- 0:25Speaker 5: That I used to know have gone out the window.
- 0:29Speaker 2: All the things that she used to bring, all the
- 0:32Speaker 2: songs that she used to say, all the pay TV
- 0:36Speaker 2: shows have gone. You never said you were pretending.
- 0:47Speaker 6: I'm wi she knew. Can you feel the.
- 0:52Speaker 5: Same and just come back to me.

- 1:22Speaker 8: It's Quentin time here on the Zone Tippowered Sports Talk
- 1:26Speaker 8: Caleb Rapley filling in for Chip the final week of
- 1:29Speaker 8: the summer edition of this show. As Chip, We'll be
- 1:32Speaker 8: back on Monday. Believe the rumors they are true. He
- 1:35Speaker 8: will return with his SEC previews, and we're gonna do
- 1:38Speaker 8: a little SEC preview of our own co hosting with
- 1:42Speaker 8: me today across the table in the studio Andrew Rapsilver.
- 1:46Speaker 8: We will get into some of our SEC predictions, and
- 1:49Speaker 8: there are a lot of storylines coming into this twenty
- 1:52Speaker 8: twenty six college football season in the Southeastern Conference and beyond.
- 1:57Speaker 8: But we've got some first time coaches, are some new
- 2:01Speaker 8: coaches that is, and some coaches who are a little
- 2:04Speaker 8: bit on the hot seat. So we're gonna get into it.
- 2:07Speaker 8: First of all, Andrew, who is your pick to win
- 2:12Speaker 8: it all in the SEC? I just want to know
- 2:13Speaker 8: you're conference champion off the bat.
- 2:15Speaker 6: I mean, this is very boring by Georgia Bulldogs.
- 2:18Speaker 5: So we agree with this. We agree there.
- 2:20Speaker 9: It's too much to not think otherwise. I think the
- 2:26Speaker 9: dominance that they've had the schedule is pretty favorable, consistent,
- 2:30Speaker 9: proven success. It just didn't no one wants, no one
- 2:35Speaker 9: sniffs them. I believe in my opinion for the SEC,
- 2:38Speaker 9: is that a bulldog pun.
- 2:41Speaker 10: It is now?
- 2:42Speaker 6: I did not even think of that.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Yes, I guess yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 8: I have Georgia winning as well. I just think, you know,
- 2:48Speaker 8: they're pretty high on the returning production chart, and I
- 2:54Speaker 8: think this is FPI's returning production that I that I
- 2:57Speaker 8: have in front of me here. Georgia is fourth in
- 2:59Speaker 8: the SEC sixty eight percent returning production, that's ninth in
- 3:02Speaker 8: the country, so they're in a really good spot. I
- 3:06Speaker 8: think this is Gunner Stockton's senior year. Kirby Smart, you
- 3:10Speaker 8: know a lot of people have him as the best
- 3:13Speaker 8: coach in college football.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 3:16Speaker 8: I think he probably is the most proven for sure,
- 3:19Speaker 8: but you know, we haven't really seen him have quite
- 3:22Speaker 8: as much success in this nil era of college football
- 3:26Speaker 8: and college sports in general, So that's going to be
- 3:29Speaker 8: kind of the next next box to check for him
- 3:32Speaker 8: as far as you know, becoming one of the legends
- 3:34Speaker 8: of the sport in the coaching ranks, is showing the
- 3:39Speaker 8: ability to win in this in this changing era of
- 3:42Speaker 8: the game. Because we've seen Kurt Signetti kind of come
- 3:45Speaker 8: out of nowhere and win a national championship with Indiana
- 3:47Speaker 8: of all schools last year. So a lot of people
- 3:50Speaker 8: have Signetti as their number one coach, a lot of
- 3:52Speaker 8: people have Kirby, but I think it's you know, definitely
- 3:54Speaker 8: those two that are in the discussion for sure.
- 3:57Speaker 9: Well, there is a game to this, really and it
- 4:00Speaker 9: is interesting. You tell Krby Smart twenty years ago that
- 4:03Speaker 9: you'd be you know, part of winning a championship is
- 4:05Speaker 9: winning the nil game, and that's some of that's quite bizarre,
- 4:10Speaker 9: but you think about it, some of that files way
- 4:13Speaker 9: back to where to even the donors and things like
- 4:16Speaker 9: that of the school because I hate to transition to
- 4:18Speaker 9: college basketball. You know, Kelvin Sampson is one of the
- 4:21Speaker 9: best coaches in college basketball and he's going to be
- 4:24Speaker 9: a Hall of Famer in seven hundred wins in college basketball.
- 4:29Speaker 9: But you Age is one of the poorest schools when
- 4:31Speaker 9: it comes to nil giveouts. Yeah, and so some of
- 4:35Speaker 9: that matters. You've got to have that in Georgia as well.
- 4:39Speaker 9: You've got to still win the nil game regardless of
- 4:42Speaker 9: how good or not good you are. And so that
- 4:46Speaker 9: is a very interesting aspect when it comes to Kirby
- 4:48Speaker 9: Smart in Georgia.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 8: So I think Georgia is definitely one of the two
- 4:53Speaker 8: teams in kind of everybody's view is a contender for
- 4:58Speaker 8: the SEC title.
- 5:00Speaker 5: And then the other.
- 5:00Speaker 8: Team that is right up there with them is unfortunately
- 5:06Speaker 8: the Texas Longhorns. I know that Aggies hate to hear that,
- 5:09Speaker 8: but that is that is the perception anyway, If you
- 5:11Speaker 8: go by the SEC preseason media poll, they had the
- 5:15Speaker 8: second most champion votes with fifty seven, and they were
- 5:20Speaker 8: second overall in the predicted order of finish, So Georgia one,
- 5:25Speaker 8: Texas two for the media poll that they did at
- 5:27Speaker 8: SEC Media Day's last week. So, I, as much as
- 5:32Speaker 8: I hate to say it, I agree I have Texas
- 5:35Speaker 8: second in my predicted order of finish. I don't think
- 5:38Speaker 8: they're going to go undefeated by by any means. They
- 5:41Speaker 8: have I think the number one toughest schedule in the
- 5:46Speaker 8: nation and obviously the SEC as well, so they definitely
- 5:51Speaker 8: will not have a cakewalk to get to get to
- 5:55Speaker 8: the SEC championship game. They have to play some heavyweight teams.
- 6:00Speaker 5: They do have.
- 6:01Speaker 8: Obviously Ohio State in Week one is their toughest game
- 6:04Speaker 8: of the year. But the Red River shootout against Oklahoma,
- 6:09Speaker 8: I think this will be one of the best versions
- 6:11Speaker 8: of that game that we will ever see. I'm really
- 6:14Speaker 8: high on Oklahoma as well. They're They're one of those
- 6:17Speaker 8: teams that's in content tension for me. But I do,
- 6:21Speaker 8: I mean, I do think Texas is the better team probably,
- 6:23Speaker 8: but that's gonna be a great game, and obviously the
- 6:27Speaker 8: end of the season for the Longhorns will also be
- 6:29Speaker 8: tough playing Ole Miss LSU and of course Week thirteen
- 6:34Speaker 8: the lone Star showdown against our Texas A and m
- 6:38Speaker 8: Aggie's So, Andrew, where do you have the Longhorns? Are
- 6:41Speaker 8: they your second team as well?
