- 0:00Speaker 1: Community Center.
- 0:01Speaker 2: So glad to have you back in again and find
- 0:04Speaker 2: out what's going on at the West Side Community Center.
- 0:07Speaker 2: There's just seems like you guys keep evolving and coming
- 0:12Speaker 2: up with new stuff.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Absolutely, I'm finding more and more ways to just connect
- 0:17Speaker 3: with the community at every level.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got events going on tonight and later this
- 0:23Speaker 2: week and in all month and pretty much every day,
- 0:27Speaker 2: it seems like.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So and lots of good stuff going on at the
- 0:33Speaker 2: dealership too. We finished off a really strong July performance,
- 0:38Speaker 2: really our best month since, uh since we sold the
- 0:41Speaker 2: Ford Dealership and we've been focused on Toyota.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It was it was a.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Great month and and you know now we're off and
- 0:47Speaker 2: running in August. We're at the end of July. We
- 0:49Speaker 2: were virtually out of used cars we keep had. We've
- 0:52Speaker 2: been having that problem with our new Toyotas, but this
- 0:56Speaker 2: month we were.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Out of both. It is good.
- 0:59Speaker 2: That's it's a good thing in business to have high
- 1:02Speaker 2: demand for your product, and we are needing to purchase
- 1:07Speaker 2: some used cars, and so.
- 1:09Speaker 1: They are in very high demand right now and at
- 1:12Speaker 1: least ours are.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm not sure what's going on there, but we will
- 1:16Speaker 2: pay top dollar for that we make it really simple.
- 1:18Speaker 2: If you're looking to sell a car or trade one in,
- 1:21Speaker 2: you can start the process online on our website and
- 1:25Speaker 2: get a third party validation of the price through KBB,
- 1:29Speaker 2: and then we'll inspect the vehicle when it comes in.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Often we can offer more than the KBB estimate, but
- 1:36Speaker 2: it gives you a great third party valuation, so.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You really know where you are on.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Your car purchase. And with our great tools on the website,
- 1:46Speaker 2: you can go in add your trade, so put your
- 1:49Speaker 2: credit in there, calculate your payment, do all the work,
- 1:53Speaker 2: answer all those questions that we used to be the
- 1:56Speaker 2: mystery when you were buying a car. We try to
- 1:59Speaker 2: keep it simple and straightforward, very transparent and fun to
- 2:03Speaker 2: purchase a vehicle, and with our great noncommissioned sales professionals,
- 2:10Speaker 2: but we do have great incentives right now too. Kicked
- 2:14Speaker 2: off the national sales event for Toyota this week and
- 2:18Speaker 2: it's this time of year is the model year end changeover,
- 2:22Speaker 2: so where it's just.
- 2:23Speaker 1: About to happen. We've got we don't have any twenty
- 2:25Speaker 1: sixties yet, but they will start arriving.
- 2:27Speaker 2: In the next probably by maybe some by the end
- 2:30Speaker 2: of the month and certainly in September and October. So
- 2:34Speaker 2: we've got great incentives now on our twenty fives. I
- 2:37Speaker 2: have one twenty four left that we need to sell
- 2:41Speaker 2: and got great deals on Camery, Corolla, RAB four, Tacoma Tundra.
- 2:49Speaker 2: So come check out all the deals done just Toyota
- 2:53Speaker 2: and anyway, I want to talk more about west Side
- 2:57Speaker 2: Community Center and what's going on out there. Chavon, So
- 3:02Speaker 2: I know you guys, have you know been around for
- 3:04Speaker 2: seventy years in Bartlesville and have you joined the team
- 3:09Speaker 2: a year or two ago?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Now?
- 3:11Speaker 2: About a year ago now, and welcome back to Bartlesville.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I'll say again.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I love your story though, and what drew you back
- 3:19Speaker 2: to the West Side Community Center? So let's just start there.
- 3:22Speaker 2: You know, some people may not know you know your history.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Did you grow up around here?
- 3:28Speaker 3: I did, born and raised in Bartlesville, America as I
- 3:31Speaker 3: like to call it, and moved away to I attended
- 3:35Speaker 3: I've been attending Westside Community Center since I was six
- 3:37Speaker 3: years old. So took the tap and the ballet and
- 3:40Speaker 3: the soap carbon and the painting, all the wonderful things
- 3:42Speaker 3: that kids love to do in the summer. Actually got
- 3:45Speaker 3: my first job through the west Side Community Center as well,
- 3:48Speaker 3: which is kind of a nod to our we Prosper program.
