- 1:40and two from Hollywood. It's time now for Johnny, Johnny was a break?
- 1:49It might be away for the weekend. What was that iron kad in
- 1:52a coastal maritime in life? Oh? Hello, byan, How I think's
- 1:55in Boston? God Harbor? Terrible? What Meg McCarthy who runs an eating
- 2:00place there at the harbor? Murder? Mayam Marson? Or what? Right?
- 2:04Now? It's? Or what? But if you don't do something and
- 2:06fast it maybe all three? Can you come over and see me now?
- 2:09Bye? I know it's Saturday afternoon, Johnny, but this needs fast action.
- 2:13Will you bye? Goodbye? No bye? Listen you Dollar, You're
- 2:19a sucker tonight and every weekday night Bob Bailey in the Transcribed Adventures of the
- 2:30Man with the Action Packed Expense Accoud America's Fabulous freelance insurance investigator, Yours True
- 2:37Johnny Dollar expense account submitted by Special Investigator Johnny Dollar, location cod Harbor,
- 2:54Massachusetts, the inter Coastal Maritime and Life Insurance Company. Following is an accounting
- 3:00of expenses incurred during my investigation of the Meg's Palace Matter expense account Item one
- 3:08seven dollars and thirty cents cab from my apartment trained Farness and Etels to Boston.
- 3:14Barron Kay was a good insurance broker, and I figured he wouldn't have
- 3:15called me over a weekend unless it was pretty important. To get right to
- 3:19the point, Johnny, insurance on the palace is only for fifteen thousand dollars.
- 3:22Wait a minute, buy what is this palace a fishing boat? No,
- 3:25it's what Meg McCarthy calls her restaurant, right down on the dock Cod
- 3:29Harvey. You say, that's right. Well, what seems to be the
- 3:31trouble over there that couldn't wait till after the weekend. Well, like I
- 3:35told you, this character Meg McCarthy runs a so called restaurant down on the
- 3:38docks, the palace. I sold her fifteen thousand insurance on it, and
- 3:42Johnny, it's quite a place. What do you mean by that? We
- 3:46also carry twenty five thousand straight life insurance on Meg yourself separate policy, of
- 3:50course, which one are you worried about by both? I think, huh.
- 3:53Matter of fact, the more I think about it, the gladder I
- 3:55am that you didn't fall from my pitch when I tried to get her to
- 3:59increase the coverage and the she had next would really be out. Well,
- 4:01it's a matter. Isn't it worth fifteen thousand? Now? Oh? Sure?
- 4:04At least even if it doesn't look it. You know, the stove's
- 4:09equipment and all that sort of stuff are in the coverage too. Then I'm
- 4:12afraid I don't see what thing is this, Johnny, Meg has been threatened
- 4:15by home Ah who knows anyhow. She's notified me that there have been a
- 4:19couple of attempts to set fire to replace. Since she lives upstairs in it,
- 4:23that means danger to her own life too. And the whole forty thousand
- 4:27is at stay. Yes, will you go up there right away and see
- 4:30what you can do today, tomorrow, Sunday. Look, maybe you can
- 4:32get in some fishing. I understand you're quite efficient. Were the last three
- 4:36times I was promised fishing while working on a case? All I did was
- 4:40cut bait proposition. If you don't get in at least a full day's fishing
- 4:44trip while you're up there, I'll double whatever you line up on your expense
- 4:46account. Sounds mighty tempting me, how about it, Johnny? Okay,
- 4:51by you asked for it. Item two eleven ninety five. Transportation back to
- 4:58Hartford, then on to Cod High for the next morning. Fine way to
- 5:00spend a nice warm sunday. Nice place too if you lost your sense of
- 5:04smell. There which was three dozen fishing boats of all shapes and sizes,
- 5:09tied up with the long dock and piers that comprise the important part of the
- 5:11village for housing. There was a scattering of weather beaten shacks. One store,
- 5:16Meg's Palace turned out to be the biggest, most disreputable looking of the
- 5:20dock side eating places, and since it was a closed sign on the front
- 5:24door, I went around to the back. Can I tell you the clean
- 5:30and level joined your water's face? I see, can tired of looking at
- 5:34that? No, look here, mag I I just come back to for
- 5:40the next time. That means he's currently crew of the Lily and comes in
- 5:43here and gets drunk and roars and carries on and busts up me. Fine
- 5:46glass were in China. Just say nothing of a couple of woods, and
- 5:49listen to me, darling you, darling me, your pig face squint put
- 5:55on the frying pile, sir, not until you get your filthy hide out
- 5:59of here. None in a respectable joint, and the lights of you and
- 6:01the tail the crew of yours. I've got no place in it. What's
- 6:04more, and furthermore, I won't have you around to pay for the damagement
- 6:10boys did last night. Now, hey, that's pay for the loss of
- 6:14me dignity to say nothing of your Get out of here? Will I get
- 6:18out? Okay? Here's your here's your money. Man who wants your offensible
- 6:25money? Put down the frying I put it down? Will you boy?
