- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome, moms. Welcome to Inside the Mom's Club. I'm your host,
- 0:03Speaker 1: Monica Samuels, and I'm here with my lovely co host
- 0:07Speaker 1: and sometimes roommate, Julie Orchid.
- 0:10Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. We're friends. We're co hosts or
- 0:14Speaker 2: hosts together. I'm inside the Mom's Club.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We are, and then we're out here in Los Angeles.
- 0:19Speaker 1: We share a hotel room, yes, ye, which is always
- 0:23Speaker 1: an interesting experience, and.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Last night was a new experience.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Particularly Yes. The fact that we're still saying we're friends
- 0:29Speaker 1: after that is quite an accomplishment because last night accident.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I was watching a podcast on my iPad in bed, Yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 1: and all of the suddenly, okay, it wasn't that loud,
- 0:46Speaker 1: all of a sudden, now the blue, I see this
- 0:49Speaker 1: figure appear over me. Yeah, grab my iPad, slam it shut,
- 0:56Speaker 1: and shove it in the dresser there.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Now, I can see how that would make you a
- 1:03Speaker 3: little edgy if it was true.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I mean, it is true, it is a little true.
- 1:08Speaker 2: But it was very dark.
- 1:09Speaker 3: I couldn't see what was happening, and maybe the podcast
- 1:12Speaker 3: had been playing, as my kids would say, six seven, like.
- 1:16Speaker 2: A long time. Yeah, So I thought you were asleep.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And I was awake.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, so rude.
- 1:23Speaker 1: That's my first thought was how rude.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I think I felt sorry for my kids because.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah, now I know how they felt when because then
- 1:32Speaker 1: I was afraid. So that was the next thing that happened.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Watching TV is over, it's over.
- 1:36Speaker 1: First, I did the passive aggressive thing and I jumped
- 1:38Speaker 1: out of bed to make it clear that I was awake,
- 1:40Speaker 1: but you didn't seem to care.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I had headphones on, which is normal for when you're listening.
- 1:45Speaker 1: To and then I went and got back in bed
- 1:48Speaker 1: and thought, okay, now I can't I what am I
- 1:50Speaker 1: going to do to go to sleep because now I
- 1:51Speaker 1: don't have anything. It's she doesn't want me to have
- 1:53Speaker 1: this thing on. But then I but then I had
- 1:56Speaker 1: a plan. Yeh, like you like when you're a little kid.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I got I got it out, yeah, turned it on
- 2:01Speaker 1: as low as I could, and I created this sound
- 2:04Speaker 1: barrier with pillows.
- 2:05Speaker 2: So you were hiding under the papers, yeah, and in.
- 2:08Speaker 1: A cave over myself.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And that total accident, and that didn't seem to bother you.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But yeah, now I felt I felt like a child.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I'm so sorry about that. I've apologized many times. If
- 2:20Speaker 3: you were awake, I would have asked, but I had
- 2:23Speaker 3: headphones on. I couldn't hear what was going on, and
- 2:25Speaker 3: it was very dark. So I hope we can still
- 2:28Speaker 3: be roommates.
- 2:28Speaker 4: We can, Yeah, I had, I had to think about it,
- 2:32Speaker 4: but yeah, but reliving that made me reminded me of
- 2:37Speaker 4: like when I was a child, yeah, which I can
- 2:41Speaker 4: barely remember bedtime and yeah, So I'm excited about our
- 2:46Speaker 4: guests because I.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Want to talk to her about things that remind me
- 2:49Speaker 1: of that. Because let me explain. Our guest today is
- 2:53Speaker 1: an actress, producer, host, and author who garnered the love
- 2:57Speaker 1: of millions on the hugely popular sitcom Full House and
- 3:01Speaker 1: the Netflix spin off Fuller House, and fans can currently
- 3:05Speaker 1: tune in to hear her in her on screen front
- 3:07Speaker 1: of Me and current bff Andrea Barber, who together co
- 3:12Speaker 1: host hal Rude Tanner Rito's, and she's the mother of
- 3:16Speaker 1: two teenage daughters. Welcome Jody, sweet and welcome to the
- 3:20Speaker 1: Mom's Club. We're so you could join us today. Thank
- 3:24Speaker 1: you for having me. I'm so proud. I'm glad you're here.
- 3:26Speaker 5: And you know.
- 3:28Speaker 1: How Rude came to mind, It was like naturally.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I think that's what she wanted to say.
- 3:33Speaker 6: How I want, Lily, I have to say. I also
- 3:37Speaker 6: I I've got a side. I can't side with you
- 3:40Speaker 6: on this one.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Maga.
