Tijana Tucic knows this truth intimately. Born in Yugoslavia in 1977, she survived sexual abuse at age 12, lived through war, poverty, and a destructive family environment . She grew up in a house made of hay and mud, lived for years without electricity during the war, and did not have a bathroom for 37 years . She married a drug addict at 21 to escape her father, divorced when her daughter was one and a half, and returned to an abusive home . She experienced depression and dropped below 38 kilograms .
