- 0:31SPEAKER_00: God, we thank you for today and for the opportunity to grow.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: We pray that you would give us a revelation within this message that you intend on us receiving with the understanding.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: The title of this message is Elohim.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: We are continuing our study of the end times.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: You may say, why podcast preacher?
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I say, because you will be blessed, considering that the term or activity of watching, as described and commended in the Bible, is listed in over 30 places.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And reading a book of Revelation and studying the end times is a hedge against the great deception which is now being played out all over the earth.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You can dial into my many other messages starting around 2025 through 2026, if you need to get caught up.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: People are most caught off guard because of self-induced ignorance or unbelief.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Revelation 1, 1 through 3.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants, things which must take place shortly.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And he sent and signified it by his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it, for the time is near.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Revelation 22, 7.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Behold, I am coming quickly.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: No other book in the Bible makes this declaration about itself.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: We cannot keep what we do not know.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, so on to the term Elohim, which will be the only subject of this message, because it is a large subject that is not studied by most Christians.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: In fact, I have never heard a message like this come from any pulpit in the land.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: In this next definition of the word Eloim, I learned that the word applies to more than just God, depending on the context in which the words are used.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I will define each of what this word Eloim means, but do not get thrown off.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: If you have been taught that it only applies to God, this would be a scriptural mistake.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: A good source book which inspired me to include the name or title of Eloim is titled The Divine Council, the Mystery of God's Governance of Heaven and Earth written by Robert Phillips.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: The term Eloim appears up to twenty seven hundred times in the Hebrew Old Testament Bible, depending on textual traditions and again depending on context.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: It can refer to more than just God.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: But make no mistake, God and God alone is God and is above all that has been created because he created all.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Eloim as God.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Eloim is a grammatical plural Hebrew title in the Hebrew Bible that fundamentally designates God, supreme power or mighty ones.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Linguistic definition and grammar.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: The root origin derives from the singular root El or Eloh, meaning strength, might or power.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: The plural ending, the suffix I am makes the noun masculine plural in form, literally translating to gods or powers in literal morphology.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: That is a lowercase gods.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Singular agreement, when applied to the one true God of Israel, it almost exclusively pairs with singular verbs, adjectives, and pronouns, such as in Genesis one.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Plural of majesty or intensity.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Hebrew Grammaritans view this plural form as a superlative expression, denoting supreme majesty, fullness of power, and ultimate greatness rather than a strict numerical polytheism.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: The biblical usage, the creator and judge, appears over twenty five hundred times in the Old Testament, first introduced in Genesis one to emphasize God as the infinite, all powerful creator, sustainer, and supreme judge of the universe.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: The broader application can occasionally refer to pagan idols, foreign deities, or spiritual beings slash messengers in a genuine plural sense, depending on the contextual verbs and modifiers.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: So there's the other groups that Elohim applies to, but I believe that there's even more.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Some scriptures that discuss Elohim.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to pronounce that, but I'm guessing E L O H I M Elohim.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: So this word discusses as angels.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: The Hebrew word Elohim appears over 2,500 times in the Hebrew Bible, that is the Old Testament, and is used as a primary title for the true God, emphasizing his supreme power, majesty, and creative authority.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Genesis 1 1 states in the beginning, Elohim, or God created the heavens and the earth, introducing God as the sovereign creator of the universe.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Genesis 126 records God saying, Let us make man in our image after our likeness, utilizing the plural form of Elohim alongside plural pronouns to reflect his majesty and counsel.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: So some people say that this supports the Trinity idea of God, and I would disagree a hundred percent.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: It has nothing to do with that.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: What it's really saying is that God has a council up there.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: And so when he's saying let us make man in our image, he's actually talking to a council of beings up there, and not to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Because the Word of God and the Holy Spirit is God.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: So why would God be talking to Himself like that as if he was actually separate?