- 3:40Speaker 6: It's you need headphones, scar sharing a room, the brightness
- 3:46Speaker 6: and the and you got it headphones if there's anyone
- 3:50Speaker 6: else within hearing distance. Otherwise you're I described it. I
- 3:54Speaker 6: gotta says the air Force. That's not a great way
- 3:56Speaker 6: to come on someone. Show you're the problem.
- 3:59Speaker 5: I will in this scenario.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I do.
- 4:01Speaker 5: I do. I think really the how rude belongs to her?
- 4:06Speaker 1: WHOA oh wow wow, Well okay, I want to give
- 4:08Speaker 1: you a little heads up on the first part of
- 4:10Speaker 1: that though. Do you know why I had that on?
- 4:11Speaker 1: It is because of the snoring. I was trying to
- 4:16Speaker 1: drown that one out. So see there was something going
- 4:19Speaker 1: on there. But no, I can take that. I guess
- 4:20Speaker 1: there's no hell rude for that. I that's right.
- 4:22Speaker 5: It sounds like you both need to travel with earplunks.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think you're right. That's yes, we're slow. You know,
- 4:28Speaker 1: it's only been four years, but we're learning how to
- 4:31Speaker 1: do these things. But what I was Louisa, I brought
- 4:34Speaker 1: all that up is. It reminded me of like being
- 4:37Speaker 1: a kid, like when your parents shows up and take
- 4:40Speaker 1: something from you because you're almost to have your phone,
- 4:42Speaker 1: you're not supposed to have your iPad. And I thought,
- 4:44Speaker 1: you know, I can't even that's I had the feeling
- 4:46Speaker 1: of being that young, but I've forgotten what it's like
- 4:49Speaker 1: to be that young. And then I thought about the
- 4:52Speaker 1: show today and what we're doing and looking back through
- 4:55Speaker 1: all the episodes of Full House and looking at you
- 4:57Speaker 1: when you were five years old, when you.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Started yeah to thirteen, and you know, you.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Have a podcast where you're looking through all that. What's
- 5:04Speaker 1: it like to see yourself at that age? I mean,
- 5:08Speaker 1: you literally get to watch yourself grow up be that age.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Is It kind of surreal because to me, I don't
- 5:15Speaker 1: even I barely remember.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Right, I mean I barely remember this morning. These days,
- 5:21Speaker 6: the peri metopostal brain fog is really really kicking in.
- 5:25Speaker 6: It's super fun. But you know, going back and watching
- 5:29Speaker 6: the show is so much fun because I never watched
- 5:33Speaker 6: it growing up. I haven't watched these episodes, so you know,
- 5:38Speaker 6: it brings back. It's like watching an old home movie
- 5:40Speaker 6: that you haven't seen in a really long time, it
- 5:42Speaker 6: brings back, you know, these memories, and I think as
- 5:47Speaker 6: an adult having the perspective, it's now it's like you
- 5:51Speaker 6: can sort of laugh with yourself. But you know, there's
- 5:54Speaker 6: that time in like your middle school teenage years when
- 5:57Speaker 6: you're just like mortified because oh my, I've got a
- 6:00Speaker 6: catchphrase and everyone knows it, you know.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, because the show ended when you were
- 6:06Speaker 1: what thirteen or fourteen?
- 6:07Speaker 6: So I was thirteen and I was finishing eighth grade
- 6:11Speaker 6: that year, and then I went into I was going
- 6:12Speaker 6: into high school. So it was just kind of a
- 6:14Speaker 6: big shift time of shifting in general.
- 6:18Speaker 2: It was a lot.
- 6:20Speaker 3: So I watched or listened to some of your podcasts,
- 6:24Speaker 3: and so how do you remember, Like is it a
- 6:26Speaker 3: memory that sparks? And because I can't, I mean, you're
- 6:30Speaker 3: not kidding about the brain fog, but I'm just saying,
- 6:32Speaker 3: does it spark, like you remember like something and then
- 6:35Speaker 3: you're able to talk about it.
- 6:37Speaker 6: Oh yeah, Well, things that happened in the past, I
- 6:40Speaker 6: can remember. It's the more recent things, No, I have, truly,
- 6:46Speaker 6: But I just I have so many it's like growing up,
- 6:49Speaker 6: Like they're all of my childhood memories, you know, like
- 6:52Speaker 6: they're all important things that you know. It's like, that
- 6:57Speaker 6: was the house I grew up in, and quote unquote
- 7:01Speaker 6: you know, it didn't have four walls or roof, but
- 7:04Speaker 6: that was the house I grew up in. And so
- 7:06Speaker 6: like I, you know, just I knew the ins and
- 7:09Speaker 6: out of everything on there.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And a lot of ways. It's got to be kind
- 7:12Speaker 1: of cool to be able to see yourself through those
- 7:15Speaker 1: years and because you don't you can't remember it. But
- 7:19Speaker 1: and for your kids to see that, your two daughters,
- 7:21Speaker 1: do they ever have it?
