Latest / The Uncensored Catholic / Show 59: My work is under attack
Transcript
- 1:00Hey, y'all, welcome today's show. I think we can. We'll finish
- 1:04up our chapter or we'll finish up our series on Saint Hilgard. I'm mentioned
- 1:12today. There's a lot more to say, but I'm just talking really,
- 1:18I'm really talking more about the spiritual side of Saint Hildegarde and if you're interested
- 1:23in her herbal medicine, specifically, my book The Christian History and Practice of
- 1:29Herbal Medicine give us a good overview of her cures for remedies and talks about
- 1:38both their physical and spiritual nature. So if you want to check that out,
- 1:42if obviously, if you can't buy my book, if you can't afford
- 1:47it, I understand. I did a similar two articles from Mizzio Day.
- 1:53You can go to Missio Day and you can get her remedies as I wrote
- 1:57them in my book in detail for free. Okay, if you need to
- 2:02do that, that's fine. You know, I'm a little hesitant to talk
- 2:07about it, but I have been under somewhat of an attack over my books,
- 2:15especially The Christian History of herbal Medicine, but also my book Confirmation Autobiograph,
- 2:23Autobiograph Fee of Faith, and several others. You know, I've left
- 2:29in God's hands. I'm not going to complain about it. But specifically,
- 2:34if you were going to Amazon and you look at the reviews for my book,
- 2:39The History of Christian Herbal Medicine, you'll see a couple of people who've
- 2:45left reviews saying that my book is not Christian at all and it's all about
- 2:47mysticism. And one specifically says it's not Christian, it's Catholic or something along
- 2:53those lines. He or she it seemed to be a female voice to me,
- 2:58lied about what I wrote and twisted my words. So I am going
- 3:00to try not to do the same. I'm gonna be charitable, and I'm
- 3:06going to say that this is a Protestant who was offended that I talked about
- 3:12the Catholic history verbal medicine. Because Protestants believe they're even though the Baptist Church
- 3:17is barely a couple hundred years old, they think it's been around since the
- 3:21time of Christ, and ditto the Methodist, and ditto the Presbyterian and all
- 3:23that. They don't like to hear that there was no Christian church oh than
- 3:29Catholic, you know, aside from the Orthodox, and you know which is
- 3:34we talked about that before. The Orthodox is not a really Protestant church.
- 3:38It says, it's a break, it's a schism over certain doctoral issues and
- 3:43language that is being resolved and will be resolved soon. I believe some people
- 3:47may argue with that. The Russians specifically can be very proud of their Russian
- 3:53Orthodox Church and they say will never become Catholic. But really the reunification has
- 3:58been in the process. Says for the last one hundred or two hundred years,
- 4:02there was no Protestant church until the mid fourteen hundreds. You know,
- 4:09there was only the Catholic Church. You tell it to a Protestant, they
- 4:11get angry. They try to say that there were these underground churches and the
- 4:15Catholic Church has always persecuted the real church. Tell the faults. I know
- 4:20that, you know that anyone who even a secular person who has a cursory
- 4:26knowledge of history no set But they're tact and I'm not sure that they're all
- 4:32Protestant that have been kind of coming after me. I think some of them
- 4:36are New Age people and they found what they think is an argument that will
- 4:42sway Protestants against my work is to say that my work is about mysticism on
- 4:47the most recent review, is really this honest saying I talked about other deities,
- 4:53and I have no idea what they're talking about, because I mean,
- 4:56the only deity discussed in my book is odd the Trinity, the Holy Trinity.
- 5:03Maybe it's a very ignorant Protestant taking issue with my discussing saints or the
- 5:11archangel Raphael who was said to have given the knowledge of herbs to Moses.
- 5:16But I didn't talk about other deities, that's for sure. This whole term
- 5:19mysticism is what they're trying to use to keep people from buying my books,
- 5:28and the mysticism, the only mysticism in my book is the writings of Saint
- 5:32hildegardefon Bention, And that's the only reason I bring this up. So if
- 5:36you hear this to show and you like check out my work, and you
- 5:40can afford a copy my book, I'd love for you to have a copy
- 5:43of my book and share it. The whole point of that book, the
- 5:46History of Christian herbal Medicine or the Christian History of herbal Medicine, is to
- 5:51counter the New Age movement and to show people that herbal medicine is very Christian.
