- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think the Miami Dolphin signed a single corner back.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Did they?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: They signed up.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they signed like a UDFA.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: They drafted our show.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: We did.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you how many shows we did.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: We did.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty twenty two shows.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is the twenty.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: No, this is the twenty third job.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: We did twenty three shows.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Damn, that's damn near what a show week for almost half a season, right?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: Almost half a year.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Almost pretty close and I think on the very first one.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: Let me let me let me go check So yeah, this is one of my favorite pop things to do on a podcast, which is go check things live on the air
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: scroll the internet.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I got I got a vamp now to find this let me see the off season season two when did we start this thing okay all right episode twelve when did this happen that season two episode twelve when how was this
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this was, damn, this is a while ago.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: Is this right, this mark?
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: This sounds about right, yeah.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, no, it's February, it's essentially two weeks right after the Super Bowl, February the Ninth, the Ninth.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: I am certain if I go back and listen to that episode on February the Ninth, we asked, yeah, they're gonna sign a corner back.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Although, at that time, I don't think the jail of Ramsay news had dropped yet, right?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't think so, but I mean, you still would think, okay, you know, Kendall Fuller, he's gone, concussion issues, whatever, they're probably in the market for a corner back, and not only did they not sign someone to replace Kendall Fuller, they traded Jalen Ramsay, and now they need to replace him as well.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm wondering where this is gonna end, right?
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's a guy gonna sign.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like, look, where are today's the fifteenth, okay?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Rookies, I guess they report tomorrow, or they report it today, but you know, people ask me, are you gonna be there to watch every single second?
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody is.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody ever goes to rookie, rookie camp because it's essentially orientation.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're always indoors, right?
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: So there's nothing to see.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Why don't we go see an empty field?
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: the vets report on the twenty second like you would want to have a shiny new court in corner back right to integrate into your system by the twenty second so you got a figure that's like an artificial deadline that might spur some action like maybe
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we're gonna have to get it done.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: They gotta get it done soon.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Every hilarious if we do season three of the off season and we say you know what they never did sign a quarterback
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: They never did is this the off season they finally sign a corner back.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, is there any chance?
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Alpha is there any chance that this year's corner back position is last year's guard position.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, screw it.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: We got some guys in the building.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: We have a storm duck and an Ethan Bonner.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: We have a Jason Marshall and and whoever else.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's a few guys at a getting like positive press.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how you can get positive press.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what are you doing?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're running around in your shorts and everybody's like, oh, did you see that guy running around in the shorts?
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: I never understood that.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: At least when I was hard-sold catered co-hoo, he had had three practices, okay, including one in pads.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: And, and I was like, man, that kind of kind of ticked this guy in that guy.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: And a coach kind of told me Keter Kohu number thirty eight like that guy's gonna make the team and I like really the UDFA from like some school never heard of before yeah that guy he's gonna make the team he's pretty damn good he's gonna be a good player and then it started noticing more and I was like okay yeah he's he's good like this this guy is an NFL player they found him out of nowhere hopefully that happens again I keep hearing the same things from a couple of guys
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very interested to see what Isaiah Johnson looks like this year.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Because he looked good to me last year.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he made the team last year.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then they managed to sneak him onto the practice squad.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: So who knows?
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they like what they have.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: But you know.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: that I can't help a feel fear.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: From that, right?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because God last year's guard position, completely short circuit of the season, like we expected it to might.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: And last season was essentially one of those seasons where you look at it and you say, you know what?
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: What can go wrong?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: What do you fear?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: And the answer was yes.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: essentially everything went wrong everything you expected that could go wrong that was that you were fearful of happening last season actually happened you had a two-a-concussion you had your guards be absolute dog crap you couldn't run the football
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes, the answer was yes.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: You never got Bradley Chubback.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Last year was a disaster class of a season.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, and I mean, if we're all sitting here, like we are in the middle of July, asking ourselves what position group derails the twenty twenty five Miami dolphin season, I'm pretty sure nearly a hundred percent of fans would
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: Answer the cornerback position right now.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: So you might get some people chirping in with the tight end position, but the way this offense is constructed, the tight end position, at least a pass catching tight end position isn't all that important, despite what Johnny Smith did last year for the dolphins, but
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think if you're looking at a position group that could derail this upcoming season for the dolphins, it has to be the cornerback group and there is still no movement on that front.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: None of these guys have decided to accept the lowball offers that Chris Greer is throwing out there right now.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I'm wondering if it's just one of those, one of those things that, you know, a guy's just gonna wait to the last possible minute to see if he could get some movement on his contract.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: It could just be as simple as, you know what?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're not gonna get me for all of training camp for that money.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'll show up after the first preseason game.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: It could be something as simple as that, right?
