- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome into Jagson, presented by Carshield. It's Monday, August fourteenth.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We have Jaguars actual football to talk about in terms
- 0:25Speaker 1: of they played a preseason game, which we've been dying
- 0:27Speaker 1: for because we've been you know, sweating mount in the
- 0:29Speaker 1: sun at training camp. So things are legit, and I
- 0:32Speaker 1: think some of the younger players we've been talking about
- 0:34Speaker 1: really came out and showed out. And that was what
- 0:37Speaker 1: I was most impressed by from that game.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I think all the rookies did. I mean, maybe you
- 0:41Speaker 2: could say Eric Hallett, but you just go down the
- 0:44Speaker 2: line and every one of them. John did something that
- 0:48Speaker 2: was noteworthy.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's what you look for.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I've gotten a striking number of emails from people upset
- 0:54Speaker 4: about this or that, and the first team offense didn't
- 0:57Speaker 4: start fast. And look Doug talk this morning. He wants
- 1:00Speaker 4: to start faster.
- 1:01Speaker 3: But is there a big concern on your part.
- 1:04Speaker 4: That the offense isn't gonna be good? None, So relax
- 1:07Speaker 4: about the offense until we see it a couple of
- 1:09Speaker 4: regular season games not work, It's gonna work. What you
- 1:12Speaker 4: wanted out of this was to see the young players
- 1:16Speaker 4: you wanted to see guys. As they step up, they
- 1:19Speaker 4: certainly seem deeper. I thought the depth issue was overrated
- 1:22Speaker 4: last year. I thought they were fairly deep in key spots.
- 1:25Speaker 4: But it looks like they have some young guys who
- 1:28Speaker 4: are gonna be key and good for the future of
- 1:31Speaker 4: this franchise.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And by the way, apologies to Derek Parrish and Eric
- 1:35Speaker 2: Hallett if they did something. You know, I didn't see
- 1:37Speaker 2: every Worokie do something, but as I went through my list,
- 1:41Speaker 2: there were a lot of guys that did, and to me,
- 1:43Speaker 2: that's what matters the most.
- 1:44Speaker 1: And we're gonna be talking a ton about that today.
- 1:45Speaker 1: But let's start off with big things. Because third drive
- 1:48Speaker 1: was the charm for Trevor. We thought we would see
- 1:50Speaker 1: the starters for maybe one or two drives. Obviously Trevor
- 1:53Speaker 1: Lawrence throwing that interception on the first drive, and then
- 1:58Speaker 1: you know, they punted on the second drive.
- 2:00Speaker 5: It's obviously a bit.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Of a I think Duck said the ball slipped out
- 2:04Speaker 1: of his hands there, but just a mistake. You know,
- 2:05Speaker 1: he just shouldn't have either thrown out of bounds or
- 2:08Speaker 1: you know, let that play go.
- 2:10Speaker 5: But they did bounce back from that, right.
- 2:11Speaker 1: They got the fumble on the punt and they were
- 2:15Speaker 1: able to get the ball back on that third possession.
- 2:17Speaker 1: They put the stage back out there and then you
- 2:18Speaker 1: saw the drive that you wanted to see, right. You
- 2:19Speaker 1: want to see them finish strong and to get that
- 2:21Speaker 1: touchdown pass to Christian Kirk. They went for the two
- 2:23Speaker 1: point conversion as well, and I think John were encouraged
- 2:27Speaker 1: that at least they were able to kind of finish
- 2:28Speaker 1: things off after a little bit of.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Rocky start there.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and you want to see him smooth it out
- 2:32Speaker 4: over the long run. But this is sort of what
- 2:34Speaker 4: Trevor is. I mean, he he.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Gets it going.
- 2:39Speaker 4: It can take him a while to get started, and
- 2:41Speaker 4: it took him ahi to get stared the other night.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I'm not worried about the interception. I'm not worried about
- 2:45Speaker 4: anything on this offense. But you know, if they had
- 2:49Speaker 4: stopped the game after three series against the Chargers last year,
- 2:53Speaker 4: but it gets fired, Yeah, I mean, I'm exaggera and
- 2:55Speaker 4: they weren't gona get fired. But you know, so football
- 2:58Speaker 4: is a sixty minute game. This is what this team
- 3:00Speaker 4: sort of is. If this was a game, they hung
- 3:03Speaker 4: in there, they shut them out, and then they got
- 3:05Speaker 4: to turn over and went in and scored.
- 3:08Speaker 2: That's football.
- 3:09Speaker 4: This team takes advantage of opportunities. I'm starting to think
- 3:14Speaker 4: of of Trevor's sort of an adrenaline quarterback and when
- 3:19Speaker 4: he gets it going and all of a sudden, it
- 3:22Speaker 4: can turn to magic. And his last two throws were
- 3:25Speaker 4: both scores, So stop worrying about the first one so much.
- 3:31Speaker 4: The offense is gonna be fine.
- 3:32Speaker 2: People were because they enjoy it, right, I mean, there
- 3:34Speaker 2: are people that like defining the negative in something and
- 3:37Speaker 2: then work their way through it. He's still a young quarterback.
- 3:40Speaker 2: He's got thirty six career starts, thirty four in the
- 3:42Speaker 2: regular season, so that's nothing that concerns me. I'll tell
- 3:45Speaker 2: you what I lot.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I guess what, Brian, this team's not going to score
- 3:48Speaker 4: in every possession this year. If they did, that would
- 3:51Speaker 4: be some sort of record, and they're probably gonna win
- 3:53Speaker 4: every game.
- 3:54Speaker 2: So you relax, I will. I don't want to point
- 3:57Speaker 2: at one thing. The thing that I liked the most
- 3:58Speaker 2: about the touchdown throw at about the two point was
- 4:01Speaker 2: how patient he was in the pocket, how he just
- 4:04Speaker 2: you know, and you covered the Patriots, so you know this.
- 4:06Speaker 2: When Tom Brady was at his best. He moved in
- 4:08Speaker 2: about a three foot circle, you know, radius in the pocket,
- 4:12Speaker 2: not very much, just enough to sort of avoid and
- 4:14Speaker 2: slide and get the vision that he needed. That's exactly
- 4:16Speaker 2: what Trevor did. And the other thing is that we
- 4:20Speaker 2: talked about second year in the systems. Second year with
- 4:22Speaker 2: these guys together, both Kirk and Jones worked their way open.
