Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the MSQB NFL podcast on Conor and that's Albert Brear and we are buried underneath the, what do you want to call it?
- 0:13[SPEAKER_03]: A trade, avalanche, a trade snowstorm, a trade.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_03]: Well, everything was normal except the jets I would say, right?
- 0:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that applies to almost every thing.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I see like it felt like it felt like this like explosion, but the reality is like if you take the jet's moves out of it, it was pretty normal, right?
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_03]: So let's do that really quickly.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_03]: I want to run down what we what we saw on November 4th okay and then but I'm going to leave the jet stuff out of it and then we're going to get to that in a second okay we kicked it off with Logan Wilson from the Bengals to the Dallas Cowboys for a seventh round pick.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_03]: We got the Raiders trading Jacobi Myers to the Jags for 4th and 6th round picks.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: We got the Saints trading Rashid Shahid to the Seahawks for 4th and 5th round picks.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_03]: Get the Browns trading Joe Trey on Shonka and a 7th round pick to the Bears in exchange for a 6th round pick.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_03]: We've the Saints trading Trevor Penning to the Chargers for a 2027 6th round pick.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: Gooding, uh, their roster, uh, Quentin Williams.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_03]: Stop, don't be one of those people that's like, All right, you go.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_03]: And then I'm gonna, I want, I'm curious to hear this.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: Go ahead.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, no, because when I was writing about it yesterday, I was like, okay, like, what's left there?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then I started to go down the list.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, when you're looking at like 20, 26 now, what does this look like?
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: And what are you building around when you start to now you got that capital where you got the two first and the two seconds next year and the three first and twenty seven and start rattling off the names.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: My dear Wilson.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, all of a shadow.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: Our mom member.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I breeze all might be gone.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: So he excluded him from the last 80 Mitchell now.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: Germaine Johnson will make Donald.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Germaine Sherwood.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's not nothing.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't mention what McDonald.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: I said, I guess it will McDonald.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_03]: You did.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like you've got two highly drafted defense events.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Two highly drafted tackles.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: A highly drafted receiver.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fire seal.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think like they're stripped.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: Fair.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: They've got some really serious holes to fill now, you know, but I don't think they're like in this crazy awful position like where I mean they're bad to begin with like I don't know how much worse they are today and they were yesterday, you know.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: Here's my thing.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: If you, by virtue of the NFL draft system, every team is going to have good players.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_03]: So you can perform the exercise that you just did.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you can do the same thing right now with Miami.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: And be like, oh, look at what the dolphins still have to build around.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: You don't think you could?
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Not that amount of young players.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, it's chop, Robinson, jail, and water, and what else?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think, all right, hold on.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: Let's, uh,
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, seriously, like I don't think it's the same.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: You don't think it's the same.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, make it if it's Patrick's older, like, I don't know.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: I look at my Amy's roster and I'm like,
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I guess you get include Devon HN in that, like, you know, I don't know if that's really a building block, do they have any building blocks in their offensive line the way that jets do?
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what Kenneth Grant turns into, right?
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we don't know on him.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's fair.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: I just, like, I don't know.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I look at that.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: I look at the two.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm, that's not the same.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: So my question is, if you're the jets,
- 4:01[SPEAKER_03]: And I could be wrong, but I felt that there was such a messaging shift from Aaron Glenn coming in and saying we're the freaking New York Jets.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're going to run it down your throat.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to play good defense.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_03]: And then, you know, nine weeks later, it's okay, maybe in 2028.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, things get in material.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I don't know, man.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so here's the reality of it.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have an answer at quarterback, right?
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: So that's number one.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's I think what you can do with the group that you've got on hand.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: They have valuable trade pieces.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think that's clear.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like they had a few trade pieces.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe the most valuable trade pieces still on their roster, right?
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's probably here at Wilson.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you're talking about like what you can get in return, right?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: I like I just I don't know what you're gonna accomplish by just standing pat.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think the reality of it is when they sign those deals with sauce and and Garrett over the summer, right?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: Clearly they
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: their view on their own roster has changed between then and now.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's a credit to them that they were still in year one.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: They hadn't had a single one of those players in pads yet when they did those deals, right?
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: So they didn't really know.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that this shows some flexibility with your plan where, okay, now we've got eight games under our belt
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then teams start calling and when teams start calling and initiate those conversations and you will you and I know like they weren't shopping when it will you know they weren't shopping so it's Gardner, but teams are naturally going to look at your situation.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: and make that call, you know, it's the whole thing like I had a good conversation with someone about this, you know, the other day where it was a GM, you know, a trading info and he was talking to someone about moving a player and I think he did wind up moving this player to this team, right?
