- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. Do quote New Brown's wide receiver Elijah Moore.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I am super excited to be here with you for
- 0:23Speaker 1: a Thursday edition of NFL Now on NFL Network from
- 0:26Speaker 1: our newsroom in Los Angeles. My name is Andrew Siciliano.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Coming up, Tom Pellicero will tell you what that Elijah
- 0:32Speaker 1: Moore trade could mean for the Jets availability and getting
- 0:37Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, and maybe it speeds the timeline up that's
- 0:40Speaker 1: coming up in a couple of minutes. We start, however,
- 0:42Speaker 1: with Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It is Pro day season at this
- 0:46Speaker 1: very minute, we are about to get Bryce Young, the
- 0:49Speaker 1: Alabama quarterback. There. He is on the field throwing with
- 0:56Speaker 1: ten coaches and twelve general managers there, basically Brian Baldinger
- 1:02Speaker 1: and Mark Ross. The NFL contingency that was in Columbus
- 1:07Speaker 1: yesterday has moved to Tuscaloosa to see a quarterback that
- 1:10Speaker 1: did not throw at the combine. We know he could throw,
- 1:14Speaker 1: we know he's a magician at times. Baldy in the pocket.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Does today's throwing session really move the needle? If you
- 1:23Speaker 1: like Bryce Young? Doesn't it really come down to, am
- 1:26Speaker 1: I comfortable with his height and stature? Well, there's more
- 1:32Speaker 1: coaches and there's more general managers today at Bryce Young's
- 1:35Speaker 1: workout than there was at c. J. Strout's workout, so
- 1:37Speaker 1: he must be more. No, Look, I don't know what
- 1:41Speaker 1: you can actually gleam today. You know the one quality
- 1:45Speaker 1: that you constantly used to describe Bryce Young's poise, So
- 1:49Speaker 1: you're expect him to be poisonous atmosphere today, even though
- 1:52Speaker 1: the field is completely lined with reporters and personnel people
- 1:57Speaker 1: and coaches and all that. I don't think any of
- 1:59Speaker 1: that will face him, and didn't playing in the bright
- 2:02Speaker 1: lights of Tuscaloosa and throughout the SEC. So I think
- 2:06Speaker 1: today is just like I said earlier, to confirmation of
- 2:10Speaker 1: what we have seen. But I do think there is
- 2:13Speaker 1: When I talk about magic in the pocket, I do
- 2:16Speaker 1: think you will be able to see that today. But
- 2:18Speaker 1: I do think there's benefits to just watching a quarterback
- 2:20Speaker 1: throw a football in any setting, just to see how
- 2:23Speaker 1: it comes out, how fast it spends, how easy to
- 2:26Speaker 1: release his and especially mark like his deep ball is.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It's just one great throw after another throughout his college career. Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I mean, Bryce Young is my favorite player in his draft.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I think this guy is a phenomenal player. I mean,
- 2:41Speaker 1: just a magician is a perfect word for him. And
- 2:44Speaker 1: he's able to do that because he just has such
- 2:47Speaker 1: an innate feel command who always nothing phases him in
- 2:52Speaker 1: the game. He is just he controls everything around him.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And when you see great quarterbacks in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes,
- 2:58Speaker 1: Joe Burrow, they've never seen flustered, they've never seen phase.
- 3:01Speaker 1: They always seem like they're in control and can make
- 3:04Speaker 1: big time plays whenever they want. And Bryce Young, when
- 3:07Speaker 1: I evaluate him, has those same qualities. Yes, you're going
- 3:10Speaker 1: air to this pro day to talk about his height
- 3:12Speaker 1: and talk about his weight, but if you're not comfortable
- 3:15Speaker 1: with that at this point, you're never going to be.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I mean that's something you're just going to have to accept.
- 3:18Speaker 1: If you're picking him up there. I think he's going
- 3:20Speaker 1: to look great at throwing. The guy has a live arm,
- 3:23Speaker 1: he's got a quick release. Those are the things you'll see.
- 3:26Speaker 1: We've talked about the leadership and the command that he'll
- 3:28Speaker 1: show in this pro day setting, So those are the
- 3:31Speaker 1: things that look for. But most importantly, Andrew asked why
- 3:34Speaker 1: how those people are there they're on that mini combine
- 3:36Speaker 1: gravy train and going all these pro days and getting
- 3:38Speaker 1: free dinners and whatnot on the company expense report. Bryce
- 3:42Speaker 1: Young did have dinner last night with the Carolina Panthers.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Mike Carafola reports that he met this morning with the Raiders.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Is going to meet after this workout today with the Seahawks.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Pete Carroll is there, John Schneider is there, and Young
- 3:53Speaker 1: did not weigh in, so he's going to stand on
- 3:56Speaker 1: if you will, his weight of two oh four and
- 3:58Speaker 1: his height of five ten and an eighth from the
- 4:00Speaker 1: combined by not standing on the scale today. Thank you, Mark,
- 4:04Speaker 1: Thank you all. The NFL Plus is where you can
- 4:06Speaker 1: see Bryce Young throw right now. Yesterday, NFL plus is
- 4:10Speaker 1: where you watched CJ. Stroud throw the football. Daniel Jeremiah
- 4:16Speaker 1: had CJ. Stroud as his number one pick in his
- 4:20Speaker 1: latest mock draft. Charles Davis has his new mock draft
- 4:24Speaker 1: out today. Charles Davis has CJ. Stroud going number one
- 4:29Speaker 1: over Ragi. Let me correct that DJ and Bryce Young
- 4:32Speaker 1: going number one. Charles has CJ. Stroud going number one,
- 4:37Speaker 1: with Bryce Young going two to the Texans. They both
- 4:40Speaker 1: have Anthony Richardson going fourth overall, and they both have
- 4:45Speaker 1: will Levis falling. Charles has him getting to the Minnesota Vikings.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Will Levis is gonna throw tomorrow one pm Eastern. Again,
- 4:54Speaker 1: it's on NFL Plus Anthony Richardson coming up next week.
