- 1:00Hey, y'all, welcome to today's show. Today is going to be well,
- 1:03today's show is going to be a very special show for me. I
- 1:06talk about a priest and I wrote about recently, and people want to know
- 1:11more about him. And I think, you know, in this day and
- 1:15age, when we can watch mass online, I think it's really one of
- 1:19the best ones to watch. It's gonna answer a lot of questions that you
- 1:23may have that other people really don't have the same insight, to put it
- 1:30mildly, but we'll get into that in a minute, you know. I
- 1:33like to start with a couple of questions and answers from the old book radio
- 1:37replies from the nineteen thirties. This was in this particular episode. The questions
- 1:44are really coming from the questions we're really coming from communists, and the priests,
- 1:49one in Australia and one in the United States, were of course very
- 1:53opposed to communism, which every faithful Catholic should be, because communism is utterly
- 2:00opposed to Christianity. Not only is it atheist, but it's communism, socialism,
- 2:07progressivism, Nazism, and liberal Democrats whatever, it's all the same ideology
- 2:15are based on one of the seven deadly sins. I mean it's first of
- 2:21all, it's literally based on the Thinness on covetousnessness, covetousness, it's based
- 2:28it's a political ideology based on coveting, based on wanting what someone else has,
- 2:35and then on theft stealing it through government rather than just going and pulling
- 2:38a gun on somebody. So um an envy, you know, yeah,
- 2:45let's also throw an envy. I think we can find a few more of
- 2:47them. Actually, it's an evil ideology and it has led to the deaths
- 2:53of hundreds of millions of people, and it needs to be utterly rejected,
- 2:57even and especially when it comes under the Wolf in Sheep's Clothing guide of guys
- 3:02of social and environmental justice. When you hear that crap in your church or
- 3:07in your Catholic school, say you know what, socialism, communism, progressivism,
- 3:15liberalism is incompatible with Catholicism. Get that crap out of here, and
- 3:23if they refuse, pull your kid out of school, go to a different
- 3:27parish. Do not put a dollar in that collection plate. Put a note
- 3:30in there that says, when you stop promoting communism, I will put a
- 3:36dollar in this plate. They'll get the idea eventually. All right, So
- 3:40the first question is the person actually makes a statement, not a question.
- 3:46My poverty is due to the oppression of capitalism, not to the loving will
- 3:50of God. Well, they answer, God has permitted it, but it
- 3:54has come about firstly by mistaken conduct with all good will on the part of
- 4:00man, secondly by faults on both the side of some capitalists and on some
- 4:05workers. Thirdly through mere force of circumstances. It is not against God's positive
- 4:12will to try to remedy these things. But meantime, the present state of
- 4:16affairs would not exist were it not for his permissive will. Once again,
- 4:23the priests are saying, God didn't will you to be poor. You're poor
- 4:29because of the well your own actions or the actions of other human beings.
- 4:38When a person misuses their wealth to the detriment of others, they are sitting
- 4:44gravely. They are sitting far more gravely than a poor person who is struggling
- 4:51to survive and may make a few bad choices. You remember lad Versus and
- 5:00the rich man. The rich man had a duty to care for his brother,
- 5:03his fellow jue Lazarus, but he wouldn't even worry if he could be,
- 5:10you know, enough to give him the scraps of food from his table.
- 5:15That is well, that's about as grave as sin as can be.
- 5:18You know, God said the ultimate laws. Love God with all your heart,
- 5:21and your neighbor as yourself. Yes, the employer does have a duty
- 5:27to his employees, and each of them have a duty to their community.
