- 0:52Speaker 1: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Exploiting single-frame pornography in a family film?
- 1:02Speaker 4: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian.
- 1:05Speaker 3: I am Misty.
- 1:05Speaker 5: I am Marlena.
- 1:07Speaker 4: And we're back for another fun, movie-filled week.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Woo!
- 1:14Speaker 4: Oh, I guess we can do our slightly abbreviated geek
- 1:17Speaker 4: activities this week. Well, first off, the end of last
- 1:22Speaker 4: week there, right after last week's show, I went home
- 1:24Speaker 4: and watched the Golden Globes, and I've realized now Misty
- 1:26Speaker 4: wants to adopt Natalie Portman's laugh.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 1:30Speaker 4: You're obsessed with it.
- 1:31Speaker 3: What was up with that laugh?
- 1:32Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Did you listen to it?
- 1:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I saw that loop that you posted on Facebook.
- 1:36Speaker 4: See, I heard it live.
- 1:37Speaker 5: And I watched it for like four minutes, and I'm like,
- 1:39Speaker 5: why the fuck did I watch that?
- 1:41Speaker 4: I saw it live.
- 1:42Speaker 3: With the Brandon Fraser clap.
- 1:43Speaker 5: It was Quentin Tarantino's face, I think. Yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I just did it, but you all missed it.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Yeah, there was a fist bump circular action going on.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it was scary.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Like duck face fist bump. It was the most classic.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Yeah. The sad thing is, the first time Jay heard
- 1:59Speaker 3: the Natalie Portman laugh, he's like, all right, how long
- 2:01Speaker 3: until somebody mashes that up with the Brendan Fraser clap?
- 2:05Speaker 3: And then like two days later, there it was.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Geeks, really, you guys need to find something else to
- 2:11Speaker 4: do with your time. I mean, I thought we were
- 2:13Speaker 4: bad just making a show, but at least I'm not
- 2:15Speaker 4: editing together pointless clips of.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I'm not sure which is worse, the fact that they
- 2:19Speaker 3: made it or the fact that I sat and watched.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Yeah, at least I didn't sit and watch it at all.
- 2:22Speaker 4: I realized that's what it was after a while, and
- 2:24Speaker 4: I was like, really?
- 2:25Speaker 1: This is all?
- 2:26Speaker 4: For how long?
- 2:27Speaker 3: What is wrong with people? Three and a half minutes.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I didn't even.
- 2:29Speaker 5: It's ridiculous. I don't even remember what was so stupid
- 2:32Speaker 5: about Brendan Fraser's clap.
- 2:33Speaker 3: It went like... like that.
- 2:36Speaker 4: It's his stupid face that he has all the time and.
- 2:39Speaker 3: His hands and this motion that they're and he was.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Like falling over like he couldn't contain himself and he.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Was flailing about I was unaware of the Brenda Fraser
- 2:49Speaker 5: clap before.
- 2:50Speaker 3: That see I watched that because somebody mashed that up
- 2:53Speaker 3: with the song the hell the hollaback girl so it's
- 2:58Speaker 3: just the entire hollaback girl with him doing that clap
- 3:01Speaker 3: and that face for the entire duration.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Again, I say, people need something to do with their time.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Because, in fact, that shit is bananas.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 3:10Speaker 1: What is wrong with her?
- 3:11Speaker 4: Bananas sounds really good. How do you spell bananas?
- 3:14Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I know how to spell bananas thanks to that song.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Thanks for the phonetic teaching, Gwen Stefani.
- 3:20Speaker 3: And I still had extra N's.
- 3:23Speaker 4: This would be a good video to learn to read, too.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Anyway. Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 4: So, yeah, I don't know. I actually saw the laugh
- 3:29Speaker 4: live and went, what a dork. Before it may have
- 3:32Speaker 4: turned into a big deal, but I was like, it
- 3:33Speaker 4: is sort of a little more endearing for people who
- 3:36Speaker 4: already are dorks. It was just like, ah, good to
- 3:38Speaker 4: know she's a big dork.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Maybe it's because she's pregnant.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Yeah, that ruined it for me, though. What the hell's that?
- 3:44Speaker 3: Jay blames it on having to work with Ashton Kutcher.
- 3:46Speaker 3: She done went retarded.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Well, the mental state of Ashton Kutcher probably does rub
- 3:53Speaker 4: off on you, because you see the way Demi Moore
- 3:55Speaker 4: is now. What happened to her career?
- 3:58Speaker 5: Her granny panties?
- 4:00Speaker 3: Her granny panties.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Hey, from what I've seen, she needs granny panties. Yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 4: I know.
- 4:03Speaker 5: Have you seen that bush?
- 4:05Speaker 3: I have.
- 4:06Speaker 4: If things haven't changed since that photo, she needs giant
- 4:09Speaker 4: granny panties, because I don't need to see any of it.
- 4:11Speaker 6: Oh.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. So that was ridiculous.
- 4:15Speaker 3: She's old, so it would have been great by now. Oh,
- 4:19Speaker 3: and Dyson.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah, she dies. Both rug earrings.
- 4:21Speaker 3: She wants the.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Perfect match for her grapes.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Yeah. Even in her 60s. Mm-hmm. Yikes.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:27Speaker 4: So, yeah, I was making my snide comments. If you're
- 4:32Speaker 4: on the Twitter, I was throwing some out there while
- 4:34Speaker 4: it was going on, which it's sad that that's become,
- 4:36Speaker 4: that live tweeting award ceremonies has become its own thing
- 4:40Speaker 4: at this point. Like, it happens every award ceremony now, basically.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Just dorks who have nothing to do and sit there
- 4:47Speaker 4: and watch it and make fun of it, like me. So, yeah,
- 4:50Speaker 4: it's funny that that's become its own little corner of
- 4:53Speaker 4: the subculture. Very strange. So movie-wise, the only other thing
- 4:57Speaker 4: I watched, and this is one of those I just
- 5:00Speaker 4: kind of had to watch for the sake of finalizing
- 5:03Speaker 4: it and saying I'd watched it because I'd heard so
- 5:05Speaker 4: much about it. And I'll go ahead and throw the
- 5:07Speaker 4: spoiler alert now because if you weren't listening a few
- 5:09Speaker 4: weeks ago, somebody on this crew spoiled it for me.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Frozen me?
- 5:15Speaker 3: I watched Frozen. Oh, that movie sucks.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yeah, so I basically already knew... what was going to
- 5:22Speaker 4: happen and how and to most of the people. So yeah, I, I,
- 5:27Speaker 4: there wasn't any surprise to it at all.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Were you surprised about how much it sucked?
- 5:31Speaker 4: I didn't hate it.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I hated that movie.
- 5:34Speaker 4: I just, it was one of those and I was
- 5:35Speaker 4: describing it to someone this week and I was like,
- 5:37Speaker 4: it's one you're going to question the judgment on a
- 5:40Speaker 4: lot of the characters and at some point you're going
- 5:43Speaker 4: to be screaming at the TV. No, there is a
- 5:46Speaker 4: lot of those.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Wait, what are you doing?
- 5:48Speaker 4: No, what? Stop.
- 5:50Speaker 3: No, no, no. That was the entire movie. Dude, you
- 5:52Speaker 3: ought to have heard Jay. He was pissed throughout the
- 5:54Speaker 3: whole thing. His main thing was the whole thing about
- 5:57Speaker 3: the wire being razor sharp.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I still don't get that. I mean, I guess
- 6:00Speaker 4: I understand it from the story standpoint. They needed somebody
- 6:03Speaker 4: to keep them on there. Otherwise, he would have climbed
- 6:05Speaker 4: across the first minute and they would have gotten out.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Which is what should have happened, really.
- 6:09Speaker 4: That's, you know, would have made sense. I mean, it's
- 6:12Speaker 4: a big, rounded piece of wire. I don't understand... How
- 6:16Speaker 4: it's razor sharp. How it's razor sharp. Why it would
- 6:18Speaker 4: slice up your hands like that.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I mean.
- 6:20Speaker 4: If you climb the whole way through, it might start
- 6:23Speaker 4: to wear on your hands a little bit. But I
- 6:24Speaker 4: don't see it being razor sharp.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So, yeah, that part didn't.
- 6:29Speaker 3: They weren't that high up, really. Right after we watched it,
- 6:32Speaker 3: like not a couple weeks later, that actually happened. Like
- 6:35Speaker 3: a ski lift fell. The cord broke or something. And
- 6:40Speaker 3: it was like higher than it was in Frozen. And
- 6:43Speaker 3: nobody got hurt. There was like a bruise or two.
- 6:45Speaker 3: And nobody got hurt. And you're talking about this dumb fucker. See,
- 6:48Speaker 3: my whole thing about not cursing for the year did
- 6:50Speaker 3: not last long.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I tried, I tried. It was a very valiant effort.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I think I've done better, but still, people that are
- 6:56Speaker 3: just that fucking stupid deserve to be cussed at.
- 6:58Speaker 4: I think I'm worse on the show, actually.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't help it. You all bring out the
- 7:01Speaker 3: worst in me.
- 7:01Speaker 4: I'm telling you.
- 7:02Speaker 3: But anyways, I'm like, I forgot what I was talking about.
- 7:04Speaker 3: You gotta tell me this is stupid, but he's gonna
- 7:06Speaker 3: break both his legs. No, you dumb bastard.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Well, the snow, the snow is hard.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I'm like... Snow is not hard.
- 7:15Speaker 5: If you fell into a giant pile of snow from
- 7:18Speaker 5: like 20 feet up, you would just sink into it
- 7:20Speaker 5: and probably be fine. You might be cold. You might
- 7:22Speaker 5: get snow in your panties.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Not if it was frozen on top. If it actually
- 7:26Speaker 4: froze solid.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Once you break that first layer.
- 7:29Speaker 4: But I'm saying, if that many people were, I don't know,
- 7:32Speaker 4: maybe they weren't, going that way maybe that's just where.
- 7:34Speaker 3: That and another thing learn how to jump from a
- 7:36Speaker 3: distance you do not land feet first you're supposed to
- 7:38Speaker 3: distribute your weight.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Evenly belly flop.
- 7:41Speaker 3: That way it absorbs it better and you.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Know as long as you didn't hit your head that
- 7:46Speaker 4: would work better but yeah i don't again if that's
- 7:49Speaker 4: what would have happened that's what would have happened to
- 7:51Speaker 4: me because like the first minute i was like i
- 7:53Speaker 4: fucking just jump go on just jump it's like you'll
- 7:56Speaker 4: be fine it's snow just jump so i probably would
- 7:59Speaker 4: have done that guy Or hopefully would have sent enough
- 8:01Speaker 4: to just climb out like they did.
- 8:02Speaker 3: You got eaten by wolves.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Yeah, probably. So, yeah. Never happens. I knew that part
- 8:08Speaker 4: was coming, too. So, yeah.
- 8:10Speaker 3: And wolves that travel in packs.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Wait, Creed?
- 8:12Speaker 5: Did you see that?
- 8:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I posted it on Facebook.
- 8:16Speaker 5: I thought that was you that posted it.
- 8:18Speaker 4: I think wolves do travel in packs.
- 8:21Speaker 3: But they don't attack, usually. They're more shy of people.
- 8:24Speaker 3: They don't, like.
- 8:25Speaker 5: They say that almost never, ever, ever happens.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Except in movies. Again, I can throw that stuff out.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I mean, I throw a lot of rules out the
- 8:34Speaker 4: window because things are movies. But sometimes they're just so overwhelming,
- 8:38Speaker 4: like in this movie, where you just want to scream
- 8:40Speaker 4: at them. The wolf thing I was ready to let slide.
- 8:43Speaker 4: It was just like, eh. I mean, that becomes your
- 8:45Speaker 4: villain in the movie. You kind of need that. Otherwise,
- 8:48Speaker 4: what the hell happens to them? They get down and
- 8:49Speaker 4: they go away.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Every character in this movie deserved to die. Every one
- 8:54Speaker 3: of them.
- 8:54Speaker 1: See, that's the thing.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I didn't hate them as much. Their judgment I did,
- 8:58Speaker 4: but for being stuck with these three characters, especially the
- 9:01Speaker 4: two that we end up spending most of the time with,
- 9:03Speaker 4: I didn't hate them. I was like, really? I've seen
- 9:05Speaker 4: a lot more annoying characters in a lot more horror movies.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I just didn't like them because they have that overprivileged, oh, well,
- 9:09Speaker 3: let's talk our way into getting something for free.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Well, that's because they're jerks, but I agree with that.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Which is why from the beginning I didn't like them.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I'm like, really? You think you're special? You think you
- 9:18Speaker 3: get a discount?
- 9:19Speaker 4: A lot of people. If you can scam your way in,
- 9:22Speaker 4: you win. That's how it works.
- 9:23Speaker 3: I hate people like that.
- 9:27Speaker 4: So I don't know if that was the other thing
- 9:28Speaker 4: I'd watch this week. I didn't hate it. It's exactly
- 9:32Speaker 4: what I expected, especially since I knew everything that was
- 9:34Speaker 4: going to happen.
- 9:35Speaker 3: I didn't spoil the very, very end, did I?
- 9:40Speaker 4: I knew somebody got out. I don't remember. There was
- 9:44Speaker 4: no big surprise there. If I was putting money on somebody,
- 9:47Speaker 4: I knew who it was going to be. Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Iceman?
- 9:51Speaker 4: Iceman didn't use his Iceman powers.
- 9:53Speaker 3: He, in fact, did not use his Iceman powers. And
- 9:55Speaker 3: I'm still not even sure if that's him or his brother,
- 9:57Speaker 3: because there's two of them that are kind of the same.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Sean and Aaron Ashmore.
- 10:00Speaker 4: He definitely looked like Iceman, but I don't know if
- 10:03Speaker 4: I paid attention enough to him, so who knows.
- 10:05Speaker 3: That's like me trying to differentiate which London is in
- 10:07Speaker 3: a movie.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Yeah, just know they both suck, and it saves you
- 10:10Speaker 4: a step, really.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Dazed and Confused still kicks ass. I watched that last night.
- 10:16Speaker 1: What did you watch?
- 10:18Speaker 3: Dazed and Confused.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Yes. Well, that'll be your intro into yours. Okay, so
- 10:21Speaker 4: that was it for me. What did you do?
- 10:23Speaker 3: We watched Days to Confuse while I took down the
- 10:25Speaker 3: Christmas tree.
- 10:26Speaker 4: You are timely as ever. Right on top of things.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I was putting it off because I
- 10:32Speaker 3: love Christmas. No, I wanted to leave it up, but
- 10:34Speaker 3: then it's like the longer I leave it up, the
- 10:36Speaker 3: more chance it has of staying up until next Christmas,
- 10:38Speaker 3: and then I won't have the joy of putting it
- 10:40Speaker 3: up next Christmas.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Plus you become one of those people. Yeah, whatever. Those
- 10:44Speaker 4: people that it's March and their Christmas tree is still up.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I was, I was, I don't know, one of these
- 10:48Speaker 3: days it's gonna stay up that long. I'm pretty sure
- 10:49Speaker 3: I've made it till February before. But, uh, yeah, we
- 10:52Speaker 3: watched Days of Confused, which still kicks ass, even when
- 10:54Speaker 3: you're watching the edited-for-TV TNT version.
- 10:57Speaker 5: Ugh.
- 10:57Speaker 4: I just try to avoid those all the time.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Yeah, because I watched, I saw, I didn't really watch,
- 11:02Speaker 3: I caught a clips of, uh, they've been showing Kill
- 11:04Speaker 3: Bill a lot on TNT. Yeah. Like, back-to-back-to-back, and just
- 11:08Speaker 3: the way they edit that is just frightening.
- 11:10Speaker 4: First one or both?
- 11:12Speaker 3: They were showing both of them, but the one I
- 11:13Speaker 3: caught was the scene of Oren doing the, uh, The
- 11:17Speaker 3: table scene. Oh, yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 4: The translator.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, how they managed to edit out most of the
- 11:24Speaker 3: blood in that scene, which is fascinating.
- 11:27Speaker 4: And she throws a few words around, too.
- 11:30Speaker 3: They changed a couple of them, and then they did
- 11:31Speaker 3: this thing where they edited her face to get rid
- 11:35Speaker 3: of one of them.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Get rid of one of what?
- 11:36Speaker 3: One of her curse words, and it was towards the end.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Yeah, she throws a few good ones in at the
- 11:40Speaker 4: end there.
- 11:41Speaker 3: But they morphed her face, which.
- 11:44Speaker 3: They didn't even bleep it or change the word. They
- 11:49Speaker 3: CGI'd her face to get rid of a word, and
- 11:52Speaker 3: that's just bizarre.
- 11:54Speaker 4: You really should not do that.
- 11:56Speaker 3: They should not. It's no, give me the keys, you
- 12:00Speaker 3: fairy godmother.
- 12:01Speaker 4: I was describing that this week, too. I was like, no,
- 12:05Speaker 4: that's the best. I've seen some good ones. There's some
- 12:08Speaker 4: second tier ones in Fargo. Those are my second favorite, but.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Give me the keys, you fairy godmother. And for anybody
- 12:17Speaker 3: who doesn't know what that is, give me the gun,
- 12:18Speaker 3: you motherfucker. Wasn't that it?
- 12:20Speaker 1: No, give me the.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Hand me the keys, you fucking cocksucker. It's the usual suspects.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 12:26Speaker 4: You know the line-up scene. Yeah, that's the line.
- 12:28Speaker 3: It's so ingrained in my head, it's give me the keys.
- 12:31Speaker 4: You fairy godmother.
- 12:33Speaker 3: That I don't even remember what the original line was.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's funny enough hearing them say that line
- 12:38Speaker 4: in the real movie, let alone when they change it
- 12:40Speaker 4: in the edited-for-TV version to that. Which I still say,
- 12:44Speaker 4: the second favorite of mine is the one that they
- 12:48Speaker 4: constantly make Steve Buscemi use in Fargo is Frozen. He becomes,
- 12:54Speaker 4: you know, I gave you simple Frozen instructions.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I was like, really? Simple Frozen instructions. I like my instructions.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Gonna go get some frozen pancakes. We already had pancakes
- 13:06Speaker 4: for lunch. So, oh man.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I love edited for TV movies. I gotta be in
- 13:11Speaker 3: the right mood for it. It's gotta be one that's
- 13:12Speaker 3: so littered with profanity.
- 13:14Speaker 4: I just, why would you do that?
- 13:16Speaker 3: Just don't play them on TV. What was the one
- 13:17Speaker 3: from Chasey and Amy? Bloody Snot Rag?