- 5:58It's been part of our tradition really from day one, really from day
- 6:02one, Christians began treating the sick immediately, and their medicine, of course
- 6:10was herbs and prayer. And then of course that was formalized by the Holy
- 6:13Roman and Pert Charlemagne and Saint Benedict of Nertia. I mean the first Christian
- 6:18herbal, I mean the first herbal written in the Christian era was by Abbot
- 6:24Walaford Strabo, very prominent clergyman in the Church. And you know, herbal
- 6:30medicine is inherently, entirely Christian. And you know that's the point in my
- 6:39book. And for people to take and say, oh, this is mysticism
- 6:42and not Christian, that's why they keep saying not Christian is a lie.
- 6:46And that's why I'm not gonna First of all, Amazon will do nothing to
- 6:53remove dishonors reviews. The Amazon is not good and I wish we had an
- 6:57alternative, but we don't. That's for an end in an author, you
- 7:00have to go through Amazon. I'm like I said, I put in God's
- 7:03hands. I'm not going to complain about it. Yeah, they're hurting my
- 7:05business of hurting my sales, they're really hurting my mission of getting the history
- 7:12of Christian herbal medicine out to both Catholics and Protestants to counter the New Age
- 7:17and Neopagan movement. They're gonna have to answer for that. I mean,
- 7:21they're they're they're working for Satan, and they're gonna have to answer for that.
- 7:26But you know, if you if you have a chance to get my
- 7:28book, if you can and you read it, if you have a chance
- 7:31to write me a good review, gosh, I'd appreciate it. You know,
- 7:35when you make your living as an author, you need to sell books.
- 7:39And these people are through their attacks, and not just this book,
- 7:43but several of my books. Because everything I write is from a Christian perspective.
- 7:47They're really hurting me financially, and there's nothing I can do about it.
- 7:53And I'm not going to worry about it. I'm pray, hope,
- 7:55and don't worry is my motto. Or pray and work. As Saint Benedict
- 7:59said, I'm leaving in God's hands. He can deal with our enemies,
- 8:05and he can do it a lot better than me. I'm you know what
- 8:09I'm doing. I'm praying for them. I'm praying they'll come to a realization
- 8:13and they'll take down their dishonest and malicious reviews. But you know, you
- 8:18as my audience and my friends, if if you can help me out a
- 8:20little bit, bless you, bless you if you can, that would be
- 8:28absolutely wonderful. But yeah, this this attack is very much based on my
- 8:35writings about Saint Hilguard. If i'vention, there are people, whether they're Neo
- 8:39Pagans or New Age people or Protestants, who do not wish to believe that
- 8:46Catholics can communicate with Jesus and angels and saints. They're the same people who
- 8:52would deny the miracles at Fatima and Mega Gorge here, the healings at Lords,
- 8:58etc. They do not believe in miraculous intervention in human lives. They
- 9:05want to call as superstitions, superstitious, not Christian, you know, interested
- 9:11in mysticism and you know whatever. Okay, I'm sorry, Protestants, you
- 9:16do not have the power of the miraculous power of God in your religion in
- 9:22the same way a Catholic does. God is not present, body and blood,
- 9:28soul and divinity in your church. And you will not see a eucharistic
- 9:33hoast turn into bleeding flesh, as has happened several times. You will not
- 9:37have the miracles at Lord's you will not have the blessed Virgin Mary appearing.
- 9:43And you know, telling you about the dangers that are imminent on the horizon,
- 9:50you could have it, You could have it any day, but you
- 9:54walked away from it. And until you come back to us, until you
- 9:56rejoin the body of Christ and the church he found, you won't. And
- 10:03you know, if you're attacking a Christian who's devoted his life to trying to
- 10:07do good and tells the truth with every ounce of his being as best he
- 10:13can, and praise every day that the Holy Spirit will guide him and his
- 10:16writing and his podcasting, you know, maybe you're not on the right side.
- 10:22I'm sorry, maybe you're not on the right side. You know,
- 10:26Satan is the father of lives and confusion. And you know, if you
- 10:31don't believe the big plain words of Jesus, like in speaking about the Eucharist,
- 10:37or the forgiveness of sins, or the efficacy of baptism, or the
- 10:41unity of the church, if you don't believe sacred tradition as had passed down
- 10:46through the apostles, and if you don't believe the saints when they tell you,
- 10:50yeah, I spoke with Jesus and this is what he told me.
