Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We are out of the gates on sport and state.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Glad you're with us for Hutton & Withrow presented by
- 0:05Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet.
- 0:05Speaker 2: He's Chad Withrow. I'm Jonathan Hutton.
- 0:07Speaker 1: A busy morning for you all the way through the
- 0:10Speaker 1: next two hours leading into the next round right here
- 0:12Speaker 1: on the Sporting State Network.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Chad, good morning. Good morning, Hunt.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Good to be here with you today. In the words
- 0:18Speaker 1: of Vince McMahon, you racist. How dare you stir the
- 0:25Speaker 1: pot on social media. What happened yesterday, man? We got
- 0:28Speaker 1: off air and everything hit the fan.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I mean, I've been called a retard and a racist
- 0:35Speaker 2: no short of 45 to 90 times from different people.
- 0:40Speaker 2: By the way, I mean, the 90s are back because
- 0:42Speaker 2: retard is definitely a word that is just very flippantly
- 0:45Speaker 2: thrown around. I've got an elected official for 16 years,
- 0:49Speaker 2: someone named Chris Jackson, who's called me a retard, I'm
- 0:51Speaker 2: pretty sure, on there. So retard is a word that's, hey,
- 0:55Speaker 2: for a while it went away. If you said it,
- 0:57Speaker 2: you'd get canceled. It's back. I've been called a racist retard,
- 1:02Speaker 2: which I didn't know was possible, by the way. I
- 1:03Speaker 2: thought you had to be one or the other. You
- 1:05Speaker 2: couldn't be both. But apparently I am both to Cam
- 1:08Speaker 2: Ward fans.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You have single-handedly confirmed that cancel culture is indeed over.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Cancel culture is over, although people are trying to get
- 1:17Speaker 2: me canceled. You know, this is why you guys don't
- 1:20Speaker 2: have a radio show anymore. This is why no one
- 1:23Speaker 2: watches you or cares anymore. just a word to the
- 1:27Speaker 2: wise for anybody out there. If you want to go
- 1:30Speaker 2: after someone online, the sheer fact that you're going after
- 1:33Speaker 2: them online shows that they're relevant. So the amount of
- 1:37Speaker 2: people that are hating on me on Twitter right now,
- 1:40Speaker 2: on every form of social media, first off, I want
- 1:43Speaker 2: to say welcome to the show and thank you for
- 1:46Speaker 2: supporting us and following us. And thank you. Thank you
- 1:49Speaker 2: for caring because you are disproving your own point that
- 1:52Speaker 2: nobody cares because When your response, when you're responding to
- 1:55Speaker 2: someone is nobody gives a shit what you think, you're
- 1:58Speaker 2: saying that you do give a shit what you think
- 2:01Speaker 2: or what I think because you're responding to me. So
- 2:04Speaker 2: let's stop with that. Let's stop with all that right
- 2:06Speaker 2: now to begin. Am I a racist? What did you
- 2:10Speaker 2: exactly say? For those that don't know. I'm getting to that.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Am I a racist because I said that Cam Ward
- 2:18Speaker 2: looks like an entitled punk for the way he behaved
- 2:21Speaker 2: on Sunday? before the presser? Absolutely not. I would say
- 2:26Speaker 2: that about Will Levis. I would say that about any
- 2:29Speaker 2: white Tennessee Titans or any other quarterback out there. In fact,
- 2:32Speaker 2: if you go back and watch what I said about
- 2:35Speaker 2: Will Levis, these guys are very different. Will Levis came
- 2:39Speaker 2: across as an unserious goofball that was more concerned with
- 2:44Speaker 2: mayonnaise ads that would go to the podium and talk
- 2:47Speaker 2: about a defensive player that didn't even exist on the
- 2:49Speaker 2: roster of the team that he was playing. Cam Ward
- 2:53Speaker 2: is coming across as a bit of a hothead that
- 2:56Speaker 2: likes to break tablets. He's coming across as someone that's
- 2:59Speaker 2: overly arrogant based on what he's actually accomplished in the NFL,
- 3:03Speaker 2: going back at reporters that ask him how he would
- 3:06Speaker 2: rate their performance, not having a clear explanation when Paul
- 3:11Speaker 2: Koharski questions him on how he's a good NFL quarterback
- 3:15Speaker 2: based on the results so far. And then when you're
- 3:18Speaker 2: going to sit there and it's a joke or this is,
- 3:22Speaker 2: you can cover for cam ward all that you want
- 3:24Speaker 2: okay i saw the video if he's joking about it
- 3:28Speaker 2: he did a damn poor job of showing that he's
- 3:30Speaker 2: joking about it he walked into a room i didn't
- 3:32Speaker 2: take it that way ticked off that no one was
- 3:34Speaker 2: there and he said three minutes and he looks at
- 3:37Speaker 2: his phone like like an entitled punk do i believe
- 3:42Speaker 2: that cam ward is an entitled punk i don't know
- 3:44Speaker 2: that to be a fact Every other piece of evidence
- 3:47Speaker 2: about this guy's career shows that he's not that. This
- 3:51Speaker 2: is what I said yesterday in the clip. This is
- 3:53Speaker 2: what people watch, but too many are too dumb to
- 3:56Speaker 2: fully comprehend what I'm saying. Look at Cam Ward's history.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Let's go all the way back. This guy is from Texas,
- 4:04Speaker 2: football state, didn't get opportunities out of high school even
- 4:08Speaker 2: though he was a successful quarterback. Had to go to
- 4:10Speaker 2: Incarnate Word. Went there, balled out, took a move up.
- 4:15Speaker 2: to Washington State. Went there, balled out, became a guy
- 4:19Speaker 2: that was in the Heisman conversation in Pullman, Washington. Not
- 4:23Speaker 2: easy to do. Great accomplishment. Parlays that to South Beach, Miami.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Balls out. Sets records. Miami's great. College football playoff team.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Comes across as a good leader with that team. Gets
- 4:37Speaker 2: drafted number one overall in the NFL. Gets the Titans.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Has not shown that. Has not shown that at all
- 4:43Speaker 2: with the I don't think he's shown excellent leadership abilities.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I think he's been dismissive of media members that ask
- 4:50Speaker 2: legitimate questions. I think when you lose a game to
- 4:53Speaker 2: go to 0-4 and set your team behind the eight
- 4:56Speaker 2: ball for a second straight year after starting 0-4 the
- 4:59Speaker 2: year before, a franchise that hasn't won back-to-back games since
- 5:02Speaker 2: the John Robinson administration, when you come across that way
- 5:07Speaker 2: before a press conference, you look like an entitled punk.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I would say that about anybody. That's just the reality
- 5:14Speaker 2: of the matter. Do I believe he's that? No, I don't.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Because he's proven himself at other stops along the way.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Here's what I want as a native Nashvilleian, Hutton, and
- 5:23Speaker 2: someone who follows the Titans. I want him to be
- 5:26Speaker 2: accountable for his own actions. I don't want him to
- 5:29Speaker 2: be asked a question about how he can improve and
- 5:32Speaker 2: say that the receivers need to flatten out their routes.
- 5:35Speaker 2: It's a valid excuse, by the way. Carnell Tate needs
- 5:38Speaker 2: to hold on to the football. Calvin really needs to
- 5:40Speaker 2: hold on to the football. His guys need to make plays.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Cam Ward was better on Sunday. He was. He was
- 5:46Speaker 2: better than he's been in the past. Still not good enough.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It's still not good enough. And when you're going to
- 5:51Speaker 2: the podium and Titans fans want to come back at
- 5:53Speaker 2: me and say, but they were close. They were close.
- 5:56Speaker 2: They're closer, Chad. Look at this, you retard racist. They're closer.
- 6:02Speaker 2: This is the NFL. The games are designed to be
- 6:05Speaker 2: seven points or less point spreads. It's supposed to be close.