- 6:29If you don't get out here, I excuse me, Ms McCarthy. Ain't
- 6:47he darling? Ain't he the sweetest man you ever did see? The man
- 6:55you just threw out of here? And that only comes into apologize. What
- 6:58brings the money to pay for them? It is Frank and boys done last
- 7:01night when they were celebrating the big catch they made. Lovely bunch of lads.
- 7:05They are, to every one of them as loyal to Willieboy. Now,
- 7:11who the devil are you? And what's the big idea of barging in
- 7:15here on a Sunday when anybody with eyes and his stupid head can see that
- 7:17the place is closed? Your eyes are blind in your head you couldn't see
- 7:23the sign out front, and sneaking in here the backway this way? Who
- 7:26do you think you are? Now, get out and leave a lady alone
- 7:30of a Sunday. Go on, don't get tough with me, Meg McCarthy.
- 7:32Just put down that part and shut up for a minute while I tell
- 7:35you why I'm here. Put it down. She's me, dear departed over
- 7:43barn husband. Yes, sir, after all, I should have noticed you're
- 7:48a gent standing by the way. You don't while me and Bill was at
- 7:51its hilter and skelter. Oh but he's a dead one, ain't he Well?
- 7:57At this point I wouldn't know, but from when I saw him.
- 7:59Minute, don't let that fool you, Deary. We're in love me and
- 8:01Willie Boy, ain't he living doll? A fine fine husband is going to
- 8:05make me too. That's why I made him the beneficiary of my life insurance.
- 8:09Palid. That's exactly what I want to talk to you about. Then
- 8:13go ahead and talk. What's stopping You're standing there like a bunty rooster?
- 8:16That doesn't you shut up? Will of course I will, deary, and
- 8:22then begging your humble pardon. But if there's anything I hate, it's a
- 8:26little livered man that happens. Yes, sir, I'm sorry and listen.
- 8:33Yes, my name is Dollar, Johnny Dollar. I'm an insurance investig insurance
- 8:37investigatory. Well, in spite and despite of you're pretty close in peace and
- 8:41manner. I don't want any of a no, no, you don't understand.
- 8:43I got all I can have and from the looks of things these past
- 8:48shut up a minute, of course, deary, I'm sorry you call the
- 8:52insurance company, mister byron K and Inner Coastal Maritime get their little pastey faced
- 8:58Byron boy. Why do you know if he had half the gut some get
- 9:01he man, he would have sold me twice the insurance he did. Well,
- 9:03that's not quite the way he told it to me. Well it's the
- 9:05way I'm telling it to you. What am I going to do, darling?