- 10:54You know, maybe you're on the wrong side. Sorry, maybe you're on
- 10:58the wrong side. But anyway, let's you know what, even if you
- 11:05can't buy my book, and like I said, I'd love it if you
- 11:07did. And I'm not saying you have to. I mean that that book
- 11:11is like a mission for me. I mean, I grew up in herbal
- 11:16medicine and it really bothers me when people denigrate the Catholic Church and try to
- 11:22say that somehow Christianity is opposed to herbal medicine, as if God didn't give
- 11:26us the herbs and teach us how to use them. I am defending Christianity
- 11:33through my practice of verbal medicine. So through my practice of verbal medicine.
- 11:39So that's a mission for me. Okay, I'm not begging you to buy
- 11:41my book. I just hope a lot of people will read it. You
- 11:46know, I'd love to seeing libraries and people could read it for free.
- 11:50That's fine. I'd love to see it in every church library. So you
- 11:54know, grandparents could show their grandchildren, and parents could show their children when
- 11:58they start to get into New Age ideology. It just because they want to
- 12:03connect with nature. That's a human need we all have. And of course
- 12:07Protestantism is, you know, denies that the Catholic Church actually very much embraces
- 12:11the natural world, the physical world. But one thing you can really do
- 12:16that would help me a lot and help spread the message. If you don't
- 12:20have a penny to spend, just share my podcasts with people. If I
- 12:24could get just you know a handful of people. I mean, first of
- 12:28all, you know, the more people that listen to my podcasts, the
- 12:31more it helps pay for the hosting. If a few paid subscribers to my
- 12:37subject newsletter would help out tremendously on the financial terms. But as far as
- 12:41spreading the message, you know, I mean, I put this out every
- 12:46every four shows a week and millions of people could have access to this.
- 12:52Podcasts are free, but I can't tell them about it. I can only
- 12:56tell so many. You can tell as many as I can, and they
- 13:00can tell them anymore. And if we spread this podcast dask and spread the
- 13:07word about Catholicism. You know, my unique perspective I guess you would say
- 13:13on Catholicism as a convert and as an herbalist and all that more than anything
- 13:18I can do on my own. So I'm just going to ask all my
- 13:20listeners, if you hear this, share it with a friend, share it
- 13:24with five friends, send it out to your list, posted on social media.
- 13:31Yeah, I'm by putting it all in God's hands. I say my
- 13:35prayers and I've got saints advocating on my behalf, and i know it's going
- 13:39to work out. I mean, you know, the forces of evil were
- 13:43not going to prevail, but you can help. You can be, you
- 13:48know, a soldier in this battle, and it can be as simply simple
- 13:52as simply sharing the podcast. You know, if you could do more,
- 13:58do more. But if all you can do is say, hey, you
- 14:01know, I listen to this podcast called The Uncensored Catholic. This guy's kind
- 14:03of funny sometimes, you know, sometimes he gets into politics and he can
- 14:07be a little controversial, but he's a he's a real orthodox Catholic and I
- 14:11enjoy listening to it if you enjoy listening to it. By the way,
- 14:15he's a really good guitar player too. If you want to say that if
- 14:20you don't, if you think I'm an awful guitar player, don't worry about
- 14:24But if you could share it, you know, I mean, yeah,
- 14:28one person writes a bad review, or two or three people write bad reviews
- 14:33on Amazon, and they kill my book sales. You know, thousands of
- 14:37people read it, and it just is a blow to me financially, But
- 14:43it's really more a blow to me in my mission of sharing what I think
- 14:48God's given me to share. I can't do a thing about it, not
- 14:52a thing. But if you share my podcast, thousands of people can learn
- 14:58that way, and it will do more to counter what, you know,
- 15:03what the forces of evil we're trying to do than just than anything I can
- 15:07do on my own, that's for sure. So let's get into the show,
- 15:11all right. So you know, we always start with a couple of
- 15:13questions the answers from radio replies. Today the questioner asks the priests what is
- 15:20the purpose of life on this earth? So of course they go back to
- 15:24the old you know, the old catechism. Man has created to praise,
- 15:28love and serve God in this life and by doing so, to attain eternal
- 15:33life with God hereafter. This is not our only life, but it is
- 15:37an infinitesinal part of it. It's a small part of life, but everything
- 15:41hinderes on it. Person says, I can't imagine what future life can possibly
- 15:46be like. Well, who can? I know? One person can?