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: It could be something as simple as that.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to get your thoughts on this.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: What do you make of what's happening with the second round picks?
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Because if there's a team that can actually miss their second round pick, it's Miami because their second round pick is a confirmed starter and an important one.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Especially if you don't want to see Lee and Mike and Burke try it out there once again.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: And we already talked about how that went for the Dolphins last year, you know, with that much maligned and rightfully so offensive guard group.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: But you're right, Al, don't know, Savaya Naya is Miami's second round pick and there's a log jam with the second round picks.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: There are two second round picks out of thirty two that are signed right now.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the Houston Texans pick.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Higgins out of Iowa State and that is What is it's a Browns pick as well correct?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, the linebacker from UCLA Yeah, that that's a hard name to say when you're not thinking about it when it just pops up Yeah, but both teams guaranteed those contracts one hundred percent and it and the way it came off was the Texans had I believe the first pick in the in the second round and they said well, we didn't have a first rompick so we're gonna guarantee your deal
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: and the browns like dumbasses just said well we're next so yeah we'll do it too and the rest of the league said no no we got to collude here
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: for this gets way too out of hand.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: And if this is not evidence of collusion, like, come on, man, there's thirty teams, thirty holdouts, essentially.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, we already have actual holdouts.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: Tray Harris of the Chargers did not show up.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, screw you.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have a contract.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what, if I were in their shoes,
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like this is, look, this is unforgiving sport, just when you least expect it.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: You take an ACL, you take in the kills.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: You can go imagine you don't have a contract and you run out that you run around and you tear your ACL.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: Can you imagine, can you imagine what the team might do to your contract going on, you know, where the year, which is essentially going to be a red shirt year, if you take an injury?
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm not showing up and I wouldn't show up.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know how this ends, but I got my suspicion.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I talked about it earlier today.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what you think about this, but question on Jenkins is also a second rompick.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: and he got arrested and his like his legal situation is tenuous at best it doesn't look good he might get suspended he's one of these guys like you know I think I'm gonna need money to pay lords so I'll take what you give me
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that's the, yeah, the bright set of that is that could get some movement going forward.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the downside to that.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: The team that owns his rights are the Cleveland Browns.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: One of the dumbasses that that completely, uh, guaranteed their guy, a one hundred percent contract.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Now, his push on Jenkins so unaware that his agent's going to say, nah, I need a fully guaranteed contract.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Or is he going to budge a little bit?
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to see how this happens.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: How this ends because teams are going to slowly be coming online here in the next five days.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Dolphin show up on the twenty seconds.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: So it's seven days from now.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: This is unprecedented.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: This has never happened in the history of the sport before.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: and it affects the dolphins a little bit more than most I guess the team that it would affect the most would be the Saints because if they lined up to play quarterback their quarterback is who right now and at least Tyler shook was a second round pick so you could reasonably expect that and older I think it's twenty five years old can be your starter this season right at quarterback so the Saints don't have a they don't have a quarterback okay
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: although man can you imagine a saint's tank here and they get the draft arch manning?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the NFL would would be cream in their pants for that one.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, can you imagine daddy and son, you know, book and the franchise and New Orleans?
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: But Miami needs this guy.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: They need Jonas of INE.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's a starter.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's a confirmed starter.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm interested to see how this ends.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously right now everybody's colluding.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's gonna come a point where a lot of these deadlines I guess create these artificial deadlines create some movement.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: So it's gonna take one team that's desperate.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think that if you start with a third or a fourth team starting to guarantee deals, then you just might see the entire second round guaranteed.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: And then they'll just don't work on it in the off season.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: But how do you think this ends?