- 4:26Speaker 2: The quarterback was patient, they knew where they needed to be,
- 4:29Speaker 2: and they made the place. That's the second year factor
- 4:32Speaker 2: that we have been talking about since the spring.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I did like a lot of what I saw on
- 4:36Speaker 1: that third drive for them. I do have a Patriots
- 4:38Speaker 1: comparison coming up in hot takes because I did see
- 4:40Speaker 1: something very reminiscent there, which bodes well for this team.
- 4:44Speaker 1: As for our big thing number two, that's the youth movement.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So let's take a couple a look at some of
- 4:48Speaker 1: these plays that we had from Gregory Junior, because we
- 4:52Speaker 1: know Brian's been talking about him for a while now
- 4:54Speaker 1: and he really came through.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Well, look when you watch this guy, watch how fast
- 5:00Speaker 2: he gets where he's going and then how violently he arrives.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I mean, he's bang. You see him, he shows up,
- 5:06Speaker 2: he pops off the tape, and what impresses me is that,
- 5:09Speaker 2: you know, he's a guy that shows up from Watchita
- 5:11Speaker 2: Baptist Naia Division two school and in a short time
- 5:16Speaker 2: is making plays like that against guys who are competing
- 5:20Speaker 2: for jobs on the Cowboys roster. That was early in
- 5:23Speaker 2: the game. Those guys are competing for those special teams jobs.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And everything we saw from the digress in terms of
- 5:28Speaker 1: special teams, we've been talking about it for weeks now
- 5:30Speaker 1: about you know, making your mark there and that's how
- 5:32Speaker 1: you get your roster spot. And there's got to be
- 5:35Speaker 1: you know, probably five six players I saw making plays
- 5:37Speaker 1: that could get themselves a spot from that.
- 5:39Speaker 2: By the way, he is not just competing for a
- 5:41Speaker 2: special team's job this year, for the starting nickelback role
- 5:44Speaker 2: because he's good in the middle of the field.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think he's going to start at nickel
- 5:48Speaker 4: this year. I think they's going to get to Trey Herndon.
- 5:50Speaker 3: But he's.
- 5:52Speaker 4: What they needed desperately coming into this camp was for
- 5:56Speaker 4: some of this abyss of young corners meaning Braswell and
- 6:01Speaker 4: Junior and Brown, for somebody to step up where you
- 6:05Speaker 4: felt good about four, five and six, you know, exactly.
- 6:08Speaker 4: The three is where I'm just saying he can't get
- 6:10Speaker 4: to that third spot. But I would think it's going
- 6:12Speaker 4: to be Trey. But you wanted, you know, coming into camp,
- 6:18Speaker 4: you worried if any of those guys are out, who's
- 6:21Speaker 4: you've seen nothing. Credit to Tim Jones who forced the
- 6:24Speaker 4: first fumble and showed again why it's going to be
- 6:27Speaker 4: tough to have him not on the roster.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Hold on on it. I mean, I know Trade's been
- 6:31Speaker 2: around here for a while, but people that I talked
- 6:33Speaker 2: to say that that is real, that Trey Herndon and
- 6:36Speaker 2: Gregory Jr. Are locked in a battle for this job.
- 6:38Speaker 2: And it's not just going to be given to the
- 6:39Speaker 2: veteran because he's got more starts in a young player,
- 6:42Speaker 2: you know, with some uptick. There also one more name
- 6:45Speaker 2: we should mention, Devod Wilson, who had an interception that
- 6:47Speaker 2: was nullified by a penalty on Christian Braswell on the
- 6:50Speaker 2: other side of the field for illegal contact. So it
- 6:53Speaker 2: wasn't just brass Well and and the other draft picks
- 6:57Speaker 2: and Greg Jr. To Vod Wilson, the undrafted rule who
- 7:01Speaker 2: came from Georgia who we've talked about on this show
- 7:03Speaker 2: as well came through with a big play too.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's exactly what you want to see in the preseason,
- 7:07Speaker 1: these names that we've been talking about, that's where you
- 7:09Speaker 1: need to show out and do that. And we're going
- 7:11Speaker 1: to go over a bunch of that in the B
- 7:13Speaker 1: Block Courage just after the break. We're going to come
- 7:14Speaker 1: back and talk about a bunch of those young players,
- 7:16Speaker 1: specifically the draft picks and what they were able to
- 7:18Speaker 1: do in the game, and a round things out with
- 7:21Speaker 1: our big thing Number three, Canada's favorite Son. Because Nathan
- 7:25Speaker 1: Rourke had a play that ever has been blowing up
- 7:28Speaker 1: absolutely everywhere, and I was on the sideline that it
- 7:31Speaker 1: went down on and I was I myself just I
- 7:33Speaker 1: think I was just like, no way, this man doing
- 7:36Speaker 1: this right now because I was like, why is he
- 7:37Speaker 1: doing it? And then I was like, oh wait, there's
- 7:39Speaker 1: a chance here, because at this point I was like.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Wait, wait, wait, what are we doing? What are we doing?
- 7:44Speaker 1: And then it's like, oh wait, he's gonna throw it.
- 7:48Speaker 5: It's impressive.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Yeah, big time play.
- 7:50Speaker 4: I mean it's it's uh, let's pump the brakes on,
- 7:54Speaker 4: putt him in the Hall of Fame and he's.
- 7:56Speaker 5: In Canada's Hall of Fame. Thank you should be.
- 7:58Speaker 3: A some Jaguars fan.
- 8:00Speaker 4: He was the Canadian player there understandably going nuts and
- 8:03Speaker 4: you always want to see this, and he played well.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Besides this, I am now very very curious and interested
- 8:12Speaker 4: to watch the quarterbacks, the reserve quarterbacks the rest of
- 8:16Speaker 4: the preseason, which I wasn't before.