- 15:50Father Dan down at Saint Mary, Mother of God church, Saint Mary,
- 15:54Virgin Mother of God's church's lawn name in heartsvill South Carolina, who's been to
- 15:58heaven many times. He said, you know, I guess Protestants would get
- 16:02upset this as well. But yes, Father Dan is a priest whose wife
- 16:06and daughter were killed, who has had several visions of heaven. He's spoken
- 16:10with He's seen Jesus, He's spoken many times with a blessed Virgin Mary.
- 16:15He has been in heaven and Hognan kissed his wife and daughter, and they
- 16:22told him what his mission is in life, and he's seen what his future
- 16:26is an eternity if he fulfills that mission. If Protestants knew the miracles that
- 16:32take place in the Catholic Church, that would be the end of Protestantism.
- 16:37No one in their right mind would deny and forsake what would we call him?
- 16:45The consolations of God given through the Catholic Church. Well, anyway,
- 16:52they answer, there is a vast difference between imagining a future life and conceiving
- 16:56of it. This is the difference between imagination and thought, and not imagine
- 17:00or picture the future life anymore than you were able to do so. The
- 17:04only images we could form would be derived from this life and would fit this
- 17:08life, not the next. Yet, although we cannot imagine what the next
- 17:12life will be like, we can conceive the fact that it will be,
- 17:17and also the intelligible principles by which it will be regulated. Person goes on,
- 17:23is the future spiritual world an educational one? Now? This is an
- 17:27interesting question, kind of goes back to it's probably the same one that asked
- 17:33about reincarnation. This is sort of a proto New Age type of philosophy,
- 17:38and the answer not in the sense you probably intended to see. In their
- 17:44concept, the soul is always developing, changing form. One life leads to
- 17:48another, in which you know what each one helps complete the whole a little
- 17:55bit as actually a very gnostic concept. The Church dealt with that in about
- 18:00two hundred. But of course it goes back to Eastern what we call mystery
- 18:04religions. They say not in the sense you probably intend. We are now
- 18:11progressing towards our final destination. There we shall have attained it. The one
- 18:17exception is in the case of a soul that goes to purgatory, where it
- 18:21undergoes a progressive purification fitting for the vision of God. This cannot strictly be
- 18:26called educational, because it is a spiritual evolution towards perfect holiness. In other
- 18:33words, this is the one life we got. We will have a short
- 18:38life here on this earth. After that. What we've done on this earth
- 18:44is what will depend on which will hinge our destiny. We are bound for
- 18:49either heaven or hell. And there is such a thing of purgatory, which
- 18:56is a great gift and grace of God. Another thing Protestants don't understand.
- 19:02It's a chance God gives us because of our ignorance and weakness that he fully
- 19:07understands, having been man himself and the person of Jesus Christ, he will
- 19:11give us a final chance to do penance to make up for what we're lacking
- 19:18here on earth, a place of purgation. He speaks of it several times
- 19:22in the Gospels. One point he refers took like a debtor's prison, where
- 19:29you'll be there until you paid every penny and another one. It's the you
- 19:34know, we're just talking about how many times must you forgive your brother?
- 19:37I believe it's the gospel of Luke, but I don't have it right in
- 19:40front of me. And he says, if you don't forgive your brother,
- 19:45well, he says, in this parable, he goes on. He talks
- 19:48about the punishment due. And he said that the you know, the king
- 19:56had forgiven someone's debt and the guy begged from her see and he said okay.
- 20:00And then the guy went and extorted money from someone who owed it to
- 20:06him. And the king said, now you're going to have to pay the
- 20:07price because you didn't treat your brother with compassion. You'll be handed over to
- 20:14the torturers until you pay the full price. And Jesus said, the same
- 20:18will happened to you if you don't forgive your brother. Here on earth,
- 20:23we can talk about the peril labs Orus and the rich man, we can
- 20:26go on and on. Purgatory is the place where we will, thank God,
- 20:32have the one final opportunity to make right what we were too weak or
- 20:37ignorant to do right in this life. And therefore go to heaven. You
- 20:42know, the Bible also says nothing impure can enter heaven without purgatory. Very
- 20:51very few people are getting into heaven, very very few, only absolute saints.