- 3:51Speaker 3: We have four teenagers to apprentice. But I moved away
- 3:55Speaker 3: and I was actually living overseas and recently came back
- 3:59Speaker 3: to what I thought was to visit, learned about the
- 4:02Speaker 3: west Side Community Center. Had a great plan I thought
- 4:06Speaker 3: to keep the building open and to keep it from closing,
- 4:09Speaker 3: and a rough patch there definitely had a rough board was.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Searching for any opportunity to keep it going. And then
- 4:17Speaker 2: you came in and with a plan and vision to
- 4:20Speaker 2: keep things moving and you have a great board.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yes, these volunteers are so important.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, looking to get there, and so many of our
- 4:29Speaker 2: friends are there.
- 4:30Speaker 3: And it's a lot of really great people on our board.
- 4:34Speaker 3: And one of the really cool things is that we
- 4:36Speaker 3: have some individuals who attended Summer Fine Arts on west
- 4:39Speaker 3: Side as well that are on our board. So it's
- 4:42Speaker 3: just a great group of people with a heart for
- 4:45Speaker 3: the city and a love for west Side.
- 4:47Speaker 2: And so much of what people known is the kids stuff.
- 4:49Speaker 2: You guys have done so much for children through the years,
- 4:52Speaker 2: mentorship and tutoring and you know that stuff, I know
- 4:55Speaker 2: is really important. But now you're doing a lot with
- 4:58Speaker 2: adults and have some of your great events coming up
- 5:03Speaker 2: are just unique, I think and will be interesting to everyone.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I think. So our biggest thing when I came back
- 5:11Speaker 3: is our being a community center. I thought it was
- 5:14Speaker 3: very very important to serve the community, and we have
- 5:18Speaker 3: been known as an after school program for kids, and
- 5:20Speaker 3: we will not lose that program, but we also just
- 5:23Speaker 3: want to pivot and make sure that we're serving the community.
- 5:26Speaker 3: And so last year when I came and also at
- 5:28Speaker 3: the beginning of this year, just kind of surveyed the community,
- 5:31Speaker 3: ask them what they want to see. They said, more fun,
- 5:33Speaker 3: more mixers and laughter and community connection, and we listened.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And so that's where a lot of our events are
- 5:40Speaker 3: sparking from what the community said they would love to see.
- 5:43Speaker 2: And we're talking about things like your paint, mocktail and
- 5:47Speaker 2: mingle and a greatly unique event where you can come
- 5:51Speaker 2: learn to how to make Puerto.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Rican dishes and eat some food. I expect too.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Absolutely tech savvy seniors, I think, I thought was a
- 6:02Speaker 2: really cool program. And then you know, stuff like yoga
- 6:06Speaker 2: and other things that happened. So yeah, tell us first
- 6:10Speaker 2: of all about what's happening tonight, we have.
- 6:14Speaker 3: This series called Mingle and Mocktail, and so essentially what
- 6:17Speaker 3: it is is just different different ways to connect with
- 6:20Speaker 3: the community, to just connect through friendships, whether you're single
- 6:24Speaker 3: looking to meet new people, or whether you're just a
- 6:27Speaker 3: couple wanting to connect with other couples. We have various
- 6:30Speaker 3: different series of that, and tonight as one where we're
- 6:32Speaker 3: just doing a mini paint and SIPs so you can
- 6:35Speaker 3: come and paint and sip on some mocktails. We also
- 6:38Speaker 3: have the room set up if you just want to
- 6:39Speaker 3: sit and play games and just take in the atmosphere
- 6:42Speaker 3: like it really is set up to connect. That's really
- 6:46Speaker 3: really important for people to just find ways to connect.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Gathering spot with some stuff to do and no charge.
- 6:52Speaker 3: You know, it is free to come, free to enjoy conversation.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Paint and their mocktails do cost it all.
