Danger alert for Brownlee and Hells Canyon reservoirs—health officials warn toxic algae blooms are active, with cyanobacteria releasing dangerous toxins. Stay out of the water entirely, including swimming or wading. Pets and livestock are also at risk; symptoms range from skin irritation to vomiting and dizziness. Boiling or filtering won’t remove the toxins—don’t drink or cook with the water. If animals get exposed, rinse them off immediately.
