- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello everyone, Welcome back to another episode up Star Wars
- 0:22Speaker 2: Alliance Go Home on Geek Ultimate Alliance Podcast Network for
- 0:25Speaker 2: any and all things Star Wars. I'm your host as always, Katie,
- 0:31Speaker 2: and joining me is Clay. Clay. I know how you're doing,
- 0:35Speaker 2: but you share what you want to share.
- 0:37Speaker 3: With it's I have not really made it public as
- 0:43Speaker 3: of yet, and I am okay with making it public
- 0:46Speaker 3: because you know what stuff happens. I am out of
- 0:51Speaker 3: a job currently, I am currently looking for work. It
- 0:56Speaker 3: was very uh sudden, very unforre fortunate, and uh yeah,
- 1:02Speaker 3: that's really it, I will say, you know, looking on
- 1:07Speaker 3: the bright side of things.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Yesterday I had even texted you.
- 1:11Speaker 3: I was like, Hey, I have a lot more time
- 1:13Speaker 3: to finish this book we're gonna talk about today. So
- 1:18Speaker 3: I I am in the headspace that I need to
- 1:23Speaker 3: be to of course find a new job.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Looking for that new job.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I have some resources that I'm hopefully tapping into this week,
- 1:33Speaker 3: so I'm not too worried yet. I know that being
- 1:36Speaker 3: unemployed for a long period of time can be very,
- 1:41Speaker 3: very scary because it's happened to me before. That's literally
- 1:45Speaker 3: the reason why I moved up here to Indiana, but.
- 1:49Speaker 4: I think I think I'll be okay. We we.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Somewhat saw the writing on the wall, just didn't know
- 1:59Speaker 3: it was gonna happened this quickly. Unfortunately, just with the
- 2:03Speaker 3: way management was kind of treating me, I was like, hey,
- 2:08Speaker 3: you know what, if this happens in the future, we'll
- 2:12Speaker 3: just go out with our head up high.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And it happened literally.
- 2:18Speaker 3: The week that I had talked to Abby about it,
- 2:20Speaker 3: So yikes. But yeah, with that, guys, we had to get.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It out some Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Well, yeah like it.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And honestly, like, the whole reason why I got that
- 2:38Speaker 3: job was because of my love for comics, and my
- 2:40Speaker 3: love for comics has not dissipated whatsoever. So I am
- 2:47Speaker 3: still gonna be the same person I was before that
- 2:51Speaker 3: job and after that job. Uh so still my my
- 2:55Speaker 3: my spiel at the end of the episode, you know,
- 2:58Speaker 3: following me for these reasons and that reasons, I'm still
- 3:02Speaker 3: using Blue Sky to push out indie comics creators and
- 3:07Speaker 3: artists that I absolutely love that I have learned to
- 3:10Speaker 3: love through that job.
- 3:13Speaker 4: So yeah, like it.
- 3:14Speaker 3: If anything, that job was a stepping stone, and I
- 3:18Speaker 3: do appreciate it for that reason. So yeah, like honestly,
- 3:23Speaker 3: it's like I said, stuff happens and we're gonna move
- 3:26Speaker 3: past it. But we have very minuscule news and rumors.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I would not call one of them rumors.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Uh which one the one right here in the corner here? Yeah?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yeah, see, no, no, that's the news. Okay, the rumors.
- 3:54Speaker 3: If you see the title here, I don't know if
- 3:56Speaker 3: you saw that.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Oh I forgot about that.
- 4:00Speaker 3: So it was a very quick thing that kind of
- 4:03Speaker 3: happened this weekend slash week at the beginning of the week,
- 4:07Speaker 3: and everybody kind of just was like, oh, okay, and
- 4:10Speaker 3: then moved on. There was not a whole lot of
- 4:12Speaker 3: talk about it. There was not a whole lot of
- 4:14Speaker 3: conversations around it. And I think it's basically for the
- 4:18Speaker 3: fact that right now that's how people feel about Star Wars.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And I do think that we have to wait and
- 4:27Speaker 3: see a Star Wars movie again in theaters for people
- 4:30Speaker 3: to actually be willing to have more of a conversation
- 4:34Speaker 3: about future Star Wars movie.
- 4:36Speaker 2: We have to see the consequences of our actions in
- 4:40Speaker 2: order to go, okay, we can go to the future.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, exactly, So let's go ahead and talk about
- 4:47Speaker 3: the confirmed news. Yes, especially since I just got done
- 4:54Speaker 3: watching probably one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who,
- 4:59Speaker 3: which is in the new season. By the way, I
- 5:02Speaker 3: have not seen all of the new season. Don't worry.
- 5:05Speaker 3: The ending episode already got spoiled for me. Absolutely hate it,
- 5:11Speaker 3: but I hate that. I hate that it got spoiled
- 5:14Speaker 3: for me. I don't know the context of it, but
- 5:19Speaker 3: it will be whatever it is when I finally see it.
- 5:22Speaker 3: But I just finished watching the Well this season, which
- 5:28Speaker 3: references my actual favorite episode in all of Doctor Who,
- 5:35Speaker 3: and so and I can't even say it because it
- 5:37Speaker 3: literally like spoils the reveal in the episode.
- 5:41Speaker 4: But yeah, Like, I'm ready to talk about Doctor Who.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Because Matt Smith is getting another chance at Star Wars.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yes, y'all. Deadline landed the report, and this has been
- 6:01Speaker 2: rumored that he was up for this role, but Deadline
- 6:04Speaker 2: landed the report that he will be portraying the villain
- 6:09Speaker 2: or a villain role in Star Wars Starfighter, the movie
- 6:15Speaker 2: by Sean Levy with Ryan Gosling as our hero. This
- 6:21Speaker 2: report also confirms the rumor that Mia Goth had been
- 6:26Speaker 2: cast in this movie as well, but not in what
- 6:30Speaker 2: role because She was rumored to be hunted for the
- 6:34Speaker 2: villain role as well. Yes, so unknown if they split
- 6:40Speaker 2: or if there's two villains which could possibly be or
- 6:43Speaker 2: if she's.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Now playing there's always too.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Now I I I love this.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I love this, but I also kind of hate this.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Okay, speak your mind. I want to hear. I want
- 6:58Speaker 4: to hear your thoughts.
- 7:00Speaker 2: We have a lot of white people in this.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Movie, yes, now?
- 7:05Speaker 3: Oh wait, no, I'm thinking about the Daisy Ridley movie.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Hold on, yeah, a whole it's a it's a lot
- 7:12Speaker 3: of white I totally understand. I will need a very strong,
- 7:22Speaker 3: diverse supporting cast.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely, And I think with Sean Levy that's my
- 7:32Speaker 2: only hesitation. I haven't I've seen some of his stuff obviously,
- 7:37Speaker 2: but like, haven't seen a whole lot of diversity in
- 7:41Speaker 2: what I've seen. So that's my big worry.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Now.
- 7:45Speaker 3: The only I am I The only two things that
- 7:49Speaker 3: I have seen I believe from Sean Levy is, of course,
- 7:55Speaker 3: uh Deadpool three and what was that Netflix?
- 8:00Speaker 4: The Adam Projects, The Adam Project. Now in the Atom Project.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Zoe Zeldana True was in that movie and she was fantastic.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Now, you can't tell me that you haven't seen Cheaper
- 8:17Speaker 2: by the Dozen O, yes, yes, yes, but the Pink Panther.
- 8:22Speaker 4: I actually have never.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Seen the Pink Panther with uh uh uh Steve uh
- 8:30Speaker 3: Steve Wart.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, that's how I developed my love of movies.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Is that's one of my dad's favorite movies. Y'all?
- 8:41Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I I have never seen Pink Panther.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I have seen Cheaper by the Dozen. I was gonna say, though,
- 8:48Speaker 3: Cheaper by the Dozen also very white?
- 8:51Speaker 2: So yes, uh Night at the Museum.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Oh that is true. That is true love Night at
- 8:57Speaker 4: the Musum.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 3: And then Free Guy, so hey, yeah, I have also
- 9:04Speaker 3: seen Free Guy, but Free Guy was also.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Very white.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Hopefully the powers that we go, Hey, can we cast
- 9:17Speaker 2: diversity please?
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 9:18Speaker 2: And like I'm talking like good actors and stuff like,
- 9:22Speaker 2: it doesn't have to be diversity for diversity sake.
- 9:25Speaker 4: But I will also say this, do not choose people
- 9:31Speaker 4: of color.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Just to make up the shit out of them and
- 9:35Speaker 3: make them an alien.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I don't want it.
- 9:37Speaker 2: That was about what I was going to say too.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah, so.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I love this casting though. When he was rumored for
- 9:44Speaker 2: Episode nine, which I did not find out until later
- 9:48Speaker 2: that he was going to be the villain and duel
- 9:50Speaker 2: of the Faiths. I had my heart broken over that.