- 5:31We're not in it just for ourselves, the old Gordon Gecko. Greed is
- 5:36good, you know, depends on how you define greed. First of all,
- 5:42greed as defined by the Catholic Church is a grave evil. On the
- 5:46other hand, concerted self interest, which is essentially the heart of the capitalist
- 5:54system. I want to make a living, therefore I make a good product
- 5:58to sell is actually the most equitable way to distribute goods. If each person
- 6:06will work and are in an equal, fair environment, there's more than enough
- 6:13for everybody who's abundance. You remember, Thomas Jefferson's vision for America was small
- 6:18farmers, each one producing all they needed and selling their excess. Another who
- 6:24decided not to be a farmer could be a craftsman. He would trade his
- 6:28goods for some of the extra produce that came off to farm. Another might
- 6:32be a lawyer, he'd give his legal services in exchange for the many to
- 6:38buy from the craftsman and from the farmer. The idea that we should all
- 6:44be in the service industry or in government, which is what has pushed these
- 6:47days, or on the doll is absolutely destructive. This isn't capitalism. This
- 6:56is actually fascism where a few large corporations fund the government to give them special
- 7:03treatment and everyone else just has enough to survive on to buy the things those
- 7:09corporations produce. From labor in China, from resources source from Africa and South
- 7:15America. This is not the way it was supposed to be. We are
- 7:19not living in a capitalist society. We are living in a fascist socialist society.
- 7:26If you want to get back to real capitalism, buy a piece of
- 7:30property, start a small farm, figure out how to provide for your family,
- 7:34figure out how to cover your own needs, and then do something extra
- 7:39to make a little money, and then you're actually a capitalist. Otherwise,
- 7:43start a business, hire people, produce a good that people actually need.
- 7:47They can be a restaurant people need to eat. Do an actual actually care
- 7:53enough about the quality of your work, the quality of what you produce,
- 7:58and the people you're serving to give them something good in quality, not cheap
- 8:05garbage made in China by slave labor. Anyway, the person goes on and
- 8:13says, could God, could not God at least have made life much easier
- 8:18instead of making everything hard? Well, they answer, obviously, everything's not
- 8:22hard. Some things are. The things that are difficult are made easier by
- 8:26the grace of which so many people deliberately deprive themselves. All difficulty cannot be
- 8:33removed, for God has a right to ask us to overcome at personal cost,
- 8:37our self inflicted bad habits, sends, and injuries. Men's complaints are
- 8:43often about as reasonable as those of a man who cuts his throat and then
- 8:46blames the doctor because it hurts to have it stitched up again. How true
- 8:50is that we are all our own worst enemies, and we do make things
- 8:54much harder for ourselves than they need to be. And what's the most natural
- 9:01thing? At that point? Blame God, not yourself. The maturer man
- 9:05or woman will look in the mirror first, and the person says, but
- 9:11life seems to be becoming harder and more painful. They said, Well,
- 9:15there has been a succession of world depressions, of world recoveries throughout history.
- 9:18In any case, temporal trials do not mean that life is becoming worse.
- 9:22It may mean it may be a means of great good. It is easy
- 9:26to follow our lower instincts, difficult to battle against them. If your policy
- 9:31is to do only that which it is easy and pleasant in life, you
- 9:35will never be much of a man. Christ came to make men better and
- 9:39offers his grace and assistance whenever virtue demands what is difficult and painful to our
- 9:43lower natures and sensitiveness sensitivities. I guess he said he offers special grace to
- 9:50those who have the good sense to pray for it. What a remarkable statement
- 9:56in this day and age. Be a man if you don't face the trials
- 10:01and the hardships, if you don't overcome your weaknesses and temptations, you will
- 10:07never be much of a man. That one statement may be in greater opposition
- 10:13to our current society than anything else I have read from that classic book.