- 7:23Speaker 7: What care?
- 7:25Speaker 1: They don't really care.
- 7:26Speaker 5: I don't care.
- 7:27Speaker 6: They watched maybe a couple episodes when they were younger,
- 7:32Speaker 6: but like Full House was not their thing. Uh they
- 7:36Speaker 6: were they were more into like Tim Burton and uh
- 7:40Speaker 6: like interesting like weird anime stuff like that when they
- 7:43Speaker 6: were little. But Full House they watched it and they're like, oh,
- 7:46Speaker 6: that's cool, can we watch what we wanted now?
- 7:50Speaker 5: Even when they came.
- 7:51Speaker 6: To Fuller House, they were, you know, a little bit older,
- 7:53Speaker 6: and they would come on Friday nights to the tapings,
- 7:55Speaker 6: but they they didn't want to sit in the audience
- 7:57Speaker 6: and watch what was happening. They wanted to be backstage
- 8:00Speaker 6: hanging out with the kids on the show and eating
- 8:02Speaker 6: craft service.
- 8:03Speaker 3: So absolutely our audience remembers this show really well. Do
- 8:08Speaker 3: you have a favorite one that you'd love to share
- 8:10Speaker 3: with us today?
- 8:11Speaker 8: Oh?
- 8:12Speaker 3: I know, there's so many, But I mean, is there
- 8:14Speaker 3: something that comes to mind that you always like to.
- 8:16Speaker 6: There's so many, But I have to say, in recent watching,
- 8:22Speaker 6: we've now made it through like almost five complete seasons
- 8:26Speaker 6: of Full House. I love the Stephanie car in the
- 8:31Speaker 6: kitchen moment.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I just love it.
- 8:33Speaker 5: It's so good. It's such a great episode.
- 8:37Speaker 6: There's so many good moments in it. There's such a
- 8:39Speaker 6: sweet moment at the end with Danny and staph like
- 8:42Speaker 6: and I think maybe that's also like we watched it
- 8:44Speaker 6: and it really just stuck with me again because it
- 8:47Speaker 6: was just such a sweet scene with me and Bob.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I love that.
- 8:49Speaker 6: But I mean, I love that episode and it's one
- 8:52Speaker 6: that I get from fans a lot, which is you know,
- 8:54Speaker 6: the car through the kitchen, because yeah, it was just outrageous.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, your career, so that's just you've done so
- 9:03Speaker 1: many things as we've looked for your career. Wow, you
- 9:06Speaker 1: have been.
- 9:07Speaker 2: We could jump all around.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well, let's talk. But now so you're now
- 9:11Speaker 1: very involved in stand up, that's what your main focus is.
- 9:15Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, we've been doing some stand up.
- 9:18Speaker 6: I've been the kind of my pet project right now
- 9:21Speaker 6: is a show called Smoke Show with Sweeten, a comedy pageant,
- 9:25Speaker 6: and we're really building up our audience. We figured out
- 9:29Speaker 6: our streaming stuff and we're looking at that so that
- 9:32Speaker 6: we can start streaming it, you know, to anybody who
- 9:35Speaker 6: wants to watch.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Because not everyone is in LA.
- 9:38Speaker 6: But it is so much fun and uh, I'm my
- 9:42Speaker 6: two friends produce it with me, Sabrina and Gia Cognata
- 9:45Speaker 6: and their sisters, and we just we pick the most outrageous,
- 9:50Speaker 6: inappropriate things to put comedians through, the weirdest beauty pageant
- 9:58Speaker 6: that you've ever seen. Yeah, it's it's just it's great
- 10:00Speaker 6: and we've gotten some great reviews.
- 10:03Speaker 7: Uh.
- 10:03Speaker 6: Julie Seebah from who did all the comedy stuff at
- 10:06Speaker 6: Ellie Times, has come every week and you know, she's like,
- 10:09Speaker 6: this is one of the best monthly shows. So that's
- 10:11Speaker 6: a huge compliment. But yeah, that's like moving more into comedy,
- 10:16Speaker 6: moving more into kind of writing, directing. Like I mean,
- 10:21Speaker 6: I still I love acting. I'd love to be able
- 10:25Speaker 6: to do. You know, there's a couple of projects that
- 10:27Speaker 6: I have a couple of scripts that trying to get
- 10:30Speaker 6: those off the ground that are a little bit different, darker,
- 10:33Speaker 6: you know, more.
- 10:37Speaker 5: Dramatic.