- 13:21Speaker 4: Bloody Snot Rag? Oh yeah, the nuns were a Bloody
- 13:27Speaker 4: Snot Rag.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Ah, good times. This morning I tried to make an
- 13:32Speaker 3: effort to watch In the Name of the King. I
- 13:35Speaker 3: watched it the first time.
- 13:38Speaker 4: See, I don't think I made it that long, but
- 13:39Speaker 4: I think mine's I just gave up and went to sleep,
- 13:41Speaker 4: which is usually what I do. But yeah, I think
- 13:43Speaker 4: I only made about 20 minutes in. It was horrible.
- 13:45Speaker 3: There was no cars for Jason Statham to drive in
- 13:47Speaker 3: this car. There was no guns, really. I still want
- 13:51Speaker 3: to watch it.
- 13:52Speaker 4: It's that level of awful kind of cool. It's so bad,
- 13:56Speaker 4: it was enjoyable for me.
- 13:59Speaker 3: It has such a cast that makes it hard to
- 14:01Speaker 3: hate this movie. You've got Jason Statham, Burt Reynolds is
- 14:04Speaker 3: in this.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I don't even think I made it to it.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Ron Perlman. You know? Matthew Lillard, who plays the most
- 14:11Speaker 3: despicable character I've ever seen.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Annoying as he always is.
- 14:14Speaker 3: But I usually love Matthew Lillard. He's so ridiculous. But
- 14:17Speaker 3: this was just, ugh. He played the sniveling character, which
- 14:21Speaker 3: I hate. Ugh. But then, I can't remember who else
- 14:24Speaker 3: was in it. We decided What's-Her-Face from Mallrats was in it.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Claire Forlani.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Is that her?
- 14:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I didn't recognize her. Maybe she had a sandwich since then. Um.
- 14:33Speaker 3: But yeah, it was just horrible. The acting was horrible.
- 14:36Speaker 3: The dialogue's horrible. But it was fun when I watched
- 14:39Speaker 3: of it. I was just laughing at it the whole time.
- 14:41Speaker 3: In the time that I watched it, Jason Statham kept
- 14:44Speaker 3: his shirt on. Which I'm not used to.
- 14:46Speaker 4: You're let down.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I am. He had his shirt on. There was no
- 14:50Speaker 3: oil involved. There was nothing that was in your typical
- 14:54Speaker 3: Jason Statham movie.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Well, it was just on when we got here and
- 14:57Speaker 4: I walked in and I'm like... Number one, we were
- 14:59Speaker 4: making fun of Ray Liotta's acting, because I'm still possibly
- 15:03Speaker 4: convinced maybe he just lucked into a good performance in Goodfellas,
- 15:06Speaker 4: because everything I see him in, he's so bad. He
- 15:10Speaker 4: is horrible. What kills me is he's wearing a leather
- 15:12Speaker 4: jacket like it's Goodfellas. His jacket looks like he bought
- 15:16Speaker 4: it in New York. I'm just like, what the hell
- 15:19Speaker 4: is the costuming going on here? Because that does not
- 15:21Speaker 4: look like a medieval coat of any type.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Oh, he missed the really bad part when he was controlling,
- 15:26Speaker 3: because apparently Puppet sees a bad guys so he was
- 15:30Speaker 3: like standing in this big swirl of blue glittery stuff
- 15:33Speaker 3: and he does this pose that involved like his hand
- 15:36Speaker 3: thrust out like this and his eyes were all like
- 15:39Speaker 3: serious look at me I'm a serious man face and
- 15:41Speaker 3: I was just like oh my god I burst out
- 15:44Speaker 3: laughing good times wow and that's all the edited for
- 15:47Speaker 3: TV movies that I watched I watched Dread which was
- 15:52Speaker 3: stupid I don't even remember which one it was it's
- 15:55Speaker 3: adapted from a short story of Clive Barker So you
- 15:58Speaker 3: know you're in trouble right there.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Yeah, they can't quite get those right. Or almost any
- 16:03Speaker 4: stories of his anymore.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Anyways, it's starring Jackson Rathbone.
- 16:07Speaker 4: That's a made-up name.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Who you would probably remember from S. Darko. And I
- 16:12Speaker 3: would make fun. I remember because he was in the
- 16:14Speaker 3: Twilight movies.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Okay, he was the dorky one. He's the one that
- 16:18Speaker 4: tries to kill her.
- 16:20Speaker 3: He's the one who makes the poop face through the
- 16:21Speaker 3: entire Twilight series.
- 16:23Speaker 4: You say that about a lot of people in that movie.
- 16:24Speaker 3: But he has serious, oh my god, I got a
- 16:26Speaker 3: poop face. It's like constantly the whole time he has
- 16:29Speaker 3: his face and you're like, oh, he's probably squeezing one
- 16:31Speaker 3: out right now. But it was horrible. The whole concept
- 16:34Speaker 3: of this movie was these college students were going to
- 16:36Speaker 3: do a project on fear and dread, what people's deepest,
- 16:40Speaker 3: darkest dreads and fears are. So they set up camcorders
- 16:43Speaker 3: and they record these people. Well, apparently one of them
- 16:45Speaker 3: just eventually snaps and he starts using these people's dreads
- 16:49Speaker 3: and fears to terrorize them. Which sounds like an okay
- 16:52Speaker 3: idea in theory, but it was just stupid. It was horrible.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I wanted to punch this movie in the face if
- 16:58Speaker 3: it had one. Yeah, it was bad. I'm not even
- 17:03Speaker 3: sure if I want to get into what else we
- 17:04Speaker 3: watched without Jay here. Because, yeah, I probably want to
- 17:09Speaker 3: talk about at least one, if not two of them.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I'll talk about Mega Piranha, I guess.
- 17:13Speaker 4: You could save it for next time. It's up to you.
- 17:16Speaker 3: No, I don't think he'll be too upset if I
- 17:18Speaker 3: go into Mega Piranha. He might. I don't know. It
- 17:22Speaker 3: was a mess. Had the worst acting I've ever seen
- 17:25Speaker 3: in my entire life. I'll bring up the points that
- 17:26Speaker 3: he probably would have brought up, because I listened to
- 17:28Speaker 3: him bitch about them through the entire movie.
- 17:29Speaker 4: If he'll be here, we can do, like, a special
- 17:31Speaker 4: segment at the end of him complaining.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Complaining about the movie?
- 17:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Because, yeah, I'm sure he'll probably want to bitch about it.
- 17:37Speaker 3: I guess we can edit that in at some point
- 17:39Speaker 3: or save it for the end of the show. Because
- 17:41Speaker 3: I'm sure he'll have something to say about the crystal skull, too.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Oh, I forgot about that one. Yeah.
- 17:46Speaker 3: He was not too happy with that one. We can... Yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 3: we'll save that one for him. Because he said he'll
- 17:52Speaker 3: be here later. Other than that, I don't think I
- 17:55Speaker 3: watched anything else. The kid was in her room all
- 17:58Speaker 3: week and went to Meekman World. He'll probably talk about that.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Those are awesome.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I love Pigment's role.
- 18:02Speaker 3: She was grounded from real TV.
- 18:05Speaker 4: She had to learn things?
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Damn it.
- 18:07Speaker 3: She could only watch educational stuff all weekend.
- 18:09Speaker 4: That's the best educational program you can watch.
- 18:12Speaker 3: That's still entertainment. That's not even just educational. That's still like.
- 18:15Speaker 4: That's pretty damned entertaining.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I'm like, that doesn't really... That doesn't really kind of
- 18:18Speaker 3: grounding her. She's getting to watch something she's enjoying to watch.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Make her watch like... I don't know. Lame stuff. Like,
- 18:26Speaker 3: I can't think of anything lame enough right now that
- 18:28Speaker 3: would describe.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Educational films that they used to show us in school,
- 18:31Speaker 4: because they were not entertaining. That's why everybody slept.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I went and saw The Elvis Birthday Tribute. That was
- 18:38Speaker 3: pretty exciting. Me and my mom, we go see that
- 18:39Speaker 3: every year. Two of them we've seen before. One of
- 18:41Speaker 3: them was different, and he had chick hips, so we
- 18:43Speaker 3: made fun of him the whole show.
- 18:45Speaker 4: I can't imagine you doing that to anyone.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Dude, I'm telling you, he was, like, normal from the
- 18:48Speaker 3: waist up, but then he had these thunder thighs that
- 18:50Speaker 3: put mine to shame. They were just... Man.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Man, that's all I can say. Good times. I don't
- 18:58Speaker 3: think I have anything else right now. I think I'm good.
- 19:00Speaker 3: All right. Marlene.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Actually, I don't think I watched anything at all.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Well, you couldn't hear it if you did.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I know.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 4: You were having TV issues. Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 5: My TV has no sound. It's brand new.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I fought with it, too. I don't understand what's
- 19:19Speaker 4: going on. I think it just had damaged speakers or something.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it sucks.
- 19:24Speaker 3: It's okay.
- 19:25Speaker 5: It's a brand new flat screen TV, but that's all right.
- 19:27Speaker 5: I don't need sound. I like to read anyway.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Told you. Quotes, captions, you're all set.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I don't think I've watched anything really. Maybe
- 19:38Speaker 5: some more TV shows like The British Office and The Inbetweeners.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Catch up on your Ricky Givage.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Everybody hates him now.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I love him. I love him.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Why does everyone hate him now?
- 19:50Speaker 4: Because you didn't watch The Golden Globes.
- 19:52Speaker 5: What'd he do?
- 19:53Speaker 3: Talk shit about just about everybody. I liked his intro
- 19:56Speaker 3: to Robert Downey Jr. I saw that later on TV.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Because it was true.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I'm like, well.
- 20:00Speaker 3: You would know I'm best from the Betty Ford Clinic
- 20:02Speaker 3: or whatever drug clinic.
- 20:03Speaker 4: See, what was funny is, and I was describing this yesterday,
- 20:06Speaker 4: because everybody else was complaining. I was like, basically he
- 20:08Speaker 4: said what everybody says. He just said it in front
- 20:10Speaker 4: of them. I'm like, everybody makes those jokes about Robert
- 20:13Speaker 4: Downey Jr. Everybody makes jokes about F.J.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Kutcher and Bruce Willis. And nobody has seen The Tourist.
- 20:18Speaker 4: And nobody cares about The Tourist. And I'm like, He
- 20:21Speaker 4: just said everything that everybody at home was thinking. Just
- 20:24Speaker 4: everybody else there was too busy kissing each other's ass
- 20:26Speaker 4: to actually say. So I was like, don't hire the
- 20:29Speaker 4: guy and then be mad for him doing what he does.
- 20:32Speaker 5: I mean, I'm sure it was somewhat approved by whoever.
- 20:35Speaker 4: No, I don't think so. Because he then bad-mouthed the
- 20:38Speaker 4: guy running the Golden Globes, which got him in trouble.
- 20:40Speaker 4: So I don't think, yeah, they were prepared. But I'm like, well,
- 20:44Speaker 4: that's your own fault. You shouldn't be stupid enough to
- 20:46Speaker 4: expect him to softball it. Because you know what? That's
- 20:49Speaker 4: not how he operates. He's a jerk, and he doesn't care.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I don't think I really cared about him until now,
- 20:54Speaker 3: and now I love him.
- 20:55Speaker 5: You might actually even like the British office. I know
- 20:57Speaker 5: you hate the American office.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I hate British.
- 20:59Speaker 3: In general. But he's kind of British. I know. Everyone's
- 21:02Speaker 3: a raw one. I'll break through. I hate, like, with
- 21:04Speaker 3: the entire cast. Except for S Club 7. If the
- 21:07Speaker 3: entire cast is British, it drives me nuts. Even on
- 21:10Speaker 3: S Club 7, it wasn't, like, the one guy with
- 21:11Speaker 3: the crocodile. He wasn't British. So at least I had.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Yeah, they went to Miami, so that screwed everything up. Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 3: But.
- 21:18Speaker 5: There's this scene in the British office that I love,
- 21:21Speaker 5: and I just laugh about it, like, a week later still. Like,
- 21:25Speaker 5: I'll just say it to myself, and I'll laugh about
- 21:29Speaker 5: it for, like, five minutes. It's really weird. It's the weirdest, like,
- 21:33Speaker 5: idiosyncrasy I've developed in the last month. There's this scene
- 21:37Speaker 5: in the British office where they've hired, or they've brought
- 21:41Speaker 5: someone else in to do a team-building exercise, and he's like,
- 21:44Speaker 5: all right, we're going to role-play. And David, which is,
- 21:48Speaker 5: you know, Ricky, whatever his name is. The guy's like, okay,
- 21:55Speaker 5: I'm going to play a hotel manager. And you're a
- 21:57Speaker 5: customer of the hotel who wants to make a complaint.
- 22:00Speaker 5: And he's like, he comes up, he's like, hi, I'd
- 22:01Speaker 5: like to make a complaint. The hotel manager goes, don't care.
- 22:05Speaker 5: He's like, but this is the complaint desk. He's like, yep,
- 22:10Speaker 5: don't care. And then he yells, there's been a rape upstairs.
- 22:14Speaker 4: What?
- 22:18Speaker 5: And the whole office just stops and it gets really
- 22:20Speaker 5: quiet and it's awkward and I laughed so hard about that.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 22:26Speaker 4: You're amused by odd things.
- 22:28Speaker 5: And I think about that and I'll yell that to people.
- 22:32Speaker 5: They don't understand what I'm talking about.
- 22:34Speaker 4: No, they're ready to call the police.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Do people know what I'm talking about when I yell
- 22:38Speaker 5: that randomly, like in a restaurant or wherever I am?
- 22:41Speaker 5: But it's so funny to me, and I laugh about
- 22:44Speaker 5: it for like five minutes.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Wow.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Which is really weird.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Yeah, kind of.
- 22:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Only you.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Love that show. Yeah, that's all I've done. That's... Watch TV,
- 23:02Speaker 5: read books. I did get internet, so I will be
- 23:05Speaker 5: catching up on movies again with Netflix and stuff like that.
- 23:10Speaker 5: I don't even think anything really funny or weird happened
- 23:14Speaker 5: to me.
- 23:14Speaker 3: A Marlena moment?
- 23:15Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a down week.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I mean, I'll think of it later, of course.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Driving home.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Yeah, but I mean, I can't think of any... God,
- 23:24Speaker 5: this week has kind of been like an off week
- 23:26Speaker 5: for me, I guess. Nothing extremely weird.
- 23:31Speaker 3: There was no black snake moan, no leg humping, no nothing.
- 23:34Speaker 5: Well, some guy did rub his butt on me while
- 23:36Speaker 5: I was dancing, but that's like.
- 23:39Speaker 1: That's par for the course.
- 23:41Speaker 5: Yeah, that's not even that big of a deal.
- 23:43Speaker 3: You know, but... It's just your regular Tuesday.
- 23:47Speaker 5: It was Friday, but....
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 5: Yeah, no, nothing.
- 23:52Speaker 3: All right.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Well, that's good. We can wrap it up. We're trying
- 23:54Speaker 4: to mix up these shows. We're doing some... that are
- 23:58Speaker 4: just going to be news. We're going to do some
- 24:00Speaker 4: that are just going to go straight into the sofa
- 24:02Speaker 4: theater discussion. So I think, you know, this week is
- 24:05Speaker 4: going to be more of the movie-based one. So we'll
- 24:07Speaker 4: actually take a break here, and we will be back
- 24:09Speaker 4: with this week's sofa theater feature.
- 24:21Speaker 8: We're taking the proof Cast means the end, they survive.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Just back Harder to choose.
- 24:28Speaker 9: Where to feed the fire, die, sink or swim Which
- 24:32Speaker 9: one shall I choose?
- 24:33Speaker 4: Yeah Stupid string, get paid By the hour, three-fifty He
- 24:40Speaker 4: can't figure out.
- 24:43Speaker 3: What's wrong This little boy, and this little girl, and
- 24:47Speaker 3: mother and father too, they all have an urge and oh.
- 24:51Speaker 9: What a urge for something to watch and chew, to chew.
- 24:54Speaker 10: Now he's not just swell and there strings a bell,
- 24:57Speaker 10: the popcorn is crispy and.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Hot, baby. If you've seen all.
- 25:01Speaker 4: The other horror films, this is for you.
- 25:23Speaker 2: More horror, more screams, and more fright than your wildest
- 25:27Speaker 2: nightmares in Frankenstein's Bloody Terror, an all-new super-shocker filmed in
- 25:33Speaker 2: Chillorama 70mm and gory color. Now meet the Wolf Monster,
- 25:41Speaker 2: a slashing, inhuman creature.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Who prowls by night for new victims.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It's terror beyond your most fearsome imagination as vampires using
- 25:51Speaker 2: the powers of witchcraft summon the hideous Wolf Monster. Don't
- 25:58Speaker 2: miss Frankenstein's Bloody Terror. It's a super shock spectacle of
- 26:03Speaker 2: hideous horror in Chillerama 70 and gaudy color. Rated GP.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Well, I love the movies.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Welcome to the biggest movie event of the year here.
- 26:19Speaker 5: We're going to have a great night, ladies and gentlemen.
- 26:21Speaker 3: And the Oscar goes to... And the Oscar goes to.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Nick Ledger.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 26:29Speaker 7: Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves. It's time for the third
- 26:34Speaker 7: annual Movie Meltdown Oscar Mayer Party. With all the blitz, glamour,
- 26:39Speaker 7: poor products, and vicious commentary you've come to know and love.
- 26:44Speaker 7: The Academy Awards will never be the same.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Bacon tastes good. Paw chops taste good.
- 26:50Speaker 7: Coming soon to this feed. Don't miss it. Oscar Meltdown 3D.
- 26:59Speaker 7: It's going to be artery clocking good.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Hi, this is Larry Blamire, also known as Dr.
- 27:08Speaker 6: Paul Armstrong, doing science for Movie Meltdown.
- 27:13Speaker 4: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Over the course of the last three years, our lab
- 27:19Speaker 3: has combined the DNA from a variety of species to
- 27:22Speaker 3: create a completely new life form.
- 27:24Speaker 2: And, as you know, Ginger has exceeded all expectations in
- 27:28Speaker 2: her ability to produce medicinal proteins for livestock.
- 27:31Speaker 3: What you don't know is that since the birth of Fred,
- 27:34Speaker 3: we have an upgraded splicing technique which can be applied
- 27:37Speaker 3: to the most sophisticated of organisms. Namely... Human beings.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Hold on, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves now.
- 27:46Speaker 9: By incorporating human DNA into the hybrid template, we can
- 27:49Speaker 9: begin to address any number of genetically influenced diseases.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, diabetes, even some forms of cancer.