- 10:22As Father Sparago would say, one of the greatest duties of a man is
- 10:28to act manfully, to have courage, to have perseverance. And yet we
- 10:33live in a culture that degrades masculinity that holds up well. They champion women
- 10:41for I guess about fifty years until that had run its course, and now
- 10:46they're champion homosexuality and transgenderism. The one thing they don't want is men who
- 10:50will stand up heroically and say, I believe in right and wrong, and
- 10:54it's going to start with me. And I'm going to be a person of
- 10:58integrity. I'm going to fight my own demons. I'm not going to be
- 11:01a victim. I'm going to pay my own way in life. I'm going
- 11:03to work hard. I'm not going to go on the system. I'm not
- 11:07going on the doll I'm not going to be a drug addict. I'm not
- 11:09going to indulge all my deviant desires. I'm actually going to be a good
- 11:16man who earns his keep, who urge his way in life, who provides
- 11:24for himself and his family, who was actually a husband to one wife for
- 11:28life to death, do his part, who raises his children, and who
- 11:33goes to church and does the right thing, no matter how difficult it is,
- 11:37and no matter how opposed it is to the wants. Some whims of
- 11:43the Progressive Democratic Party and the weak, worthless Republicans and most of them are
- 11:50weak and worthless and will stand for nothing. We need men who will stand
- 11:54for something, and they need to stand for what is good. We don't
- 12:00need a bunch of social justice warriors out there running around with Antifa and breaking
- 12:05windows and setting things on fire. We need men like our grandfathers and great
- 12:09grandfathers who built this country and raised good families, who had you know,
- 12:16seven eight, nine, ten kids. All the boys did military service,
- 12:20the girls got married and raised good Christian families. They all raised good Christian
- 12:24families and went to church. And we're not bought off by the promises of
- 12:31an easy life and welfare and abortion and indulge in all your selfish fantasies.
- 12:37We need people willing to be of service and a really willing to stand in
- 12:43the breach and say that's not right, that's not what God taught. I
- 12:48believe in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I renounce Satan and all
- 12:54his works. And Joe frickin Biden, you should ever call yourself a Catholic,
- 13:01and no priest should ever give you communion because you support killing babies.
- 13:07But we don't have that duing. We need a whole lot more of that.
- 13:11We need a whole lot more of that. So anyway, let's get
- 13:16into a what I was going to talk about today. In my last column
- 13:22from Mizzy O Day, I wrote it was just an aside. I've got
- 13:26a priest who had a great impact on me. His name is Father Dan,
- 13:33and I'm going to assume his last name is pronounced papanaut. It's obviously
- 13:39French, it is papi n e au papadout. I'm assuming you may remember
- 13:48Father Dan. Father Dan used to be on e wt N quite a bit.
- 13:52He's one of the big proponents of the Divine Mercy chaplet. In fact,
- 14:01he was ordained at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in nineteen ninety eight.
- 14:07Where you think, may think, nineteen ninety eight, Father Dan must
- 14:09be a young priest. No he's not. Father Dan came to the priesthood
- 14:15later in life. He was married and had a wife and a daughter,
- 14:20and they died. I'm not sure of the circumstances. And this is where
- 14:28Father Dan's story gets very interesting. Father Dan's wife was very devoutly Catholic,
- 14:35and I think he was a devout Catholic himself. You can imagine after that,
- 14:41he was absolutely devastated, and he had a great devotion to the Blessed
- 14:48Mother, and he was given incredible gift of visions of heaven. Following the
- 14:58death of his wife and child. Father Dan has been to heaven on multiple
- 15:03occasions. He not only this is not just a dream. I mean this
- 15:09is not just a vision. He went to heaven on several times. He
- 15:13was able to speak with his wife and daughter. He was able to hug
- 15:18his wife and daughter. They kissed him, He kissed them. He's spoken
- 15:22with our Blessed Mother. He's seen Jesus. Father Dan has actually spoken with
- 15:30the Mother of God and seeing Jesus and been to heaven. He said that
- 15:37when he first saw Jesus, and I don't know if it was more than
- 15:39one time, he fell flat down on his face, prostrate on the ground
- 15:45and could only lift his head with the encouragement of the Blessed Mother high enough
- 15:50to see the feet of Jesus. His wife and daughter asked him to become
- 15:56a priest so that he could fulfill his earthly duty given to him by God,
- 16:03so he would be able to join them in heaven one day. Father
- 16:10Dan is now the priest in a tiny little parish and one of the most
- 16:21economically depressed areas of South Carolina. It's near Darlington and Florence. There's some
- 16:26really good priests in that area. You may remember the priest in Florence denied
- 16:30communion to Joe Biden. Father Dan is in the little college town of Hartsville.
- 16:38It's a little college town, a little factory town. It's kind of
- 16:44in the middle of nowhere on the well, not far from the Peadee Rivers.