- 10:38Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, that brings me to dateless.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Am I going to get it wrong?
- 10:45Speaker 5: You know what? Dangerous?
- 10:47Speaker 6: There's a different title anyway, So I don't even know
- 10:50Speaker 6: what title they wound up, like you're changing it about
- 10:54Speaker 6: my seventeen year old son and dateless and dangerous.
- 10:57Speaker 5: It's about in culs in cells.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Basically, it's about the radicalization of young men online. Oh
- 11:03Speaker 1: oh wow, which is a thing.
- 11:05Speaker 6: It's a huge thing. It's a huge thing. And you know,
- 11:08Speaker 6: I play a mom, uh to two teenagers.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Boy and a girl, and.
- 11:15Speaker 6: You know, the the boy is really struggling with fitting
- 11:20Speaker 6: in and getting you know, girls, and you know he's
- 11:24Speaker 6: like an awkward kids like we all were, but he
- 11:29Speaker 6: is really involved kind of in gaming and starts getting
- 11:32Speaker 6: more and more in these kind of radicalized, misogynistic, violent
- 11:39Speaker 6: areas of the.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Internet which we know exist. And then you know, Mom.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Is like, what has happened to you?
- 11:45Speaker 5: What is what's going on?
- 11:47Speaker 6: So yeah, it was I really enjoyed being able to
- 11:51Speaker 6: do something more dramatic, you know, Yeah.
- 11:55Speaker 3: That's the that's the role I saw you play in there,
- 11:58Speaker 3: and I was like, Wow, she's going to get a
- 11:59Speaker 3: hold this kid and we're gonna you know, right the ship.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah. No, Well, what where do you prefer? Do you
- 12:06Speaker 1: prefer comedy or do you prefer drama or And what
- 12:10Speaker 1: inspired you to like, you're seems like you're really into
- 12:13Speaker 1: comedy obviously that's been most of your career and non
- 12:15Speaker 1: stand up, did you were surrounded by comedians? I mean
- 12:19Speaker 1: growing up? Is that did that inspire you? Or have
- 12:22Speaker 1: you always been just like this naturally hilarious person who
- 12:25Speaker 1: had you know, You're you're just naturally funny, and so I.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Would like to think it's a combination of both.
- 12:31Speaker 6: And I will say that that Bob, you know, he
- 12:35Speaker 6: always gave me one of the biggest compliments, which was,
- 12:38Speaker 6: you know, he told me.
- 12:39Speaker 5: He said, at five years old, you had better.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Comedic timing than most stand ups I'd ever seen as adults.
- 12:45Speaker 6: And he really meant it, and he would say it
- 12:47Speaker 6: all the time and in interviews, and he you know, he.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Was like, you just you really got it.
- 12:51Speaker 6: So I think it was something that I was sort of.
- 12:56Speaker 6: I was very I was bright as a kid, and
- 12:59Speaker 6: I think comedy and wit, you know, the like it
- 13:04Speaker 6: requires the ability to kind of look at things and
- 13:07Speaker 6: see things and.
- 13:08Speaker 5: You know, get the joke. And and I did at
- 13:10Speaker 5: a very early age.
- 13:11Speaker 6: So, you know, growing up around two stand up comedians
- 13:14Speaker 6: as well as their friends who are also stand ups,
- 13:17Speaker 6: and all this stuff, you know, I learned. I learned
- 13:21Speaker 6: a lot about comedy, and I learned a lot of inappropriate.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Jokes, which, uh, which went over my head at the time,
- 13:31Speaker 5: But now I.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Get like, wait, I've heard that a long time ago.
- 13:35Speaker 3: So I have a quick question. You brought up, Bob,
- 13:38Speaker 3: and so we'd love to have you know, it's so sad,
- 13:41Speaker 3: but I also want to know a positive last memory
- 13:45Speaker 3: that you had with him, and you know what he
- 13:48Speaker 3: meant to you.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Oh my gosh.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I know that's a loaded question, but you know what
- 13:52Speaker 3: I mean, like, yeah, yeah, he was.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Very trying to remember the last time I had seen him.
- 13:56Speaker 6: I believe we had been at Jeff's house, Jeff Franklin,
- 14:03Speaker 6: our creator, and I believe it was for like a
- 14:05Speaker 6: barbecue or some Labor Day kind of holiday whatever. We
- 14:09Speaker 6: you know, we would get together for like family barbecues, and.
- 14:12Speaker 1: We'd always go to Jeff's.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Bob was always kind of the gatherer of the people,
- 14:17Speaker 6: and it would be like a family barbecue at Jeff's house.