- 6:09Speaker 2: The game in the NFL is not playing close, especially
- 6:13Speaker 2: when the opposing team benches their quarterback at halftime to
- 6:16Speaker 2: rest him because he's dinged up a little bit and
- 6:19Speaker 2: decides not to score a point in the second half,
- 6:21Speaker 2: and you still lose. And you don't score your first
- 6:25Speaker 2: touchdown in the second half until very late where you
- 6:28Speaker 2: have to go for an onside kick and the game
- 6:30Speaker 2: is over. It's not good enough. And if you are
- 6:33Speaker 2: a fan that is going to defend Cam Ward and
- 6:35Speaker 2: everything else about the organization– at all times and at
- 6:38Speaker 2: all turns, you are doing the team a disservice. You're
- 6:41Speaker 2: not helping them. You're not helping anyone. So you can
- 6:44Speaker 2: call me a racist retard. You can say that I'm malnourished,
- 6:47Speaker 2: which is one that I got overnight at 2 a.m.
- 6:49Speaker 2: from someone, which that's new. Thank you. I guess me
- 6:53Speaker 2: cutting out some of the red meat in my diet
- 6:55Speaker 2: has worked. I don't look quite as fat on this show.
- 6:57Speaker 2: So I appreciate you for saying that I look malnourished.
- 7:00Speaker 2: But Hutton, it's ridiculous. We can give honest opinions and also...
- 7:06Speaker 2: He looked like an entitled punk. Do I believe that
- 7:09Speaker 2: he is ultimately?
- 7:10Speaker 1: No.
- 7:11Speaker 2: And I said it yesterday. He's proven people wrong at
- 7:14Speaker 2: every turn. It's time to start proving me wrong. It's
- 7:17Speaker 2: time to start proving everybody else wrong. No, no, no.
- 7:20Speaker 2: It's not time now. It's been time. It was time
- 7:23Speaker 2: in the middle of last year, your rookie year. It's
- 7:26Speaker 2: time now to turn it around. The middle of.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Last year, though, they fire his offensive coordinator and his
- 7:31Speaker 1: head coach. and everybody's just going up.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Season's over. I mean, we knew it. We knew it.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Uh, they overhauled his offensive line. They overhauled wide receiver. Um,
- 7:41Speaker 1: they they've done things around him now where there are
- 7:43Speaker 1: no excuses. The wide receiving core last year was abysmal, awful. Um,
- 7:49Speaker 1: two rookies are leading the way in that group. Um,
- 7:53Speaker 1: offensive line, he stacked 55 times the most of the NFL. Um,
- 7:57Speaker 1: We know that once Callahan's fired, it's like, okay, what
- 8:01Speaker 1: do you do?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Nothing.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It's hard to lead at that point, especially as a
- 8:05Speaker 1: rookie where it's easy to lead in college where you're
- 8:08Speaker 1: the NIL guy and you're there for a year. And
- 8:12Speaker 1: everybody's there for a year practically. So everybody's on board
- 8:15Speaker 1: for that one season. It's mind-boggling to me, though, that
- 8:22Speaker 1: we are in a spot where these are not, I'm
- 8:26Speaker 1: not criticizing the questions. They're valid questions. But they are
- 8:30Speaker 1: layup questions. We're criticizing a question that was, how would
- 8:35Speaker 1: you assess your preseason performance? That was Stillman's question. That
- 8:41Speaker 1: was the initial question. Paul is asking, how are you
- 8:44Speaker 1: a good quarterback? How is that a difficult question to answer?
- 8:50Speaker 2: It's not. It's not being overly critical.
- 8:53Speaker 1: It is a question that players get all the time.
- 8:56Speaker 1: How would you assess your performance? I mean, that's fair.
- 9:01Speaker 1: And the coaches are asked that all the time.
- 9:03Speaker 2: All the time.
- 9:04Speaker 1: But yet, somehow, you have Bobani Jones. He's on his podcast.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Check this out, where Bobani Jones... If you want to
- 9:15Speaker 1: see two guys who are just clueless about this story
- 9:19Speaker 1: and about where we are on the timeline of Cam Ward, I.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Present Bomani Jones and his partner, Powder P. Did you
- 9:29Speaker 2: see the thing that happened with Cam Ward?
- 9:31Speaker 3: And it doesn't sound like it was his fault.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Whatever is going on between him and the media there
- 9:36Speaker 2: is super weird.
- 9:38Speaker 3: You only have a media go that hard at the quarterback,
- 9:43Speaker 3: let alone the young quarterback on a team that nobody
- 9:46Speaker 3: expects to be good, with the consent of either coaching
- 9:51Speaker 3: or management. I don't know what they are telling people
- 9:55Speaker 3: about him, but it's i don't know how that turns
- 9:58Speaker 3: around everybody's.
- 10:00Speaker 2: He was the number one overall pick last year.
- 10:03Speaker 3: The only thing that to me seems to be his
- 10:06Speaker 3: saving grace right now is is there a quarterback in
- 10:11Speaker 3: this upcoming draft that's so good that you can do
- 10:16Speaker 3: a josh rosen type of situation on him because i
- 10:18Speaker 3: just i mean it just Everything about it seems sour.
- 10:22Speaker 3: And in a way, again, I don't think I've ever
- 10:24Speaker 3: felt like I've seen anything like this.
- 10:27Speaker 1: But Monty Jones has never seen anything like this. I
- 10:31Speaker 1: present the national media. Everyone bow down.
- 10:34Speaker 2: To us, Chad. The national media is too harsh. The
- 10:37Speaker 2: national media, arbiters of hate, toughest media group in America.
- 10:41Speaker 2: The five people who traveled with the team. We're so tough.
- 10:45Speaker 2: The five people that traveled with the team, every single
- 10:48Speaker 2: one of them, guys, non-story, he's joking, this and this.
- 10:51Speaker 2: We were late because we're talking to Jeffrey Simmons. They're
- 10:54Speaker 2: defending the guy in this instance. They're not too tough.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And also, did the ownership give a code red? Somebody's
- 11:03Speaker 2: allowing it type thing?
- 11:04Speaker 1: He's like, there's a leak. Here's the second part of this.
- 11:07Speaker 1: He's saying there's a leak within the building telling insiders.
- 11:10Speaker 1: to go after Cam Ward, which is just, it's the opposite.
- 11:13Speaker 1: If you speak his name, it better be good or
- 11:15Speaker 1: you're not going to be allowed in the building. And
- 11:18Speaker 1: hostility and nepotism is to blame, not Cam Ward. It's
- 11:21Speaker 1: hostility and nepotism, Chad. And the other guy is no
- 11:25Speaker 1: Edward R.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Murrow. I mean, he needs to, DBAP, listen to him
- 11:30Speaker 2: here about the media. It's just so wild how hostile
- 11:33Speaker 2: it is. I've never seen anything like that. That's not how...
- 11:39Speaker 2: American media works.
- 11:40Speaker 3: No, especially not where the teams have so much control
- 11:44Speaker 3: over the media guys.
- 11:46Speaker 2: They're talking about the coverage of Cam Ward.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Now, they did have that one guy that came and
- 11:49Speaker 3: asked him that question, and I think they took his
- 11:51Speaker 3: press pass away from him. But then we saw more
- 11:53Speaker 3: stuff come after. Somebody's telling these guys this is okay.
- 11:57Speaker 3: And it's interesting because they have an obvious ownership problem
- 12:00Speaker 3: with that team. The only thing worse than Bud Adams
- 12:03Speaker 3: being your owner is a second-generation Bud Adams situation. And
- 12:07Speaker 3: that's what they've got. This team doesn't look good. The
- 12:09Speaker 3: organization doesn't seem to be strong. People around them have
- 12:12Speaker 3: been complaining about Amy Strzok for as long as I
- 12:15Speaker 3: can think of since she got there. The quarterback may
- 12:19Speaker 3: be a reflection of an issue. But their issues are grand,
- 12:23Speaker 3: and they are giant, and it all seems that right
- 12:26Speaker 3: now the face of it is their 20-something-year-old quarterback who,
- 12:31Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know. I don't know what exactly
- 12:34Speaker 3: to make of it, but it's bad.