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: But that's a great question, Alf.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like you said, the dolphins need their second round pick more than most, Jonas of Inaia, looking like a starting offensive lineman for this team.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, if he plays the well, the way a lot of people project him to, including Chris Greer, who traded up to get this guy and gave up extra draft capital in order to select him.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if he plays that way, then he's probably going to be worth a fully guaranteed contract here.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, are we going to get to the point where we're, you know, the first two rounds are guaranteed.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: Then the first three rounds in the first four rounds five rounds.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: So on and so forth.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there was a time when
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: You could pay your rookies, your incoming rookies, whatever you wanted.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then you saw these first overall picks resetting the market and being the highest paid player in the NFL.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then they went back to the CBA and they re-did that and they made it so that that's no longer the case.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's something that the NFL PA and the NFL are gonna have to work on.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they're going to go back in the next CBA and say that these deals cannot be guaranteed.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe first round picks can be guaranteed other than that.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to be guaranteed.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: But until then, it really could go either way.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: But I hope that at the very least, the dolphins get their situation figured out.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we want Jonah with the team learning the offense.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, it's not a simple offense.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's a complicated offense.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: And we need all of our offensive players, all of our offensive starters, in attendance, working on the reps, getting things down.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Have you been watching quarterback out season two of quarterback?
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a great show.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: And Kirk Cousins talks about all the motions that are involved in the Atlanta Falcons offense, as opposed to the Minnesota Vikings offense, where he was coming from.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he's a veteran in this league, thirteen years in the National Football League, and even he was having difficulty picking up all the motions and getting them down in the Falcons playbook.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, if he's going to have trouble with it as a thirteen-year vet,
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: You think a rookie is going to have a little bit of difficulty figuring all of this stuff out.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that's a guy you want in there.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's a guy you want.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: Jelling with the other members of the offensive line.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's a guy you want.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: texting to a tongue of I low a building that bond building that relationship in the trenches and I hope it gets done soon because you know I got a admit out of all of Miami's draft picks this year.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: Jonas of I NiA was was my favorite one so I want to I just want to selfishly I want to see this guy on the field.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, we're gonna go to break and when we come back, maybe we talk a little wrestling, maybe we talk the summer and what we'll be doing, maybe talk a little baseball, maybe a little more dolphins, maybe our expectations for the season.

- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: And we are back.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Mark.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Tonight you're watching the, the all-star game.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when I was a kid, I used to love the Oscar game.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: It was one of those things that I could get enough of.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: I used to love the Oscar game.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: I used to, you know, I used to eat it up.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: Now I could not care less.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: And last night I tuned in for the Home Run Derby and I saw no Peter Lanzo, no Francisco Lindor and I was like screw this.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: Why aren't my meds participating in this thing?
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't watch that either.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: So are you interested in this all-star game tonight?
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I kind of have the opposite experience that you do out when I was a kid.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't care for baseball at all.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't play baseball growing up.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have a lot of money growing up.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: And baseball is one of those sports where you need a whole bunch of gear to be able to play.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: And we just couldn't afford that.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I never played baseball.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: But as I became an adult, I started to gain an appreciation for the game of baseball.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: And now I'm actually a die hard.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: baseball fan in particular of of the Cleveland Guardians so that that twenty six twenty sixteen world series really was a bummer for me especially because I live in cubs country and they let me hear that for for quote
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: I become a huge fan of baseball and I just I love I guess when it comes to baseball I just love the nostalgia of it all I love the Americana of baseball you know what I mean like it's it's like taking a time machine back a hundred years and it's the same game played on the you know the same diamond and the same plays are happening you know grounders to shorten you know
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: close plays at the plate and and all of that stuff.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: I just really, really dig it.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: And so the All-Star game is just a fun activity where the game still resembles very closely the actual games that they play during the regular season during the postseason, which you can't say about a lot of All-Star games in other sports.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the NBA All-Star game is a joke.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: The NFL Pro Bowl is a joke.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, hockey can can can get there, but they've been doing a lot of skills challenges lately, right?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: They don't even play an actual game or a lot more do they off?