- 8:18Speaker 2: That play not remind you of that third quarter play
- 8:21Speaker 2: in Denver in twenty nineteen where Gardner Minshew was turned
- 8:24Speaker 2: inside out and bent over and ran around and found
- 8:27Speaker 2: Rockwall Armstead in the back of the end zone. That's
- 8:29Speaker 2: the first thing I thought of, is, oh, I've seen
- 8:31Speaker 2: that play before.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's I want to see it a couple
- 8:36Speaker 4: of more times. Yeah, a consistency, because he looked much
- 8:40Speaker 4: much better in the game than he did in any
- 8:44Speaker 4: of the training camp practices, in any the OTAs. So
- 8:48Speaker 4: I didn't think he had a very good chance to
- 8:49Speaker 4: make the team before the other night, you know, or
- 8:52Speaker 4: I wasn't sure what was going to happen. Now you
- 8:57Speaker 4: have to go with game performance with quarterbacks more than practice.
- 9:00Speaker 4: So let's see it a couple more times, Let's see
- 9:02Speaker 4: him stack it, and then maybe it gets interesting.
- 9:03Speaker 2: He's got a nice arm though. Yeah, yeah, you've got
- 9:05Speaker 2: some zip on that.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Were ready for another mania? Is that what you were
- 9:07Speaker 5: trying to say.
- 9:08Speaker 3: With the don't man yet?
- 9:11Speaker 2: No, And you're never gonna have that because you got
- 9:13Speaker 2: Trevor right, that's where the mania is, correct.
- 9:15Speaker 1: We don't want to get to the point where that's
- 9:17Speaker 1: what's happening again.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Obviously, I've heard and read a lot about wow, what
- 9:21Speaker 2: a singular play. Well I saw in the regular season.
- 9:22Speaker 2: We all did, right and at the time when when
- 9:25Speaker 2: Minshew made that play, it like, whoa, maybe this kid
- 9:28Speaker 2: can play because that literally was the exact same play,
- 9:30Speaker 2: just going back the other way to a running back.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So we'll see what he can do for the rest
- 9:34Speaker 1: of the preseason and then maybe you know, whether it's
- 9:36Speaker 1: here or elsewhere, you know, give himself a chance.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Oh, that play guarantees he'll be on someone's ross.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I think he'll be around here.
- 9:41Speaker 4: It just be a matter of how it.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Absolutely all right. Well, stay with us.
- 9:48Speaker 1: We're gonna go over some of those plays from the rookies,
- 9:50Speaker 1: specifically that rookie class, that huge rookie class from last year,
- 9:54Speaker 1: and how they were able to come through in the
- 9:55Speaker 1: first preseason game. Welcome back to Jake Zam presented by Carshield.
- 10:07Speaker 1: You can call car shield now. If your cars out
- 10:09Speaker 1: of manufacturer's warranty, do not get stuck with expensive mechanical
- 10:12Speaker 1: and computer repairs.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Call car shield now. We finally have some football film
- 10:18Speaker 5: to go over.
- 10:19Speaker 1: It is the preseason, but that's when we get to
- 10:21Speaker 1: see the young guys play. We get to see what
- 10:22Speaker 1: they have, specifically this rookie class which was huge, and
- 10:26Speaker 1: some undrafted free agency and a couple of second year
- 10:28Speaker 1: guys that really, you know, maybe we're on the practice
- 10:30Speaker 1: squad last year, didn't get a lot of playing time
- 10:31Speaker 1: that we got to see in action.
- 10:33Speaker 5: We're going to start out with let's see what are
- 10:35Speaker 5: we going to start out with?
- 10:36Speaker 2: Tank?
- 10:37Speaker 5: Obviously we've been talking about Tank for quite some time.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Right and everybody sees this, but watch eighty five. Watch
- 10:43Speaker 2: the tight end make the block. I'm not sure if
- 10:47Speaker 2: you can see it from that angle.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Yeah, you can see it. It was in tough, Yeah it was.
- 10:51Speaker 5: It freedom up for that big, long run.
- 10:53Speaker 2: And that's what you're looking for from a guy who
- 10:55Speaker 2: you draft in the second round, to be able to
- 10:57Speaker 2: contribute on both sides of the line. It's a great block.
- 11:00Speaker 5: And that's what they've been talking about.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Was Strange as well as like you know, Evan Ingrom
- 11:03Speaker 1: and Doug has spoken about as well. You know, you
- 11:06Speaker 1: may not be seeing as many catches Roun right now
- 11:08Speaker 1: because he's blocking and he's doing all the things they
- 11:09Speaker 1: want him to be doing.
- 11:10Speaker 2: And that's he drove his guy seven if you will,
- 11:13Speaker 2: exactly seven yards up heel.
- 11:15Speaker 4: He's I keep hearing how he's a run blocking tight
- 11:19Speaker 4: end and he's not a receiver.
- 11:21Speaker 5: I think he's both.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Every practice I see him make a good catch. Yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 4: and he's a rookie. I don't see why he won't
- 11:28Speaker 4: get better and better in that area. And he's already
- 11:32Speaker 4: talking to people who understand blocking far more than I do.
- 11:35Speaker 3: He's already a high end blocker.
- 11:37Speaker 4: So if he supplements that by being an average receiver,
- 11:40Speaker 4: you've got a really good player there.
- 11:42Speaker 2: That's important because here's the name we have not brought
- 11:44Speaker 2: up in training camp. Chris Manhertz, who was here for
- 11:46Speaker 2: two years and a powerful part of the running game,
- 11:49Speaker 2: is now in Denver. So you're gonna need Breton Strange
- 11:52Speaker 2: and Luke Ferrell, who by all accounts are really good
- 11:56Speaker 2: blocking tight ends to be able to do some of that.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Do you think they're gonna carry for no matter what?
- 12:00Speaker 4: Yes, totally, And in this day and age, you almost
- 12:04Speaker 4: have to because it does tight ends a disservice to
- 12:10Speaker 4: call them all the same thing, Meaning you basically have
- 12:14Speaker 4: Luke Farrow and Brittain Strange are your run tight ends,
- 12:17Speaker 4: and Angerman Prince are your move tight ends.
- 12:22Speaker 3: So teams keep two because you need a backup for
- 12:25Speaker 3: each starter at that spot essentially, and.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I think Strange has that ability to do both. I mean,
- 12:29Speaker 2: we've seen him on the practice hurt make excellent catches,
- 12:32Speaker 2: so it's not like he can't be that guy too.