- 4:59Speaker 1: It is NFL plus Pro Day season. Go get it.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's also trade a wide receiver season as well. You're
- 5:07Speaker 1: a go today. Tyreek Hill was dealt yesterday as NFL
- 5:11Speaker 1: that work insider Tom Placeo joins us. We had Elijah
- 5:14Speaker 1: Moore traded from the Jets to the Browns, and there
- 5:18Speaker 1: are a lot of things going on here with this
- 5:20Speaker 1: trade and potentially what it could mean here for the Jets.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Tom Andrew, Let's start with Elijah Moore, who had made
- 5:27Speaker 1: clear last season at one point that he wanted to
- 5:31Speaker 1: be moving on from the Jets. They were not willing
- 5:33Speaker 1: to simply give up on a guy who was a
- 5:35Speaker 1: second round pick and the shown flashes of being a
- 5:37Speaker 1: real NFL playmaker. But it made sense for New York
- 5:41Speaker 1: once they were able to sign e Cole Hardman the
- 5:43Speaker 1: Speedster from Kansas City, to a one year deal based
- 5:46Speaker 1: Valley's about four million with up to six million dollars
- 5:50Speaker 1: including incentives, so you add some speed on offense here.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Elijah Moore gets the fresh start he wanted in Cleveland,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and the Jets is part of that trade. Also move
- 5:59Speaker 1: up thirty two spots from a third round pick all
- 6:02Speaker 1: the way up into number forty two in the second round.
- 6:05Speaker 1: So now the Jets have two consecutive second round picks
- 6:08Speaker 1: at forty two and forty three. That means that they
- 6:12Speaker 1: do have at minimum a little bit more flexibility, a
- 6:15Speaker 1: little bit more options as they continue to try to
- 6:17Speaker 1: work out something in terms of betrayed Briaron Rodgers standers. Okay, sorry,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers now still very much a packer. But the
- 6:23Speaker 1: Jets maybe have some flexibility. They're picking thirteenth overall, you
- 6:26Speaker 1: would have to think they would hold on to that
- 6:28Speaker 1: thirteenth overall pick, but they now have forty two and
- 6:30Speaker 1: they have forty three, those back to back second round picks.
- 6:33Speaker 1: As we wait here for some kind of news, let's
- 6:36Speaker 1: get back to the Pro Day circuit here. It's BC
- 6:39Speaker 1: Pro Day tom You're old stopping grounds coming up tomorrow.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Za Flowers seen by most as maybe the number one
- 6:45Speaker 1: wide receiver, but certainly a first round pick. He is
- 6:49Speaker 1: double booking dinners tonight tom the Giants and the Saints
- 6:55Speaker 1: both taking Zay Flowers to dinner tonight prior to that
- 6:59Speaker 1: pro day tomorrow. I understanding as Flowers does, intend to
- 7:02Speaker 1: do position drills, so there'll be a show to be
- 7:04Speaker 1: put on up there in Chestnut Hill. You know, Zay's
- 7:07Speaker 1: a guy who everybody looks at the dynamic playmaking ability,
- 7:10Speaker 1: what he can do in space. The question on him,
- 7:12Speaker 1: naturally is going to be the size. Well, he put
- 7:14Speaker 1: on thirteen pounds of muscle prior to the Combine. You
- 7:17Speaker 1: can find them before and aftershot on Twitter. It's fairly striking.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And if this keeps up, Andrew, maybe he puts on
- 7:24Speaker 1: a couple of pounds of something other than muscle at
- 7:26Speaker 1: some point that he can easily lose before he's on
- 7:28Speaker 1: an NFL. As you pointed it out, we've all done
- 7:30Speaker 1: it at the Combine and a week in Indianapolis, a
- 7:32Speaker 1: double book and dinners, and you certainly see a difference
- 7:36Speaker 1: when you get pounds sometimes yeah, and you get on
- 7:39Speaker 1: the scale. All right, let's get to Denver here. I mean,
- 7:41Speaker 1: there had been some trade talk of Jerry Judy. He's
- 7:43Speaker 1: still very much a Bronco but tell us about kJ
- 7:45Speaker 1: Hamdler and Tom the story you had an hour ago.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Andrew kJ Hamdler recently suffered a partially torn pack that
- 7:53Speaker 1: did require surgery, So that is a four to six
- 7:56Speaker 1: months recovery for Hamdler. By four months, he should be
- 7:59Speaker 1: able to run and do everything at full speed, but
- 8:02Speaker 1: there's still that kind of lag period in terms of
- 8:04Speaker 1: what you want to fully clear him for contact and
- 8:07Speaker 1: everything else. So potentially he could be ready right around
- 8:10Speaker 1: the start of training camp. There would be hope and
- 8:12Speaker 1: optimism that he could be ready for the start of
- 8:14Speaker 1: the regular season. But you also mentioned too the trade
- 8:17Speaker 1: talks that Denver is potentially been engaging in regard to
- 8:21Speaker 1: Jerry Judy as well as Coreland Sutton. Well, all of
- 8:24Speaker 1: a sudden kJ Hamdler, who also might have been a
- 8:26Speaker 1: trade target. You wouldn't think you're training somebody who's coming
- 8:29Speaker 1: off of an injury here. Will that impact Denver's thinking
- 8:31Speaker 1: in terms of trading one of the other guys. All
- 8:34Speaker 1: I know is of now is the price is not
- 8:36Speaker 1: insignificant if Denver is going to move on from either
- 8:39Speaker 1: of those guys. Interesting Tom Placeo doing the NFL Network
- 8:42Speaker 1: Insider thing from his hotel room today in New York
- 8:44Speaker 1: after playing the guitar this morning with a cowboy hat.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Well done, Tom on Good Morning Football. Interestingly enough, speaking
- 8:52Speaker 1: of wide receivers, a wide receiver is the number one
- 8:55Speaker 1: guy remaining on Greg Rosenthal's big board here going back
- 8:58Speaker 1: to the start of free agency. He is number nine.