- 12:38Speaker 2: This is the same organization that ran off Mike Vrabel,
- 12:42Speaker 2: gave away A.J. Brown, and said no thanks to Eric Henry.
- 12:47Speaker 2: When you put it like that.
- 12:50Speaker 1: If you want to see two dudes that don't have
- 12:52Speaker 1: an effing clue, right there is a prime example.
- 12:56Speaker 2: This is the number one overall pick. Number one overall.
- 13:02Speaker 2: This is the definition of coddling. This is it.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I don't know how we've got to this level where
- 13:08Speaker 1: we look at his play and somehow assess, guys, don't
- 13:13Speaker 1: go hard on Cam. I've never seen anything like this
- 13:16Speaker 1: in the national media.
- 13:17Speaker 3: What?
- 13:18Speaker 2: What?
- 13:19Speaker 1: I mean, Will Levis says, hold my beer. Unbelievable that,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I mean, you just assume that it's a leak in
- 13:26Speaker 1: the building. Telling us that it's okay.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Who's telling us? His play. The offense's play. They can't
- 13:31Speaker 2: score 10 points.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I mean, it's unreal that all of a sudden the
- 13:38Speaker 1: national media is compared to Philadelphia or New York, or
- 13:41Speaker 1: they need to take notes on how to actually– they're
- 13:44Speaker 1: now the standard of what it's like to be very
- 13:48Speaker 1: polite in the media.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Don't go to Nashville, though. You don't want to play there.
- 13:51Speaker 2: This is not how American media works. I know those
- 13:55Speaker 2: two follow politics. I'm quite certain of it. Look how
- 13:58Speaker 2: politics are covered in America right now. And you think
- 14:01Speaker 2: because Cam Ward gets a question from Paul Koharski about
- 14:05Speaker 2: why do you believe you're a good quarterback, that that's hard?
- 14:07Speaker 1: And a question about how would you assess your preseason?
- 14:11Speaker 1: How would you rate your preseason? That was the question
- 14:14Speaker 1: that got everything. And all you said, how would you
- 14:16Speaker 1: rate it?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Not good. Oh, okay. That is what... I mean, it
- 14:21Speaker 2: is absurd. This is not how American media works is
- 14:25Speaker 2: my favorite quote in that whole exchange. What they didn't say, though, Chad,
- 14:29Speaker 2: was that he's a good quarterback. They never said he's
- 14:30Speaker 2: a good quarterback.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Never.
- 14:32Speaker 2: No, they're talking about Josh Rosen. with them also in
- 14:35Speaker 2: the same breath. So, I mean, they clearly don't believe
- 14:37Speaker 2: that he's a good quarterback or that he's done a
- 14:40Speaker 2: good job.
- 14:40Speaker 1: What they're doing is the organization is trying to speak
- 14:44Speaker 1: everything into existence. That's the problem. There's nothing that backs
- 14:48Speaker 1: that up. And we discussed this in the preseason. You
- 14:51Speaker 1: can be all gas, no break. You can be BTA
- 14:54Speaker 1: and go against the Seattle Steelers. You have to back
- 14:56Speaker 1: that up.
- 14:57Speaker 2: J.C. Latham is talking. He's got to back that up.
- 15:00Speaker 2: If you want to chirp, that's fine.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But again, Jeffrey Simmons does that and actually does that
- 15:05Speaker 1: on the field. We have not seen that. But they continue.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Sala did it yesterday. He's going to be a good quarterback.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I'm telling you guys. Cam's going to be fine. You
- 15:15Speaker 1: can't just speak that into existence. And that's all they're
- 15:19Speaker 1: doing right now.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Then why do you throw it one out of 15
- 15:22Speaker 2: plays in the red zone? If you have so much
- 15:24Speaker 2: faith in your quarterback and you believe in him, why
- 15:27Speaker 2: are you taking your quarterback off the field? on a
- 15:29Speaker 2: fourth and goal and going with a wildcat formation and
- 15:34Speaker 2: direct snapping it to someone else. I mean, there are
- 15:36Speaker 2: a lot of follow-up questions to be asked of Robert
- 15:38Speaker 2: Sala in this too, who also, by the way, has
- 15:40Speaker 2: not done a good job so far this year. And
- 15:43Speaker 2: the proof is in the results. They're 0-4. And I'm
- 15:46Speaker 2: sick and tired of hearing from Titans fans about they're closer. Guys,
- 15:52Speaker 2: you're down 24-7 against the actual Baltimore Ravens at halftime.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson was eating your lunch. The entire first half.
- 16:00Speaker 2: He gets dinged up. There's an ankle sprain. If it
- 16:03Speaker 2: were the Buffalo Bills he was playing, probably going to
- 16:06Speaker 2: play in that second half. They're going to wrap it up.
- 16:08Speaker 2: They're going to shoot him up with Toradol, and he's
- 16:11Speaker 2: going to get out there and play. But because it's
- 16:13Speaker 2: the Tennessee Titans that are 0-3, not threatening at all offensively,
- 16:18Speaker 2: then you can sit your quarterback the entire second half.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And essentially... run a muddle huddle, ruckus from the second
- 16:26Speaker 2: half and get out of the game, where the Titans,
- 16:28Speaker 2: they kicked a field goal the entire second half until
- 16:32Speaker 2: that last drive with a touchdown, and they get it
- 16:35Speaker 2: to 24-18 and then get an onside kick and don't
- 16:37Speaker 2: get it, and it's over. That game was not as
- 16:39Speaker 2: close as the final score. I'm thrilled they covered the spread.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I bet on them to cover the spread, the 11.5.
- 16:44Speaker 2: So thank you for that last touchdown. Cam Ward was
- 16:47Speaker 2: better in that game. It's still not anywhere close yet.
- 16:51Speaker 2: to good enough. And everybody's got to acknowledge that. But
- 16:54Speaker 2: it doesn't matter what I say. Like people can call
- 16:57Speaker 2: me a racist retard, malnourished, balding, whatever you want to
- 17:01Speaker 2: call me. I don't care. I don't care. Like that's fine.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Take your anger and your frustration out on me. That's
- 17:08Speaker 2: what's happening right now. The first person that's got to
- 17:11Speaker 2: be accountable for this is Cam Ward. The first person
- 17:14Speaker 2: that has to acknowledge he's not good enough right now
- 17:17Speaker 2: is Cam Ward. And when I see a guy in
- 17:19Speaker 2: the media room standing there, scrolling his phone, listening to music,
- 17:25Speaker 2: and not jokingly saying, NFL on Fox posted that, by
- 17:30Speaker 2: the way. They didn't see a joke in that either.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I didn't see it. Cam Ward's not happy with no
- 17:34Speaker 2: one in the press conference as he walks in. You
- 17:36Speaker 2: don't look like somebody who's accountable after another loss. When
- 17:40Speaker 2: I see that, I want to see more accountability and
- 17:43Speaker 2: the admission that what I'm doing isn't good enough. Not
- 17:46Speaker 2: everybody else, not flattening out routes, not the defense, not
- 17:50Speaker 2: the offensive line. I need Cam Ward to go and say,
- 17:53Speaker 2: what I'm doing is not good enough, and I've got
- 17:56Speaker 2: to be better. We need more of that first, and
- 17:59Speaker 2: then maybe we'll see some improvement after.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I felt last year he was accountable. It was a
- 18:04Speaker 1: different vibe that I had. It's not the same. And
- 18:10Speaker 1: it is just mind-numbing. how we can watch this same
- 18:14Speaker 1: result and somehow there's improvement. He's had good practices. Tell
- 18:19Speaker 1: me where he had a good week of practices. I
- 18:22Speaker 1: haven't seen that. There's no consistency. The only thing consistent
- 18:26Speaker 1: is the inconsistency. So, okay, he had a good game.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Great. Good. Now do it again. Be the number one
- 18:33Speaker 2: overall pick and do it again. Be elite.