- 7:00Speaker 3: They do mock tails calls a dollar. But I'm really
- 7:04Speaker 3: excited because our new community engagement specialist, her name is CREWP. Holly,
- 7:08Speaker 3: and she's actually an artist, a self taught artist, so
- 7:11Speaker 3: we want people to come out. You don't have to
- 7:13Speaker 3: be an expert. It's not anything whereas all this technicality
- 7:17Speaker 3: is when it comes to painting. She just wants to
- 7:19Speaker 3: show you how to put your passion into the brush.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And then when is it on Saturday night? Is when
- 7:26Speaker 2: the borakua bites. Yes, and that is a really neat
- 7:30Speaker 2: thing because you're going to learn about Puerto Rican food
- 7:33Speaker 2: and make several dishes with somebody who's recently been to
- 7:38Speaker 2: Puerto Rico, right and tell us about that.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Absolutely. So we started something called Taste the Community, and
- 7:43Speaker 3: our goal is every month we want to highlight a
- 7:46Speaker 3: different culture within our community. And so this Saturday is
- 7:49Speaker 3: actually my mother in law, who was born and raised
- 7:52Speaker 3: in Puerto Rico. She spent the last two weeks in
- 7:54Speaker 3: Puerto Rico, came back on Sunday. And when I tell you,
- 7:57Speaker 3: she is excited to come to community center and just
- 8:01Speaker 3: share her culture and food and music with the community.
- 8:05Speaker 3: It's going to be really exciting. So yes, she will
- 8:07Speaker 3: teach us how to make impanadias or impanadas Puerto Rican impanadas.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And we will also watch how to make Aerro's, coon
- 8:17Speaker 3: candules and tol Stone's and you will take home sofrito.
- 8:21Speaker 3: And I know those words mean nothing to most people,
- 8:25Speaker 3: but I will tell you it is just delicious. Just
- 8:28Speaker 3: know that you're going to make some amazingly delicious food
- 8:32Speaker 3: and you will take home some sofrito, which is just like, well,
- 8:36Speaker 3: it's a dish that we put in a lot of rice.
- 8:38Speaker 3: But just come, just come, that's all I can say. Come,
- 8:41Speaker 3: prepare to eat when you get there early. The really
- 8:44Speaker 3: fun part about that is we're opening up the doors
- 8:47Speaker 3: at two pm because we're allowing people to take a
- 8:50Speaker 3: virtual tour of the island through our VR headsets, so
- 8:54Speaker 3: you can actually come early take a tour through the island.
- 8:57Speaker 3: She brought back some canapas, which is a it's a
- 9:01Speaker 3: fruit that grows over there. And then we also have
- 9:03Speaker 3: some Puerto Rican coffee, so if you like coffee, you
- 9:06Speaker 3: have to come try some straight from the island of
- 9:09Speaker 3: Puerto Rico.
- 9:09Speaker 2: That's great, and it happens it start. You're opening it too,
- 9:13Speaker 2: and the event is three to five.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Three to five, yes, excellent.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Well that sounds like a lot of fun, it really does.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I love to eat and to cook, and I read
- 9:22Speaker 2: four new things like that. I'm sure you get a
- 9:24Speaker 2: lot of people interested in that. How do people sign
- 9:28Speaker 2: up for that? Or what is the process?
- 9:30Speaker 1: There?
- 9:30Speaker 3: Great questions if you go to Wccbartlesville dot org slash event.
- 9:36Speaker 3: You can sign up for the event tonight. You can
- 9:38Speaker 3: sign up for Taste of Puerto Rico, but Rico Bytes
- 9:42Speaker 3: any of our events. You can actually sign up from there.
- 9:44Speaker 3: So we would love for people to come out.
- 9:46Speaker 2: And you've got a lot of regular stuff that goes
- 9:49Speaker 2: on too, and tell us about that, so people that
- 9:52Speaker 2: might be interested in some.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Of that, Yes, I don't think sometimes people know that
- 9:56Speaker 3: we have been offering yoga every Monday for over a decade.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So Lisa Roll, who is an amazing yoga instructor, teaches
- 10:05Speaker 3: yoga every Monday night from five thirty to six thirty.
- 10:08Speaker 3: On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, we have a high dance
- 10:12Speaker 3: energy class taught by Soul Sisters, and we're actually the
- 10:16Speaker 3: process of looking for someone who teaches line dancing because
- 10:19Speaker 3: we really want to offer a lot of creative things.