- 14:21Speaker 6: And you know, I just I have so many memories
- 14:25Speaker 6: of Bob and his laughter, Like I can hear his
- 14:30Speaker 6: laughter and I can hear I can hear him say
- 14:34Speaker 6: hey Joe, Like I just know, I know the sound
- 14:37Speaker 6: of his voice, and I can still hear it in
- 14:39Speaker 6: my head. Yeah, and you know, Bob was He was
- 14:44Speaker 6: a hugely influential part of my life. And you know, Bob,
- 14:49Speaker 6: I have a very dark sense of humor. I think
- 14:51Speaker 6: I kind of always did, but certainly being around you know,
- 14:54Speaker 6: stand up comedians, particularly Bob, really, you know, I was like.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Oh, you can.
- 14:59Speaker 6: You can be funny and be dark. You can laugh
- 15:02Speaker 6: at painful things, you know. I watched Bob and Dave
- 15:05Speaker 6: go through losing their sisters and their parents, really horrible
- 15:10Speaker 6: battles with cancer and sclarederma, and they made jokes the
- 15:14Speaker 6: whole time, Jokes to their sisters, jokes to their family,
- 15:17Speaker 6: jokes like they just you they laughed at it because
- 15:21Speaker 6: it you know, otherwise it eats you alive.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's what you know. Our tagline for our
- 15:25Speaker 1: show is if you don't laugh, sometimes you're gonna cry,
- 15:28Speaker 1: because that's the kind of a mom thing. Yeah, so yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 1: we kind of we believe in that so that you
- 15:32Speaker 1: you That's.
- 15:33Speaker 6: Where my friend and I did a mom slash comedy podcast.
- 15:38Speaker 5: It was I hate to.
- 15:40Speaker 6: Call it like mom advice because it was probably everything
- 15:42Speaker 6: that you shouldn't do, right. It was really was her
- 15:45Speaker 6: and I and you know, it's called never thought I'd
- 15:47Speaker 6: say this, and it was just about all of the
- 15:48Speaker 6: things that like, as a mom, you're like, I never
- 15:51Speaker 6: I never thought that that sentence would have to leave
- 15:54Speaker 6: my mouth in regards to another human being.
- 15:57Speaker 5: You know, totally. We don't lick the toilet, lit.
- 15:59Speaker 6: I you'd think that, like humans know that, but when
- 16:03Speaker 6: they're little, they don't know that.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I mean I'd like to say, I run
- 16:07Speaker 3: like a really tight ship wreck.
- 16:11Speaker 6: That's what I like to say, because yeah, we're like
- 16:14Speaker 6: little pirates over here, yeah, complete with sailor mouths.
- 16:18Speaker 5: So it's I.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Don't think people know that you have two daughters and
- 16:22Speaker 3: they're teenagers.
- 16:23Speaker 5: I do, seventeen and fifteen.
- 16:25Speaker 3: And how do you how do you talk to them
- 16:28Speaker 3: about like working full time and doing it all and
- 16:31Speaker 3: juggling like today, you know you were so you had
- 16:34Speaker 3: to make a shift or right left.
- 16:36Speaker 6: Sometimes I'm better at balancing things and sometimes I'm not.
- 16:39Speaker 6: Sometimes I can be present with them and more focused,
- 16:43Speaker 6: and sometimes I'm you know, away shooting a movie for
- 16:47Speaker 6: three and a half four weeks, and you know, I've
- 16:50Speaker 6: got to They have to be kind of independent.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I mean, they have their dads in their lives. I don't.
- 16:54Speaker 1: They're not like not off on their own.
- 16:56Speaker 6: But you know, they have seen me go through relationship
- 17:03Speaker 6: breakups and you know, not having any money and you know,
- 17:09Speaker 6: and figuring it out and driving a car that somebody
- 17:11Speaker 6: gave me and just to make sure that I could
- 17:13Speaker 6: get to a job that you know, I was making
- 17:15Speaker 6: ten bucks an hour at and I was fine with.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Like watching they have watched me do all.
- 17:20Speaker 6: Of those things, and I would like to think that
- 17:25Speaker 6: they you know, it's hard to be a mom and
- 17:29Speaker 6: a working mom. We all, you know, we know that
- 17:31Speaker 6: there's no there is no balance. People say, how do
- 17:33Speaker 6: you balance it all? You're like, I don't, But I
- 17:36Speaker 6: would like to think that the moments that I wasn't
- 17:38Speaker 6: there that I did have to show up for something
- 17:41Speaker 6: that I love to do, that's important to me, that's
- 17:44Speaker 6: my career. I hope that my girls saw that not
- 17:47Speaker 6: as something that was more important than them, but as something.
- 17:52Speaker 1: That they should do too. That we all.
