- 0:01So, I just had a fantastic call today, with an amazing and
- 0:05amazing. Amazing HR executive someone
- 0:09that I respect someone, I'm becoming very fond of someone
- 0:14that I look up to professionally someone that I think, I think
- 0:20just gets you And when we were chatting today, she was, she was
- 0:25telling me that something she believes in the most is making
- 0:30sure competitively even which I respected her being honest
- 0:35about. But really, this from the pure
- 0:37place of just wanting to be the best.
- 0:41She was excited about Conducting some business with me and just
- 0:46connecting with me because she she felt that being the best in
- 0:51every single category. In h.r. was incredibly important
- 0:55to her and was incredibly important to the organization
- 0:57that she serves. Being the number one as of
- 1:01attendance at internal comms being the number one, as it
- 1:03pertains to all the different elements.
- 1:05Over the employee experience, being the number one, as it
- 1:07pertains to your hiring strategy.
- 1:11Your job description. Outlines the tools that you use
- 1:14within your meetings to create and conduct engagement and
- 1:18Equitable experiences and inclusive and inclusive culture.
- 1:23And the way that you train and lead your people from an Ellen,
- 1:26D perspective to everything else, you can think about She
- 1:30wanted to be the best. And I respect that so much
- 1:34because I think there are a lot of HR Executives.
- 1:37There are a lot of leaders in general that generally want to
- 1:41be the best may have a perspective on being the best,
- 1:44but they're really not challenging them themselves and
- 1:47every single major HR category on a consistent basis.
- 1:52Every six months, every year, analyzing benchmarking
- 1:56understanding, they're not doing that. they're just simply not
- 2:00doing that and I respect her so much for wanting to do that for
- 2:04doing that for leaning into the uncomfortability.
- 2:12Something that's very hard for human beings to do but I think
- 2:15we all know we need to do is spend more time looking at the
- 2:20raw version of ourselves and making two decisions.
- 2:25Learning from what we don't do well and doubling that doubling
- 2:28down on our strengths. Are learning from what we don't
- 2:31do. Well and starting the process of
- 2:34learning and developing and improving.
- 2:38Now, the last time I checked organizations are made up of
- 2:40literally human beings. And so this whole breakdown,
- 2:43really, really pertains a relates is because when you have
- 2:48a human being inside of an organization and he have goals
- 2:50and objectives and, you know, there are things about you as a
- 2:54human being in your behavior, your capabilities, your skill,
- 2:57said your your timing, your mood, the the season in the
- 3:01company, you know, there are things and moments and and and
- 3:05and benefit of Ali sitting down and analyzing who you are.
- 3:11And who your team is and how you all are really navigating in?
- 3:14Are you actually touching all the different impactful areas of
- 3:17HR or or you more leaning on your 20 years of experience in
- 3:22areas in ways that you think will just behoove your natural
- 3:25skill set. Yeah.
- 3:26Behoove the team and bring some value but you're really not
- 3:29pushing yourself. It's a very natural human being
- 3:32thing to do that. We don't like to push ourselves
- 3:35as a retains to Athletics, eating clean working out.
- 3:40Going to therapy for your relationships.
- 3:42Going to therapy for your own self having difficult
- 3:45conversations. We avoid paying the brain is
- 3:48designed to avoid pain. And my no anthropology friends
- 3:54out of here. You probably know a lot of the
- 3:55reasons why and I've done a little bit of studying in
- 3:57Neuroscience for the punchline is the brain likes to feel nice.
- 4:01And so we do things that are nice or that we're comfortable
- 4:04with or that were used to So here's the direct advice, HR
- 4:10leaders listening today, just a motivational perspective.
- 4:15Understand, find a company, finding yourself, find the time
- 4:19to research, understand every single macro, and micro category