- 18:36Speaker 1: The Titans drafted him. They drafted a good quarterback. They
- 18:39Speaker 1: drafted a quarterback. They told us by drafting him where
- 18:42Speaker 1: they did, he was going to be great.
- 18:45Speaker 2: So let's see it.
- 18:47Speaker 1: And somehow it's gone from that stance and the selling
- 18:51Speaker 1: of hope, they're selling hope, to don't you dare speak
- 18:55Speaker 1: about our golden child.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And it's ridiculous. And Hutton, also, the Will Levis comparisons
- 19:03Speaker 2: that I keep getting. You didn't say that about Will Levis.
- 19:05Speaker 2: I mentioned that to you. You wouldn't call him a punk.
- 19:07Speaker 2: People have a real problem with the word punk, which whatever.
- 19:10Speaker 2: That's what it comes across to me. Pick your other
- 19:12Speaker 2: word you want to use in that. Will Levis, though,
- 19:16Speaker 2: I hated the Will Levis draft pick. Immediately you hated it.
- 19:19Speaker 2: People hated Will Levis from the start. And the argument
- 19:22Speaker 2: at the time was, oh, those are just Tennessee fans
- 19:24Speaker 2: that hate Will Levis. That's why they're mad about him
- 19:26Speaker 2: being picked the second round. That's all that is. But
- 19:29Speaker 2: that's not just what it is because that wasn't what
- 19:31Speaker 2: it was with me. I didn't love the guy in college.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I didn't like his demeanor at times. I was skeptical
- 19:37Speaker 2: of that pick from the very beginning. I was not
- 19:39Speaker 2: skeptical of Cam Ward. I had faith in Cam Ward.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I liked the pick. The Titans had to go quarterback,
- 19:45Speaker 2: and to me, he was the best quarterback there. Could
- 19:47Speaker 2: you have traded back? Could you have done everything? Yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 2: I would have been fine with it. that too. But
- 19:51Speaker 2: if you're sticking and picking, to me, Cam Ward was
- 19:53Speaker 2: the pick. So I'm not someone who's been this unbeliever
- 19:57Speaker 2: in Cam Ward ever. and not showing any faith in
- 20:00Speaker 2: the guy from day one. I was that way with
- 20:02Speaker 2: Will Levis, by the way. Never liked it. Never liked
- 20:05Speaker 2: the pick. Never believed in him. Trashed it from start
- 20:09Speaker 2: to finish. I'm not that way with Cam Ward. He
- 20:11Speaker 2: has earned my lack of faith in him. He's truly
- 20:15Speaker 2: earned it. Over the course of now a season and
- 20:19Speaker 2: a quarter of another season, essentially, he has earned my
- 20:23Speaker 2: lack of faith in him. Not just with his play.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Not just with careless plays like we saw. This past
- 20:28Speaker 2: weekend where he's trying to pitch it back and nearly fumbles.
- 20:31Speaker 2: He's throwing it forward. Tony Pollard should have caught it.
- 20:33Speaker 2: But when you make plays like that consistently, the way
- 20:36Speaker 2: Will Levis would, that we crushed him over. And then
- 20:39Speaker 2: with his demeanor at the podium, with the lack of
- 20:42Speaker 2: accountability throughout the season. It's the timeline of all that stuff.
- 20:45Speaker 2: We can count numerous instances of this also. Look, he's
- 20:49Speaker 2: earned my lack of faith in him right now. It's
- 20:52Speaker 2: on him to go and not just improve, but start
- 20:54Speaker 2: winning football games and consistently playing winning football and looking
- 20:59Speaker 2: not just like a mediocre NFL quarterback, Hutton, but looking
- 21:02Speaker 2: like the number one overall pick. It's time.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I mean, it is year two. We're in October. You've
- 21:08Speaker 1: got the offensive coordinator who wanted to trade up. He
- 21:12Speaker 1: was the head coach of the Giants, wanted to trade
- 21:15Speaker 1: up with the Titans at the time to draft the guys.
- 21:18Speaker 1: they're going to give Brian Dable more time than four
- 21:21Speaker 1: games with this. But, Chad, it's not even about the fumbles.
- 21:26Speaker 2: He was doing that in college. That carried over. It's
- 21:28Speaker 2: the footwork.
- 21:29Speaker 1: It's the accuracy. Those things have not improved. Paul points
- 21:35Speaker 1: this out all the time. He does a great job
- 21:36Speaker 1: with this on the side. Those things are very similar
- 21:40Speaker 1: throughout the two years, a year and a half. That's
- 21:44Speaker 1: where the development has to happen. And we're not seeing that.
- 21:47Speaker 2: And somehow.
- 21:48Speaker 1: The fact is he's lost to Geno Smith, Jameis Winston,
- 21:54Speaker 1: and a half of Tyler Huntley.
- 21:56Speaker 2: And he's, oh, guys, he's getting better.
- 21:59Speaker 1: You know, it's not like he's being out-dueled by, you know,
- 22:02Speaker 1: future Hall of Famers here. And the other one was
- 22:07Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts. You know, he's not listed in the top
- 22:12Speaker 1: ten quarterbacks. No one lists him there.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Point being, like, outplay them.
- 22:17Speaker 1: And they could barely move the football in the first
- 22:19Speaker 1: half of those games. There's an issue with the whole–
- 22:25Speaker 1: the fact that even the outside national media thinks that
- 22:29Speaker 1: there's something going on here with leaks.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Give me a break on that. It's unreal. When is
- 22:36Speaker 2: enough enough? A comment I keep getting back from a
- 22:39Speaker 2: lot of Titans fans is just let the kid develop.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Let the kid– hey, they're just kids. He's only 24
- 22:44Speaker 2: years old. He's only played college football before. at three
- 22:47Speaker 2: different places before. He's underdeveloped. Just let him develop. He
- 22:51Speaker 2: needs time to develop. Just shut up, guys. Stop criticizing
- 22:54Speaker 2: him and let him develop. When is enough enough? Is
- 22:57Speaker 2: it 0-6? Is it 0-10? Hutton, is it 0-17? You
- 23:01Speaker 2: know as well as.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I do, if this were next year and not this year,
- 23:05Speaker 1: if this were the new stadium, he'd be bitched. First
- 23:09Speaker 1: year of the stadium. The coach's job is.
- 23:12Speaker 2: To be on the line. We know that. This is just...
- 23:16Speaker 2: You know, get to the new era. That's what it is.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And he is the marketing arm of all of it.
- 23:25Speaker 1: It's him and Jeffrey Simmons, but, you know, Simmons is
- 23:29Speaker 1: up there in the career. They're putting their entire rosters
- 23:33Speaker 1: based on Cam Ward. And that's an issue now, once again.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm just baffled. Me too. You feel like you're
- 23:45Speaker 2: being pranked. I thought the Giants lost where they lost
- 23:49Speaker 2: to famous Jameis, who then went and philosophized afterwards. And
- 23:54Speaker 2: he did it again after their next win. But I
- 23:56Speaker 2: thought with that putrid offensive performance and then having a
- 24:00Speaker 2: chance to win it in the end, I was shocked
- 24:03Speaker 2: that they had a chance to do it. And then
- 24:05Speaker 2: he just tosses a lollipop to a safety and I
- 24:08Speaker 2: thought that was the day that the Titans fan base
- 24:10Speaker 2: lost hope in Cam Ward. And boy, was I proven
- 24:13Speaker 2: wrong yesterday. And I'm also, Brooke says, the word punk,
- 24:17Speaker 2: everybody's saying has racial overtones. No, it doesn't. So we
- 24:22Speaker 2: can't say punk rock? Will Levis behaved like a punk
- 24:25Speaker 2: at times. Aaron Rodgers looks like a punk on the field.