- 20:59Purgatory is an incredible blessing, will all all Christians will have the opportunity
- 21:03to experience it. And there's going to be a whole lot of Protestants that
- 21:07are shocked and very grateful for the opportunity of purgation so that they can go
- 21:14to heaven, because the Protestant doctrine of once saved, always saved is absolutely
- 21:19anti biblical. It's not only unbiblical, it is opposed to the very teachings
- 21:25of Christ. So we're twenty minutes of the show already. Let's see if
- 21:29I can wrap up Saint Hildegarde in about ten fifteen. All right, not
- 21:33exactly the easiest thing to do when we're talking about so profound a saint,
- 21:40and I am telling you this is this is a doctor of the church.
- 21:44This is a woman whose writings very few people will ever be able fully understand.
- 21:49No matter how intelligent you are, it takes a spiritual enlightenment to understand
- 21:59what she was talking about, especially in her theological works, her mystical works,
- 22:06of which I did not write about in my history of Christian rbal medicine.
- 22:12Regardless of what these people want to accuse me of that it's not Christian
- 22:15at all, it's all about mysticism. Well, it is Christian, and
- 22:22there are Christian mystics. If you're going to throw out Saint Hildegarde, you
- 22:27might as well throw out the Book of Revelation. Yeah, Saint John the
- 22:33Apostle, he was a mystic, he was given visions. Throw out the
- 22:37Book of Daniel while you're at it. That's a mystical book. You could
- 22:42throw out all the profits of the Old Testament. Anyway. We'll get back
- 22:49to Saint Hildegard. Now, As I said, Saint Hildegard's vision of herbal
- 22:59medicine, of of health in general is very spiritual. Through sin, death,
- 23:04disorder, destruction, degeneration, disease entered the world. Every disease has
- 23:11a spiritual cause. That's not to say one doesn't get a germ or a
- 23:15virus, or cut, one suffer or break a leg. It's just the
- 23:21fact that mortality and disorder entered the world through sin, and without sin,
- 23:29such things wouldn't happen now because we have a causation in our life does not
- 23:34mean, you know, as Jesus said, the tower didn't fall in those
- 23:37people because they were particularly bad sinners. You know, it doesn't mean it's
- 23:41sin that caused us specifically to catch a head cold. But that head cold
- 23:47is only in the world due to the wages of sin. Therefore, we
- 23:53have both a physical and a spiritual cure. The physical cure is given through
- 23:59God via creation. You know, God created the world and he said it
- 24:03is good. It's according to Jewish legend, the archangel Raphael taught Moses about
- 24:08how to use all the herbs. Solomon was given the wisdom of you know,
- 24:14the knowledge of all plants and animals and all that all nature. So
- 24:19from a physical perspective, she would say that, okay, yes, sage
- 24:22is good for a sore throat. You know, sage is a stringent.
- 24:26It helps kind of shrink up that soreth throat and a help break a fever.
- 24:30Sage is a good rb when you have a head cold or especially a
- 24:33chess cold, because it helps with congestion in the lungs. From a spiritual
- 24:40perspective, she would say this illness may have come upon you because God wants
- 24:47you to have some times in quiet time to examine your life. We draw
- 24:51from the world pray, and she would be very clear, and she was
- 24:56in several cases, that you will be healed if it's God's will that you're
- 25:02healed, if it's better for you to suffer in this life, and you're
- 25:07going to suffer in this life, if you need to do some penance,
- 25:10if you need to be prevented from doing something wrong. Yeah, but these
- 25:14are very Catholic concepts. Your grandmother is going to tell you the exact same
- 25:18thing. You know. That may sound a little odd in our modern world
- 25:22that sees everything through a microscope, but in terms of the last two thousand
- 25:29years of Catholic history, and that's exactly what someone would say. Our prayers
- 25:33in the Catholic Church for healing is that God, if it's be your will,
- 25:37heal me from this sickness. Otherwise, you know, it's better for
- 25:41me to learn what I'm supposed to learn and to do what I'm supposed to
- 25:44do for as long as need be, because this is a this a tiny
- 25:48moment in Eternity's forever. But to get more into depth here. Creation is
- 25:59order. Okay, every atom exists only because it's perfectly ordered. We can
- 26:03see the pattern of order and everything from the cells of the smallest plant or
- 26:07animal to the fractual patterns of the stars and galaxies throughout the universe. Disease
- 26:14is disorder. It is the unraveling of patterns. Death is degeneration when the
- 26:19pattern has degraded and the order stops. We can see this in the destruction
- 26:23of tissue due to infection, the abnormal growth patterns of cancer, or simply
- 26:29the cessation of the rhythms of the heart and breadth that signal the end of
- 26:32life. Again, the Bible tells us that death entered the world through sin.