- 27:59Speaker 10: Well, I can't tell you how excited we are. The
- 28:08Speaker 10: entire board is thrilled with the progress you've made. Which
- 28:13Speaker 10: is why we are so anxious to move on to
- 28:16Speaker 10: phase two.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Phase two?
- 28:19Speaker 10: The product stage. We need to isolate the gene in
- 28:23Speaker 10: Ginger and Fred that produces your magic protein. We are
- 28:27Speaker 10: shutting down the splicing facilities, retooling your labs for intensive
- 28:31Speaker 10: chemical analysis.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Shutting down?
- 28:34Speaker 3: I don't understand. We're handing you the medical breakthrough of
- 28:38Speaker 3: the century. We could begin to.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Elsa, we all know that can't happen right now. The
- 28:43Speaker 1: moral outrage would be completely out of control. Regulators and politicians,
- 28:46Speaker 1: they'd tear us to pieces.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Please. If we don't use human DNA now, Someone else will. Okay,
- 28:55Speaker 3: we wrote this for a purpose to motivate you at
- 28:58Speaker 3: this time. With this hypnotizing bass line, please feel free
- 29:01Speaker 3: to lose your mind.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Can't get high, get money, get sex, get real.
- 29:05Speaker 1: All in the twine.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, this is stadium music.
- 29:08Speaker 1: 50,000 at a time. Let's get right, let's get right,
- 29:11Speaker 1: let's get right, okay, okay.
- 29:13Speaker 9: Let's get right, let's get right, let's get right, okay, okay.
- 29:17Speaker 4: All the girls want happy fun. All right, we are
- 29:28Speaker 4: back with Movie Meltdown Sofa Theater. This week's Sofa Theater
- 29:31Speaker 4: feature is Splice. The year is 2009. Director Vincenzo Natalia.
- 29:38Speaker 4: They plot, according to IMDb, two young rebellious scientists are
- 29:42Speaker 4: told by their employers to halt groundbreaking work that is
- 29:45Speaker 4: seeing them produce new creatures with medical benefits by splicing
- 29:49Speaker 4: together multiple organisms' DNA. They decide to secretly continue their work,
- 29:54Speaker 4: but this time splicing in human DNA.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Dun dun dun!
- 29:58Speaker 4: And with that, spoiler alert, because there's all kinds of
- 30:01Speaker 4: crazy things going on in this movie, and we're going
- 30:03Speaker 4: to divulge them all. So, you've been warned. With that,
- 30:08Speaker 4: where would you like to begin?
- 30:09Speaker 1: Sarah Pauly's a bitch.
- 30:12Speaker 4: That's all I got on her.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Five more beds, who's the gum ratio?
- 30:18Speaker 4: You guys can say what you want. I will go
- 30:20Speaker 4: on record right now, and I've said it before. I
- 30:22Speaker 4: have a weird soft spot for Sarah Pauly. I don't
- 30:25Speaker 4: even fully understand it. She's just.
- 30:27Speaker 3: She was all right up until this point. She just
- 30:28Speaker 3: looked homely as hell in this movie.
- 30:30Speaker 5: I feel that way about Adrian Brody, so it's okay.
- 30:32Speaker 4: See, that's what I was thinking. They're actually a pretty
- 30:33Speaker 4: good pair, because they actually do seem like they would
- 30:36Speaker 4: match up in the real world. They both kind of
- 30:38Speaker 4: work on that level. They're not unconventionally attractive, but they
- 30:42Speaker 4: kind of are in their own weird way.
- 30:43Speaker 5: You're actually kind of ugly, but for some strange reason,
- 30:45Speaker 5: I still want you.
- 30:47Speaker 4: I think Sarah's cute.
- 30:49Speaker 3: I thought she was cute before this, but then something
- 30:51Speaker 3: about this is just... Maybe it was just bad lighting
- 30:53Speaker 3: or something.
- 30:54Speaker 4: I think it was bad lighting.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Bad makeup or something.
- 30:57Speaker 5: No makeup at all.
- 30:59Speaker 4: She's a science nerd.
- 31:00Speaker 3: What do you want? Something. Seriously. Holy Christ.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Well, first off, I'll have to say this movie was
- 31:09Speaker 4: horribly mismarketed. If you ever saw the trailer, because I
- 31:13Speaker 4: saw it at the front of something like last year,
- 31:16Speaker 4: well before it came out, and I was just like, oh,
- 31:18Speaker 4: this looks bad. And it just looked like a bad ripoff. Like,
- 31:22Speaker 4: it very much looked like a species ripoff, I think
- 31:25Speaker 4: is what I called it. I think we watched it
- 31:27Speaker 4: at the beginning of something, and I was like, yeah,
- 31:29Speaker 4: they already had this movie, it was called Species. And that's, like,
- 31:33Speaker 4: their big mistake, because I think this is way different
- 31:36Speaker 4: and kind of a lot smarter. I mean, Species just
- 31:39Speaker 4: becomes a big goofy action movie. It still shares a
- 31:42Speaker 4: little bit there in the basic setup, but... I think
- 31:45Speaker 4: by the end, it's just them running around shooting at her,
- 31:47Speaker 4: and it's Michael Madsen delivering his wonderful lines. So, I mean,
- 31:52Speaker 4: it becomes a goofy action movie more than anything at
- 31:55Speaker 4: the end of that, where this, I think, enters into
- 31:58Speaker 4: a lot of different territory that that one doesn't even
- 32:01Speaker 4: begin to cross. So, I don't know, I think that
- 32:04Speaker 4: was their mistake right off the bat, and again, that's
- 32:06Speaker 4: usually not the filmmakers doing, that's the studio gets a
- 32:09Speaker 4: hold of it and sends their editors in there, and they...
- 32:12Speaker 4: on one hand I understand why they're really trying to
- 32:14Speaker 4: sensationalize it they're really trying to play up the horror
- 32:17Speaker 4: angle which is how they sold it it comes off
- 32:19Speaker 4: like it's a creepy monster movie and it's like not
- 32:23Speaker 4: really I mean there's a little of that that comes
- 32:25Speaker 4: into play but I don't know I think they were
- 32:28Speaker 4: probably just trying to pull in that market but it's
- 32:30Speaker 4: once again with all of these like mismarketing trailers it's
- 32:33Speaker 4: like you're gonna pull them in there for that and
- 32:36Speaker 4: then they're just gonna be mad because they didn't get
- 32:38Speaker 4: what they expected going in we've had that many times
- 32:40Speaker 4: lately so I don't know. I think this was one
- 32:43Speaker 4: of those cases where they just really marketed it wrong,
- 32:47Speaker 4: and it's a very different movie than how they presented it.
- 32:50Speaker 3: I'm not really sure what to think about this movie yet.
- 32:53Speaker 3: I haven't digested it enough.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Still processing.
- 32:57Speaker 5: The only thing I can think of is... The only
- 32:59Speaker 5: word I can use to describe this movie is absurd.
- 33:03Speaker 4: I'll give you... It crosses some lines into absurdity and
- 33:06Speaker 4: bad taste on occasion, but... Absurd. It's definitely... totally plays
- 33:13Speaker 4: on the old-school mad scientist storyline. I mean, it's exactly that,
- 33:17Speaker 4: only mixed with modern science. It's taking that exact Frankenstein
- 33:22Speaker 4: story and then adding DNA splicing into the middle of it,
- 33:25Speaker 4: which is kind of cool, actually. I mean, that is
- 33:28Speaker 4: taking that same story that we saw for years and
- 33:31Speaker 4: just adding a whole new weird scientific spin on it.
- 33:35Speaker 4: So much so, and I thought at first, I was like, well,
- 33:37Speaker 4: maybe it was just sort of a minor thing they
- 33:39Speaker 4: were going for. I don't think I realized until after
- 33:42Speaker 4: the fact. Did you realize the names of the characters?
- 33:46Speaker 4: They're Clive and Elsa, who are the two actors that
- 33:49Speaker 4: played the Doctor and the Bride in The Bride of Frankenstein.
- 33:53Speaker 4: It's not subtle at all. It was very heavily influenced
- 33:56Speaker 4: and meant to be a big homage to old school
- 33:59Speaker 4: science horror movies. So I think it makes it okay
- 34:02Speaker 4: then that they go in, you know, sort of knowing
- 34:05Speaker 4: that and playing on those tropes.
- 34:08Speaker 3: I was aggravated at how it just suddenly changed. It's like,
- 34:11Speaker 3: he goes from hating Dren, wanting to kill her, and
- 34:15Speaker 3: her defending, and then all of a sudden, just like that,
- 34:17Speaker 3: it's completely switched, and the next thing you know, he's
- 34:20Speaker 3: naked with her. It was just too sudden. It seemed
- 34:26Speaker 3: like there was no real in-between. There wasn't any kind of...
- 34:30Speaker 3: The changing of his mind.
- 34:32Speaker 4: There kind of was. Well, that's what I thought was.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Not really. Not as drastic as it was.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Not that drastically, maybe. But I think that was what
- 34:38Speaker 4: was kind of cool. And that's what I kind of
- 34:40Speaker 4: like about their relationship or being the main two characters
- 34:43Speaker 4: in this is like they constantly change. It is almost
- 34:47Speaker 4: like parenting. And this is such a weird thing because
- 34:50Speaker 4: it's mixing weird DNA testing with parenting is what it
- 34:54Speaker 4: becomes as it goes along. So in those stages in
- 34:57Speaker 4: the middle there, they really do start to behave like parents.
- 35:00Speaker 4: And they do almost have to switch off. It's like
- 35:02Speaker 4: she totally gets sucked in and has this maternal instinct
- 35:06Speaker 4: kicked in and she becomes very mothering and wants to
- 35:09Speaker 4: take care of it. And then it's like.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Suddenly it's gone. It's just like an instant. There's no in-between.
- 35:15Speaker 3: There's only one scene.
- 35:17Speaker 5: The thing became a teenager.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Yeah, and she switched places. Then she became the bad
- 35:21Speaker 4: cop in the scenario. Then she had to be the
- 35:23Speaker 4: one with the strong hand and she had to yell
- 35:25Speaker 4: at her and she had to do that. And then
- 35:26Speaker 4: he became the good parent and he was just like, no,
- 35:28Speaker 4: it's okay, don't, you know, he was always there kind
- 35:31Speaker 4: of defending her once she hit that teenage stage, and
- 35:33Speaker 4: he's like, don't yell at her.
- 35:34Speaker 3: It was just too sudden. There was no transition for me.
- 35:37Speaker 4: She grows up in a couple months. There's not a
- 35:39Speaker 4: whole lot of time for this.
- 35:39Speaker 3: No, I mean, for them, for their transition, there should
- 35:42Speaker 3: have been more, I don't know, it just seemed like
- 35:44Speaker 3: the roles just reversed too quickly for me. It's like
- 35:47Speaker 3: there was no in-between, and that's what, I'm like, that's
- 35:49Speaker 3: not realistic. There's got to be some in-between where you,
- 35:53Speaker 3: think about things or something, not just constantly, like, or
- 35:55Speaker 3: just instantly, oh.
- 35:57Speaker 4: Well, it's okay, you know?
- 35:59Speaker 3: And that's from I'm going to kill it to, aw,
- 36:02Speaker 3: let's not kill it.
- 36:03Speaker 4: But then she got pretty, like, before it was a
- 36:05Speaker 4: creepy looking little kid.
- 36:06Speaker 3: With a little split head and a hair lip.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Like, but that part, I mean, that part is really creepy. Like,
- 36:13Speaker 4: that first, when it's just, like, the weird little creature
- 36:15Speaker 4: hopping around, at that point it does. I mean, it
- 36:18Speaker 4: starts playing on all these other movies. You do see
- 36:20Speaker 4: a whole lot of Alien in that first scene when
- 36:22Speaker 4: they're playing with the, creature running around the room so
- 36:24Speaker 4: I'm at that point thinking it's going down that road
- 36:27Speaker 4: but by the time the creature comes out in a
- 36:29Speaker 4: little powder blue dress I'm like okay this is entering
- 36:32Speaker 4: into weird creepy territory here and and stuff you haven't
- 36:35Speaker 4: really seen before because they they didn't have you know
- 36:39Speaker 4: attached themselves to it and that's when the point where
- 36:41Speaker 4: it's not like a science experiment anymore where it becomes
- 36:44Speaker 4: parenting and they have to start applying like parenting strategies
- 36:49Speaker 4: and rules to it. I mean, the times when she's
- 36:51Speaker 4: trying to discipline her. No, she can't get away with that.
- 36:54Speaker 4: You don't do that with a science experiment. You do
- 36:56Speaker 4: that with a child. I think that's what's kind of cool.
- 36:59Speaker 3: That's the only reason I never want to have kids.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Well, this isn't really an advertisement for parenting. This makes
- 37:07Speaker 4: you see a lot of the downsides of having an offspring,
- 37:10Speaker 4: even if it's genetically DNA enhanced. Don't you hate when
- 37:15Speaker 4: that happens?
- 37:16Speaker 5: Sprout wings and this morning i was all four babies
- 37:20Speaker 5: being decanted this made me change my mind.
- 37:23Speaker 4: But it i don't i think that's the part that's
- 37:25Speaker 4: kind of cool is that middle section there where it
- 37:27Speaker 4: actually it becomes more about their characters and you do
- 37:30Speaker 4: watch her kind of dealing with that where she goes
- 37:33Speaker 4: from this this like modernized woman who's like all about
- 37:37Speaker 4: her science nerd career and wants nothing to do with
- 37:39Speaker 4: having a baby and having to carry it around and
- 37:41Speaker 4: all the bullshit that comes with The interrupting their lives
- 37:44Speaker 4: portion of it that I think a lot of women
- 37:46Speaker 4: go through at that point. And all it takes is
- 37:49Speaker 4: being exposed to her, and the maternal thing kicks in.
- 37:52Speaker 4: And that's kind of cool that it starts to explore that. Again,
- 37:56Speaker 4: it never really gives it a chance to go fully
- 37:59Speaker 4: on any of these little avenues, but I think it
- 38:01Speaker 4: enters into a lot of really interesting territory.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Dren, you must never, ever run off on me like
- 38:09Speaker 3: that again.
- 38:09Speaker 4: Do you understand?
- 38:11Speaker 3: What?
- 38:12Speaker 4: Do you understand?
- 38:12Speaker 3: Dren, look at me.
- 38:14Speaker 4: That was bad.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Bad Dren! I'm sorry, sweetie. I'm not angry at you.
- 38:23Speaker 3: I was just... I was really worried. But then that
- 38:28Speaker 3: maternal instinct just kind of dies. She's like ready to
- 38:31Speaker 3: cut off parts of it, you know?
- 38:33Speaker 4: Kind of. I think then they enter into this other
- 38:35Speaker 4: weird area, which is then you enter into her backstory
- 38:38Speaker 4: and her mother.
- 38:39Speaker 1: I never really.
- 38:42Speaker 4: They.
- 38:43Speaker 5: Brought it up, they didn't elaborate on it, which was
- 38:45Speaker 5: really fucking annoying.
- 38:46Speaker 4: It's pretty minor. I mean, they mention it here and there,
- 38:49Speaker 4: but I think that's where they sort of play it in,
- 38:52Speaker 4: is you start to see... I mean, what happens with
- 38:54Speaker 4: most dysfunctional families, it's like you either do a 180
- 38:58Speaker 4: and you become completely against everything, you become, you know,
- 39:02Speaker 4: you're so working to not be like them... or you
- 39:06Speaker 4: become exactly like your parent, you become, you fall into
- 39:09Speaker 4: whatever horrible behaviors, and there's many different roads that goes
- 39:12Speaker 4: down too, but a good portion of them turn around
- 39:15Speaker 4: and become what was so horrible to them growing up,
- 39:18Speaker 4: you become your parent, and she kind of starts skating
- 39:21Speaker 4: that line of being a little too hard on the kid,
- 39:24Speaker 4: and almost abusive in certain situations, granted, the kid's like
- 39:28Speaker 4: killing the family pet, but still, it's like she's crossing
- 39:32Speaker 4: that line. And I think it's another thing. They kind
- 39:34Speaker 4: of work in there that's sort of interesting.
- 39:36Speaker 3: She shouldn't have took the damn cat from her in
- 39:38Speaker 3: the first place. That's what she did.
- 39:40Speaker 4: She really shouldn't. That's the part I agree with you
- 39:41Speaker 4: she was kind of mean. Because, I mean, she'd already
- 39:44Speaker 4: had it. If she was going to get sick, odds
- 39:45Speaker 4: are she would have already gotten sick. And you guys
- 39:47Speaker 4: brought it up while we were watching it. She's going
- 39:48Speaker 4: to die soon anyway. For God's sakes, let her have
- 39:50Speaker 4: a cat. So, I'll give you that one.
- 39:52Speaker 1: You're in a barn.
- 39:53Speaker 3: You won't let her out.
- 39:54Speaker 6: God.
- 39:54Speaker 5: I mean, like, you're keeping her in a dirty fucking barn. Like, honestly,
- 39:59Speaker 5: is a cat going to have more germs than the barn?
- 40:03Speaker 4: Crazy feline germs.
- 40:03Speaker 5: That, like, they're, like, letting her swim in?
- 40:06Speaker 3: Like.
- 40:07Speaker 5: slats and boards there's no it can't be like rains.
- 40:10Speaker 4: In there that's what i was thinking i was like
- 40:12Speaker 4: it's winter they're wearing huge coats she's running around in
- 40:14Speaker 4: a cotton dress for god's sakes and nothing else i'm
- 40:17Speaker 4: like i hope you like spliced in some like seal
- 40:20Speaker 4: dna so her skin's like resilient against this weather she
- 40:24Speaker 4: ain't got no shoes later she's not even wearing underwear
- 40:28Speaker 4: as we see so like she all she's got is
- 40:30Speaker 4: that damn little dress i'm like she's freezing for god's
- 40:32Speaker 4: sakes give her a coat it'd.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Be uncomfortable to wear underpants you have to have a
- 40:36Speaker 3: tail hole.
- 40:37Speaker 4: You can do that. I've seen dogs with underwear.
- 40:40Speaker 5: I mean, I feel like they were trying to make
- 40:42Speaker 5: the place seem all like it was a home or
- 40:44Speaker 5: something for her.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Why didn't they just let her in the home? I know.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I know.
- 40:47Speaker 5: They were like, someone could see her, but they can't.
- 40:50Speaker 5: I don't know what it was.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 40:51Speaker 6: I'm like.
- 40:52Speaker 4: I thought that was weird, too.
- 40:53Speaker 5: Put curtains on the fucking window.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Like, it's like 20 feet away. What difference does it
- 40:58Speaker 4: make from that? Their only other excuse was she needed
- 41:01Speaker 4: a place to swim. I'm like, well, she could walk outside.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Put her in the damn bathroom.