- 10:21Speaker 3: But we do have that every week. We also have
- 10:25Speaker 3: tech savvy Seniors, So any seniors who may want some
- 10:29Speaker 3: extra help or learn some tools when it comes to
- 10:32Speaker 3: their phones, their tablets, their computers, their laptops, hands on, absolutely,
- 10:37Speaker 3: answering questions absolutely. If you want to bring your device,
- 10:40Speaker 3: bring your device. We will help you navigate whatever it
- 10:44Speaker 3: is that you're looking to do. So transferring pictures tends
- 10:47Speaker 3: to be a really big one for people, so you
- 10:48Speaker 3: don't lose them. Absolutely. You get those barrage of pictures
- 10:51Speaker 3: and your text messages and no one downloads them, and
- 10:53Speaker 3: you go back for it and they're not there. So
- 10:56Speaker 3: we never want you to lose those special.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Moments out the world of the cloud.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 11:02Speaker 1: It was.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I was talking to my computer earlier this morning about
- 11:09Speaker 2: SharePoint and getting in finding files in the cloud.
- 11:13Speaker 3: It is a lot of fun. I tell everyone when
- 11:15Speaker 3: they come home, like sometimes you just have to whisper
- 11:17Speaker 3: sweet nothings to your to your technology device and it
- 11:19Speaker 3: will work for you. And even if that doesn't work,
- 11:23Speaker 3: just bring it to the West Side every Wednesday at
- 11:25Speaker 3: twelve and we'll help you navigated.
- 11:28Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And you've also got like a garden Club tours for
- 11:35Speaker 2: historic black town tours coming up, which is that was
- 11:38Speaker 2: really interesting.
- 11:39Speaker 3: It is we took a group in March to go
- 11:43Speaker 3: on to tour some of the historically black towns and
- 11:46Speaker 3: I invite people to come because they hear that word
- 11:49Speaker 3: and what they think that word is and how those
- 11:51Speaker 3: towns came about. It's a really really interesting history behind it,
- 11:55Speaker 3: and it's one that I feel like Oklahoma should be
- 11:58Speaker 3: very proud of when it to the towns. Also, and
- 12:02Speaker 3: that's coming up and I need to change it. It's
- 12:04Speaker 3: actually in September, the beginning of September. But then also
- 12:08Speaker 3: we're going to take a group to the re enactment
- 12:10Speaker 3: of the Battle at Honeyfields and that is amazing. So
- 12:14Speaker 3: I strongly encourage people to log onto our side and
- 12:18Speaker 3: learn about a civil war that was a very pivotal
- 12:21Speaker 3: moment in freeing slaves around actually here in the South.
- 12:26Speaker 3: And so definitely come out and hear about that. It's
- 12:28Speaker 3: so great. It really is a wonderful thing. And then
- 12:31Speaker 3: our I didn't want to say, our garden club is
- 12:34Speaker 3: every Friday. We're growing some great things in our garden.
- 12:36Speaker 3: We have, oh my gosh, a little bit of everything.
- 12:39Speaker 3: So whether you like to garden with plants or you
- 12:42Speaker 3: like to garden with food, we invite you to come out.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I will say, my thumb is every color but green.
- 12:48Speaker 3: So I welcome all experts to come out and help
- 12:51Speaker 3: me learn how to garden some things. Yes, and even
- 12:53Speaker 3: for our taste of community on Saturdays.
- 12:56Speaker 1: We have a garden there we do you're growing food flowers, yes.
- 13:01Speaker 3: And parsley and oregano and peppers.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And learn about that or don't have a place.
- 13:09Speaker 3: All of the above, we invite you to come out
- 13:11Speaker 3: and some of the ingredients for our tastes of community
- 13:14Speaker 3: we're actually going to pull from the garden. So we
- 13:17Speaker 3: invite people to come out.
- 13:18Speaker 1: It's fun. That's really cool.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah, the uh, you know, you have lots of other
- 13:25Speaker 2: things that happen every day. And we talked about the
- 13:27Speaker 2: kids programming and after school. Yeah, that's you know, I
- 13:30Speaker 2: want to explore that a little bit too, because it
- 13:33Speaker 2: is still kind of the foundation I think of what
- 13:36Speaker 2: you guys do. And I know for decades it's really
- 13:39Speaker 2: been an important thing. I know lots of people who
- 13:42Speaker 2: used to go there in my rotary club and go
- 13:44Speaker 2: to to do some some mentoring of the kids and
- 13:48Speaker 2: tutoring and did it for a long time.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And uh, you know, it's a it's such a neat program.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So tell them about how kids, uh, what they find
- 13:57Speaker 2: there and what you're helping them learn.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Absolute Well, we just wrapped up our Summer Fine Arts,
- 14:02Speaker 3: which is a program that has been around for over
- 14:04Speaker 3: fifty years. I think that's a program that has touched
- 14:07Speaker 3: kids from every corner of Bartlesville and just a plug
- 14:11Speaker 3: for that. We launched our entrepreneurship program through that, and
- 14:14Speaker 3: so our kiddos are coming in on Saturday if anyone
- 14:17Speaker 3: wants to come out at noon, and they are going
- 14:20Speaker 3: to pitch their business and sell their products to anyone
- 14:23Speaker 3: that wants to be there on Saturday at noon. So
- 14:25Speaker 3: definitely that. But our after school program, which is Cash
- 14:29Speaker 3: Community Advance Study Hall super excited because we're shifting it
- 14:33Speaker 3: just a little bit. So we will offer STEM classes.