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this year they had the Four Nations Cup and that thing was a blood bath.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's right.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: No, that was pretty sick.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: That was pretty sick.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: I did catch it.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when you're all start game features, fist fights to start the game.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty good.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is good.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: You got me there with the NHL stuff, but as far as the MLB all star game, yeah, it's just a fun time to watch all of the best players in the game take the field and battle it out and you get to see some really cool matchups.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it was a little bit more special when inter league play wasn't such a big part of baseball, but
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: I still like it.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: I still enjoy it.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: And my kids are really big into baseball right now.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: They've got me playing MLB the show every single day.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: When we play Madden, I woke their asses.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: No mercy.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're crying by the end of it.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: But when we play the show, there's something about that game.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: Those kids are fucking good.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: I was just playing them.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: Before I got on here with you and my kids nine and and fourteen years old they what my ass in that game so They're they're really big into into baseball right now and and they were like yeah, we've got to watch all star game tonight and I said alright guys.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: We'll sit down and we'll enjoy it together So a little bit of father's son time with a good old game of baseball and that sounds pretty pretty good to me
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I remember when it was for only like thirteen years.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I looked it up as from two thousand three to two thousand sixteen.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: The winner of the MLB All-Star Game would get home feel advantage in the World Series.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: Now they just do it like every other sport.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever has the best record gets home feel advantage in the World Series.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: I remember, remember, I'm old.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: I remember when they used to just alternate from year to year.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: The American League had the home feel advantage this year.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: Next year, the National League has the home feel advantage.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you one thing I would want changed.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's way too much inner league baseball.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like the Met's Play to series in New York with the Yankees and the Yankees came down to play the Met's.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's six games.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: If they could cut that in half, I think it keeps the mistake of separating the leagues, right?
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then maybe you could get back to doing something like that where you just alternate from year to year.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, because there's really no mistake in, wow, the red socks are playing the Met's now in the world series.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a big deal.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_00]: or or Cleveland is playing the cubs you know it's it's it's odd it's something that you don't get to see every day now it's like okay they're facing for the night they're facing each other for the ninth time this season you know I don't know what you like in early baseball I guess I like it because it is a bit of a change of pace you know but you know if I thought
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a fan of pictures batting, you know, like they used to do in the National League, but I did always kind of like that dynamic in interleague play when that was still part of the game when the AL pictures would be visiting the National League parks and then they would have to bat and you'd see these these old white dudes that hadn't swung a bat in twenty years.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: trying to go up there and take swings at balls.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: That was kind of comical, not great for the game of baseball, but interesting nonetheless.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think baseball has actually been one of the sports where they've made some changes recently that have actually made the game better.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: At first, I hated the pitch clock.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: but now I love it because you can get through these games in two hours and that's yeah it ain't baseball isn't the most action-filled sport anyways so you're just reducing the amount of downtime in that game so I actually really loved the pitch clock now it took me a couple months to get into it but now that everybody's acclimated I do like that and you know they've they've done some other things you know like we talked about the the NL
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: doing away with pitchers batting.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: They have designated hitters now.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's good for the sport as well.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think baseball's kind of on the right track in terms of how do we reinvigorate this game.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: They do they do need to do a better job of marketing themselves because
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when was the last time you heard outside of when there's nothing else going on in the sports world, which is right now, when was the last time you heard, you know, these talking head shows on ESPN lead with some baseball talk.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: It just doesn't happen anymore.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the in-vogue sport like it used to be for many, many, many, many decades in this country.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: but they've got some good young stars right now in showhail tani in air and judge uh... and other players of the like so i think baseball's kind of making a bit of a comeback and i think the kids are starting to get into it a little bit more and they're getting big big crowds maybe because i i just watched the meds and they've been getting big crowds all season but
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the changes that they've made and when I was younger, I used to hate the designated hitter because I thought like, you know, why shouldn't the picture hit?