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: And as if Jesus or the Word and the Holy Spirit would be surprised at what God intends on doing since they are all one God.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Hopefully that makes sense.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Deuteronomy six four declares, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, Eloim, the Lord is one, binding the title Eloim directly to the singular, unique identity of Yahweh.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Psalm eighty two one shows God taking his place in the divine assembly, illustrating Eloim as a supreme judge, presiding over lesser spiritual or earthly authorities.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Psalm ninety five three proclaims for the Lord is great God, that's EI, and a great king above all the gods, Eloim, using the term to contrast the incomparable creator against all other concepts of deity.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: We've talked a little bit about this, but there are other so called gods, which are actually demons.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: So humanity makes a statue of something, and then because they created a false god, that false god opens up the door because creating false gods are idols is a sin, so that sin opens up the door to demonic power.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: So those false gods, when people pray to them, can actually do some creative miracles.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Not new, but counterfeit.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: In fact, those miracle signs and wonders are going to increase the closer we get to the end of time.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: And it will be Satan.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Yes, God does creative miracle signs and wonders, but those will be different.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: And this is why we need to discern if the miracle signs and wonders point to God or if the miracle signs and wonders point to a false god or to Satan.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Eloim is angels, and the Hebrew Eloim is not a specific name for angels, but a broad category term meaning spiritual beings or gods.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: And there is a distinction between spiritual beings and angels, and that this designates any inhabitant of the heavenly, non physical realm.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, so without going too far off the trail, I want to really hit some of this stuff about angels.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: The Bible explicitly calls them ministering spirits in Hebrew one fourteen, for example.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: And describes them as spiritual entities in passages like Psalm one hundred four four.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: The term angel comes from the original biblical languages Malach in Hebrew, that is the Old Testament, and anaglilos in Greek, which literally translates to messenger rather than an exclusive biological or ontological classification.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: I may have pronounced that word right, but don't ask me what it means.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: How scripture uses the terms function versus nature.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: In the Bible text, angel is often a job description for a spiritual being acting as God's courier or agent, broader spiritual beings.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Scripture also uses specific names for different classes of heavenly or spiritual entities rather than just a blanket term like angel, including cherubim, guardians of sacred spaces, e.g.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Genesis three twenty four and Ezekiel ten.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Seraphim, six winged attendants around God's throne, Isaiah six two, Ophanim or thrones, described as wheels within wheels covered in eyes, Ezekiel chapter one, and powers, principalities and rulers, terms used in New Testament letters like Ephesians six hundred twelve and Colossians one hundred sixteen to describe various ranks of spiritual authorities.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: So the biblical definition of Eloim, root meaning it translates literally to gods, divinity or mighty ones based on its grammatical form.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Pay attention to that.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Eloim literally translates to God's divinity or mighty ones.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Category, not a proper name.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Rather than naming an individual or specific job, like Malach, which means messenger or angel, Elohim describes what kind of being someone is, a disembodied member of the spiritual world.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: The heavenly realm, it encompasses the creator, that is Yahweh, lesser divine council members, heavenly host or angels, and even foreign national gods or spirits of the dead.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Eloh as supernatural messengers and heavenly host.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: When Elohim overlaps with what modern readers call angels, it refers to the non human entities that populate God's divine assembly.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Psalm eight five often translates as angels.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Humans are described as beings made a little lower than the Elohim, heavenly being or angels, showing that these entities occupy a higher ontological tier in the spiritual hierarchy.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Psalm eighty two one, God, Elohim, stands in the divine assembly, judging the Elohim lesser divine beings or heavenly rulers entrusted with nations.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Job one six and thirty eight seven, the sons of God Bain Elohim, who shout for joy at creation, represents the same class of heavenly spiritual beings, but not angels.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: The sons of God actually don't represent angels, they represent spiritual beings, and this is the teaching that I was talking about earlier, where we have ascribed the term angels incorrectly because of the context.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Some of the scriptures that discuss Elahim as angels are as follows.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: In the Hebrew Bible, the word Elohim is a general category title for any supernatural or disembodied inhabitant of the spiritual realm, including heavenly messengers or angels, rather than exclusively a proper name for the supreme God.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: So when God says I am the only God, there is no other, he's not saying there is no other gods, lowercase, but what he's saying is I'm the god of gods.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: I am the God who created everything.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Those lesser gods are actually the watchers or the sons of God that fell and sinned against the women of men and gave birth to giants.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: But again, that's for another message.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Psalm eight five.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Yet you have made him a little lower than Elohim, translated as angels in many versions, and you crowned him with glory and honor.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: The context in ancient Greek translations of the Bible, the Septuagint translation, Elohim here as angels, a rendering later quoted in the New Testament Hebrews two seven.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: It refers to heavenly beings or celestial attendants surrounding God.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Psalm eighty two one and eighty two six God, Elohim, stands in the divine assembly.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: He renders judgment among the Elohim, that is lowercase gods, divine beings.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: I said, You are Elohim, you are all sons of the most high.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Ben B E N E, but you will die like mere mortals.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: The context?