- 6:42Speaker 9: I had them at three? Okay, so I put Ole
- 6:46Speaker 9: Miss at two, all right. So that's that's kind of
- 6:49Speaker 9: where I'm feeling here. And partially, you know, there's some games,
- 6:54Speaker 9: sometimes for good reason or not, that leave a bad
- 6:57Speaker 9: taste in your mouth. And you look at trying to
- 6:59Speaker 9: see the oath of Arch Manning, and you look at
- 7:01Speaker 9: last year at Florida for Texas one of those that
- 7:04Speaker 9: was just you had to have that, and sure they didn't.
- 7:08Speaker 9: And I you know, there's so much development you got
- 7:11Speaker 9: to see out of Arch as well that you know,
- 7:14Speaker 9: there's a lot of unknowns.
- 7:16Speaker 6: There's too many unknowns.
- 7:18Speaker 9: And I understand you the bringing in Cam Coleman and
- 7:21Speaker 9: the off season on the offensive side of the ball,
- 7:23Speaker 9: Rashene Biles on the defensive end. But I look at
- 7:29Speaker 9: Ole Miss and why I have them at second that's
- 7:31Speaker 9: still I understand. It's the peak Golden era. We heard
- 7:34Speaker 9: that from Marty Smith as soon as he covered the
- 7:38Speaker 9: Lane kiff and departure that everyone came out of the
- 7:41Speaker 9: meeting room. This is this is a Pete Golden era,
- 7:43Speaker 9: this is the Pete Golden area. Well, it's still mostly
- 7:46Speaker 9: Lane's team, still Trinidad Chambliss. Comparing schedules, Old Miss does
- 7:52Speaker 9: not have as rough a go as Texas by any means.
- 7:56Speaker 9: I look at October twenty fourth, Ole Miss at Texas
- 7:59Speaker 9: to be the deciding factor in that one, Okay, And
- 8:03Speaker 9: I think you know, because Ole Miss, they do have
- 8:06Speaker 9: the game at Texas, they host Georgia, they are at Oklahoma,
- 8:09Speaker 9: they host LSU, which is essentially gonna be one of
- 8:12Speaker 9: the that could get some one of the higher rated
- 8:16Speaker 9: TV ratings games in the entire year. That's there, that's
- 8:18Speaker 9: their super Bowl. I think you've given all that. You
- 8:21Speaker 9: still got the core there and Ole Miss, and that
- 8:23Speaker 9: the run they had in the CFP. Still I still
- 8:26Speaker 9: think they're gonna be very good. It's sort of a
- 8:29Speaker 9: you know, Barry Switcher taking over the nineties Cowboys.
- 8:33Speaker 6: Were's still the same core, still the same core. So
- 8:36Speaker 6: but it's gonna it's not gonna be that way forever.
- 8:39Speaker 9: But I think the uh ole Miss will will be
- 8:43Speaker 9: that second spot up there in Texas will be third.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Okay, So.
- 8:49Speaker 8: I don't have an issue with that. I do think
- 8:52Speaker 8: that Ole Miss they will be very solid. They actually
- 8:55Speaker 8: are third on the SEC media's predicted order of finish Georgia, Texas,
- 9:01Speaker 8: ole Miss, and I kind of I see it. Trinidad
- 9:07Speaker 8: Chamberlass is probably the number one quarterback in the nation
- 9:10Speaker 8: right now, definitely the most experience of anybody. Now, a
- 9:16Speaker 8: lot of that was at the lower levels of college football,
- 9:18Speaker 8: but still one of the best talents that will be
- 9:22Speaker 8: in this class of quarterbacks that we have in twenty
- 9:25Speaker 8: twenty six. I think if arch Manning takes that next step,
- 9:29Speaker 8: that probably will be the deciding factor of whether or
- 9:32Speaker 8: not Texas is the number one team or number two
- 9:34Speaker 8: team in the SEC. I think that he's going to
- 9:38Speaker 8: decide whether or not they are a upper echelon national
- 9:43Speaker 8: championship contender or if they're just, you know, a very
- 9:46Speaker 8: good team.
- 9:46Speaker 9: When I put this list together, that was the exact
- 9:48Speaker 9: thing I sat and wrestled with, is okay, so you
- 9:52Speaker 9: go with there's potential there with arch Manning to even
- 9:55Speaker 9: jump to number one, you know, or could really contend
- 9:58Speaker 9: with Georgia dependent if he really takes that next step.
- 10:02Speaker 6: But there's so much unknown there.
- 10:04Speaker 9: I'm going to go with the comfortable where what I
- 10:07Speaker 9: feel most comfortable with.
- 10:08Speaker 6: And that's why that's why I.
- 10:09Speaker 9: Lean ole Miss for sure, because there definitely can be
- 10:13Speaker 9: a lot of potential with Texas and it would not
- 10:16Speaker 9: shock me one bit if they were two and ole
- 10:20Speaker 9: Miss was not. I just still think the lane exit
- 10:25Speaker 9: towards right by the CFP. You had the run of
- 10:28Speaker 9: the CFP. I don't think the clock is necessarily struck
- 10:33Speaker 9: midnight on this Pete Golding Ole Miss Cinderella story type
- 10:37Speaker 9: thing before whether this works out or not, that this
- 10:41Speaker 9: is now going to be Pete Golding's team for the while.
- 10:44Speaker 9: They're they're very committed and all into that, but there's,
- 10:47Speaker 9: you know, there's still some of the natural abilities to
- 10:49Speaker 9: that that Neil Lane was a big reason they got
- 10:51Speaker 9: to where they were and does that hold up in
- 10:54Speaker 9: a full season. We don't know, And there's so many
- 10:58Speaker 9: trials and tribulations of a college football season and we
- 11:01Speaker 9: have That's that's.
- 11:02Speaker 6: The unknown for all Miss.
- 11:03Speaker 9: We don't know how how the whole system with Pete
- 11:06Speaker 9: Golding will look under under an entire season. But I
- 11:09Speaker 9: just felt more comfortable when looking at that on paper
- 11:12Speaker 9: as there's just more questions than I had answers with
- 11:14Speaker 9: with Texas.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair.
- 11:16Speaker 8: Now, we did see Pete Golden leave the Rebel lead
- 11:19Speaker 8: the Rebels to a win against Georgia in the College
- 11:22Speaker 8: Football Playoff, so there we've seen it happen. But right that,
- 11:26Speaker 8: at that point, it was one hundred percent still Lane's
- 11:28Speaker 8: team because you know, he left in the middle of
- 11:30Speaker 8: the season.
- 11:32Speaker 5: But we know that at least.
- 11:34Speaker 8: Golding has the capability to not screw it up in
- 11:38Speaker 8: game at least. Uh, So we'll see, you know, how
- 11:42Speaker 8: John David Baker play his play calling.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Is on the offensive side of the football.