- 9:55Speaker 3: I like I I will tell you this U, Mats
- 10:00Speaker 3: Smith was my doctor. He is the one that I
- 10:07Speaker 3: jumped in on doctor who I will say my favorite
- 10:12Speaker 3: doctor now is Peter Capaldi. But Matt Smith is my doctor.
- 10:18Speaker 3: He is the one that produced me to the universe,
- 10:24Speaker 3: and so I have been super excited to see him
- 10:28Speaker 3: in anything that he jumps in on. And when I
- 10:31Speaker 3: heard that he was being latched onto Star Wars, I
- 10:37Speaker 3: about squealed like a like a freaking thirteen year old
- 10:42Speaker 3: that a Justin Bieber concert like.
- 10:44Speaker 4: I was a static to see.
- 10:47Speaker 3: This man possibly like either be just like a disgustingly
- 10:56Speaker 3: like political villain. More possibly somebody that would wield a
- 11:02Speaker 3: lightsaber like just those two thoughts in my mind. Yea,
- 11:07Speaker 3: the acting range on both of those types of characters
- 11:10Speaker 3: would be absolutely amazing for Master.
- 11:12Speaker 2: And I think as Damon in the House of the Dragon,
- 11:18Speaker 2: I think he's proved himself in the sword fighting capabilities.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Obviously sword and lightsaber not so similar, but not so
- 11:27Speaker 2: dissimilar either, so but I.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Do think that he would be capable and trainable.
- 11:36Speaker 3: To get that kind of you know, movement with a
- 11:41Speaker 3: lightsaber and stuff like that, if they so choose to
- 11:46Speaker 3: put him on that path for this movie Starfighter, for
- 11:50Speaker 3: all we know, is about a pilot.
- 11:56Speaker 4: We don't know much else about this movie whatsoever.
- 11:58Speaker 3: So yeah, I am excited to see how this turns out.
- 12:05Speaker 4: So yeah, I'm I'm super excited.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I'm really happy for Matt and especially, like like I said,
- 12:13Speaker 3: for me to also be jumping back into Doctor Who.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Also boo on WB for apparently getting rid of all
- 12:25Speaker 3: of Doctor Who on HBO Max.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I think that was.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Their contract though I think BBC's contract was up.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Oh really okay, yeah, okay, because I was like, I
- 12:35Speaker 3: also don't really like I could see wb just being like, yeah,
- 12:41Speaker 3: just get rid of it, sell it to somebody else
- 12:42Speaker 3: and have it on some other streaming service and us
- 12:45Speaker 3: get some of the revenue for it.
- 12:46Speaker 4: We're all good. I can totally see them doing that.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it hasn't made an appearance on another streaming service
- 12:52Speaker 2: because my sister texted me was like, where is Doctor Who.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I have seen people that were like literally in the
- 13:00Speaker 3: middle of an episode where it like gave them the
- 13:03Speaker 3: spinning wheel of death in the middle of an episode.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah, because I don't think it was very publicized.
- 13:09Speaker 4: So not at all. But yeah, that is the news
- 13:13Speaker 4: for Matt Smith in Star Wars. Uh, now we move on.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Let's knock out the other one so that we have
- 13:21Speaker 2: in the chat before that's true.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Let me let me grab the rumors.
- 13:25Speaker 2: All right, y'all, we are gonna hit our first ad
- 13:27Speaker 2: break and we will be right back in three two one. So,
- 13:33Speaker 2: Lucasfilm has announced that it will have a year long
- 13:38Speaker 2: celebration of the original Star Wars in twenty twenty seven
- 13:41Speaker 2: to celebrate fifty years of Star Wars. We have talked
- 13:44Speaker 2: about this, fifty years is coming.
- 13:47Speaker 3: We know.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Tom for Random House World has said, oh crap, we
- 13:52Speaker 2: did forty years with from a certain point of view,
- 13:55Speaker 2: Now what are we gonna do for fifty years?
- 13:58Speaker 4: So you got any predictions? What do you think? What
- 14:05Speaker 4: do you think is gonna happen? I don't know.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Book wise, we it's obvious. And this was part of
- 14:13Speaker 2: the announcement that the A New Hope n was going
- 14:18Speaker 2: back to theaters for the fifty Some people are saying
- 14:21Speaker 2: that the press release from Star Wars dot Com set
- 14:25Speaker 2: indicates that it's going to be the original versions.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I was literally just about to ask you, what do
- 14:32Speaker 3: you think it is?
- 14:33Speaker 2: I I don't know, because I could, Like George Lucas
- 14:38Speaker 2: was very clear he never wanted but he sold his rights.
- 14:42Speaker 2: But if all these crazy fanboys out in the galaxy
- 14:45Speaker 2: want to pay attention to George Lucas's word above everything else,
- 14:49Speaker 2: George Lucas never wanted the original versions to see the
- 14:52Speaker 2: light of day after he made the special editions.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, that's true. That is very no.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I could see both ways. I don't have a prediction.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I am okay with watching either because yes, I will
- 15:07Speaker 3: be going back to the movie theater, just like I
- 15:09Speaker 3: did with Revenge of the Sith, I will be going back.
- 15:13Speaker 4: To go see A New Hope because.
- 15:15Speaker 3: A New Hope is the only Star Wars movie I
- 15:20Speaker 3: have seen Impire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
- 15:25Speaker 3: both in theaters. Really small towns had nothing else to
- 15:29Speaker 3: view over the weekends and so they just literally put
- 15:31Speaker 3: them on their theater in the theater. A New Hope
- 15:36Speaker 3: is literally the only movie that I have not seen
- 15:40Speaker 3: Star Wars wise in a theater.
- 15:43Speaker 4: So I think that would be very very fun to do.
- 15:47Speaker 4: But yeah, for.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Me, I will go ahead and predict. I will predict
- 15:56Speaker 3: a video game announcement for the fifth fieth, not a release.
- 16:02Speaker 3: I'm not saying a video game will release on the
- 16:05Speaker 3: fifth anniversary. I will say that a video game will
- 16:09Speaker 3: be released or sorry, a video game will be announced,
- 16:11Speaker 3: whether that be the third installment of the uh uh yeah,
- 16:24Speaker 3: the Fallen Order? Is it Fallen Order?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Fallen Order Survivor.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Yeah, Following Order Survivor with calkestis.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe maybe that gets announced or maybe something entirely different.
- 16:49Speaker 4: And possibly even updates, you know.
- 16:53Speaker 3: But we also have to remember next year is the
- 16:56Speaker 3: fiftieth anniversary. The very next year is Star Wars Celebration.
- 17:02Speaker 2: So not next year is the fiftieth anniversary. It's twenty
- 17:05Speaker 2: twenty seven, so this is two years.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Oh it is okay, Sorry, yeah, I thought it was
- 17:10Speaker 3: next year, so it is the exact same year then.
- 17:15Speaker 4: So yeah, I think you can literally predict.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Anything and it could possibly come true, because not only
- 17:25Speaker 3: are they gonna have the entire year to announce this stuff,
- 17:27Speaker 3: but they solely have Star Wars Celebration as well.
- 17:31Speaker 4: I'm going to say that we do I want to
- 17:39Speaker 4: go bold? Do I want to go bold? Here? The
- 17:42Speaker 4: last time I went bold with celebration predictions. I got
- 17:48Speaker 4: it right. So am I gonna be two for two?
- 17:51Speaker 3: Hm?
- 17:53Speaker 2: Uh?
- 17:55Speaker 4: Is there a possibility?
- 17:59Speaker 3: Because we got a little crumbs of it?
- 18:04Speaker 4: Do we finally see either an origin or the early
- 18:14Speaker 4: days of Yoda? Are they ready to say it? Are
- 18:17Speaker 4: they ready to give us that story?
- 18:20Speaker 3: We got an inkling of it in the Mace Window
- 18:23Speaker 3: comment or in the Mace Window Book.
- 18:27Speaker 4: Do you think that we are ready for it?
- 18:29Speaker 3: On the fiftieth anniversary of Star Wars.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Here's what I think is going to happen. I think
- 18:40Speaker 2: the Mandin Grogu movie is going to end on a cliffhanger.
- 18:45Speaker 2: This has been something that I've thought about for a while. Okay,
- 18:48Speaker 2: I'm thinking Mandoin Grogu is going to end on a cliffhanger,
- 18:51Speaker 2: and there's going to be another Yoda species and they're
- 18:58Speaker 2: going to be like Grogu, I finally found you because
- 19:03Speaker 2: it's a.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Clichi No, no, okay, no, no, I don't like it.
- 19:07Speaker 4: I don't like it. I don't like it.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I really think that's what's gonna happen. It's gonna go
- 19:12Speaker 2: back to Hey, Dan Jarn wants to return Grogu to
- 19:18Speaker 2: his people and we got sidetracked because of the Jedi,
- 19:25Speaker 2: but we know yoda species is long lived. Who's to
- 19:30Speaker 2: say that his parents can't still be around.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I don't like it. I don't like it. I don't
- 19:39Speaker 4: like it.