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: This passage describes God presiding over a council of spiritual beings, Elohim, who were assigned to oversee the nations, but acted unjustly.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Now we're talking about the fallen sons of God in Genesis chapter six.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Job one six and Job two one.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: The scripture now there was a day when the sons of God, that's Ben Elohim, came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: The context The phrase sons of God uses Elohim to designate heavenly angelic beings who assemble in the presence of Yahweh.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Job thirty eight seven When the morning stars sang together, all the sons of God, that's Bin Elohim, shouted for joy.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: The context here the Ben Elohim are politically linked with the creation of the earth, representing celestial or angelic witnesses who praise God at the foundation of the world.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Psalm twenty nine one and Psalm eighty nine six, the scripture, ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, that is bin Elim, that's E L I M, literally sons of God, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: The context These poetic verses call upon the counsel of the divine angelic beings in the heavens to recognize the supreme majesty of Yahweh, who stands apart from all other Elohim Elo H IM.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Now we go to Elohim ELO HIM as human judges.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: What?
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: That word is also ascribed to man?
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Yes it is.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: In biblical translation and commentary, Elohim is occasionally translated as judges or rulers in specific civil passages, such as Exodus twenty one six, twenty two eight through nine, and twenty two verse twenty eight, to describe human authorities who act as God's representatives in rendering legal decisions.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Representative authority in passages like Exodus twenty one six and Exodus twenty two eight through nine, traditional translations render Elohim as judges because disputing parties brought their cases before appointed leaders who stood in the place of God's ultimate authority.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And are we all not called ambassadors of God who stand in the place of God's authority?
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Yes, we are, even in these days.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Divine vicarious role.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Scholars note that calling human leaders Elohim signifies that earthly justice is administered under divine sanction, with judges acting as earthly proxies or viscars of God's standard of justice.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Now of course as always a scholarly debate and nuance, traditional slash representative view.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Many traditional commentators and lexicographers argue that Elohim in these legal contexts directly designates human magistrates because the context involves mundane civil and property disputes rather than heavenly assemblies.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: Linguistic and critical review.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Modern biblical scholars argue that Elohim fundally refers to spiritual or divine beings across the Hebrew Bible.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: In this view, translating the term as human judges is a post biblical exegental development, emerging later in rabbinic and Greco Roman periods, designed to rationalize or soften difficult text rather than reflect the original semantic range of the ancient text.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Some of the scriptures that discuss Elohim as human judges are as follows Exodus twenty one six in laws concerning a servant who chooses to remain with his master permanently, the text states that his master shall bring him to God, which is Ela Elohim ELHA ELOHIM, which many traditional and modern translators render as to the judges.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: This is where we get the idea that that word Elohim could apply to humans.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Exodus twenty two eight through nine.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: In cases of property theft where the thief cannot be found, the owner of the house is brought before God Eloh Elohim, understood in the contexts of civil dispute resolution as standing before the local judicial authorities or magistrates.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Exodus twenty two verse twenty eight You shall not revile God, Elohim, nor curse a ruler of your people.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Some interpreters and ancient versions, such as Atargum and Josephus, suggest this refers to judges or magistrates due to the parallel with human rulers.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Psalm eighty two one and verse six.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: God presides in the great assembly, he renders judgment among the gods.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Elohim.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: I said, You are gods, Elohim, and all of you are sons of the most high.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Nevertheless, you will die like mere men.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: He's talking again about the fallen angels.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: While many scholars argue these Elohim represent a heavenly or divine council of spiritual beings, a longstanding tradition interpretation views them as earthly human rulers and corrupt judges who are rebuked for failing to maintain justice.