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: But like he started negotiating and like the guy at the other end of the line who was
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a lesson for this general manager about shopping a player.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, sometimes you just have to let like the market come to you because the 10 or these conversations matter.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and that's something I think the new Jets regime has done a good job of, and I'm going to write more about this tomorrow.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's just staying on top of the value of their players.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know,
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, being flexible on these sorts of situations, and so, you know, I think, you know, you look at, like, there's a good chance that second round pick, they get this year from the jets is a high, or from the Cowboys is a high, second round pick, right, and then, and then in 2027, you get the first rounder and that, well, accounts I know you wrote about this yesterday is going to be a stronger draft than the 26 draft.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I think there's some strategic thing stuff here that's interesting, and I think this gives the jazz a chance to, you know, like, let's just say, for example, so they've paid gear at Wilson now.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say those two tackles really work out, right?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, let's say Fashano and Membo really work out.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: So now, in a couple of years, you're paying both of those guys, right?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say either well my daughter, Germaine Johnson works out now.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: You've got a big defensive end
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: So, and then maybe you bring in a quarterback, like what all this draft capital does, it gives you a chance to continue to replenish your roster with the young talent that'll be affordable or it gives you the capital to go get a quarterback.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: One way or the other, you're in a better team building position.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: I applaud the jets for at least being open to this sort of thing, you know, and we'll see where those cults picks are, you know, I got into that piece of this to this important it.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: I got, is the cults picking in April, is it the 19th pick or is it the 29th pick, you know?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: But that's going to be a factor in how, you know, we look back on all this too.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: So I want to go through this because I'm fired up.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that was, listen, it's one of those things where you can normally kind of clock in and clock out on trade deadline day.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_03]: And then this one was, honey, I got to go to the bunker and I'll see you at some point after dinner.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_03]: And and and sometimes those days are are the most fun days because you do you make more phone calls you learn a little bit more I think about what's going on and so I want to break this down as thoroughly as possible and I'll start here with the sauce gardener thing I I talk to a couple people who were
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: with him in that era of Jets coaches and everyone was like I would have done that deal too.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I love him.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's just the nature of it, right?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_03]: And so I don't want to come off as anti what the Jets are doing because even the people I think who loved him dearly would have done that deal because that just that the spectrum to first round picks is very is very real.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that part of it too is like not to cut you off, but like, and that part of it too is looking at the comp, which I know they wanted a micoparsons deal for him when they talked about that was that was the trade comp, it's what they got, you know what I mean, it's it's two first round picks in a useful player, you know, and so like that, that to me is like, okay, so
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Micah, for his fault, and he does have fault.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's not perfect, for sure.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: But Micah, like, affects games in a very real way.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Can you say the same thing about sauce?
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because if you can like that's the thing is like so that's the question you've got to ask is like it because he hasn't done it consistently over the last year and a half, but part of that can contribute to the situation around him right so how much are you going to ascribe what's happened over the last year and a half with him.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: to just being in a dumpster fire of a mess last year with a coach getting fired after five games, and now being at the ground level available.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: So here's, so here's the flip side of it, right?
- 10:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_03]: And this is what is harder for me to grapple with.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_03]: when Jets fans and there's two parts to this because a lot of celebration I think in New York and rightfully so I think you got peak value for both of these guys and think in both cases you took advantage of a certain desperation, you know and I'm not gonna say that the culture desperate the culture's just want to get better.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: They're they're loading up for the stretch run.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: I mean we're gonna different places.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're just in a different stage where they don't mean
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: But the two things that kind of bother me about this situation with the jets in terms of giving up these players.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: And again, I get why they did it.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_03]: The comp is unbelievable.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_03]: But to say that like, oh, look at all this awesome stuff.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_03]: This isn't some cloud stat that doesn't really mean anything.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: Sense sauce Gardner has come into the NFL.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_03]: And that's an average
- 11:37[SPEAKER_03]: He is arguably the best cornerback on an island in the league, period, allows a completion percentage when in single coverage of 38%.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_03]: That's hard to replicate in the draft, especially in the 2026 draft, which I heard is maybe 15 players deep at the time.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_03]: OK, and then Quinn and Williams.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_03]: is the best breaker of double teams in the NFL for an interior defensive lineman since 2022 period.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's really hard to find in the 2026 draft.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: It just is.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_03]: And they're both.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're both on reasonable contracts.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_03]: And so here's the other side of the question for me.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_03]: And I know this is abstract a little bit, but we see immediate turn arounds all the time in the NFL.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_03]: And I understand that
- 12:40[SPEAKER_03]: There are different circumstances and the jets are kind of hamstrung at the quarterback position perpetually, right?
- 12:46[SPEAKER_03]: But aren't the best success stories, the ones where coaches are finding a way to connect with and work with talent that's already on the roster?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_03]: And my, the back end of that question or the statement after the comma, whatever you wanna say here, is that if I'm Aaron Glenn,
- 13:09[SPEAKER_03]: who have been in my position, got to make it to the other side of the river of shit and be able to coach the players that have come from this font of draft capital.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, like that's the same situation that the jets are going through, drove huge acts into the brink of insanity and Cleveland.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_03]: And that guy never got to see it.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_03]: Never got to see it.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_03]: And you could say the same about
- 13:37[SPEAKER_03]: Brian Flores and he won double digit games and he was still fired, you know, I think that these the tanking is really only good for like one person in that organization.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the problem.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is, like, and I, this is a real thing for Aaron going to dare emoji, right, like, which is the path that they've chosen here requires patience.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: And your boss in New York is your boss is demonstrated that he does not have patience.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, I mean, you miss on one of those draft picks.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like the panic button will get worn out, you know, by people around the that are around your organization and having to deal with that is a very real thing because your owner has shown a his as a history of reacting to those sorts of things.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: It puts a lot of pressure on the jets to hit on their picks now.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: Again, that's not an easy thing to do.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: I would say these things aren't an eye for an eye.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so, I think a lot of succeeding in the draft is about giving yourself a lot of swings.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: I've come around on this.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think it's a shock giving you tough autonomous swings.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's a whole new thousand.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so sometimes you can trade for a pick.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: and swing and miss in that pick, but because you had the extra pick, you took a chance for the another pick and that really worked out.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas if you didn't have the extra pick, maybe you wouldn't have taken that chance.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: There are things like that that like, I think when you're trying to build a program, it really helps to have the extra capital.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: And again, then there's the chance that there's an opportunity that comes along with a veteran quarterback, which you can't
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder, and it's like, it's an age old meme at this point, but it's the, it's the episode of Family Guy where Peter goes into, they say you can win a free boat and he goes to the place and the guy goes, I'll give you a boat or I'll give you a mystery box and he goes, oh, a mystery box, there could be a boat in there and he picks the mystery box instead of taking the boat for the jets.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, in 2022, Joe Douglas drafted sauce gardener, Garrett Wilson and Germaine Johnson, two of those three guys made the proble in the first round in three years later.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_03]: He was fired and this team is in a situation where they have to trade those players to get three more picks and another draft.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_03]: And so to me, it's like, am I crazy here?