- 24:29Speaker 2: And he's a 43-year-old white man. I mean, there are
- 24:32Speaker 2: times where he also looks like a punk. It's just,
- 24:35Speaker 2: come on, people. He's a bad NFL quarterback right now.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I want him to be a good NFL quarterback. But
- 24:41Speaker 2: if you're going to be a bad NFL quarterback, the
- 24:43Speaker 2: last thing that I want to see from any franchise
- 24:45Speaker 2: quarterback in any market that has an NFL team is
- 24:48Speaker 2: to not roll teammates and everyone else under the bus
- 24:51Speaker 2: and to hold yourself accountable for it. He has a
- 24:53Speaker 2: very difficult time holding himself accountable repeatedly. That's a problem
- 24:57Speaker 2: that he's going to have to correct. There's a head
- 24:59Speaker 2: coach in Nashville right now. who says it's about winning
- 25:02Speaker 2: or losing. And that's just it. The whole narrative shaping.
- 25:05Speaker 2: They're trying to shape a narrative. And the head coach
- 25:08Speaker 2: went on Rich Eisen's show back in August and said, yeah,
- 25:11Speaker 2: it's just about wins or lose.
- 25:13Speaker 1: You win or you lose. That's really all it comes
- 25:15Speaker 1: down to. So they're 0-4. If you want the narrative
- 25:18Speaker 1: to change, win football games. Actually do that. And don't
- 25:22Speaker 1: wait until December to do it. And by the way,
- 25:24Speaker 1: one of the three wins we're giving him credit for,
- 25:26Speaker 1: the Arizona Cardinals stumbled on the one-yard line.
- 25:29Speaker 2: So.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Give me more than just give me time. Produce wins,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and things will change.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Here's the good news. You've got another 0-4 team coming
- 25:38Speaker 2: to your house on Sunday. Also, you're a touchdown underdog.
- 25:43Speaker 2: It's a get-right game for the Texans. That's how they're
- 25:45Speaker 2: looking at it. At home. That's how they're looking at it.
- 25:48Speaker 2: The Titans have to win this game. We said it
- 25:50Speaker 2: about the Jets game before the year. There's no excuse.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Go win this game. If you want to start to
- 25:55Speaker 2: change things, then start winning football games. It starts by
- 25:59Speaker 2: beating a fellow 0-4 team at home.
- 26:03Speaker 1: We do a lot of good, but again, the vibe
- 26:06Speaker 1: is it's a get-right game for Houston, and it's just
- 26:09Speaker 1: the 0-4 Titans.
- 26:10Speaker 2: You might be surprised with the pick that I'm going
- 26:12Speaker 2: to have later in the week when we start to
- 26:14Speaker 2: do our hard rock bet picks.
- 26:16Speaker 1: You might be surprised. Chad's going to win back the fans.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Winning back the fans.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Come to me. Come to me, everyone. Let's go. It's
- 26:25Speaker 2: like him and Vanderbilt. It's Chad and Vanderbilt all over again.
- 26:28Speaker 2: As my buddy always says, whenever there's a lot of
- 26:30Speaker 2: talk in a group text about trashing a team, once
- 26:33Speaker 2: the game ends and the team wins, I, for one,
- 26:36Speaker 2: never doubted these kids. Just stay silent and say, I
- 26:40Speaker 2: never doubted these boys. Not once during this game. Coming up.
- 26:44Speaker 2: A lot of that during the Tennessee-Auburn game on Saturday.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I never doubted these kids. Never doubted for a moment.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Not for one second. We spent a lot of time
- 26:51Speaker 2: discussing quarterback in Nashville. The head coach in Knoxville doesn't
- 26:55Speaker 2: want to talk quarterback. That's next year on Out to Withrow.
- 26:58Speaker 2: This year, the party's getting even bigger. Hey, there's Jay Boyd.
- 27:01Speaker 2: They know me. This party, everybody's somebody. And Hard Rock
- 27:05Speaker 2: Bet has something for everyone. Plus, new customers bid $ 5

- 28:19Speaker 2: Rock Beth. Made some good plays, made some bad plays
- 28:23Speaker 2: over the weekend hunting. But last weekend, ancient history. We win.
- 28:28Speaker 2: We win moving forward. And we're going to have a
- 28:30Speaker 2: parlay for you tomorrow. We'll have our locks on Thursday.
- 28:33Speaker 2: We'll have a prop on Friday. Let's go win.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Absolutely. That's our motto every single day. We're going to
- 28:41Speaker 1: win on the show. Chad, why is Heupel so not
- 28:48Speaker 1: wanting to address the quarterback situation? Is this to appease
- 28:52Speaker 1: guys behind the scenes? Is there really any gamesmanship here?
- 28:57Speaker 1: I don't see how they use advantage.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I think there is. There's nothing that benefits Josh Heupel
- 29:03Speaker 2: by announcing a starting quarterback. So like saying that you
- 29:07Speaker 2: guys are going to find out on Saturday with everyone else.
- 29:09Speaker 2: We're going to review the film. We're going to watch
- 29:10Speaker 2: practice this week. And then we'll announce a starter on Saturday.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I mean, I think Ryan Silverfield probably thinks he's going
- 29:16Speaker 2: to get George McIntyre as the starter. And, you know,
- 29:19Speaker 2: the difference in game planning is one guy might run
- 29:22Speaker 2: some more design plays than the other is basically it.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I'll also say from Josh Hybel's perspective, it doesn't really
- 29:28Speaker 2: benefit him to announce a starter now. So I understand
- 29:31Speaker 2: not saying who you're going to start at quarterback. But
- 29:33Speaker 2: we got a clip. This is from him at his
- 29:35Speaker 2: press conference on Monday. This was the seventh question in
- 29:39Speaker 2: a row. to start the press conference about the quarterback situation.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Here was Josh Heupel's response. As you're going through the
- 29:45Speaker 2: quarterback decision, are you evaluating differently to determine who's better
- 29:49Speaker 2: equipped for? Okay, next question. I'm done with quarterbacks. Politely.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Hey, equal opportunity there. I like that, you know,
- 30:01Speaker 2: sometimes you're quicker to go back at a man who's
- 30:03Speaker 2: asking the question again. But that young lady did not
- 30:07Speaker 2: get the Teresa Walker treatment at Titans Press Corps. With that,
- 30:11Speaker 2: I mean, he cut off the young lady asking the
- 30:13Speaker 2: question also. He did, I saw from multiple people, he
- 30:17Speaker 2: went by and apologized politely. After the press conference, he said, hey,
- 30:21Speaker 2: you didn't do anything wrong. You know, I just was
- 30:23Speaker 2: ready to move on. Not a bad question, yada, yada, yada.