- 16:49I'm seeing me twelve miles south of the Peadee River, in the historic
- 16:55Cotton Belt area. Most of the towns are our majority Black in the area,
- 17:03a lot of poverty. Father Dan has a little church and a small
- 17:10college Catholic population and a small residential Catholic population. And I happened to wander
- 17:18through Heartsful, South Carolina several years ago. It's a bad time in my
- 17:26life. Wasn't reacting to things very well, wasn't being manful, as a
- 17:33father of Sparago would say. And just happened to be passing by. Was
- 17:41a Mary Mother of God Church or Mary Saint Mary the Virgin Mother Church,
- 17:48Roman Catholic Church of heartsful South Carolina, and at the exact time he's here
- 17:53in confession. I looked at the clock. I said, wow, this
- 17:57is kind of an odd time of day to hear confession. But hey,
- 18:00I'll pull in. I need to go to confession. So pulling in the
- 18:04parking lot, and I'm totally out of place. I mean, look,
- 18:10when a big old hill billy and jeans and a flannel shirt and boots walks
- 18:14into Catholic church, Everybody's going to look at him as like, are you
- 18:18do you belong here? You know how that goes. But yeah, I'll
- 18:22walk in and you're ever in a little side chapel and they're praying the Divine
- 18:25Mercy chaplet. But you know, Father Dan is a huge proponent of the
- 18:29Divine Mercy chaplet. So I went and nell and started pulled out my rosary,
- 18:33started praying the Divine Mercy chaplet. So I guess everybody realized I was
- 18:36actually Catholic, you know. And then following that, he walks back there,
- 18:41you just say, word, walks back into his office. I'm looking
- 18:44around, I said, someone, is he here in confessions? They said,
- 18:48yeah, you know, just just walk back there. If you if
- 18:51you if you're ready to, you know, do reconciliation. It's it's very
- 18:55informal here here, so all right. Walked in and by no means a
- 18:59traditional confession confessional, no screen, no kneeler, just it's his office with
- 19:03two chairs. And walked in and I said, are you hearing confessional?
- 19:10He said, yes, come in now. One thing you need to know
- 19:11about Father Dan. If he's five feet tall, I would be surprised.
- 19:18He is an incredibly short, small framed man with the biggest voice I think
- 19:27I have ever heard. His voice is five times the size of his body.
- 19:34It is. I mean, he could have been a Shakespearean actor.
- 19:37I mean it just like projects throughout the entire church. And it's a soft,
- 19:44very gentle voice, but very bold, one would say. So I
- 19:51walk in and I sit down, and he says, what brings you here
- 19:55today? I said, well, I'm actually just kind of wandered through town.
- 19:57I said, I'm I'm just kind of looking for a place to call
- 20:02home, and I've been looking for a farm for a long time. There
- 20:06was an area of just considering. I think I'm more of a mountain type
- 20:10though, you know, the hot weather gets to me and I really it's
- 20:14hard to leave the Appalachians, you know, it's very I've moved away at
- 20:18least five times and always come back. But anyway, he looks at me,
- 20:22he says, my son, you are home and we are your family.
- 20:30The Catholic church is your home. And I was like, what is
- 20:33this James Earl Jones talking to me, you know, But he just like
- 20:41stunned me with his voice, you know, and he was so sincere,
- 20:45and he was not saying that It's not just something that he popped off with.
- 20:49He wanted me to know that any Catholic church I walked into was my
- 20:53home. He said, we are your family and you are home. Do
- 21:00you have something you need to confess? And so I gave my confession and
- 21:03he's he's a tough confessor. I gotta tell you. He's not one of
- 21:07those where you walk in and you just you know, say what you got
- 21:11to say, and he says, okay, um, try not do it
- 21:15again. There's one priest to go to sometimes in a different town who always
- 21:19says for your for your penance. If if you could, if there's someone
- 21:22you see during this week that needs a little help, could you help him
- 21:25out and I say yes. He says, okay, that's your penance,
- 21:27and I absolve you. I mean, it's you know, it's a little
- 21:30perfunctory, but he's he's a good priest too, He's well meaning. But
- 21:33Father Dan, he's going to ask you questions. He's going to say,
- 21:37why did you do this? What were you thinking? Do you realize the
- 21:40gravity of what you've done. I mean, he's not an easy confessor.