- 41:04Speaker 4: It was like... She can go out and swim. That's
- 41:06Speaker 4: how people with pools operate. They don't have to put
- 41:08Speaker 4: it in the house. I mean, shit. So, yeah, that
- 41:11Speaker 4: was weird little logicals. But, again, I think they were
- 41:13Speaker 4: just trying to get to the point that they needed
- 41:16Speaker 4: to be. And I guess she needed to be in
- 41:18Speaker 4: the barn because she starts to go kind of crazy later. But, again,
- 41:21Speaker 4: some of that is.
- 41:21Speaker 3: She went crazy because they drove her that way.
- 41:23Speaker 4: Yeah. Again, a lot of that is isolation. It's like
- 41:26Speaker 4: she had no way to... interact with anyone which is
- 41:30Speaker 4: kind of why she starts and again that's what i
- 41:32Speaker 4: think is kind of interesting in this is it becomes
- 41:35Speaker 4: parenting then it just becomes like a social experiment you
- 41:38Speaker 4: know it's like the reason that she then like she
- 41:41Speaker 4: hits puberty and she starts going through especially her because
- 41:44Speaker 4: she's so animalistic she starts going through these hormonal changes
- 41:47Speaker 4: and basically at that point you have to find someone
- 41:50Speaker 4: to mate with the only man she's ever been around
- 41:52Speaker 4: her entire life is kind of like her father so
- 41:55Speaker 4: it enters into a really creepy situation there And I
- 41:59Speaker 4: think that's the weird social experiment part of it. If
- 42:02Speaker 4: you take a child and never let them interact with
- 42:06Speaker 4: anyone else, it's like when they get to that point,
- 42:08Speaker 4: that's all they have to work with. It's like they're
- 42:10Speaker 4: going to start attaching themselves to the only other person
- 42:13Speaker 4: that you respond to sexually, which is creepy. So don't
- 42:17Speaker 4: do that. Don't lock your child away, for God's sake.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I know people that are like that.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Yeah. No naming of names, I suppose.
- 42:27Speaker 3: I thought it was a father figure, but in general.
- 42:31Speaker 8: Old dudes?
- 42:32Speaker 3: Yeah, old dudes.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Okay, wait, now I know who you're talking about.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Oops.
- 42:39Speaker 4: Sorry about that. But, again, in the real world, that
- 42:44Speaker 4: stuff happens.
- 42:44Speaker 3: At least she doesn't have a tail.
- 42:48Speaker 4: They had that removed. She was born with a creepy tail.
- 42:51Speaker 4: We know it. It's in a jar somewhere. Oh, God. But, again,
- 42:56Speaker 4: I mean, that shows there is, like, a lot of
- 42:58Speaker 4: this is, like, stuff that ties into reality. I mean,
- 43:02Speaker 4: as far-fetched and ridiculous as a lot of these ideas
- 43:05Speaker 4: are that are floating around here, there's a lot of
- 43:06Speaker 4: stuff rooted in the basics of, like, human interaction and, like,
- 43:10Speaker 4: the relationship between the couple and the relationship between parents
- 43:13Speaker 4: and a child. And I think that's the stuff that
- 43:16Speaker 4: I found really kind of interesting about the whole thing
- 43:18Speaker 4: is that stuff. And you enter into the weird little...
- 43:22Speaker 4: like mental stuff like the doll i think the doll
- 43:25Speaker 4: was like a really cool touch that that she you
- 43:27Speaker 4: know her abusive mother wouldn't even let her have a
- 43:29Speaker 4: doll so she had to hide this doll away and
- 43:32Speaker 4: that was her perfect little you know doll that she
- 43:34Speaker 4: took care of and then this creature becomes the exact
- 43:37Speaker 4: same thing nobody can find out about it so she's
- 43:39Speaker 4: hiding this life form away and it's her perfect daughter
- 43:43Speaker 4: kind of sort of whatever you want to call it
- 43:45Speaker 4: at that point but she at.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Least seemed to have love for the doll i mean
- 43:48Speaker 3: she turned around screwed over her daughter if.
- 43:50Speaker 4: You put it Again, she hit that weird dividing line.
- 43:53Speaker 4: It's like she was nice and then she just kind
- 43:55Speaker 4: of became a stern mother and then she hit that
- 43:57Speaker 4: point where... Once she's got her strapped down to the table,
- 44:00Speaker 4: she's scary. Like, it really does seem like... I mean,
- 44:03Speaker 4: she strips her down and starts cutting pieces off of her.
- 44:05Speaker 5: Yeah, she was like... The whole stripping her down was
- 44:08Speaker 5: totally unnecessary because she cut off her tail.
- 44:11Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think as she was saying... I think
- 44:13Speaker 4: as she's narrating off her research, I think she was
- 44:16Speaker 4: saying she needed to remove the human... The things that
- 44:19Speaker 4: were humanizing her because she's animalistic and she can't be trusted.
- 44:22Speaker 4: And all we're doing is perpetuating this notion that she's
- 44:26Speaker 4: a human... when really she's dangerous, and she, I think, yeah,
- 44:31Speaker 4: once again, you guys kind of made her that way,
- 44:33Speaker 4: but I think that was her reasoning for taking those
- 44:36Speaker 4: extreme steps, she took the necklace off of her, she
- 44:38Speaker 4: took the clothes off of her, because she didn't want
- 44:39Speaker 4: her to be a person, or to treat her like
- 44:42Speaker 4: a person, when she's really this dangerous creature, which is
- 44:45Speaker 4: your own fault, you started, you know, you started naming her,
- 44:48Speaker 4: and giving her clothes from day one, so, I mean,
- 44:51Speaker 4: he was the one that wanted to keep it as
- 44:52Speaker 4: an experiment and, you know, keep her in the lab
- 44:55Speaker 4: and keep, you know, everything very cut and dry. And
- 44:58Speaker 4: she started blurring those lines and then realized you can't
- 45:00Speaker 4: do that because she is a dangerous creature.
- 45:04Speaker 5: Oh, that makes sense. I don't think I was paying attention.
- 45:08Speaker 3: I feel sorry for Dren. I mean, they totally fucked
- 45:10Speaker 3: her over.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it plays both sides, especially the third act.
- 45:14Speaker 4: I guess we can get to that later. But, I mean,
- 45:16Speaker 4: all the way up through the rest of it, you do,
- 45:18Speaker 4: especially the teenage years, I mean, She is going through
- 45:21Speaker 4: a lot of stuff, and you do start to, you know,
- 45:24Speaker 4: sort of sympathize with her, and you're seeing them as, like,
- 45:27Speaker 4: the mean parents, especially Sarah Polly. Took her damn cat away.
- 45:30Speaker 4: She took her cat away. She's just kind of yelling
- 45:33Speaker 4: at her everything she does, which it is one of those, though,
- 45:35Speaker 4: it is, you start to see her point. Like, I'm
- 45:38Speaker 4: looking at it from her perspective, and she is being
- 45:40Speaker 4: that stern parent and doing, you know, sometimes there are
- 45:43Speaker 4: times when I feel like, as a parent, you see,
- 45:45Speaker 4: you need to tell them, you know what, you don't
- 45:46Speaker 4: get to do everything you want. That's growing up. That's life.
- 45:49Speaker 4: And if you let kids get away with everything, your
- 45:51Speaker 4: kids run all over you and they become horrible people. So,
- 45:54Speaker 4: I mean, there is a point where you do have
- 45:55Speaker 4: to do that.
- 45:56Speaker 3: Sometimes you have to give them something.
- 45:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, she had a pretty rough life, so
- 46:02Speaker 4: I think the cat was a mean call there. She
- 46:04Speaker 4: didn't need to divide it there.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Which is why I understand why, when she finally gave
- 46:07Speaker 3: the cat, when she gave the cat back to her,
- 46:08Speaker 3: I understand why she did what she did.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Again, spoiler alert, we've already spoiled a hell of a
- 46:14Speaker 4: lot of stuff going on, but.
- 46:16Speaker 3: It's like, you're going to take my cat, but now
- 46:17Speaker 3: that you decide it's okay. No, I want your fucking
- 46:19Speaker 3: cat now.
- 46:20Speaker 4: It's free. And it was, I mean, she really, that's
- 46:22Speaker 4: the ultimate of her rebellious teenager stage where she's like,
- 46:25Speaker 4: you know what? Fuck you. You know, it really is
- 46:27Speaker 4: that I'm going to act out violently at this point because,
- 46:31Speaker 4: you know, and I'll show you, you know, she takes
- 46:33Speaker 4: that very, again, that very bratty teenage version that, you know,
- 46:37Speaker 4: we were talking about last time out that you get
- 46:39Speaker 4: to that point of defiance, if nothing else, that because
- 46:43Speaker 4: I can at this point, So I don't know, I
- 46:46Speaker 4: think that's all kind of well done at this stage.
- 46:49Speaker 4: They kind of handle all that. Pretty smart, the way
- 46:52Speaker 4: that they piece that stuff together.
- 46:53Speaker 3: I like how easy it is to apparently pick locks
- 46:56Speaker 3: in these high-tech security offices.
- 46:58Speaker 4: He was a scientist.
- 46:59Speaker 3: But still, yeah. What?
- 47:01Speaker 4: He like jammed tweezers in there and the door popped
- 47:03Speaker 4: right open.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I'm like, really? Is that all it takes? I grab
- 47:06Speaker 3: my tweezers. I'm going down to the science place. Do
- 47:09Speaker 3: we have a science place?
- 47:11Speaker 4: I like that you refer to it as a science place, too.
- 47:13Speaker 4: It says that real big on the side. Science place.
- 47:16Speaker 3: We're all the learnings.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Nerds welcome.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Don't let me in. I'm a nerd. I'm not really
- 47:22Speaker 3: a nerd.
- 47:23Speaker 4: You're a geek.
- 47:23Speaker 3: I'm a geek.
- 47:24Speaker 4: It's a difference.
- 47:24Speaker 3: I don't have any glasses with tape on them or anything.
- 47:26Speaker 3: I don't have any pocket protectors.
- 47:28Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 47:30Speaker 4: I guess we can at least get up to the
- 47:32Speaker 4: point where she then sort of crosses the line with Dad.
- 47:36Speaker 4: I mean, he set it up, but he's so blind
- 47:39Speaker 4: by it all. Like, he's still, up until that point,
- 47:41Speaker 4: kind of looking at her like a kid. And he's
- 47:43Speaker 4: dancing around with her. But it's all still kind of
- 47:46Speaker 4: parental at that point. He doesn't see it that way.
- 47:48Speaker 4: You can see her already kind of having this crush
- 47:51Speaker 4: on him. And she's been drawing him and all this
- 47:53Speaker 4: other stuff. So you see her starting to develop these
- 47:57Speaker 4: weird feelings towards him because he's the only man in
- 48:00Speaker 4: her life. But yeah, then we enter the scene in
- 48:03Speaker 4: the barn where she definitely takes it to the next level.
- 48:07Speaker 4: So here's the part I have to say. I didn't
- 48:09Speaker 4: see that coming. I knew she was going to attempt that.
- 48:13Speaker 4: I didn't see him following through with it. That caught
- 48:15Speaker 4: me off guard. I was like, whoa, whoa, okay. Wow,
- 48:20Speaker 4: he's going there. All right. I did not see that coming.
- 48:24Speaker 4: I knew she was going to make the move at
- 48:26Speaker 4: some point, and he initially kind of tries to fend
- 48:29Speaker 4: her off, and that's what I expected him to do.
- 48:30Speaker 5: For like five seconds?
- 48:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 48:32Speaker 3: I was like... No, this is wrong.
- 48:34Speaker 5: Okay, now, come on now.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Sarah probably does seem like a bitch, so I'm guessing
- 48:37Speaker 3: she probably ain't putting out quite that much.
- 48:39Speaker 4: They already mentioned. I mean, it had been a long
- 48:41Speaker 4: time since this experiment started, and... He'd had the moment
- 48:45Speaker 4: right before that where he was looking at her on
- 48:47Speaker 4: the camera, and I think that's the first time you
- 48:48Speaker 4: see him start to see her as this sexual creature. Like,
- 48:51Speaker 4: all of a sudden, she's basically like a teenage girl,
- 48:55Speaker 4: and she's hot for a second. And that's why he
- 48:57Speaker 4: kind of freaks out with the computer there, because I
- 48:59Speaker 4: think that's the first time it ever really occurred to him.
- 49:01Speaker 4: And then she follows it up with putting the moves
- 49:04Speaker 4: on him, so it's kind of a weird moment there anyway, but... Yeah,
- 49:08Speaker 4: I kind of, his character all the way up to
- 49:09Speaker 4: that point, I expected him to be the nice guy
- 49:12Speaker 4: all the way through and be like, no, no, this
- 49:13Speaker 4: is wrong. We can't do this.
- 49:15Speaker 3: He doesn't.
- 49:16Speaker 4: Within five seconds, he changes and he's... That's a dude.
- 49:18Speaker 3: What do you want?
- 49:19Speaker 4: I guess.
- 49:20Speaker 5: I kind of thought that he'd resist and she'd kill.
- 49:22Speaker 4: Him right then and there yeah I mean that almost
- 49:24Speaker 4: fit that that's the part that's really out of character
- 49:26Speaker 4: for him is that he seems like number one a
- 49:29Speaker 4: good guy that wouldn't screw around on his girlfriend in
- 49:31Speaker 4: the real world general sense and number two he's such
- 49:34Speaker 4: a hardcore science nerd that's messing with your experiment in
- 49:38Speaker 4: ways that I think he would be, you know, not
- 49:40Speaker 4: up for.
- 49:40Speaker 5: And then it's also like your kids.
- 49:42Speaker 4: And it's that level, too. So, I mean, there's so
- 49:45Speaker 4: many levels where this is messed up.
- 49:47Speaker 6: Yes.
- 49:47Speaker 4: That seems out of character for him. Again, you know,
- 49:50Speaker 4: I guess the heat of the moment, he decided to
- 49:52Speaker 4: change his mind, but... What if he realizes.
- 49:55Speaker 3: That this is her only option, that maybe it's part
- 49:57Speaker 3: of her development?
- 49:58Speaker 4: I mean, maybe. I mean, she is going to be
- 50:00Speaker 4: dead soon, according to their calculations, so maybe he's just like,
- 50:03Speaker 4: you know, here's her chance. This is, you know, I
- 50:05Speaker 4: am the only male in her life. This is the
- 50:08Speaker 4: only way for her to get to this point. Again,
- 50:10Speaker 4: that's creepy. I'm sorry.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Yeah. She does have parts of his girlfriend and.
- 50:15Speaker 4: That was the other, I was thinking it was sort
- 50:17Speaker 4: of a weird line there, where it's like he saw
- 50:19Speaker 4: his girlfriend in her earlier in the movie, so it's like,
- 50:23Speaker 4: it is almost still, in some way, like he's, you know,
- 50:27Speaker 4: hooking up with her in a really creepy way.
- 50:30Speaker 5: It's still like hooking up with her kid.
- 50:31Speaker 4: It's still like hooking up with her kid more than anything,
- 50:33Speaker 4: which is really creepy. And it becomes the Woody Allen story. Anyways.
- 50:38Speaker 5: He never knew her.
- 50:39Speaker 4: He did too, she grew up with him.
- 50:41Speaker 5: No, she grew, Mia Farrow and Woody Allen never lived together.
- 50:46Speaker 5: Mia Farrow and all her adopted children lived, like, on
- 50:49Speaker 5: the opposite side of town.
- 50:50Speaker 4: Whatever you say.
- 50:52Speaker 3: You just keep telling me.
- 50:53Speaker 4: He was pretty much her dad. Don't get me wrong,
- 50:55Speaker 4: because I've seen them together, and they actually are a
- 50:58Speaker 4: more well-adjusted couple than I would have ever expected. But
- 51:01Speaker 4: when I think about the story, I still think it's creepy.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Yeah, a little creepy, but I'm just saying, like, they
- 51:08Speaker 5: didn't live in the same house or anything.
- 51:10Speaker 4: I still think he was dead.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 51:12Speaker 1: He had, like, Morgan Freeman and his granddaughter.
- 51:14Speaker 4: Oh, that's fine.
- 51:14Speaker 3: What?
- 51:15Speaker 4: That's totally fine.
- 51:17Speaker 5: Morgan Freeman's with his granddaughter?
- 51:19Speaker 3: Step-granddaughter, but he's known her since she was like, what, seven? Born.
- 51:23Speaker 5: That's gross.
- 51:24Speaker 4: That one's gross. Sure, that one's gross.
- 51:28Speaker 3: How's that one more gross? I don't know.
- 51:30Speaker 4: I don't know. They're all creepy. How about that? I
- 51:32Speaker 4: don't know.
- 51:33Speaker 5: I'm not going to ever date anyone who's in my family,
- 51:36Speaker 5: whether by association or marriage or what.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Ever again. I was like, have.
- 51:44Speaker 5: I ever dated anyone in my family before?
- 51:46Speaker 4: I like that Jen just stopped and think for a second.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Wait a minute.
- 51:48Speaker 5: Because I date so frequently. I just had to stop
- 51:53Speaker 5: and think.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Don't. Don't.
- 52:01Speaker 4: I don't even quite know what happened.
- 52:04Speaker 1: I was barely.
- 52:04Speaker 3: I don't even know who you are anymore. You've become
- 52:07Speaker 3: something sick. Forget about what it means to me. There
- 52:12Speaker 3: are some things you do not do. We changed the rules.
- 52:19Speaker 3: You're not talking your way out of this. We....
- 52:26Speaker 1: Crossed a line. Things got confused.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Confused about what?
- 52:33Speaker 7: Right and wrong.
- 52:34Speaker 4: So, number one, I didn't expect it to cross that
- 52:36Speaker 4: line as a story. Definitely not him as a character.
- 52:39Speaker 4: But then we enter into what... I think it's almost
- 52:42Speaker 4: the most impressive scene in there when he comes back
- 52:45Speaker 4: to talk to her at the apartment and it enters
- 52:48Speaker 4: on it. You hit all of those levels where he
- 52:50Speaker 4: comes in and he starts playing it and he's almost
- 52:53Speaker 4: playing it like this. You just busted me cheating on
- 52:56Speaker 4: you scene. And I'm like, okay, we've seen that in
- 52:58Speaker 4: a lot of movies. So I'm like, he's playing that
- 53:00Speaker 4: really well as that kind of scene. I mean, his
- 53:03Speaker 4: performance as he comes in and not even knowing how
- 53:05Speaker 4: to talk to her and starting to try to make excuses.