- 14:38Speaker 3: We have a three D printer. We also have where
- 14:41Speaker 3: kids can scringprint T shirts and make jewelry and all
- 14:44Speaker 3: kinds of different art. But it is We do offer
- 14:48Speaker 3: mentorship through that as well, but we also just want
- 14:50Speaker 3: to introduce kids to as many things as we possibly
- 14:54Speaker 3: can during that time. So one of them is trade
- 14:57Speaker 3: that they will be introduced to through the VR head set,
- 15:00Speaker 3: so they can learn things such as auto mechanics, they
- 15:03Speaker 3: can learn HVAC, they can learn cosmetology, all through virtual reality,
- 15:08Speaker 3: so that if something sticks when they actually get in school,
- 15:12Speaker 3: they can head right to tech. It's really a great
- 15:15Speaker 3: way for them to just get introduced to it at
- 15:17Speaker 3: a really young age. So we're excited about that. And
- 15:19Speaker 3: part of that is our gardening too. It is an
- 15:22Speaker 3: intergenerational garden and so the goal is through the gardening
- 15:26Speaker 3: once school starts, is for our older adults to come
- 15:29Speaker 3: in and teach some things to our younger kids so
- 15:32Speaker 3: they can learn to garden together, they can cook together,
- 15:35Speaker 3: they can cultivate the plants and all the vegetables together.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Really is just a way for them to connect.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Well, that's a there's.
- 15:41Speaker 2: A pattern there where you bring older the older people
- 15:45Speaker 2: together with the absolutely, and it really helps create that community. Absolutely,
- 15:50Speaker 2: and that that you know, the connection and and you
- 15:54Speaker 2: mentioned that finding that thing that might interest them and
- 15:57Speaker 2: explore it, letting them explore different things without a lot
- 16:00Speaker 2: of pressure or you know, anything, but just to be curious.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Absolutely, and that I love that word because we are
- 16:07Speaker 3: all about that sparking curiosity. You expose him to as
- 16:11Speaker 3: many things as you possibly can and something will stick.
- 16:14Speaker 3: That curiosity will turn into something much greater later down
- 16:17Speaker 3: the road, and that's what we're hoping.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I know that we use that word sparks at
- 16:21Speaker 2: the dealership. It's the craziest thing we called We had
- 16:26Speaker 2: a picture of my grandfather as a young man in Tonkuah, Oklahoma,
- 16:31Speaker 2: he worked at a Ford dealership. In nineteen twenty five,
- 16:35Speaker 2: he and two of his brothers are on a basketball
- 16:37Speaker 2: team sponsored by this Ford dealer, and their father had
- 16:41Speaker 2: passed away, had been a Methodist minister, and the family
- 16:44Speaker 2: moved to Tonkawa and he went to work at the
- 16:46Speaker 2: dealership and.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Played on the team and where they graduated high school.
- 16:51Speaker 2: He went on to Oklahoma City University and when he graduated,
- 16:56Speaker 2: his brother a year ahead of him had already come
- 16:58Speaker 2: back to Tonkawa and was working with the dealer there and
- 17:01Speaker 2: they ended up taking over that Ford dealership. And it
- 17:04Speaker 2: was how my family got into the car business, was
- 17:08Speaker 2: you know, finding an interest and you know, a lot
- 17:11Speaker 2: like that. It was the sports sponsorship stuff that we do,
- 17:15Speaker 2: sponsoring our Done Just Toyota Indians now for for so
- 17:18Speaker 2: many decades, over eight decades, and it's it's just so important.
