Transcript
- 0:00Get laced up. Let's go. It's with the boys. Welcome
- 0:14back to Banter with the Boys. Gridiron updates
- 0:16our, what episode is this? Week 7. Wow, this
- 0:20is a tech, it is week 7, but this is our week
- 0:226 recap episode, technically. Did I say Gridiron
- 0:27updates? Yes, I did. Sorry, there were so many
- 0:30missed field goals in that Ravens and Browns
- 0:31game. It's just really throwing me off right
- 0:33now. Only two. Yeah, big one though. Yeah, hurts.
- 0:36Anyway. You're here. I am. That's it. Okay. Roberto.
- 0:41Let's go to the ball. You know what I mean? No.
- 0:43He only lassoed once. I swear. He usually lassos.
- 0:47Oh, it is only once, isn't it? I added the second
- 0:49one in there. Damn it. Never mind. Anyway, I'm
- 0:52already getting distracted. It feels like it's
- 0:53got to be more than one, though. That's what
- 0:54I mean. Just one lasso. Keep it moving, boys.
- 0:56Yeah. No, it's fine. It's good. It's good. Kev,
- 0:59behind the camera, get everything done for us.
- 1:00Nathan would have been here tonight, but he could
- 1:04not make it. You would have seen his pretty face
- 1:06one more week at least, our local Broncos fan.
- 1:10But like I said, he could not make it. But his
- 1:13Broncos won, and we'll touch on that before this
- 1:15episode ends. So without further ado, let's get
- 1:16into our first game, the Bills at the Raiders.
- 1:21Bills getting the win 33 -30. But, man, this
- 1:24was an absolute battle. And to be honest with
- 1:27you, I mean, we were talking a little bit before
- 1:29the show that let's start with the Vegas first
- 1:33real quick. But we're thinking that Kirk Cousins
- 1:37does not end up getting traded at the deadline.
- 1:40He's playing well enough. Just let him keep running
- 1:42with it right now. For sure. Right on. Yeah.
- 1:45Three and three there. I feel like they're exactly
- 1:47where they want to be right now. Absolutely.
- 1:50Well, if you follow along here with Banter of
- 1:53the Boys, we have a tent talk. episode coming
- 1:57up as well. Don't forget to check that out, but
- 1:59Kirk Cousins is on that trade list. We're going
- 2:01to talk about other trade people as well, but
- 2:02don't worry. We'll get to that. We're talking
- 2:05trades already? Absolutely. It was three weeks
- 2:07away from deadline. Anyway, sorry. Getting off
- 2:10topic, but Kirk Cousins and company played a
- 2:13great game, but just came up short. Great touch.
- 2:16That last touchdown was amazing, by the way.
- 2:19Just unfortunately couldn't fantasy football
- 2:21stats. That's right. I mean, it was it was late
- 2:23and it was garbage, almost garbage time, essentially,
- 2:26but tried to make it interesting. Just couldn't
- 2:28quite give it enough. Who do they do? We talk
- 2:31about them in our week seven game. We do not.
- 2:36So looking forward for the Raiders personally,
- 2:38just real quick. Yeah, I got the Rams and then
- 2:41at Jets at Niners. It doesn't get any easier
- 2:43for the Raiders, but for the Raiders, do you
- 2:46think they are a playoff team, Jake? If they
- 2:50could sneak in, they're not going to win the
- 2:51division most likely, right? Maybe sneak in as
- 2:54a wild card. The AFC South really is interesting
- 3:00in its own right. It's kind of potentially up
- 3:04for grabs. Jaguars are stumbling a little bit
- 3:06right now. Houston's getting hot. I mean, you
- 3:09still might get two teams out of there. They're
- 3:1310th right now. And Denver's still 4 -2. So they're
- 3:16not in right now currently. Currently, but I
- 3:19feel like they're battling enough that they might
- 3:21still squeak out a couple of these. Some of these
- 3:23close games, like again against the Chiefs and
- 3:25the Bills, will go the other way for them at
- 3:27some point here. I truly feel that. Again, Raider
- 3:30Nation going to be happy with me. At the end
- 3:32of the day, I think it's possible, but they have
- 3:35to figure out their run game. Ashton Jenty's
- 3:37got to figure out how to run the ball. He was
- 3:40ineffective against that Bills defense. And you're
- 3:45putting it down Jenty? Yeah. Right on. I mean,
- 3:48averaging 2 .2 yards a carry is just... That's
- 3:52not good? No. 2 .2? Okay. No. You want a bigger
- 3:55number. Yeah, pump them numbers up. Times three
- 3:58doesn't equal ten. No. What's ideal for you?