- 53:07Speaker 4: And like, that was like, perfect in like any other
- 53:10Speaker 4: normal movie and then all of a sudden it hits
- 53:12Speaker 4: me okay you just fucked a genetic experiment for one
- 53:16Speaker 4: number two it's kind of like your kid there's so
- 53:18Speaker 4: many levels this is messed up how do you address
- 53:20Speaker 4: any of these issues And the more important part, the
- 53:24Speaker 4: more impressive part, is, like, they turn around and they
- 53:27Speaker 4: kind of do. Like, it switches gears midway through, and
- 53:30Speaker 4: it becomes... It turns away from that, I caught you
- 53:33Speaker 4: cheating with our child genetic experiment, and it becomes this
- 53:37Speaker 4: bigger question of this morality thing where, right and wrong,
- 53:41Speaker 4: and what have we done, and what did we even
- 53:43Speaker 4: set out to do, and how bastardized has all of
- 53:46Speaker 4: this become since we started this experiment we weren't even
- 53:49Speaker 4: supposed to be doing to begin with? I.
- 53:51Speaker 5: I gotta stop there. I like his excuse. He's like, oh, oh,
- 53:54Speaker 5: what's right and wrong has been blurred. I just don't
- 53:56Speaker 5: know what's right and wrong anymore. I'm like, well played, Romeo.
- 54:01Speaker 4: At that point, I was hoping, I was hoping he
- 54:03Speaker 4: wasn't talking about the screwing her part anymore. I was
- 54:05Speaker 4: hoping it was like, let's go bigger here. Yeah. There's
- 54:09Speaker 4: a lot more horrible things that have happened since we
- 54:11Speaker 4: started this.
- 54:11Speaker 5: That was a pretty big umbrella that got.
- 54:13Speaker 3: Him off the hook.
- 54:14Speaker 4: Yeah. Again, don't get me wrong, it's still very creepy
- 54:18Speaker 4: and massively wrong, and I She kind of.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Was over it, though.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Yeah, but it was. It's like she really did kind
- 54:24Speaker 4: of latch onto the bigger questions there, and I think
- 54:26Speaker 4: that last half of their conversation is really smart and
- 54:29Speaker 4: really well played and way more calm than I would
- 54:32Speaker 4: give anybody credit for actually having in the real world,
- 54:35Speaker 4: because they actually have a really smart conversation there and
- 54:39Speaker 4: kind of come to terms with a lot of what
- 54:41Speaker 4: has happened and almost what they need to do. It
- 54:43Speaker 4: doesn't pan out like that, but they do sort of
- 54:46Speaker 4: realize how wrong it is and what It needs to
- 54:49Speaker 4: be put to a stop one way or the other.
- 54:51Speaker 4: They need to not continue the way that it's been going. So,
- 54:56Speaker 4: I don't know. I still think that whole scene is
- 54:58Speaker 4: really impressive. Then it enters the third stage of the movie,
- 55:04Speaker 4: if you will, which is a very different movie at
- 55:07Speaker 4: that point.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Well, so they kind of allude to what's going to happen.
- 55:10Speaker 3: You kind of know what's going to happen.
- 55:12Speaker 4: When they talk about the first one.
- 55:13Speaker 3: They talk about, was it Fred and Ginger? Yeah. When
- 55:16Speaker 3: they bring that experiment out and the fun that commences then.
- 55:20Speaker 4: That was a fun scene. We skipped that one. Because
- 55:22Speaker 4: it was so over the top and horrifying that I
- 55:25Speaker 4: almost thought it was like a horrible nightmare sequence. Like
- 55:28Speaker 4: I was waiting. It got so bad there. I was
- 55:31Speaker 4: just like waiting for her to wake up and be like,
- 55:33Speaker 4: oh God, this is what we've done. This is the
- 55:35Speaker 4: road we're heading down with these horrible experiences. No, it
- 55:37Speaker 4: happened in the real world. Content was like bloody and
- 55:40Speaker 4: nasty and like... There should.
- 55:43Speaker 3: Not have been that much blood.
- 55:44Speaker 4: I don't understand where all that blood came from. Again,
- 55:47Speaker 4: that was just sort of playing up the horror angle.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Maybe they were.
- 55:51Speaker 5: I like when the whole audience was, like, spattered in blood.
- 55:54Speaker 4: That was awesome.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Ridiculous.
- 55:56Speaker 4: Oh, so yeah, that was a fun little scene.
- 56:00Speaker 3: A bloodstravaganza.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 56:02Speaker 3: I don't want to refer to that as a bloodstravaganza.
- 56:05Speaker 3: I'm going to copyright that. I'm going to take it.
- 56:08Speaker 5: But.
- 56:09Speaker 4: But I think even just the whole third part of
- 56:12Speaker 4: the movie is like a different tone. Like that middle,
- 56:15Speaker 4: the first part's just sort of, it's a lot more scientific.
- 56:18Speaker 4: And as you brought up, kind of confusing. Because even
- 56:21Speaker 4: I realized at the beginning there where they're working at
- 56:23Speaker 4: the computer and this big montage of.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Like, Yeah, I was like, I have no idea what's
- 56:26Speaker 3: going on.
- 56:27Speaker 4: That's what I was thinking. That first time I watched it,
- 56:28Speaker 4: I was just like, you guys know we don't understand
- 56:31Speaker 4: what you're doing, right? You're doing science nerd stuff, so
- 56:33Speaker 4: you could kind of wrap that up in maybe a
- 56:35Speaker 4: 45-second montage.
- 56:37Speaker 3: Maybe they edited something important out of there, and they
- 56:39Speaker 3: just didn't bother to tell the rest of it.
- 56:41Speaker 4: Well, I was thinking it's almost like the extended montages
- 56:44Speaker 4: in Iron Man when he's building shit. And I'm like...
- 56:46Speaker 4: You know, we don't know what you're doing, crazy science guy.
- 56:50Speaker 4: In the end, you're going to have a cool Iron
- 56:52Speaker 4: Man suit, but these, like, you know, ten minutes of
- 56:54Speaker 4: you welding shit and, like, working at the computer, eh,
- 56:58Speaker 4: you can kind of narrow it down a little. We
- 56:59Speaker 4: don't need that much.
- 57:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it was just confusing. I had no idea what
- 57:03Speaker 3: was going on, and I don't like it when I
- 57:05Speaker 3: don't know what's going on. I thought for a second
- 57:07Speaker 3: maybe I just blocked out and just didn't know what happened.
- 57:10Speaker 4: I mean, you've got to catch that one little line there,
- 57:13Speaker 4: because in the beginning they're working on the Fred and
- 57:15Speaker 4: Ginger story, and they're working on that experiment. And then
- 57:19Speaker 4: once they tell them they can't do that anymore, then
- 57:21Speaker 4: they change gears. But it's just that one comment they
- 57:23Speaker 4: make to each other, like, I'm not doing that anymore.
- 57:25Speaker 4: And if you don't really pay attention to that, it's
- 57:27Speaker 4: like the next ten minutes of montage, you know, working
- 57:30Speaker 4: on stuff doesn't really make you like, what are they
- 57:32Speaker 4: doing now? I have a bad habit.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Of having, like, inner dialogues in my head. I focus
- 57:36Speaker 3: more on those than what's going on outside. I have
- 57:39Speaker 3: no idea what actually happened in the movie. Sometimes I'll just...
- 57:43Speaker 3: Elephants are stealing.
- 57:47Speaker 4: That's true.
- 57:48Speaker 3: I yell at Jay a lot in my head sometimes.
- 57:50Speaker 4: Poor Jay.
- 57:53Speaker 3: We have entire arguments in my head sometimes that he
- 57:55Speaker 3: has no clue about, and then I make him apologize
- 57:57Speaker 3: for them later.
- 58:01Speaker 4: Speaking of social experiments, we have one sitting right here
- 58:05Speaker 4: with us.
- 58:06Speaker 3: And usually he does.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Well, I mean, he knows it's just easier at that point.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Or if I have dreams. Like, I had a dream
- 58:12Speaker 3: that me and him had a fight and he was
- 58:14Speaker 3: going to leave me. So I made him apologize.
- 58:18Speaker 4: That's just a guy who understands relationships. You have to
- 58:21Speaker 4: give Jay credit.
- 58:22Speaker 1: I love my boyfriend.
- 58:23Speaker 4: He's the best boyfriend in the whole world.
- 58:25Speaker 3: He puts up with my crazy shit.
- 58:27Speaker 4: I second that.
- 58:29Speaker 3: You think he's.
- 58:30Speaker 4: The best boyfriend ever? From my standpoint, yeah, he kind
- 58:32Speaker 4: of is. I don't come in contact with many useful relationships,
- 58:36Speaker 4: so you guys are number one in my book.
- 58:39Speaker 3: We are pretty awesome.
- 58:40Speaker 4: The fact that you hold it together is pretty damn awesome.
- 58:44Speaker 3: He's been pitting ahead a lot.
- 58:45Speaker 4: And that's why he's okay with dealing with your craziness.
- 58:49Speaker 3: We both got too much shit to have to move again.
- 58:53Speaker 4: That's true. As we went last week, looking at your
- 58:55Speaker 4: toys and a similage of stuff. Yeah. I don't want
- 59:00Speaker 4: to move if I were you either.
- 59:02Speaker 3: That and my Corey picture is signed to Jay and Misty. Oh, God.
- 59:06Speaker 4: What were you thinking there?
- 59:07Speaker 5: He made me.
- 59:08Speaker 3: Feel bad because when I got to film... poster, I
- 59:10Speaker 3: had it signed to just Misty. He gave me a
- 59:12Speaker 3: bunch of crap about that.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Bill Moseley signed, screw you, Jay, to Misty. Oh, Lord.
- 59:20Speaker 4: So back to the third stage here. So we enter
- 59:24Speaker 4: the third part of the movie where it really takes
- 59:26Speaker 4: a much more sensationalized tone. It is very much a
- 59:30Speaker 4: monster movie at that point. Monster match.
- 59:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 59:35Speaker 3: The dragon pulls a chastity bono.
- 59:41Speaker 4: Yes, yes, she does. She changes her mind. That happens.
- 59:47Speaker 3: But a little bit less bloaty.
- 59:49Speaker 4: Yeah, she's pretty stout. Oh, God.
- 59:55Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 59:56Speaker 4: So, yeah, I... I still like that. Again, I ended
- 59:59Speaker 4: up liking the movie a lot more than... I really
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: went in... Having seen that trailer the first time, expecting
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: to think it was a rip-off and not like the story,
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: and I was probably just going to watch it because
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: I knew Sarah Polly was in it. Having watched it,
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: I was like, I actually like the story. I think
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: it's a lot of fun. Again, you can't take a
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: lot of it too seriously, but if you look at it,
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: you can find serious things going on within it. I
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: think what ends up saving it, and probably for most people, is...
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: the sensationalization of it it it never really goes because
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: you can take something as serious and science-based as what
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: they're doing here and make it like an indie movie
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: and make it super high you know very cerebral and
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: have them sit around and talk about you know the
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: theory of what they're doing all the time and it
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: could get boring and they never cross that line it
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: always reverts back to being a horror movie for a
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: second you know anytime it goes down that road it
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: changes gears and goes back to being a horror movie
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: for a second. And by the end of it, it
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: definitely becomes a horror movie. And I think that's what
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: it is. It leaves the science behind and becomes very
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: Weekly World news. And it becomes, you know, Batboy is
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: attacking people.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: I would have never classified it as a horror movie
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: at any point. I would have left it in the
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: sci-fi category.
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it definitely crosses a lot of lines.
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: To me, it's almost a suspense movie. For a good
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: portion of it.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: I would not call it a horror movie. At least
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: in what my classifications of horror movies are, I would never,
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: It has moments that are. But, I mean, well, you know,
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: sci-fi and horror cross over a lot. I mean, that's
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: a very gray area in the middle there, where a
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: lot of sci-fi has moments of horror, and a lot
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: of horror works in weird stuff that's probably science fiction.
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: I mean, that's what Frankenstein was from the get-go. I mean,
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: it's technically the first science fiction story, even though it's
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: really a horror. I mean, it's... blurring that line from
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: day one. It's like it always was sort of a
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: weird crossover between horror and science fiction. So this is
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: definitely one of those, but it also, I mean, I
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: think it's got a lot of scenes that just play
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: like a creepy suspense movie. And I was noticing how
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: much the music makes that. I think the music is
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: done really well in this, and I think so much
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: of it is because of that. Like, I think if
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: you took out the music track, this would be a
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: very different movie. Like, it would be a very different tone.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: I think everything about it that's creepy and suspenseful, a
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: lot of it is the music. It always kicks in
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: at the right moment. It always is working the right
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: build-up to the scene. It always works in the little
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: cheapy ploys of the jump scare kind of moment, even
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: when it's not totally a jump scare. Just when it
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: knows that you're expecting that, it kind of works in
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: the little sharp movements in the music. I think that
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: is definitely what kind of steps it up a notch
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: as far as being and almost being a horror movie
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: is I think the music really heavily kind of works
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: that angle and makes it more of that type of movie.
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: I like at the end she was basically just a gargoyle.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: Or he. Technically at that point he.
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: He was basically a big stinking gargoyle.
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: I hate gargoyles.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Kind of.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: Why do you hate gargoyles? Well, didn't you see Hunchback?
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: I mean, they're just fun creatures and you can have adventures.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Dren's up there.
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: Probably.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: And it can.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: It's going to impregnate you. No matter which gender you are,
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Dren can take care of you.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: That just seemed, that seemed really disturbing to me.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: Yeah, that was the other thing. I mean, I, I,
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: once again, once, once he came up out of the
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: water and gave her that look, I was like, oh shit,
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: that's your ass. I was like, he's coming after you.
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: And I know what he wants to, once again, it,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: it very kind of realistically plays on that animalistic instinct of, okay,
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: I've hit that point. I'm in heat. I'm going to
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: mate with something. You're here. You know, it's like. A
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: lot of animal sex is like that. None of it
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: is ever really.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: A lot of human sex is like that.
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: What are you talking about? Not well-adjusted human sex. Humans
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: have that level of where they can actually go into
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: it knowingly.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Animals.
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: Most of it, it seems like, is very non-consensual. And
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: that's kind of scary when you think about it. Just
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: a lot about an animal. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: enters into that. So, I mean, I don't know how
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: you could have it any other way. But once again,
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: I assumed he was going to go for that and
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: maybe Adrian would come up and save her. No, it
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: crosses that line. Like, very quickly, I'm like, oh, okay.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: Let's see, what did you refer to it as? Mutant rape?
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: I was like, ah, no, mutant rape. Stop, please.
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: Stop.
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: You're raping me with your mutant tail.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: I don't think he was using the tail. Anyway, he
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: just disrobed her with the tail, which that's kind of handy,
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: I guess.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: I'm like, that's kind of nice of him.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: I don't want to get into the main spoiler. I
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: wonder if she, like, because you know she hesitated for
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: a really long time before she smashed his head in.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: She waited long enough for him to kill Adrian Brody's character.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: I wonder if that's kind of on purpose. I wonder
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: if she was still kind of pissed.
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: I think she was even at that point.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: Yeah, they both had sex with the same creature.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: She wasn't, like, fighting it when he was, like, mutant
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: raping her. She was just like, oh, oh.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: She made weird facial features. She started to look like
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: one of the vampires from Buffy for a while. She
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: looked like Drew's, uh, what was her name?
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: What was Joey Benz's?
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: Darla?
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: She's like Darla a couple times. I saw a girl
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: that actually looks like that on the internet. I saw
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: a picture, I swear, she had the brow going. I
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: was like, oh my god, I think she's a vampire.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: There's this girl at work who has the lip that
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: reminds me of the episode of The Twilight Zone where
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: they're in the eye of the beholder.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: I just saw that one. During the wrestling weekend, I
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: sent my email, by the way. So everybody else join in.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: I don't know. Side note.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: I have a whole area where the girl's face is
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: wrapped up the whole time.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: And everyone's like pigs.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: They're kind of pig looking, yeah.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: But they have these big lips that are kind of
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: like that. Actually, she's more like the character from the
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: masks episode. Her lip is just big.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: I think I know what girl you're... I think I
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: know her.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: You know people with EPS?
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: No, I mean, I think I know what girl you're
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: talking about.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: In real life?
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: In real life.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Don't tell her I said that thing.
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: I won't.
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: If it's who I'm thinking of, she like... Went to
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: school with me and I was just like.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: What is wrong with her? First I thought she just
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: had a bad collagen injection or something, but then it
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: stayed that way for like a year. And it's still
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: that way. I shouldn't say that. I don't know. She
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: could be a nice person. A mean person.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Where were we?
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Let Adrian die on purpose.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: I think. To me, and again, this is all how
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: you read it, there's a lot of ways that you
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: can take a lot of what's going on in this movie.
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: I saw it more as that second of this is
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: my child. I mean, there's still that, this is this
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: thing that I created, and I have to kill it now,
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: and there was that moment of hesitation of, do I.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: She was ready to cut it up earlier, go ahead
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: and cut it up now, smash its head in, it
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: done raped your ass, come on.
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: At that point, you would think she would have a
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: little more, a little more reason to want to take
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: it out, but.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: Unless she liked it.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: She did like it, though, because she was all like,
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: she didn't put up a fight, I'm sorry, she did
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: not put up a fight.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: I'm glad it's you two saying this, because I think
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: it's creepy.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: I'm not condoning it.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: I'm just saying.
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: Bitch didn't put up a fight.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: And I mean, like.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Oh, God. I'm just joking.
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: I'm not advocating rape.
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: Yeah, we here at Movie Meltdown do not go along...
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: Or I personally do not condone any of the thoughts
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: of the other cast members here.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: I had no idea.
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: Just because they didn't say no doesn't mean it's okay.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: God, I'm... You all are going to turn us around.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: I'm going to get paid now.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: Once again, I'm just glad you guys said that.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: It's a pretty red bird. I'm just trying to change
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: the subject. But there really is a pretty red bird outside.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: So, anyway. I don't know.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: I don't want to get hate mail about this. I'm
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: just joking. I know everybody's going to take it serious.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: It's not a serious matter.
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: Rape is not a laughing matter.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: Well, that's why I was creeped out by it. Like,
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: it really is. Like, it's a weird rape scene. And
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: then on top of that, you've got the fact that
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: it's kind of like her kid doing it.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: And it's a mutant.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: And it's sort of her doing it. I mean, what
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: happens when your own DNA mixes with you? I mean,
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: it's like... Are you going to cause the universe to
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: collapse upon itself? Like dividing by zero? I think so.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: I think it makes the E on the calculator. The
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: universe is going to shut down when you have sex
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: with yourself. I'm sorry. I don't know.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: So, yeah.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: I mean, the whole thing is a weird, creepy territory
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: there that enters into a lot of weird questions. If
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: we want to jump to the final scene, you guys
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: both called it. I think I just turned my brain
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: off and tried not to think too far ahead on
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: the plot, so I really didn't see it coming.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: Oh, I totally did.