- 26:37Sin is defined as disordered passions, an action based on the desire to
- 26:41do what is wrong. Very simply put, the difference between right and wrong
- 26:45is in accord with the order created by God, and wrong is in discord.
- 26:51Man is the only element of creation that has free will and a conscience.
- 26:55It is hard for the human mind to grasp that one element of disharmony
- 26:59introduced into the timeline of creation, the fall. The fall of man,
- 27:03the first conscious choice of our ancestors to willfully. Sin introduced disorder into an
- 27:08ordered creation. This disrupted the symmetry of the pattern and continues to ripple like
- 27:15a stone dropped into a steel pond throughout all of human history. Through the
- 27:21actions of one man and one woman, sin and death enter the world again.
- 27:25As I said yesterday, like a damaged gear and a perfectly made clock,
- 27:30God can well. Unlike a clock which can't fix itself or asked to
- 27:36be fixed, we can. And the grace of Jesus is the active action
- 27:40of God in human affairs in the only way that allows for free will.
- 27:45God will heal the body and soul of man, adjusting that gear to so
- 27:48to speak, so that we have eternal life. But only with a conscious
- 27:52act of acceptance. The hand of the Creator will reach in and repair what
- 27:57is broken for an individual, but only if the individual accepts health, accepts
- 28:03help, and only if that is what is best. Another hard teaching of
- 28:07Christianity is its suffering is redemptive. Through suffering, we atone for sin,
- 28:12while the sufferings of Christ were for all. Only through uniting are suffering to
- 28:18his do we participate in his sacrifice. Saint Paul Urge continue to work out
- 28:23your salvation, depending on your translation, could say in pain and suffering or
- 28:27in fear and trembling. The Church teaches that only at the end, when
- 28:32all people who are willing have found salvation through Christ and all evil has been
- 28:37absolutely defeated, will disease and death the end not just for man, but
- 28:41for all creation. The entire universe and everything in it will once again live
- 28:45in eternity. Through the fall of man, death entered the world, and
- 28:48through the salvation of Man, all will be restored. See in Saint Hildegard's
- 28:55Understanding How the Universe, which is very biblical. You know, it actually
- 28:59says that the Bible everything is very connected. Everything's very interconnected. Every physical
- 29:06object that God created has an influence on our physical and spiritual lives, and
- 29:14our physical and spiritual lives have an influence on every object that God created.
- 29:19That's yeah, I mean that actually is biblical. The entire universe was awaiting
- 29:26for the coming of Christ to be redeemed and regenerated through the actions of man,
- 29:33and the physical or the spiritual are intensely intertwined, in separately, intertwined.
- 29:41So for this reason, all of Saint Hilgard's medicine has a deeply spiritual
- 29:45context, as man is a microcosm of everything in the spiritual and physical.
- 29:51As man is a microcosm of everything in the physical and spiritual universe, the
- 29:55crown of creation, as the Bible says, and well beyond the physical uni
- 30:00versus spiritual will, all things have the ability to affect the body and soul
- 30:03of man. For this reason, she uses herbs, as did the ancient
- 30:07Greeks. She also recommended metals, stones, gems, crystals, eating various
- 30:11meats and fish, wearing the fur of specific animals or leather, and even
- 30:17viewing certain colors. This makes Saint Hilgard's medicine incomprehensible to modern medicine and can
- 30:23cause it to be viewed with suspicion by those who observe certain of her cures
- 30:27to be similar to those used by non Christian healers. However, it is
- 30:33essential to remember that Saint Hildegard is a doctor of the Church, and her
- 30:36canonization as a saint is evidence that she died a state of grace, and
- 30:40her writings are approved by the very church that compiled, wrote, and published
- 30:44the Bible. It is of this Church that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
- 30:48promised the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Only of a sincere
- 30:52faith in God in earnest prayer will the remedies prescribed by Saint Hildegard bring healing
- 30:56unless, as she wrote, this is what she said us, God does
- 31:00not will it for the person. In Genesis we are told that God looked
- 31:03at all he created and said it is good. No object or plant is
- 31:07bad a new age hip. He might use a crystal, and a witch
- 31:11might use the same urbs as a Christian herbalist. That doesn't make him bad.
- 31:17It's the intent of the person. It's the beliefs of the person.