- 16:09[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, here's the flip side though.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: The flip side is John Schneider and Seattle and that team we watch on Sunday night, which is the Russell Wilson train completely fueled their reverse.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, it was again having all of those swings and you wind up with Charles cross and you wind up with Jackson Smith and Jacob and you wind up with Kenneth Walker and it's just.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: To me, I, I, I, I look at what Seattle did and it's a very real example of
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like, using the capital to maybe not every guy you got as a star, but you've built like a balanced foundation, built a balanced roster now with a sending young town all over the place.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: And now a few years later, they're in a position because of that, where they can flip two
- 17:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, do you see a difference between a quarterback who'd clearly worn out as welcome versus Gardener and Williams in this position?
- 17:23[SPEAKER_03]: And again, I know Williams wanted out.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: No, I know what you're saying.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_03]: No, I know just saying it's like that.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not the same thing.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: But if...
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: If you feel like you're like, like, I look at this, like in terms of rebuilds, it's like how many off seasons are you away, you know what I mean, and so if you're the jets and you are now in the middle of this one in seven season right and you're coming off of your first win and you're trying to be honest with yourself, but where you are, are you going to be able to fix it on one off season right because if you aren't.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: Then, like, Quinn and Williams is going to be going into a contract here in 27.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: And everybody the way, he might be looking for a new contract after this year.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's going to go up $1 million here in 1026, right?
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's saws things a different one, but like, if, if you look at it, you say, this is a multi-season, this is a multi-off season rebuild still.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Well, then, you know, setting yourself up to succeed in those off seasons, I think
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: There's real value in that.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: And again, it doesn't mean you're going to hit on every pit.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's impossible.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: But the more swings you give yourself at, the better chance you have to do what Seattle did.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so I don't know.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is like,
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: To me, it's like all about the position that you're in and the position of teams in, and the jets are in a vastly different position from the course, which is why I think this trade-made sense for both teams.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: I ultimately, yeah, I mean, I think that I love it for both teams and I hate it for both teams, and I want to get to the cults in a second.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'll just kind of
- 19:02[SPEAKER_03]: put a bow on it here with Glenn and the jets and to me it's just I'm still having trouble digesting the kind of contradictory thoughts here right that Aaron Glenn kind of got this job based off of performances with that lion's defense where it's like I'll take anybody right and I'll win with anybody and I'll do it with anybody and then you go to the jets and you have
- 19:30[SPEAKER_03]: way more than anybody.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I mean, you, you talked about that, right?
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so, in the past three years and around, yes.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_03]: And now, the, the Jets defense did start to get better.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_03]: Let's give him credit for that over the last few weeks.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think that they've had some better games and at least some better moments, right?
- 19:47[SPEAKER_03]: But again, I just wonder if, if, if,
- 19:50[SPEAKER_03]: if this is the way because I'm just so weary of and I've been doing this for long enough Albert and you've been doing it for about 25 years longer than I have that the uh and it was mostly waves of bellachick guys right where you've seen it come in where it's like I want my guys right
- 20:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like you look at someone like Jim Harbaugh who's like, I don't give a shit.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Just give me some, give me a warm body and I'm going to coach him up and I feel like like that Jim Harbaugh thing where everybody was like, oh, he's going to go get a change in my car food.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, no, I love Justin Harbaugh.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean, Justin Harbaugh three is going to took a job.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: So this, so this quote, I think,
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if I, I may have used this quote, the I tweeted it last week.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: It was an urban Meyer quote, so I'm sure you're going to love it.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what he said.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought this was so interesting.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: He said this thing in 2017, right?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: He says, everybody wanted me to say Jim Tressel left the covered bear.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: If I heard any assistant coach say that they'd be gone, you're done.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your players.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: I heard TV guys say, wait until they get their own players in there.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Is there are players?
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean their players?
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: The many you sign a contract, your players?
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't choose me.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: I chose you.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: Your mind.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I think like that is, yeah.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think like saying something like he went to open, oh, it's first year to Ohio State.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: He wanted National Championship at Florida with Ron Zuck's players, you know?
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think there's now a lot of that, which is like that's part of the job is to get the most out of the guys that you inherit.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they did show willingness to work with those guys otherwise they wouldn't have signed Garrett Wilson and saw us to contracts, right?
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, there's a, to me, and again, I get it, it's like, but if you want to lay out the idea that you have a plan, you can forgive me for feeling like, like this thing hasn't gone exactly the way that you expected.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, like, right, and that's the thing, right, because in order to, in order to now take advantage of all this, I mean, this is an overwhelming amount of draft capital.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_03]: And we'll put a button on it like this.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_03]: I remember covering the jets and the GM search, the transition from Tannenbaum to John Edsick, who I think got railroaded in that job and is a good football man and a good football administrator.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: But that was about generating picks and cleaning up the cap.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_03]: And you had two first round picks in his first year.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: One of them was 10 million.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_03]: And then you got you had what 13 picks the second year.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: And that was that historically bad draft for like a number of those guys were the first.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: The what was it like the insect 13 they called it some of my dad.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: That's mean.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, that's a, but I'm just saying.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like, do you guys want to be there?
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: And the ownership element of it is very real because that's who decides whether you have a job or not.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: So like, I do, I do think that that's a point while taking that this is an owner who generally has not shown any patients at all, right?