- 17:55Speaker 6: Need fulfilling lives because they're all all can have that,
- 18:00Speaker 6: whether you're a mom like that's okay. We had an
- 18:03Speaker 6: amazing you know nanny and my grandparents or my parents,
- 18:07Speaker 6: and you know that you call in the village and
- 18:09Speaker 6: you help, and I just always hope that my daughter
- 18:12Speaker 6: saw that there was nothing that ever held me back.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Well, we have a real quick question at the top
- 18:21Speaker 1: of your head. Do you feel, like a lot of people,
- 18:24Speaker 1: you enjoy spas I would imagine do you like to
- 18:26Speaker 1: go to the spa? Okay, what's your favorite spa experience?
- 18:30Speaker 1: You have one favorite thing that like if this is
- 18:32Speaker 1: the first thing, this is what I wanted.
- 18:35Speaker 5: To do, so I think it's for Oh no.
- 18:41Speaker 6: So my daughter, my older one, for her sixteenth birthday,
- 18:45Speaker 6: she wanted to go to Disneyland. So we went to
- 18:48Speaker 6: Disneyland and really lived it up at the Disneyland Grand California.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Which has a beautiful spa in it. Oh, and.
- 18:57Speaker 6: There was the most just magical like meditation because it's
- 19:01Speaker 6: all sort of you know, based in nature, and it
- 19:05Speaker 6: was amazing and also one of my favorite favorite facial places.
- 19:13Speaker 5: It's called Sula.
- 19:14Speaker 6: It was called Sula Face but now it's just Soula.
- 19:17Speaker 6: She's opened another place here in LA They do buckle massage. Oh,
- 19:23Speaker 6: so she does a facial that like they put on
- 19:26Speaker 6: gloves and they get in and like work all of
- 19:30Speaker 6: this jaw tension, all of the lymphatic drainage. Let me
- 19:34Speaker 6: tell you, when you finish, you're like there's cheekbones. Like
- 19:40Speaker 6: I'm not even kidding you. It like if you can
- 19:43Speaker 6: get it the day of or day or day before
- 19:45Speaker 6: an event, like it just it makes you go called.
- 19:50Speaker 6: It's amazing that Amanda they started in They started in
- 19:55Speaker 6: Toronto and I got my first treatment up there and
- 19:59Speaker 6: then I've stayed in touch with her.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Now they have an LA version. I'm on, well, we've
- 20:04Speaker 1: got an idea for you for another spat experience. So
- 20:07Speaker 1: we're very excited that we have a new sponsor. Yes, oh,
- 20:10Speaker 1: Woodlock Resorts, which was named the number one best all
- 20:15Speaker 1: inclusive resort in the US for twenty twenty five. It's
- 20:19Speaker 1: in the Poconos. It's only two hours.
- 20:22Speaker 3: It's like beautiful, that's where it's four hundred degrees for the.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Past five months.
- 20:26Speaker 1: They might have a sauna, but it's not like walking
- 20:28Speaker 1: out your front door and that's your sauna. Like they
- 20:31Speaker 1: had got everything. And we were so excited to have
- 20:34Speaker 1: as part of our inside the Mom's Club family and
- 20:36Speaker 1: to be a sponsor for our zoomer moms. And with that,
- 20:39Speaker 1: let me welcome a bunch of ladies who'd like to
- 20:41Speaker 1: ask you questions. Jody, our zoomer moms. Welcome Zoomer Moms
- 20:45Speaker 1: to the Mom's Club. Hi, zoomer mom. Hi ladies. Well,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I want to introduce each one of you and introduce yourself.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Tell us a little bit about yourself, and do you
- 20:56Speaker 1: have a question for Jody. Let's start with Janine.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Hi.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Jeanine, wellcome to the Mom's Club.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Hi, it's good to see you. Thank you for having
- 21:04Speaker 2: me today.
- 21:05Speaker 8: Absolutely the question that I have, and it's about all
- 21:10Speaker 8: of our busy lives and when you're pulled in so
- 21:13Speaker 8: many directions and responsibilities and children and work and philanthropies
- 21:20Speaker 8: all of that, sometimes it's hard to squeeze in the
- 21:23Speaker 8: time that you need to take care of you and
- 21:26Speaker 8: to feel grounded through habits or routines. Can you share
- 21:30Speaker 8: some of your thoughts about having some habits and routines
- 21:34Speaker 8: that kind of keep your head screwed on straight.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 21:40Speaker 6: So this year, like early in the year, I started
- 21:45Speaker 6: really having this moment of like I feel untethered, like
- 21:49Speaker 6: you were talking when you're just so busy and you're like,
- 21:51Speaker 6: I can't. I feel like I'm trying to catch up
- 21:54Speaker 6: with my own thoughts and my own life and you're
- 21:56Speaker 6: like kind of racing after yourself almost.