- 11:48Speaker 8: Offensive coordinator for the Rebels this year after being the
- 11:52Speaker 8: offensive coordinator at East Carolina the last two seasons.
- 11:54Speaker 5: So there's a lot of.
- 11:56Speaker 8: Changing, changing things, a lot of moving parts for ole Miss,
- 11:59Speaker 8: but they will definitely be very solid. My number three team,
- 12:02Speaker 8: and this is probably where the uh, this is kind
- 12:06Speaker 8: of the point of divergence, I would say between me
- 12:09Speaker 8: and you and the SEC media poll as well.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I have Alabama. Wow, I like it.
- 12:14Speaker 8: Okay, I'm very high on them coming into this season.
- 12:18Speaker 8: I know they still haven't named a quarterback. I know
- 12:21Speaker 8: that Kaylen de Boor might be on a little bit
- 12:23Speaker 8: of a hot seat here, but they do still have
- 12:26Speaker 8: one of the best wide receivers in college football that
- 12:29Speaker 8: people kind of forget about because he didn't didn't show
- 12:32Speaker 8: it as much last year, but Ryan Coleman Williams is
- 12:35Speaker 8: one of the most electric players in the game. I
- 12:39Speaker 8: think that Alabama has has the experience. As much as
- 12:42Speaker 8: people like to hate on Kaylen de Boor, he knows
- 12:44Speaker 8: how to win football games. And I think that they
- 12:48Speaker 8: have one of the more favorable schedules, which I know
- 12:52Speaker 8: in the nine game conference schedule of the SEC, there
- 12:56Speaker 8: are no favorable schedules that they are all extremely difficult,
- 13:00Speaker 8: But I think Alabama has one of the better draws.
- 13:03Speaker 8: They're two toughest games of the year, in my opinion,
- 13:06Speaker 8: are against Georgia and Texas A and M, and those
- 13:08Speaker 8: are both home games. They do have to go on
- 13:11Speaker 8: the road to play Tennessee in LSU, but getting your
- 13:14Speaker 8: two toughest games at home is a big advantage.
- 13:18Speaker 6: I agree.
- 13:19Speaker 9: Yeah, No, I see the vision of exactly what you're saying,
- 13:22Speaker 9: for sure.
- 13:23Speaker 8: That's that's my main that's kind of my main point
- 13:28Speaker 8: in putting them third. I don't even I don't know
- 13:29Speaker 8: if I would say they're the third best team, but
- 13:31Speaker 8: I was trying to look at this and and I
- 13:34Speaker 8: did use playoff predictors dot Com to kind of use
- 13:37Speaker 8: the u how the conference records like could actually exist
- 13:41Speaker 8: just because of who plays who. You know, you don't
- 13:43Speaker 8: play every team in the league every season, so like
- 13:46Speaker 8: you know, Alabama and Texas don't play, Alabama and Ole
- 13:49Speaker 8: Miss don't play, so we don't necessarily get to see
- 13:51Speaker 8: those head to head matchups. But just based on Alabama schedule,
- 13:56Speaker 8: I think they will finish with a good enough conference
- 13:58Speaker 8: record to be third in the league. Don't know that
- 14:00Speaker 8: I would say they're the third best team, but I
- 14:02Speaker 8: think they will be. I have them going ten and two,
- 14:05Speaker 8: both of those conference losses. But like I said, getting
- 14:09Speaker 8: your two toughest home games or toughest games of the
- 14:11Speaker 8: year at home is a huge advantage.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I agree.
- 14:14Speaker 9: When when you can make it work like that ass
- 14:17Speaker 9: in the schedule and that's that's out will be for Bama,
- 14:20Speaker 9: that certainly plays an advantage.
- 14:23Speaker 6: I don't think going into l s U is going
- 14:25Speaker 6: to be the cakewalk.
- 14:27Speaker 5: It definitely will not.
- 14:28Speaker 9: Be you know, Kaylen to Boor, you have the whole
- 14:33Speaker 9: hot seat factor there that there's to me when when
- 14:38Speaker 9: I always when I when I see Kaylen de Boor
- 14:40Speaker 9: and I've seen Alabama under him, it's you need to
- 14:44Speaker 9: be great, and I see them as pretty good. I've
- 14:47Speaker 9: just not felt to them to be great like ye
- 14:51Speaker 9: the Powerhouse of Georgia or or someone like that, or
- 14:54Speaker 9: even you see like an Ohio state. It just has
- 14:58Speaker 9: not felt great. It's felt pretty good. So that that's
- 15:02Speaker 9: kind of where I'm that's fair. But still, you know,
- 15:05Speaker 9: and sometimes the hot seat factor is very real when
- 15:08Speaker 9: you kind of know, you know, there's sometimes those conversations
- 15:11Speaker 9: could be had of all right, calin this this year
- 15:14Speaker 9: or that's it, you know, and what kind of fired
- 15:17Speaker 9: is that light?
- 15:17Speaker 5: You know?
- 15:18Speaker 6: You really you really never know.
- 15:19Speaker 9: So I I it can definitely play some good dividends.
- 15:24Speaker 9: I don't think that's that's what's gonna happen, but I
- 15:27Speaker 9: definitely could see it being a possibility.
- 15:30Speaker 8: The SEC Media poll has Alabama number six, uh so
- 15:34Speaker 8: number four. Moving on, this is where I have my
- 15:38Speaker 8: Texas A and m Maggie's and I think that this is.
- 15:43Speaker 5: Chalky. This is where the SEC media has a M
- 15:45Speaker 5: as well at number four.
- 15:46Speaker 8: Who's your number four team? Andrew Sex's a and m Okay, okay,
- 15:50Speaker 8: so we're all on the same page here, And this
- 15:55Speaker 8: is the year that I think Mike Elco has put
- 15:58Speaker 8: the most pressure on himself just because of how exciting
- 16:02Speaker 8: and surprise, not surprising, but how good last year was
- 16:05Speaker 8: with eleven wins in the SEC, even you know before
- 16:09Speaker 8: the nine game conference schedule and eleven win team from
- 16:11Speaker 8: the SEC is one of the best teams in the country, but.
- 16:14Speaker 5: They did have a pretty favorable schedule.
- 16:16Speaker 8: They did not end up on the way I keep
- 16:18Speaker 8: saying they We did not end up having to play
- 16:22Speaker 8: really any of the great teams in the SEC last year.
- 16:25Speaker 8: Our one loss in the regular season was to Texas,
- 16:27Speaker 8: and Texas was not as good as they were supposed
- 16:31Speaker 8: to be. We should not have lost that game. But
- 16:35Speaker 8: eleven wins, and I think it was mostly because we
- 16:38Speaker 8: kind of got to dodge Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole, Miss Like,
- 16:43Speaker 8: we didn't play any of those teams. Pretty insane. Now
- 16:47Speaker 8: you still have to go win SEC games. It's not easy.