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: And so like this sort of strategy does require patients and whether or not
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: the whether or not they're emoji and Aaron go ahead and get that patience from him for me to be seeing.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: You go from selling grit to now selling hopeiam, which is a it's just a different drug and we'll see if they have any more success on on that front.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_03]: There's a couple teams that did deals with the jets that I think warrant a mention it's
- 23:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, God, the jets are so good.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_03]: Jerry Jones is so jealous because he wants to, he wants to command the space like the jets do.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: And he tries, but what he Johnson just on accident has a stranglehold on our attention and has perpetually for like the last five years.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_03]: Jerry Jones should be taking notes.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, you must like the cloud voice, then.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: But you must love it as for the cloud voice, then.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: me.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's just talked of Clinton.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: So let's say this too.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about this.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think of player like Quinn and Williams is more rare and maybe maybe a more valuable commodity than like a TJ watt because they're harder to find like the dominant interior tackle.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: There are far fewer of
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: than there are the great defense events, right?
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: So like an air and Donald was so unique and I'm not saying he's air and Donald, but how many players are there that like fit that description?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: The fit that's suit in the NFL, right?
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I mean, it's quinnin' Williams, it's to for us Buckner, I mean, how many of them are there?
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: like the dominant defense of tackle, like Don and Jerry defensive, who is going to, was the ability to disrupt everything and remember, it's tougher for a quarterback to escape from a guy coming right into his lap than it is a guy running around the edge, right?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, generally, right.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: How many of them are there?
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: Not a lot, I mean, if you think about the position as a whole,
- 25:27[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Kim Hayward, Derek Brown, Jeffrey Simmons, extra Lawrence, in previous years.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Robert Williams, Jalen Carter, Jalen Carter,
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there are a lot of them, though, Manabooka and Baltimore.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: There are very many.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_03]: So we could come up with six that are, and Cam Hayward is, I should even take out of that.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: Just give us not many more, but it's the, I do think there's that element of it too, where Dallas is, so,
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: They got a year and a half older, like if we're if we're saying this is like a mosaic Parsons and and and and and Quinn and right so we got a year and a half older they got something like 20 million dollars per year cheaper right yep they moved effectively a pick from the
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: They move to pick effectively from the second round of the first round this year, right, and then they've got the wash next year.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: And they trade Mozi Smith for Kenny far.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: Is that not a win?
- 26:45[SPEAKER_03]: Here's my thought on it because you're right.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_03]: I can't talk out of.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'm going to be a massive gap between Parsons and point in.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I get it.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 26:56[SPEAKER_03]: Is there though?
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I go back to and I realize that this is not a world that I can live in.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_03]: But how much different are we talking about Jerry Jones, the owner, if you had just signed Mike a Parsons and then traded for Quinn and Williams.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_03]: I know like I'm like a kid at a candy store.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: Why can't I have skittles and a snickers?
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: Like I understand that, right?
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: But because I think at that point now, you're paying also do you do you do you do you do you do you do you do you do you do you do you do you do you do you you're paying point in and you're paying Mike.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a lot to have invest in that one position group.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: I even think like I'm looking at it now.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like there is like that element of like okay, you've got to also Kenny and and and put in in like,
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: How's that I'm going to work in order to mean like is that something that's going to be there in 2026 and beyond I don't know you know but I don't know like I look at the cowboys coming out of this and if they can do something with that money that they're saving here and they can hold put it off on an extension for another year.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: My god, I think this hasn't changed so it's pretty good for them.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: And the whole reason that I complained about the micro-parson straight is that Jerry Jones was saying I want to win now.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_03]: I want to capitalize on what's left of Dak Prescott's prime and I'm like, well, the prime is now.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: So this is a now move, okay?
- 28:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's just it's coming in a space where
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: the team just doesn't seem ready like the back end of the second area is disastrous and maybe you're hoping with a little bit more of an interior past rush and I will say this.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that move comes at a time where Donovan Azaraku was playing really well and he is kind of starting his
- 28:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's, what's the line where I think it's like dumb and dumb or like based on all the dumb decisions that you've already made, this makes sense.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm butchering a line.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_03]: I forget what it is.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_03]: But like you've made so many dumb decisions.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: So it was like, just when I thought you were the dumbest,
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: Mostly yeah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 29:31[SPEAKER_03]: a series of mistakes and miscalculations that led to him losing micoparsons in the first place, and that was can be seen as near universally raw.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_01]: Just when I thought, just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this, and totally redeem yourself.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it was like when he sold like the, he sold like their van for like a scooter or something like that.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_03]: Can't remember exactly what it was, but I think that we can live in a space where we're like, okay, the Micah thing was messed up.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_03]: You made a lot of bad decisions getting into that point.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_03]: You mismanaged a lot of extensions before that.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: you push this to a boiling point where the second best edge defender in the NFL simply did not want to play for you anymore.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_03]: And you had to trade him at a time where, again, if you would have traded Mike at the deadline, we might have been talking about an extra premium pick thrown in there.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, right?
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: If you would have traded Mike before the draft, we would have been talking about an extra premium pick thrown in there.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_03]: But we can say that that's wrong.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_03]: that may be Jerry Jones and the Cowboys at least made an effort to rectify that mistake and that at least starting next year.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_03]: And this is going to be painful for me to do, but I would project them as a playoff team if they can fix the secondary in the off season.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: And they have two first round picks to do it.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see where that pack is pick is, but their first round pick could be high.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm interested to see what this looks like this George Pickens come back.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: They're they're offensive line now is suddenly very young, you know, like so they've got Cooper BB at center.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: They got Tyler, a guy in a tackle, Tyler Smith has locked up long term at guard.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they sell holes, like I still, you said, like the secondaries who won, running back as another.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: But this is, I mean, that's one thing you can trust with them.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I would say like this is something that for all of the crap and rightfully so that Jerry gets for being the GM, I think we've talked about this before.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: What was the last time talent was an issue there?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: Generally, it's not a, yeah, yeah, it's a talent and roster, right?