- 4:02You want it... Three and a half? Three is okay,
- 4:06I mean, technically. Three doesn't give you a
- 4:09first down after three touches. But then you
- 4:11can get four once you're mint. Right. You can
- 4:14math late. Goal would be four. Four and a clust.
- 4:20Was it dust of clouds is what they say. Yeah.
- 4:22Right on. Well, were you about to say something?
- 4:26No, I mean, it was just, I mean, the Bills came.
- 4:28Josh Allen just shown why he's one of the NFL's
- 4:31best quarterbacks. That play he made. That little
- 4:33shuffle to Coleman. I mean, how do you defend
- 4:38that? That's just a guy out in the schoolyard
- 4:40making a play. So fun to watch him play. Yeah,
- 4:44Ravens. I mean, not the Ravens, but the Raiders.
- 4:47the score looks tighter i think really the game
- 4:49was they were competitive with them in the first
- 4:51half but um yeah bills raiders exactly we'll
- 4:56see they got the rams and they got the jets rams
- 4:59are falling a little bit but i think that's gonna
- 5:01be a tougher game because the rams are falling
- 5:03right now and i think it's almost like their
- 5:05season too yeah and then then they got the jets
- 5:07game and that's where you're gonna kind of figure
- 5:09so if they don't split one of those if they lose
- 5:12both then that's no way off to answer that question
- 5:15yeah but if they can beat the rams let's say
- 5:17they beat the jets struggling rams beat the jets
- 5:21If they can at least compete with San Fran, do
- 5:22you still feel decent about if they were to make
- 5:25it as a wild card, can they actually? I mean,
- 5:27I look at the rest of their full schedule. It's
- 5:29just the math. You know, the more wins you get,
- 5:31the easier it is to make the playoffs. And when
- 5:35you're not going to win the division. Yeah, then
- 5:36they got 49ers, Steelers, Broncos, Browns. I
- 5:40mean, the next game, you think it's Chargers.
- 5:42And then they got Broncos again. So, yeah, I
- 5:46mean, they need, like you said. But those two
- 5:48Broncos games could be really huge. It could
- 5:51be really huge, but it's just not an easy win.
- 5:53No, of course not. I don't know. I think they
- 5:57at least split those Broncos games. I don't know.
- 6:00I think they make a push for the playoffs either
- 6:02way. But the Bills getting the dub, Josh Allen,
- 6:05kind of that different quarterback like we were
- 6:07talking about pre -show. What does he have to
- 6:11do now to kind of get over that hump at this
- 6:13point? trust the rest of his team which i think
- 6:16he did a better job of doing this time at least
- 6:19as far as trusting his offense because he only
- 6:21had five carries for one yard where so it wasn't
- 6:25oh my gosh josh allen's getting out of the pocket
- 6:27and running to get a first down or uh doing the
- 6:31the sneak for the touchdowns and stuff like that
- 6:33so just you really you saw pocket passer josh
- 6:37allen getting like even if the the pocket broke
- 6:39down he was getting out and still trying to make
- 6:42a play downfield versus just tucking, tuck it
- 6:44and running and taking a hit. So I think that
- 6:46that's where he continues to do that. And all
- 6:49this without DJ more. Yeah. Right. Right. Right
- 6:52on. We will talk about the bills actually in
- 6:55our week seven preview episode. So check that
- 6:58out. Circle them. Circle. Well, maybe we're playing
- 7:02an interesting squad, but anyway, let's go to
- 7:05our. Second game of week six here, the Carolina
- 7:09Panthers going to Philadelphia and getting the
- 7:12win, 25 -14. When was the last time Carolina
- 7:17has won in Philly? I feel like that's maybe been
- 7:19a while, but Philadelphia really struggling right
- 7:23now. Obviously, the Jalen Hurts thing, we'll
- 7:25touch on that in our next episode as well. Tanner
- 7:29McKee didn't necessarily look great out there.