- 30:26Speaker 2: And apologized to the young woman who asked that question.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Here's what I would say about this. That's fine. I
- 30:34Speaker 2: understand the motivation not to want to continue talking about
- 30:37Speaker 2: quarterback when you're not going to say anything about it
- 30:39Speaker 2: and not when the press isn't taking the cues to
- 30:42Speaker 2: move on to something else because you're giving them a
- 30:44Speaker 2: bunch of non-answers. You might be a little frustrated or irritated. Also, Hutton,
- 30:49Speaker 2: it's the only story about Tennessee football right now. It's
- 30:52Speaker 2: the top story. It's the one everybody's talking about. How
- 30:55Speaker 2: are you going to handle George McIntyre and Faison Brandon,
- 30:58Speaker 2: not just this week, But throughout the rest of the season,
- 31:01Speaker 2: how hurt was he? Is that a convenient comeback on
- 31:05Speaker 2: a Monday to say, oh, well, he was hurt, and
- 31:07Speaker 2: that was a big contributing factor to it to protect
- 31:09Speaker 2: your young quarterback, which I also don't disagree with that
- 31:12Speaker 2: decision to help protect him because of his play in
- 31:15Speaker 2: that situation. But where do you fall on this? Are
- 31:18Speaker 2: you mad at Josh Heupel for doing that? Do you
- 31:20Speaker 2: feel like it's over the top to cut somebody off?
- 31:23Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 31:24Speaker 1: No, I mean– I think he's just tired. This is
- 31:27Speaker 1: the same question. He's like, I'm going to say the
- 31:29Speaker 1: same answer. Let me cut it off. You know, it
- 31:31Speaker 1: sets the tone. Like, I'll cut it off here. That
- 31:33Speaker 1: way there's no follow-up. I get that.
- 31:36Speaker 2: This is Josh Heifel.
- 31:37Speaker 1: I mean, like, if we're talking to him at SEC
- 31:39Speaker 1: Media Days, whenever they're having the, I guess it was the,
- 31:45Speaker 1: was it the Joe Milton and Hendon Hooker year where
- 31:48Speaker 1: he just didn't want to talk about it with us?
- 31:51Speaker 1: Or it may have been right after that with Nico
- 31:54Speaker 1: in the competition or whatever. um he doesn't like talking
- 31:57Speaker 1: about those battles um okay that's fine but this is
- 32:02Speaker 1: a huge story and it's not going to go away
- 32:04Speaker 1: just based on one game or one performance because we're
- 32:08Speaker 1: going to see where Brandon's going to get healthy and
- 32:12Speaker 1: he was the he was the guy coming out of
- 32:14Speaker 1: camp and there's also been a trend where the backup
- 32:18Speaker 1: plays better under Hypel, whenever he comes off the bench,
- 32:21Speaker 1: and he kind of takes over. We've seen that too.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Or a guy who doesn't practice well but plays well.
- 32:27Speaker 1: That's also been a trend under him. That's going to continue.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I like what we saw from McIntyre. I would say
- 32:35Speaker 1: he's no different, though, than Faison Brandon, where we will
- 32:38Speaker 1: see things where he can be composed, but will we
- 32:42Speaker 1: see consistency? That's hard to do. especially with the schedule
- 32:46Speaker 1: coming up. He's going to use both of them. I
- 32:48Speaker 1: think this is more about just not having to address
- 32:51Speaker 1: it and making sure both guys are happy about it.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I get that sense.
- 32:55Speaker 1: It's like he kind of said that there was word
- 32:59Speaker 1: getting out right at the end of camp that McIntyre
- 33:01Speaker 1: was making a late push. And you came on and
- 33:03Speaker 1: said what? Faison Brand is the starter. You'd be like,
- 33:08Speaker 1: The message is what it is. I think we know
- 33:09Speaker 1: who's starting based on the way the game turned out.
- 33:12Speaker 1: And this is a good game for McIntyre to go
- 33:14Speaker 1: on the road to do this.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, look, again, I don't blame him. He shouldn't announce
- 33:20Speaker 2: a starter until Saturday. He doesn't have to. So just, hey,
- 33:23Speaker 2: when you guys turn on the broadcast, you'll see who's
- 33:25Speaker 2: starting and who's warming up as a starter on Saturday.
- 33:27Speaker 2: We'll all find out together at the same time. I'm
- 33:30Speaker 2: totally fine with that. The way Josh Heupel handles the
- 33:33Speaker 2: quarterbacks moving forward, is going to be the tale of
- 33:37Speaker 2: this Tennessee season. Why? They've got a defense that's going
- 33:41Speaker 2: to keep them in every game. I really believe that.
- 33:44Speaker 2: They've got a top four or five defense right now,
- 33:46Speaker 2: and we've seen quite a bit of the season at
- 33:48Speaker 2: this point. We're five games in, so we're nearing that
- 33:53Speaker 2: halfway point after this week of the season. Tennessee's defense
- 33:56Speaker 2: looks legit. They're going to give them a chance in
- 33:58Speaker 2: most every game. So they need a quarterback that can
- 34:01Speaker 2: go 8 for 10 for 86 yards. You know, in
- 34:05Speaker 2: certain games like George McIntyre did in a half of football, right?
- 34:08Speaker 2: If you double that production and that efficiency, that's exactly
- 34:13Speaker 2: what Tennessee needs. Faison Brandon is going to be a
- 34:16Speaker 2: bigger playmaker than George McIntyre. He can make something happen.
- 34:20Speaker 2: He can be electric with his ability to run. I
- 34:23Speaker 2: believe that ultimately he's the bigger, higher ceiling between the two,
- 34:27Speaker 2: and he can make a bigger play in a game.
- 34:30Speaker 2: He can't come out looking like a deer in the
- 34:32Speaker 2: headlights for back-to-back weeks the way he did. He looked terrified.
- 34:36Speaker 2: He looked confident and composed at Georgia Tech in that
- 34:38Speaker 2: game and sure of himself. He did. Looking at his
- 34:42Speaker 2: eyes on the television broadcast, you could tell he was
- 34:44Speaker 2: seeing ghosts. He didn't quite know what was going on.
- 34:47Speaker 2: He was not confident at all. Josh Heupel made the
- 34:49Speaker 2: right decision to go with George McIntyre. They need both.
- 34:52Speaker 2: They need both moving forward. This is not an either-or
- 34:55Speaker 2: to me. You're starting George McIntyre for the remainder of
- 34:58Speaker 2: the season. Faison Brandon will start again. Faison Brandon will
- 35:02Speaker 2: enter a game either due to injury or poor play again.
- 35:05Speaker 2: You need, if Brandon is in fact banged up the
- 35:08Speaker 2: way they're claiming, and I think he is, rest him
- 35:11Speaker 2: up this week. Start George McIntyre. Let him watch from
- 35:15Speaker 2: the sideline and see if the game slows down for him.
- 35:18Speaker 2: In the week after that, you've got Alabama. You're going
- 35:20Speaker 2: to need both those guys. I'm going to go ahead
- 35:22Speaker 2: and say it. Alabama's going to score points, even on
- 35:24Speaker 2: a good Tennessee defense. You're going to need both of
- 35:27Speaker 2: those guys to perform well. in order to have a
- 35:29Speaker 2: chance against Alabama in that offense. No doubt. Because that's
- 35:32Speaker 2: a game where I don't think you're getting away with
- 35:34Speaker 2: scoring 24 points like you did against Auburn in that game.
- 35:37Speaker 2: You're going to have to score into the 30s if
- 35:40Speaker 2: you're going to have a chance to beat Alabama. Way
- 35:43Speaker 2: better than Texas' offense. Texas' defense is a lot better
- 35:46Speaker 2: than Alabama's defense, but that offense is way better. So
- 35:50Speaker 2: Tennessee needs both moving forward.
- 35:52Speaker 1: The one area where I think it could have been
- 35:54Speaker 1: handled a lot better is with the injury itself. Because
- 35:57Speaker 1: in the game, that wasn't really addressed. He wasn't on
- 36:00Speaker 1: the injury report. So, like, he's got an injury now.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Okay. I mean, that's fine. I'd take them at their word.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Of course he would.
- 36:07Speaker 1: He got lit up against Texas. But my perception was
- 36:13Speaker 1: he just got yanked. You know, like, because of how
- 36:16Speaker 1: he was playing. Does that carry over? Do you look
- 36:21Speaker 1: over your shoulder now because.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Of how fast the hook came? from the coach.