- 16:51Speaker 8: It doesn't matter who the team is in the SEC,
- 16:53Speaker 8: it's not easy to win that game, so it's still impressive.
- 16:56Speaker 8: But the schedule this year is much much.
- 16:59Speaker 5: More difficult than it was last year.
- 17:01Speaker 8: Two very tough road games, well really okay, three road
- 17:05Speaker 8: games that would not be surprised if we ended up
- 17:08Speaker 8: taking a loss Week four against LSU, Week eight against Alabama,
- 17:13Speaker 8: and Week twelve against Oklahoma. Those are all teams that
- 17:16Speaker 8: are in most people's top five in the conference. If
- 17:21Speaker 8: you go by Bill Connolly's sp plus projections, that's the
- 17:26Speaker 8: number four team in the SEC, LSU, the number five
- 17:30Speaker 8: team Alabama, and the number six team Oklahoma. So all
- 17:33Speaker 8: of those road games are going to be very crucial.
- 17:36Speaker 8: And then our home schedule is also tough, not quite
- 17:39Speaker 8: as tough, but still a couple good teams. I think
- 17:42Speaker 8: the main highlights are Tennessee in week eleven and Texas
- 17:45Speaker 8: in week thirteen. So just because of how difficult our
- 17:48Speaker 8: schedule is, I do think we're going to end up
- 17:51Speaker 8: with probably two conference losses. So I think this will
- 17:55Speaker 8: be one of those kind of similar to last year
- 17:56Speaker 8: where we had a lot of ten win teams but
- 17:59Speaker 8: no extremely dominant teams. I think it's gonna be like
- 18:02Speaker 8: that again. And that is a product of the nine
- 18:04Speaker 8: game conference schedule.
- 18:06Speaker 9: I so probably about three minutes before we came back
- 18:10Speaker 9: from from commercial, I had Texas A and M at three. Okay,
- 18:17Speaker 9: I really did, And right before we came back, I
- 18:20Speaker 9: had swapped it in simply because of the Texas A
- 18:23Speaker 9: and M schedule. Yeah, that's kind of what at the
- 18:26Speaker 9: last second throw me off of it. There are the
- 18:28Speaker 9: question marks with Arch and everything that we just talked about.
- 18:31Speaker 9: But you look at you know, you go to Alabama.
- 18:36Speaker 9: I'm not as really concerned with that game. I do
- 18:39Speaker 9: think the Oklahoma game is pretty difficult Alabama. You know,
- 18:44Speaker 9: there's there's a lot of familiarity there. I don't think
- 18:47Speaker 9: A and M will have any trouble with Tennessee coming
- 18:49Speaker 9: to College Station. The one thing I do look at though,
- 18:54Speaker 9: is Columbia South Carolina. That is a a one of
- 18:58Speaker 9: those stadium and environments and colleges. I it's the best
- 19:03Speaker 9: word to describe as pesky. You don't talk about it
- 19:06Speaker 9: very much or sometimes as much as you should. That
- 19:09Speaker 9: is a tough place to play, and you know it's
- 19:12Speaker 9: it's like Nick Saban used to say about Auburn, that
- 19:15Speaker 9: place is haunted. I believe that sometimes with Columbia that
- 19:18Speaker 9: place is haunted.
- 19:19Speaker 6: It just is.
- 19:20Speaker 9: I don't know any other logical reason behind it, but
- 19:24Speaker 9: it's just a tougher place to play, So it can't
- 19:26Speaker 9: discount that, you know. Of course, I do think a
- 19:29Speaker 9: lot of the season, as it always does, hinges on
- 19:32Speaker 9: whether Texas A and M can beat Texas or not.
- 19:35Speaker 6: That's a huge, huge factor.
- 19:37Speaker 9: In it, and I think that's sort of been one
- 19:41Speaker 9: of this university's hurdles that I think if you can
- 19:44Speaker 9: get past that, and obviously I think it's going to
- 19:47Speaker 9: be extremely crucial in the SEC standings. It could be
- 19:51Speaker 9: what it's been, like the deciding factor of whether you
- 19:53Speaker 9: make an SEC championship game or not, or.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Whether you know, you know for.
- 19:58Speaker 9: The sake or like last year wasn't necessar sssarily that case.
- 20:01Speaker 9: But I do think because of the schedule, that's why
- 20:06Speaker 9: I've got I'm gonna have Texas A and M at
- 20:09Speaker 9: fourth and it's all so much at the end, it
- 20:12Speaker 9: is all that that first half of the schedule. I
- 20:15Speaker 9: don't see them losing a game. I don't see them
- 20:18Speaker 9: going into LSU and losing. I really don't You look
- 20:22Speaker 9: at the other games, you know, Arizona State, Kentucky, of course, Arkansas.
- 20:27Speaker 9: I don't it's not an issue going to Missouri, they'll
- 20:30Speaker 9: be fine. Then the Citadel, but then that's where you
- 20:34Speaker 9: get to Alabama, South Carolina both on the road and
- 20:37Speaker 9: then home against Tennessee, on the road against Oklahoma, home
- 20:41Speaker 9: against Texas. In those last five games, I still I
- 20:45Speaker 9: see them going three and five.
- 20:47Speaker 5: So so you have us going nine and three.
- 20:51Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, So I think that's a simply simply because
- 20:57Speaker 6: of that schedule.
- 20:58Speaker 9: I think it's a it's a gauntlet towards the end.
- 21:02Speaker 6: That's that's that's a tough draw.
- 21:04Speaker 9: Sometimes you'd love to see Missouri be thrown in the
- 21:07Speaker 9: middle of that, in that middle of that run or
- 21:10Speaker 9: something to that effect, as opposed to or Kentucky thrown
- 21:13Speaker 9: in the middle of that. But that's that's a gauntlet
- 21:17Speaker 9: of the schedulety end for sure.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 8: No, it's good that the buy is mixed in there
- 21:23Speaker 8: because Alabama Week eight, bye week and then the one
- 21:27Speaker 8: of the tougher four game stretches that you'll see for sure,
- 21:33Speaker 8: And it's also going to come down to.
- 21:36Speaker 5: This offense.
- 21:37Speaker 8: I don't have any concerns at all about the defensive
- 21:39Speaker 8: I'm being honest, which is probably.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Gonna come back to bite me.
- 21:41Speaker 6: But now that you've said it, yeah.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Now that I've said it out loud.
- 21:45Speaker 8: But the offense, I think is what this team is
- 21:48Speaker 8: going to determine this team's ceiling. Holmand Wiggins first time
- 21:52Speaker 8: play color offensive coordinator Marcel Reid in you know, kind
- 21:56Speaker 8: of year two and a half as the starting quarterback
- 22:01Speaker 8: and possibly his last year, who knows, I mean the term,
- 22:05Speaker 8: It depends on his performance this year. But that is
- 22:08Speaker 8: what's gonna either propel us to the top of the
- 22:11Speaker 8: sport or keep us, you know, kind of in the middle.