- 19:39Speaker 2: So that would lead you. It would be because they've
- 19:43Speaker 2: talked about mantoin Grogu being a trilogy and reigniting the
- 19:47Speaker 2: Star Wars passion. You have a trilogy where you find
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yoda's homeworld.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, Like, like, I like the possibility,
- 20:01Speaker 5: but I don't like the execution, you know, like, and I'm.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Not saying that's going to be the execution.
- 20:10Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, I get it, I get it, But like,
- 20:13Speaker 3: could you imagine like literally just dinjar It and Grogu
- 20:18Speaker 3: just walking in some town and then you just hear
- 20:21Speaker 3: a voice say, Groogu, I finally found you, and the
- 20:24Speaker 3: camera freaking turns and it's.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Who you think is Yoda or somebody, and you're just
- 20:29Speaker 4: like what the fuck? Like, oh no, Well, and.
- 20:34Speaker 2: It's gonna be like Rebels where the second movie they
- 20:37Speaker 2: go on the journey to find the planet and like,
- 20:42Speaker 2: but then they don't end up finding it until the
- 20:45Speaker 2: third movie, and so the final scene of the third
- 20:47Speaker 2: movie is dingjar and leaving Grogu behind, and then you
- 20:51Speaker 2: skip a bit and everything, and he finally gets on
- 20:53Speaker 2: a ship and he's like, well, I guess it's just
- 20:56Speaker 2: you and me again. And then he goes take off
- 20:59Speaker 2: and you see grow pop out of the little droid
- 21:02Speaker 2: cabana thing in the Naboo Starfighter and he's like, you're
- 21:06Speaker 2: not going anywhere without me, daddy.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Oh no, oh, no, okay, I don't want to talk
- 21:15Speaker 3: about this anymore.
- 21:16Speaker 4: I don't like it. I don't like it.
- 21:21Speaker 2: On that note, the next part of our news guys, So,
- 21:26Speaker 2: the the William Shakespeare retellings of the Star Wars movies
- 21:34Speaker 2: are famous, infamous. I've never read one.
- 21:38Speaker 3: I honestly, every single time I passed them in the
- 21:44Speaker 3: island at Barnes and Noble, yeah, I always really consider it.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I'm like, do I need to waste my money on this?
- 21:53Speaker 3: Because honestly, I love Star Wars, but I truly feel
- 21:57Speaker 3: like this would be a waste of money.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And that's why I've never picked it up either, because
- 22:03Speaker 2: I always had I've always had issues with old English
- 22:08Speaker 2: and like poetry, I is the name of the game
- 22:11Speaker 2: for Shakespeare.
- 22:12Speaker 4: You know what, you make this into an audiobook? Boom.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Not only would I buy the audiobook, I would buy
- 22:19Speaker 3: the actual physical book to follow along with it. Do it, Lucasfilm,
- 22:24Speaker 3: do it? Random House World? Whoever actually published this? Who
- 22:26Speaker 3: published these?
- 22:28Speaker 2: I don't think it's Random House World who published these.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Let's see, because I think it's on here William Shakespeare showers. Yep, here,
- 22:41Speaker 2: it is William Shakespeare's Star Wars. Uh three hours and
- 22:47Speaker 2: twenty nine minutes, William Shakespeare's The Jedi Docts Return.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Wait? Is there actual audiobooks of this?
- 22:57Speaker 2: Yep? On audible? There?
- 23:00Speaker 4: Do you know what that means? That means that are
- 23:02Speaker 4: on libby.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I'm I'm literally going to look this up right now.
- 23:10Speaker 2: And it says unabridged, so damn it. What?
- 23:16Speaker 4: Oh wait, it is unabridged. Okay, it is. I'm forgetting
- 23:18Speaker 4: that the abridged ones are the shorter ones. That's right,
- 23:22Speaker 4: That's right, all right, William Shakespeare's Star Wars literally right here.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Okay, Oh damn it, it's only the book. It's not
- 23:35Speaker 3: the it's the audible, damn it. Okay, that means that
- 23:40Speaker 3: I'm actually gonna have to you know, get some money
- 23:43Speaker 3: out of this, and and and and buy it.
- 23:45Speaker 4: I can check also check if it's on leebro dot FM.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, like I I actually really like this
- 23:53Speaker 3: for the Mando verse because.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I I love a gimmick.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I absolutely love a gimmick such as speaking of Matt Smith,
- 24:06Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure Matt Smith was also in the movie
- 24:10Speaker 3: that was like Shakespeare in Zombies.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Or something like that.
- 24:16Speaker 3: There's something along the lines of like was it Shakespeare
- 24:20Speaker 3: in Zombies or Jane Austen in Zombies?
- 24:22Speaker 2: There was something I could see Jane Austen.
- 24:26Speaker 4: There was something like that.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Okay, we're just gonna look for Matt Smith. God, I
- 24:33Speaker 2: love the long hair like look on him. Not the
- 24:37Speaker 2: doctor who long hair looked, but like the.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Pride and prejudice in Zombies. Yes, he was in that movie.
- 24:47Speaker 3: I like the idea of pride and prejudice in zombies
- 24:51Speaker 3: sounds really really stupid, but I bet you what do
- 24:54Speaker 3: you think I would get a really good laugh out
- 24:57Speaker 3: of that movie, which you can literally watch it on Hulu.
- 25:03Speaker 4: And or Disney Plus.
- 25:04Speaker 2: By the way, Okay, so.
- 25:08Speaker 4: If anybody is curious, I have.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Ever seen it. I've read the book, so.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I just think that things like this because
- 25:19Speaker 3: there there is something for everybody, right, Yes, there's this
- 25:24Speaker 3: idea that if somebody likes a certain medium, the only
- 25:30Speaker 3: way they would be able to touch Star Wars. Like we've
- 25:32Speaker 3: talked about this in visions. We've talked about this literally envisions.
- 25:37Speaker 3: The only way that some anime fans are actually watching
- 25:41Speaker 3: Star Wars content is through visions. And so the only
- 25:47Speaker 3: way some you know, hardcore Shakespearean nerd is reading Star
- 25:55Speaker 3: Wars is through these novels. And I'm for it, Like,
- 26:01Speaker 3: I think it's really cool.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't mind this at all. What's over.
- 26:06Speaker 2: I just know it's not for me. Ye, So, and
- 26:09Speaker 2: I think that's okay. In the long, in the grand
- 26:13Speaker 2: scheme of things, I buy enough Star Wars to keep
- 26:16Speaker 2: Star Wars and business exactly. We're gonna go into our
- 26:20Speaker 2: second ad break and we'll be right back, all right.
- 26:25Speaker 2: So the last bit of news that we had, so
- 26:28Speaker 2: Manny Jacinto is doing interviews for his upcoming movie Freakier Friday,
- 26:35Speaker 2: which comes out this week, and so he got asked
- 26:40Speaker 2: about returning as Kimer. He said, I would love to
- 26:43Speaker 2: run it back. I love that character that franchised that team.
- 26:47Speaker 2: If the fans want it, I'm down and ready to go.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Not really news he said this a bunch, but because
- 26:53Speaker 2: it's the Accolyte, I just we had to share this.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Yeah, And honestly, I think that.
- 27:01Speaker 3: With conversations surrounding even like Fantastic Four, learning that there
- 27:08Speaker 3: has been so much cut people like some of the
- 27:11Speaker 3: very first comments about Fantastic Four having a longer cut
- 27:16Speaker 3: was like, Zack Snyder fans.
- 27:18Speaker 4: How do we get this to happen? Blah blah blah.
- 27:20Speaker 4: And it's just like there was a huge, huge following
- 27:25Speaker 4: for of course Accolyte season two.
- 27:29Speaker 3: And I will now that Zack Snyder's Justice League literally exists,
- 27:36Speaker 3: I cannot say, well, I can rightfully, so I don't
- 27:43Speaker 3: think I can fairly say.
- 27:49Speaker 4: No, like this isn't gonna happen. Never say never.
- 27:52Speaker 3: We've seen a pipe dream literally happen, so anything can happen,
- 28:01Speaker 3: And especially like in the world, in a universe, in
- 28:06Speaker 3: a galaxy so immersed in other pieces of media like
- 28:12Speaker 3: Star Wars, We've already gotten two novels in.
- 28:17Speaker 4: The somewhat timespan window of The Acolyte.
- 28:21Speaker 2: MHM.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Who's to say that we cannot get season two.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Of the Acolyte in some way, shape or form that
- 28:31Speaker 3: isn't the live action series.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Correct corect Yeah, and now I hate to backtrack this,
- 28:39Speaker 2: but I was looking for the Daniel RpK Report, and
- 28:44Speaker 2: so I went on Star Wars news Net and I
- 28:46Speaker 2: found some additional details from the one and only Jeff Snyder.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Lovely the potential of Matt Smith's character, he said, and
- 28:57Speaker 2: this is so cheesy, but like, I can't blame him
- 28:59Speaker 2: for this. I'm told that the force won't be with Smith,
- 29:03Speaker 2: who is playing some kind of military general in the film,
- 29:07Speaker 2: which takes place five years after the events of Star
- 29:10Speaker 2: Wars Episode nine, to the rest of Skywalker. He confirms
- 29:15Speaker 2: that na Goth will also be playing the villain, a
- 29:19Speaker 2: villain in this chasing after a teenage character who will
- 29:22Speaker 2: be protected by the film's protagonist, played by Ryan Gosling.