- 12:34Speaker 1: He's going to be one that'll be to see where
- 12:36Speaker 1: he will be at the even the end of this season.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Second year, third year, I think is going to be
- 12:40Speaker 1: leaps and bounds just because of how quick he picks
- 12:42Speaker 1: things up.
- 12:42Speaker 4: He looks like a guy who could really be a
- 12:45Speaker 4: monster next year.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, time to bloss him in this offense. Get used
- 12:48Speaker 2: to what Doug wants to use with the tight ends.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Doug gloves this tight end.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yes, let's go to defense for our next player, because
- 12:54Speaker 1: we've been talking about him as well, when we talk
- 12:56Speaker 1: about the fifty three, Yes, here Abdullah he was, his
- 12:59Speaker 1: presence was felt, is what I will say. In game
- 13:01Speaker 1: one he got a sack, which you know, you want
- 13:03Speaker 1: to talk about the pass rush all day. Here's your guy.
- 13:05Speaker 1: He's coming in. He's got the moves. Jeff Logerman and
- 13:08Speaker 1: I were talking last week about he just feels like
- 13:10Speaker 1: Abdula has the sense, right, He just he knows what
- 13:13Speaker 1: he needs to do. He may not, you know, people
- 13:15Speaker 1: say he's undersize whatever it is, but he finds a way.
- 13:18Speaker 1: He's gonna make a movie. Fine, I'll do another move.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Like he's just prepared in that way and has a
- 13:23Speaker 1: way of finding being where he needs to be at
- 13:25Speaker 1: any given time.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll be talking about him later in the show. Ryan,
- 13:28Speaker 4: So I want, I mean a great take that I
- 13:30Speaker 4: had that I don't want to bring.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah, right now, like the fifty six, here's the other thing.
- 13:34Speaker 2: And look, the guy was a really good pass rusher
- 13:37Speaker 2: at Louisville. Yeah, he played the run really well the
- 13:39Speaker 2: other day too. You know, they had a guy around
- 13:41Speaker 2: here for years named Unique and Gokway who was a
- 13:44Speaker 2: terrific pass rusher. But he was two hundred and twenty
- 13:46Speaker 2: pounds and when he had to stop the run, he
- 13:50Speaker 2: was not a force. This guy is going to be
- 13:53Speaker 2: a force. He's broad and he's strong, and he's built
- 13:56Speaker 2: to play the run as well.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I sure hope he does, because at the point, we
- 14:00Speaker 1: need a pass rusher, and as we've discussed, that's a
- 14:03Speaker 1: need that they have. So they need to build it
- 14:04Speaker 1: from within because even at this point they haven't brought
- 14:07Speaker 1: in yet.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And he's not a liability. It's not like when he's
- 14:08Speaker 2: on the field, you're gona go okay, we're going right there,
- 14:11Speaker 2: not at all.
- 14:12Speaker 5: I think it's great.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Where else are We're gonna go okay, Now, we're gonna
- 14:16Speaker 1: go to the offensive line because you know, we have
- 14:18Speaker 1: to represent Baker County as we do. It's it's tugboat
- 14:21Speaker 1: time because not only do we personally like Cooper Hodges.
- 14:24Speaker 1: He was out there for a good portion of this
- 14:26Speaker 1: game and he looked good at points.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And he set that up for Deornis Johnson.
- 14:30Speaker 5: He did. He was he was all over the place.
- 14:32Speaker 1: You can see him getting coached up by his fellow
- 14:35Speaker 1: offensive lineman. And he's a big man, so when he
- 14:38Speaker 1: sets a block and he's hustling there too, so tugboat
- 14:42Speaker 1: does cartwheels.
- 14:43Speaker 5: There's there's really little that this man can't do.
- 14:46Speaker 1: John, When do you see him maybe making his way
- 14:48Speaker 1: into the lineup on the offensive lines the next season?
- 14:50Speaker 5: Maybe?
- 14:51Speaker 4: Well, I would think next season. There's some guys Brian
- 14:53Speaker 4: who as soon as they get drafted and as soon
- 14:57Speaker 4: as they're here, you start hearing it in the water,
- 15:01Speaker 4: meaning the people are talking about him. Hey, keep an
- 15:03Speaker 4: eye on this guy, and the momentum sort of never stops.
- 15:08Speaker 4: He was a guy the first couple of OTAs where
- 15:12Speaker 4: you looked at and said, Okay, this is a big body.
- 15:15Speaker 3: He can move behind it.
- 15:16Speaker 4: He takes the right approach, He works in the locker room,
- 15:21Speaker 4: he sort of gets it.
- 15:22Speaker 3: He's a mature kid.
- 15:24Speaker 4: You know. I know you're gonna talk about this later
- 15:27Speaker 4: as well. Everything you hear and see. Ind case, he'll
- 15:31Speaker 4: start next year without a doubt, you know. And we're
- 15:35Speaker 4: jumping the shark on this one, but you know, your
- 15:37Speaker 4: right guard, your five time Pro Bowl right guard, is
- 15:39Speaker 4: a twenty four million dollar cap figure next year.
- 15:41Speaker 2: So the Jaguars, you know, they need to be able
- 15:44Speaker 2: to plug this kid in and have him be the
- 15:47Speaker 2: long term fixture there. Maybe Sheriff has an amazing year
- 15:50Speaker 2: and they decide to redo his deal. I don't know,
- 15:53Speaker 2: but cap room is precious for this team going forward
- 15:55Speaker 2: because of the quarterback. So you need Hodges to be
- 15:57Speaker 2: that guy. It looks like he is. And on to
- 16:00Speaker 2: your point, he's making the move from four years starting
- 16:04Speaker 2: at right tackle to going inside. And you and I
- 16:07Speaker 2: were standing on the practice field talking to Trent Bulky
- 16:10Speaker 2: during OTAs and he came over and said that this
- 16:13Speaker 2: is a guy who's good every tool, that everything you
- 16:16Speaker 2: need mentally, physically, everything to be a long term starter
- 16:21Speaker 2: at guard. But he's got to do the work well.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Watching him pull, yeah, he's doing the work well. He
- 16:28Speaker 2: looks good.
- 16:29Speaker 4: And in this league you need you know, we all
- 16:32Speaker 4: spend all off season talking about the twenty two. Well,
- 16:38Speaker 4: once the season starts the twenty two, you need thirty five.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Ye.