- 36:26Speaker 1: That's another storyline to follow for both guys. He made
- 36:31Speaker 1: the right call. They won the game because he did
- 36:33Speaker 1: that when he did it. So I'm not criticizing the move,
- 36:38Speaker 1: but the halftime interview, it wasn't like the guy, he
- 36:42Speaker 1: said like, yeah, he's been banged up and it was
- 36:45Speaker 1: just kind of like, he just doesn't, he doesn't have it.
- 36:47Speaker 1: He didn't have it today or he's not, you know,
- 36:49Speaker 1: it doesn't feel right or whatever. I didn't take it
- 36:52Speaker 1: like injury initially. And it could be an injury, but
- 36:56Speaker 1: normally you just lean on that. He didn't lean on that,
- 36:58Speaker 1: and I don't know why.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I go back to the injury when it happened, and
- 37:03Speaker 2: I'm in the stadium, and he's walking off the field.
- 37:05Speaker 2: The way he was holding his shoulder pad, he broke
- 37:07Speaker 2: his collarbone. The way he landed on it, body rolled
- 37:10Speaker 2: over the top of him. He's going to be out
- 37:11Speaker 2: for an extended period of time. I don't know exactly
- 37:13Speaker 2: what happened. Tennessee's not going to reveal it. They do
- 37:15Speaker 2: a really good job of eliminating leaks. Within that program,
- 37:19Speaker 2: there's not a lot that gets out with specifics on
- 37:22Speaker 2: an injury unless a guy's out for the year. So
- 37:26Speaker 2: I don't know that we're going to know or find
- 37:28Speaker 2: out the extent of that injury. But if he's banged
- 37:30Speaker 2: up and it's something that just takes time, boy, now's
- 37:33Speaker 2: a good week to heal him up and rest him up.
- 37:37Speaker 2: I think George McIntyre, if he plays anything like he
- 37:39Speaker 2: did on Saturday, good enough to go to Arkansas and
- 37:42Speaker 2: do enough to win. You just go survive that road trip,
- 37:45Speaker 2: win however you need to, whether it's by 35 points
- 37:47Speaker 2: or three points, you go on the road and win,
- 37:50Speaker 2: and then you set that matchup up against Alabama a
- 37:54Speaker 2: week later.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Got to stay focused on Arkansas and not look ahead, too.
- 37:59Speaker 2: That's for sure. Refs.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Refs gone wild. They're chirping a lot. Pissed off for greatness.
- 38:09Speaker 1: And they're getting caught on camera. The ref's gone wild,
- 38:15Speaker 1: now the girl's gone wild. That's straight ahead here on

- 38:48Speaker 1: tell you the t-shirt offer right now.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Date the rate, marry the house, throw it on a t-shirt,

- 39:21Speaker 2: This advertisement is not a promise to make alone. He's
- 39:23Speaker 2: a speed talker. Chad Withrow. Refs are talkers, believe it
- 39:26Speaker 2: or not.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I was a sideline reporter for a handful of seasons
- 39:28Speaker 1: with Titans Radio. I was stunned with how much the
- 39:29Speaker 1: refs talk just as much as the players or the
- 39:31Speaker 1: coaches talk. with the whistle in the mouth, they can
- 39:47Speaker 1: still fire off some F-bombs if they want to. And
- 39:49Speaker 1: they're not afraid to do that, especially the side judges.
- 39:54Speaker 1: It's not the white hat, but everyone else. Chad, are
- 39:58Speaker 1: you surprised that all of a sudden we've got three
- 40:01Speaker 1: different refs, ref issues around the league that everyone's dealing with?
- 40:07Speaker 1: Of course, no surprise to me that Vrabel's willing to
- 40:09Speaker 1: talk about it. He would, of course, be a part
- 40:13Speaker 1: of it. but one in particular that is of note.
- 40:20Speaker 1: The other ones I'm not surprised by, quite frankly. First off,
- 40:25Speaker 1: I was a little bit surprised. I'm just saying they
- 40:28Speaker 1: talk a lot of trash. If the coach is going
- 40:31Speaker 1: at them, they will turn around and say F you.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I've heard that a lot. I would say it's no
- 40:37Speaker 1: different than any sport.
- 40:39Speaker 2: That surprises me, honestly. What I saw from McBride, the
- 40:44Speaker 2: Arizona Cardinals player, and the guy where he's asking a question,
- 40:49Speaker 2: and he's kind of doing this, and he's not cussing
- 40:50Speaker 2: at the guy or anything. He's turning back and saying,
- 40:53Speaker 2: F you, F you, over and over to him. He
- 40:56Speaker 2: got suspended two games. We have the tweet in the
- 40:58Speaker 2: post from Mike about the two-game suspensions for both these refs.
- 41:02Speaker 1: This is the story we're referencing. So he's actually suspended.
- 41:06Speaker 1: He's not going to be aside the Titans.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Game this weekend. Yeah. Yeah. So congrats on an open weekend. Enjoy. Yeah.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Jeff Seaman, Adrian Hill, two guys. Jeff Seaman's guys yelling F-U.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Back at McBride. Right. Right. Adrian Hill. I thought was
- 41:21Speaker 2: completely unprofessional. And he's the white hat. Yeah. I mean,
- 41:24Speaker 2: I don't know what he's doing. Like he thought the guy,
- 41:27Speaker 2: he got stumbled into him. He's trying to hold him
- 41:30Speaker 2: up and help him up. And he's like swatting at
- 41:33Speaker 2: him and yelling at him and telling him to go
- 41:35Speaker 2: back to the huddle. And it was clearly an accident
- 41:37Speaker 2: on his part. I thought that was a weird overreaction.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I am surprised to hear Hutton that you said on
- 41:42Speaker 2: the sideline, I've seen a lot in the NHL where
- 41:45Speaker 2: it's just like every other word, regardless from every coach player,
- 41:50Speaker 2: and ref, but they're just constantly talking trash to each
- 41:53Speaker 2: other the whole time. Or you have a manager and
- 41:55Speaker 2: an umpire, and that's just commonplace. Yeah, I was a
- 41:57Speaker 2: little surprised to see the faraway shouts when a guy's
- 42:01Speaker 2: asking a question the way it was with Jeff Seaman,
- 42:05Speaker 2: who got the two-game suspension. Being able to see it
- 42:07Speaker 2: like that, that's fair. We normally don't.
- 42:11Speaker 1: But all the parabolic microphones and stuff pick up all
- 42:13Speaker 1: that stuff, and the networks just choose not to go
- 42:17Speaker 1: with them.
- 42:17Speaker 2: They don't want the F-bombs, of course.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, coaches will still be on top of
- 42:24Speaker 1: a ref about a previous call, and they'll still be chirping.
- 42:28Speaker 1: They'll turn back. You can see their head move back.
- 42:30Speaker 1: They're just chirping. They're talking trash, too. They're not saying, no,
- 42:33Speaker 1: you missed the call. They're saying, pipe down, you MF-er.
- 42:39Speaker 1: It's no different than if a player talks to them
- 42:41Speaker 1: or a coach talks to them. I know it's surprising
- 42:45Speaker 1: because we don't see it, but it's normally not as
- 42:49Speaker 1: unprofessional as it's been. And then you've got, you know,
- 42:53Speaker 1: the NFL player association director saying like, this is uncalled for.
- 42:58Speaker 2: And I'm like, they, they do this all the time.
- 43:01Speaker 2: When he played, they were doing this. I don't know.
- 43:04Speaker 1: He's taking advantage of the, of the moment, but like,
- 43:08Speaker 1: I mean, they're being replaced by a worse ref this week.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Well, so much of the response is what is the
- 43:14Speaker 2: narrative being discussed? And is it a national story? And
- 43:18Speaker 2: on Sunday, ref behavior, refs gone wild, became the national
- 43:22Speaker 2: story between Wilson and Seaman and their reactions to different things.