- 9:11If they place the way they're trying. Oh, this Willie boy as
- 9:16you call him, who was just in here, that's a feminine What is
- 9:18Captain Billy Morgan? Bill? To you? And any man? What will
- 9:24you and stop yapping your head off and answer my question? Yes, sir,
- 9:28now, is Captain Bill Morgan one of the people you suspected trying to
- 9:33wreck this ugly looking hash house? Oh love you boy? You talked like
- 9:39a real sweet over Ben made and answer my question, Well, of course
- 9:45he ain't. Willie Boy wouldn't hurt me anymore than I'd touch a hair of
- 9:48his pretty head if he had a hair on top of it. All right,
- 9:50then who yuhnny boy? There's a dozen of him like to see.
- 9:54Makes palace burn to the ground, blest the black seeven? So what because
- 10:00I give them the best and the most food in the harbor, that's what
- 10:03the man gets here. So what happens to the silver plate and Ernie's manor
- 10:07house and Irvin's chops he joint? Well, I'm putting them out of business,
- 10:09that's what. So you think they're trying to put you out of business?
- 10:11You think? Can I know it? That's why I telephone that's sniveling
- 10:16up your buyer and Kate to send somebody down here and make them stop it
- 10:20before you had to pay off a lot of insurance on it, and maybe
- 10:22even on me. Why else do you think there have been some attempts to
- 10:26set the place on fire? I understand. Why else do you think a
- 10:28lady like myself would take to sleeping on the bar down here every night,
- 10:31getting a creak and may sake readily up. But I'm getting sick and fed
- 10:35up with it. I blame trying to keep awake all night every night to
- 10:39keep them from burning it out from under me and me whether it's making a
- 10:43fair shadow of me for herself out of me, I'm losing my strength.
- 10:46Look, while we talk, I'll help you clear up some of this.
- 10:48Well, the devil you Will's not the man's job, especially since she ain't
- 10:52romantically inclined towards me. But you would let Bill Morgan clean up for you.
- 10:58She was the cause of it, wasn't he. Sophie and his boys
- 11:01don't show up before nightfall and take care of it, So help me,
- 11:03I'll kill all of them everyone. Besides, he's going to be me old
- 11:07man when the fishing season's done. He's got to know how to keep in
- 11:09line. Now, now you say there are people you suspect to trying to
- 11:15fire this building. See all right? Three? Who are they? The
- 11:18owners of the other restaurants here on the docks? Right? First? This
- 11:22clean Harris? What runs the silver plate? Oh? And the sly one
- 11:28he is? I mean he's too soft and polite and soft spook me.
- 11:33I never trust a man unless he talks up like a man. I guess
- 11:35that's why. Like you, dear, are the others near Turner at the
- 11:39manor House cafe, at the big place down at the other end, the
- 11:43little hole in the war next to the bait stand, and half the time
- 11:46the customers don't know whether they're getting bad food or thawt out bait. And
- 11:52the third one, that stubborn mule that runs Irving's Chop Suey joined having o.
- 11:58What's his last name? Irving? This names Tony. Wait a minute,
- 12:03what you please? Sure Tony fourteen? No Italian? Then why is
- 12:07it why a Chop Suey place? Anybody has eyes? You wold? I
- 12:11saw how the sign was changed. First the Chinese had it with Chop Suey,
- 12:13then came Irving with kosher, so he added his name to it,
- 12:16and now it's total only there wasn't any more room left on the sign.
- 12:20So stop complaining, okay, But have you any specific reason to suspect any
- 12:26one of them? One of them? I suspect them all the dirty cannive,
- 12:30and why because they're a dirty canive. And I will tell you why,
- 12:35because they won't sell out to me. Because they are three keep open
- 12:39competing with me, and that's three against one. So they're a dirty well,
- 12:43aren't they? How all right? Yes, sir? When you speak
- 12:52to me that so you said? Now, I asked you if you have
- 12:56any specific reason for suspecting any one or all of them? Corse I have,
- 13:00and a gout of the threats they sent. How do you know they
- 13:01sent them? Because they suspect them, that's why. And what happens three
- 13:05times they tried to set fire Meg, You don't have one bit of actual
- 13:09evidence against any of them, do you? Well? Do you no?
