Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So welcome to Heavy mag Yeah, thank you.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I told you.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Yeah, the The Elusive Paradise Loss is your band. So
- 0:09Speaker 3: you guys have been doing your thing for a little
- 0:11Speaker 3: bit now, it's been a while, but been even longer
- 0:15Speaker 3: since you've been down under. You've got a tour that's
- 0:17Speaker 3: about to happen. Yeah, tell us about that.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's I don't know, is it ten
- 0:24Speaker 2: years since we've been to us. I'm not sure.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Yeah, close to a decade, Yeah, yeah.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Something like that. Yeah, So we were very excited when
- 0:33Speaker 2: we've heard that we've been asked again, and it was
- 0:36Speaker 2: we were able to do it because, as you know,
- 0:39Speaker 2: coming from the other side of the world, it's the logistical.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Thing, absolutely holding.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and then we heard the Draconian we're doing it
- 0:48Speaker 2: with us as well, which we I mean, we like
- 0:51Speaker 2: the band and we've never really played with them, you know,
- 0:53Speaker 2: so it was that's gonna be a good opportunity. I've
- 0:56Speaker 2: just stirred a bit of their new album and I
- 0:57Speaker 2: think it really sounds really great, so yeah, should should
- 1:01Speaker 2: be really good, I think. And we'll still be promoting Ascension,
- 1:04Speaker 2: our last record, so yeah, the set will be covering
- 1:09Speaker 2: as much of our career as possible, but we'll still
- 1:11Speaker 2: be promoting some stuff from Ascension as well.
- 1:14Speaker 3: In Yeah, because that was your most recent album, wasn't
- 1:16Speaker 3: it That I did quite well? And the O the
- 1:19Speaker 3: tour off the back of that. So yeah, you've and yourself,
- 1:23Speaker 3: you've taken on a bit of another role with Ben,
- 1:27Speaker 3: haven't you. Not just doing the songwriting and being a musician.
- 1:29Speaker 3: You're in part of the producing I believe, Is that right?
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. I mean it's kind of something I've
- 1:38Speaker 2: sort of been doing for quite a while anyway. But
- 1:45Speaker 2: I think committing to putting your name on as producer
- 1:50Speaker 2: is puts you in the firing line more with the band,
- 1:54Speaker 2: with the label and with the fans, I guess. But ultimately,
- 1:59Speaker 2: if something goes wrong in the recording, you're in the
- 2:03Speaker 2: firing line. That's the main difference. It's not much of
- 2:07Speaker 2: a difference because for the last I don't know how
- 2:10Speaker 2: long it's been, a producer for us has just been
- 2:13Speaker 2: the middle man, you know, more more or less an engineer. Yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 2: you know, I've known out to get the sounds, I've
- 2:20Speaker 2: known what sounds to get, so it's like we just
- 2:23Speaker 2: took the middle man out this time really.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And that's the think of the productions.
- 2:27Speaker 3: There's you know, so many different levels of you know
- 2:29Speaker 3: how involved in what kind of producing you know you
- 2:31Speaker 3: have one doing. If you know you're yourself, you've been
- 2:34Speaker 3: doing it for some time now, you can able to
- 2:36Speaker 3: take on that and do it for yourselves, which is
- 2:39Speaker 3: you know, always a good thing. I guess, you know,
- 2:41Speaker 3: productively and you know creatively I guess as well.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Less fingers in the pie.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, No, you're right. I mean sometimes a producer can
- 2:52Speaker 2: be a good thing though, especially if you're feeling a
- 2:54Speaker 2: little directionless, or you need an extra set of ears,
- 2:58Speaker 2: you need an outside point of view. I just didn't
- 3:02Speaker 2: think we needed at this time. We had a very
- 3:03Speaker 2: clear vision of what we wanted and knew how to
- 3:06Speaker 2: get the sound, so you know, I don't really need anyway.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Nice and So with your tracks that with the album Ascension,
- 3:14Speaker 3: were they ones that you had written over time or
- 3:16Speaker 3: was that something you sat down, you know, to write
- 3:19Speaker 3: for the album or was it a mixture of both.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Well, it's kind of not convoluted, but it was over time,
- 3:29Speaker 2: so I kind of sat down to write the album twice.