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: You can already, but the way it's put together and all the rest of it, but I, like, I go back to like, when I was on the beat there in O7 and O8, and they were enormously talent.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember, now before that, before Parselle's got there, like, there was that issue, like the gap between Parpe, but between the,
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: the the 90s teams and parcells like there was a gap there where they weren't very town.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: But since like parcells built that up, you know, with guys like Whitton and Whare and Enromo of course and, you know, Marion Barber and Roy Williams and Terrence Newman like ever since then, talent has never been an issue there.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I look at like your question
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then if two first round picks like I don't have a ton of doubt that they're going to make that work again, they're not perfect because no one's perfect.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: I did draft taco Charlton over TJ what there's no excusing that right like they missed on Mazi Smith in the first round.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: But it also looks like now like they've hit on Donovan Ezraq, who Sam Williams can play on the edge.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like there are offensive lines again as young and I think we'll get better over the course of time.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: The George Pickens thing looks like a decent gamble that's paying off now.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now it gets tricky after the year because you have to resign him.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, I think you do have a situation now where it's like,
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: All right, like, you know, like, if you can hit on the pecs, like this has a chance to look pretty good in the year.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a year, right?
- 33:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that I prefer, I prefer Jerry Jones having, or I prefer the Cowboys having Quinn and Williams than taking a shot on whatever's there in the 2020.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: I was extremely happy.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, between Mike and Quinn and this.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they're just different players.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 33:55[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean,
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: in the NFL, right?
- 34:14[SPEAKER_03]: And Ed's Russia, you would put above everything except maybe corner and corner and Ed's you're probably like one in one A, right?
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: And then I would say that Quinnin is one of the five best.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: interior defensive linemen so right if you were to kind of put them on a on a curve you have like you know it's like my capacitance is like okay I have the best lead singer in the history of rock and roll and then if I have quit and Williams it's like I have like the third best guitar player in the history of rock and roll so it's like all those things are very important I just think that they serve different functions like one can change things in a broader sense than the other that's what
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like again, like I just think I think defensive tackle to me, like I think it's a, I think it's underrated.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think it's an underrated position like I think if you've got a really good one, that player can be as important as a great past restaurant or a draw certain fact, I think it can be like I think in some cases that we more valuable just because I think it's harder to deal with a player like that, you know,
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: everyone's offense.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's a crude way to put it.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: But like, like dealing with their and don't like, and I'm not saying Quentin's that, but I don't know.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't think the gap between those two is enormous.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: And like,
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: The more I kind of started a piece this thing together, I'm like, you know what kind of makes sense, and then you have Matt, Eva Fluss who's great at success was, you know, as a defense of coordinator in Indianapolis, who was the star player there.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was one of these guys.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was to work out there, you know, so and he made it work with young guys on the edge there.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: So sort of mirrors what Eva Fluss had had there in Indianapolis.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's interesting.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_03]: And we don't have to have answers today, right?
- 36:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's the important thing.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, you know, and whatever, all right, winners and losers, which I did, and you can read at SI.com.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_03]: And Albert can have takeaways, which you did, and you can read them at SI.com.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_03]: But it's not,
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: it's not definitive.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_03]: This is an evolving thing.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's now what you do with it.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: The jets are a winner in theory from a lot of people, from a lot of people standpoint yesterday, but could end up being.

- 38:08[SPEAKER_03]: I want to get to the cold side of this and then I want to talk a little bit about what's left of the remnants of this.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_03]: I thought this was a good trade for the cults.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_03]: And one executive that I talked to made me think about this in a different way.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, you know, two first round picks seems like a lot.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_03]: And that person said, look at what the Jaguar's gave up to move up for Travis Hunter who you would believe would have a similar effect on their defense.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_03]: And sauce gardener is
- 38:37[SPEAKER_03]: 1.75 years older than Travis Hunter, and probably adds the same amount of mileage on him.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I didn't really think about that in the moment, but you're like, oh, yeah, I mean, that's the price right now for a cornerback with that level of skill.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_03]: And so I don't know, I love it.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I went up and down the list.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_03]: And if you view sauce as that island corner, okay?
- 39:02[SPEAKER_03]: Coming up, the cults have Drake London, Rashi Rice and Jackson Smith and Jigba remaining on their schedule.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_03]: It gets immeasurably harder and they do have to evolve as a defense and Soss Gardner allows them to do that.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there's any question about it.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: So this is like kind of like popping in my head overnight, right?
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: So sauce is what the fourth pick of the drafts is that right?
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: So on the draft value chart, do you know what the value of the fourth pick is?
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: Are the fourth pick is?
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: Are we talking about the Jimmy Johnson one?
- 39:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, give it to me off top, I don't know.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: Two, 18th overall picks.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_03]: Two, 18th overall picks.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: So if you view sauce is still good enough to be the fourth pick in the draft, right?
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: Then you're basically saying, okay, like so if we have to have the fourth pick to get that sort of player and take the money out of it, you can't take the money out of it, but take the money out of it.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: You're looking at like a, and we'll get to the money a second,
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: we're not going to be able to get a player of this caliber where we're picking.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: So if it's the 18th pick this year, the 18th pick next year, that's what it will cost to move up to for anyway, right?
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: So like if you're figuring our picks are going to be in the 20s because we're going to be in the playoffs this year, next year, then that winds up working out for you, right?
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: The other part of it's the contract part of it, which I think is really fascinating because no, they don't have
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: They do have him on a contract that was done with two years of the rookie deal folded in, right, which brings the average down and the bonus money's gone.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: And so now they get him at and I'll pull it up.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: I tweeted it out yesterday, but they get him now and the money on it is so sauce is money.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: is I'm really prepared for this, okay?
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: So he's having a week minimum for the rest of the year.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: 25, 5 next year, 24, 9, 5 and 27, 20, 20, 22 million and 28.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: So you're talking about like, that's probably going to be a number two corner contract over the life of it.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's the guaranteed money after that you have team options for 29 and 30.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: through this year and then the five years after that.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_03]: In addition to that, like I think it would be an awful thing if it happened, but I don't think the dead money at any point in that contract is overly restrictive and let's just say he flops, right?