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Jesus also references this verse in John ten, thirty four through thirty five, noting that the law called those to whom the Word of God came as Elohim, although that hub simply means I disagree with that note.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: I do believe that it is talking about the fallen sons of God, and it is pretty well supported.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Elohim is false gods.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: Yep, they also represent false gods, which are really which are really the fallen sons of God, not demons, but the fallen sons of God.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Yes, there is a difference.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: So there are two things that I want to clarify here, and I'm not sure if it'll throw off my flow, but I think it's still important to understand.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: The sons of God are spiritual beings, not angels.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: They have more authority than angels do.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Also, there are three tiers in the third heaven.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: You have God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the top tier.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: In the second tier are the sons of God, that is the counsel of God.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: And then in the third tier you have angels.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: Hopefully this doesn't throw you off from the message, but I think it's important to understand the government of God.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: In the Hebrew Bible, Elohim used as false gods, refers to any non human, supernatural or divine entity other than Yahweh, that is worshiped by nations, or perversely by the Israelites, and I would say by us today, in America.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Because Elohim is a broad grammatical category meaning divine being or gods, the text uses it to label foreign deities idols or spirits while simultaneously defining them as counterfeit, powerless, or demonic compared to the God of Israel.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: So another way of understanding that is simple.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Many of the nations of the world create their own God and proclaim that's the one they should worship.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: That motivation and line of thinking comes from the fallen sons of God.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: Humanity didn't come up with it all by themselves.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: Once we reject God, we are automatically going to transition to worshiping Satan, and it could be directly, such as witches and palm readers and etc, etc, or it could be indirectly through an idol or a false god, and that's what the Bible calls as powerless, unable to see, hear, or respond to any of your requests.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: Now, but when they do respond, it is a demon that's working through that idol.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: I hope that makes sense.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: Grammatical context When referring to multiple foreign deities or small g, that is gods, the noun Elohim often takes plural verbs, adjectives, or pronouns, unlike its usage for the creator, which typically takes singular verbs.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Deuteronomic definition demonic slash unknown.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Deuteronomy thirty two seventeen explicitly states that when Israel strayed, they sacrificed to demons, Shadim, not God to Elohim, who they had not known, tying the concept of false Elohim directly to malevant spiritual entities, that is the fallen sons of God and to demons.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: So when it says whom they had not known, it's not talking about them not knowing God, it's talking about them not knowing that they are actually serving and worshiping Satan, the fallen sons of God, or demons.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Idols and counterfeits, passages like Deuteronomy 428 and Isaiah 42 17 use Elohim to describe wooden or stone idols, emphasizing that these objects have no true life, breath, or power, making them hollow substitutes for the living God.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: Keep in mind, if they really had no power, they wouldn't be able to persuade humanity.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: But because Satan fell, he actually gives them power.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Darkness has power, and Satan uses it.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: This is how he can, in these end times, recreate false miracle signs and wonders.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: He has power, but he doesn't have the ultimate power, which only comes from God.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: So we have to be careful when we have idols laying around that represent other false gods and deities, because they can be demonically empowered and they will make a mess of your life.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: John 10 10 states that Satan has come to kill, steal, and destroy.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: And they're talking about humanity, and of course all that God created.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Subordination to Yahweh, even when other Elohim are acknowledged in the spiritual realm, such as in the divine council of Psalm 82, the Hebrew Bible defines them as mortal in status and fully subject to the judgment of Yahweh, the supreme Elohim.