- 17:23Speaker 2: But that picture I always called the Sparks picture because
- 17:26Speaker 2: it was the beginning of Done Just Automotive. A few
- 17:30Speaker 2: years ago, the dealer team or our employees, we decided
- 17:35Speaker 2: to it was going to become an acronym, but we
- 17:39Speaker 2: didn't know what the words were yet for SPA r
- 17:43Speaker 2: ks and they so we had every department had group
- 17:49Speaker 2: meetings and sent in ideas and we came up with
- 17:52Speaker 2: these words, with a whole bunch of potential words that
- 17:56Speaker 2: sparks would mean, and we finally selected since your partnerships aligned,
- 18:02Speaker 2: resilient Kaisen superheroes. So it's like this this kind of thing,
- 18:10Speaker 2: a value statement that we can use to make decisions
- 18:14Speaker 2: and and helps us all be on the same page.
- 18:17Speaker 2: You know, we are truth and honesty, sincerity, partnering with
- 18:22Speaker 2: the community and with our customers and together as employees alignment.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I mean, isn't that cool that you guys do that?
- 18:28Speaker 2: And resilient Kaisen is the German i mean Japanese word
- 18:33Speaker 2: for continuous improvement and very ties kind of to our
- 18:37Speaker 2: Toyota brand. And then we feel like if we do that,
- 18:41Speaker 2: we all become superheroes.
- 18:43Speaker 3: So I like that that is really good.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah, No, It's one of the unique things about Dungeons
- 18:51Speaker 2: Toyota is is we really are for all these years
- 18:55Speaker 2: about that creating that community, and I think that's really
- 18:58Speaker 2: you know what it is about. You know, we do
- 19:01Speaker 2: sell cars and fix them and stuff like that. And
- 19:04Speaker 2: of course, in oddly in today's world, and especially if
- 19:07Speaker 2: you think back to nineteen twenty five to today, you
- 19:11Speaker 2: know that one hundred years, you know how much has
- 19:15Speaker 2: changed how and transportation and all our lives and in Bartlesville.
- 19:20Speaker 2: But one great thing is Bartlesville has always had these
- 19:23Speaker 2: things like west Side that kind of create the continuity
- 19:27Speaker 2: of our community, whether it's you know, the sports stuff
- 19:32Speaker 2: that the Indians or other programs, the local football teams.
- 19:36Speaker 2: We just helped the body shop help the local local
- 19:39Speaker 2: youth football program repaint their helmets this week and they'll
- 19:45Speaker 2: be out wearing nice new helmets and different colors with
- 19:49Speaker 2: fresh paint on them this fall. And you know, so
- 19:52Speaker 2: we just love doing stuff like that, and that's why
- 19:54Speaker 2: we love having west Side Community Center.
- 19:56Speaker 1: On the program.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's one of the beautiful things that tell
- 19:59Speaker 3: people about bartles Well, it's a small community, but there
- 20:02Speaker 3: is everyone here. It's a community, I guess is the
- 20:05Speaker 3: best way to say that. You have towns and then
- 20:07Speaker 3: you have communities where people come together and rally together
- 20:10Speaker 3: and connect with each other and help each other. And
- 20:12Speaker 3: that is the beautiful part of living in a city
- 20:15Speaker 3: like part of especially.
- 20:16Speaker 2: In today's world where there's so much madness and division.
- 20:21Speaker 2: But at the same time, you know, locally we are
- 20:24Speaker 2: so bound together and our community is so strong that
- 20:27Speaker 2: way it is. It's really a great area of pride.
- 20:30Speaker 2: We should all be proud of. I are where we
- 20:33Speaker 2: live here and they you know, and it couldn't be better.
- 20:35Speaker 2: And people, you know, people have to come back at
- 20:37Speaker 2: some point. It's so great to have people like you
- 20:40Speaker 2: that go full circle and know could be anywhere in
- 20:43Speaker 2: the world and be successful, that have chosen to be
- 20:46Speaker 2: here to give back and and and then really I think, uh,
- 20:50Speaker 2: you know, I kind of did the full circle thing too.