- 16:42Speaker 4: And I think they're deep on the offensive line. They
- 16:46Speaker 4: showed last year they were good depth, and I think
- 16:48Speaker 4: they supplemented that and kept that same depth equation if
- 16:52Speaker 4: you will. With Harris and for Taylor, I don't see
- 16:59Speaker 4: seeing he reads by a week nine or ten if
- 17:02Speaker 4: you have an injury. I don't It feels like he's
- 17:05Speaker 4: moving toward a guy that they're not going to have
- 17:08Speaker 4: a lot of angst if he would have to come
- 17:10Speaker 4: into the lineup late this season.
- 17:11Speaker 2: No, and you've seen instability at left guard right because
- 17:14Speaker 2: Big BArch, who by the way, has just been elevated
- 17:16Speaker 2: from the puplace today. He'll be practicing and maybe playing
- 17:20Speaker 2: this week or next week against the Dolphins. So you've
- 17:23Speaker 2: got submissibility with Tyler Shatley who's had the aphib issue
- 17:27Speaker 2: and you're not sure you know when he's going to
- 17:29Speaker 2: be able to come back. So Hodges is one of
- 17:32Speaker 2: those guys that you know, if he's versatile, it can
- 17:35Speaker 2: play the left side, could be active on game day
- 17:39Speaker 2: as opposed to one of those scratches all season long.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And I would suspect by the time we get to
- 17:43Speaker 2: December he might be.
- 17:44Speaker 4: And my guess is the decision makers feel much much
- 17:47Speaker 4: better about that instability at guard knowing this kid's coming.
- 17:50Speaker 2: He's making this roster. There's no doubt, no doubt.
- 17:53Speaker 5: There for sure.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Elsewhere are we on to look, Let's do some pun
- 17:55Speaker 1: returns because we saw Parker Washington out there decent amount
- 17:58Speaker 1: obviously of agnew so he's on anywhere but Parker Washington
- 18:01Speaker 1: is a good, viable option, and we've seen him return
- 18:05Speaker 1: some kicks, return some punts, and work his way into
- 18:07Speaker 1: the offense a little bit as well. But you have
- 18:09Speaker 1: to imagine he's someone that they enjoy the versatility that
- 18:12Speaker 1: he brings to the game.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Two things. One, it takes courage to be a punt returner,
- 18:18Speaker 2: and you just don't know how a guy is going
- 18:20Speaker 2: to react in the NFL with all these guys bearing
- 18:23Speaker 2: down on him. He had no problem with it. And second,
- 18:25Speaker 2: watch him use his feet here to set up the defender.
- 18:27Speaker 2: We've talked about how good his feet have looked through
- 18:30Speaker 2: a training camp and he shows it right there.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Yeah, he's again a good piece to have if they
- 18:38Speaker 4: need a backup punt returner. And he feels like a
- 18:44Speaker 4: guy who is going to play his way by next
- 18:47Speaker 4: year into mattering in the receiving.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Group the mix for sure.
- 18:51Speaker 4: He just seems too fundamentally sound, too quick in the
- 18:54Speaker 4: right areas. I don't know if his high end is
- 18:58Speaker 4: Christian Kirk someday he's built similarly, but but he certainly
- 19:04Speaker 4: seems from an early early look like a guy who
- 19:07Speaker 4: can produce in the NFL minimum at.
- 19:09Speaker 2: A four or five. Kirk was the second round pick, right,
- 19:12Speaker 2: and and you see how smooth he is, but he's
- 19:15Speaker 2: he's this guy was drafted to be that guy, right,
- 19:18Speaker 2: to be that slot receiver who uses his feet to
- 19:22Speaker 2: gain separation in the middle of the field, and he'll
- 19:25Speaker 2: have a role. And I mean again, I think he's
- 19:27Speaker 2: on this roster. I think he's got one of the
- 19:28Speaker 2: six receiver spots.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Well.
- 19:29Speaker 4: From the first practice of ot AS when he was there,
- 19:35Speaker 4: he's never looked lost, never, and that's encouraging and I
- 19:40Speaker 4: needed it. Strange, you know, both from Penn State, but
- 19:44Speaker 4: they both looked like they belonged.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Very very quickly.
- 19:48Speaker 4: U usually guys that look like that bare minimum contribute
- 19:53Speaker 4: for you for a few years.
- 19:54Speaker 3: That's what you went out of the draft.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yep, he's in my mind locked up the fifth spot
- 19:58Speaker 1: on the wide receivers. And then I feel like the
- 19:59Speaker 1: six spot is the one that's kind of up for
- 20:01Speaker 1: grabs for people. And then finally we want to do
- 20:04Speaker 1: Chris Braswell's interception, because we did talk about the defense
- 20:07Speaker 1: and who needs to step up and kind of make
- 20:09Speaker 1: themselves known because there isn't a ton of depth in
- 20:11Speaker 1: the in the dB positions and and.
- 20:14Speaker 5: This was good to see it.
- 20:15Speaker 3: But they really really like this kid. Yeah, he's he's uh.
- 20:19Speaker 4: I think Doug talked about him on on on the
- 20:21Speaker 4: Zoom call this morning. His athleticism, he's and if Doug
- 20:27Speaker 4: said this or not, but it struck you when Doug
- 20:30Speaker 4: was talking, He's talking.
- 20:31Speaker 3: About a kid who knows how to play football.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Some guys are athletes and they and they're not natural players.
- 20:37Speaker 4: This kid, everything you hear, he has great instincts. He
- 20:40Speaker 4: can play. My sense is they think this guy, if
- 20:45Speaker 4: not this year, next year, is going to factor into
- 20:48Speaker 4: the five or six dvs are on the field.
- 20:49Speaker 2: And it's important to note that that interception came in
- 20:52Speaker 2: the fourth quarter after he had two penalties, right, the
- 20:55Speaker 2: one that took away the interception and another illegal contact.
- 20:59Speaker 2: So he was having a rough day, but he hung
- 21:01Speaker 2: in there, and that's what they want to see from
- 21:02Speaker 2: these kids. Can you hang in there? Can you overcome that?