- 9:01Speaker 1: D J. Chark's an interesting name there as well at
- 9:04Speaker 1: twenty nine. And I'm a big Bobby Wagner fan. Let's
- 9:07Speaker 1: get Mark and Bolty back in here. Mark, start with you,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and start with Odell Beckham Junior. We've heard his name
- 9:13Speaker 1: tied to the Jets, right. Aaron Rodgers was banging the
- 9:17Speaker 1: table for Odell Beckham Junior on the McAfee show last week.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Does that work? And if not, where? Yeah? I don't know, O,
- 9:27Speaker 1: b J. You Aaron Rodgers was saying it. But I'd
- 9:29Speaker 1: like to get him somewhere where he won't have to
- 9:31Speaker 1: be sort of the focal point, especially getting him back
- 9:34Speaker 1: here in New York. He needs to go to an
- 9:35Speaker 1: environment where he just has to be a piece of
- 9:37Speaker 1: the puzzle. And there's no better place than that than
- 9:40Speaker 1: Kansas City. And we've see what Andy Reid has done
- 9:42Speaker 1: with the You know, getting the best out of players
- 9:45Speaker 1: who made can Darius Tony last year, getting the best
- 9:48Speaker 1: out of him. He's got young sky More. We know
- 9:51Speaker 1: Kelsey's always there, but you get Odell Beckham in that
- 9:53Speaker 1: offense with everybody else they always have. He doesn't have
- 9:56Speaker 1: to be the focal point. He get healthy if need be.
- 9:59Speaker 1: He's essentially sort of a spot player at this point.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Gives him that deep threat and I just like that
- 10:04Speaker 1: fit there where. Just doesn't have to be the guy Baldi.
- 10:09Speaker 1: You know, let's face it, Mark Odell Beckham wants a big,
- 10:12Speaker 1: big contract, and I don't know that that's out there
- 10:14Speaker 1: for him. But I do think the Jets make a
- 10:17Speaker 1: lot of sense. I mean, if they're trying to still.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I mean, obviously if the Aaron Rodgers deal has to
- 10:21Speaker 1: get worked out, and we're they're in the process. But
- 10:24Speaker 1: the more you can throw at Aaron Rodgers right now
- 10:27Speaker 1: with experienced receivers in addition, you know, to the rookie,
- 10:31Speaker 1: the offensive rookie of the year and Garrett Wilson, I mean,
- 10:34Speaker 1: the more I think Aaron Rodgers is going this is
- 10:38Speaker 1: absolutely the place I want to spend time here this offseason.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I want to throw to Odell Beckham in May and
- 10:44Speaker 1: June as much as I can, along with you know,
- 10:47Speaker 1: Lizard and everybody else that's there, I think there's there's
- 10:51Speaker 1: more than just smoke in Flora Park, New Jersey right
- 10:54Speaker 1: now with the Jets and Odell Beckham June in trist Stain.