- 3:32Speaker 2: It didn't too well the first time. I think I
- 3:36Speaker 2: wrote about seven, seven or eight songs of course of
- 3:40Speaker 2: a couple of years, and then I just decided I
- 3:45Speaker 2: didn't like any of it, and I didn't a direction
- 3:48Speaker 2: it was headed, and it didn't feel right. So scrapped
- 3:52Speaker 2: the whole thing and took some time out, and we
- 3:56Speaker 2: went and did we have an album called Icon from
- 3:58Speaker 2: ninety three I believe. Yeah, we went and did some
- 4:03Speaker 2: shows as like a celebrating that album because it was
- 4:09Speaker 2: I don't know how many.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Years since it was anniversary.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so we did. We did that, and then
- 4:14Speaker 2: when we came back from that, it kind of clicked.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I thought, all right, I want to capture not the
- 4:21Speaker 2: sound of that time, but I want to capture the
- 4:25Speaker 2: feeling that we had around that time. Yeah, you know,
- 4:28Speaker 2: your record, but without treading too much old ground. So
- 4:33Speaker 2: it was so it gave me more of a do it.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Doing the album again, learning it again and playing it
- 4:41Speaker 2: again really gave me a clear vision of what I
- 4:45Speaker 2: should do for Ascension, I guess.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so it was sort of the driving force or
- 4:51Speaker 3: the inspiration I guess for where the album finally got
- 4:55Speaker 3: you at.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it got me out of my a word.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, sometimes it give bees like that, though it doesn't
- 5:04Speaker 3: when you're trying to you know, create and write, and
- 5:06Speaker 3: it's when you get that blanket just you know, sometimes
- 5:09Speaker 3: it is it's just a matter of getting down and
- 5:11Speaker 3: doing it. But sometimes if it's not there and it
- 5:12Speaker 3: just doesn't feel right, then you're just it's a whole
- 5:15Speaker 3: bunch of junk that you just like you say, you're
- 5:16Speaker 3: just not happy with.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Then you just think, what a waste of time.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And I've never really out full on writer's block before. Yeah,
- 5:25Speaker 2: and I've had dry periods or whatever, but this was
- 5:30Speaker 2: this was this was a full on I don't know
- 5:33Speaker 2: what to do now? Yeah wow, until that moment, until
- 5:36Speaker 2: we toured that record.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's interesting.
- 5:40Speaker 3: You know, you might do a little bit walk away,
- 5:42Speaker 3: come back and but yeah, when you've when you've got
- 5:45Speaker 3: nothing and need to keep coming up empty, it's yeah,
- 5:48Speaker 3: it can either make some people or break some people.
- 5:50Speaker 3: But you know, I guess the good thing is is
- 5:52Speaker 3: you guys come back and I've got a whole fresh
- 5:53Speaker 3: album off the back of it, which is always test
- 5:56Speaker 3: of measurement that you're good at what you do for sure.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Well, I mean it took it took time. I mean
- 6:01Speaker 2: it think it was fun for years between records, which
- 6:04Speaker 2: is taken, but I kind of liked that. Yeah, because
- 6:10Speaker 2: for a band going as long as us, I don't
- 6:12Speaker 2: see the point in churning out albums every you know,
- 6:16Speaker 2: too regularly. Yeah, because you know, you've got something that
- 6:21Speaker 2: really really stirs it up a little bit, or you've
- 6:24Speaker 2: got something to say, because otherwise you're kind of not
- 6:27Speaker 2: being relevant, you know.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's just you know, mass producing for the
- 6:31Speaker 3: sake of putting it out there. And you know it's
- 6:33Speaker 3: also you know, it leaves your fans as well, you know,
- 6:35Speaker 3: wanting more and if they're hanging on to, like, you know,
- 6:37Speaker 3: an album that's not been you know, you're listing the
- 6:40Speaker 3: last one it's been some time. I think it it
- 6:42Speaker 3: comes with a bigger impact in Yeah, and that relevancy
- 6:46Speaker 3: as well, you know, because a lot changes in you know,
- 6:47Speaker 3: five years. And sorry, like it doesn't sound like a
- 6:50Speaker 3: long time, but it really a lot can happen.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I'm sure you your entire life can change in five
- 6:55Speaker 2: years outlook.