- 7:32Again, the lack of run game. It's all bad. It's
- 7:34all bad right now. I mean, the first play, he
- 7:36literally was like, wait, no. Obviously, he was
- 7:41very nervous. Of course. And it showed that first
- 7:43play. Was that his first official NFL start?
- 7:47Maybe. Maybe. Right on, right on. I'm going to
- 7:49go yes. Right on. But that defense, that Philadelphia
- 7:51defense, we kind of give them their flowers all
- 7:53the time. But they can only hold on for so long.
- 7:57and getting put in not necessarily the best positions
- 7:59either. But on the other side of things, Bryce
- 8:02Young every week continues. I don't know. Man,
- 8:05I like him as a person, as a human being. I feel
- 8:08like he's a good dude. Like every week I listen
- 8:11to some of his pressers, and he just feels so
- 8:14genuine. And even when he was down and out of
- 8:16it, he was still a genuine guy. So it's just
- 8:18good to see him. Not on top of the mountain right
- 8:22now, but excelling, I would say, and continuing
- 8:25to trend in the right direction and try to get
- 8:27those Panthers to another playoff bid here. Yeah,
- 8:32they are leading their division. I wasn't sure.
- 8:34I thought maybe New Orleans had three as well,
- 8:36but never mind. New Orleans wishes. Yeah, tough
- 8:39NFC South division as far as first one to the
- 8:44bottom here, but Carolina have the Buccaneers
- 8:47and the... And then they travel to the Packers,
- 8:50and then the Broncos. I mean, that's kind of
- 8:52a gauntlet, too. Buccaneers seem to be a little
- 8:55bit easier out, but that's still a division game.
- 8:57Yeah, and that Buccaneers defense is playing
- 8:59really, really tough right now, too. Keep it
- 9:02on game, yeah. I mean, the first half was kind
- 9:05of boring in this game. It was 10 -7 at half,
- 9:07and the Eagles defense were holding on for dear
- 9:10life in that opportunity. It was nice for them
- 9:14to get Smith back. He caught a touchdown pass.
- 9:17Dallas Goddard, too. Yeah, Goddard, too. Yeah,
- 9:21it's looking like it's going to be a tough season.
- 9:24I did see the whole Andy Dalton thing where they
- 9:27cut him and then wanted him back, and he's like,
- 9:31eh. And then he signed, I think, today. With
- 9:33Atlanta. With Atlanta. That's a really funny,
- 9:36interesting story. I think that's hilarious.
- 9:39I mean, if they cut you, would you resign with
- 9:42them immediately? If you had no other opportunity
- 9:45somewhere else, I suppose, maybe. I don't know.
- 9:49I think that bridge was burnt somewhere. I mean,
- 9:51for sure. Clearly. But right on. Let's see. Hubbard,
- 9:56obviously, over 120 yards. On 28 freaking carries.
- 9:59He's been a really nice fantasy football draft
- 10:01pick this year. Oh, there we go. There we go.
- 10:04Right on. Anyone in that Carolina offense. Before
- 10:07we move on, let's take a look at Eagles here.
- 10:09Yeah, I mean, to be fair. If the Eagles can figure
- 10:13a couple things out, and again, they've played
- 10:14in a couple really close games, but if they can
- 10:18get a couple more in the win column, they could
- 10:20technically still somehow pull out this NFC East,
- 10:23which is just, again, like the NFC South, just
- 10:26struggling as a whole. I think the NFC East is,
- 10:30I think, struggling worse than the NFC South.
- 10:34They almost have the exact same records right
- 10:37now. Could be worse. Like Giants. No Jackson
- 10:45Dart. Yeah. Now you don't have Hurst. And then
- 10:48Daniels is banged up and back and struggling
- 10:51in San Francisco right now as we're recording
- 10:53this on a Monday. The Monday night game is going
- 10:55on. 13 -3, nine minutes left in the second. But
- 10:58that's what's crazy is the commanders could still
- 11:01figure this thing out and win the division. They
- 11:03all have a chip in a chair right now. None of
- 11:08them want to just snatch it. It's right there
- 11:10for the taking. And the Cowboys are probably
- 11:12the healthiest team of them all. I mean, the
- 11:15Eagles got a big one against the Cowboys next
- 11:17week in prime time. Is that Monday or Sunday?
