Huntsville just approved a $220 million downtown upgrade funded through a Tax Increment Financing district — no tax hikes for residents, no cuts to schools or services. The bulk goes to expanding the Von Braun Center, with future property tax revenue from new development paying for it. Plus, $20 million more for the Beltline Greenway, a new Mill Creek park, courthouse renovations, and Lowe Avenue prep for a junior high school move — all approved by Madison County in July, setting the stage for major long-term growth.