- 29:28Speaker 4: So I mean even so, like I even said it myself.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Political through area not a bad thing.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, I still think that Matt Smith is going
- 29:42Speaker 3: to eat up that. Guys look at me as long
- 29:48Speaker 3: as its character and he ate up that and that
- 29:52Speaker 3: was horrible he did.
- 29:55Speaker 2: But I don't I needed to clarify this too. I
- 29:58Speaker 2: don't want that type of villain. He ate up the role,
- 30:01Speaker 2: but it was poorly written, so it was poorly.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Now if it is correctly written well correct, I think
- 30:13Speaker 3: he could eat up the scene.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Yes, and I have a little more faith with the
- 30:17Speaker 2: writing of Sean Levy than I did with Morbius exactly.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Yeah but uh.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Going back to that list of potential rumors from the
- 30:30Speaker 3: rb K, it says here plans for the Post's episode
- 30:35Speaker 3: nine era or eight era or yeah sorry, nine era.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Have reportedly been revealed. It will be similar to the
- 30:43Speaker 4: Mando verse.
- 30:44Speaker 3: With multiple stories. The first story will be Daisy Ridley's
- 30:49Speaker 3: new Jedi Order.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Which is interesting because Starfighter is shooting first and it's
- 30:54Speaker 2: in the same time frame.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but again, people always separate numerical movies from Star
- 31:07Speaker 3: Wars stories.
- 31:08Speaker 4: A Star Wars story exactly.
- 31:11Speaker 3: And then the third bullet point on this is it
- 31:13Speaker 3: will build toward a culmination or culminating event that will
- 31:20Speaker 3: bring back old characters.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Now, which is interesting, I feel like because I feel
- 31:28Speaker 2: like they're doing the same thing with mandovers, so they're saying, Okay,
- 31:31Speaker 2: Nando work ish mm hmm, we can discuss that.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Loop, so.
- 31:42Speaker 2: It'll work with Post episode nine stuff and basically going, Okay,
- 31:46Speaker 2: let's do the same exact thing. I don't necessarily mind
- 31:51Speaker 2: this take.
- 31:52Speaker 4: I don't mind it either. But the only worry that
- 31:56Speaker 4: I have the old characters. No, no, no, it's the fact.
- 32:01Speaker 3: It's the fact that Disney, especially with Star Wars, is
- 32:08Speaker 3: always trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice. Always
- 32:17Speaker 3: they're like, oh, that's perfect, Let's do it again. Oh
- 32:22Speaker 3: that's not perfect. Let's try it again for the first attempt. Okay,
- 32:26Speaker 3: that's not good. Let's try it again. But this time
- 32:28Speaker 3: it's gonna be the third attempt. But we're still trying
- 32:30Speaker 3: to replicate that first attempt. Okay, that one was good,
- 32:33Speaker 3: but it could be better. Let's try to do it again.
- 32:36Speaker 3: And it's just like, guys, like, there is different ways
- 32:44Speaker 3: to tell a story. You don't have to stay on
- 32:47Speaker 3: this track of what you think success is for Star
- 32:50Speaker 3: Wars yep. And that can be a big worry within
- 32:57Speaker 3: itself because if that first movie doesn't do well, I
- 33:03Speaker 3: know for a fact, Disney and Lucasfilm are gonna say, oh,
- 33:07Speaker 3: that didn't work, throw it all away.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Yep. And it's especially sad when you look because like
- 33:15Speaker 2: even fantastic for right now, like you and Okay, this
- 33:20Speaker 2: is gonna jump all over the place. But I saw
- 33:21Speaker 2: a video about Resident Evil the other day, and I've
- 33:24Speaker 2: never seen the Resident Evil stuff. So I went on
- 33:26Speaker 2: a rabbit hole down Resident Evil because I thought it
- 33:28Speaker 2: looked interesting, and I was like, Okay, Resident Evil got
- 33:33Speaker 2: six movies with horrible, like not even close to similar results,
- 33:40Speaker 2: better budgets, But in today's society, that would have gotten canceled.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Second movie.
- 33:48Speaker 3: What the thing with Resident Evil was it had big
- 33:55Speaker 3: names at the time. Let's just go ahead and say
- 33:59Speaker 3: that again, big names for the time, and in that
- 34:04Speaker 3: pocket of the six movies there was this huge craze
- 34:11Speaker 3: for vampires, wear woes and zombies mm hm. And so
- 34:16Speaker 3: that's what was That's what Resident Evil was able to
- 34:19Speaker 3: ride the way for for those six films.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Yep.
- 34:22Speaker 3: And essentially Resident Evil had the almost same effect as
- 34:28Speaker 3: like Fast and Furious does, which I absolutely hate.
- 34:32Speaker 4: It's the turn your brain off type of movie. Yeah,
- 34:36Speaker 4: people are just like, ooh, this is fun.
- 34:38Speaker 3: And just like throw their money away at But yeah,
- 34:44Speaker 3: if that was made today, it would get canceled. Which
- 34:48Speaker 3: is literally why every Resident Evil project since then has
- 34:55Speaker 3: been canceled after either the first movie and or the
- 34:57Speaker 3: first movie because they don't do great Now, yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 4: It's it's just the way it is.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah, So I just it. It definitely sucks, and I
- 35:12Speaker 2: wish that they would go, okay, like, let's be willing
- 35:15Speaker 2: to experiment, because the whole thing with Fantastic Four is like,
- 35:20Speaker 2: Fantastic Four was a decent movie and to most people
- 35:26Speaker 2: that would have gone, Okay, let's see where this goes.
- 35:28Speaker 2: But with how harsh today's movie climate is, like, it
- 35:34Speaker 2: just gets cut off at the wayside, which is where
- 35:36Speaker 2: I think studios really should reconsider the TV initiatives that
- 35:42Speaker 2: were going strong for four years. Because Matt and I
- 35:45Speaker 2: spent two hundred dollars to go to Superman between the
- 35:50Speaker 2: tickets and the babysitter, and we went separately to Fantastic
- 35:54Speaker 2: Four and that still cost us fifty bucks, Like yeah,
- 35:59Speaker 2: so that's not something that like most families nowadays, especially
- 36:05Speaker 2: with inflation, can handle, and so integrating, Okay, we could
- 36:10Speaker 2: have a climactic movie, but recognizing, hey, movie theaters are
- 36:16Speaker 2: not going to bring you in the money that it
- 36:17Speaker 2: used to. Like if Matt and I could go back
- 36:21Speaker 2: to Regal unlimited we probably would, but that still doesn't
- 36:26Speaker 2: save us the babysitter cost every movie. So more like
- 36:32Speaker 2: more than likely Matt and I are going to go
- 36:34Speaker 2: back to Okay, we're waiting till things come to streaming,
- 36:37Speaker 2: or we can rent it at our own pace kind
- 36:39Speaker 2: of thing. And I think that's what most families are
- 36:41Speaker 2: sticking with, and studios are going to recognize that four
- 36:45Speaker 2: years from now and go, Okay, what do we do
- 36:49Speaker 2: better now?
- 36:50Speaker 3: And it's well, especially like the well, I'm not entirely sure, Katie,
- 36:54Speaker 3: because isn't.
- 36:55Speaker 4: There well, no, no, just for the fact that isn't.
- 36:57Speaker 3: There still like heavy reports that like there are some
- 37:02Speaker 3: streaming services that are now interested in buying like theater
- 37:06Speaker 3: chains and stuff like that. Maybe I can't remember that.
- 37:12Speaker 3: I think that's a while. I need to look and
- 37:16Speaker 3: see again. It was either streaming services or studios that
- 37:23Speaker 3: were looking to build their own theaters, and I'm like,
- 37:26Speaker 3: I don't know if that's like going to solve the problem.
- 37:31Speaker 4: But it's also.
- 37:34Speaker 3: You know, making us learn that studios aren't learning their lesson,
- 37:39Speaker 3: which is.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Why I said they're going to learn four years from
- 37:41Speaker 2: now that this isn't working instead of hey, let's look
- 37:45Speaker 2: at what's happening right now. Yeah, because right now all
- 37:49Speaker 2: fantastic foward to them is is tax recovery and money
- 37:52Speaker 2: Like they're just going to take all that loss and
- 37:54Speaker 2: put it into the taxes.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, very true.
- 37:59Speaker 2: And we're to jump into our third ad, y'all. We promise,
- 38:04Speaker 2: we'll be right back. We promise.
- 38:06Speaker 3: And to go back to your first comment when I
- 38:08Speaker 3: when I said that, I, you know, was a little
- 38:11Speaker 3: worried about this. You mentioned the old characters, and I
- 38:16Speaker 3: think it was Chris in the g uh chat that
- 38:18Speaker 3: made this joke.