- 13:13But I suspect a dirty cattle. Please? Are you sure those fires weren't
- 13:18accidental? Accidental? With all the dirt and grease you leave around this in
- 13:22the middle of the night with a stove fire bank like I've been doing it
- 13:24for twenty years, and with all the fires starting outside where they have no
- 13:28business. Look, Johnny boy, I'll show you where they started outside.
- 13:31Well, now that's a good idea, because so fine, confess I can't
- 13:33get very much alarmed, don't the whole town? No, I'm closed on
- 13:39Sundays. Hello, And what kind of a blubberheaded income poop would be callin
- 13:46Makes Palace on a Sunday when everybody knows. Oh, of course, the
- 13:54gentleman's right here. It's for you, Johnny Boy. Oh hello, Johnny
- 14:01Dollar. We know why you're here. Dollar. Oh yeah, who's we?
- 14:05But you won't be here long understand. Well that's a matter of opinion,
- 14:09isn't it. Either you go quiet the way you came, or you're
- 14:11going a long wooden box. Get it? What is it, Johnny Boy,
- 14:20Come on, legg let's get to work. Johnny Dollar. Byron K
- 14:41and Boston. Johnny Hi, the operator had quite a time locating you.
- 14:45I don't see why I'm in the only available room for rent here in Cott
- 14:48Harbor. Huh, well, she said she was ringing Make's Palace Restaurant.
- 14:50That's where I am. Room is right above the place. Well tell me,
- 14:54have you found out whether it's true somebody is trying to burn up that
- 14:56joint put Make out of business. Not only that by, but whoever's behind
- 15:00the attempts to get her out of the way is threatened to get me.
- 15:03Hey, hey, want some help? Yeah, yeah, I want you
- 15:05to send me something by trucks soon as possible, and I want to be
- 15:09sure it arrives here quietly at night, so that nobody in this little fishing
- 15:13village knows it arrives. Listen carefully, by and I'll tell you. I
- 15:16want you to seventy six from Special Investigator Johnny Dollar, location, Cod Harbor,
- 15:28Massachusetts to the Inner Coastal Maritime and Life Insurance Company, Boston Assignment the
- 15:33makes Palace Matter expense account continued expense account. Adam, Well, since you're
- 15:43paying for and sending that btch of fire extinguishers Byron, I can highly charge
- 15:48them to my expense account, can I? But I have a sneaking suspicion
- 15:50they might be mighty important. A cursory inspection of this tiny fishing community is
- 15:56revealed, no sign of a firehouse, nothing in fact, but some hoes
- 15:58canne for cleaning off the docks. And after the threats Mike McCarthy has received,
- 16:03plus a couple of attempts to fire up this disreputable looking establishment of hers,
- 16:08well, I guess I still have some boy scout blood in my veins.
- 16:12In view of the threat to me, I figured it might be a
- 16:15good idea to consult the local authorities. I learned a long time ago that
- 16:18it's a good plan to enlist their cooperation. We're working in a strange small
- 16:22community. Inquiries from some of the fishermen mending their nets spread out in the
- 16:26long wharf led me to a small, shabby, unmarked frame shack that stood
- 16:30about a block away from the waterfront. Come here, come here, that's
- 16:37right. What's your name? Johnny dollar dollars? Okay, what do you
- 16:44want? Well, you're the chief of police. I understand, acting chief
- 16:48of police, acting mayor two and acting judge, acting town clerk, acting
- 16:53just about anything else you could want. I don't get it. Well,
- 16:56I don't know why not officially, I guess card Harvey is just a part
- 17:00of Barnsborough, a couple of miles inland. We're so small and we're not
- 17:04incorporated like most towns, so we just have to be kind of self sufficient
- 17:10under ourselves. You see what I mean? And you know something, it
- 17:14works out pretty good. Yeah, well, I guess it. Says chief
- 17:18as acting Chief of Police, that I've come to see you for about the
- 17:22Make's Palace cafe and you take any stock and Mags talk about somebody threatening to
- 17:26burn up that cockroads loaded dump she calls a restaurant. I'm representing the insurance
- 17:32company that holds fifteen thousand dollars insurance on it. Ever come to your mind,
- 17:36mister Dollar, that made your own self might have set the fires to
- 17:40collect that insurance and call for help? Is the cover up? Yeah?