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, you look back on it and it used to be the biggest waste of time, really.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like the picture would go, unless you had a picture that could hit.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_00]: which was rare like there was very few back in the day like Rick and Kiel could hit and then of course he could he could no longer pitch and they turned him into a right-feeler because he could then hit twenty five-one runs a season right so it was rare that a picture could hit but usually if you picture went up to it was an automatic out or they would do what every team used to have them to which is but all game
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what a waste of time.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm glad that they got rid of that.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, the pitch clock is the best invention they've ever made.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: And the next great invention should be the robot-ups.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: I really feel about that because
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: I have mixed feelings mixed feelings with you.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're not going to be able to get sleep.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because we bitch when we have a bad umpire, but you're not going to get away with, you know, your picture getting all set up bullshit calls.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, look, the other day, I forgot who was it?
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: Who was it?
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: Who was it that was getting every call?
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I was, I was blushing in my backyard watching this game.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: Damn, who was it?
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: I got to think.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't clay homes.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, he doesn't throw many balls, he throws a lot of strikes.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_00]: Who the hell was it that was getting every single call under the sun?
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to think.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was, I don't remember who it was, but it was a Met's picture.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: It was the, it was toward the end of the brave series.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: And my God, he was getting every call under the sun.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, whoa, that's a call.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: And the Brazler were filming, looking at the Empire League.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: What the hell are you calling and I'm taking it myself?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's pretty awesome.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're cutting through this line up left and right because they're giving it's every call on the border, you know?
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best thing when your team is the benefactor of bad calls by the dump and it's the absolute worst feeling in the world when you're on the other side of it.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I would be okay with Robo Oms if maybe we agreed upon a slightly expanded strike zone.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's a compromise we can we can fight for.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: But the games in such a great place, teams are running more.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, one of the worst things that ever happened to baseball was, oh, that's another rule.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: I love, I love that you can't do that shift anymore.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: Because the manager for the Tampa Bay Rays... What was the last name?
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: Madden.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: No, what was the last name?
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: The whole, what's his name?
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: For God's name now, all of a sudden.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: Tampa Bay Devil Rays Manager.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: Is he the manager now?
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: No, he retired.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: He said it was.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Was it Joe Madden?
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: Joe Madden, yeah, it was Madden, right?
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's Joe Madden.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was a manager for the Cubs.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: He was the worst.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: The worst.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_00]: He used to put four in fielders on one side, and then just pitch deep in, you know, way inside and low to left handers.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: And if you want to put the ball in play at all, you're essentially just hitting into a bunch of ground balls all day.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: It was so boring.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it's smart, but it's not baseball, you know, very, very clinical.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, nobody ever hits to the opposite side of the field anymore, so that made a lot of sense, but once they got rid of that, I thought it made the game so much much better.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, the games in a very, very good place.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_00]: They used to not run that much.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: Now teams are running much, much more teams are actually stealing bases, which is a fun part of the game.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: Defense is really, really, really good.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: You still have the home runs.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: Scoring is not ridiculous.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: There's good pitching.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_00]: Polpens are fun to watch.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: Almost everybody throws a hundred miles an hour now.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the sports in a great place.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not just saying that because my team is good.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: I like in baseball a lot to golf, right?
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like when you're a little kid, golf's boring.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: And then you get older and you gain an appreciation for golf.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a sport where there can be a whole lot of nothing happening for a very long time.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: But when it gets intense, it's the most intense thing that you can watch.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: When it comes down to the final hole of a
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: of a major's tournament and you got two guys battling it out and and one hits the fairway and the other one drives into the rough and then all of a sudden he he recovers and hits it close to the pin it can be so exciting right and and it comes down to the last couple of puts for from each guys
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: It can be incredibly intense.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's the same thing with baseball.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: Baseball, a whole lot of nothing can happen for a whole long, long time.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then all of a sudden, in the bottom of the ninth, you know, you got the visiting team up by a run.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: And the home team has runners on first and second with only one out.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you are living in dying with every single pitch.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: And it becomes the the most intense thing you can watch.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you really only gain an appreciation for that when you get older.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: And you like to use some sports.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: as a way to relax while still getting a little bit of intensity at the end you know what I mean like is it's nice there's nothing like a summer night sitting outside watching baseball with a beer in your hands nothing like it no absolutely not so yeah absolutely love it all right we got to touch on this
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: This is the smallest thing.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is the smallest thing.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not not fun.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: Although Good sign Paul him and got on there said no.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're not vacating this thing.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't told June of next year.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now that he says June of next year is not a good thing.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot of months away.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: Right, but he's like, not we're not vacating this thing.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he can still cash.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: I guess that'll cause some, I guess that'll be, that'll be fun to just watch going forward, although without the dirt sheets, we're gonna know if he did have surgery, if he is okay, if he's not okay.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, I don't expect you to tell us what's going on, but I know he was having an MRI today.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess we'll have more news tomorrow, but what did you think of the injury?