- 38:19Speaker 4: He was like, oh yeah, old characters with AI.
- 38:25Speaker 3: I am a little worried, very little, because again I
- 38:32Speaker 3: did say in the Gua Geek first Crossover that with
- 38:38Speaker 3: the recasting that they did for and or for Bail Organa,
- 38:45Speaker 3: that opens the door for Lucasfilm and Star Wars to say, hey,
- 38:49Speaker 3: we're okay with recasting.
- 38:51Speaker 4: Yep, at least I hope so.
- 38:57Speaker 3: And that's why I hope, like, hey, if all of
- 39:00Speaker 3: these people decide not to jump on board with this,
- 39:03Speaker 3: that they can just be like, Okay, we will get
- 39:06Speaker 3: somebody new and they'll be your character, you know, because hell,
- 39:11Speaker 3: even Kevin Feigey came out and said, hey, you know,
- 39:17Speaker 3: rebooting is a very scary word, but you know, eventually
- 39:22Speaker 3: we have to bring back some of these characters because
- 39:24Speaker 3: that's just how Marvel Comics is. And so we will
- 39:28Speaker 3: assume that these characters will be recast because Chris Evans,
- 39:33Speaker 3: Robert Jenny Junior, all of these other actors are not
- 39:36Speaker 3: going to be able to play these characters forever.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think the difference here, and it's something
- 39:44Speaker 2: that we go back to with Star Wars a lot,
- 39:46Speaker 2: is it's a timeline. This is not Star Wars has
- 39:50Speaker 2: not been retold dozens of times from in the same
- 39:55Speaker 2: area like Marvel has. Marvel goes back and says, okay,
- 40:00Speaker 2: like time travel, Whibley Wobsley.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Yeah, this is status quo or whatever. Yeah.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Star Wars has not proven that that's a concept yet.
- 40:10Speaker 2: And you could say, oh, well, they've done World between
- 40:13Speaker 2: Worlds like that is a concept. I don't know if
- 40:16Speaker 2: they would take it to that extreme though, because even
- 40:21Speaker 2: Dave Filoni, when Ezra and Ahsoka were in the World
- 40:25Speaker 2: between Worlds, Dave Filoni's stuck by, Hey, you can't pull
- 40:30Speaker 2: Cannon out of this because otherwise stuff hits the fan like, yeah,
- 40:38Speaker 2: so at least we know that Dave Filoni has set
- 40:42Speaker 2: that precedent, but he has also proven that his precedence,
- 40:47Speaker 2: he learns and improves. So I don't really know what's
- 40:53Speaker 2: going to happen. I would hope the old characters that
- 40:57Speaker 2: they're talking about are sequel trilogy care that are still alive.
- 41:01Speaker 4: That's what I assumed.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Also, by the way, guys, I assumed that if they
- 41:06Speaker 3: were in Rise of Skywalker mm hmm, then they will
- 41:13Speaker 3: be a part of.
- 41:14Speaker 4: This new trilogy.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, I don't think of anybody outside of Rise
- 41:21Speaker 3: of Skywalker mm hm, honestly, and.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I think a lot of people when you say old
- 41:27Speaker 2: characters though, that says, oh, we can pull anybody.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Han Luke Skywalker, you know all these Yeah, I understand
- 41:34Speaker 3: that with that though, like I I, I do hope
- 41:42Speaker 3: truly that they have learned their lesson.
- 41:48Speaker 4: With the AI thing. I know that, you know, technically,
- 41:55Speaker 4: I don't know if it was Disney or Lucasfilm.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Separately, but of course you know, James Earl Jones signed
- 42:03Speaker 3: off on the AI version of his voice.
- 42:06Speaker 4: Mm hmm, so they can continue to.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Use that for Darth Vader in any and all separate projects,
- 42:15Speaker 3: but like, outside of that, like I truly hope, like, hey,
- 42:19Speaker 3: let's just move on from these characters that are too
- 42:23Speaker 3: old to play the roles that you wish to just
- 42:26Speaker 3: keep in a very timeless situation when that's not possible.
- 42:32Speaker 3: But yeah, that's that's all I gotta say about that.
- 42:37Speaker 3: You got anything else, Katie, I do not.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna step away for a quick second and I
- 42:43Speaker 2: come back. We'll talk about a Crystal Crown. Yeah, all right,
- 42:47Speaker 2: and this should be our final ad break. So y'all,
- 42:52Speaker 2: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 42:54Speaker 2: right back. But Clay, are you ready to talk about
- 43:00Speaker 2: Tessa Gratton's newest Star Wars book?
- 43:05Speaker 4: I am ready.
- 43:09Speaker 2: So The Crystal Crown Guys is a book by Tessa Gratton.
- 43:15Speaker 2: It released last Tuesday, so the twenty ninth of July
- 43:20Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, and Tessa Gratten, we interviewed about this book,
- 43:26Speaker 2: said that she took a lot of inspiration from Hunger
- 43:29Speaker 2: Games and wanted to try and bring that into Star Wars.
- 43:34Speaker 2: And I would say she killed it.
- 43:38Speaker 4: It's funny that you say that because I have never.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Read any interviews with any of these writers. As I
- 43:48Speaker 3: was literally reading this, I sent you a text and
- 43:55Speaker 3: I said, Wow, this is very Master and Apprentice, which
- 44:02Speaker 3: also had a ceremonial like event happened that was similar
- 44:12Speaker 3: to this. And then as I was reading like into
- 44:18Speaker 3: like the mid chapters, you know, fifteen to twenty eight,
- 44:25Speaker 3: I said to myself, Wow, now this is really starting
- 44:28Speaker 3: to feel like Hunger Games type stuff. So I'm glad
- 44:34Speaker 3: that what she inevitably wanted the feeling to be was
- 44:39Speaker 3: something that I literally felt. Yeah, so I think she
- 44:44Speaker 3: did nail it. I think it was just a perfect
- 44:48Speaker 3: way or perfect style of writing, especially for the two
- 44:53Speaker 3: characters that she wrote in here.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and this book on the cover has uh Jackie
- 45:02Speaker 2: and Yord. And realistically though, I would say this book
- 45:06Speaker 2: is about.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Jackie, yes, in our actual like talk about this, yeah.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and Ord still has his moments and he's like
- 45:16Speaker 2: the secondary side character. Like, so we have Jackie Yrd
- 45:21Speaker 2: and then all of your other side characters involved and whatnot.
- 45:28Speaker 2: And I don't mind that because I feel like in
- 45:32Speaker 2: The Acolyte, Jackie showed the most promise with her future
- 45:39Speaker 2: and so getting we still get to know about both
- 45:42Speaker 2: of them. But I liked. I liked getting more Jackie.
- 45:47Speaker 3: In this mm hmm, I I liked it as well.
- 45:54Speaker 3: There was moments here and I think I didn't put
- 45:59Speaker 3: a whole lot of No.
- 46:01Speaker 2: I didn't either. I only had time to read it once.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Uh same here, but I did have some notes here.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Let me see if I can actually find those notes.
- 46:13Speaker 2: By the way, So in this, guys, there's basically like
- 46:19Speaker 2: three we come to this planet because there has been
- 46:24Speaker 2: issues with negotiations the planet. I can't I can't remember
- 46:28Speaker 2: the planet's name for the life of me.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Oh yeah, let me grab that also.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Okay, So the planet produces a material that's necessary for
- 46:39Speaker 2: hyperspace travel, and so they want to join the Republic,
- 46:44Speaker 2: and so the Republic has sent Jedi and political ambassadors
- 46:49Speaker 2: to this planet to try and negotiate the terms for
- 46:53Speaker 2: Senate representation. YadA, YadA, YadA. And so the Jedi, the
- 46:59Speaker 2: previous representation to screwed up and he's stuck by the
- 47:04Speaker 2: Jedi way of hey, we don't fight unless we absolutely
- 47:07Speaker 2: have to. This planet is very much a combated to
- 47:12Speaker 2: not combative, but like they want you to show strength.
- 47:17Speaker 2: And this dual the Jedi was challenged was not to
- 47:20Speaker 2: the death, but it was against his standpoints, and so
- 47:24Speaker 2: the culture and the people were highly offended when this
- 47:27Speaker 2: Jedi declined to fight the council member.
- 47:31Speaker 3: I am seeing I am seeing the alien race, but
- 47:36Speaker 3: I'm not seeing the planet.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Okay, say the race.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Uh Saline Celeni. Oh my gosh, I can't even pronounce it.
- 47:47Speaker 3: I don't even know how I was saying it in
- 47:49Speaker 3: my head when I was reading this. It's like s
- 47:53Speaker 3: I L e in, It's like knees.
- 47:56Speaker 2: But Selene. Let's just say Selene.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Oh yeah, So somebody says here when I die here
- 48:05Speaker 3: on Saline, s I l I n e Saline.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Okay, we could go with Saline. The audiobook is not
- 48:13Speaker 2: out yet, guys. It is not the end of October.