- 11:20Yep. I mean, this division is going to come out
- 11:22to a battle. I feel like you get above 500, you're
- 11:25winning this division. So that's what it is.
- 11:27Race to 500 maybe. And zero wild card teams coming
- 11:31out of this division. Yeah, I would agree with
- 11:32that. Agreed. Let's move on to our third game
- 11:35of the week. Where the Baltimore Ravens traveled
- 11:38to the Cleveland Browns and took the loss. 13
- 11:42-10. Yep. Just go for it, Flock Doc. Give it
- 11:46to us. Give it to us straight. No chase. No chase.
- 11:52I'm going to need a chase for this at this point.
- 11:55Just, I was kind of thrown off a little. Not
- 11:59just, I was caught off guard. I was expecting
- 12:01Lamar to start. Me too. I think a lot of people
- 12:05were, if they were listening, they'd be like,
- 12:07yeah, Lamar's going to go. But Lamar wasn't the
- 12:10only injury or the only person that didn't start.
- 12:15Voorhees was kind of a laid out carryover injury
- 12:19from last game. We were hoping Cam Juergens was
- 12:23actually going to start at center. He didn't
- 12:24play. So got a banged up old line. Is he set
- 12:28to play next week, Juergens? Fingers crossed.
- 12:31He's still technically in concussion protocol.
- 12:34Sure. So it's hard to say. On the plus side,
- 12:41though, Trey Hendrickson came back and we saw
- 12:43like a staggering improvement on the defensive
- 12:48line with getting pressure on Deshaun Watson
- 12:51and stuff like that. No. consistency with the
- 12:58offense henry didn't get 20 touches which is
- 13:00what or more which is what i want to see um which
- 13:05is crazy considering you're only down but 10
- 13:07nothing for a good chunk of that first half actually
- 13:10but like you didn't need to stop giving him the
- 13:14ball oh we were up 10 nothing yeah i'm sorry
- 13:17the other way around the other way around but
- 13:18still the same concept though you don't need
- 13:20to stop giving him the ball let's just the defense
- 13:23was stopping cleveland from scoring just uh An
- 13:28unfortunate late turnover by Henry on that late
- 13:30fumble that gave Cleveland a short field to work
- 13:34with that got him that touchdown to put it at
- 13:3610. Again, special teams, mishaps with Loop missing
- 13:41the field goal. Just a myriad of things there.
- 13:45And the defense just felt like they ran out of
- 13:46gas towards the end there, which is why they
- 13:49gave up on that last drive 60 -odd yards. with
- 13:56the Cleveland getting into field goal range and
- 13:57then winning it there. So disappointing loss.
- 14:02They should have won that game. But back to the
- 14:06drawing board. But also, last season and beginning
- 14:11of this season, we've been talking about Carson
- 14:13Schlesinger. the linebacker for Cleveland. Yes.
- 14:16All game long, he was trying to rip that ball
- 14:18out of anybody and everybody's hands. He's good.
- 14:21Or punching it. And then he finally got it there
- 14:24with that Derrick Henry fumble late. So it was
- 14:28going to happen sooner or later. I just wish
- 14:30it happened sooner rather than later. Yeah, I
- 14:32mean, I watched the highlights of this game.
- 14:35I get a chance to really fall back of it. And
- 14:37then I kind of went through just the play -by
- 14:38-plays. And I just wanted to see kind of the
- 14:40possessions of that second half. And they were
- 14:42giving it to Henry first and second down a decent
- 14:46amount. But you got to give credit to the Cleveland
- 14:48Browns defense in that front seven there of really
- 14:51controlling. Because there was a lot of third
- 14:54and long situations, which you don't really want
- 14:58your backup quarterback in. And it really doesn't.