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: When she backed up from the table, I was like, oh, okay,
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: we've gone to a whole new level of creepy.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: No, not me. As soon as he raped her, I'm like, oh,
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: she's pregnant right now.
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: Before that even happened, I knew she was gonna the
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: movie was gonna end with her being pregnant like like
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: from the very beginning when he was like talking to
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: her about having kids and then they were she and
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: uh her boyfriend were like doing it on the couch
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: and she's like what's the worst thing that.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: Could happen well let me tell you.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: Yeah at first i kind of thought that he was
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: gonna get dren pregnant and she's going to have little
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: alien babies.
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: I thought that too.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: When we were going back into the building looking for
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: her after they talked, I thought, oh, God, it's going
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: to be like a whole little herd of little alien babies.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: I thought when she was sick, when they laid her down,
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: I thought, is she pregnant? And she's about ready to
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: have a litter of some sort. So, yeah, I kind
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: of had that thought at least the first time around. But, yeah,
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: I didn't really think that far ahead once they were–
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: I think I was still in shock over the mutant rape.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: I was just like– it was creeped out by it.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: I didn't think that far ahead.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Rape is never okay, even by mutants.
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: Especially by mutants.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: What makes it better if it's a regular person?
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: I don't think it makes it better at all. I
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: don't think there's any better.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: It's like tails.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: Some do. They have nubs. Some people have tails. I've
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: seen pictures on the internet.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: They do.
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: I know somebody who claims that they had one and
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: had it removed.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: Who?
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: I don't believe it.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: Who?
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: He's a liar, if ever. And I tell him that
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: all the time.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Was it Patrick?
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: No, but he probably would, actually.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Patrick would have kept it.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: He would have kept it. Oh, let's see. So, I
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: don't know. It's a weird wrap-up. It's definitely very... That's
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: what I'm saying. The whole end is like Weekly World News.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: It's just like Batboy attacks family.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: I'm having.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Batboy breaks family. I'm having Batboy's child. I mean, it
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: really is... It becomes very silly and over the top,
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: but at the same time fun. Like, again, I enjoyed it.
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: I know it's ridiculous, but I still enjoyed it.
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: The end where her boss lady puts her arm on
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: her shoulders and it goes dark and they're staring out
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: the window.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: And you hear the.
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: I'm like, I feel like that's supposed to mean something,
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: but it really doesn't. It's just like really.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: I just thought.
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: Like this hard-hitting scene where you're like, oh, damn. But
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: I mean, it's really... It doesn't have any meaning.
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: Well, the boss I thought was just creepy. Well, it
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: just didn't... Again, it didn't fit her character. It's like
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: she'd been cold the entire rest of the movie. She
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: could have cared less about the two of them, period. Yeah.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: So now, just because the money is tied up in
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: her stomach that she's going to become like a mother?
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: Like all of a sudden, she's got this maternal thing
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: and she's standing there like, I'll see you through it, honey,
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: don't worry.
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: You don't have to go through with this.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: Yeah, all of a sudden she seemed like she cared.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: I'm like, when did, like, we've only seen her a
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: few scenes, but she's a horrible person in every one
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: of those. So why all of a sudden? Most people
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: in this movie are horrible people. Kind of, yeah. I mean,
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: even his brother sells him out. Like, I mean, we
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: don't really have anybody that's like, you know, Dren's the
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: only good character we have, and even she becomes pretty evil.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: Because they made her that way. Because, yeah, she's the
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: only one you kind of like as it goes on, so.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: And even then she becomes a horrible mutant rapist. So
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: you can't like anybody in this movie. But somehow I
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: still ended up liking the whole experience. Does that make you.
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: A horrible person?
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Probably.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: Because almost everyone died.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I realized I was a horrible person
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: a long time ago. Was there going to be a sequel?
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: I was thinking that when you guys were like, now what,
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: she's going to have the baby bust out of her stomach.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: I was like, that's in the sequel. Once it's... fights
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: its way out of it and they probably they don't
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: have to worry about being able to afford to get
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: sara polly to come back to the straight to dvd
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: sequel because they can just have her die in childbirth
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: as it busts out of her and then the whole
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: rest of it can be a bad straight to dvd sequel.
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: I mean how much would you have to pay sara
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: polly anyway i don't.
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: Know if i can raise it i'll have her come
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: over and like hang out in the kitchen no.
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: I'm just saying i mean it's not like She's an
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: A-list or anything.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: But this is still theatrical. I mean, how often are
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: they able to get back the same full cast? Granted,
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: they killed off most of them in this one, but
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: usually you get a bad straight-to-DVD replacement.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Rose McGowan?
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: Ah, slam. Take that, Rose McGowan. I don't even know
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: why I said Rose McGowan.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: I was thinking Devil in the Flesh, but she was
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: in the original Devil in the Flesh. Who was in
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: the second one?
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: I don't know. I was trying to think what the
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: straight-to-DVD casting would be on the sequel. I'm like, so
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: the sequel would be Jenny Garth. That's who they could
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: get to. That's like the next step down in the
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: straight-to-DVD casting on your price point. She's recognizable. She's got
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: a name. We can slap it on the box.
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: No, that wouldn't work.
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: I don't want to see the sequel. That's all I
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: have to say. And again, not if they don't get
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: the same director back, because I do want to give
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: him credit. He is Vincenzo Natalia, and he's actually the
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: guy who did Cube. That's his most well-regarded. Everybody kind
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: of liked that. That was another really smart way to
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: make an independent film and make good use of the
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: fact that you don't have a whole lot of money.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: So he's kind of smart in the way that he directs,
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: and I think... Here, I think he does a really
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: good job. I think everything visually, again, almost in the
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: first half, it's almost more creative. It's like he does
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: a lot of really cool shots, like a lot of
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: the stark white hallways in the science center there. It's
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: like that stuff's all pretty cool and has a really
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: good visual look to it. He does that weird sweeping,
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: like almost 360 shot of her around the tank at
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: the beginning. That's really cool. I really like that one.
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: So There's the weird POV shot of the creature from
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: the very beginning, the little mutant thing coming out. That's
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: all done kind of cool. So I think he's very
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: creative in the way he shoots stuff. So I definitely
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: want to see where he ends up going after this.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: He's made a lot of stuff, a lot of which
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: hasn't made it over here. He's actually born in Detroit,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: but everybody assumes that he's Canadian. He still works a
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: lot out of Canada. So I think a lot of
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: stuff he's made hasn't even made it to the United States.
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: So I kind of want to see If he gets
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: picked up and where he ends up going once he
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: gets bigger projects. Any thoughts on direction?
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: Nope.
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: No.
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: Nice.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: Performances? I thought they both did a really good job.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: No.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: They were alright. I just had a problem with her face.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: Well, again, that's not acting. That's genetics.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: I don't know. She just... I don't know. They just
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: didn't seem believable as a couple to me as far
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: as their interactions.
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: Yeah, they didn't have any... chemistry as far as, like,
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: a couple goes.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: They were also both dorks, so... Yeah, but.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: They are dorks, but we, you know.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: We're a different level of dorks.
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: I mean, like, until, like, she was sitting on his lap,
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: I was like, oh, so I guess.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: They're a couple?
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: Yeah, they didn't... That's another thing in the beginning they
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: didn't really make use of. They didn't insert enough in there, because, yeah,
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: up until that point, once they've already, like, gone through...
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: I mean, the first 15 minutes or so, I was like,
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: so did they just work.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Together, and Have a brother and sister.
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: Yeah, they really, well, it's the same thing with the brother.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: I didn't realize he was the brother until he was
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: already in there. He goes, oh, I gotta go talk
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: to my brother. I was like, oh, that's, I think
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: at one point he calls him like bro or something,
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: but I was just like, that's not enough, really. You're
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: gonna have to, you know, some of these things.
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: They had similar stupid haircuts.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: Yeah, almost too similar. Like, who wants to look that
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: much like their sibling? Nobody does, so it's, yeah, it
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: was just a weird, there's a few things that just
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: in the writing, I think they could have made a
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: little more clear, or maybe editing, but There's a few
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: things in the beginning that should have been tightened up
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: a little, probably. But, I don't know. In the end,
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: I still thought it was pretty fun.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: And she was a scientist. Why couldn't she have had
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: a better car?
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm like.
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: Was that a Gremlin? What was that?
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: Yeah, they worked in some fucking shanky.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: A Pinto?
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: It looked kind of like the Mirth Moby.
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: I mean, they worked in some janky fucking science lab.
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: I mean, it had the most high-tech equipment, but they
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: lived in a fucking studio apartment and drove a shitty car.
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: They clearly were not working for the right company.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: Maybe they were just trying to be cool. It was
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: their whole, like, you know, trendy attitude.
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: You can still be trendy and have a lot of money.
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: Well, they were looking, I mean, that apartment they were
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: looking at looked super high-end, so.
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: What apartment they were looking at?
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: Well, she was showing them on the website or something.
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: Oh, I don't even remember that scene at all.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: That's because you weren't paying attention.
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: I guess.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: Or you have an inner dialogue, too.
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: Were you working with somebody? But that one looked like,
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: I mean, that one looked like a really high-end place.
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: I assumed that they were just, like, I don't know, lazy?
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: I mean, like they said, they'd been there for seven years,
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: and he didn't want to move, so I don't know,
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: maybe they were just stockpiling cash. I don't know why
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: they wouldn't have bought a better.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: Car, though. She wouldn't have spent it on makeup, I'll
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: tell you that right now. Or clothes.
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: No, they were all spending it on those super fancy, like,
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: $ 20 a pop t-shirts. That's what they were buying. They
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: all had, like, trendy t-shirts. Every time you saw, especially Adrian,
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: every time you saw him, he had some crazy, trendy, cool,
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: bought-it-at-the-mall t-shirts. So it was funny how much they tried
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: to make them, like, trendy like you didn't want them
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: to be these guys are let's.
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: See how did they report you they're not your average
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: scientist they're rebellious scientists.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: Yeah so i think that was kind of funny like
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: very orchestrated everything about them was very you know look
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: they've got all these super high-end japanese toys in their
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: apartment they're cool so i mean one of those toys
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: they had you did you're one of those cool trendy
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: people look at you I.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: Guess he just did not pay that much attention to
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: this movie.
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: I think even the cool artwork, you know, which was cool,
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: I'll give them, but everything about it was like, these
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: aren't your typical scientists. You know, they were trying very
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: hard to make them cool, and, you know.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: It's hard to make.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: Adrian Murray and Sarah Pauly cool.
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: Neither of them have ever been, like, the cool kids.
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: They've always been sort of on the outside. They were
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: always the dorks in the class, so. I guess this
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: is their chance to be like, no, now we're scientists
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: and we're cool, which she isn't really. Even they were nerds, though.
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: It said so right on the building. All right, so
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: to wrap up, do you think there's any sort of message?
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: Don't have sex with creeps. Don't genetically engineer children.
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: In a lab for yourself.
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: I mean, was it trying to... Because there's very... That's
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: what leads to this situation. If they just would have
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: let them do these science experiments, they wouldn't be under wraps.
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: They wouldn't have been screwing things up. So there definitely
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: is a very political agenda to DNA testing. Is this
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: movie trying to say anything along those lines?
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: If you go around trying to play God, you're going
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: to end up getting screwed.
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: I think that's... I mean, it really ties more... My
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: take on it is no. I think it really is
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: just playing... It's sort of playing that. It's using that
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: situation in society to play it so that they can
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: turn it into a cheesy horror movie.
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: If this movie wanted to have a conservative message in
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: the end.
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: They probably would have left out the mutant rape part.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: Just saying.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: But she didn't abort the baby, so, you know, you
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: never know. They're working both sides on every one of these. So,
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: I don't know. I think it's, I don't think it does.
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: I mean, there's definitely people who could try to pretend
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: like it does. But to me, it always plays the
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: sensation card every time. It definitely vamps up the cheesiness.
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: plays the horror angle when it needs to, plays the
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: sci-fi when it needs to. So I think it's really
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: just using that as a way to make a big, dumb,
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: fun movie. And I think in the end, that's more
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: of what I got out of it, was just the big, crazy,
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: over-the-top science nerd movie. So if there is anything to
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: take from it, I think it does play back. And
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: this is all the way back to the Frankenstein theme.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: It is the playing God. It's like if you're messing
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: with science, you're messing with the rules of nature... It's
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: going to come back and bite you in the ass.
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: Damn nature, you scary.
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: It's going to come back and kill you. It's going
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: to come back and mutant rape you. It's going to
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: come back and have sex with you or mutant rape
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: your girlfriend or kill you or impregnate you. There's many
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: horrible things that come from plain God. Stop it, science nerds.
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: All right. I guess that wraps up Splice.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm wrapping it all up.
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: Okay, we'll take a break here, and when we come back,
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: we will have Jay do his rant for the week.
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: What's the worst that could happen?
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: Listen.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Do you hear it?
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: It's getting closer.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Much closer. Don't be afraid. Be very, very afraid. I've got.
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: A message for you.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: Pray for death.
- 1:22:39Speaker 9: I'm Gray. Take a journey with me through the dark
- 1:22:43Speaker 9: side of cinema in the Dark Hours Horror Podcast. Find
- 1:22:50Speaker 9: it at thedarkhours.net. The Dark Hours.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: Terror has no shape.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: It's far beyond anything your mind could ever conceive. It's
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: part of your problem, you know.
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: And now, on with the show.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: I like you. You're so special.
- 1:23:35Speaker 8: Just close your eyes, let me hypnotize you I can
- 1:23:44Speaker 8: make your storm feel sky blue Girl, when you're lost,
- 1:23:49Speaker 8: you know I'll find you If I'm not beside you, I'm.
- 1:23:55Speaker 9: Behind you Imagine you're on the beach.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: And you're lost.
- 1:24:01Speaker 8: Alright, we are back and Jay has joined us.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: He didn't get to do his, we'll.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Call it a.
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: Officially geek activities, but really I'm pretty sure it's going
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: to be a rant, so go ahead.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: We'll start off with a not-so-much rant. We watched Mega Piranha,
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: and I wanted Jay to be here with me because
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: he was so very disappointed when I got Piranha in
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: the mail.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: I didn't want to see Piranha. I wanted to see
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Mega Piranha.
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: So we looked on Netflix, and it was available to
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: watch it now. I'm not sure why he wanted to
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: watch Mega Piranha instead of Piranha, which don't get me wrong.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: It said Tiffany in it.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: You don't even like Tiffany.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: No, but I still wanted.
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: To see her. why?
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: Because it looks from the if she gets eaten I'd
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: want to see that from the trailers that.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: I saw on YouTube it looked so awesomely horribly bad
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: I wanted to see it I wanted to see that
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: whatever that name of that one guy is the Z
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: list actor kick the shit.
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: Out of he's like bicycle kicking piranhas yeah he.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: Did the Liu Kang kick on these little piranhas you
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: know they weren't really little they were I don't.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: Know they were giant mutant piranhas they.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Looked like they were cut out of paper you know
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: It was sci-fi, I mean. It was sci-fi. It was
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: the cheapest sci-fi graphics you could possibly even think of.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: No, the fish were better than the helicopters.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, the helicopters were pretty bad. The helicopters did
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: look like they were on sticks, and somebody just, somebody
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: had the film, and somebody just had, like, helicopters on sticks,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: and then, and then flew them in there, and, yeah,
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: it looked awful.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: Nice. There was quite a bit of, there was some blood, though,
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: that was pretty exciting. There was some, some deaths, and
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: some gruesomes, and.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Yeah. A couple heads get chewed off, and. aside from
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: the suicide fish that somehow launched themselves out of the
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: water into the side of buildings for no apparent reason.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: That's a great plan they got there.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll just, you know, they were. They kamikazed these
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: houses and stuff. I don't know why, they just do. Apparently,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Piranha can now take down entire battleships.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: They can eat battleships.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: They can eat through metal.
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: Metal, you know, whatever. Wood, metal, people, who cares?
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that was unbelievable.
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: It had the worst acting I've ever seen in a movie.
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: Oh that acting is great sci-fi that's really all you
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: have to say I kept waiting for him to slap
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: the shit out of Tiffany when she starts going nuts
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: she goes ballistic I wish somebody would yeah but.
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: It also had it had I can't think of his
- 1:26:27Speaker 6: name right Brady he had Greg Brady whichever oh god
- 1:26:30Speaker 6: but his character in Mega Piranha his name was Bob
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: Grady Bob.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: Grady yeah they're so clever on that sci-fi channel yeah.
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: And that was horrible It was, this whole movie was
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: just horrible.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Uh, what was, uh, the, the Nerf guns.
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: At the end of the movie when they're, they have
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: all these big, they're big weapons, they're black guns that
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: they're going to use to take down all these things.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a 20 millimeter, come on, really, really 20 millimeter?
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: You know how big 20 millimeters is? It's bigger than
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: that damn gun, I'll tell you that. Nerf guns, spray painted, black.
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: They couldn't even like take Nerf off of there.
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: You can still see where it said Nerf on there.
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: Was it firing darts at some point?
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: No, but they were trying to make, they were trying
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: to convince you that this was some kind of super,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: what did they say? that each gun could give the
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: guy a capability of taking down a nuclear submarine.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure no gun's going to do that.
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: Yeah, really.
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: Well, it was underwater.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: Piranhas that can survive a nuclear blast.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: Yeah, well, none of these guys look like Navy SEALs.
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: No, they never do.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: I think there were guys that looked more qualified to
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: be in Navy SEALs on my swim team at school,
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: and I wasn't even on the swim team. But, I mean,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: those kids look more qualified to be SEALs. These guys
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: just look like... people they grabbed out of the coffee
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: house and said, here, put this black suit on, pretend
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: you're a Navy SEAL.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: How about the car chase? That was your favorite part.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: The car chase where they change cars?
- 1:27:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: You know, he's driving and he's trying to get away.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: He's in a Toyota Camry and then it turns into
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: a Hyundai and then it turns into, I.
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: Think, a Kia. Like he doesn't get out at any point.
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: It just magically transforms.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: They use different cars for different shots.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: At least his car was the same color.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: It was the same color.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: The one chasing him changed color and vehicle type.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it changed color and vehicle type. So it went
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: from like a Ford Explorer to like, I don't know
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: if it was a Nissan or... A green.