- 48:16Speaker 4: So mad.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I have I have voiced my frustrations with Katie earlier
- 48:22Speaker 3: last week about this. Uh, it is ridiculous, but it
- 48:28Speaker 3: is what it is.
- 48:29Speaker 2: It is what it is, So what excuse us if
- 48:33Speaker 2: we mispronounced something because we don't know, we have no idea.
- 48:37Speaker 2: So the Saline are basically a very warrior esque culture,
- 48:42Speaker 2: and as time has progressed, they go, Okay, we don't
- 48:45Speaker 2: want to kill everybody, because that's just then going to
- 48:49Speaker 2: terrace apart. So they have changed rituals so that it
- 48:54Speaker 2: still shows strong the strong. It showcases the strong and
- 49:00Speaker 2: sets them up for success in the culture by becoming
- 49:04Speaker 2: future members of the Council, et cetera. And so there's
- 49:11Speaker 2: three trials, So we have the trial of strength, the
- 49:15Speaker 2: Trial of survival in then the trial of the hunting basically,
- 49:23Speaker 2: and so d Yord and Jackie I was compating their
- 49:28Speaker 2: names get invited to participate as basically a way of
- 49:34Speaker 2: winning back the faith of these people. Yes, and that's
- 49:40Speaker 2: really all plot wise.
- 49:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it was. I will say this, I
- 49:50Speaker 4: adored this book. The beginning took a little bit to
- 49:58Speaker 4: really kind of catched me. It was a bit a
- 50:03Speaker 4: little bit on the slow side.
- 50:06Speaker 3: But once things started to really ramp up, once we
- 50:10Speaker 3: got to really meet our other three characters that our
- 50:17Speaker 3: heroes kind of surround themselves with.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Ye, and there are other.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Soliinese people, yeah, Selions is basically yeah, And I really
- 50:31Speaker 3: dug the way that we learned about the evolution of
- 50:37Speaker 3: these people and planet, because when we read any and
- 50:43Speaker 3: all other Star Wars books, it is always, hey, this
- 50:47Speaker 3: is what the planet is, and these are how the
- 50:50Speaker 3: planet and these how are the how the people are?
- 50:54Speaker 3: We never sit down and learn about the different species
- 51:03Speaker 3: in Star Wars, Yep, we got a history and that
- 51:09Speaker 3: was fun. I love this because also, guys, remember what
- 51:16Speaker 3: part of the timeline we were in, because there is
- 51:20Speaker 3: something like near closer, like I want to say, like
- 51:25Speaker 3: literally right at the beginning of the third act, like
- 51:29Speaker 3: right before the third act, at the tail end of
- 51:32Speaker 3: act two, there is a review.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Yes, the blight shows up, and.
- 51:42Speaker 2: It's not the consequences, it's.
- 51:44Speaker 4: The remnants of the blight.
- 51:46Speaker 3: It is what I what I absolutely love is we know,
- 51:54Speaker 3: because we've read Trouser of the Jedi, how that is
- 51:57Speaker 3: being dealt with, how that is correcting itself within the universe.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Now knowing that this book takes place one hundred years
- 52:09Speaker 3: after Trials of the Jedi.
- 52:11Speaker 4: Yep.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Because they even said it, oh, you know, this is
- 52:15Speaker 3: what happened to this planet one hundred years ago. They
- 52:19Speaker 3: say that knowing that and knowing the blight is still around, Yeah, they.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Tessa Gratton are like, she's very artistically showcases that, Hey,
- 52:35Speaker 2: we are seeing it heal and you can see new
- 52:39Speaker 2: growth populating on the edge. Like they call it the
- 52:43Speaker 2: badlands and so you can see that there's new growth
- 52:48Speaker 2: populating on the edges, and so it is healing.
- 52:51Speaker 4: But it like the oh.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Gosh, I can't remember the actual name of the Nameless.
- 52:58Speaker 2: I'm just gonna call them nameless if the name was
- 53:00Speaker 2: said on sofos Hey, this is going to take decades,
- 53:05Speaker 2: if not centuries to recover. Like there is no immediate
- 53:11Speaker 2: fix to this. Like, so seeing that is really kind
- 53:15Speaker 2: of cool.
- 53:16Speaker 4: It's the Shriek Ride by the way.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, duh, I knew that, but yeah, no.
- 53:23Speaker 4: I love that.
- 53:25Speaker 3: We kind of get like a of course a timeline,
- 53:29Speaker 3: but like we asked ourselves when we finished that book,
- 53:33Speaker 3: how long is this going to take? Like is it
- 53:35Speaker 3: a rapid thing? Is it not a rapid thing? Well,
- 53:38Speaker 3: we know that it's not around during this time of
- 53:40Speaker 3: the timeline, so like when is it finally finished and
- 53:43Speaker 3: stuff like that. So, like the crazy thing to think
- 53:47Speaker 3: about is the newer parts of Star Wars that we're watching,
- 53:53Speaker 3: which is allah the Mando Worse and it's going to
- 53:56Speaker 3: be the the sequels trilogy. They could still show us
- 54:09Speaker 3: parts of the galaxy that are not fully healed, and
- 54:13Speaker 3: it would just blow our minds.
- 54:17Speaker 4: And it would still make sense.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Because there is no actual verbiage of how long it'll
- 54:24Speaker 3: take yep, because of because we know Star Wars is
- 54:29Speaker 3: literally such a vast galaxy yeh, which I think is
- 54:33Speaker 3: really really fun and really really cool. One of my
- 54:37Speaker 3: notes is, uh Yrd has literally the funniest line in
- 54:47Speaker 3: this entire novel. We have a character here who is
- 54:55Speaker 3: like the most badass silent ease.
- 55:02Speaker 4: Her name is.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Uh Cia Cetia Satai. Uh let me actually grab that again.
- 55:13Speaker 4: Uh I both.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Have physical versions, which makes things.
- 55:17Speaker 4: Harder to t I A Setia.
- 55:21Speaker 2: All right, y'all, we are gonna hit our first ad
- 55:23Speaker 2: break and we will be right back in three two one.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Cetilla is the daughter of basically the person in charge
- 55:33Speaker 3: of this planet uh currently the all Voice as they
- 55:37Speaker 3: call them. But she is also the strongest warrior and
- 55:44Speaker 3: but she's very flirtatious with with Yord.
- 55:48Speaker 4: And first off, I want to I want to.
- 55:51Speaker 3: Say that this uh these people, uh, they are very
- 55:57Speaker 3: unique in the way that they're bodies are.
- 56:03Speaker 4: They are crystalline. They have yes, little crystals in their bones.
- 56:12Speaker 3: It's just the way they are as a race, and
- 56:19Speaker 3: so like they have these crystals in their teeth, they
- 56:22Speaker 3: have them around their eyes that have them protruding through
- 56:25Speaker 3: their heads like just everywhere. And she is like, she
- 56:32Speaker 3: has this like very flirtatious ness towards the RD every
- 56:38Speaker 3: single time she's around him.
- 56:40Speaker 4: And there's at one moment she gets like really close
- 56:44Speaker 4: up to him, kind of caresses his chin.
- 56:46Speaker 3: She's like, oh, I could kiss you, and he just says,
- 56:50Speaker 3: dead stop, please don't. He just like it's just straight.
- 56:55Speaker 3: The funny thing is is I can imagine that actor
- 56:59Speaker 3: in all of his awkwardness that he does seem like
- 57:02Speaker 3: in the ACTLTE and I could just see him just
- 57:04Speaker 3: dead face, please don't.
- 57:07Speaker 4: I thought that was so funny. I laughed so hard.
- 57:11Speaker 2: It was amazing. Still seeing her flirt with him after
- 57:15Speaker 2: it was hysterical.
- 57:18Speaker 3: And I think she does it on purpose because, like
- 57:20Speaker 3: he I said this in our review of the act,
- 57:25Speaker 3: like and I and I still hold true to that.
- 57:29Speaker 3: In a sense, Yord is like Anakin Skywalker adjacent.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Yep, he is very much that type of character.
- 57:43Speaker 3: But it's so funny to see somebody like an Anakin
- 57:46Speaker 3: Skywalker be so flirtatious with that of Patame, but then
- 57:52Speaker 3: seeing Yord as much as he is like a stickler
- 57:57Speaker 3: for the rules and wanting to be the best Jedi
- 58:01Speaker 3: he could be. And so like when there's this person
- 58:07Speaker 3: that is like trying to like tease him and like
- 58:12Speaker 3: egg him on on certain things, I thought that was
- 58:15Speaker 3: so fun. It was just something to kind of ease
- 58:19Speaker 3: the tension in so many situations that they were in
- 58:22Speaker 3: in this book.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and especially getting to see how Yord was like
- 58:29Speaker 2: still being like a stickler, how she played on like, oh,
- 58:32Speaker 2: he steams his robes. Like he's steaming his robes like
- 58:35Speaker 2: three or four times. That was everything.