- 10:58Speaker 1: What about Bobby Wagner, I said, big fan here. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: mean the Rams loved him Mark, he played well. He's
- 11:04Speaker 1: gonna be thirty three though coming up in June. Made
- 11:07Speaker 1: his eight figures last year in LA. He can help
- 11:11Speaker 1: your team, but he's still looking for work. Yeah, which
- 11:16Speaker 1: is surprising because he did show that he still can
- 11:18Speaker 1: play at a high level last year. Some guys are
- 11:21Speaker 1: just aged us like that, you know. But let's get
- 11:23Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner back to Seattle. We talked about some of
- 11:26Speaker 1: the offseason editions and Draymond Jones there and talked about
- 11:29Speaker 1: the young talent they got there, Tariq Willing at corner. Well,
- 11:32Speaker 1: let's get Bobby Wagner back the cornerstone and leading to
- 11:35Speaker 1: boom there that whole defense and get him to mix
- 11:37Speaker 1: the young with the new and bring that all back
- 11:40Speaker 1: together with Bobby who can provide the leadership but still
- 11:45Speaker 1: can provide some playmaking and production there, Baldi. You know, Mark,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I was, I was kind of overlooking your notes and
- 11:53Speaker 1: I saw you put Bobby Wagoner back in Seattle, and
- 11:56Speaker 1: I actually you cheating out myself, now, I was, I
- 11:59Speaker 1: did just guy, I just see March cheat sheet there, Okay.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And so I was thinking, what if Bobby Wagner went
- 12:06Speaker 1: to Buffalo where they lost Tremaine Edmunds. I know they sounded,
- 12:09Speaker 1: you know, they signed Matt Mulano back. But if you
- 12:12Speaker 1: put Bobby Wagner Matt Mulano together in Buffalo, no Leslie
- 12:15Speaker 1: Frasier this year, like there might be a little void
- 12:18Speaker 1: in leadership you bring back Jordan Poyer, Like I could
- 12:21Speaker 1: see Bobby Wagner fitting it in that culture the way
- 12:24Speaker 1: Von Miller, you know, just raved about it coming from
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Rams to Buffalo last year. And I can see
- 12:29Speaker 1: Von picking up the phone and saying, Bro, listen, you're
- 12:32Speaker 1: gonna love this place. Bill's mafia. They're gonna go nuts
- 12:35Speaker 1: for you. Like I could see that deal possibly getting done.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Von Miller one year with the Rams ends up in Buffalo,
- 12:42Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner one year at the Rams. I can see
- 12:45Speaker 1: where it makes sense. Mark, Ezekiel Elliott within the last
- 12:48Speaker 1: hour tweeted something like I want my fifteen back, meaning
- 12:51Speaker 1: like his fifteen jersey when he played at Ohio States.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I'm not going to go through rosters to figure out
- 12:57Speaker 1: who is a fifteen available, but find a good fit
- 12:59Speaker 1: for him. Yeah, let's get him to the offseason winner.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So far that Chicago Bay helping out the young justin field.
- 13:07Speaker 1: They signed out their foreman, got Khalil Herbert there. But
- 13:10Speaker 1: let's get Zeke back in Big ten country there and provide.
- 13:14Speaker 1: But he's not the Zeke elliotable, but he still has
- 13:16Speaker 1: value as a rotational back with Foreman and Herbert there
- 13:20Speaker 1: as particularly short yardage goal line. We saw him crushing
- 13:24Speaker 1: on the goal line in short yard and situations last year.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Provides a playmaker for jessin fields to continue his development.
- 13:31Speaker 1: With all the other offseason moves there for Chicago, see
- 13:34Speaker 1: if it makes sense as Zeke to provide some better
- 13:37Speaker 1: straight and say better in leadership there. Now he's been
- 13:40Speaker 1: around with wild Baldi. You know, Mark, As I get older,
- 13:45Speaker 1: I kind of enjoy the sunshine a lot more than
- 13:48Speaker 1: the long gray winter days of Chicago and Philadelphia. And
- 13:52Speaker 1: so I think that Zeke is a good businessman, like
- 13:56Speaker 1: the no tax state of Florida and the city of
- 13:59Speaker 1: Tampa looks like with no letter for net there that
- 14:03Speaker 1: that could be a good fit. I don't know who
- 14:05Speaker 1: is gonna play quarterback, but any quarterback that does play
- 14:07Speaker 1: there would certainly benefit by Zeke's ability to protect a
- 14:11Speaker 1: quarterback in pass protection. You got a young Rashad White there, like,
- 14:15Speaker 1: maybe he could help him come along. Third round pick
- 14:18Speaker 1: a year ago. I can see a fit for Ezekiel
- 14:21Speaker 1: Elliott and the veterans on that team. Lavante David, you know,
- 14:25Speaker 1: just go through a list of all the guys that
- 14:27Speaker 1: would really embrace Zeke coming to Tampa. Well, I'll say this,
- 14:31Speaker 1: I just looked it up quick googling here while you
- 14:33Speaker 1: guys were talking. Both the Bears and the Buccaneers do
- 14:36Speaker 1: have number fifteen available. Surprising for the Bears that any
- 14:40Speaker 1: number is available, as they have fourteen jerseys retired, but
- 14:45Speaker 1: fifteen still available at both Hallis Hall and One Buck
- 14:48Speaker 1: Place if Zeke truly wants his fifteen back. Thank you, Baldy.
- 14:53Speaker 1: That's amazing work by you in real time the Google
- 14:57Speaker 1: machine here. Well, you guys are talking, I don't even
- 14:59Speaker 1: ever think that I'm not paying attention. I am no, right,
- 15:02Speaker 1: but I couldn't do that well tasking most of the time.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Strout on the move, flips at the class. Strout fires
- 15:14Speaker 1: deep down to the end zone and it is crabbed
- 15:16Speaker 1: in the ends up CJ. Stroud. CJ. Strout still running,
- 15:21Speaker 1: He's trapped. M he loves to do. It's a beautiful
- 15:23Speaker 1: downfield bro wow with a crow. CJ. Strout look good yesterday.