- 17:42Yeah, the thought has entered my mind, just crazy enough to do a
- 17:45thing like that too. Hasn't she been to you for help? She told
- 17:48me? Oh what sort of evidence? One way or another? Have you
- 17:52turned up? Dollar? I haven't looked for any Yeah? What the less
- 17:56I'm medal in their affairs are less trouble I have with the folks here in
- 18:00cod Hopper. Oh hey, now, wait a minute. From mayor and
- 18:03police chief and so on. You don't seem to be very concerned about these
- 18:07people of yours. Oh maybe I'm not. What's the difference? Well,
- 18:10look here, you know, unless something serious happened, like a murderer or
- 18:15or a fire that destroyed makes palace and maybe half the docks, don't you
- 18:18think that sort of thing is serious? Well, yeah, if it happens,
- 18:22then i'd probably have to call in the regular point of authorities over to
- 18:26Barsborough. But there hasn't been any fire yet, not any real one.
- 18:30So why get your dander up. I'll look with so little concern about the
- 18:36place. How did you ever get all those jobs? Easy? Lost my
- 18:41schooler out on the banks last fall. So for one or something better,
- 18:45I just took it. You took them all? Why not? The town
- 18:48feeds and bores me, and I like it so real, soft, lazy,
- 18:52good for a nother life. Huh sure? Now, why don't you
- 18:56be a good boy, Dollar and leave things be around here? Vote in
- 19:00my time? Well, just let me take enough of your valuable time to
- 19:03ask a couple of questions. Sure, go ahead, no harm and ask
- 19:07it. I want to know about some of the people here in kott Harbor,
- 19:10Like who Clem Harris for one? Careful boy, that's my cousin.
- 19:15Who else? Ernie Turner and Tony fourteen? O oh? Account of them?
- 19:21The three that run the other dirty bites along the doc. Yeah,
- 19:25I'd like a rundown on all three of them. Easy, yeah, yeah,
- 19:27go talk to him on. I'll wait a minute. You're just way
- 19:30I know, up for you to find out all about him. You're a
- 19:33lot of help, Dollar, Like I said, we're kind of self sufficient
- 19:38under ourselves around here. We like it that way, and that's just another
- 19:44way of saying, we don't like strangers coming here and messing around in our
- 19:48affair. Well, that was pretty definitely that. It was getting quite late,
- 19:56and I decided I'd better postpone any interviews with Makes business rivals until the
- 19:59following morning. Besides, as I walked along the wharf, I noticed that
- 20:03they were closed. Then I remembered somebody else I wanted to talk to the
- 20:07beneficiary of Make McCarthy's life insurance policy, the master of the fishing boat Lily
- 20:11Inn, Captain Billy Morgan. But the Lilian, tied up at her berth
- 20:15was dark and empty. Well, if anyone knew where Captain Billy was,
- 20:18it'd be make herself. So I walked the boards back to Make's palace.
- 20:22What greeted me as I opened the back door of the place was truly a
- 20:26sight to behold. Over There in the corner, eye Off, standing in
- 20:37the center of the floor, brandishing a more beaten feather duster as if it
- 20:41were a club, stood tempting Billy Morgan, shouting orders to three men that
- 20:45were cleaning up the mess of pots and fans and broken crockery left over from
- 20:48Meg McCarthy's temper tampent for a short while earlier when she belabored this same tempting
- 20:52belief for a little celebration he and his crew had had and their played the
- 20:56night before labored it looked like she must have one of everything in the joint
- 21:00out go Hey, Cinda, Billy, Hey, hey, oh oh you
- 21:11see you here earlier today when Meg throwed me out. Now looks to me
- 21:14like you weren't all she threw. Yes, sir, she's a living dollar.