- 58:39Speaker 3: He was so like he was kind of a germophobe.
- 58:43Speaker 3: I think he took like three or four baths in
- 58:47Speaker 3: this book.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Uh, the entire time.
- 58:51Speaker 3: And then like you see Jacky and you have to
- 58:54Speaker 3: remember these two individuals, Jord and Jackie. Uh, they're both
- 58:58Speaker 3: Padawans at this time when we first meet your in
- 59:01Speaker 3: the Acolyte, he is not a Padawan.
- 59:04Speaker 4: He is a Knight. We know that he is.
- 59:09Speaker 3: He is a further along padawan in this book, but
- 59:16Speaker 3: he is like wanting to take his trials to become
- 59:21Speaker 3: a Knight. And that's kind of like a small like
- 59:24Speaker 3: b plot or maybe even see your d plot in
- 59:27Speaker 3: this book. Whereas Jackie, she's kind of fresh, she's new,
- 59:31Speaker 3: she's learning a whole bunch of stuff, and she is
- 59:34Speaker 3: the type of character who.
- 59:36Speaker 4: Is very eager to learn.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Yeah, every little thing that she is introduced to on
- 59:45Speaker 3: this planet, she like meets it with a smile, and
- 59:48Speaker 3: she's very ant seen like giddy, and she's like, ooh,
- 59:50Speaker 3: something new, Okay, teach me, teach me, teach me. She's
- 59:53Speaker 3: always asking questions and things like that. I really adore Jackie,
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: of her so much I I would not mind another
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: story with Jackie.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Yes, the down side, I'll go ahead and tell you this.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: So I had to look this up because so this
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: book takes place in one thirty four. Bby the Acolyte
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: takes place in one thirty two. There's not a lot
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: of time.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: No, no, no, there's another Jackie story.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: And that was the thing, guys. So one thing I
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: also wanted to bring up. I think I actually have.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: I don't know if I have the exact page number.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: Uh oh yeah.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: It took one hundred and thirty pages until the very
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: first mention of Osha. Osha was mentioned in this book
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: on page one hundred and thirty so again, we're just
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: trying to take those little, you know, seedlings from the
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: actual source material. And then at the very end of
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: this book spoilers, Ord and Jackie are like, oh, yeah,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: let's do this when we're both Jedi knights, and I'm
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: just like, ah.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: And there was so many death jokes in here too,
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: like Tesla plays around with them, yeah and.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Like, and they both say it. It's like, oh, okay, ye, like,
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: we'll do this as long as it doesn't kill me. Okay,
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: we'll do this as long as it doesn't kill me.
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: And they both say it.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: A lot of dark humor uh in in that sense. So,
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: Tessa Gratton, I love you. We have the same mindset.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: We're good to go.
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: It was it was fun.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: Like it's a little you know, haha, play on words,
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: wink kind of thing, and I appreciate that kind of thing,
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: especially if, like, let's say, somebody who hasn't seen The
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Acolyte has decided, hey, I want to read some novels
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: in chronological order. Okay, let's read this book and then hey,
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: let's watch The Acolyte and be like, bro, what I
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: would love that for somebody.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: My gosh.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: So another note, that I have is oh, I already
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: said that this is very much Master and Apprentice coded.
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: I loved all of the combat.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Again talking about the evolution of these people learning that Okay,
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: well we aren't permitted to kill, but as long as
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: you bleed, you're out.
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: Like we're in with that, right.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: And one of the big things that we have not
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: mentioned in these in this thing called the Convocation, Ord
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: and Jackie were permitted not only to get on the
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: good graces of this planet for the Republic, but you know,
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: people were like, well, they're Jedi, they're paddle ones. That's
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: a little unfair if they if they are the ones
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: to be in this, and they're like, okay, we're gonna
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: take away your lightsabers and you can't use the force yep.
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: And that's a big deal for both of these characters.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I would say it's a bigger deal for Yord than
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: it is because he wants to play by the rules, right,
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: and so he's told this, but he struggles with it.
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: And and that's why I say both because there's a
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: moment where Yord is like this isn't fair, like well,
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: you know, technically, blah blah blah, and like there's like
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: almost this argumentative like internal thing.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: With Yord that's like, oh, well, you know, it's a natural.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Thing and blah blah blah blah, whereas with Jackie, she's
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: like cool. Like, to begin with, I will say this,
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: to begin with, Jeckie is on.
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: Board with everything.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: The only thing that they're both not cool with immediately
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: is the absence of the lightsaber.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Yeah, because and I think it was good for them
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: to not have this and go, Okay, what can I
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: do to solve it without it?
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: Well, I think personally, oh go ahead, go ahead.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: No, go ahead, Well, I think it was good to
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: not have it personally because there is a moment like
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: a really like it's one of those moments like for
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: those of you who have seen that of like Superman,
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: it is almost like the bridge scene where you get
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: all goosebumps and like, ah, so in this book, there's
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: a moment wh when a lightsaber is finally.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: Used and you're just like.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Like I got so excited, I got so pumped, and
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: I'll go ahead and like kind of tease it.
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: The moment is Jackie throws the lightsaber to yourd.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: And she's like, oh, I don't need it, and then
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: she starts using the Force, and that's what I'm more
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: like giddy and excited about, yeah, because it's like she
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: goes super Saiyan, like she she was holding all of
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: this in and she's like, this isn't even my final
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: form and she starts using it, and that was a
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: really big thing for her. Is like it her with
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: the way that she is as an individual, you see
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: her in the very beginning. Like that's because there's also
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: like I'm getting all of these other like pop culture
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: references into this book Far from Home, Spider Man, the
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: Peter Tingle when he's on the bridge and he's using
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: the Spider scenes for the very first time, like legitimately,
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: there's a moment like Jackie is using the Force like that,
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: and I'm just like, ah, this is so cool. But
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: in that scene where they're fighting this like crazy monster creature,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: she's like, screw it, Like I know that there's probably
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: cameras out here that are gonna see me using the
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Force right now, but in this instance, I have to
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: use it or we're all gonna die. And so she
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: throws the lightsaber to Yord and she just like lets
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: it all in. She starts to feel her surroundings to do.
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: Like, it was so cool. I absolutely love that scene.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: It was the best and Gotten did an incredible job
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: with that moment, especially, like it was one of my
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: favorite moments of the book. I'm sitting there like, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Like it's just so good. We have to talk about
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: the graph in this book.
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: He is a pretty vague part of they sorry, You're
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: one hundred percent correct. They are a very big part
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: of this story. And I love how they.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Call upon their like history with Jackie and like, because
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: everybody knows a graph, right, everybody.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Knows a graph.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: And they explained to Jackie it's like, oh, well, they
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: everybody knows a graph because of politics, because of lots
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: of money, because of all of this, because of murder.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: And she's like, oh, but you can't prove it or
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: can't and like that freaks her out even more. Like
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: I love that because it was a play on what
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: we've seen in the past, what we've seen in the future.
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: And also.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: It makes them a little bit less trustworthy immediately.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Yep, because you're sitting there thinking, Oh, if you've read
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: the higher public books, you're like, wait, but it's a graph.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: I know not to trust graphs, but like, why do
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: I like them so much?
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: Exactly?
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: I was?
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: I was so like because also, uh, I think their
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: actual name because in the entire book they refer to
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: themselves as Lio mm hmm, but I believe Master Soul
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: does say their name at the very end.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, I think it's like Lion nine, Yeah.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Yeah, lion nine. They rios ryos.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: How do you say gross? It's r h O s ros.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Okay, So Rose is the younger sibling of Sataria. Yes,
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: and Lyo and ros are like a thing?
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: Yes, now correct me if I'm wrong? Rose, Did I
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: read this incorrectly? Non binary?
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: I got confused because I Rose had he pronouns at
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: one point and then she pronounces at one point, but.
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: Jackie acknowledged it, like did you like?
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: There was there was a part where Jackie was like, actually,
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: both Jackie and Yrd kind of like grimaced, as in like, oh,
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: hold on, we thought, and they kind of brushed it aside.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: And then when Satari was like explaining something, Jackie had
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: like an internal thought of like, well, how does she
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: know how to present their sister?
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: Because at that point they were saying her.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: So like I kind of feel like it might have
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: been something like a non binary situation.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I could go either way. I'm definitely going to
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: have to reread, and I'm excited to get the audiobook
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: because I always get the pronouns a little bit better
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: when I have the audio book, because especially as a
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: scan reader, I like, I remember reading she and then
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: I remember reading he, and I'm.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: Like, wait, wait it is saggot.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Is that just my brain or is there a
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: connection here?
