- Lucas: Luna, welcome back! I'm so glad you're here. Luna: Thanks Lucas! I've been practicing, but today I wanted to visit you at work. Where do you actually work? Lucas: I work at an office. In Swedish, that's 'Jag jobbar på kontoret.' Let's say it together: 'Jag jobbar på kontoret.' Luna: Jag jobbar på kontoret. That's 'I work at the office,' right? Lucas: Exactly. 'Jag jobbar' means 'I work,' and 'kontoret' is 'the office.' So you could say that to someone when they ask what you do. Luna: Jag jobbar på kontoret. I love it. So, you have a desk, right? Where's your desk? Lucas: Good question! To ask 'Where is your desk?', you say 'Var är ditt skrivbord?' 'Skrivbord' is 'desk' – literally 'writing table.' Give it a try. Luna: Var är ditt skrivbord? That's a mouthful. 'Skrivbord' – I think I got it. Lucas: You did great. 'Var' is 'where,' 'är' is 'is,' and 'ditt' means 'your' for ett-words like 'skrivbord'. So 'Var är ditt skrivbord?' It's handy when you're visiting someone's office. Luna: Okay, I'll use that. Now, I might need help finding something. How do I ask 'Can you help me?' Lucas: Perfect timing. 'Can you help me?' is 'Kan du hjälpa mig?' Let's hear it: 'Kan du hjälpa mig?' Luna: Kan du hjälpa mig? That sounds really useful. And it's polite, right? Lucas: Absolutely. You can use it anytime you need assistance. So, remember that one. Luna: I will. You know, Lucas, this show has really helped me feel more confident with Swedish. I use it almost every day. Lucas: That's wonderful to hear. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress, and you'd like to support the show, you can do that at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Even a small amount makes a real difference. Luna: Yeah, it keeps us going and helps us keep everything ad-free. Thanks to anyone who chips in. Now, back to the office – do you have meetings today? Lucas: I do! 'I have a meeting' is 'Jag har ett möte.' 'Möte' is 'meeting.' Let's say it: 'Jag har ett möte.' Luna: Jag har ett möte. I might say that to excuse myself. And what about lunch? I heard you Swedes love lunch breaks. Lucas: We do! To say 'See you at lunch,' you say 'Vi ses på lunchen.' 'Lunchen' is 'the lunch.' Let's practice: 'Vi ses på lunchen.' Luna: Vi ses på lunchen. That's a nice way to end a meeting or conversation. So I can say that to my colleagues. Lucas: Exactly. And it's common to say 'Vi ses' for 'see you' in casual settings. So 'Vi ses på lunchen' is perfect. Luna: Today's phrases have been so practical. Let me try to use them all: Jag jobbar på kontoret. Var är ditt skrivbord? Kan du hjälpa mig? Jag har ett möte. Vi ses på lunchen. Lucas: Nailed it! That's a whole office conversation in Swedish. Keep practicing, and next time we'll build on this. For now, vi ses på lunchen!