- 15:28Speaker 1: You're supposed to look good in the Pro day. CJ.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Strout checked that box. He looked good in the Pro Day.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And he probably likes the fact that if he went
- 15:35Speaker 1: to NFL dot com this morning on his phone, he
- 15:37Speaker 1: would see the Charles Davis as c J. Stroud going
- 15:40Speaker 1: number one overall in his latest mock draft. Now Charles
- 15:44Speaker 1: points out there are no trade so far in his
- 15:46Speaker 1: mock draft. The Panthers already made the trade. They went
- 15:48Speaker 1: from nine up to one. Let's talk about some CJ.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Strouds here as it is Pro day season. Bridget Condon
- 15:56Speaker 1: with us hi there, Bridget Mark rossback with me as well.
- 15:58Speaker 1: We saw Frank Ryk and Josh McCown and David Tepper
- 16:01Speaker 1: and everyone there to see c J. Strout yesterday. What
- 16:05Speaker 1: they think they saw, well, Andrew, it felt like the
- 16:07Speaker 1: entire state of North Carolina was at CJ. Strout's pro
- 16:10Speaker 1: day yesterday. Fourteen people from the Panthers organization were there
- 16:15Speaker 1: watching him, and they were very impressed based on conversations
- 16:18Speaker 1: that I've been having around the organization. They went out
- 16:21Speaker 1: to dinner with him on Tuesday, smart guy, really impressed
- 16:24Speaker 1: with him as a person. Then on Wednesday at his
- 16:26Speaker 1: pro day, just as impressed. Really liked that arm strength,
- 16:30Speaker 1: the way he got rid of the ball. Super super impressed.
- 16:33Speaker 1: And you know, we can't make We don't nobody knows
- 16:36Speaker 1: who the Panthers are going to take with number one,
- 16:37Speaker 1: but we can't read into it right, That's what we
- 16:40Speaker 1: love to do as reporters. There's a video from Nick Carboni,
- 16:43Speaker 1: a local affiliate out of Charlotte. He took this video
- 16:46Speaker 1: of Josh McCown, the quarterback coach for the Panthers, talking
- 16:50Speaker 1: with CJ. Strout after about horse check this out second letter.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Maybe when he lives in Charlotte they will find a court.
- 17:11Speaker 1: But of course today they are at Bryce Young's pro
- 17:13Speaker 1: day as well. Another guy that they met with last night,
- 17:15Speaker 1: had dinner with smart, solid guy. They really like him.
- 17:19Speaker 1: There's been a lot of conversation about the height difference, right,
- 17:22Speaker 1: that's been the biggest thing. Bryce Young coming in at
- 17:24Speaker 1: five ten CJ. Stroud six three. Our research team is
- 17:28Speaker 1: the best in the nation for this. Shout out to
- 17:31Speaker 1: John Todd for helping get these facts. I just want to,
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know, put it, put something out there. Why not.
- 17:35Speaker 1: We got a lot of time to play with Frank Reich.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Of his twelve seasons where he's had a direct impact
- 17:41Speaker 1: with the quarterbacks or either as a quarterbacks coach, offensive
- 17:44Speaker 1: coordinator or head coach, nine starting quarterbacks, the two that
- 17:48Speaker 1: played the least for the two shortest. So just I
- 17:51Speaker 1: don't know, fun fact to keep that in mind. Do
- 17:53Speaker 1: with what that you want to do with him? Mark,
- 17:55Speaker 1: what would you do with it? Well, I've been going
- 17:59Speaker 1: Bryce Young. I just think Bryce Young, and I've been
- 18:01Speaker 1: saying it's the best player in college football. He's the
- 18:03Speaker 1: most dominant. When you have the first pick in the draft,
- 18:07Speaker 1: you gotta go with a guy that dominated in school. See. J.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Stroud had his ups now had productive. But just when
- 18:12Speaker 1: I watched Bryce Young, he plays like the great quarterbacks
- 18:16Speaker 1: in this league right now, the Patrick Mahomes, the Joe Burrows,
- 18:19Speaker 1: who control everything around them, highly productive, big time playmakers, leaders, winners.
- 18:25Speaker 1: He shows those same qualities on and off the field
- 18:28Speaker 1: that you love in those the quarterbacks, the MVP quarterbacks
- 18:32Speaker 1: in the league right now. But the biggest thing I
- 18:34Speaker 1: think either the Panthers go with this pick, I think
- 18:38Speaker 1: they've got a really good infrastructure for either one of
- 18:41Speaker 1: these guys wherever they decide to go. Frank Wright is
- 18:43Speaker 1: the head coach, but most importantly, the players they have
- 18:46Speaker 1: around on their offensive line is really good, led by
- 18:48Speaker 1: the young Ike Iguando, last year's first round draft pick.