- 22:00Speaker 9: You know.
- 22:00Speaker 6: I realized, Okay, I need to take some time in
- 22:03Speaker 6: the morning and really slow down, even if it's ten minutes.
- 22:06Speaker 6: And I started this journaling practice, and then I found
- 22:10Speaker 6: this journal company. It's a woman owned South Asian woman
- 22:15Speaker 6: owned company called Silken Sounder, and it's a monthly journal thing,
- 22:19Speaker 6: and it is it's a combination of like bullet journaling
- 22:23Speaker 6: for your day so you can kind of write everything out,
- 22:26Speaker 6: and also like there's a theme of the month like
- 22:30Speaker 6: resiliency or you know, acceptance or whatever. And then in
- 22:36Speaker 6: the journals there's also like little questions for you to
- 22:40Speaker 6: reflect on and there's like a ten minute thing each morning.
- 22:43Speaker 6: So I have really in this year made it a
- 22:46Speaker 6: huge priority for me.
- 22:49Speaker 5: And I can't tell you how.
- 22:54Speaker 6: Just that ten minutes and literally like writing down my
- 22:57Speaker 6: day even though it's in my phone, right it down
- 23:00Speaker 6: somehow feels like, Okay, I can manage this. This is
- 23:04Speaker 6: really actually not that bad, Like this is this is doable.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Sometow times in my phone it's like there's so many
- 23:11Speaker 6: lines and I'm.
- 23:11Speaker 5: Like, oh god, it's too much.
- 23:14Speaker 6: But I really think like finding a practice for five
- 23:17Speaker 6: or ten minutes, even if it's in your car, h
- 23:19Speaker 6: whatever it might be, find something that works for you
- 23:22Speaker 6: and try and stick with it for more than ninety days.
- 23:26Speaker 6: Be really religious about it for the first ninety days,
- 23:28Speaker 6: because that's about how long it takes to have, you know,
- 23:31Speaker 6: build habits and h and I it is. It's really
- 23:35Speaker 6: changed my life, my mental health.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I highly reck I agree, that's great journey in the
- 23:42Speaker 1: morning time for sure. Danny is Janine's daughter, so we're
- 23:48Speaker 1: her mother daughter oriented here, welcome to the mom's club.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Tell us a little about your itself and do you
- 23:54Speaker 1: have a question for Jodie.
- 23:55Speaker 9: Yes, and good to meet you. I'm a huge fan.
- 23:58Speaker 9: I feel like I've grown up with you, but you
- 24:00Speaker 9: do not know me.
- 24:02Speaker 5: It's always a bit interesting.
- 24:03Speaker 6: You know, people grew up with me, but I have
- 24:07Speaker 6: no idea exactly.
- 24:09Speaker 9: And it seems like you have lived so much, so
- 24:12Speaker 9: much life on off the screen, and you've dipped your feet,
- 24:15Speaker 9: your toes into a lot of different areas.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I'm curious for you.
- 24:19Speaker 9: Who have been your greatest support systems or what have
- 24:22Speaker 9: been your support systems and why.
- 24:24Speaker 1: That's a great question. Oh man.
- 24:27Speaker 6: I mean, my parents have always supported me and you know,
- 24:31Speaker 6: loved me, and like have always just wanted the best
- 24:35Speaker 6: for me.
- 24:35Speaker 5: But I will say.
- 24:39Speaker 6: As i've gotten like in my thirties and forties even
- 24:43Speaker 6: a little earlier than that, but I really have found
- 24:46Speaker 6: a great group of women that I surround myself with.
- 24:51Speaker 6: And I was talking about this the other day about how,
- 24:53Speaker 6: you know, I think we're told that girls can't get
- 24:58Speaker 6: along or that we you know, we're mean to each
- 25:00Speaker 6: other or whatever, and so there's this weird stigma I
- 25:03Speaker 6: think that carries on even into your twenties about like
- 25:08Speaker 6: who to trust and how to trust women. And you know,
- 25:11Speaker 6: once I really got over that, I have I have
- 25:13Speaker 6: sisters that I've been friends with for you know, fifteen
- 25:17Speaker 6: sixteen years now that have seen my kids in the
- 25:21Speaker 6: you know, hospital, over FaceTime like that. That are just
- 25:25Speaker 6: a part of my life and I couldn't do it
- 25:28Speaker 6: without them.
- 25:29Speaker 5: And I also have.