- 21:18Okay, see, ain't you the insurance hands you telephone to help her
- 21:22find out who's trying to burn her out of here? Their names Johnny Dollar,
- 21:26Ain't that's right? And Clampton, I'd like to ask your favorite Tolly
- 21:30a yellow belly bug, eyes bandy wasted? Don't throw that crash in the
- 21:36corner. What's going out on you? Sorry, mister Dollar, but I
- 21:41guess you boys don't like working the night. When he got to be up
- 21:44on the board, little Anne and headed out for the fishing banks by three
- 21:47am in the morning, don't blame him. We couldn't leave makes place in
- 21:51a mess like this, now, could we? After all, he's gonna
- 21:55have to service coffee and sinkers before we go upstairs. I've been for the
- 22:00last hour in that room she's renting out to you, figured like maybe it
- 22:04could stand some cleaning up and debugging. I guess she figured right. I'll
- 22:08ast her. What my pole here, I'll ringing her on your bloody neck
- 22:12and swam off them tables while straight to cantch. You see the message left
- 22:17on him? What can I do for you? Mister donar? Look?
- 22:21Why don't you and I go into the kitchen, captain where we can hear
- 22:23ourselves think? Oh sure? Why not? All right? Now? You
- 22:26keep out at your sowbelly longheads? How if the tide ain't clean and tidy
- 22:30when I come back oppressed? You all love the least humbers. Real fine
- 22:38bunch of boys I got there, ain't they? How bie? Are they?
- 22:41You bet? You're sweet? Living life? They our finest crew on
- 22:45any boat in the harbor, Charlie Ole in Montgomier. Now what was it
- 22:51you wanted, mister dollar? You found out anything about who's causing all the
- 22:55worries to my lover girl? Not very much yet? Well I hope you
- 22:59do, do you? I don't get you. I'm gonna be honest with
- 23:04you lay all the currents right on the table. Well that's the only way
- 23:07I always say. All right, I'm just as concerned about mega self as
- 23:11I am about this cafe. Sure you are me too, whether you like
- 23:15it or not. I have to consider the fact that you are the beneficiary
- 23:18of makes twenty five thousand dollars life insurance policy if anything would have happened to
- 23:22her. Sure, I see what you mean. You bet your life.
- 23:30I see what you mean. Why you blasted loving son of ihurt one single
- 23:36hair? Megma cut Dollar? You make crash like that? If swab the
- 23:40decks with that born rehire to yours and Fiji put him up, put them
- 23:42up. Dollar. You want to talk to me, I say, bright
- 23:45down, captain, let's talk sent a minute. Box sense. Yeah,
- 23:47but don't you go implicating that I didn't imply a thing yet. Well,
- 23:51yes, what do you think you're talking to like that? The guests to
- 23:56be humblest time. I'm sorry Megdarland, but are you from those poor boys
- 24:00of yours with the cleaner up? But they're almost finished up. Get out
- 24:04of here and get your sleep. You'll not be worth your salt on the
- 24:07boat. I like to talk to Captain Billy tomorrow. Go out in the
- 24:11boat with him in the morning, and I'll have plenty of time to talk.
- 24:15I want to talk to you I get out with them. Go on,
- 24:18yes, dear, I'll see you at the doctor three in the morning.