- 18:51Speaker 1: They signed Miles Sanders. The backfield, they've got Adam feeling
- 18:55Speaker 1: there with that receiving Corps signed Hayden Hurts as well,
- 18:58Speaker 1: So they have a lot of players there and a
- 19:01Speaker 1: lot of the infrastructure of talent so that a young
- 19:03Speaker 1: quarterback could step in. And also the Andy Dalton factor.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We know he's not the answer, but he can bridge
- 19:09Speaker 1: the gap and get them through games until either one
- 19:13Speaker 1: of these young guys is ready to go. So I
- 19:15Speaker 1: just really like the way that the Panthers have built
- 19:18Speaker 1: this up for these young either one of these young
- 19:20Speaker 1: guys who succeed and they don't have to get thrown
- 19:23Speaker 1: into the mix where they have to be the savior,
- 19:25Speaker 1: have to jump in right away and play and don't
- 19:27Speaker 1: have talent around them quick for coaching. They've got the
- 19:30Speaker 1: players around them, and they've got a quarterback they can
- 19:32Speaker 1: get them through Andrew My fault there, Mark quicker View,
- 19:34Speaker 1: I was going to say of what Bryce Young just
- 19:36Speaker 1: did today, Steve Smith, I'm told over an NFL Plus,
- 19:38Speaker 1: said that watching Bryce Young throw today was like listening
- 19:42Speaker 1: to Coltrane, which is a compliment kids for those who
- 19:46Speaker 1: don't know. That's right. Panthers are there today. Next up
- 19:49Speaker 1: for the Panthers is We'll Love Us tomorrow Kentucky and
- 19:52Speaker 1: then they're also going to go to Florida to see
- 19:54Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson at the end of the month. But here's
- 19:56Speaker 1: the thing they are they want to do their due
- 19:58Speaker 1: diligence and make sure they get this right. The reason
- 20:01Speaker 1: why they felt so confident trading from number nine up
- 20:04Speaker 1: to is because they like this entire group of quarterbacks
- 20:08Speaker 1: coming out of college this year. And it's not just
- 20:10Speaker 1: about who's the best on the field. They're looking for
- 20:13Speaker 1: a franchise quarterback, somebody who's going to be the face
- 20:16Speaker 1: of the Panthers, someone they haven't had really since Cam
- 20:19Speaker 1: Newton left the first time in twenty nineteen. So for them,
- 20:22Speaker 1: it's really about who's going to mesh well with us.
- 20:24Speaker 1: We want to get this right because it's interesting when
- 20:27Speaker 1: you look at the first pick in the NFL draft.
- 20:29Speaker 1: A lot of times we're talking about teams who have
- 20:31Speaker 1: a couple of years before they're contenders. But the Panthers,
- 20:34Speaker 1: what they've done. Give credit to David Tepper and Scott Fitter,
- 20:38Speaker 1: or what they've done the past couple of years with
- 20:39Speaker 1: sharing up that defense, Brian Burns, Derek Brown last year,
- 20:43Speaker 1: the offensive line. Now they really just have a puzzle.
- 20:46Speaker 1: The last piece is that quarterback to just drop in
- 20:48Speaker 1: and really get over the hump. Another thing to keep
- 20:51Speaker 1: your eye on, though, as we get closer over the
- 20:53Speaker 1: next couple of months, is the wide receiver. Of course,
- 20:55Speaker 1: they lost Dj Moore with that trade. I wouldn't be
- 20:58Speaker 1: surprised if they pick up a receiver here in the
- 21:00Speaker 1: next couple of weeks or even months. Adam Feeling a
- 21:02Speaker 1: nice piece they added over the weekend as well. Panthers
- 21:05Speaker 1: sitting here with the number one overall pick. DJ Moore
- 21:08Speaker 1: is in Chicago. Thank you for je Condon, Thank you
- 21:10Speaker 1: Mark Ross. Javon Hargrave, meantime, is in Santa Clara after
- 21:14Speaker 1: signing a massive contract four years and eighty four million dollars.
- 21:19Speaker 1: He was, in a lot of people's eyes the number
- 21:21Speaker 1: one defensive piece on the big board when we started
- 21:24Speaker 1: free agency. As he goes to the number one defense
- 21:28Speaker 1: in football, Jeff Chittia, and maybe he feels a void
- 21:33Speaker 1: that they have kind of felt despite the numbers and
- 21:35Speaker 1: despite the results since they sent the Forrest Buckner to
- 21:39Speaker 1: the Colts. Yeah, they have felt that Andrew they drafted
- 21:42Speaker 1: Javon kin Law has not worked out very well. He's
- 21:45Speaker 1: been a solid player, but not a top ten draft,
- 21:48Speaker 1: which is where he was drafted. And John Winn said
- 21:51Speaker 1: at this earlier this offseason that they've got a really
- 21:54Speaker 1: good defensive line. They want to be a great, impactful
- 21:57Speaker 1: defensive line again, and that's where they went out and
- 21:59Speaker 1: got jay Von Hargrave. This is a defensive line that
- 22:02Speaker 1: had forty four shacks last year, but see and a
- 22:05Speaker 1: half of those sacks came from one player. The defensive
- 22:08Speaker 1: player of the year Nick Bosa and Hardgrave had eleven
- 22:10Speaker 1: sacks on his own with Philadelphia lash year with a
- 22:13Speaker 1: great pass Russian. So putting that piece back in place
- 22:16Speaker 1: with Bosa there with Eric Armstead, John Lynch feels like
- 22:20Speaker 1: his defense is going to get back to being not
- 22:21Speaker 1: just the top defense in the league, but being just
- 22:23Speaker 1: a kind of defense that's just dominant weekend and week out.
