- 1:08heal from addiction.
- 1:09And she is going to share her practical deep wisdom with us today as we talk all about the weapons of spiritual warfare.
- 1:17Here's our layout for today's episode.
- 1:20First, we're going to talk about the weapon of discernment, unmasking who the true enemy is and how he tricks us.
- 1:27Second, we're going to talk about the weapon of the Savior and we're going to take a deep dive look at Jesus and how being yoked to him helps us unlock seven powerful combat ready provisions.
- 1:41Third, we're going to discuss the weapon of the word of God that you can apply and use with everyone from toddler age, teens and even with your independent adult children and spouse.
- 1:53But first, let's kick it off by talking about our very first weapon, that of discernment on the battlefield.
- 1:59So often when a spiritual attack hits us and our family, the enemy tricks us into looking at our spouse or our kids as the source of our pain.
- 2:09Let's listen as Amy shares a powerful, vulnerable story of how she was spirit beating her husband instead of fighting the real enemy.
- 2:19I was under a severe spiritual attack 10 years ago now and I remember feeling like my husband was causing so many problems for me.
- 2:32Like I felt like he was the cause of the spiritual attack.
- 2:36And I one day knelt down and was just sobbing, just crying out to the Lord and he just softly said, he's the only light in your world right now about my husband.
- 2:50And I was like, huh?
- 2:53Like, how could that be?
- 2:56That doesn't, that does not match what I'm sure I was feeling.
- 2:59And at that time I realized that he was using me to spirit be to put Blair under spiritual attack.
- 3:07Because I was positive in the spiritual attack I was under that Blair he was the enemy, so to speak.
- 3:13And it was not true.
- 3:16So I think sometimes the person that is my first thought hates me and attacks me is actually my biggest ally.
- 3:28And so I actually have started to learn to look for resources and support in unlikely places because I've really learned that the adversary absolutely wants me to turn against my biggest asset.
- 3:44Well, my friends, that is a massive wake up call for all of us.
- 3:47The person we may be attacking is often our greatest earthly asset, but once we stop fighting each other, we can look to the greatest weapon we have in our Jesus Christ.
- 4:00In Romans, chapter 8, verse 34, the apostle Paul writes, who is he that condemneth?
- 4:08It is Christ that died, yea, rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
- 4:19Wow, my friends, as we are yoked to the Savior, he makes intercession for us and he has a massive armory of spiritual tools and weapons that he can open up to us.
- 4:32Here are seven that I picked for today's episode to talk about.
- 4:37First, when we feel weak, we can lean on him for supernal strength.
- 4:43This verse can be found in Philippians chapter 4, verse 13, where it says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
- 4:52Second, when we are weighed down by the bondage of sin, we can be made clean through the power of repentance and forgiveness as promised in Isaiah, chapter 1, verse 18.
- 5:04Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
- 5:09Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
- 5:15Powerful weapon to remember.
- 5:17Weapon number three when we are entirely exhausted, we can yoke ourselves to him and he will help us pull that heavy load with us.
- 5:28I love the verses that talk about this in Matthew, chapter 11, verses 28 through 30.
- 5:35Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- 5:40Take my yoke upon me and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
- 5:49Beautiful reminder of yoking ourselves to the Savior.
- 5:53Number four.
- 5:53Tool to use when we feel unworthy or when the enemy throws shameful thoughts at us, we can cling to Jesus Christ.
- 6:02Open invitation to come unto him, and this is mentioned all throughout the New Testament.
- 6:09Simply come the adversary wants to stop us from coming unto him, so he'll place lies in your head like you've made too many mistakes, you're unworthy he doesn't love you anymore.
- 6:22You've broken too many commandments.
- 6:24But I want you at that time to cling to the tool of remembering to come.
- 6:33And he is always beckoning you to return, no matter what.
- 6:38The fifth tool we can use when we are worried that we can cast upon him all our care because he deeply cares for us as we read in first Peter, chapter five, verse seven.
- 6:51Our sixth tool is that we can use for when we are grieving that Jesus Christ Himself will step in and heal us and trade the oil of joy for mourning, as it says in Isaiah chapter 61, verse 3.
- 7:09And when we need physical backup to fight our battles, we have his divine protection as promised in Psalm 34.
- 7:187.
- 7:19The angel the Lord encampeth around about them that fear him and delivereth them.
- 7:26He is our physical and spiritual backup in these battles.
- 7:30So you may be wondering, how do I tap into this amazing power and weapons of Jesus Christ?
- 7:36It is not a secret formula.
- 7:38We do it through prayer, daily connection, studying his word and striving to obey his commandments so that he abides with us.
- 7:48And one of the most practical ways we can carry his presence with us is by learning to chew on his words as Amy so delightfully phrases it.
- 7:58Let's now head back and have Amy share how to weaponize the power of the Scriptures at every age and stage of mothering the Scriptures.
- 8:08I can't understand and hear the voice of the Lord as well if I don't know the language of God.
- 8:16By learning the language of God, by not just reading, chewing on the scriptures and tasting what they taste like, it's more than just, oh, I read it.
- 8:28So you have your littles.
- 8:30Just read them, pray with them.
- 8:32Just don't worry if they're getting it.
- 8:33Just read and pray with it.
- 8:35Then when you have teenagers get in the scriptures yourself.
- 8:40Because there were so many times where I would be having a conversation with my teen and the glazed look started to come over them and then the Spirit would bring remembrance of scripture.
- 8:54And I would say, it's just like this.
- 8:56And I'd say the Scripture.
- 8:58And they.
- 9:00And I didn't know, but God knew that scripture meant something to that kid.
- 9:07And now that they're adults and they're doing their own thing, literally their own thing.
- 9:14Because that's what adults do, right?
- 9:15We do our own thing.
- 9:17We are all of a sudden we don't have to listen to mom and dad and it takes us a minute to catch up that there is a God we want to be listening to who is our parent.
- 9:27But now that they're doing their own thing for me, it's the word of God that keeps me from being so preachy and focuses on my change.
- 9:38And I think that that's what we forget.
- 9:41We get so focused on our fear of what our children are going to do or are doing or our husbands or whoever, that we actually start fighting for the wrong side because fear is of Satan.
- 9:55And so if we will just get in the scriptures and learn and change and become who we can become through faith in Jesus Christ, we can stand fast and be a warrior of light instead of a problem, for
- 10:12lack of a better word.
- 10:13And I just, I know that's true.
- 10:15I've lived it.
- 10:16I am living it right now.
- 10:19Well, my friend, if we stop acting out of fear, we can stop fighting the wrong side.
- 10:24When you step into your identity as a warrior of light, you don't have to carry the weight of this war on your shoulders.
- 10:31You can use the weapon of Jesus Christ, scripture and of truth to claim peace in your home.
- 10:39And if you need a little extra help employing all these tactics we've talked about today, we have a wonderful gift for you.