- 24:27As Johnny boy. You go out with them, Please give me a
- 24:32chance to fix your room up really nice for you, like I should be
- 24:34for a gentleman like yourself. Okay, Meg, Come to think of it,
- 24:38I was promise the fishing trip on this case anyways, or not to
- 24:41be worrying about any fires tonight with you staying here. So if you don't
- 24:47mind, I'll retire to my bed and see you at breakfast time. Okay,
- 24:51maybe I can help Billy's crew finish cleaning up and the Oh don't you
- 24:55lift a finger. It was a twilly boy. I told them plates and
- 24:59things, so and his crew and clean it up. Good night, Johnny
- 25:03Pool. There's food in the ice box in your beds are I stood there
- 25:11for a moment, smiling after her. Then I decided I'd take her advice
- 25:15and instead of helping the men clean up the cafe, I'd get a breath
- 25:18of fresh air before hitting the sack. The moon was just a thin sliver
- 25:23in the eastern sky, and the stars twinkled merrily in the broad, clear
- 25:26expanse. Overhead, the cottages of the peaceful little fishing village were dark.
- 25:33Along the docks at the waterfront, the fishing boats playfully nudged each other as
- 25:37they slowly and quietly swung and rolled on the gently heaving water. Their mass
- 25:41and rigging formed an intricate, ever changing pattern against the occasional beam from the
- 25:45lighthouse and the point as it lazily swept across the night. Somewhere far out
- 25:49on the land with breeze, an occasional seabird called It was also peaceful and
- 25:56serene that I couldn't help wondering how trouble would ever come to a Then I
- 26:00saw it, a slight movement at the front corner of the old building.
- 26:03A silhouette hunched over tensely watching the front door, waiting, waiting for home.
- 26:08Slowly, as quietly as possible, I crept up on whoever it was,
- 26:11hoping in the dim light to recognize him or her before I was discovered.
- 26:17Softly I passed the side door. I could still hear the members of
- 26:19the crew inside of their work, but in my concentration the person out front,
- 26:23I was too slow in my reaction when that side door suddenly opened behind
- 26:26me. What who oh? You very suddenly it got very dark. Now
- 26:49here's our star to tell you about tomorrow's episode of this week's story. Tomorrow
- 26:53a trip to sea in the Lilyanne that starts out like an ordinary fishing trip,
- 26:59but some were on board leks a man with murder in his heart and
- 27:03his next intended victim me join us, won't you? Yours Truly Johnny Dollar.
- 27:27Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, starring Bob Bailey, is transcribed in Hollywood.
- 27:33It is produced and directed by Jack Jemstone, who also wrote this week's story.
- 27:38Be sure to join us tomorrow night at same time in station for the
- 27:42next exciting episode of Yours Truly Johnny Dollar. Roy Rowan speaking welcome back,
- 28:45well if you had any doubt. The actress playing this role is Virginia Greg.
- 28:52Virginia Greg. Of course, we've heard her in a lot of roles
- 28:56in Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, as well as other series, playing roles
- 29:00such as fem fatales or beautiful damsels. Here definitely a bit of a departure,
- 29:10and I just as I'm listening to this, I have to imagine Virginia
- 29:12greg was having a blast with this character, and she would occasionally get these
- 29:22roles. I think a lot in her later years when you look at the
- 29:26drag net work from the nineteen sixties on television, that there were certain roles
- 29:32she got she just seemed to really sink her teeth into. She could do
- 29:38great dramatic parts, but when you gave her a role that had a flare
- 29:45of comedy to it in different characterizations, she could just go to town.
- 29:51And I think that's definitely coming through here in this story. But obviously Johnny
- 29:56is in a mystery, and the fact that the person who's hostly the law
- 30:00doesn't care very much, well, that doesn't bode well. We'll find out
- 30:03what will happen to Johnny on Wednesday. And then I have a comment that
- 30:10sent through from Sharon just discovered Johnny Dollar on tune in radio and really like
- 30:15the commentary. Well, thanks so much, Sharon, I appreciate your comments.
- 30:19That'll actually do it for today. We will be back tomorrow with the
- 30:23Casebook of Gregory Hood and as I said, Wednesday will continue on with the
- 30:29makes Palace Matter. Also coming up this Saturday, we'll be playing for you
- 30:33Homicide Okaine, so be sure and listen to that. In the meantime,