- 6:56Speaker 3: On life, yeah, yeah, yeah, and then you look back
- 6:59Speaker 3: and five year periods it's like, wow, yeah, a lot
- 7:02Speaker 3: has changed.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Myself in those increments.
- 7:05Speaker 3: But yeah, like you say, especially you know if it's
- 7:08Speaker 3: been ten year since you've been down under too, So
- 7:10Speaker 3: you've got faithful fans down here are absolutely frothing to
- 7:13Speaker 3: see you guys come out, So that's going to be exciting.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Do you when do you do the land? When is
- 7:18Speaker 1: that kicking off yourselves?
- 7:22Speaker 2: What the tour? Yeah, yeah, that's that's another good question.
- 7:28Speaker 1: One I probably should know myself.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I haven't all my notes, have my itinery.
- 7:37Speaker 1: You probably avoided knowing because it's such a long flight
- 7:39Speaker 1: that you have to deal with.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Well, No, we're actually doing we're doing a couple of
- 7:44Speaker 2: places we haven't done before on the way, So we're
- 7:46Speaker 2: doing India and China on the way.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Oh that'll be fun, Japan again.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So yeah, we end up in I think we starting
- 7:56Speaker 2: Brisbane nice eighteenth oftber.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Okay, nice, that gives us something to look forward to.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're doing Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Excellent, excellent. Yeah. Nice.
- 8:12Speaker 3: So that's the Is it just three main shows? Are
- 8:15Speaker 3: we doing a couple in each city? Was it just
- 8:17Speaker 3: a three?
- 8:19Speaker 2: That's just don't take my word for it, but you
- 8:23Speaker 2: never know.
- 8:24Speaker 3: The mind added another one on the bill yet before,
- 8:26Speaker 3: you know, we've done that before.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I was actually we turned up and this was quite
- 8:31Speaker 2: a few years ago. Yeah, we thought we were doing
- 8:34Speaker 2: one short. It turned out we were doing a matinee
- 8:35Speaker 2: show as well.
- 8:38Speaker 1: That sometimes it's like you can come out as daytime.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Still, I've never done it before and I was quite
- 8:47Speaker 2: surprised by it. Was really cool, you know.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, something different for sure. So yeah, you've
- 8:53Speaker 3: you guys, as you said, been doing it for some
- 8:55Speaker 3: time now and you're the band aim itself. Paradise Lost
- 8:59Speaker 3: its tend to be corrected, but I believe it's an
- 9:02Speaker 3: old English poland that derivative from there's a.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Cover of my head.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I can't remember the actual name of the pope, my bad,
- 9:11Speaker 3: but tell me a bit more about that.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's to do with in.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Line with your gothic, dark sort of roots that you've
- 9:17Speaker 3: the whole vibe that you have for the band itself.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Is it inspiration from that or where does the alignment
- 9:24Speaker 3: come from?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Well, we started in the UK scene in sort of
- 9:29Speaker 2: the mid to late eighties, okay, and at that time
- 9:34Speaker 2: the bands that we were friends with and playing with
- 9:37Speaker 2: and we came up with were like both or on
- 9:39Speaker 2: their palm death and carcass and and that's what we
- 9:43Speaker 2: played with every week and stuff, and we were all
- 9:46Speaker 2: kind of tape trading together and they have names like,
- 9:51Speaker 2: you know, carcass and bolts. We were playing, we were
- 9:56Speaker 2: playing slow and everyone else was playing as fast as possible.