- 25:30Speaker 6: A really badass female team of a manager, publicist, social
- 25:36Speaker 6: media person like I have an all female team, which
- 25:41Speaker 6: I didn't pick it necessarily that way, but man, let
- 25:43Speaker 6: me tell you, those women have supported So Joe, do
- 25:47Speaker 6: you have a Mom's Club?
- 25:48Speaker 3: You're gonna start chapter here, because speaking what this.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Show is all about. So I'm thrilled to hear that. Christy,
- 25:57Speaker 1: welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us a little bit
- 25:59Speaker 1: about yourself and do you have a question for Jodie.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 26:02Speaker 7: Yes, Christy Pruitt Haynes from Nashville, Tennessee. Hello, And so
- 26:08Speaker 7: I am on sort of the other side of mother ring.
- 26:11Speaker 7: I'm an empty nester, which took a lot to get
- 26:15Speaker 7: used to. I literally wrote a book about it to
- 26:17Speaker 7: try and process all of this. But knowing that you're
- 26:21Speaker 7: getting to that point your girls are getting older, how
- 26:23Speaker 7: are you preparing for that kind of transition? And or
- 26:27Speaker 7: have you even thought about that yet? And what do
- 26:29Speaker 7: you feel like is sort of next as you start
- 26:31Speaker 7: moving towards that new phase of mothering.
- 26:34Speaker 6: Yeah, well, you know, it's interesting because you know, both
- 26:39Speaker 6: my girls have two different doubts from two different marriages.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Because you know, I'm saying I was busy.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Yeah, you know which one one baby Daddy wasn't enough
- 26:51Speaker 6: I had to get to.
- 26:54Speaker 2: If at first you don't succeed, try try.
- 26:57Speaker 6: Try to try again, and then if you don't succeed
- 26:59Speaker 6: again and whatnot, enjoy for the next eighteen Ye no, no,
- 27:05Speaker 6: you know, my girls they've always gone back and forth
- 27:08Speaker 6: between me and their dads, even when they were younger.
- 27:11Speaker 6: My older daughter her dad and my split when she
- 27:13Speaker 6: was around six months old, and my younger daughter her
- 27:18Speaker 6: dad my split when she was about.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Three, and they.
- 27:22Speaker 6: Have they had kind of gotten used to the routine
- 27:25Speaker 6: of going back and forth between here and dads. So
- 27:28Speaker 6: I get there's these moments of like, Okay, this is
- 27:31Speaker 6: it's just me. I've got to fit in, like all
- 27:34Speaker 6: the stuff that I want to do on you know,
- 27:36Speaker 6: this weekend or whatever, especially when they were little. Now
- 27:39Speaker 6: they don't care about you know what I mean, unless
- 27:41Speaker 6: I'm providing money. But your story yeah, you know, I think.
- 27:46Speaker 5: I also.
- 27:48Speaker 6: I've also made it a priority, particularly raising two young women,
- 27:53Speaker 6: to raise really independent young women, not who are are
- 28:00Speaker 6: so closed off and I can do it all myself,
- 28:03Speaker 6: but who know that no matter what, they can get
- 28:07Speaker 6: up after falling down and keep going and try again.
- 28:11Speaker 6: And so I'd like to think that sort of this
- 28:14Speaker 6: next phase. And you my older one is kind of there.
- 28:18Speaker 6: She's like looking for jobs and she's decided she wants
- 28:21Speaker 6: to go to you know, community college first and then
- 28:24Speaker 6: transfer into you She's but like she's got a plan. Yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 6: she told me, you know, the other day she's got
- 28:29Speaker 6: a plan. And then her car broke down. She's like,
- 28:31Speaker 6: here's what I'm gonna do. Looked everything up. She's got
- 28:33Speaker 6: a plan. And I'm like, oh yeah, oh my.
- 28:36Speaker 5: God, everything I did, it's like it's working. It's right.
- 28:40Speaker 6: Well, that's right, and that's it's you know. But I
- 28:43Speaker 6: I think that I'm actually really excited for this next phase,
- 28:49Speaker 6: sort of the fledgling, like launching, because I can't My
- 28:53Speaker 6: girls are so smart and funny and talented and independent
- 29:01Speaker 6: and deep and kind, like, I am so excited to
- 29:05Speaker 6: see who they become where it all goes I kind
- 29:09Speaker 6: of don't mind this moment of sitting back and getting
- 29:14Speaker 6: to watch them go out in the world a little bit.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I think it's actually cool.
- 29:19Speaker 6: Great one now talk to me at her high school graduation.
- 29:27Speaker 6: All the time, I missed all the times that were great.
- 29:29Speaker 6: You know, Yeah, then I'll be a mess. But a
- 29:32Speaker 6: great place is a really beautiful thing to watch.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cool. I love your attitude about all of that. Well,
