- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone and welcome to a new training on visibility for highly sensitive people.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Today's topic is how to stay connected or how to become connected
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: when you are not using social media.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I opened my first social media account in 2016 probably,
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: started using it in 2017 when I opened my first business.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: So this was prior to 2020 and one of the Really positive sides of having
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: a social media presence at the time was being able to connect
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: with such amazing people.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I've developed friendships, collaborations.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I was invited onto podcasts, onto events as well.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I met people I worked with that I hired as coaches,
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: life coaches, lifestyle coaches, business coaches.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: So it's an incredible tool, definitely.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: But if, like me,
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: you're in a season of your life where you no longer align with the energy
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: of social media or even its values or its intent,
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: it's important to have other options.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: And I think at the beginning, we feel a little bit blocked on how to do things differently.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: How can we actually create friendships,
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: create relationships, create connections without being on social media anymore?
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: And so I have a little bit of a routine that I have been running for clients,
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: in fact, and meaning to run for myself.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: But, you know, the time I use for myself, I'm not directly paid to use for myself.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So that's why usually the work I do for me kind of tends to happen last,
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: at least for this, because it does require time.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And so this is what I wanted to say is that We find it so hard to connect and hard
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: to find connections, hard to collaborate.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: But the way to do that is to do what most people do not do,
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: which is to take the time and to give attention with intention to things
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: that are aligned and to publications,
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: to content that can actually lead to a positive relationship.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: So you could do this with,
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I'm going to show you behind the scenes,
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: you could do this with blog posts,
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: with newsletters,
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: so in your emails, with podcast hosts, with YouTubers and with Substack.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Because I'm on Substack and I swear by it,
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I'm going to show you how I do it with Substack today.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I'm actually going to build it with you so you can see exactly how
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to share my screen.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: At least I hope I'm going to share my screen.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So I'm sharing this window.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: It's working.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: So I created a Notion
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: That database,
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: spreadsheet, and I call it Substack Connections, making friends on Substack.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: This is because when I use a word like making friends on Substack,
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: it makes it feel less threatening than saying, getting visible now.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: I find ways to negotiate and soothe my nervous system.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I'm happy to share that with you, but it's not so difficult to do, you know.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: The first column is a name, the Substack URL.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: So if it's not for Substack, it could just be URL stage.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So do I want to reach out?
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Are we in a conversation?
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Do I need to follow up?
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Did we book a collab?
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Did we agree on a guest post?
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Is the interview scheduled?
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: If it's a potential client, did I pitch anything?
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Or maybe it's just not a fit.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Here we have connection type.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: So do we have similar audience?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Is it a potential client?
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Or are we doing similar work?
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: This is important because it lets you see what kind of collaboration,
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: what kind of connection it can be.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: So I'm actually going to invert this column.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: So first connection type.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Similar audience, similar work, or is it a potential client?
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Then the stage, so I know where I'm going with this.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Then the last touch,
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: when the last time we were in contact,
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: or the first time we were in contact,
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: when I want to follow up next, if I don't have an answer, next steps.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Pitch angle,
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: if it's someone to pitch collab ideas,
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: if it's someone to collaborate with,
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: and some notes that I might have or something I want to remember that I liked
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: about this person, about their content, or something like that.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now we have this, we have the spreadsheet ready.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: What are we going to do?
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: We're going to look, we're going to use the, I'm going to go to Substack here.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: I'm making sure, yes, you're seeing the same thing as me.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: And I, in Substack, I'm going to go to home where I can see my feed.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: And I'm not going to be tempted to scroll,
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: even though Marie-Louise is here and she's my friend on Substack.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: I'm going to go here.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Actually, I could add her, but we already had a collaboration.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to go here and I'm going to search for new relationships.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: So again, if it's on YouTube, it's on YouTube.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: If it's in your podcast, you go to your podcast host or to Spotify or Apple podcast.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: If it's in your newsletter, it's a
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Work with Claude or AI.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: If you connect your email platform,
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: so Gmail or whatever you're using,
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: to Claude,
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: for instance,
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I know it's possible,
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: and I'm doing it myself,
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: and I ask him to go into my emails and look for potential collaborators.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'll show you that after writing a note.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: It was not planned, but that's kind of cool.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Collabs through Claude.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Claude actually helped me to pull out a list of potential people that I could invite
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: for my upcoming bundle.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: And I definitely used that to make a list in Notion automatically
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: where I just checked then everyone that he suggested based on who I was subscribed
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: to in my emails.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: I'll show you that right after.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: So the first thing I'm going to look for is my niche.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: So what I do, right?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to go with visibility.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: That's one keyword.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Visibility is one keyword.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Highly sensitive people.