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a complete bummer like just absolutely awful.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: You feel terrible for the guy I have known him since we were sixteen years old and I just I see all of the behind the scenes work, you know, like we were talking about quarterback earlier and when you watch that you're like, oh man, you know, you see him in the weight room.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: You see him in
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: in the study room and you see them on the practice field you see them when they go home and they're reviewing the playbooks at home with their significant others and you just get a realization for how much work goes into being a professional football player you know a lot of stuff that you never even thought about before
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I get to see that work that Seth puts into his craft to be one of the best professional wrestlers in the world.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: It isn't just showing up on a Monday and cutting a good promo and having a good match for ten minutes at the end of the night.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's so much more that goes into that from the time that you spend in the gym, the time that you spend
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: you know watching your matches and other people's matches to try and and modify your style a little bit to try and change your game up so you can stay fresh you know coming up with new ideas new gimmicks new new new catch phrases and new move sets and things like that just the amount of time that these guys put into perfecting their craft and especially him you know I've just been there I've seen I've seen them do it and so to to
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: watch another devastating knee injury kind of befall this man it just it made me sick to my stomach I was actually putting on an independent show here in Iowa on Saturday night at the same time that Saturday night's main event was going on
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: Don't ask me we we have to schedule these things a year in advance so that we don't get bumped out by some sort of wedding reception or something else you know some sort of bingo night and then WWE just adds this stuff two months ago and we're like shit for running against WWE it ended up being a good crowd here in Iowa but but you know
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: seventy five percent of the way through the show I had one of the people running up to me saying you know is coach okay is colbe okay is set okay and I'm like what are you guys talking about they're like all you didn't hear you didn't hear he heard his knee again and I just immediately
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: my heart just sank and and I just got this healing of dread and I popped out I picked up my phone and I typed in you know Seth Rollins in the Twitter search bar and first thing I see is a picture of him in the middle of the mat with all the trainers around him and it's you know the caption said that he messed up his knee again and I'm just like this this can't be this can't be this can't be so I actually you know because I figured he'd be
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: dealing with doctors and everything like that.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: I actually texted his mom right away and I said, you know, what's going on is, is he okay?
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, I'm trying to get word and then, you know, I had to finish my show and we had our tear down and I was driving my
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: My trailer back to my gym, you know, to put the ring away, and I got a text that said that he'll be heading in for an MRI, but quote, it doesn't look good.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: And just immediately I was just extremely disappointed and distraught for my friend, because I know how much work he puts into this, and I know how the injuries have affected him mentally in the past.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just, you know, hoping that
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's able to keep things into perspective and keep working hard and come back stronger.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, all the cliches that they always say, you know, it sucks to hear the first thing when you first get injured, but they are true.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: And there'll be a silver lining to this.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: He'll get to spend more time with his daughter.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: She's starting school here in a couple months and he'll get to spend more time with her before.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, for she does head off to school.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: We all know, you know, life changes a little bit when your kids head off to school as a parent and that's his first child and his only child.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: So he'll get to spend a little more time with her.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just, it's just horseshit.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you just shake your fist at the powers that be, it just go, man, why?
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: Why, why, why, why, why?