- 10:02Speaker 2: We just felt like we needed a name that kind
- 10:04Speaker 2: of you know, it was a contradiction to that. It
- 10:07Speaker 2: was it was separate from all the death and the carcasses.
- 10:10Speaker 4: And yeah, so Nick Nick our singing, he was he
- 10:17Speaker 4: was trying to read the book Paradise Lost by John
- 10:20Speaker 4: Milton at the time.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I don't think many people have it. It's like an
- 10:25Speaker 2: epic poem.
- 10:26Speaker 1: It's really yes, from the old English literature.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we just thought, yeah, that's a that's
- 10:33Speaker 2: a really cool name. No one's used it yet. And
- 10:38Speaker 2: these nice connotations of you know, about life and death
- 10:44Speaker 2: and and little religious connotations. We've always had this kind
- 10:49Speaker 2: of use this iconography and stuff as well. He was religious.
- 10:56Speaker 2: We're not at all, you know, i'd say, for the
- 10:58Speaker 2: most part, role the etheist or agnostics. But yeah, but
- 11:04Speaker 2: it's a very it's an interesting subject. The iconography is endless,
- 11:11Speaker 2: you know, so it's something that we gravitate towards in
- 11:15Speaker 2: our early days and we've kept it's kept with us.
- 11:17Speaker 3: You know, yeah, and well it certainly worked for yourselves,
- 11:19Speaker 3: which is good to say. And like you say, you
- 11:21Speaker 3: know that possibly is endless when you're sort of using
- 11:24Speaker 3: that as you drive and inspiration with the medieval.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And the like said that, the light and the.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Dark and the good and the bad, and can those
- 11:33Speaker 3: old Christianity images that come to mind, and you think,
- 11:38Speaker 3: you know, if you know visually obviously you know, I'm
- 11:40Speaker 3: sure you your music and lyrics probably aren't that aligned
- 11:44Speaker 3: with that.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Or where for.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Yourself, what kind of topics you know, do you find
- 11:48Speaker 3: yourself writing about or loosely relating to, Well.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Lyrically, it's kind of a mixed bag because it can
- 11:57Speaker 2: be anything that affects you day to day to something
- 11:59Speaker 2: that big life events, you know, grief and et cetera,
- 12:07Speaker 2: just questioning life and death things like that.
- 12:10Speaker 5: But we usually do it in a very in a
- 12:19Speaker 5: way where it's using euphemisms and things like that, so
- 12:21Speaker 5: it doesn't really it's not really obvious what we're talking about.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yes, because to us, I mean the kind of stuff
- 12:28Speaker 2: that we liked when we were growing up. It's cool
- 12:33Speaker 2: even even in film, you know, film, music, whatever, books,
- 12:37Speaker 2: when you have a certain amount of work to do yourself.
- 12:39Speaker 1: You interpret.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yeah, so we've always kind of tried to do that.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I totally agree. And you know, I'm being
- 12:47Speaker 1: a writer myself.
- 12:47Speaker 3: That's my background, you know, the creative writing that's formally
- 12:51Speaker 3: educated in. And you know they say that once that
- 12:54Speaker 3: the old English canonism of literature, and you know, the
- 12:57Speaker 3: author was like, you know, the main you know, that
- 12:59Speaker 3: was where you know, we just if you dissect, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 3: something and you start to look at the things of it,
- 13:05Speaker 3: you know it's all about them, but you know that
- 13:07Speaker 3: the truth the modern way is that once you've written
- 13:11Speaker 3: it and it's created, you hand it out to your
- 13:13Speaker 3: audience and it takes the life of its own, and
- 13:15Speaker 3: you know, everyone's got such different meanings and what they
- 13:19Speaker 3: find from it, and it just I think, you know,
- 13:21Speaker 3: it gives your work so much more life and possibilities,
- 13:23Speaker 3: and it's always interesting to hear how each people you
- 13:26Speaker 3: interpret that and look at it, which brings to yourself,
- 13:29Speaker 3: you know, where as already you know a creator, you're
- 13:31Speaker 3: always you know, learning from that, which is a kind
- 13:33Speaker 3: of a nice way to to be inspired even further.