- 21:05Speaker 2: And can you stay focused on the next play? As
- 21:08Speaker 2: a cornerback, you know they talk about the island all
- 21:10Speaker 2: the time. You're on that island, can you stay on it?
- 21:12Speaker 2: And he did and made a great play and.
- 21:14Speaker 4: He's still fighting through one of the first couple of
- 21:16Speaker 4: days of camp, he pulled up on a deep route.
- 21:17Speaker 4: He called that, Yeah, he was following somebody and it
- 21:21Speaker 4: looked like a hammy. I'm assuming he was a hammy.
- 21:23Speaker 4: So he's still sort of getting back to it. But again,
- 21:27Speaker 4: I know, Brian, he's gonna talk about it later. A
- 21:31Speaker 4: litany of rookies who were encouraging on Saturday, a lot.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Of good stuff.
- 21:35Speaker 1: We got our hot takes coming up after the break,
- 21:38Speaker 1: the hottest of hot takes after we've seen preseason game one.
- 21:41Speaker 5: So stay with us to find out what they are.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Moved the freight moved the freight.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Magellan Transport is voted the coolest office base in Jacksonville.
- 22:00Speaker 1: You can ply online at www dot Magellanlogistics dot com.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to Jags Am. We're here in the Hyundai
- 22:08Speaker 1: studios and we're gonna do hot takes. We got a
- 22:10Speaker 1: little game action, we got to see a little bit
- 22:12Speaker 1: of what the team might be bringing to the table.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So we're gonna start off with hot takes. Brian, I
- 22:16Speaker 1: will start with you today.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I think this has a chance to be the best
- 22:19Speaker 2: draft in Jaguars history. And here's why. Because I count
- 22:23Speaker 2: John eight guys who legitimately by the end of next
- 22:27Speaker 2: season could be starters, if not starters in the sense
- 22:31Speaker 2: really key players, right, Anton Harrison will be a starter.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I think Breton Strange is going to be a starter.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Tank Bigsby I think could be a starter, if not
- 22:39Speaker 2: a starter. He's one of those guys. He's gonna have
- 22:40Speaker 2: a lot of right, Yeah, right, Jackson, Ventrel Miller, Parker Washington,
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yasira Abdullah, Antonio Johnson, and I just added Christian Brasswell
- 22:50Speaker 2: on your recommendation. So that's eight of thirteen guys that
- 22:55Speaker 2: based on what we saw first two weeks of camp
- 22:59Speaker 2: and how they pay it off in Dallas. You can
- 23:01Speaker 2: look and go, yep, yep, yep, you could have eight
- 23:04Speaker 2: starters out of one draft. You get that. That's a
- 23:07Speaker 2: tremendous draft. That would be the most productive draft in
- 23:12Speaker 2: Jaguars history.
- 23:13Speaker 3: You have the best draft in Jaguars history.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty twenty one.
- 23:16Speaker 3: If he can trevor that one.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, I mean you know what I mean.
- 23:20Speaker 2: That's why I changed from best to preduc Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 3: It's I agree.
- 23:26Speaker 4: And even if all those guys didn't work out, because
- 23:28Speaker 4: I think a couple of them Ventrel Miller. You wonder
- 23:33Speaker 4: if with Lloyd and Muma inside there uh.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Looked on as a twenty three million dollar cap figure.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Coming up, right, But Lloyd and Muma could still well
- 23:44Speaker 4: But you mean starter, right, And I don't have any
- 23:50Speaker 4: doubt that everybody you mentioned will matter over the next
- 23:55Speaker 4: two or three years, whether it's starter with Parker Washington,
- 23:58Speaker 4: whether he's a starter, or or whether he's catching forty
- 24:01Speaker 4: for six sixty or you feel very good if somebody's
- 24:07Speaker 4: injured and he comes in, and that's what you need
- 24:09Speaker 4: at a draft, becial when you have thirteen. Clearly that's
- 24:12Speaker 4: what they wanted. They felt like they were not deep
- 24:14Speaker 4: enough and if they needed to get talent in here
- 24:18Speaker 4: for the next four years, there's a lot of confidence
- 24:21Speaker 4: they did. Tyler Lacy, who you didn't mention. I don't
- 24:25Speaker 4: know if he's ever a starter, right, be a role player,
- 24:28Speaker 4: but you need eight or nine.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Here's nine by Cooper Hodges. I forgot him on the list.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, there's I mean, this looks like the
- 24:37Speaker 2: most productive draft. It's got to play out, obviously, but
- 24:40Speaker 2: I would think by the end of twenty twenty four,
- 24:42Speaker 2: you could look at this draft and say There's never
- 24:44Speaker 2: been a draft that good. So hats off to Trent Bulky.
- 24:47Speaker 3: And he didn't mention my guy. You see her.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Abdula, Sure I did. Oh you did well?
- 24:53Speaker 4: That was my takeaway, and it's a hot take because
- 24:57Speaker 4: of this. I have no confidence in most rookies to
- 25:02Speaker 4: give you anything that will help you be a better
- 25:05Speaker 4: team in your rookie year. And I'm exaggerating that. I've
- 25:09Speaker 4: just seen so much where their learning and then the
- 25:11Speaker 4: next year they're just really good. This kid might be
- 25:16Speaker 4: able to give them some pass rush and some impact.
- 25:18Speaker 3: I think he's going to.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Start, but you need three or four guys who in
- 25:22Speaker 4: your packages can affect the quarterback. He was playing against
- 25:27Speaker 4: second team the other night. But as logs Is said,
- 25:30Speaker 4: often there's a natural element to that sometimes, and this
- 25:35Speaker 4: kid seems to have it. They knew in Indianapolis when
- 25:37Speaker 4: I was covering them that Robert Mathis, a fifth round
- 25:39Speaker 4: draft pick, had three and a half sacks as a
- 25:41Speaker 4: rookie in his second year. They all said, this kid
- 25:44Speaker 4: is going to be a pro bowler someday. And I
- 25:46Speaker 4: don't want to compare the du a bit of Mathis
- 25:48Speaker 4: because Mathis might go in the Hall someday, but there's
- 25:51Speaker 4: an element there of a young kid who bare minimum
- 25:55Speaker 4: can affect the pocket this.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Year, from the moment he stepped on the practice field,
- 25:59Speaker 2: you knew he belonged absolutely, And then that's high pricks,
- 26:03Speaker 2: especially from veteran football players. But talking to these guys,
- 26:06Speaker 2: they have all said that he belongs.