- 15:02kept them in that game that whole second half
- 15:04um so it's really interesting though now as cleveland
- 15:08fans sitting at top of the vision at four first
- 15:10place like and actually like liking your quarterback
- 15:16you know for I don't know, putting you at four
- 15:19and two. So it's really interesting. I'd like
- 15:21to know about from the dog pound. Are they fully
- 15:25on the Sean Watson bandwagon or they still got
- 15:30too many burnt britches from the past? Well,
- 15:35you got three straight away games. So I guess
- 15:38we're about to find out. Yeah. For me, I feel
- 15:42like this game. Baltimore definitely felt in
- 15:45control. And then the thing that changed it for
- 15:48me is right before halftime, actually, Huntley
- 15:51was able to get too long. Well, the one was like
- 15:56third and 10, but then the next third down was
- 15:58like third and 17 or whatever. They're able to
- 16:00convert two long third downs and keep that drive
- 16:05alive, then have to punt, whatever. And then
- 16:07Browns gave it back. Ravens still couldn't do
- 16:10anything with it. So I feel like if they would
- 16:12have scored right there, right before half, when
- 16:14it felt like they really had all the momentum
- 16:16yet. Put them away. It might have put them away
- 16:19completely. But the fact that the Browns defense
- 16:21was able to stand up right there and bend but
- 16:24not break, I think for me that really changed
- 16:27it. But, yeah, Cleveland, let's see. Titans,
- 16:31Steelers, Saints. All winnable games. For the
- 16:35Cleveland Browns, the defense. Should win all
- 16:38three of those games. Maybe the Saints shuck
- 16:41has a little bit more fun, but I feel like the
- 16:43defense alone could win those next three games,
- 16:45honestly, for Cleveland. So if Deshaun Watson
- 16:47can do, you don't, I see you already don't think
- 16:50so, but what if Deshaun Watson does what he did
- 16:52this game? Just gets it done. Just enough. Just
- 16:56enough kind of guy. Doesn't turn the ball over.
- 16:58Doesn't turn the ball over, takes care of it.
- 17:01I think the Steelers is going to be a tough win
- 17:03for them. Oh, for sure. But the Steelers don't
- 17:06always feel like they're, like, automatic like
- 17:09what's the spread going to be on that not more
- 17:11than three and a half four they the Steelers
- 17:14feel like the worst four and two team out of
- 17:16that division right now out of the three that's
- 17:19a fair I don't know and Steelers actually feel
- 17:21like the worst team in that division as a whole
- 17:23for me I feel like the I would take the bangles
- 17:26over them at this point I think Cleveland is
- 17:28going to absolutely battle them I think it's
- 17:30going to be it'll be like this game It would
- 17:32be a close battle, whatever. Yeah, I mean, Pittsburgh's
- 17:35wins are against the Falcons without PennX, Bengals,
- 17:40Colts, and Bucs. Sure, sure. I don't know. I
- 17:44would still take, like, if Cincinnati was playing
- 17:46Pittsburgh next week, I would probably take Cincinnati
- 17:48right now. I don't know. Just the vibe I'm getting.
- 17:51So, Browns, they go 3 -0 in the next three away
- 17:54games? No. 2 -1? Yeah, I think they can speed
- 17:59up to 2 -1. Okay. 0 -3 from you, Brian? No. They're
- 18:04most likely going to be the Titans. 1 -2. I'll
- 18:10give them 2 -1. I don't think 1 -2 is, I think,
- 18:14more likely. Fair enough. I believe in the Saints
- 18:17a little bit more than everybody else around
- 18:20here. Fair enough. We don't need to talk much
- 18:24more about the flock. uh game four nah we'll
- 18:27talk about the flock in our week seven preview
- 18:28and picks don't forget to check it out and we
- 18:30will get uh the flock docs take on that of course
- 18:33as always um but game four of our week what are
- 18:37we doing week six we're still doing week six
- 18:39i don't know how i've forgotten the recap um
- 18:42the bears beating the falcons 31 23 bears moving
- 18:48to four and two um That was a pretty big win
- 18:51for the Bears, to be honest with you. Obviously,
- 18:53Caleb Beck was probably the biggest storyline
- 18:55for me of that game and very efficiently moved
- 18:59the ball. Very healthy -looking he moved around
- 19:02the field. Very healthy -looking. Yeah, that's
- 19:04very good. But the Bears kind of showing you
- 19:08what they showed right away to start the season,
- 19:10some of that explosiveness there. The run game,
- 19:14we didn't. Menungai still was not ready to go.
- 19:19Johnson did all he could. Then he still were
- 19:21able to throw in a little swift. So it's whatever.