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's just terrible.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_03]: You can caught him after like two years and I don't think he, I think he can move away when he's got free up.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: Because they're guaranteed, so it runs for 28.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: They run through 28.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: I believe.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so like you are you are dealing with I have to look that up again, but I think that I think there are guarantees through 28, but the debt money is not a factor because the bonus is gone.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: So like you're not worried about the debt money, the debt money is a chance.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: So like I think from that perspective it's good here's the other thing is like I do think like
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: They've effectively now turned what was a probably the biggest weakness right and there's the one thing the cultural looking around for over the course the last couple of weeks you're going to charge various ward back in a couple of weeks and.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: So now you've turned what was a weakness into a strength with two guys that can match up with anybody with two guys that have the versatility play his own in the end with two guys that I think go unlawfully in a row most defensive and allow you to do more with your front.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: So you'll be able to do different things to generate pressure that you weren't able to do before.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: And if you think your offense is good enough to generate leads, God, that defense could start to create some chaos.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so I just, I don't know, for the calls for where they're at, and this is like again, two teams in very different positions, but like the calls now, like they're a core, like they're all in on this core now, right?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they drafted Bernard Raymond.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: They have Brandon Smith and Quentin Nelson who kind of holdovers from the last core that they had Tyler Warren, Michael Pippman, Alec Pierce, Josh Downs,
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: way out to a lot to Buckner again's like in that Nelson Smith category, a little bit older, but still a really effective player, I'm Zayir Franklin's a holdover still a really effective player.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: They've got camp by them.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: They like this is to me is like them pushing the chips to the middle of the table on the score and in particular on the quarterback.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I think, I think in a weird way how Daniel Jones plays and what sort of answer Daniel
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: will really inform us on the assault trade because you take out the chance to draft a quarterback over the next couple of years.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's the thing, right?
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that's gone now, right?
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, is like your ability to draft 1 in 26 and 27 is gone?
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to be right about Daniel.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: Joe's a way that giants weren't when they signed him to do a contract a couple of years ago.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing, right?
- 44:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's like you,
- 44:27[SPEAKER_03]: Daniel Jones is going to end up being Kirk Cousins 2.0.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he has just smashed the market at the absolute right times twice in a row now.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there was the 2022 run, then you get into the playoffs and it's still funny.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was Tom Rock.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: What do you do?
- 44:44[SPEAKER_03]: Do you sign him up here the calls?
- 44:47[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 44:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not being flippant here, but what choice do you have?
- 44:51[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I went up and down the list.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, so this is what I can write your tag at him.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Tag at him.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: So let me like look what the tag is for 2026.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then you're working off of that tag.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: So like that could eliminate the
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: for next year, projects to $46 million.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's his leverage point.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: So you're talking about now, and all likely they're paying the annual Jones $50 million per year.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: Not the top of the market, right?
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's not 60, but I think that's sort of where you are now.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because he's the other options.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I got to do to create a fallback on after all this.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_03]: Let's look at it.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_03]: Could the Raiders separate from Geno Smith and could Geno Smith be on the market if they decide that this is a mercenary quarterback situation possibly the chiefs aren't letting go of a quarterback.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_03]: The chargers aren't the Broncos aren't the titans aren't the cartons.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_03]: The cardinals.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's that's your one.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if, you know, Joe Flacco could come back up.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a piece of hear your names like to me.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: To a younger below, Justin Fields, potentially, I don't know, like, there's some moving parts there as well.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Flacco,
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, going through the teams and looking at the teams now, like you said, you know, Smith.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Kyle and Murray.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm just saying Matt Jones.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_03]: Let's, I mean, that's your foil.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_03]: If you're Daniel Jones, like that's your anti-leverage, is it's actually what's going on?
- 47:07[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, like Sam Darnl, they could have let go of him after a year if it didn't work out.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_03]: But, I mean, Sam might ask for a raise after this.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_03]: And that's, you know, the cults have to be, and I'm sure they are prepared for, I mean, Daniel Jones's salary is going to quadruple.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_03]: That's it, see you.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: So if you were doing the sauce deal and you were Chris Ballard, would you have like hustled the Daniel Jones to try to deal with him now?
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like you'd have the jets on one and just be like, okay, Daniel Jones, like whoa, they're being super aggressive now.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: What the hell's going on?
- 47:40[SPEAKER_03]: You walk into the building and they're just like kicking like rocks around the front door, waiting for you to get in.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, hey, can I talk to you for a second, actually?
- 47:50[SPEAKER_03]: It'll be like the, when I worked for a newspaper and was making, like, I'm not sure, like a legal amount of money at the time.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_03]: And then the first time that they offered me an actual salary, which I found out was also like way below, the average for that position, they wrote it down on a piece of paper and slid it across the desk and they're like, what do you think about that?
- 48:14[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, I'm like, you know, 23 or whatever.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, fuck yeah.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, where do I sign?
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: And like, you can imagine Daniel Jones being in the same situation where it's just like Chris Ballard's like, hey, you've been playing pretty well.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think about like, you making 14 million now?
- 48:30[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think about 24 million?
- 48:34[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's got like, he had, yeah.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_03]: If you sign it right now without calling your agent, we'll get a couple of that supplies.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the, you remember his leverage last time was that there was only one franchise tag.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_03]: And then you start say one.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: And it was sake, and they used it on say one.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: And in this case, the franchise tag actually is his leverage, because it's risen to the point.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: Or if it is, it just wind up landing at 46 million.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's their negotiating point.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: And generally what they say is that you take the, for you take two franchise tags.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: So it's 46 and then whatever 120% of it is, right?
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then you divide it by, you take the sum of two tags to divide it by two and that's the average.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: So in this case, if you do that math, right?
