  And we're very excited to make this our Global Engineering

  headquarters in California applaud everybody.

  There's a A lot to be excited about.

  What I preach. I mean you know where I were
• 4:01
  talking about obviously the symbolism but also the substance
• 4:05
  that's reflected in an event like this and a day like this.

  But also I think the relevance the world we're living in.

  And you know what defines a trend lines of the world and
• 4:13
  house, California particular State, you know that Prides
• 4:17
  itself on being on the leading and cutting edge of Discovery
• 4:20
  and new ideas and Innovation. How do we take advantage of
• 4:23
  those trend lines and said it for decades now?
• 4:26
  And we first met quite literally a few decades ago For those
• 4:30
  first cars rolling off the line, that if you want to be big, big,
• 4:33
  big and big things, and the opportunity to transform the
• 4:36
  automobile industry, to lead the world, not just this nation to
• 4:41
  lead the state. In this extraordinary Journey,

  we've been on over the last 20 years to be now, the dominant
• 4:48
  manufacturer in the dominant manufacturing State people
• 4:51
  forget that. California is the largest
• 4:54
  manufacturing state in the United States now, the fourth
• 4:57
  largest economy in the world. World your heart out, Germany
• 5:02
  and a state of remarkable resiliency, some point, eight
• 5:05
  percent GDP growth. A year ago, 2.9 last year
• 5:08
  outperforming the rest of the nation a performance, some of
• 5:11
  these competitive States and in so many ways.

  I recognized the world we invented is now competing
• 5:18
  against us and you can't rest on your laurels.

  You got to step up your game and you got invest in your growth
• 5:23
  engines. And I couldn't be more proud of
• 5:25
  California's commitment, to support Tesla over the Of the
• 5:29
  last few decades. It's demonstrable in terms of
• 5:32
  policy in terms of Direction More broadly and interesting
• 5:38
  regulation. There is a for all its good and
• 5:43
  evil depending on which side of it, you're on.
• 5:45
  But the regulatory framework, accelerated investment
• 5:50
  accelerated with some certainty that this was the direction we
• 5:53
  were going and as a consequence of the California air resources
• 5:57
  board and the Investments We have made over the course of

  years. We're able to lay claim now, 244

  manufacturing headquarter companies in the electric
• 6:06
  vehicle space but none that dominate like Tesla and so it's

  a point of Pride always has been for me.

  That Tesla is a California company started here.

  First we say about our state the future happens here first, we're
• 6:21
  America's Coming Attraction. Yeah.

  In fact, you were one of the first people to buy a Tesla
• 6:26
  Roadster back in the day. I You saying, we're just talking
• 6:30
  about that. I told them he had my money for
• 6:33
  a long while with that, that good.

  That was it by the way, that was a healthy deposit.

  You had to make, you know, trust me.

  It was like, I was an undergrad, I think?

  net worth back. Then, 12 years ago, I think mine

  got a pension, so, your heart out, Uh, yeah, so you're not to

  worry, but I look I'm grateful. It's, as I said, it's been a

  hell of a journey and to see the engineer look and I'll just

  close on this because it's important.

  It's not surprising to me, but I don't take it for granted.

  So I'm grateful that the world headquarters for engineering,
• 7:18
  for AI for pushing out. The boundaries is here in
• 7:21
  California. We have more scientists
• 7:22
  engineers, more researchers, no more mobile.
• 7:24
  More Nobel, laureates more patents.
• 7:27
  Still more venture capital Interstate in the nation.
• 7:30
  I think that's again what separates our game from the game
• 7:33
  played. So many other parts of the globe
• 7:36
  and so your huge part of that success, Our Success, California
• 7:40
  America's success. And I'm here because we don't
• 7:44
  take that for granted and we appreciate the investment you're
• 7:48
  making here today and you mentioned manufacturing and it's
• 7:51
  worth noting that Fremont May factoring plant is the highest
• 7:55
  output Automotive plants in North America.
• 7:58
  So it's a probably do about six hundred thousand or more cars
• 8:02
  this year thanksgivings go. Well and so that's it to your
• 8:07
  point Cal Poly is tremendous and a factor as well as a place of
• 8:12
  engineering and Innovation. Yeah, which is again often.

  So lost. We also have more hunting jobs
• 8:19
  and more fishing jobs and more for Steve Jobs.

  I'm not just the big stage. Yeah, I'm just saying I mean
• 8:24
  these are things most folks don't connect in terms of the
• 8:27
  dots to the The state. And we're also the most diverse
• 8:30
  state in the world's, most diverse democracy and I think
• 8:32
  pluralism matters and I think that's one of the reasons we get
• 8:35
  first-round, draft choices around the rest of the world.
• 8:37
  So again this is called a California promotion at least my
• 8:43
  rhetoric but it's also California pride.
• 8:47
  And I say that as a guy grew up here and those that count us out
• 8:52
  those that think our best days are behind us.
• 8:55
  I've been hearing that my entire life half a century.
• 8:59
  And I think today is just another proof point of the
• 9:02
  renewal, and the energy, and the vibrancy.

  That is California. And again, takes Visionary,
• 9:09
  leaders takes guts to encourage, takes risks, and taking, and,
• 9:15
  and it takes, it takes partnership.

  So, I'm appreciative of you and appreciative of our Partnership