- 31:19It's the belief and intent of the individual that makes the use of anything created
- 31:23by God either moral or immoral. One man may use a gun in self
- 31:29defense and another commit murder. It is the intention of the man that makes
- 31:32the use of this object good or bad. A good illustration of the energetic
- 31:37view of healing in Saint Hildegard's concept of veriditas or is Saint Hildegard's concept of
- 31:44verriditas. This is a Latin derived term meaning both green and vibrantly full of
- 31:49life. She described it as the greening power of God. Many people who
- 31:53stutter modern medicine and herbal medicine cannot understand why she would recommend simply gazing at
- 31:59a bird spring pasture to help eyesight. However, all color is reflected energy.
- 32:05We see a color in the color spectrum because that is what the object
- 32:08or the plant, or the feather or the bird, etc. Reflects.
- 32:14They absorbed some of that energy and reflect the other and what we see is
- 32:16a reflected light. The color enters our eyes as a specific frequency of light
- 32:23energy. We know that people's moods can be affected by color. The brain
- 32:28activity is confected as affected by color. Some colors are calming and some are
- 32:32invigorating. That's what modern science has shown what Saint Hildegard knew in about eleven
- 32:37d Saint Hildegard believed that the many shades of green to be found in nature
- 32:44were healing, not only to the eyes, but supportive of health in general.
- 32:47She believed that man could not live a healthy, sane life separated from
- 32:52nature and the incredible beauty of creation, which I certainly agree. She believed
- 32:57that disorder, ugliness, degeneration, sin negatively affect every aspect of the human
- 33:01being, much as we read Philippians. Finally, Brothers, whatever is true,
- 33:06whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is
- 33:08lovely, whatever is gracious. If there is any excellence, and if there
- 33:14is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Other translations state,
- 33:19look upon these things. It is a great sacrifice and an act of penance
- 33:22to care for the sick and to bury the dead. So Christians must not
- 33:24avoid such duties. A blind eye cannot be turned to all ugliness. But
- 33:30beauty and music, nature, writing and art is indeed healing to the body
- 33:35and soul. How well, it's the energetic nature. It's a harmony inherent
- 33:40in what we would call beautiful. Recently, it has been found that laughter
- 33:45and music support the immune system. Healing with herbs and other medicine, then,
- 33:50is an act of cooperation with God's will for order, health, happiness,
- 33:53and beauty when in accord with his will. Saint hille Guard often caution
- 34:00that illness can only be healed if that is God's will. Sometimes suffering is
- 34:05necessary for salvation, as Saint Paul wrote in his Letter to the Romans.
- 34:08Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction
- 34:15produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character hope in the
- 34:20philosophy of Saint Hildegard's medicine, to heal the body and not the soul would
- 34:23not be healing at all. So that wraps up our brief introduction of Saint
- 34:32Hildegarde. Her works are profound and she wrote a lot, so if you're
- 34:38interested specifically in her herbal medicine, you know the book was Physica her beliefs
- 34:47about disease and health, cause at cure a, causes and curs and if
- 34:52you want, yeah, a brief but detailed overview from an herbalist perspective of
- 34:59modern herbalist perspective that it will tell you how to use her remedies. My
- 35:06book, the formal title of which is Christian Medicine History and Practice. You
- 35:09can get it on Amazon and please leave me a good review if you do.
- 35:15But there's awesome information for free through missy O Day if you get it
- 35:21that way. I'm thrilled just for you to have the information. But just
- 35:23please say a prayer, Just say a prayer for me that you know God
- 35:28will protect me from my enemies and prosper my work, and say a prayer
- 35:31from the people who are attacking me and criticizing me, that God will show
- 35:36them the error of their ways and they'll just have a change of heart and
- 35:38take it down. You know, they don't have to say they're sorry,
- 35:42they don't have to do anything. But you know, as an author,
- 35:46as one who makes a living as an author, these people are really doing
- 35:51me substantial harm. And there's nothing I can do about it but pray.
- 35:54And if you'll pray along with me, and Saint hill Regard a pray for
- 35:59me, and all the angels and saints will pray for all of us.
- 36:04We'll all be all right because God hears the prayers of the righteous. So
- 36:09once again, Saint Hilligard, I'm vinje and pray for us. In the
- 36:14words of Saint Padre Pio. Pray, hope and don't worry. Saint Padre
- 36:19Pio, pray for us. How about Saint Benedict of Nursia, great founder
- 36:24of herbal medicine, hospitals and monastic orders. Saint Benedict of Nursia, pray
- 36:30for us in the name of Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