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: Green.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like, I kind of got confused for a second.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: I was like, is it the same guy chasing him?
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: It's a truck, but I don't know if it's the
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: same guy. But apparently it was. It was the same guy.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: But yeah, they, I don't know why they had to
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: change vehicles for chase scenes. Why they didn't use the
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: same kind of vehicle for it. chase scenes i think
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: it was probably people that worked on the set they
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: were like hey uh okay who's got a gray car
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: we need three gray cars all right yeah okay who's
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: got a truck and that's pretty much what they did
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: I don't think they had hardly any budget for this
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: film at all, judging from special effects.
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: I like how towards the end, when they're underwater, when
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: they have their mouthpieces in, yet they're having clear conversations.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Well, yeah, they got communicators in their mouthpieces. You didn't
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: know that?
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: But if you're not going to be able to have
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: a clear conversation.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Yeah, they were having pretty damn clear conversations.
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: Was it also using telepathy, maybe?
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: I'm still trying to figure out how this guy flies
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: from Venezuela all the way up to the Florida Keys
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: in a damn helicopter and never has to refuel. He
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: just happens to know where they are.
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: Or how you can fly a helicopter with oxygen.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: Oh, my God. What the fuck? They're running out of gas. So, magically, Tiffany,
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: being the.
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: Science genius?
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Being the microbiologist that she is, or whatever she is,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: a marine biologist somehow knows how to power a helicopter
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: with a CO2 cartridge or something. Oxygen tank. Little oxygen
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: tank like this. He's like, we're running out of fuel.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: They hit our fuel line. She's like, uh... I'll find
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: something that we can use for fuel. So, yeah, she
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: finds this little oxygen tank. And, of course, Tiffany, because
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: she's the mega scientist, just happens to know where the
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: fuel line is on a fucking Black Hawk helicopter. Pulls
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: the panel away and somehow magically attaches the bottle to
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: it and gives it, like, turbo boost.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: Makes it go faster.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: Makes it go faster. And he can fly the helicopter
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: for a couple extra miles while he's running out of.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: Gas, you know.
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: Well, I think all marine biologists are trained in helicopter
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: mechanics and fuel lines. And, yeah, I think that's one
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: of the main things they focus on in marine biology. Yeah, really.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: You know, no other scientists figure this out. She just
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: happened to know how to do it.
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: Well, she's Tiffany.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: Yeah, she's Tiffany. And then what is that, the tracking
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: device that they've got is actually a CO2 cartridge. It
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: looks like the little CO2 cartridges that you put in
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: little BB pistons.
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: Your BB gun.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's supposed to be a special I'm food attracting thing.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: And I actually read a thing on Netflix, the reviews,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: because I like going back if I see a horrible
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: movie and reading the reviews on it because I like
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: the things that crack me up reading other people's opinions
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: on it. But somebody else actually came up with a
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: better ending for the movie.
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: Because the one that had sucked. It made it. It
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: was beyond retarded.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Absolutely no sense.
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: Spoiler alert.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: Spoiler alert.
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: For a horrible ending?
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: For a horrible ending, yeah.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: Should we tell them how the movie ends first?
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead and tell them how it ends.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: Alright, their big plan is that they want to make
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: one of the fish bleed, thus causing a feeding frenzy
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: where they will all then in turn eat each other.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: Sure, good idea.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: And that's the girl solves everything. I'm like, in my head,
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: wouldn't there be at least one left? And according to
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: the movie, they can reproduce on their own without.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: Yeah, they're asexual.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: They're asexual, they can reproduce on their own, so if
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: that's your plan, wouldn't there be at least one fish
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: left who can then.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Well, even at the end of the movie, they show
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: all the fish, but they're only eating one fish. They
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: don't eat each other, because.
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: The others aren't bleeding. Yeah, the others aren't bleeding.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: They're only eating one fish. And they're like, oh, we
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: solved the problem.
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: Yay!
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: And I'm like, how did you solve the problem? There's
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: still like 20 fish down there. But it's okay.
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: We took out one. Yay!
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: But then somebody suggested on Netflix, which would have been
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: a better ending, they were like, what I thought he
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: was going to do was I thought he was going
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: to take the food transmitter thing and shoot it into
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: the fish's mouth. They would eat that fish, and then
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: in turn that would be inside of another fish, and
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: that fish would get eaten, and then so on and
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: so forth.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: But still there'd be one fish left.
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: Still. And then you just have to kill that fish?
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: Then they catch it, and they save that for the sequel.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: They put it in Christopher Lloyd's fish tank.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: It ended with Macho Man kissing Tiffany on the mouth.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: Which is the most unbelievable part of this entire story. Really? Like, dude,
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: there's no way Porkin's right there is going to be
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: getting kissed by some almost hot Navy guy. It's not
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: going to happen.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: The only thing that I guess saved the Navy guy
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: was his abs. Is that.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: What you're saying? I've been thinking, picturing the Playboy she
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: did like 10 years ago.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: That's what I was joking with her. She's like, how
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: could he kiss her? I was like, he's got the
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: Playboy from her, that Playboy spread in his trailer, and
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: he's working up to it every day. He's like, this
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: is what she used to look like. Just picture this.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: So when he goes to kiss her, he closes his eyes,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: and he's thinking of Playboy magazine, centerfold, centerfold, centerfold.
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: She has not aged well.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: She used to be hot. She used to be hot.
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: That wasn't even that long ago, though. What happened?
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: Twinkies. I guess. A lot of twinkies. I mean, it's
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: not like she did the Playboy when she was Tiffany.
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: I mean, it was 10, 12 years later when she
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: was on Hard Times. It was like, all right, how much? Yeah,
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: it was like, what, 2001 she did it? Yeah, it
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: was way after she.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: Yeah, it was still 10 years ago.
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: I gotta say, Debbie Gibson's was way better.
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: Well, because Debbie Gibson was always cute. Tiffany wasn't, and
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Debbie Gibson actually aged well, where Tiffany didn't, so... I'm
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: ready for a.
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: What's the one they're going to put out? Gatoroid versus.
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: Something or other.
- 1:33:48Speaker 6: Super Snake.
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. Some other giant creature.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: I don't remember what the other one is. It's going
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: to be awesome.
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: That's the one with both of them?
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh, my God. They're fighting and wrestling about.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: It looks equally as bad. And I'll see it just
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: because I love crappy movies. I mean, you see some
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: people's reviews on this movie.
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: And they'll be all upset.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: They take it way too serious.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't take this movie serious.
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: No.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: Cannot whatsoever. It's a stupid movie. It's got an X-level cast.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: I wouldn't even say B.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: Z-level? Z.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Yeah, the Z-level cast. The acting's horrible. The dialogue's cheesy.
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: It's a sci-fi movie.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: Suck ass. Like I said, most of the things look
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: like they're on strings or sticks.
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: But it's fun if you let yourself enjoy it.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, we enjoyed it. You enjoyed it, didn't you?
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a fucking riot.
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: See, if you had fun with that, I think you
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: will actually like Piranha. I was impressed, because I think
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: Piranha is actually like... it comes off like a dumb movie,
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: but really, it's a little better than that. Like, he knows,
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: and he's kind of making fun of those dumb movies,
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: so I think his is actually a little better put together,
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: but yet it still works on that level. You still
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: can turn your brain off and just watch the bloodbath,
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: and it's pretty awesome.
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: Oh, there's some really bad TGI blood in this one.
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. His was a lot of practical effects in
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: the new Piranha.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: This was horrible.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: This was, like, no practical effects. There was fish the
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: size of, like, Well, you.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: Never could tell what size they were, because at one
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: point they're the size of fucking tractor trailers, and then
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: the next scene they're like the size of people, you know? Like,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: they show them launching themselves into these buildings. They look
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: like they're the size of missiles, you know? They're launching
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: out of the water, and then he's doing the Liu
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: Kang kick on them, and they're only like, you know,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: they're the size of a seat cushion. You never can tell.
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: No, I do need to watch it.
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: They change size for what their needs are at that moment.
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: Doesn't that happen in every sci-fi movie? Haven't we called
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: them out for that on Just About?
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: There's more blatant about it, though.
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: Because Sharktopus did that, too. He was like, how big
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: is he? He's like a regular-sized shark. He's like the
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: size of a Buick. I mean, it's like.
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it just kind of depends.
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: He grows.
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: He shrinks.
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: He's like one of those little he's like one of
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: those little foam things that you put in water.
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: He starts as a capsule he's a magic.
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: Girl creature no no not the capsules the ones that
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: are already the shape i like that they fill out rubbery.
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: And weird i was talking about but yeah it was
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: a certain kind of special it was enjoyable as long
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: as you don't expect too much from.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: It yeah go in expecting to see a bad movie
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: and you'll be pleased.
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: The more people you watch it with, the more fun
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: it will probably be.
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: It turned into a drinking game. Every time somebody says Vamonos,
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: because they say Vamonos a lot.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: That was another problem you had with it. The main guy,
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: what was he? He couldn't speak Spanish. Yeah.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: Dude, Special Forces. How is he a SEAL? Well, he's
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: Special Forces. How are you Special Forces and you can't
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: fucking speak Spanish? All right?
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: He spoke French.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: He spoke French. Yeah, bullshit. I tried to go out
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: for that shit. I tried to go out for Rangers,
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: what I wanted to do. You've got to know how
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: to fucking speak a bunch of different languages. They're proficient
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: in that shit. You don't just speak, oh, I speak English.
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: I can't speak Spanish. They speak American. Why the hell
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: do they specifically choose this guy out of everybody for
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: a job in South America? And you're going to send
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: the guy that can't speak Spanish? Are you kidding me?
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I speak French. They don't speak French. They
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: speak Spanish. We send this guy down there, and he
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: doesn't know what's going on. Half the time, there's subtitles
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: running through the bottom of the screen. They fucking introduced
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: everybody with that. Remember at the beginning of the movie? Oh,
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: my God, at the beginning of the movie, everybody that
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: walks on scene, they do that quick black and white
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: freeze frame. You know, and it says their name.
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: Like fucking Law and Order?
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: For everybody. Thank God.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: Make that fake typewriter noise. You know. For everybody.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: Everybody. Yeah. That's going to get all of them.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it does, because it's every five seconds somebody pops
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: on screen, and it's like, da-da-da, da-da-da.
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: And then they show you the same places a couple times,
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: and they tell you it's new every time.
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: We've already been there, Joe. Yeah, we were just here.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: We haven't left.
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: Yeah, what?
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: They show the river, and they show a scene in
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: the river, and it's like, you already told us it's
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: a river. It's the same damn river. It's the same
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: shot you showed us earlier. It's the same damn river.
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: And they kept showing the same exact loops of film
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: over and over again. I think that's how I'm wrong
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: with the lupus. Am I the... Night of the Bunnies.
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: Night of the Lepus.
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Lepus.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: Night of the Lepus.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: Well, yeah, they would use stock photography, or they would
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: use footage of them bombing the river in a different
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: scene further out in the movie of the exact same scene.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: And you were like, dude, I just saw that scene
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: at the beginning of the movie.
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: And it was night when you showed it in the light,
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: In the daytime.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: Well, no, they did the old thing where they shot
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: it during the daytime and then they put a filter
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: in front of it to make it look like it
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: was nighttime.
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: It's on my channel. It's on my channel. Four dollars
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: to spend on a movie.
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: Generous.
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: Should we move on to your.
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: Probably.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: I guess I'm worked up enough.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: Are you ready?
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Are you sure you're ready?
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: I guess.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't think you're going to have
- 1:38:52Speaker 4: a lot of arguments on this one, because I haven't
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: heard anybody. I like it probably more than just about anybody,
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: and I still think it's a terrible movie, but go ahead.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: Well, we talked about it, and I just brought it
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: up shortly at our meeting, and Johnny had said something
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: about he thought it was an enjoyable movie, and I
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: almost picked up a fork and stabbed him in the eye,
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: because I told him it was the worst fucking movie
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: I've ever seen.
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: All right, let's name it.
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Shit.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Because that's what it is.
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: Shit.
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: What was your favorite part?
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: My favorite part?
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: The monkeys?
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: The monkeys, yeah. Yeah, we called out every single thing
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: that happened in this damn movie. But, oh gosh, maybe
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: we should just start at the beginning. I think about
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: two minutes into the film I was already bored. You know,
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: I mean, it was kind of cool starting out.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: No, it wasn't.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: No, yeah, you're right, it wasn't. I was like you
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: know as soon as it started I was like oh
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: god this is gonna suck I didn't really want to
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: see it but I did because everybody else said it
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: was horrible and I didn't want to I didn't want
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: to ruin the idea that I had of Indiana Jones
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: I mean I loved Indiana Jones as a kid me
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: too it was one of the greatest series of movies
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: I think that has ever come out and it got
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: into shit that I liked you know I knew not
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: every archaeologist was a bullwhip carrying pistol slinging Nazi fighter
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: yeah But I liked archaeology as a kid. I mean,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: a lot of kids, I'm sure, liked it. But this
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: just sucked. I was like, what the fuck? I knew
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: it was going to suck.
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: I knew.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: And a lot of people told me to stay away
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: from it, Randy. But I didn't listen. I had to
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: see it for myself because I'm a glutton for punishment.
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: I need something to bitch about.
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: That's usually how I am. I have to witness how
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: bad they are sometimes. Oh, yeah.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: It was bad.
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: It was bad.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: First of all, Harrison Ford, old as fuck. Oh, my God.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: I felt so bad seeing it.
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: It's like.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: Well, I never wanted to see it. It's like your
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: childhood hero, and you see him, and he's just broken
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: down and decrepit and got spiderwebs coming out of his ears,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: and you're just like, fuck, man, this guy's old. What
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: happened to him? You have this image.
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: He married Calista Flopper.
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what happened to him. Sucked the life out
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: of him.
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: But... She's a sucky boss.
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: You.
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: You had that image of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones,
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: and that's the image that's always stayed in your head.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: It's still the image that's in my head. I was like,
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: I'm going to watch this movie, and I'm going to
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: pretend like it doesn't exist because I know it's going
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: to suck. I'm not going to let this alter my
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: image of this character. So, yeah, starting off. Oh, wow,
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: they're fighting the Russians now. Russians, not as interesting as Nazis,
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: not as evil. Nazis seem a little bit more evil
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: than Russians. Yeah, I guess the Russians have done some
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: pretty horrible things. You know, who hasn't?
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: But that's... They got demonized almost as much by the
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: time you hit the 80s. We built them up almost
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: as much, but really, yeah, I mean, there's a lot
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: more creepy, weird backstory to the Nazis that Russians are
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: just Russians.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: Yeah, the Russians are just Russians. The Russians weren't doing...
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: I mean, they probably were at some point, but.
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: They weren't making crazy occult experiments, and they weren't taking
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: people's brains out and trying to turn them into super
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: beings and weird shit like that.
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: They were just communists, and that's why we hated them.
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: That was our only reason.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: Who's a communist? So, I mean, it digs into that
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: whole kind of McCarthyism type thing. Who's a communist? We
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: can't trust this guy. We can't trust that guy.
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: But, you know....
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: I mean, in a way, that was kind of interesting,
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: but in a way, it wasn't. I just didn't care.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: I didn't care that Indy was now in... When was
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: this movie based? In 1960?
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: Like early 60s? Late 50s. Late 50s, early 60s.
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: He was by Shia LaBeouf in his damn fucking hat.
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's true.
- 1:42:38Speaker 6: You know what?
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: The wild one, yeah.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: You're no fucking Marlon Brando.
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: He thinks he is.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what? Greasers don't comb their hair every
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: five minutes, all right? Then don't worry about that. I
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: don't comb my hair every five minutes, all right? You know,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: I got a lot of shit in my hair most
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: of the time. But, yeah, it seemed like it was
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: just an excuse. I think somebody told him during that movie, look, okay,
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: here's what you got to do. You got to comb
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: your hair. Every scene you get, comb your hair, comb
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: your hair. You know, it gets a little redundant. But, yeah,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: you know, ah.
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: The point of no return for me was the refrigerator.
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: The refrigerator?
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: That's right off the bat.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: Can you hide in a refrigerator and survive a nuclear attack?
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: I don't know. Yes, you can.
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: People, old man, you know it's going to be fucking
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: breaking every bone in the.
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: Old man's people of the body. I still think that
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: seems funny. I'm sorry. I was like, yes, the refrigerator.
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: He tumbles about and gets out and he's just fine. No,
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: old geezer's going to break a hip.
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: Because he's indie.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: He's standing there and of course he's gonna get misty's
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: like he's gonna die from the fallout what the hell
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: you know nope they take care of that next scene
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: they're scrubbing old naked.
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: He's shirtless oh my god.
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: He's not only shirtless he's pantless too he was naked
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: i blocked that out you blocked it out they're scrubbing.
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: Him down like hot old indiana jones yeah.
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: I think i don't want to tell me that like
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: 30 years ago maybe i don't want to see that shit.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: Now but apparently he was a Indiana Jones was a
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: secret agent at one point. I'm like, you know what?
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: Save the secret agent shit for James Bond. I want
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Indiana Jones archaeologist. I want him swinging from fucking vines.
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: No, we get that, but it's not from him.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: Yeah, really.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: Well, I kind of like that angle, but it's like,
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: we already saw it. That's what was kind of cool
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: with the TV series that they did, is he had
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: all these other points in his life, and he did
- 1:44:23Speaker 4: all these other things, so I almost wouldn't mind that
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: there was this stint where he worked for the government
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: and this other chapter, but I don't know, they just
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: don't do anything with it in this way. Yeah.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: I just, I don't know.
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: I didn't care.
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: You know, I wanted to, if you're going to do that,
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: then just do a movie based on Indiana Jones, you know,
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: hooking up and working with the OSS or something like that,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: you know, something cool, working with the British Secret Service
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: during World War II, you know, that would be cool,
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: but just hinting to it and then not really getting
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: into it, you know, fuck, why even bring it up?
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: Jeez.
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: Very nice.
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: What?
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: Prairie dogs? Yeah, really. Prairie dogs in this movie. Constantly.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: In the beginning of the film. Like it's some kind
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: of campy goofiness. Like, ha ha, there's a prairie dog.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: It pops up.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: It's gone.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: I was like, what is this? Caddyshack?
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: You know? What the fuck? Yes. Why didn't they work the... Yeah,
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: I mean... That would be awesome. The little pupples started dancing. Jeez.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: There were so many things in this movie that were
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: happening that were just like.
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: It was like, let's take Indiana Jones and make it
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: fun for the family. you know there are no monkey
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: brains there are no people getting their faces melted off
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: uh it's very family friendly yeah it's too.