- 20:52Speaker 1: You come back and you realize, well, heck, it's not really.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I say when you're a kid, and I say that
- 20:59Speaker 3: to the kids all the time, I'm like, I know
- 21:01Speaker 3: you cannot wait to leave, but once you leave, you
- 21:03Speaker 3: will have a deeper appreciation for the community that you
- 21:06Speaker 3: came from.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, so that's so true, and that part
- 21:12Speaker 2: of that is about what you're doing, bringing people together,
- 21:16Speaker 2: having those opportunities for people to meet and find a
- 21:20Speaker 2: new passion or something to learn. And so again, well,
- 21:25Speaker 2: we have a few minutes left to remind them about
- 21:27Speaker 2: what you have coming up these events over the next
- 21:30Speaker 2: few days.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Yeah, So we have our painting sip tonight from six
- 21:35Speaker 3: thirty to eight thirty. We have our youth entrepreneurship program
- 21:40Speaker 3: that's launching their business ideas Saturday at noon, and then
- 21:44Speaker 3: at two o'clock we open up the door so you
- 21:46Speaker 3: can take a tour of Puerto Rico virtually and then
- 21:49Speaker 3: cook some amazing food with our taste of community Berriko
- 21:51Speaker 3: bites cool.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and well, of course we'll be busy out at
- 21:56Speaker 2: the dealership too. I mentioned before we've got great incentives
- 22:00Speaker 2: right now in the Toyota National Sales event.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I do want to mention before we go just.
- 22:05Speaker 2: A few of the of the incredible lease payments and
- 22:09Speaker 2: interest rate offers they have going on on. Leasing at
- 22:12Speaker 2: Toyota is a particularly good value right now because of
- 22:16Speaker 2: the high resale value of Toyotas and the comparatively high
- 22:20Speaker 2: interest rates that are out there. So, but a lease
- 22:24Speaker 2: factor with a vehicle that retains its value well can
- 22:27Speaker 2: really get you a lower payment. I have things like
- 22:30Speaker 2: cameras for two hundred and forty nine dollars a month
- 22:33Speaker 2: a Corolla at.
- 22:34Speaker 1: One ninety nine.
- 22:36Speaker 2: We've got Highlander, the gas version of the Highlander at
- 22:40Speaker 2: four fifty nine. We've got a RAV four gas at
- 22:44Speaker 2: three oh nine, or the hybrid vehicle at three thirty nine.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Tacoma is one of the vehicles that leases the very best,
- 22:51Speaker 2: and it's just two fifty nine for an SR Toyota.
- 22:56Speaker 1: It's a four x two. But you can get great
- 22:59Speaker 1: deals on all.
- 23:00Speaker 2: The Tacoma is just a comparative thing on an interest
- 23:05Speaker 2: right side. We've got up to seventy two months at
- 23:09Speaker 2: two point nine percent on Tacoma, and that is the
- 23:13Speaker 2: twenty four mile a year Tacoma and we have one
- 23:15Speaker 2: of those left, so that's a great interest rate. And
- 23:18Speaker 2: then Tundra Gas has one point nine to nine for
- 23:20Speaker 2: up to seventy two months, and those all are great deals.
- 23:25Speaker 2: And with the dungeous discounts we have and the you know,
- 23:29Speaker 2: and we do really work to give you the very
- 23:32Speaker 2: best deal that we can. We market base price our
- 23:35Speaker 2: cars every day. One of the things I did already
- 23:39Speaker 2: today and we'll go back and do, is make sure
- 23:42Speaker 2: our cars are really priced right. So it eliminates a
- 23:45Speaker 2: lot of the need for back and forth negotiation. Of course,
- 23:49Speaker 2: we still negotiate, but we just want to make it
- 23:52Speaker 2: as simple as possible for our customers.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And we do have.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Those great tools on the website where you can work
- 23:59Speaker 2: your own deal twenty four to seven and everything from
- 24:05Speaker 2: credit to trade payments, comparing the lease to the purchase.
- 24:09Speaker 2: So say you're interested in going in and seeing what
- 24:12Speaker 2: that lease looks like on the Tacoma, you can actually
- 24:14Speaker 2: pick one of ours out, toggle between lease and payment
- 24:17Speaker 2: or a cash purchase.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And see you just make your best deal.
- 24:22Speaker 2: And I did mention also we're kind of running low
- 24:26Speaker 2: on used cars. If you have a extra vehicle or
- 24:29Speaker 2: something you're looking to sell, even if you're trading somewhere else,
- 24:33Speaker 2: please give us a shot. We've got great tools to
- 24:37Speaker 2: help you get started evaluing your vehicle. You can go
- 24:39Speaker 2: online and just enter a few a little bit of information.