- 22:27Speaker 1: All right, what about the Seahawks defense, because that defense
- 22:29Speaker 1: last year was not dominant. They also made a movie
- 22:32Speaker 1: defensive tackle. They brought in Draymont Jones, the former Bronco
- 22:35Speaker 1: five years younger than a Hardgrave. That is sending player here,
- 22:38Speaker 1: former Ohio State Buckeye Jeff Chittia. What is heated to
- 22:42Speaker 1: that defense? And what about that makeover overall? So far? Well,
- 22:45Speaker 1: they really went off script going to get Jones the
- 22:47Speaker 1: way they did, because usually they sit back in free
- 22:50Speaker 1: agency and wait to figure out they can find some
- 22:52Speaker 1: bargains there. They were very aggressive going after him, and
- 22:55Speaker 1: that showed you how much Pete Carroll was to get
- 22:57Speaker 1: that defense back to being good and reliable. As you mentioned,
- 23:01Speaker 1: the stature pretty rough last year, twenty fifth and scoring
- 23:04Speaker 1: defense thirtieth in rush defense, not just Joe is coming in,
- 23:08Speaker 1: but but bringing back jarn Reeve who had his best
- 23:10Speaker 1: years in Seattle and has kind of struggled in other places.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Devin Bush, a linebacker from the Steelers, and then Julian
- 23:16Speaker 1: Love are pretty good safety from the Giant. So they're
- 23:18Speaker 1: trying to get better on that end of it. Big
- 23:20Speaker 1: question marks year, of course Jamal Adams and Jordan Brooks.
- 23:23Speaker 1: When would they be available? But again, Pete Carroll, if
- 23:26Speaker 1: he gets that defense going in the right direction, this
- 23:28Speaker 1: team should be back in the postseason again. And as
- 23:30Speaker 1: many people have circle defense at five here for the Seahawks,
- 23:33Speaker 1: it is fascinating. John Schneider and Pete Carroll are their
- 23:36Speaker 1: front end center for these last two quarterbacks working out CJ.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Stroud and Bryce Hunk. Granted there are other players there
- 23:44Speaker 1: that are very good at football, but they got a
- 23:47Speaker 1: front row seat. Speaking of Bryce, Thank you, Jeff Jindiya
- 23:49Speaker 1: there he is. He has done for the day. Bryce
- 23:51Speaker 1: Young throwing the football. Many people were there, NFL Plus
- 23:55Speaker 1: was there, Nick Saban was there. What Saban has to
- 23:58Speaker 1: say about Bryce Young? Next Bryce taking a shot, He's
- 24:13Speaker 1: able to kill it away Young French needle one strike
- 24:18Speaker 1: youngs down the middle. Touchy, Bryce Young guy is good.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'll tell you he's got a nice arm on. It's
- 24:28Speaker 1: got a very nice yarn. Steve Smith said that watching
- 24:30Speaker 1: Bryce Young throat today was like listening to Coltrane. Alabama
- 24:34Speaker 1: Pro Day is done. Bryce Young did not weigh in.
- 24:38Speaker 1: He's going to stand on what he did at the
- 24:40Speaker 1: cow by what he did, which is five ten and
- 24:42Speaker 1: one eighth two hundred and four pounds. Nick Saban does
- 24:47Speaker 1: not seem bothered by any of it because he saw
- 24:49Speaker 1: the guy play well. First of all, I don't have
- 24:54Speaker 1: any issues with his measurables. And you know, some people
- 24:58Speaker 1: think it's a durability issue, which he's never been hurt
- 25:02Speaker 1: here other than when he hurt himself basically fallen down
- 25:04Speaker 1: the put his arm out, and his five ten frame
- 25:10Speaker 1: has never really had an impact on his productivity in
- 25:14Speaker 1: a league where most of the players you're playing against
- 25:17Speaker 1: are the same guys you're going to be playing against
- 25:19Speaker 1: at the next level, so it's not like he's playing
- 25:22Speaker 1: against lesser talented players. There's going to be so many
- 25:25Speaker 1: players in the SEC that get drafted, so I don't
- 25:27Speaker 1: have an issue with it. There's never been a more
- 25:30Speaker 1: instinctive guy. He plays the quarterback position like a point guard.
- 25:35Speaker 1: He's got, you know, great instincts, great feel, contains arm angles,
- 25:39Speaker 1: very accurate with the ball, really quick processor and decision maker,
- 25:44Speaker 1: which I think are those two things. Accuracy, quick decision
- 25:48Speaker 1: maker and process or probably the most important qualities in
- 25:51Speaker 1: playing quarterback. Ar Daniel Jeremiah talked about Bryce told the
- 25:56Speaker 1: story that he heard from people down here that he
- 25:58Speaker 1: would get the game plan on Sunday and by Monday,
- 26:00Speaker 1: you guys would come in and he'd have a list
- 26:02Speaker 1: of questions suggestions. Was that a weekly occurrence? And when
- 26:07Speaker 1: you talk to teams about his preparation and his love
- 26:10Speaker 1: for the game, what do you tell him besides that? Well,
- 26:14Speaker 1: I think it is true. Bryce always watched the previous
- 26:18Speaker 1: game before the coaches watched it, and he was always
- 26:21Speaker 1: in on Sunday to try to figure out what are
- 26:23Speaker 1: we gonna do against the next team, and what's the thoughts,
- 26:27Speaker 1: what's the ideas? And you know, Bryce was as smart
- 26:32Speaker 1: and as well prepared as our entire coaching staff. I
- 26:36Speaker 1: think our coaches did a great job of helping develop
- 26:39Speaker 1: that in him. But this past year or he was
- 26:42Speaker 1: as good as having a coach on the field. That
- 26:47Speaker 1: is a huge endorsement. Also love the fact that five
- 26:49Speaker 1: foot nine Steve Smith says he has no problem with
- 26:51Speaker 1: Bryce Young's measurables for the record five ft seven yours
- 26:55Speaker 1: truly doesn't either. Dalton king Kade is six four for
- 26:59Speaker 1: the record and he is number eleven on Daniel Jeremiah's
- 27:02Speaker 1: big Board. It is Utah Pro Day today. Kinkaide is
- 27:06Speaker 1: not working out, but he is talking to Omar Ruiz.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Thank you very much, Dalton Kincaide here at Utah pro Da. Dalton,
- 27:13Speaker 1: big question, how's the back? It's good. Um got fully
- 27:16Speaker 1: cleared on Monday, So six weeks for Monday, fully cleared
- 27:19Speaker 1: for contact. It's very grateful and excited to move forward
- 27:24Speaker 1: that six weeks for contact will be right after the draft,
- 27:26Speaker 1: in time for rookie Mini Candy. One of the questions
- 27:29Speaker 1: that the teams have with you in terms of you
- 27:31Speaker 1: can help, uh, just in terms off I'm gonna test
- 27:34Speaker 1: or you know, getting getting football shaped. So for me,
- 27:38Speaker 1: I'm just very grateful to be healthy. Um. You know,
- 27:40Speaker 1: you learn a lot throughout that process and definitely something
- 27:44Speaker 1: I'm never gonna take for granted. Again, the fact that
- 27:46Speaker 1: you played through that injury late in the season last year.