- 13:36Speaker 1: But yeah, it's you, definitely, definitely.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I mean I think everyone obviously, everyone has their own
- 13:43Speaker 2: viewpoint and everything because you can only you can only
- 13:46Speaker 2: see from your own perspective. So yeah, I've never really
- 13:51Speaker 2: been into stuff where it's a definite, concrete subject or
- 13:55Speaker 2: you're telling something in a certain way that's too literal
- 14:00Speaker 2: because because you're going to see it differently anyway, or
- 14:05Speaker 2: whoever see it differently anyway.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not a black and white world we live in,
- 14:08Speaker 1: so to speak.
- 14:09Speaker 2: So yeah, so we always thought it was better to
- 14:13Speaker 2: try and do things a little more a little less literal,
- 14:16Speaker 2: so that people can, yeah, their own assumptions about it,
- 14:21Speaker 2: you know.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no, that's it works and it's good. So yeah, you've,
- 14:26Speaker 3: as I said, you've got the tour coming up, and
- 14:28Speaker 3: it's going to be off the back of your most
- 14:30Speaker 3: recent album. We have a little thing here at have
- 14:33Speaker 3: you relate to ask our artists? Do you recall when
- 14:36Speaker 3: you first heard yourself on the radio for the first
- 14:38Speaker 3: time and how long ago was that? Do you remember
- 14:42Speaker 3: the moment in time that it occurred.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Radio I never really listened to the radio because there
- 14:49Speaker 2: was never really much outlet in the UK apart from
- 14:52Speaker 2: we had two shows. We had the Friday Rock Show
- 14:55Speaker 2: and we had another one account what the horm was.
- 14:57Speaker 2: But you have where to late at night on a
- 14:59Speaker 2: Friday to listen to it, and you'd sit there with
- 15:01Speaker 2: your turp.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Recorder and two make sure you got on the right spot.
- 15:05Speaker 2: In the rock. It was actually that it was Friday
- 15:09Speaker 2: Rock Shaw or it could have even been a Peel
- 15:11Speaker 2: session because we did a peel session on a Friday
- 15:13Speaker 2: Rocks Shoal session very early days. So yeah, it was
- 15:17Speaker 2: probably one of those two. But like I said, you
- 15:21Speaker 2: could only hear it if you were an avid rocker
- 15:26Speaker 2: hours to hear these things, you know.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I know that's some I think that's you know,
- 15:32Speaker 3: a pretty you know, in general, felt a lot of
- 15:34Speaker 3: you know, your alternative music. If you I remember myself,
- 15:37Speaker 3: I here, we haven't had the music show rage and
- 15:40Speaker 3: so all the really good stuff would be on, you know,
- 15:41Speaker 3: anytime after midnight between six am and then the Top
- 15:45Speaker 3: twenty or Top one hundred came on. But yeah, it's
- 15:47Speaker 3: always when the cool stuff was played and you sit
- 15:50Speaker 3: there with the tape recorder and make sure you didn't
- 15:52Speaker 3: get any ads in between. I think it's definitely a
- 15:57Speaker 3: significant part of our culture growing up when we go.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got I've got two kids as well, and
- 16:03Speaker 2: they're not obviously not kids anymore. I mean, my daughter's
- 16:06Speaker 2: never been interested really in what I do. Some one's
- 16:10Speaker 2: kind of easy in the business now, he books bands.