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: Why now when they've positioned the company around him is the top heel in the industry and I just feel so bad for him.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: And he's obviously, you know,
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: in a weird mental state right now, but ironically enough, he'll actually be hosting the Rich Eisen Show tomorrow and on Thursdays.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll actually get to hear from Seth himself, how he feels about his latest, the injury and just wishing him the best right now.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: Storyline wise, you just keep that briefcase and suspended animation until he catches and when he's healthy, right?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you do.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly what Paul Heyman said, they haven't until next June.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: So that's plenty of time, eleven more months, you know, for him to do whatever he needs to do, whether that surgery or not, I actually don't know the answer to that as of right now, but there'll certainly be a lengthy rehab process.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, when he does come back and he has that briefcase in hand, I'm sure it'll be an exciting moment for everybody.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if we're doing if we take out our calculator's in it and he has an ACL let's say he has an ACL tear.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: Russell many next year makes perfect sense as a cash in it certainly does.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's like right there.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's like right there like a month or two months removed from rehab and actual maybe some ringwork to to dust off the rust.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that could happen.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: And it isn't Las Vegas next year.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm I am going to try to go this year.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like this coming year.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: I am going to try to go.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: You got anything planned for the summer as far as vacation or anything before before we have to either endure or enjoy this dolphin season.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: I've been on record.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're gonna play better than a lot of people think they will now with the caveat that we need to get a goddamn corner back in this room here, which we've been talking about for weeks, but, you know, low key summer this year, gonna take a vacation up to the Wisconsin Dells, which for people in Miami probably sounds terrible, but we don't have beaches here in Iowa, so we like our water parks, and the Wisconsin Dells has a whole bunch of different water parks, so I'll be taking my kids up there.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get away for a week or so and enjoy that.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: Last year we were in Southern California, the year before that we did a full East Coast tour, hitting up all the big cities out there in New York, Boston, Philadelphia.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: And this year I said, guys, let's just find somewhere close to home.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like a three hour drive to the Wisconsin Dells.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go do that and try and get some rest and relaxation in before my next class starts in September.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: And on the way out,
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: Give me a record and where does their season end this coming season.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of people are objecting.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to do mine on the show on three YPC.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: So let's get you on record here.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: I've got this spotlight.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think a lot of people, like I mentioned, a lot of people think the dolphins are going to have a poor year.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think a lot of people are projecting the Miami dolphins to miss the playoffs.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I am not one of those people.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: I do think the Miami dolphins will make the playoffs this year.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: I do think to a tongue of a lower knock on wood.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do it nice and loud so you can hear it on the podcast, hopefully.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that to a tongue of a lower
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: while placing an increased importance on maintaining his health throughout the season will avoid injury just like he did in twenty twenty three.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think we'll get a full seventeen game regular season from two a tongue of our lower end as we've all seen it's not debatable when two a tongue of our lower is healthy and he's available he is a top ten quarterback in this league no matter what the the latest ESPN ranking had him in which if you take those things in order would have placed him seventeen
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: out of all starting quarterbacks in the league, which is silly to me.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: I get it, the injury stuff, whatever.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: But when healthy, when he plays this man, puts up numbers, and he is the perfect point guard for the Miami Dolphins offense.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I do think it'll be a good year for Tua.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think we'll get a little bit of a bounce back.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: From Tyreak, I think we'll see a breakout season from Tyre, excuse me, from Jalen Waddle.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think A channel will be used a little bit better.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think the running game will regain its form due to those offensive guards that they brought in.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: And if they can kind of piecemeal a secondary together, I think the Mink of Fitzpatrick edition should help
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: Anthony Weaver kind of run the defense that he wants to run.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: He obviously fits Patrick is going to be the Kyle Hamilton in this system.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the dolphins are going to have a solid season.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take a final record of eleven and six with a wild card birth and I'm going to go out on a limb and say they win their first playoff game in a quarter century.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: this season.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, I'm a little bit higher on this squad than a lot of people currently are, but I'll go eleven and six and a playoff victory and we'll see what happens.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: Come, the divisional route.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: But for a team that hasn't won a playoff game in twenty five years, I think that's a bold enough prediction in and of itself.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think everybody would just sign up right now and say, yeah, we'll take it.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we'll take it and that's fine by us.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that would be I think that a lot of people will characterize that as a successful season.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I guess it
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to call it right here.