- 21:44He's a really good one, and if you ever get chances to speak with
- 21:48him, highly recommend him. But after that, I was just very moved,
- 21:55you know, I was very moved. And it was just before it
- 22:00was the beginning of COVID. So I went home and I think that was
- 22:03the last time I actually had the opportunity to go to Mass for a good
- 22:07year. You know, the churches were closed. Those that were open were
- 22:14only allowing you to go in if you're vaccinated. I was not vaccinated.
- 22:18I can't wear a mask because I have well I inherited asthma. I have
- 22:22some respiratory conditions and putting anything over my mouth is not good, not good.
- 22:30So didn't get to good a mask for a long time after that,
- 22:33and I started watching Father Dan doing live streaming Mass, which he still does,
- 22:40and you can watch his homilies. You can watch Mass at Saint Mary
- 22:45the Virgin Mother, Roman Catholic Church every Sunday Holy Day. I think he
- 22:52does the Saturday at some of the weekday Mass. It's on their site.
- 22:55It's on YouTube. Do check it out. He's gonna blow your mind.
- 23:00The man has been to heaven. You know, I guess it was.
- 23:07Was it? Saint Thomas Aquinas said that, you know, there was no
- 23:11way animals go to heaven because they don't have a soul like humans. Father
- 23:14Dan says, that's wrong. How does he know, because he's been to
- 23:18heaven. Father Dan says, your pets are in heaven because everything you love
- 23:25that is good is in heaven, and your heavenly Father will not deprive you
- 23:30of what you love that is good. You need to hear Father Dan's he's
- 23:41he's going to boil your mind. He's going to tell you the incredible love
- 23:45that Jesus has for us, the incredible love the Blessed Mother has for us,
- 23:49the truth about the communion of Saints. You know in the Bible,
- 23:56at least Saint Paul says, are you not aware we are surrounded by so
- 24:00great a cloud of witnesses. If you could pull back the veil just once
- 24:06and see the things at Saint Paul and Father Dancy blow your mind, you
- 24:12would realize that saints and angels are around us all the time, battling with
- 24:18demons. We are very much in a spiritual warfare, and the Communion of
- 24:25Saints is our family and our allies. I'm just gonna I'm just gonna say
- 24:30I couldn't do it justice. I mean, I would try to tell you
- 24:34some of the things he said that are so very deep and so very plain
- 24:41spoken, and they come from real, true personal experience of someone you know.
- 24:49I fully expect to be beatified one day. You need to check this
- 24:56guy out. I'll put to you that play. I would to be remiss
- 25:00if I did not share this incredible priest that I stumbled upon one day.
- 25:07I have only met him one time, so I'm sure he will not remember
- 25:12me, and it wouldn't even expect him to. Well, it doesn't matter,
- 25:18but I'll never forget him. And if you ever get a chance to
- 25:22go to his church, do not hesitate. I don't care if you have
- 25:26to drive two or three hours. If you're in the area, there's actually
- 25:30Heartsfull's, some nice little town by the way, some good restaurants, really
- 25:34good fish markets, nice people, very friendly, nice people. Definitely definitely
- 25:44go to Mass at Saint Mary the Virgin Mother Church of Heartsfull, South Carolina.
- 25:48But if you can't, and even if you can, you're definitely gonna
- 25:52want to watch Father Dan's homilies. Go to their website, Saint Mary's Heartsful
- 25:56dot org, pull it up on YouTube, strap in and be ready because
- 26:06this is a different kind of priest, and I know some really good ones,
- 26:11some fantastic priests, some priests that were so profound Liken singer Jeffrey Ingham
- 26:18one of the most profound homilists I've ever heard, just deep serious theology in
- 26:26every single homily. Father Dan is a totally different breed a priest, and
- 26:34he's going to give you insights and spiritual comfort that you're probably not going to
- 26:42find in many places, if anywhere else. Actually, So anyway, y'all
- 26:49have a great day. If you ever meet Father Dan, tell him I
- 26:53said, Hi, I'm sure he won't remember me, but like I said,
- 26:56I'll never forget him. Y'all have a great one, and I'm talked
- 27:00to you tomorrow