- 16:15Speaker 2: He was always interested in that type of thing, so
- 16:18Speaker 2: from an earlierge he was trying to find out about
- 16:20Speaker 2: cassettes and vinyl and things like that. Yeah, Yeah, it
- 16:26Speaker 2: wasn't through pushing. It's just kids gravitate to whatever they
- 16:29Speaker 2: gravitate to.
- 16:29Speaker 3: They do, they certainly do. Yeah, the curiosity just going
- 16:33Speaker 3: to feed it. But but yeah, so yeah, the vinyl
- 16:35Speaker 3: revival is always it's been a great thing to see
- 16:37Speaker 3: coming back. It's given artist, you know, that extra edge
- 16:40Speaker 3: to with, you know, the light of the streaming platforms
- 16:43Speaker 3: that's rubbed everyone of all the good stuff. It's it's
- 16:46Speaker 3: quite healthy. Yeah, have you guys, have you guys put
- 16:49Speaker 3: on out any vinyl back recently? Are you thinking of
- 16:52Speaker 3: doing that?
- 16:53Speaker 2: We We always do vinyl and always do it, you know,
- 16:59Speaker 2: as many kind of interesting versions of it as we can,
- 17:03Speaker 2: because that's kind of a rock bands lifeline these days
- 17:09Speaker 2: with the streaming thing not I mean streaming, streaming is
- 17:12Speaker 2: not it's not bad, but it's well documented how little
- 17:17Speaker 2: bands get from what the platforms make, you know. So
- 17:23Speaker 2: so physical product has always been the you know, the
- 17:29Speaker 2: bands kind of bread and butter. I suppose even yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 2: from when we started, so when Vinyl went out and
- 17:36Speaker 2: see these came in, all that happened, and then Vinyl
- 17:38Speaker 2: came back, you know, and it's kind of it's interesting
- 17:42Speaker 2: for us to see that whole cycle go around again.
- 17:46Speaker 2: But but yeah, it's it's invaluable to a lot of
- 17:49Speaker 2: bands because and being you know, when you're into music
- 17:53Speaker 2: in the way that we were or we are, you
- 17:57Speaker 2: want this physical product, you know, you want it's something
- 18:00Speaker 2: to sit and look at it. You know. I used
- 18:03Speaker 2: to get records and I sit and cover and wonder
- 18:05Speaker 2: what the bands were, like, what the guy in the picture.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Was like, Yeah, yeah, they'd take out the sto.
- 18:12Speaker 2: That kind of died off a lot with the I.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Mean, it's the first thing I would do is rip
- 18:17Speaker 3: out the inserts and like have a look at all
- 18:19Speaker 3: the photos and read the lyrics. And it was a
- 18:21Speaker 3: really it was a big part of the experience of
- 18:24Speaker 3: an album and even the smell of it, you know,
- 18:27Speaker 3: like it's shiny, glossy paper that comes out, and yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 3: that physical aspect. I think it's nice to see it
- 18:33Speaker 3: coming back because yeah, for myself and I'm sure many others,
- 18:36Speaker 3: it's it's what it's all about. You don't kind of
- 18:39Speaker 3: get the same experience looking at something on your your
- 18:43Speaker 3: phone or your tablet or whatever it may be.
- 18:44Speaker 1: It's just not the same. But yeah, I never thought.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Tip come back. It has kind of it's there, you know, Yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 2: no I have.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I've seen it, you know, gigs here and there. You know,
- 19:00Speaker 3: some dance have product, some some cassettes, which is yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Kind of cool. You know.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I think, you know, we should have the option for
- 19:06Speaker 3: it all would be nice. You know, they shouldn't phase
- 19:09Speaker 3: out completely and you never know before what was c
- 19:12Speaker 3: CDs back? You know some still do to CDs, you know.
- 19:15Speaker 2: It's yeah, well I think you still do.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I just don't have anything to play it on.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Even my car doesn't have a CD player anymore these days, so.