- 22:15Speaker 8: Is how that offense performs, and specifically how I really
- 22:19Speaker 8: think the passing game, because the running game should be
- 22:21Speaker 8: solid as long as the offensive line is decent. The
- 22:24Speaker 8: running game should be pretty solid with the amount of
- 22:27Speaker 8: depth that we have in the running back room with
- 22:28Speaker 8: Ruben Owens, Jimerian Moro and kJ Edwards. So it's really
- 22:32Speaker 8: going to depend on if Marcel can take advantage of
- 22:36Speaker 8: this extremely talented wide receiver corps that he has and
- 22:39Speaker 8: if Holman Wiggins can call the right place. So we
- 22:41Speaker 8: both have a and m fourth, we'll just do We'll
- 22:45Speaker 8: do a fifth team before we go to break here,
- 22:47Speaker 8: and then we'll probably do a little more sec discussion
- 22:49Speaker 8: on the other side. But number five, for me, this
- 22:52Speaker 8: is where I have ole Miss, and this is where
- 22:57Speaker 8: I have my last of the ten win teams that
- 23:00Speaker 8: in my projections anyway, which these are, you know, the
- 23:03Speaker 8: win total projections are kind of rough around the edges,
- 23:06Speaker 8: but I have ale Miss going ten and two two
- 23:10Speaker 8: losses in conference play. I think that I think they're
- 23:14Speaker 8: going to get it done at home against LSU in
- 23:16Speaker 8: Week three, and I think that's going to take.
- 23:18Speaker 5: All the wind out of the Tigers sales.
- 23:21Speaker 8: And I'm very glad that A and M gets to
- 23:23Speaker 8: play LSU right after that game, even though it's on
- 23:26Speaker 8: the road. I think that bodes very well for the
- 23:28Speaker 8: Aggies and I'm going to be there, so I'm excited
- 23:30Speaker 8: for that.
- 23:31Speaker 5: But this is where I have ole Miss.
- 23:34Speaker 8: I think that, you know, with a little bit of
- 23:37Speaker 8: an easier schedule, they could be in contention for the
- 23:39Speaker 8: conference championship, but they have to play arguably three of
- 23:44Speaker 8: the five or six best teams in the conference, or
- 23:49Speaker 8: four of the six, seven, eight best teams if you
- 23:52Speaker 8: count LSU in there. LSU Week three, Texas on the road,
- 23:56Speaker 8: Week eight, Georgia at home Week ten, and then Oklahoma
- 24:00Speaker 8: on the road Week eleven. So they're going to lose
- 24:03Speaker 8: at least two of those games, maybe more, maybe less,
- 24:06Speaker 8: but I think it's going to be two or three
- 24:09Speaker 8: games that they lose, and that week eleven matchup against Oklahoma,
- 24:15Speaker 8: in my personal opinion, that game is going to determine
- 24:20Speaker 8: who is the fifth and final SEC team that gets
- 24:23Speaker 8: in the playoff and who gets left out.
- 24:25Speaker 9: Yeah, that's one hundred percent. I certainly agree with that.
- 24:29Speaker 9: So you had ole Miss at five, I went LSU.
- 24:33Speaker 5: Oh okay high on Lane Kiffin.
- 24:36Speaker 9: I do think there is no reason you bring in
- 24:40Speaker 9: Lane Kiffin to have a severe rebuilding gear. Yeah, LSU
- 24:45Speaker 9: it does not ever have that kind of patience. It's
- 24:48Speaker 9: it's go time now. They will not win a national
- 24:51Speaker 9: championship this year. I feel very comfortable.
- 24:54Speaker 6: About saying that.
- 24:55Speaker 9: But if you didn't see some sort of large movement
- 25:00Speaker 9: right away in year one, like you with with LSU
- 25:03Speaker 9: and the noted credibility of we want to win now,
- 25:07Speaker 9: and I know, as as bad as shape as things were,
- 25:10Speaker 9: it's not going to be immediate, but you've got to
- 25:12Speaker 9: have something, and I think they will.
- 25:14Speaker 6: I think.
- 25:17Speaker 9: I look at of course September nineteenth, LSU Old Miss.
- 25:20Speaker 9: I think there's there's a grandiose possibility that Ole Miss
- 25:27Speaker 9: that is the game that they have prepared for, and
- 25:29Speaker 9: they have put almost too much weight and too much
- 25:32Speaker 9: pressure and too much hype and energy around that game
- 25:35Speaker 9: where LSU could come in and just take care of business.
- 25:38Speaker 9: They start off with Clemson, then LA Tech and you know,
- 25:41Speaker 9: just they're just it's business. It's first, first big test,
- 25:45Speaker 9: and you get going. I think Lane is going to
- 25:49Speaker 9: have zero problems with the environment that he walks into
- 25:53Speaker 9: into Ole Miss in that that night. I think he's
- 25:55Speaker 9: he's going to be more than prepared of what he's
- 25:57Speaker 9: what he's going to face. I think that's going to
- 25:59Speaker 9: be you you talk about playoff games, and you talk
- 26:01Speaker 9: about high energy games and the home team and the
- 26:04Speaker 9: environment that you walk into and there's so much anticipation
- 26:08Speaker 9: and energy around it that it's almost easier for the
- 26:12Speaker 9: road team to come in and.
- 26:13Speaker 6: Just be like, all right, it's road game, take care
- 26:14Speaker 6: of business. What do we need to do?
- 26:16Speaker 5: That's fair?
- 26:16Speaker 9: So I wouldn't be stunned if they if they took
- 26:18Speaker 9: that game against ole Miss. I do think A and
- 26:22Speaker 9: M as I mentioned, will beat LSU. But then in
- 26:25Speaker 9: the remainding greater portion of the schedule, you know, there
- 26:30Speaker 9: is Alabama, there is Texas. There there is a few
- 26:33Speaker 9: question marks though in three week stretch they play, they
- 26:36Speaker 9: host Alabama, host Texas, and then go on the road
- 26:39Speaker 9: to play Tennessee. Tennessee not one of the easier places
- 26:42Speaker 9: to play. I don't think the the I don't think
- 26:45Speaker 9: they'll lose all three necessarily, but it's very possible. But
- 26:50Speaker 9: I do think that they're they're going to have a
- 26:53Speaker 9: stronger run than people think. And I look at that
- 26:57Speaker 9: Old Miss game specifically, is a great, great opportunity for them,
- 27:01Speaker 9: to quote I guess the best word is to steal
- 27:04Speaker 9: a win. I you know, I think Ole Miss is
- 27:09Speaker 9: gonna be pretty favored in that, but I think it's
- 27:11Speaker 9: a great opportunity, with all the noise and all the chaos,
- 27:15Speaker 9: to just walk in and get a gritty win on
- 27:19Speaker 9: the road. So that that's kind of where I have LSU.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Okay.
- 27:23Speaker 8: I think that Week three game against LSU Ole Mess
- 27:26Speaker 8: is going to determine the course of the season right
- 27:30Speaker 8: for whichever team, whichever team wins that game, will be
- 27:32Speaker 8: in a great position. I think the winner of that
- 27:34Speaker 8: game went makes the College Football Playoff and the loser doesn't.