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: Yeah, there was definitely a situation where they acknowledged the switch.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: So I would also so like to listen to that
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: audiobook to get a better understanding of that. But ros
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: Leo and Jeckie are like the three best friends in
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: this book. Yeah, I love the way they interacted because
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: they met there, they all met each other with the
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: same energy, but also like when it was time to
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: like get down and serious, they were all ready to
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: be serious, which I also liked. I'm trying to think,
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: how did you feel about the Masters? Of course we
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: know Master's soul, but we also got introduced to your's
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: master else Elsie or.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: Hold On, hold On, hold On, hold on Elshie Elsie.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: I was like, I know there's an h in there somewhere.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Alishi s h Yeah, Alishi. I enjoyed both masters. Obviously
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: they're are secondary characters, but I like I Soul feels
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: like a continuation from the act, like he feels very standard.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: Alushi super interesting. I love how she plays off of
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Jord so much.
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: I really love that as well.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: It is basically like I truly can see there being
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: a situation where Yoda was like Master Alishi, mm hmm,
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: you should really considered your as your padawan, and like
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: She's like, well, I wasn't even thinking about that. Doesn't
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: the force you leave and like him kind of just
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: nudging Yord towards her because of how different they are.
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: Because I because.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: Like there's a moment where like Yord is kind of
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: in his like powdy phase of the book, and like
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: he meets Master and at lastian Master Soul, and like
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: she gives him a face as if to say like, hey,
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: don't be mad, or hey don't show that you're mad,
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: because she has known him so well.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: I really dug that I.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: Would I would also like to see probably like some
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: early years of them too, like in a short story
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: or something. I would like to see that meeting of
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: them but also I wanted to go back because I
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: you probably do want to talk about graph a little
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: bit more.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Lio.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: Lio was a very interesting character because they were a
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: graph they.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: Were born in Selene, and there is this like weird,
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: like almost racial.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Yeah context between them as a graph a humanoid.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: And the Selinese people.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and the Graphs are human, but Lio has taken
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: on some modifications to make themselves look more Selenese. Yes,
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: and so because they want that acceptance, and there is
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: some Selene that choose to accept them as Selene, but
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: then there's others very standard, especially in America, where they're
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: just like, no, you're a human, you don't belong here
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: kind of thing. And so loo hope is that, Hey,
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: the convocation is my chance to show that I love
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: my homeworld and like that I am truly a Selene.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: And so we won't reveal like the villain of the
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: story because there is like a climax scene at the end.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: When we get off, when we get off of this stream,
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: I have a question for you for the last part,
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: because there is there is some burbage that is said
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: that I was like, hold on a second, I just
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: read the last chapter. That's not what happened, so I want,
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: I want to know your thoughts on that, but we
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: we will say that.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: Off stream because we do want of course, we always
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: say this when we're reading these books.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: We will you know, talk spoilers, but we do want
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: to leave some of the juicier stuff in there for
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: you guys to read yourself and.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Enjoy, especially because this book just came out so and
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: I know, like most of the time we review books
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: and it's done beforehand before it ever releases, but like
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: especially now because we've only gotten the chance to read
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: it once. It's it's a magical book that has a
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: lot of cool moments, and Tessa Gratten does an incredible
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: job making sure you laugh at the right moments, but
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: then they're like ooh at the right moments as well. Yeah,
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Like I was so impressed with her first solo outing
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: in young adult territory for Star Wars.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that about this book because there is
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: a moment for every character.
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: That you kind of have that with. Of course, with
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: the you know kind.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: Of explanation that I gave you guys of Jackie wanting
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: to be that like very fun, very excited to learn
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: type of character, there is a lot of times where
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: she is really giddy and actually giggling because she's excited
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: to be there. But then like, one one small little
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: detail that I'm okay with sharing is the fact that like.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: be right back.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: They as a people are stuck in this forest jungle thing, right,
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: and so for who knows how long, and so the
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: only way they can survive is of course hunting and
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: or salvaging berries and fruits.
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: And all of these other things. And they had a
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: conversation with both Jackie and Jord about the idea of.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: Vegetarianism killing for survival, and they were kind of teasing
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: Yord and Jackie, but Yord was kind of more vocal
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: about it. He's like, I just I'm not for this,
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: Like I don't think you should need to kill in
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: order to survive. But like every single time they kind
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: of like looked at Jackie to like offer something, she
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: kind of just like gave this like sickening face like no,
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: I'm good, Like no, I'm okay, yeah.
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: Because Jackie. I think Jackie is like that explore, oh
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: my gosh, exploratory vegetarian who's like I want to know
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: the process, but I don't want to know everything, like
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: I don't want the experience. Like, so I liked that
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: that they showcased two different sides of the coin, and
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: I'm trying to think if there's anything else. This is
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: a very easy breed, but it didn't feel tropy, it
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: didn't feel simplified. It Tessa Gratten really nailed all of
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: the elements I feel like of a true young adult
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: story you see so much nowadays where there's young adult fantasy,
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: but then there's like sex scenes in it and stuff,
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: and then it's like, yeah, like this feels very young adults.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: There's a lot of the genres recently that I have
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: been seeing online and kind of reading myself that are
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: getting too melded together. And I think it's more so
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: because there's so many authors that are wanting to graph
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: so many readers.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Whereas this I am okay with.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Like, when Amberlyn is starting to really get into reading
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: chapter books, this is a book that I am willing.
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: For her to read.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: Oh yeah, this book has uh Like one of one
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: of my favorite parts of this book is the big twist,
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: and Tessa Gretton writes it so well and so smoothly
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: and then doesn't address it for a little bit, which
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: I normally hate because I have I have said this
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: plenty of times on almost every single reviewing podcast I've
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: ever been a part of. I hate non linear stories.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: It's like it's so much easier when you just say
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: A B C one plus two is three, you know,
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: and this, like I I really had a lot of
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: fun with it, because again, we are here to learn
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: about an entire planet and an entire people, and that's
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: what made it enjoyable, which I do kind of wish
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: that like more Star Wars did that, because again, like
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: I said in the beginning of this review, there's so
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: many moments where we're in pockets of a planet and
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: saying like, hey, we're only going to be here for
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: a little bit, so we don't need to learn too
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: much about it.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: But then there's like something like really cool that happens.
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: You're like, I want to learn more about that, and
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: it's like, Nope, we're just going to move on, whereas
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: here we're we're here the entire time.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to accomplish the world building of Star
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: Wars while also accomplishing the world building of the planet.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: That you're visiting because and this is like one of
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: the differences I found with Legends. For instance, Legends kind
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: of stuck to the same planets and so you never
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: really had to go back and introduce a new planet.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: You just kind of had to introduce the villain of
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: the story and their home and everything, whereas here most
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: of Star Wars has chosen to go to different planets
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: in each book. And so some authors really nailed that
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: and really nailed that individual world building along with the
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Star Wars world building, and some haven't. And I'm happy
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: to say test the grat and nailed both.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: So yeah, now after this, I will say I will
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: probably go ahead and go back to the galaxy map
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: the sea find Sealine, Yeah, just to see if they
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: had it in there, knowing that this book was going
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: to be publicized.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: You know, I need the bookmark.
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: Yes, Sam, I need to do the same thing the.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: Star Wars galaxy done. Okay, let's see explore more. Let's look, No, Apple,
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: I really don't want to verify my Apple account right now.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: I don't know why you're asking me.
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: I wonder if because I didn't do this before. Let's see,
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: Oh it doesn't. I was like can I control f.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: It and see you can control f the appendix?
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: Oh I can. Okay, hold on, let me go to
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: the appendix.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: Then I told you that before. Okay, So we have
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: i'ma don't see it. We have Sylvestry, Silver Sere, Celuria.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: Well maybe it's this guy Salun.
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: As well part of the UH map.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Are you on UH page forty seven?
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: Okay? Yeah?
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: But either way, Like I, I think that it's still
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: a very fun concept for them to be expanding this universe.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: I think eventually, like I do, think editorial should tell
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: them to be like, hey, let's let's let's step back.
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: On the you know, creating new worlds.
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: Let's jump into some of the ones that we haven't
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: really explored a whole lot of. Because you can't tell
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: me that every single one of these planets have been explored.
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: To its fullest, you know. Yeah, So I think that's
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: gonna be fun for the future of Star Wars nobilizations.
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: But is there anything else?
- 1:24:48Speaker 6: I don't think so, and she muted, Okay, I don't
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: know why I'm choking on my water. U.
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: But yeah, guys, that's gonna be it for our review.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: Like we always say, go out and enjoy this book
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: on your own. There is so much here that we
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: did not talk about, some of the juicier stuff that
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: is really really fun, and of course, like we said,
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: the big twist of this book was also really really fun.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: So with that, guys, of course, you can always find
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: me at fanboy Clay.

- 1:25:48Speaker 3: my crap together and started reading again.
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: Of course, finish this book.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: We have another Legends conversation coming up this month for
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: you guys, which I've already started, and of course our
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: Patreon series has also been something that I've also started

- 1:26:18Speaker 4: More on that, y'all.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: We're talking up a new Jedi order.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: I love it, yeah, so go check that out again.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: We have said that we are probably not going to
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: release that for a while unless there is a time
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: where we both need either a break or an emergency
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: happens and whatnot, and you can at least get that
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: first episode, so we will wait and see.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: But Katie. Where can the Lovely People listeners find you?