- 19:24Speaker 2: It's okay, they're making it more difficult to get.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Yeh.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know, a good vinyl and a good
- 19:32Speaker 3: sound you know, speaker set up, and I think it
- 19:34Speaker 3: actually sounds a lot better. So it's probably your premium
- 19:37Speaker 3: sounds system. I think definitely the old stuff.
- 19:40Speaker 2: It's just feel more because you're like I mean, I
- 19:46Speaker 2: remember back in the day, I'd buy a record and
- 19:47Speaker 2: it would be a I'd even do mis purchases where
- 19:50Speaker 2: I'd get it and I think, oh this is terrible,
- 19:52Speaker 2: I need to take it back, but they wouldn't accept
- 19:54Speaker 2: it back. So then you'd putting the time and effort
- 19:58Speaker 2: to try and like it, and then you.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Haven't it your.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Proper and if you and if you liked it, then
- 20:06Speaker 2: you still you still you analyzed each track, so it
- 20:08Speaker 2: was a it's very much something you invested time into,
- 20:13Speaker 2: you know, and it's nice to see that it's.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Still around for sure. No, definitely, it's you know, you're
- 20:19Speaker 3: the busy world that we live in. A lot of people,
- 20:20Speaker 3: you know, you don't find the time to listen to
- 20:22Speaker 3: a full album, which can be disappointing, and but you
- 20:25Speaker 3: know it's slow it down and take the time out
- 20:28Speaker 3: your ears. Well, thank you for it later. That's what
- 20:31Speaker 3: I always say. It's it's good just to check out
- 20:34Speaker 3: for you know. However, long that album goes for these
- 20:36Speaker 3: days and forty five minutes or whatever it's it's it's
- 20:40Speaker 3: better than reading books sometimes, I think, just to have
- 20:43Speaker 3: your head filled with nothing and the sweet, sweet sounds
- 20:45Speaker 3: of death metal or gothic rock.
- 20:50Speaker 1: For sure.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Well, look, thank you so much for coming and having
- 20:52Speaker 3: a chat with us today and have you No.
- 20:55Speaker 1: That's so good.
- 20:56Speaker 3: We look forward to seeing you come out in October
- 20:59Speaker 3: to do shows off the end of your Ascension album.
- 21:02Speaker 3: And yeah, your fans are no doubt be frothing to
- 21:06Speaker 3: see chopping at the bit. It's been ten years, so
- 21:09Speaker 3: no doubt they will do you proud and you'll be
- 21:13Speaker 3: You'll be loving the crowds for sure.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't work. I can't work, and it's my
- 21:17Speaker 2: favorite time of year.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Yeah, not just it's not going to be too warm.
- 21:20Speaker 3: It's going to be just before the heat kicks in
- 21:23Speaker 3: down Under and it's here's summer here is very hot.
- 21:27Speaker 1: But it's.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Sound ones oh wow, yeah, just brutal, you know.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yeah, they're crazy. It was speaking to Another Hour the
- 21:43Speaker 3: other day. He's in Germany and he was saying, like
- 21:45Speaker 3: the heat wave over there, which I'm sure you guys
- 21:47Speaker 3: have been experiencing too, is just insane and saying that
- 21:51Speaker 3: you're in some of their festivals like Day are big
- 21:53Speaker 3: fans on the sides for the crowd and throw like
- 21:56Speaker 3: they put water on it. I've not seen that before
- 21:59Speaker 3: and I think that's a very smart idea for especially
- 22:02Speaker 3: for Australian summer festivals.
- 22:04Speaker 1: That there were a killer, their absolute killer.
- 22:06Speaker 3: It's brutal, but yeah, no one stayed with the lights
- 22:09Speaker 3: is even worse so. But yes, you're picking the nice
- 22:13Speaker 3: time and it will be a nice enclosed venue too,
- 22:16Speaker 3: so it'll be good one for you guys.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Excellent, but you wentjoy the rest of your day and
- 22:21Speaker 1: we'll later. Thanks for that. Good thanks Grete.