- 24:43Speaker 2: The further you go actually the more accurate it gets.
- 24:46Speaker 2: But it's really simple to get started, or you can
- 24:48Speaker 2: just drop on buy. My brother Bruce is the key
- 24:52Speaker 2: use car buyer and he'll be out there. He's out
- 24:55Speaker 2: there right now probably looking at cars. And we definitely
- 24:59Speaker 2: need a few more. I think this morning we had
- 25:03Speaker 2: fourteen or fifteen used cars on the lot, and I
- 25:05Speaker 2: think we sold about forty last month, so I needed
- 25:08Speaker 2: we need a couple more, and so bring us those
- 25:12Speaker 2: used cars.
- 25:12Speaker 1: We'd love to buy.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Local vehicles that are that, you know, because a lot
- 25:16Speaker 2: of times they they just don't have that many miles
- 25:19Speaker 2: on them. Well, sometimes people commute a long distance and
- 25:22Speaker 2: you know, but a lot of times that's those are
- 25:24Speaker 2: highway biles and so it's kind of a nice But
- 25:27Speaker 2: if the cars that are just driven around Bartlesville, you know,
- 25:31Speaker 2: make great use cars because they're they're they just we
- 25:34Speaker 2: just can't go that far. That's one of the benefits
- 25:39Speaker 2: of our beautiful little city here, none of that those
- 25:43Speaker 2: traffic jams.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Had a visitor from Houston.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yesterday and he was talking about how how he'd never
- 25:48Speaker 2: been to Bartlesville before and he'd driving from Tulsa up here,
- 25:53Speaker 2: how beautiful it was, and what a great community we had,
- 25:56Speaker 2: and how it was a hidden secret as far as
- 25:59Speaker 2: he was concerned.
- 26:00Speaker 1: So it's not invisible to people.
- 26:04Speaker 2: And well, thank you so much for coming on the show, Chavon,
- 26:07Speaker 2: and for all your hard work out at the West
- 26:10Speaker 2: Side Community Center and to all your volunteers and to
- 26:13Speaker 2: everybody else involved out there. I just congratulate you on
- 26:16Speaker 2: the work you're doing that and it sounds like you're
- 26:20Speaker 2: making a big impact, and you know, really appreciate that.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Is there anything else you want people to know before
- 26:26Speaker 2: we go.
- 26:28Speaker 3: No, we just welcome you to come to the West
- 26:31Speaker 3: Side that the building is available to rent for birthday parties,
- 26:36Speaker 3: family re unions, business meetings.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Go ahead and mention your website location, go out to access.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Are their volunteer opportunities stuff.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Like, yes, there are. We always have volunteer opportunities, whether
- 26:48Speaker 3: you want to mentor a child or help with an
- 26:51Speaker 3: event or I mean, there's a ton of different things
- 26:54Speaker 3: that we can have you assist with, or even if
- 26:57Speaker 3: you have a specific trade that you would like to
- 27:00Speaker 3: come and present to the community, reach out to me.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Our physical addresses five oh one south of UC You
- 27:08Speaker 3: can reach us at or actually, our website is Wccbartlesville
- 27:11Speaker 3: dot org and we are on Facebook and Instagram at
- 27:16Speaker 3: WCC Bartlesville.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Great.
- 27:19Speaker 2: And what I'm thinking is we need to have some
- 27:21Speaker 2: of your young opportreneurs come out to the dealership and
- 27:23Speaker 2: do a tour and we could kind of show them
- 27:26Speaker 2: what all the different things that happen in a place
- 27:29Speaker 2: like that. Love that there's so many different roles and
- 27:33Speaker 2: profit centers in a car leadership. You don't often think
- 27:36Speaker 2: that there's that many moving wheels inside.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Absolutely that. And even some of our college interns, some
- 27:44Speaker 3: of our college kids that are helping with our Youth
- 27:47Speaker 3: Entrepreneurship program are business majors, and some of them aren't
- 27:50Speaker 3: sure which area of business they want to go into.
- 27:52Speaker 3: They just know they want to do business, So that
- 27:54Speaker 3: would be an amazing connection.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Absolutely well, thanks again for coming on the show today,
- 28:00Speaker 2: and I think we're running out of time.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Brad, appreciate you. Thanks so much. Yeah, this has been
- 28:06Speaker 1: card talk here on K one.