- 26:08Speaker 1: It's cool because now that we've entered that point of
- 26:10Speaker 1: where you have your base of your team already set,
- 26:12Speaker 1: they're drafting to develop as the term goes. But that
- 26:15Speaker 1: means you come in and you have a specific role
- 26:17Speaker 1: to fill. You're not coming in trying to be, you know,
- 26:20Speaker 1: dealing with what Trevor had to deal with him coming
- 26:21Speaker 1: in and being the man immediately. Not everybody can do
- 26:24Speaker 1: that or thrives in that environment. And there's a lot
- 26:26Speaker 1: of these people where Tanks coming in, he's going to
- 26:28Speaker 1: work with Travis. He's not just the guy we see
- 26:31Speaker 1: Brenton come in. He gets to learn from a great
- 26:33Speaker 1: tight end room. Anton Harrison has a loaded offensive line
- 26:36Speaker 1: that he's working with to help him every single day,
- 26:38Speaker 1: and he'll have a little more time to maybe get
- 26:40Speaker 1: up to size. I mean, he's a huge person to
- 26:42Speaker 1: be in with, so I say, get up to size,
- 26:43Speaker 1: but put on a little more bulk and then by
- 26:46Speaker 1: the time you know, second third year, he's going to
- 26:47Speaker 1: be even better.
- 26:48Speaker 4: So there have been way too many years where everybody
- 26:51Speaker 4: you mentioned Brian would have been starting.
- 26:54Speaker 5: And that's not the best development for a lot of people.
- 26:56Speaker 5: It really isn't.
- 26:57Speaker 1: So to be able to have that luxury at this
- 26:59Speaker 1: point point that really sets the team up to be
- 27:01Speaker 1: successful for many, many years to come, which is what
- 27:03Speaker 1: we want to talk about, where it's like, oh, this
- 27:05Speaker 1: team is not just going to be a one and
- 27:07Speaker 1: done situation. It's like we are building this to be
- 27:09Speaker 1: good for a very long time.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And just one more noteal quick. You mentioned Tyler Lacy
- 27:13Speaker 2: has a chance to play well. I talked to him
- 27:14Speaker 2: last week coming off the practice field. He looks gassed.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I don't whether he noticed it every day off the
- 27:18Speaker 2: practice field gassed. He's from Texas, Oklahoma State. I said,
- 27:20Speaker 2: it can't be the heat. He said no, he said,
- 27:22Speaker 2: I want to prove every play that I belong. I
- 27:25Speaker 2: feel like every play I have to find a way
- 27:28Speaker 2: to stay well. It's that kind of attitude, that kind
- 27:31Speaker 2: of approach gets your places.
- 27:33Speaker 4: He's a rare guy. And sow Is Hodges in the
- 27:35Speaker 4: sense that usually with rookie lineman and Anton Harrison fits
- 27:40Speaker 4: this a little bit. You can see where Anton in
- 27:43Speaker 4: a year in the weight room is going to look
- 27:46Speaker 4: more like Juwan Taylor did when he left and really
- 27:50Speaker 4: be one of the top offensive tab He's gonna be good.
- 27:53Speaker 4: But once he gets size and strength, his man's strength,
- 27:56Speaker 4: so to speak, he'll take you to a next level.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Look at Hodges and Lacey physically, they already look there
- 28:03Speaker 4: and most rookies don't look that way. So that's gonna
- 28:07Speaker 4: be interesting to watch these young linemen they brought in.
- 28:09Speaker 1: You guys went with the young guys. I'm gonna go
- 28:11Speaker 1: with someone a veteran presence on this team, going with
- 28:13Speaker 1: Christian Kirk.
- 28:14Speaker 5: That's my hot take. It's he is the lynch pin
- 28:16Speaker 5: for this offense. And I know we talk.
- 28:18Speaker 1: A ton about what Calvin is going to bring to
- 28:20Speaker 1: this team and Trevor's.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Development, all the other core that he has around him.
- 28:24Speaker 1: This ship is this is going to be successful if
- 28:26Speaker 1: as far as Christian Kirk can take it, because he
- 28:28Speaker 1: has become the person that Trevor trusts and he goes
- 28:32Speaker 1: to and feels he can throw it to no matter what.
- 28:34Speaker 1: And it's similar when we talked a little bit about
- 28:36Speaker 1: the Patriots earlier, how I felt Brady really worked with
- 28:39Speaker 1: Welker and then Edelman later on in his career. Yes,
- 28:43Speaker 1: he throws to Randy Moss who's got twenty plus touchdowns,
- 28:46Speaker 1: but Welker had the most targets and the most yards
- 28:49Speaker 1: in a lot of those seasons where they played together
- 28:52Speaker 1: because that was his safety guy. He knew, he trusted everything,
- 28:55Speaker 1: He knew everything about the mannerisms for Tom Brady. And
- 28:57Speaker 1: I feel like Christian Kirk has worked so much with
- 28:59Speaker 1: Trevor that he's really getting to that point where he
- 29:02Speaker 1: knows he can be where he needs to be. He
- 29:03Speaker 1: knows what Trevor's mannerisms are, where he prefers what he prefers,
- 29:06Speaker 1: And when you have that type of relationship with your quarterback,
- 29:09Speaker 1: that is invaluable, especially when you know people are doubling
- 29:13Speaker 1: up Calvin or that opens up the field for everybody else.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 4: I couldn't agree more. I think Christian's number one on
- 29:21Speaker 4: that list. It will probably take him a little while
- 29:25Speaker 4: to get it with Ridley because there just has to
- 29:27Speaker 4: be some game stuff where you just trust what's going
- 29:30Speaker 4: to be there. But I have no doubt watching Calvin
- 29:32Speaker 4: it's going to be there. The intriguing thing is, you
- 29:37Speaker 4: do feel like Trevor right now has at least four
- 29:40Speaker 4: guys who are primary weapons who can beat single coverage,
- 29:45Speaker 4: who he's completely comfortable throwing to. Jimmy and Keenan still
- 29:50Speaker 4: remain the best two wide receivers tandem in franchise history.