- 19:23Got it done. Still probably looking for Mnangai
- 19:25to return to kind of see if they can repeat week
- 19:29one at all this season. What do you got there,
- 19:34Roberto, on the 31 -23 win? I mean, the Bears
- 19:36came out hot. I mean, they were up 14 -0 just
- 19:38like that. And Falcons kind of showed their colors
- 19:41a little bit on that offensive side. Bears did
- 19:45an excellent job on Bijan Robinson in that first
- 19:47half to really kind of make them a little more
- 19:50one -dimensional, trying to play catch -up in
- 19:52that game. I think it was 21 -7 here all the
- 19:56way. I think it was 28 -7 going into the fourth.
- 19:5831 -7, geez. So, I mean, that's... I never really
- 20:04thought it was a game at all. I was looking through
- 20:06it. I kind of wanted to switch the game over,
- 20:09but I wished my TV station was a little different.
- 20:13We did have a bunch of fantasy guys on those
- 20:15games, too. The Bears look like they're humming.
- 20:19Caleb looks back. He had some really nice throws.
- 20:24Confident throwing the ball. I assume no on the
- 20:26All -22 on this game. No, I didn't get an All
- 20:28-22 on this one. You should. That's your homework
- 20:30for the next three weeks. All -22 won Caleb Williams'
- 20:32game. I'm just curious your thoughts. Since you
- 20:35dig into it so deep, I want to see your thoughts.
- 20:38I did more Justin Herbert All -22. I just wanted
- 20:40to see where he was at. It's got to be painful.
- 20:43It was ugly. You know what? Save that for our
- 20:45tent talk. episode let's bring that up because
- 20:48i'm curious your findings there um the bears
- 20:50they got the patriots and then they travel to
- 20:53seattle and then they got the bucks uh that patriots
- 20:56game could be an absolute battle i think that's
- 20:58a key key game i mean the next two games really
- 21:00are key for them um if they can split between
- 21:03patriots and seahawks i think i'm still feeling
- 21:05pretty high on the bears The Vikings are one
- 21:08loss away from letting another team climb into
- 21:11the NFC North at this point. Detroit's not fully
- 21:15out of it either. So these division standings
- 21:18could completely change here in the North. So
- 21:20if I'm the Bears, I'm still feeling pretty solid
- 21:22moving forward. Who do the Falcons have here
- 21:27coming up? The Niners, I think that might be
- 21:30one of our games. I can't remember. In week seven,
- 21:32I don't know. Go listen to it, find out. Niners,
- 21:35and then also at... How the hell does that work?
- 21:37Are you looking at the right one? Yeah. Well,
- 21:41I don't know. I don't know. Hold on. Stand by.
- 21:44Stand by. Oh, no. Never mind. I'm good. Yeah,
- 21:46I'm good. I'm good. Anyway, let me go back here.
- 21:50Hold on. Hold on. Sorry. Stand by. Still. Standing?
- 21:54No, you're sitting. Okay, Niners, yeah. That's
- 21:57probably going to be a tough one for Atlanta.
- 21:59Three minutes later. Yeah, right. No kidding.
- 22:00But I do feel they can at least battle and maybe
- 22:03squeak out the win against the Bucs, but I think
- 22:06that's going to be closer than Falcon fans want
- 22:09to imagine. Then it's Bengals, Chiefs, Vikings,
- 22:11so it doesn't get any easier for the Falcons.
- 22:16Safe to say they really needed that one. They're
- 22:170 -3 at home. That's got to suck for season ticket
- 22:21holders. Just every game is an L. But anyway,
- 22:23whatever. Atlanta falling to 2 -4. What does
- 22:26their division look like quick before? I know
- 22:28we already looked at it once tonight. Nobody's
- 22:31really running away with it. No. You know, so
- 22:34it's got to hang in there. If you're Atlanta,
- 22:36just hang in there. You never know. You never
- 22:38know. Real quick, we did pick this game, but
- 22:41we won't touch on it too much. But this game
- 22:43went into overtime, our official, unofficial
- 22:46game five of week six. The Seahawks traveling
- 22:49to the Broncos. Broncos able to get the win,
- 22:52like I said, in overtime. But that fourth quarter
- 22:56by Seattle was pretty insane. Yeah, it was a
- 22:59really entertaining game. What's your take on
- 23:02Bo Nix? I really wanted Nathan to be here so
- 23:05we could get his take on Bo because he's kind
- 23:07of low on Bo right now, and he was saying some
- 23:09other things to you after the show last week
- 23:12about Bo. But, Flock Doc, what's your kind of
- 23:16take on Bo Nix's current situation? Or is it
- 23:20more than Bo Nix? I think it's more than Bo Nix.