- 27:37Speaker 8: That's and I know Week three is a very early
- 27:40Speaker 8: time to say that, but that's just the way that
- 27:42Speaker 8: I think this is going to shake out with. You know,
- 27:44Speaker 8: with the nine game conference schedule in the SEC, you
- 27:47Speaker 8: got to start on the right foot. So if LSU
- 27:49Speaker 8: does get that done, there the sky's the limit for them.
- 27:52Speaker 8: Even though they do have to play Bama and Texas,
- 27:55Speaker 8: LSU gets three of their four toughest games at home.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Just like who was I talking about earlier? Was it Bama?
- 28:03Speaker 8: Yeah, I think it was Bama that was saying that
- 28:04Speaker 8: gets their tough games at home. Same thing with LSU.
- 28:08Speaker 8: They get to play Texas, A and m Alabama and
- 28:12Speaker 8: Texas all at home. The only road game that I
- 28:17Speaker 8: think is gonna give them trouble is Ole Miss and
- 28:21Speaker 8: Tennessee a little bit to a lesser extent, but that's
- 28:23Speaker 8: still that's still a tough team. But their other road
- 28:25Speaker 8: games are Arkansas, Auburn, and Kentucky. So if they can
- 28:30Speaker 8: take business at home, and like you said, still one
- 28:33Speaker 8: of those wins are still that win on the road.
- 28:37Speaker 8: They definitely can be the number five team, and I
- 28:39Speaker 8: think that's where. Yeah, the SEC media poll has them
- 28:42Speaker 8: number five as well. I have them just outside kind
- 28:48Speaker 8: of my next group of teams, which is just just
- 28:51Speaker 8: two teams on the outside looking in of the of
- 28:53Speaker 8: the top five, and that's Oklahoma LSU. I think either
- 28:56Speaker 8: of those teams could end up, you know, jumping up
- 28:59Speaker 8: in and I think it's five teams in the playoff
- 29:02Speaker 8: for the SEC in case I hadn't already said that.
- 29:04Speaker 8: So I have Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Texas A and m
- 29:08Speaker 8: ole Miss, and then Oklahoma LSU right there on the
- 29:10Speaker 8: outside looking in. Can you go ahead and read your
- 29:13Speaker 8: list your top five and full real quick, just to
- 29:15Speaker 8: cap off this segment.
- 29:17Speaker 9: Yeah, So I had Georgia, then Ole Miss, followed by Texas,
- 29:20Speaker 9: then Texas A and m and then LSU in.
- 29:23Speaker 8: The top five for the SEC, so fairly similar four.
- 29:28Speaker 8: I think of the five teams we had the same
- 29:30Speaker 8: or at least in the top five, right, So LSU
- 29:33Speaker 8: and Alabama where we disagree, which I think is kind
- 29:37Speaker 8: of true for most of the public perception. But it'll
- 29:41Speaker 8: be interesting to see what he can get done in
- 29:42Speaker 8: your one. We're going to take a break and we'll
- 29:44Speaker 8: come back and do some more SEC talk. I want
- 29:46Speaker 8: to get into some of the first year coaches and
- 29:48Speaker 8: how we think they're going to do in year one.

- 34:26Speaker 8: in the host chair across the table in the studio
- 34:30Speaker 8: Andrew Rapsilver, and we are going to continue some of
- 34:35Speaker 8: our SEC predictions in this college football preseason. This portion
- 34:39Speaker 8: of our program is brought to you by west Web,
- 34:41Speaker 8: All Britain and Gentry. So we did our top five
- 34:45Speaker 8: teams in the SEC. Now I kind of want to
- 34:47Speaker 8: get into some of our predictions for these middle of
- 34:51Speaker 8: the road teams. So there's you know, kind of three
- 34:57Speaker 8: maybe really okay. So there's four teams outside of the
- 35:00Speaker 8: top five that I think, you know, kind of have
- 35:03Speaker 8: that that ability to jump up there, maybe five if
- 35:07Speaker 8: you want to stretch it. Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee, Missouri, and
- 35:13Speaker 8: then maybe a Florida, maybe an Auburn, you know, maybe
- 35:17Speaker 8: a Vandy. If Vandy can they've seen the success now
- 35:20Speaker 8: they've tasted it. Clark Lee is a great coach. Can
- 35:23Speaker 8: they continue their success without Diego Pavia. There's there's a
- 35:27Speaker 8: lot of different options there. So of the teams that
- 35:32Speaker 8: we haven't talked about, Andrew, who who do you like?
- 35:36Speaker 8: Who do you think is going to jump up and
- 35:38Speaker 8: exceed expectations this.
- 35:40Speaker 6: Year for a lot of reasons, And so bear with me.
- 35:44Speaker 9: I think the Florida Gators with John Sumrall first year,
- 35:47Speaker 9: I think I think this is going to be great.
- 35:51Speaker 9: So I come from a unique experience here with this
- 35:54Speaker 9: because going with Tulane and John Sumrall in the year's there. Yeah,
- 35:59Speaker 9: my brother attends University of North Texas, same conference, and
- 36:05Speaker 9: so as you and t had their great run last
- 36:08Speaker 9: year all the way to the conference title game. Tulane
- 36:12Speaker 9: was right there in the standings as well. So we're
- 36:14Speaker 9: watching both of them consistently. And the great program that
- 36:17Speaker 9: Eric Morris ran at U and T last year, and
- 36:19Speaker 9: I think he's going to go on to do great
- 36:20Speaker 9: things at Oklahoma State, Tulane is has. God, there's the grittiness,
- 36:26Speaker 9: the nastiness, the explosiveness, high energy football, and that played
- 36:31Speaker 9: prominent into how they won that conference title game. And
- 36:35Speaker 9: when you talk about going into the swamp, you there's
- 36:39Speaker 9: a like I've said the word before earlier in the
- 36:41Speaker 9: in the show, but the gravitas of going into the swamp,
- 36:44Speaker 9: you are going in for a fight. And you need,
- 36:47Speaker 9: you know, for Florida Gators to get that back, to
- 36:50Speaker 9: get that intensity, that that high energy football again. And
- 36:53Speaker 9: I think some raw is is going to be tremendous
- 36:57Speaker 9: for that. And they've got an opportunit unity to shake
- 37:00Speaker 9: some things up. You know that they're gonna host Vanderbilt
- 37:03Speaker 9: and you talk about being you know, you listed Vanderbilt
- 37:06Speaker 9: as one of those teams just now that what does
- 37:08Speaker 9: it look like with Clark Lee, What does it look
- 37:11Speaker 9: like going into the Swamp against a John Sumrall team,
- 37:14Speaker 9: there's opportunities here to really pull off some good wins.
- 37:19Speaker 9: I don't think they're gonna go crazy or anything, because
- 37:22Speaker 9: you still got to play Texas, Ole, Miss Georgia, even Oklahoma.
- 37:27Speaker 6: But I'm just bear with me on that.
- 37:29Speaker 9: I think I think they're gonna make more noise than
- 37:32Speaker 9: than people anticipate in the first.