- 29:54Speaker 4: They didn't have three and four like this. This is
- 29:56Speaker 4: this is this is intriguing.
- 29:59Speaker 2: I wasn't all that Christian Kirk was the guy who
- 30:01Speaker 2: got free as Trevor was so patient in the pocket
- 30:05Speaker 2: and made that beautiful throw. I would agree that he
- 30:08Speaker 2: is one A. In terms of connection, I would say
- 30:12Speaker 2: Evan Ingram is one bee. I mean just a hair
- 30:14Speaker 2: behind him. Watching them on the practice field and the
- 30:17Speaker 2: way that they work. So he's got guys that he
- 30:20Speaker 2: has connections within Zay, but he got Zay in the
- 30:23Speaker 2: back of the end zone too. He won't take long
- 30:25Speaker 2: on Ridley. That's what makes me so optimistic. And I
- 30:29Speaker 2: even think about an interception. The relationship he has with
- 30:32Speaker 2: these guys, the connection he has with these guys, find
- 30:34Speaker 2: another quarterback in the league, maybe outside of my homes,
- 30:38Speaker 2: maybe Burrow in Cincinnati that has this many targets that
- 30:41Speaker 2: he's connected to so strongly.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Yeah, you mentioned Za, and I know we'll get out
- 30:45Speaker 4: of this segment. To me, Zay's had the quietest, really
- 30:50Speaker 4: really solid camp going every day. When I look at
- 30:53Speaker 4: my notes, he's had two or three catches fifteen to
- 30:55Speaker 4: twenty yards. The trust there a donut, you know, I
- 30:59Speaker 4: don't know if you have a yards and he'll have
- 31:01Speaker 4: ten touchdowns. What you know about Zay, He'll have at
- 31:05Speaker 4: least five catches that you remember at the end of
- 31:08Speaker 4: the season for touchdowns where you say, Okay, that got
- 31:11Speaker 4: him the game, and he had about that.
- 31:13Speaker 2: So there's a lot of.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Weapons that matter that make you better on offense.
- 31:19Speaker 5: Can't wait to see.
- 31:20Speaker 1: It all come together, all right, say with us, we're
- 31:23Speaker 1: gonna preview what we got going on the rest of
- 31:24Speaker 1: the week. We had to Detroit and let you know
- 31:26Speaker 1: all about that after the break. Jags fans, if you
- 31:39Speaker 1: want customized Jaguarts furniture for your home, you can check
- 31:41Speaker 1: out zipchair dot com to browse all customizable options.
- 31:44Speaker 5: Zipchair is furniture.
- 31:46Speaker 1: For fans, and we talked a little bit about that
- 31:49Speaker 1: Nathan Rourke play. You know, he's falling down, he gets
- 31:52Speaker 1: the touchdown. They played it in the stadium for his
- 31:54Speaker 1: old team during their game. Of course, his teammates where
- 31:57Speaker 1: he played in the CFL last season, and then obviously
- 32:00Speaker 1: they were very excited to see their teammate doing so
- 32:03Speaker 1: well here in pre season and hopefully making a name
- 32:06Speaker 1: for himself.
- 32:06Speaker 5: But pretty cool to see there.
- 32:08Speaker 1: And hopefully we'll see a little bit more of work
- 32:10Speaker 1: when we head to Detroit this week because we're doing
- 32:12Speaker 1: joint practice for the couple days this week and then
- 32:15Speaker 1: they're playing the Lions on Saturday. So what do you
- 32:18Speaker 1: guys enjoy most about kind of joint practice? Is it
- 32:21Speaker 1: just seeing new people, seeing your team go up against
- 32:24Speaker 1: some different players.
- 32:25Speaker 2: I like validating opinions, right, I mean, because you can
- 32:28Speaker 2: see Calvin Ridley line up against I don't choose a
- 32:33Speaker 2: young cornerback and think, well, Calvin really is having the
- 32:36Speaker 2: best camp possible. Right now, You're gonna go line up
- 32:39Speaker 2: against the ones in Detroit. Okay, let's see you do it.
- 32:41Speaker 5: What's going to look like?
- 32:42Speaker 2: I fully anticipate that he will, but it validates opinions.
- 32:44Speaker 2: If Gregory Junior goes up and has a big day
- 32:46Speaker 2: on the practice field. Yep, okay, he's making the progress.
- 32:50Speaker 4: And it's a week where the reps between ones during
- 32:56Speaker 4: practice a matter is my which is what the fans
- 33:00Speaker 4: will see during the game. Like there's a chance some
- 33:03Speaker 4: starters may play less on Saturday because of the because
- 33:06Speaker 4: they feel like they've got the reps.
- 33:07Speaker 3: And Doug alluded to it a little bit.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I don't put words in his mouth, but that there
- 33:12Speaker 4: could be some younger guys, the greg junior level player
- 33:16Speaker 4: who's not necessarily a starter, who they could want to
- 33:19Speaker 4: get reps against ones to give them that experience. This
- 33:23Speaker 4: is the meat time of this process.
- 33:25Speaker 2: So Bucky and I get to sit with the coach
- 33:28Speaker 2: and some players the night before the game as we're
- 33:31Speaker 2: doing our preseason production meetings, and we had a long
- 33:33Speaker 2: conversation with Doug about the value of these matchups, and
- 33:38Speaker 2: he said that every rep on the practice field is
- 33:42Speaker 2: as valuable as any rep in a game in the preseason.
- 33:46Speaker 1: That's saying something I think it is and I think
- 33:48Speaker 1: we'll see a lot of that, and it's just exciting
- 33:50Speaker 1: to see the competitive nature of it. You know, you're
- 33:52Speaker 1: not going against your own team, so it'll a lit'll
- 33:54Speaker 1: be a little bit different out there. We're going to
- 33:55Speaker 1: be live for jags AM on Wednesday and Thursday at
- 33:58Speaker 1: Detroit's training camp and hopefully a little bit cooler there,
- 34:01Speaker 1: so we'll be outside and.
- 34:02Speaker 2: A lot cooler there.
- 34:03Speaker 5: I'm looking forward to. Please join us on Wednesday and Thursday.
- 34:07Speaker 5: We will see you then.
- 34:08Speaker 1: As for until then, have a good one.