- 23:22I think it's the lack of a running game and the
- 23:25ability to at least be a common theme on the
- 23:27show. Yeah. There's no juice in that backfield.
- 23:30Right. So there's no real threat for, well, I
- 23:38still think really highly of that receiving core
- 23:40as far as stretching the field, but there's no
- 23:43real. running back threat to bring those safeties
- 23:48up so like play action is not working out for
- 23:52them this year like it was last year and i think
- 23:54that's where bo nicks really excels do you think
- 23:56broncos should be in the conversation to pick
- 24:00up a running back before the deadline if one
- 24:02becomes available and they can afford it there's
- 24:05a couple available we'll talk about in the next
- 24:06episode but do you think they should at least
- 24:08be looking at that absolutely yeah with their
- 24:12record right now and their standings there, they've
- 24:14got a chance of making the playoffs. So you have
- 24:17to be buying right now. And there's a couple
- 24:19of veteran running backs. Like I said, we'll
- 24:20talk about them that are kind of floating around
- 24:22out there in the trade sphere. Don't like that.
- 24:25They didn't work, but you know what I mean? Again,
- 24:28we'll touch on it, but Seattle on the other side
- 24:30of things. I mean, I don't want Sam Darnold throwing
- 24:36the ball 51 times. So, I mean, that's just telling
- 24:39me that there's no trust in the running game,
- 24:41even though statistically 26 for, you know, 4
- 24:45.3 average carry. But I just never felt like
- 24:47in the game that that was a true number. If I
- 24:50take the longs off that, the 18, the 13, 11,
- 24:53that number drastically changes. And that's probably
- 24:56the reality of what my eyes told me during the
- 24:58game. targets cup with 10 but i just like we
- 25:04were talking a little bit i don't i don't know
- 25:07what's with that passing game that just doesn't
- 25:10like there's a second they're missing a second
- 25:12if whether it's a tight end i don't know if cup
- 25:15just doesn't excite me enough to be a threat
- 25:18down the field Rashid had a few plays, but I
- 25:23don't know. Something feels like it's probably
- 25:25the running game where they're not getting those
- 25:28opportunities with those two high safeties playing
- 25:31against them the whole time. I will give credit
- 25:33to the Broncos. They've got a good defense, too.
- 25:36You mentioned the run game, but they're also
- 25:38not getting those running backs. involved at
- 25:41all in the passing game, at least that game at
- 25:43all. No short little, you know what I mean? Just
- 25:46at least get it in their hands, which could maybe,
- 25:48I don't know, this is a really long shot, but
- 25:50it could still open up things inside for their
- 25:53vision or something. Get the ball in their hands
- 25:55so they can get out in the open field, make some
- 25:56moves, blah, blah, blah. I don't think Wilson
- 25:58has the best hands. Price is kind of the guy
- 26:00they wanted to. Charbonnet is coming back here
- 26:03shortly. That could be huge for them. So that's
- 26:06why I think the answer is why they're not getting
- 26:07it to them because I don't think they really
- 26:09trust them in that. Matt, because I don't really
- 26:11want to. Yeah, right on. Fair enough. Seattle's
- 26:16got the Chiefs next week. So do we know is Charbonnet
- 26:19back next week? Because they could really use
- 26:21him for that one. But I think it's just talks
- 26:24that he's getting closer. Fair enough. Fair enough.
- 26:27So they got a tough one against Casey. Another
- 26:29tough one against the Bears. They go play the
- 26:32Cardinals, which you never know what you're going
- 26:34to get when you play Arizona right now. I don't
- 26:38know. It could be tough sledding for Seattle.
- 26:41Or the Rams aren't the Rams we thought they were
- 26:43going to be. That's true. It's very true. Yeah,
- 26:45do we see, are we going to see a year where Arizona
- 26:49beats out the Rams within their own division?