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: And that's civil math.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: So let's just say 46 times 1.2 equals 55 points.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, an average of just over $50 million a year.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: God bless America, at least in some, at least in some, uh, because I mean, like, like, two is making one, 55, right?
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that, yeah.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: So if you pick the annual Jones or two, right now, I don't think it's Jones.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know, it's interesting like the way that we look at all these things.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Dale Jones could be, like, what's Shane Steinken?
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be a viable long-term answer there.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I just love all these reformation projects.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: People being forced to retract, like, take some stuff, it's pretty great.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_03]: Can you, this is going to be a bad joke.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_03]: But can you imagine how good all of Moogie's five picks
- 50:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm kidding.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'm kidding.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: Because it was what he fired him two years from now.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't like this immediately.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_03]: Get out of here.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_03]: So I want to talk about that and before we get out of here too, because the draft part of it is real.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_03]: And it's it's funny because just a little peak behind the curtain.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_03]: Albert is I like Notre Dame and I watch Notre Dame.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_03]: period in a vacuum.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_03]: I guess you could say I'm like a casual army fan to and my son and I will watch army when they're on.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: But so we're not steeped in the college football conversation.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to someone yesterday about someone in the league about the 2026 and 2027 draft classes.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm writing furiously, right?
- 51:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like everything's got to be up now, right?
- 51:05[SPEAKER_03]: Mitch Goldich, our editor with the with the cudgel.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_03]: He's just like,
- 51:09[SPEAKER_03]: Come on, got, no, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna, Mitch is not like that.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_03]: He was great.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_03]: He gave me like, he gave me some extra time to work last night.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_03]: But the person that I was talking to said, you know, he said, obviously the 20, 27 class is good.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: You got better quarterbacks and you got those receivers that the kid from Ohio State and the kid from Alabama.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm, you know, you're on the phone here.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, totally.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: And then immediately when I got off the phone, I was like Albert, who the fuck are the kids from Ohio State and Alabama?
- 51:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't realize you had no Jeremiah Smith.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, as a Notre Dame centric fan, like I just don't have to.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's not in my world view right now.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's how the national championship game ended with this like Adrian Peterson, like level of receiver, like he is the receiver, which is a freshman, what Peterson was the running acquisition as a freshman?
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: scoring the game clenching or having the game clenching play against an international title game.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: You remember that we on my third night we threw like 70 yards in the game.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_03]: I remember that, but I effectively blocked the rest of it out of my memory.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I blacked out.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_01]: And number four is like the most freakish thing.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: I like so the Penn State coach said on Saturday, right?
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: So our quarterback had chewing and saying had four incompletions and four touchdown passes and three incompletions against Penn State, which I really fired their coach, but there's still a lot of talent.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: Jim Dulls, great defensive coordinator.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jim Dulls, great defensive coordinator.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_01]: And shout out Jim Dulls, and shout out to all the people who took shots at the hiring of Matt Patricia, had that work out for you.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, like the interim coach of Penn State said
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is no offense to anybody who's gone through here before.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: But these are the two best receivers in the country and the two best guys who've come through Ohio State and I've seen all of them.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: Is that Jackson Smith, I think Garrett Wilson, Terry McLuhan, Clarissa Lavay, the two guys they have right now are better than any.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: So, but the Jeremiah Smith is a freak show, Ryan Williams, same thing.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_01]: There are past wrestlers in that drafts.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: Colin Simmons at Texas, Dylan Stewart, South Carolina.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's the draft that's gonna be in the national mall, too.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: Which is kind of interesting.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you throwing arch in there.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think you threw arch in there, right?
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure that was good for SEO purposes.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_03]: If we can, well, this is 2027.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: Arch is actually the interesting thing is like now that everybody's stopped talking about him Arch is actually starting to come around and play better.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_03]: I know it's a poor kid I think you just needed to get through that like first quick moment.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, now Take a lot of like a lot of advertising money So it's not like he was running from either, but Him and Christian McCaffrey by the way represent like the weirdest clothing brands like it's not like Nike It's something that I've never heard of uh before like I wonder what like we're like
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: Allow or whatever, yeah, what is now?
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think allows of that.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: So I think allows like Lou Lament and that like it started is like, I don't know, I'm only probably out of better answer for me on this.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I should call her down here.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: But I think Alice started, it's like one of those like, like, woo, I'm in like, it's like a woman's like, you know, the brand, and then they expanded into have it.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, I'm not, nothing, I have no problem with that.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: I have a kind of little woman's stuff, Emily convinced me and there's the most, it is comfortable, Viori, same thing, right?
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, so like, these, these athletic brands that like start as like women's close, and then they try to expand to men's stuff and what's the best way to do that?
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's to throw some out here on a question with Catherine or an arts band, you know.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I got you would love this and I got crushed for not putting the Ohio State quarterback in that yesterday.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_03]: It was a quick, you know, it was a quick thing and then this idiot does know anything about college football, but just true.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, he didn't even put in the best quarterback out of all of them.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_01]: I would be here.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be such an interesting one to talk about whenever he comes out because he is so average looking physically, but the way the ball comes out, like you look at him and it's like, oh no way, you know what I mean?
- 55:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's like major apple.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but look, look at the best balls in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes Baker may field, you know, and you watch the ball comes out of his, it's a cold crap in order to dance, but they're not great body guys, you know?
- 55:57[SPEAKER_01]: Alex, your homework for today for me, Connor, is because I'm old enough to be your teacher.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_01]: is to just watch like a five minute highlight of the Penn State game and so the throws this kid makes or just I mean it's like bonkers like when you watch it's like hand it's like it's like three guys like closing in on him you can't step into the throw and it pops out of his hands and 60 yards down field it's in like the freak show receiver's hands.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's, um, don't be an inch she went to, but that one like Dylan Reo, uh, I think it's going to be interesting to, um, you mentioned another quarterback who was it was Reo, uh, Manning, and there was one other one you mentioned.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_03]: Simple CJ car from Notre Dame.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think a lot of people really like it.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, W. I think it's going to like check a lot of boxes.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of like to see is there, right?