- 27:49Speaker 1: What do you think that showed teams? Um, I mean,
- 27:51Speaker 1: that's that's the reason I came back was another pac
- 27:53Speaker 1: twelfth championship and we were able to do that. So, um,
- 27:57Speaker 1: you know, I wasn't gonna miss that game for anything.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Any How do you prove to them that you are
- 28:02Speaker 1: healthy now going into the draft. I'm gonna some routes
- 28:05Speaker 1: and kind of do some drill work and either you know,
- 28:08Speaker 1: invites some people out to watch that or just record it,
- 28:10Speaker 1: send out some teams. And you had one of your teammates,
- 28:12Speaker 1: Brank Keithy, injured during the season. The sole focus seems
- 28:16Speaker 1: of the offense went through you, and you were still
- 28:19Speaker 1: able to produce given that circumstance. What do you think
- 28:21Speaker 1: that says about your game? Um? I mean, it's just
- 28:24Speaker 1: a lot of trust with my my offensive coordinator, head coach,
- 28:28Speaker 1: having a great relationship with my quarterback. I think he's
- 28:31Speaker 1: the best in the business. So I mean, it's just
- 28:35Speaker 1: a lot of guys and trusting me, and you know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: just just doing my best to prove them right. And
- 28:39Speaker 1: you had a nose for the end zone every year
- 28:41Speaker 1: you had at least eight touchdowns. Eleven of your twenty
- 28:44Speaker 1: four catches in your freshman year were touchdowns. How did
- 28:48Speaker 1: you develop that nose for the end zone? I mean
- 28:51Speaker 1: when you when you get down there, you know you
- 28:52Speaker 1: should score touch on every time. That's kind of my
- 28:55Speaker 1: thought process. Again, I think a lot of it just
- 28:58Speaker 1: has to do with, you know, being put in a
- 28:59Speaker 1: great position, from your your quarterback, to your head coach,
- 29:01Speaker 1: to your offensive coordinator. You grew up playing multiple sports, heady,
- 29:05Speaker 1: think that shape who you are as a prospect. Now.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I think it all kind of translates in some way,
- 29:09Speaker 1: shape or form. Um. You know, I played catcher growing up,
- 29:12Speaker 1: so tracking a ball, also playing in the outfield, you're
- 29:14Speaker 1: tracking it, Basketball, going up and get a rebound, soccer
- 29:19Speaker 1: you know your footwork. So it all really kind of
- 29:21Speaker 1: translates into assisting you in some way, shape or form
- 29:24Speaker 1: in the game. And the rest of this pre draft
- 29:27Speaker 1: process as you make your visits. What left besides the
- 29:32Speaker 1: health do you want to prove to these teams? Um,
- 29:35Speaker 1: just that I'm ready to go. I mean that's really it. Um,
- 29:38Speaker 1: you know, I'm just eager and really excited. First thing
- 29:42Speaker 1: I want to do is just really get that playbook
- 29:44Speaker 1: and just kind of get that down. And the fact
- 29:46Speaker 1: that you're out here supporting your guys. What do you
- 29:48Speaker 1: think that says about you as a teammate in terms
- 29:50Speaker 1: of your character. I mean, I think that that's expected.
- 29:52Speaker 1: You know. Uh, these are guys that I cried work through.
- 29:56Speaker 1: You know. It's it's guys you you grind in the
- 29:59Speaker 1: off season with and you just got a really good relationship.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And I think here you tak You know, we we
- 30:03Speaker 1: talk a lot about having a family culture. You know
- 30:06Speaker 1: that you hear that kind of everywhere, but here I
- 30:08Speaker 1: think it kind of means something different. All right, don't
- 30:10Speaker 1: We'll appreciate your time and good luck the rest of
- 30:12Speaker 1: the way. I appreciate it. Thank you. NFL Now is