- 43:27Speaker 2: And then you had the Brable one. That were all
- 43:30Speaker 2: just over the top, I thought, watching it. And again,
- 43:34Speaker 2: you're down the sideline, and you did this for years,
- 43:36Speaker 2: so you've seen a lot more of that interaction than
- 43:38Speaker 2: anyone else. But yeah, if a coach is going to
- 43:43Speaker 2: come at you screaming, cursing, In your ear, and you
- 43:46Speaker 2: look back right at the coach and say, STFU or GTFO.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Or it's a quarter later. They're still referencing it. Or GTFO.
- 43:54Speaker 2: That's different than what I saw from the guy yelling
- 43:58Speaker 2: back at McBride. McBride's in the rally. What? Why is
- 44:03Speaker 2: he doing that? I'm thinking, did McBride do something earlier
- 44:06Speaker 2: in the game? I don't know.
- 44:09Speaker 1: You don't just randomly do that, right? Like that's, that's
- 44:13Speaker 1: kind of, the dude's crazy if he did it randomly.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Well, and these guys, the refs are typically look like,
- 44:19Speaker 2: like judges, you know, out on the field. They're so
- 44:23Speaker 2: composed and calm and they're just kind of like, Hey,
- 44:26Speaker 2: I got it. You know, there's someone's yelling at him
- 44:27Speaker 2: about it was offside. It's not false starting. I got it.
- 44:30Speaker 2: And they turn their mic on and they do the
- 44:31Speaker 2: call and it's their delivery is pitch perfect. And they're
- 44:35Speaker 2: always very calm. So, It was different to see these
- 44:38Speaker 2: two guys react in the way they did and completely
- 44:40Speaker 2: lose control for a moment. And I think that the
- 44:43Speaker 2: suspensions are probably warranted.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I guess I should phrase it like this. The refs
- 44:48Speaker 1: are more PG-13. The players and coaches are hard R,
- 44:52Speaker 1: rated R, when it comes to it. But it's not
- 44:55Speaker 1: unusual to hear it.
- 44:58Speaker 2: But it's not.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Just a cuss fest down there. All the players love
- 45:04Speaker 1: each other now. They're trading uniforms now. How many customers
- 45:08Speaker 1: were in Digger with Tom Cruise?
- 45:11Speaker 2: Real quick, Hutton. Yeah, go ahead. Reacting to the audience here.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Tennessee615 says, Ward fans are mad at Chad. That has
- 45:18Speaker 2: a nice ring to it. No, I just want to
- 45:20Speaker 2: see Chad call Cam Ward a punk to his face.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Can you guys make that happen? The amount of people
- 45:26Speaker 2: that are just wishing physical harm on me, I said
- 45:29Speaker 2: he looked like an entitled punk in what he did. Now,
- 45:34Speaker 2: if I said that to his face, yes, he's a
- 45:37Speaker 2: 24-year-old professional athlete. He could probably kick my 44-year-old ass. Also,
- 45:43Speaker 2: I don't know if I need to stand up or
- 45:45Speaker 2: show people. I'm 6'3, 230 pounds. I'm not most reporters. Okay?
- 45:52Speaker 2: Hutton can vouch. I'm looking at the tail of the
- 45:54Speaker 2: tape right now. Cam Ward is 6'2, 219. Would he
- 45:58Speaker 2: kick my ass? Of course. He's in way better shape.
- 46:01Speaker 2: He's way faster. He's stronger. He's a pro athlete and
- 46:05Speaker 2: a quarterback. Do I want to see him kick my ass? No.
- 46:09Speaker 2: But this idea that like, let's see this little guy
- 46:13Speaker 2: just get whipped by Cam Ward and say it to
- 46:16Speaker 2: his face. I would be slightly looking down at him
- 46:19Speaker 2: if I said it to his face is my only
- 46:21Speaker 2: point on this.
- 46:21Speaker 1: So let's get that part right. How dare you criticize
- 46:24Speaker 1: his height? How dare you?
- 46:26Speaker 2: And I would also say this. He's my height, essentially.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I know, I know, but you're looking down on him.
- 46:30Speaker 2: We're looking eye to eye. I think people have this
- 46:32Speaker 2: in their mind, like, I'm going to be, like, jumping
- 46:34Speaker 2: up at him, like, leaping to get to his face. Like,
- 46:37Speaker 2: you entitled punk. Come on. Come on. Hit me, man.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Hit me. You're Bryce Young. Hit me, buddy. Hit me.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Come on. Put your dudes up. I would also say this. Like,
- 46:43Speaker 2: you wouldn't say it to his face. Neither would the
- 46:46Speaker 2: people tweeting you.
- 46:47Speaker 1: No.
- 46:47Speaker 2: They wouldn't say it to your face either. No, of
- 46:50Speaker 2: course not. It'll be 100% they'll come up to me
- 46:52Speaker 2: and say they love the show. Yeah, which we appreciate.
- 46:56Speaker 2: But also, stop wishing physical violence on people. You want
- 47:00Speaker 2: to get upset about the word punk being used and
- 47:02Speaker 2: call people racist and be that sensitive about everything, yet
- 47:05Speaker 2: you're going to be the same person who's like, I
- 47:07Speaker 2: hope you get killed. I hope that this person puts
- 47:11Speaker 2: you in the hospital. I hope this happens. Which is it, man?
- 47:14Speaker 2: Are you so soft that the word punk offends you
- 47:17Speaker 2: because you think there's racial overtones to it when there's not?
- 47:20Speaker 2: That's amazing. A white person, an Indian person, a black person,
- 47:25Speaker 2: a German, a Polish person, a Chinese person. Anybody can
- 47:30Speaker 2: be a punk. That is not a racially appropriated term
- 47:34Speaker 2: that's taken from something. I can be a punk. Hell,
- 47:36Speaker 2: I've been a punk many times in my life. You
- 47:39Speaker 2: can be a punk. CM Punk is white. He's a punk.
- 47:43Speaker 2: You can be a punk. Anybody can. It's not a
- 47:46Speaker 2: racial term. If you're going to be that soft and
- 47:48Speaker 2: respond to things that way, while also wishing physical violence
- 47:52Speaker 2: on someone, let me tell you something. You are a punk.
- 47:56Speaker 1: And DMAP on top of that. Chad, you and I
- 48:00Speaker 1: made it to IMAX. We have seen the new Tom
- 48:03Speaker 1: Cruise movie.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Tom Cruise would have to jump to say something to
- 48:07Speaker 2: my face. He would. He would have to leap up
- 48:10Speaker 2: and yell it into my eyes to tell me something.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Would Wanda Robinson look down on him or vice versa?
- 48:16Speaker 2: I'm not sure. Based on height. Close.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Yeah, we can do tell and take there. Digger is
- 48:24Speaker 1: the new film from Tom Cruise. We will give you
- 48:28Speaker 1: our assessment of it, whether or not you should go
- 48:29Speaker 1: see it in the theater, and what we expect from
- 48:33Speaker 1: this performance of Cruise and everyone in the film. We
- 48:37Speaker 1: had a great time, nonetheless, in IMAX.
- 48:39Speaker 2: We enjoyed it. Chad, when was the last time you
- 48:41Speaker 2: and I went to the movie? Was it Top Gun
- 48:43Speaker 2: or no? I can't remember. Um... I went to the theater.
- 48:47Speaker 2: I can't remember if you and I were together. No,
- 48:49Speaker 2: we saw one battle after another. That's it. That's it. Together, yeah. Yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 1: But every now and then we make it in with
- 48:55Speaker 1: the popcorn and the drink. In regards to this film,
- 49:00Speaker 1: this is what I remember. We review that next here
- 49:03Speaker 1: on Hutton and Withrow.