- 26:51It's possible. Rams are fourth right now in their
- 26:54division. And the Rams, or not the Rams, the
- 26:58Cardinals have more wins at SoFi Stadium this
- 27:00year than the Chargers and Rams combined. Yikes.
- 27:05That's, yeah. And with the news that came out
- 27:09of the Rams today, it doesn't get any better.
- 27:13Tune in for the next episode there to check out
- 27:16what Roberto over there is talking about. Or
- 27:18just Google it right now because you probably
- 27:19figured it out. But the Broncos, they travel
- 27:23to Arizona and then also have the Chiefs and
- 27:26then the Panthers. So also for them, it doesn't
- 27:28get any easier as well. So we really wanted Nathan's
- 27:33putt here. Curious on... what record he would
- 27:36give them the next three weeks, I'm going to
- 27:39assume one and two. Because he feels very low
- 27:43on the Broncos right now as his home squad. What
- 27:47did you say? 200 and 0. 200 and 0? Yep, that's
- 27:52what he said. Right on. Let's see. Well, that
- 27:56would be it. We'll also give this little update
- 27:59here in the... in the week seven preview episode
- 28:03but in case for whatever reason you don't listen
- 28:05to it you should um last well i finally did all
- 28:09the standings and crap for our picks only took
- 28:12me six weeks but it's done it's there um i don't
- 28:16know kev you're not putting it up are you maybe
- 28:18yeah great yeah well yeah no it's all good um
- 28:24as you see there spotify listeners don't look
- 28:27it's fine you don't need to go look but smelty
- 28:29right there at the top with all the red there
- 28:30oh and five last week so good thing i have a
- 28:33podcast we talk football um but anyway uh dom
- 28:38actually if you don't know who dom is you should
- 28:40probably go listen to the first two weeks because
- 28:42homie went eight no he's had three perfect weeks
- 28:45this season i can't believe i'm giving him his
- 28:47flowers like this is unbelievable um but dom
- 28:49is complete is 17 and eight right now leading
- 28:52the pack it is then followed by let's see here
- 28:55looks like Roberto and technically Nathan are
- 28:59tied, but Roberto has a 15 -10 record. Nathan's
- 29:04only 3 -2, but same win percentage. And then
- 29:07it falls to Jake, who is 13 -12, right? Hot on
- 29:11Rob's tail there. And me, hot on Jake's tail.
- 29:14Actually, I don't like how I'm saying that. I'm
- 29:1712 -13, bringing up the caboose. So, you know,
- 29:21somebody's got to do it. But before this week,
- 29:23though. If we go back and take a look at some
- 29:25weeks, Roberto and I were tied for the last two
- 29:29weeks or three weeks straight. I think we had
- 29:33the same season record for three after each week,
- 29:36three weeks in a row. Jake was right there with
- 29:39us for two of those three weeks, so we're right
- 29:41there, fellas. But if you go back and look, I
- 29:43think we had a lot of the same picks back then,
- 29:45too. Yeah. It's just a really difficult season
- 29:48as far as pick -ems go. Especially if you're
- 29:52doing survivor pick 'ems. Oh, yeah. Good luck.
- 29:57I bet you how many people lost on the Rams in
- 30:00the Cardinals game this week. Too many. All of
- 30:03them. Well, with that, fellas, thanks for being
- 30:06here for this week six recap episode. You're
- 30:09welcome. Jake, Flock Doc. Yeah, we're flocking.
- 30:13Flocking. A little disappointed flock this week,
- 30:17but maybe a little positive flock heading into
- 30:18next week. Yeah, there's things to look forward
- 30:21to, but there's still a lot of work. A lot of
- 30:23things to improve to. A lot of work. Don't forget
- 30:26to check out Week 7 Preview Show. Jake will tell
- 30:29you all about it. Roberto. Thanks, Coach. That's
- 30:33right. That's right. He doesn't do it on the
- 30:36end, though. He only does it on the intro, so
- 30:37that was me messing it up. But then he didn't
- 30:40do the full horns, though, either. What? Did
- 30:42he not? That's the point of my wife and kids
- 30:44at home. Love you. Good job. That's where he
- 30:48is right now. Anyway, Kev, you're getting everything