- 56:47[SPEAKER_01]: Reo.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_01]: Don't really grill us on obviously arches arch, and then, and then, uh, CJ car is the lead car.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's big.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we're covering the lead long enough.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_03]: What's that?
- 57:00[SPEAKER_03]: Neppodraft.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_03]: Neppodraft.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_03]: But so I think that that's going to be to the reason why I bring all this up is I think the specter of that draft is going to hang over the one that we're about to have and I'm sure I think you're going to see teams trying to trade picks ahead, you know, right.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_03]: And so if you're the jets,
- 57:25[SPEAKER_03]: the placement of these picks does mean a lot because even you brought up the Jimmy Johnson trade chart.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_03]: But if the 18th pick in this draft is really like the 41st in next year's draft in terms of the level of talent that you're going to get.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see, right?
- 57:44[SPEAKER_01]: I forgot to mention your Notre Dame corner by the way, it was part of that group.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's in there too.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_03]: Leonard Moore, Leonard Moore, we're in the playoffs.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's all I care about the good day.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_03]: But it'll be interesting, Albert.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, again, I think that the good part about a podcast is that we can sit here and we can pick it apart from every angle.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_03]: And we can say that definitively that we don't know
- 58:09[SPEAKER_03]: shit.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_03]: We can tell you all we think we know, but at the end of the day, it's up to Musi to nail these draft picks.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's up to the cowboys to fix the secondary and to stabilize themselves and to pay pickings and to get on the horse for a playoff run next year.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's up to the cults to make it to the AFC championship game this year because that's where that's where you see yourself as a roster.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_03]: And if they don't,
- 58:34[SPEAKER_03]: that will come back on here and rip apart now.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just kidding.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_03]: But other than that, I mean, I don't have any other really fleeting thoughts on this.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_03]: I thought the Ravens did a really good job.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think the Eagles, obviously.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the Eagles are just a clinic at this point and they're not losing any picks and they're just calling the land here for talented guys.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, I think the Eagles did a great job.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_03]: I was surprised that the lions weren't in on Trevor Penning, like I had hoped they would be in the Chargers ended up snagging him.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think that there's still some upside there, but, you know, other than that, again, it was a typical trade deadline, right?
- 59:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's like baseball.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_03]: So a couple, a couple long relievers, trade and change enhance, you know what I mean?
- 59:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, yeah, I think that like you look at like the Jacoby Myers and the, and the Rashid Shaheeds and like, it all,
- 59:26[SPEAKER_01]: It'll just be interesting to see the way those trades play out, like in how quickly those guys can make an impact.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this sheet one's very, very interesting.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think that's the one that sticks out to me.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, probably going to have the biggest impact.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he's a perfect compliment for what they already have.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_01]: And Jackson Smith and Jacoba and Cooper Cup, right?
- 59:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he's a true burner.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to create space for them in the run game.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think there's just a lot of ways that he can affect the way
- 59:56[SPEAKER_01]: And he's up too, you know what I mean?
- 59:58[SPEAKER_01]: So do the C-Hoxery sign him when they're kind of probably have to re-sign Jackson's Pethan Jiga this off season too, right?
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like you think they would go in early on Spethan Jiga after the year that he's having.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_01]: So lots of like kind of big picture questions would see out on what this means for them, you know, over the next year.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: So and then, you know, obviously there's the immediate impact that they're hoping he makes.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_03]: All right, well, we got a big, I mean, would you call it a big football weekend ahead?
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, every weekend, I guess.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was nuts.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see what we got.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Raiders Broncos on Thursday night.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_03]: No, thank you.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's shaping up.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Raven's Vikings might be.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Patriots bucks.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_01]: What do you want?
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: Good one.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_03]: Hello.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_03]: And then, and then Ram's Niners.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good weekend.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_03]: And then Eagles vaners a Monday night football.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'll take that.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_01]: Eagles Packers.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_01]: Roger's dealers is intriguing.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's like we'll find out a little bit more about both teams.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: I can wrap by.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_01]: I can wrap my arms around that one.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, the one we're all looking forward to is just browns, right?
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the funny thing is as good as some of these matchups will be because we do have more Browns are really good.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's okay for that sauce garden or trade.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like that's part like I wonder if that was even the most my new part of the calculations is like, well, we have Cleveland, so it's not like we can look that bad the day after we trade everybody.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_03]: from Gilman on Baltimore has been doing work just to add little chess pieces to that defense and every week Kyle Hamilton is growing more and more into the Hulk again because now stuff's getting taken off his plate and he can freelance.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_03]: If I'm
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_03]: JJ McCarthy, I'm wary of that guy.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_03]: And I know I sound like Kirk her 3 pointing out the obvious that the best player on the other team you should look out for and I love Kirk, but it's, you know, that's one where it's like, oh, baby, but you know we should do Albert we should we should go to sleep.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I, I mean, I, I, the son of the party, I'm, I'm back on the horse here.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_03]: So I got, I'm already two cups in at this point.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_03]: You might as well just kind of write it out and see what the day brings.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_03]: But we, we got one home sick today.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_03]: So it's not, yeah, I don't think an app is happening.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_03]: Unless it's like an accident or one as a dad, would you, would you, would you can play off?
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_03]: Because you can get everybody in the play can be intentional now.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we got the we have the playpen and so you can get the infinite there and then you can get the four-year-old in there and everybody's playing a game But meanwhile, Dad's just falling asleep on the pile of stuffed animals, so I might be able to I might be able to pull one of those off, but Thank you guys for listening.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_03]: This was fun.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_03]: Get back at us.
