- 0:00SPEAKER_00: So the three new Trump cards?
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Have you been listening to my podcast?
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Because if you had been, you wouldn't ask me this question.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: In my opinion, it's a pipe dream.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I don't believe it's ever going to happen.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: The Platinum Card needs Congress.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Congress are never going to pass something like this.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: It doesn't make financial sense.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: It's 290 days for 5 million, my new not going to be taxed on worldwide income, no pastor citizenship for residency.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I don't know who has that kind of money just to waste for 290 days.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Because there are so many ways to be in the country and have the same kind of tax sort of situation for six months and for an extra 90 days?
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: You want to pay 5 million?
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: It doesn't make sense.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I think that what's happened is that they kind of done their homework and realized that's not going to work, so let's push it off a little bit and then it can slowly slip away.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: While in the in the same time we can talk about the gold card, which again is not going to happen.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Why is the gold card not going to happen, in my opinion?
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: I don't believe it's going to be feasible unless, and that's a little caveat on the unless here.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: First of all, the Trump administration has put the visa for the gold card in the category called EB1 and EB2.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: These are employment-based visas.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: For a lot of people, for the Chinese, for the Indians, that category is not valid because there's already a backlog in those categories.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: So unless there's going to be some kind of carve-out for visas for these countries, it doesn't make sense.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: The one good thing about these both these categories is that you do have what's called priority processing, which is much faster.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: But it doesn't make sense for the average person who is the your typical candidate for EB5 who wants their money back.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's almost an 800,000 up until next year, then it's going to go up as a minimum amount for EB5, and there's a chance for you to get your money back with interest.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: And the vast majority of projects do give you your money back with interest.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Your gold card is just a contribution.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Saying that, we've had a lot of people who have said, I am considering going for the gold card, because they think it's going to be straight.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: The one issue that has been happening under this administration is that there's problems, a lot of problems with the current applications going through.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: EB5, by law, will increase in 2027.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: By law, the current amount is only grandfathered up to September of 2026.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: So yeah, there is going to be a bit of a rush next year as people try to come jump into EB5 at the 800,000 level.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: It will go up a specific amount to go in in line with inflation, and I believe it would be the minimum amount would be about a million and one.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: So it's it's a good 200 to 300,000 more.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: We have discussed this at Lent.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, yes, the president, the executive branch, which the president runs can influence immigration policy.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: However, a legislation has to go through Congress.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And so, for example, with the gold cards, you can't just hand out gold cards.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: You have to go through some kind of vetting.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And the vetting at the moment for source of funds is pretty stringent.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, to say you can arbitrarily just give out 100 gold cards, I don't believe is going to happen.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Not without a big noise from both sides of the parties, both the Democrats and the Republicans.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: So, no, I don't think it's going to happen.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So when Mr.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: McGregor asks for 100 gold cards just to be given, I mean it sounds like he just wants 100 gold cards just to be given without real due diligence and going through the process.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: That I don't believe will happen.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Do you know we were just discussing this morning?
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: There has been a marked movement against uh some couple of countries, both China and India, in coming to these countries.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: In the US, the H1B, which is primarily India, there's a big no-no of the amount of H 1Bs going out there.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: I think the curtailing of the H1Bs is a message that we've had that uh the US have quite enough.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And today we heard from Keir Starmer, first thing he said when he went to uh India was like no to any special relationships or special visas for Indians.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So I do think this is going to be an issue moving forward.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: But H1Bs is definitely a big issue in the US right now.
