And what if I want to taste one first? Can I say 'Posso assaggiare?'? Lucas: Exactly! Posso assaggiare? means 'Can I taste?' And then you might ask Sono mature? – 'Are they ripe?' Luna: Sono mature? That's good to know. I always want ripe strawberries. Lucas: So let's put it together. You walk up to the stand and say: Vorrei delle fragole. Quanto costano? Luna: Vorrei delle fragole. Quanto costano? Lucas: The seller says: 'Cinque euro al chilo.' Five euros per kilo. You say: Ne vorrei due etti. Posso assaggiare? Luna: Ne vorrei due etti. Posso assaggiare? Lucas: You taste one. Yeah, delicious. Then you ask: Sono mature? Luna: Sono mature? Lucas: The seller nods. You say: Va bene. Then they hand you the bag and say: Ecco a lei. – 'Here you go.' Luna: Ecco a lei. That's like 'here you are'. Lucas: Exactly. So let's run through the whole scene one more time. I'll be the seller, you be the customer. Luna: Okay. Vorrei delle fragole. Quanto costano?