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: So when God says, I'm not sure.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: The only God there is no other, he's saying there's no one else like me.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: And he would be correct.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Some of the scriptures that discuss Elohim as false gods are as follows Exodus twenty three, you shall have no other Elohim, that is lowercase gods before me.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Now if they didn't exist, God wouldn't have never said that.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: The very opening of the Ten Commandments acknowledges the concept of other Elohim in the cultural horizon of the ancient world, strictly forbidding Israel from worshiping them instead of Yahweh.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Deuteronomy thirty two seventeen, they sacrificed to Elohim, that is demons and foreign gods, which are one and the same thing, that were not God, to gods they had not known, that is to demons that they had not known, to new gods that had come up lately, which means other ones came up.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: So Satan is always using a certain type of idol or false god, and if that doesn't work, then he injects a new set of idols or false gods.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: He is relentless in getting you or keeping you from worshiping the one true God in whom all power resides.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: The passage uses Elohim for foreign entities and directly links them to Shadim, that is demons slash spirits behind false worship.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Deuteronomy twenty nine eighteen warns against an individual whose heart turns away from Yahweh to go and serve the Elohim, that is lowercase gods of those nations.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: The Eloh, the Elohim of the Moabites, and Milcom, another god, false god, the Elohi of the children of Ammon.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: These were also introduced by the giants, which is why God had to destroy the whole planet.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Because it was Satan who actually created idolatry, that is turning humanity from worshiping the one true God into worshiping him, because this is the one thing Satan really wants is for you to worship him as God.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: And we do it when we reject Jesus.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: There is no choice about it.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: It's either this or that.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Jesus says you're either for me or you're against me.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: And even if it's in ignorance, it doesn't matter.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: And this is why we preach the gospel so that humanity no longer remains in ignorance.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: And with today's technology, there will be less people who can claim ignorance of the things of God than any other time in history.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: So it uses a singular slash construct form Elohim to designate specific national false deities.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Judges eleven twenty four.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: You will not possess what Chemosh, your Elohim, that is lowercase God, gives you to possess.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Jephthah references Kemosh using the term Elohim from the perspective of the Ammonites' beliefs.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Isaiah forty four ten Who would fashion a god EL or cast an idol PSEL to sell that is profitable for nothing?
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: And related polemics in Isaiah twenty four seventeen regarding those who trust in carved images.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Elohim is idols.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: In the Hebrew Bible, Elohim is idols or false gods, refers to spiritual beings, foreign deities, or physical idols, designated by the grammatically plural noun, taking plural verb or pronominal agreement to mean gods, that is lowercase gods, rather than the singular god of Israel.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: I guess now is as good a time as any to also interject something else.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: We see how this same mindset translates into the New Testament.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: It says the Apostle Paul talks about worshiping demons in 1 Corinthians 10 14 through 22, specifically highlighting 1 Corinthians 10 twenty.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: The key details or context is that Paul is advising the Corinthian Christians on whether they can eat food that has been sacrificed to pagan idols and participate in temple meals.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: Idols versus demons.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: Paul notes that while an idol itself is nothing, that is, it's just wood, stone, or metal, the actual spiritual reality behind pagan sacrifices involves demons.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: In the core verse, 1 Corinthians ten twenty, Paul writes, No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: I do not want you to participate with demons.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: The warning, he tells believers they cannot share in both the Lord's table, that is communion with Christ, and the table of demons.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: So this is the issue that we have today, and it's going to become even a greater issue as we move to the end times.