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: Family friendly it's it's a lot more watered down than
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: it used to be.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: It is my kid was like i like that movie
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: and then we saw like we saw uh temple of
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: doom i was like which do you like better you
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: like temple of doom i like temple of doom better
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: yeah you should because we all do it's fucking awesome
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: yeah But, uh, I don't know. We haven't sat down
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: and watched Raiders of the Lost Ark, so I don't
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: think she's seen that one yet.
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: But, uh....
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's... Could it be Armitardin? You know, I like
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: the whole South American angle on it, and yeah, you
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: could have gone into it a little bit better.
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: Um.
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: And not had aliens.
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: And not had aliens?
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the point. I just don't understand. I'm like,
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: of all the cool ideas you could have, all the
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: things within this world you could have made it about.
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: I understand what Johnny was telling me. He was like, hey, well,
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: they're trying to work in the hole in the late
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: 50s and 60s, all the UFO craze and stuff like that.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: They were trying to work that in. That's fine. Leave
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: it to the scientists. Don't pull Indiana Jones into it.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Just let Indy go off and, you know, there are
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: other things that he can explore and find. The retirement allowance? Yeah.
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: What I thought would have been cool, and I still think,
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: and this is part of why I think you can
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: see the difference in Spielberg over the years. It's like,
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: this is the first movie, he's only done four, but
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: every other one, the little adventure before the titles was
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: its own thing. Yes. I mean, in the third one,
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: at least it came around and tied back into it,
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: but still, it was set years beforehand, so it was
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: its own little adventure. This one, it just continued on.
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: And I'm like, you know, if they would have made that,
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: the opening scene, and.
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: If they would have been like, she was trying to
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: track him down, and they get to that warehouse, and
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: they're looking for it, and they're hinting the whole time
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: that it's aliens, and you get to that scene with
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: the big body bag, and they left it at that.
- 1:47:17Speaker 4: And you were like, whoa, now Indiana Jones is involved
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: with Area 51, and that was it. They went on
- 1:47:23Speaker 4: to a whole new adventure about something in this world.
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: And you just kind of had that hint of, oh, yeah,
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: and Indy's even dealt with, you know, this. I'm like,
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: if they didn't base the whole movie around it and
- 1:47:33Speaker 4: bring freaking aliens in at the end, I was like,
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: that would have been kind of cool to just touch
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: on it just a little bit at the very beginning
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: and then start a whole new adventure about something cool
- 1:47:41Speaker 4: and not fucking aliens.
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: But.
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: I don't know. I thought that would have been a
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: cool idea, and they didn't do it. But, again, just
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: Spielberg not even following his own system. I mean, he
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: set up the framework of the movies, and then he
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: didn't even follow it on this one.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, throughout most of the other movies, the
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: other Indiana Jones movies and stuff, there were a lot
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: of scenes that could have been slightly believable. You were like, yeah,
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: he probably could have done that. He probably could have
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: done that.
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: But you know.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: What 70-year-old Harrison Ford... Going off three waterfalls in a
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: little amphibious jeep? No, they would all fucking die. They
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: would all die.
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: I don't know. They're all pretty angry.
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: Yeah, the fridge.
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: He would have died.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: In the fridge.
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: Everybody likes to talk about Crystal Skull, but I'm like,
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: you look at pretty much everything that happens in Temple
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: of Doom. And that's okay. I mean, it's all just
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: doing this, like, serials thing. I mean, it's all based
- 1:48:33Speaker 4: on unrealistic things to begin with. So I'm okay with that.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: Well, I mean, aside from the raft.
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: The raft is crazy. I mean, pulling human darts out.
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: I mean, there's a lot of crazy shit going on
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: in that movie. But it's fun. And, yeah, he was
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: young Indy. So, I mean, it's a hard sell. I...
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: At the end, I still kind of just like seeing
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: him back in the hat. I liked seeing Harrison Ford
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: play it again. I'm afraid... It's so flat.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: It was at that point, him running around, you looked
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: at him and you were waiting for him to break
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: a hip.
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: You were just like.
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: He doesn't have the same thing anymore. His delivery is off.
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: It's just.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: He didn't even sound like Andy in the movie.
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: It's shitty dialogue with shitty delivery and just... Yeah, it
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: didn't sound like him. He was yelling half the time.
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: I'm like, did they put voiceovers in it? Because it
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: doesn't even sound like him.
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: I just tried to get what I could out of
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: it because I like the indie franchise so much. So
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: I tried to take the few pieces that I liked
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: and at least be like, okay, that was okay. But, yeah,
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: as a whole, it's just, yeah, it really doesn't need
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: to exist.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: Shia LaBeouf swinging from vines and catching up with him.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: I'm surprised he didn't comb his hair while he was swinging.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: He got sucked up in the tree. I was like, oh, what,
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: is he going to swing from vines and catch up
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: with him now?
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: And then, you know, the monkeys show up.
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: And then the monkeys show up, and then Shia LaBeouf's like, hey,
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: I could be like a monkey and just swing from
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: vine to vine and then catch up with him. How
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: the fuck does he know where they're at? And he just,
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: there he goes.
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: Woo!
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: His LaBeouf powers.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: His LaBeouf powers.
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Oh, wow. He is horrible. I do
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: not understand why they keep putting Shia in things.
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: Yeah, he really is not an impressive actor at all.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: I could at least understand it if he was somewhat attractive.
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: It's kind of weird looking.
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: He is not attractive whatsoever.
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: I don't know. He just became the... go-to young actor.
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: For some reason I like that ending where the hat
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: blows towards him and he just picks up the hat
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: and you're like no don't put it on don't put
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: it on and then Indiana snaps from him and you're.
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: Like oh thank god I was at least glad I
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: was like oh please don't hand him the franchise although
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: they're already setting it up but I'm like I don't
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: know I.
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: Heard that Harrison Ford wanted to kill.
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: The character off see I heard they're planning a five
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: I've heard he's already in the works.
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: He's planning a five, but he's planning to kill off
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: the character.
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: At the end?
- 1:50:48Speaker 4: Okay, because he was supposed to be in the fifth one,
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: so unless they're going to kill him off at the end.
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: But what the hell is he going to be searching
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: for then? I mean, what is it? Indiana Jones? Yeah.
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: There's somewhere around here. I know it. The remote control.
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: He moves ahead to the 80s.
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: Crusade for the bedpan.
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh, God.
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: Legend of the stolen ginger snap cookies.
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: Well, then it has to super fast forward because we
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: know he lives forever. If you're including the TV series
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: in the mythology, I mean, we see him as an
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: old man in the 80s.
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: They're going to forget that because you got to understand
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: most people that watch this forgot about the TV show
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: and forgot completely about that.
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: They're going to be coming in.
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: And this may be one of those things where they'll
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: just leave it be and wait until Harrison Ford dies,
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: and then they'll reboot it because they'll be like, you
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: know what? Harrison Ford can't say a damn thing about
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: it because he's dead now. Now let's put whoever.
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: Really, I would almost rather have them distance themselves. If
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: Harrison Ford isn't going to be able to do it
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: like he used to, take him out of it. At
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: this point, don't even give it to Spielberg anymore because
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: we've seen what he does with it. It's kind of
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: the same thing with the George Lucas.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: Don't let him touch Star Wars anymore.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: That's what I told her. I was like, did he
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: go to the same fucking crazy places?
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: He did, obviously.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: Did they eat the same mushrooms or what? They both
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: went off on this, hey, let's make more money. Let's
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: reboot this, or not reboot it, but let's make another one.
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: Let's tack more on to it. Yeah.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: And make it suck.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: Well, I mean, yeah.
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: So, yeah, if they would find somebody talented to give
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: it to and bring in a new actor, I would
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: almost live with that rather than them cranking out more
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: crap that, you know, with the worn out stars, with
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: director that's not doing the right thing with it anymore.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: It's like if you could go on and make other adventures,
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: would I want to see somebody else besides Harrison Ford?
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: I don't know. It depends.
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: It depends on how they do it and who does it.
- 1:52:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: Not Daniel Craig.
- 1:52:40Speaker 4: Because, I mean, there were a lot of other stories. Like,
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: I remember as a kid having the Marvel Comics, and
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: there's all these other adventures he goes on.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: Or even the books.
- 1:52:47Speaker 4: Or the little books.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: Dude, I fucking love the Which Way books.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: Those were awesome, too.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: I had a shit ton of them, man. They were awesome.
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: And they did a whole Dark Horse series, I think, too. So,
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: I mean, they went over so many different, I mean,
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: they could cover so many other ones. I mean, it
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: was almost something kind of like they did with the
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: Star Wars, if they did like an animated series, where
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: then you don't have to worry about casting. You just
- 1:53:09Speaker 4: get a good voice actor. Because there's so many other
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: stories they could tell that I would like to see,
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: but I don't want them to screw stuff up.
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: I mean, one of the books that I remember was
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: like Indiana Jones and the Eye of the Fates, where
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: he's trying to find the Eye of the Fates. And
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: there's one for anything. I mean, you've got all this
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: Egyptian stuff you can cover, Babylonian. You've got everything you
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: can cover.
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: He can cover all these different plots, and I wish
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: they would do it or find a way. I mean,
- 1:53:31Speaker 4: I guess the closest they did that Infernal Machine was
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: supposedly a really good story on the PC game that
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: they came up with.
- 1:53:36Speaker 3: I guess. I don't know.
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: So, I mean, that's something I think they've tried to
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: go there, but I would rather almost see them do
- 1:53:42Speaker 4: something animated, kind of like they're doing with the DC
- 1:53:45Speaker 4: movies that are really kind of well done and written
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: for a little older audience. So if they could do
- 1:53:51Speaker 4: something like that, I would rather see them do that
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: than just... crank out another ancient Harrison Ford version.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: Yeah, because, I mean, with the animated version, he could
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: stay the same. Yeah. You wouldn't have to worry. You
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: could stay within the same timeline. You wouldn't have to
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: keep bumping the timeline up because your actor's getting old.
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: I hate that this one was so predictable. You kept
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: waiting for what gimmick are they going to pull out
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: of the old movies. I'm like, all right, when's there
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: going to be a snake?
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: Well, we know that's in every movie now.
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: When's there going to be a snake?
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: I already knew they were going to find the Ark
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: at the beginning. I was like, oh, they're going to,
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: They're going to probably stumble upon the Ark at some point.
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: They'll just pass by. He'll be leaning up against it,
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: lighting a cigarette.
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: And, of course, there it is.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: Or just, like, rolling after him.
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: Oh, there that is. Hmm. That's frustrating.
- 1:54:38Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: I hated it.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I blocked most of it out of
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: my memory, which is why I'm having a little bit
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: of trouble remembering.
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: Parts of it enough to get a real good rant
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: started on it. Because as soon as it went off,
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: I was like, you know what, I already forgot this movie.
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: As soon as the credits rolled, I was like, I've
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: already forgotten this movie.
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: Kate's gone. Blanchette and her awful.
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I forgot. I didn't even realize it was
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: Kate Blanchette. And her wig?
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, that really bothered me because Kate Blanchette is
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: like an amazing actress.
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: She was horrible in that.
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: She was terrible in that. Terrible. I'm like, you fucking
- 1:55:09Speaker 5: have Oscars and this is awful.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: I didn't know it was going to be bad. That's
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: why she only kind of half did it. She half-assed it,
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: because she knew it was going to suck. She's like, eh,
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: I'm getting a paycheck anyways. Fuck it.
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: She's like, this is going to be a good paycheck.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: It could be an Indiana Jones movie. Yeah, whatever.
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, whatever.
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: Write me a big check, Paramount.
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: And she was supposed to be the main villain, too,
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: and she wasn't really that great of a main villain.
- 1:55:32Speaker 5: The ant scene was terrible.
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: Good lord.
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: Does that conclude your geek activities?
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: You've exhausted him.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: No, I watched today on Sci-Fi Channel, I watched In the.
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: Name of the King.
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: We were already making fun of that one earlier.
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: Only Torch really did it.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I gotta say, Jason's completely out of place in
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: this movie. If you could ever find somebody who doesn't
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: look like they belong in the Middle.
- 1:56:01Speaker 4: Ages, it's him.
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: Did he ever take his shirt off?
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: I don't think so. I can't remember that he did.
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: I almost, well, I was going to say, if you
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: ever find somebody who doesn't belong in the Middle Ages,
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: it's Ray Liotta.
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: Your other star. Yeah, Ray Liotta.
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: Actually, pretty much most of the people there are Matthew Lillard.
- 1:56:19Speaker 4: No, none of them fit this.
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: Yeah. But now I'm pretty sure Burt Reynolds was actually there.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Burt Reynolds was there.
- 1:56:25Speaker 4: He's like, I used to live over here.
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:56:27Speaker 4: Across the street there.
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: So, you know, it was fun.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: Helen Hunt Jr. kind of fit in, I guess. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: I like her.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: She's cute. She can fit in different places. That's fine.
- 1:56:39Speaker 4: Lili Sobieski.
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: Lili Sobieski. And she's got a cool name.
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: It's fun to say. Yeah.
- 1:56:43Speaker 5: Sobieski.
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: It's okay. Lili Sobieski. It's not as fun as the
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: best name in the world. Oh, my God. Juliana Maliz.
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: I don't know. That's still backseat to Antoine Foucault.
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: No, Julianna Magaliz is the best.
- 1:56:55Speaker 4: Julianna Magaliz, who has resurrected her career. Good for her.
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: So now we can say her name more often.
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: And I do, too, in every commercial for The Good Wife.
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: The Good Wife starring Julianna Magaliz.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: Julianna Magaliz. And I work with other J's like, no, no.
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: Speaking of which, this week on regular TV, and I
- 1:57:10Speaker 4: didn't watch it, but I saw it on and I went, oh,
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: my God, I forgot she was even in that. I
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: forgot she's like the flight attendant in Snakes on a Plane.
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: What was she thinking? What kind of hard times was
- 1:57:22Speaker 4: she on at that point in her career?
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: I don't really remember that movie.
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: It was a good movie.
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: It's fun, but I totally forgot she was in it.
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: It was all Samuel L. Jackson and Kenan. Like, that's
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: all I remembered in the cast. And snakes. And I
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: was just like, is that? No.
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: I just remember the email service where you could enter
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: somebody's name and then Samuel L. Jackson would call them up.
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: And tell them that they watched it. We got our
- 1:57:42Speaker 4: phone calls.
- 1:57:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: I got one. Wasn't Fake Sharon that one, too?
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: Yeah, she's one of the, yeah.
- 1:57:47Speaker 3: She was one of the.
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: TV show. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: Whatever, I don't know.
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: She was also on Are You Afraid of the Dark?
- 1:57:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I know.
- 1:57:53Speaker 3: Rachel, I forget what her name is. It's not important.
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: Fake Cher.
- 1:57:56Speaker 4: Yeah, she'll always be Fake Cher.
- 1:57:58Speaker 5: Yeah, the Clueless TV series. Someone tried to tell me
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: the Clueless movie was horrible. I'm like, the hell you say?
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: That's for me.
- 1:58:04Speaker 5: One of the best movies ever.
- 1:58:05Speaker 3: It's not in my top ten. It's not in top five.
- 1:58:07Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: But anyways, Dungeon Siege Tale.
- 1:58:10Speaker 3: Huh?
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: Dungeon Siege Tale.
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 1:58:12Speaker 4: In the name of the king.
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: In the name of the king.
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: It was interesting. It was okay. Did you watch the
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: whole thing? I watched the whole damn thing.
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: I left after an hour and 15 minutes. Yeah, you did.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I kept watching it. I kept watching it. It
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: was okay. It kept me entertained. You know? I mean,
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: other than looking like a... Kind of poor man's version
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: of Lord of the Rings. I can't remember what those
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: guys were called. Grogs or Grubs or something, whatever, the
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: bad guys. They just kind of looked like orcs.
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: The guy from Lord of the Rings was in it, too.
- 1:58:40Speaker 4: Which one?
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: Jonathan Rhys-Davies? Oh, I don't know. The guy who played
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: the dwarf, the little short troll guy.
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: He was in it?
- 1:58:49Speaker 3: He was the.
- 1:58:50Speaker 4: Who was he?
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: It's the guy who pointed out that he was the guy.
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: From Lord of the Rings.
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: Oh, I don't remember. You know, whatever. That is right,
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: Jonathan Rhys-Davies.
- 1:58:58Speaker 4: That's somebody.
- 1:58:59Speaker 3: I keep wanting to say Jonathan Rhys-Meyer. Isn't he the
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: pretty one?
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: I think so.
- 1:59:03Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: Jason Statham just looked completely out of place in this movie.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: His fighting style looked completely out of place. You kept
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: waiting for him to drive a BMW out of somewhere
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: or bust out in a suit, which neither one of
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: those ever happened. I guess it was an okay movie.
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: Something somebody threw together quickly as an afterthought.
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: I was just amazed at the cast they got for that.
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Ron Perlman was enjoyable.
- 1:59:28Speaker 4: Ron Perlman will show up for anything. You don't care.
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: Pretty much.
- 1:59:30Speaker 3: Ron Perlman and a pig. Yeah.
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: So, whatever.
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: It was an okay movie. It was good for a
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: sci-fi being on TV movie to occupy your Sunday for
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: a little bit while you're drinking coffee and trying to
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: wake up. It was okay.
- 1:59:45Speaker 4: Wait and poop. Wait and poop. All right. That round
- 1:59:52Speaker 4: out the week then.
- 1:59:53Speaker 3: I think so.
- 1:59:56Speaker 4: Oh, Lord. Okay, kids, get out your Dakota pens. This
- 2:00:02Speaker 4: time for the movie countdown secret circle reveal of the
- 2:00:04Speaker 4: next exciting episode. For you members of the secret circle.
- 2:00:09Speaker 4: We've named many movies we're going to get around to
- 2:00:11Speaker 4: watching eventually, but next week we're actually going to do
- 2:00:14Speaker 4: the test run, the experiment at the coffee shop, if
- 2:00:17Speaker 4: you will. We are?
- 2:00:19Speaker 3: We are?
- 2:00:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: Coffee for everyone.
- 2:00:23Speaker 4: So, yep, next week will be the first installment of
- 2:00:26Speaker 4: the Caffeinated Movie Geek, so we'll see how that goes.
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: I don't like coffee. I do.
- 2:00:33Speaker 5: Not chocolate.
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: I get real hyper on caffeine, so.
- 2:00:36Speaker 4: This should be interesting.
- 2:00:39Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: Well, as far as music, I figure today's movie was
- 2:00:43Speaker 4: all about the nerd. We worked with the nerd. Her
- 2:00:46Speaker 4: shirt was about nerd. The main character's name was nerd,