- 37:33Speaker 6: Year system with John Sumral so I.
- 37:36Speaker 8: See, I see your vision there. My biggest question with
- 37:41Speaker 8: Florida in year one, you know, like Pete golding Man,
- 37:46Speaker 8: when we talked about year one coaches a minute ago,
- 37:49Speaker 8: I didn't even fully remember that Pete golding was the
- 37:52Speaker 8: first year coach and so was Lane Kiffen.
- 37:54Speaker 5: But for the for the coaches that are new to the.
- 37:59Speaker 8: SEC, yeah, which are John Sumrall at Florida, Alex Golish
- 38:03Speaker 8: at Auburn, Ryan Silverfield at Arkansas, and Will Stein at Kentucky.
- 38:10Speaker 5: It's when you're moving to when you're moving up.
- 38:14Speaker 8: In conferences like Somerrell's doing, I think it's always very
- 38:19Speaker 8: helpful for that transition to have a true experienced number
- 38:24Speaker 8: one quarterback, and the Gators don't really have that. So
- 38:29Speaker 8: Tremelle Jones is a red shirt freshman, was the primary
- 38:33Speaker 8: backup for DJ Lagway last year at Florida, stuck around
- 38:37Speaker 8: with the new coaching staff, and then the favorite for
- 38:40Speaker 8: the job as of right now anyway is Aaron Filo,
- 38:44Speaker 8: who was Haynes King's backup at Georgia Tech last year
- 38:48Speaker 8: and the year prior and comes over alongside his offensive
- 38:53Speaker 8: coordinator with the Yellow Jackets, Buster Faulkner. So there's some
- 38:58Speaker 8: there's some ties there. So he's definitely the favorite for
- 39:01Speaker 8: the job, and if he ends up winning it, I
- 39:03Speaker 8: think that probably will be the right decision at least
- 39:06Speaker 8: for I think he's the safe option for sure. But
- 39:11Speaker 8: he's not one of those guys like like a Trinidad
- 39:14Speaker 8: chamberliss at Ole miss last year that transferred in. He's
- 39:17Speaker 8: not one of those big name transfers that you expect
- 39:20Speaker 8: the world of. So he could end up being great.
- 39:23Speaker 8: But that's kind of.
- 39:23Speaker 5: My main hang up with the Gators in year one
- 39:26Speaker 5: for me anyway.
- 39:27Speaker 9: So when I when I let off with that, I
- 39:31Speaker 9: use the phrase bear with me. I really mean bear
- 39:34Speaker 9: with me for you know, a bear, but essentially because yeah,
- 39:38Speaker 9: the quarterback is a huge question. But I think I
- 39:42Speaker 9: think the bigger step that will be taken. I do
- 39:44Speaker 9: not anticipate them to you know, shock the world. But okay,
- 39:48Speaker 9: you win a game against me, there's I think there's
- 39:50Speaker 9: gonna be a couple of wins. You like, Oh, you know,
- 39:52Speaker 9: that's a it's a nice story. That's a nice, you know,
- 39:55Speaker 9: nice win. I think they're gonna return more to the
- 39:58Speaker 9: Gator brand of foot ball that they're looking for that
- 40:02Speaker 9: they may have not had previously. I think there's gonna
- 40:05Speaker 9: be more more of that. Quarterbacks obviously big question. There's
- 40:07Speaker 9: a lot of questions there. You're very unsteady about the
- 40:10Speaker 9: quarterback first year system with some raw Does it all
- 40:13Speaker 9: shake out like you wanted? Yeah, I really stress the
- 40:16Speaker 9: bear with me. I do think there's gonna be.
- 40:20Speaker 5: Some noise.
- 40:21Speaker 6: I don't even have Like I said, I don't even
- 40:23Speaker 6: have them in the top five.
- 40:24Speaker 9: But I'm not I'm not saying that they're going to.
- 40:27Speaker 9: But I just think when when you look at things
- 40:29Speaker 9: on paper and you look at Auburn, you look at
- 40:31Speaker 9: all of the new situation first year SEC coaches, this
- 40:34Speaker 9: one to me, and it may be slightly biased because
- 40:38Speaker 9: I've watched some more two lane football than most casual
- 40:43Speaker 9: or even heavy SEC football watchers or whatever the case is.
- 40:48Speaker 9: It just you like what they had going on, And
- 40:51Speaker 9: maybe it is just the recency bias of watching that,
- 40:54Speaker 9: but that to me jumped out on paper quite a
- 40:57Speaker 9: bit of you know, you could have something there, You
- 41:00Speaker 9: really could, yeah, over overtime put something together. So that's
- 41:04Speaker 9: out of the teams you listed, that's kind of where
- 41:06Speaker 9: I that's where I sit.
- 41:07Speaker 8: Yeah, So for that that middle tier. I like the
- 41:11Speaker 8: Missouri Tigers, especially if Ahmad Hardy is healthy early enough
- 41:17Speaker 8: in the season. You know, he's recovering from some off
- 41:21Speaker 8: the field unfortunate activities there, but very glad that he's
- 41:27Speaker 8: okay after that gunshot wound and he will be ready
- 41:31Speaker 8: for the season. I'm not exactly sure if I don't
- 41:33Speaker 8: think he'll be one hundred percent to start the year,
- 41:35Speaker 8: but you know, they have a few of their easier
- 41:38Speaker 8: games early in the year, so that bodes well if
- 41:40Speaker 8: he's healthy soon. And they also are bringing in Austin
- 41:43Speaker 8: Simmons from Ole, miss who has seen a solid amount
- 41:46Speaker 8: of playing time with the Rebels. I think he's a
- 41:47Speaker 8: pretty solid player, and I like coach coach Drinkwitz with Missouri,
- 41:52Speaker 8: but as far as first year new to the SEC coaches.
- 41:56Speaker 8: So basically, when I say new to the SEC, I'm
- 41:58Speaker 8: just not counting Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding. I really
- 42:01Speaker 8: like Alex Golish with the Auburn Tigers. I think that
- 42:05Speaker 8: at least in year one, they're set up to be
- 42:08Speaker 8: a pretty pretty solid team. And the number one reason
- 42:12Speaker 8: for that outside of coach Golish, I think he's I
- 42:18Speaker 8: think he's a great coach, and he's a really cool story.
- 42:19Speaker 8: I talked about it, I think it was last week.
- 42:21Speaker 8: He was born in Russia and moved to America when
- 42:24Speaker 8: he was seven years old, didn't know anything about football,
- 42:28Speaker 8: didn't speak English, and now he's a head coach in
- 42:31Speaker 8: the SEC. That's that's just a really cool story. But
- 42:33Speaker 8: outside of that, he's has a lot of experience at
- 42:37Speaker 8: a lot of big programs and now gets the opportunity at,
- 42:42Speaker 8: you know, arguably the highest level of college football as
- 42:45Speaker 8: an SEC head coach, and he brings along one of
- 42:50Speaker 8: the best players in the sport, Byron Brown, his quarterback
- 42:54Speaker 8: who last season at South Florida led the Bulls to
- 42:59Speaker 8: a nine to three record in twelve starts and fifty
- 43:04Speaker 8: eight passing yards, twenty eight touchdowns, just seven interceptions while
- 43:08Speaker 8: rushing for one thousand yards and fourteen touchdowns. He is
- 43:12Speaker 8: going to have a big opportunity to prove himself at
- 43:14Speaker 8: the SEC level. And I think that's that's my biggest
- 43:19Speaker 8: factor in why I think.
- 43:20Speaker 5: Auburn will be pretty solid in year one.
- 43:23Speaker 8: Now, when I say solid, I don't know that they're
- 43:24Speaker 8: going to be much better than just qualifying for a Bowl,
- 43:27Speaker 8: but as a for a first year at a program
- 43:31Speaker 8: like Auburn that's had some rough seasons as of late,
- 43:33Speaker 8: I think that would definitely be success for coach Golish.
- 43:36Speaker 9: Do you know who's probably the most excited that it's
- 43:39Speaker 9: on this particular of the two years that Golish comes
- 43:44Speaker 9: in to be the coach of Auburn is probably Kaitlin
- 43:47Speaker 9: de Boor, because if the Iron Bowl is in Auburn
- 43:51Speaker 9: with the new system and with Golish and the new
- 43:54Speaker 9: team there, that team is hard enough to beat in
- 43:57Speaker 9: that in the Iron Bowl, in that stadium, regardless of
- 44:00Speaker 9: how good or bad they are. But thankfully enough for
- 44:03Speaker 9: Debor that's in Alabama this year. But I do think
- 44:07Speaker 9: Golish Golish like will make some noise and could still
- 44:11Speaker 9: potentially have an interesting iron ball. That's always when you
- 44:14Speaker 9: when you look at Auburn football, and until they can
- 44:16Speaker 9: really grow and get back into the heavy contention, that's
- 44:19Speaker 9: the one game they've really made some noise in his
- 44:22Speaker 9: rivalry week, which is where teams do it. And I
- 44:26Speaker 9: do see some growth there for sure. I think I
- 44:30Speaker 9: think I love the Golish story, like you mentioned, and
- 44:34Speaker 9: but it's again it's it's one of those there there
- 44:36Speaker 9: there are caveats now, but there's pieces there and yeah,
- 44:40Speaker 9: that's that's the that's where you try to grow. I
- 44:42Speaker 9: think they're there definitely can be that growth.
- 44:44Speaker 8: Yeah, So we agree that the kind of the top
- 44:46Speaker 8: two names of those new coaches.
- 44:48Speaker 5: Are some aer All and Golish.
- 44:51Speaker 8: So between Silverfield and Stein at Arkansas and Kentucky respectively,
- 44:56Speaker 8: who who do you think is in a better situation
- 44:58Speaker 8: to compete this year? Because I think it's it's really
- 45:03Speaker 8: close and.
- 45:04Speaker 9: I yeah, man, that's so difficult because I don't, to
- 45:09Speaker 9: be truthful, I don't think either one of them are
- 45:11Speaker 9: going to compete very much.
- 45:12Speaker 5: That's fair.
- 45:14Speaker 8: Yeah, they both they both have which everybody has tough
- 45:17Speaker 8: schedules and when you're at the bottom of the league.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Your schedule looks a lot tougher.
- 45:21Speaker 8: It is so unfortunate that that Kentucky has to play
- 45:24Speaker 8: Alabama in week two.
- 45:26Speaker 9: Yeah that then for maybe simply that Arkansas might have
- 45:30Speaker 9: the better edge.
- 45:31Speaker 8: Yeah, well they have at least a little bit more
- 45:33Speaker 8: time before they played Georgia in week three.
- 45:35Speaker 9: So yeah, yeah, I to be truthful, I don't think
- 45:39Speaker 9: either one of them are going to bode very well.
- 45:41Speaker 8: All right, last last question that I want an answer
- 45:45Speaker 8: to before we go to break here and wrap up
- 45:47Speaker 8: our SEC discussion in twenty twenty seven to Shane Bieber.
- 45:52Speaker 8: Is Shane Biemer still the coach of the South Carolina
- 45:54Speaker 8: game Cocks.
- 45:57Speaker 5: What do you think? Yes, Okay, I disagree. I think
- 46:03Speaker 5: I think South Carolina.
- 46:05Speaker 8: Just because they have, you know, and it's really not
- 46:11Speaker 8: that tough on paper early in the season. You know,
- 46:13Speaker 8: they have Mississippi State, Bama, Kentucky, Florida as their first
- 46:16Speaker 8: four SEC games. You know, those are winnable, winnable games
- 46:20Speaker 8: except for Alabama on the road. I don't think they
- 46:22Speaker 8: really have much of a shot in that one. I
- 46:26Speaker 8: just don't think they're gonna be able to get it
- 46:27Speaker 8: done early and by after week six, maybe week eight
- 46:32Speaker 8: when they play Tennessee. I think that Beamer is going
- 46:35Speaker 8: to be gone.
- 46:36Speaker 9: Steal one of those Columbia home games. Yeah, you say
- 46:41Speaker 9: A and M comes to town. I hate to use
- 46:42Speaker 9: A and M as the example, but you win one
- 46:45Speaker 9: of those big ones when you may be unranked, and
- 46:49Speaker 9: then you start to second guess, you know, and who
- 46:51Speaker 9: knows after after this season, it still may not be
- 46:54Speaker 9: the the train may completely fall off, but then you
- 46:57Speaker 9: start to wonder, hey, you know, you get a couple
- 46:59Speaker 9: of those big wins.
- 47:00Speaker 6: They've done it before. Is there still something here could be?
- 47:06Speaker 9: I've sort of am still optimistic, but I'm I guess
- 47:12Speaker 9: optimistic is as far as I'll go.
- 47:13Speaker 6: But yep, for sake of debate.
- 47:15Speaker 8: I'll say yes, Okay, I think so of those first
- 47:18Speaker 8: four games, I think they need to win. If they
- 47:21Speaker 8: can win or you know what, I'll expand it to
- 47:22Speaker 8: five because they played Tennessee week eight. If they can
- 47:25Speaker 8: win three of those five games, I think he gets
- 47:28Speaker 8: to hold onto his job at least through the season.
- 47:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and then we'll kind of see where they're at
- 47:33Speaker 5: after that.
- 47:33Speaker 8: But that's going to wrap up our sec discussion. When
- 47:36Speaker 8: we come back We're going to preview tonight's Brass Valley
- 47:40Speaker 8: Bombers game in Game two of the Semi Finals and
- 47:43Speaker 8: the TCL against the Victoria Generals. But first, the Rangers
- 47:48Speaker 8: Report brought to you by a Shorlty Roofing and Decker
- 47:51Speaker 8: Financial Group.
- 47:52Speaker 15: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 47:54Speaker 15: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around and then
- 47:57Speaker 15: I found Shorlty Roofing, and boy, I'm glad I did.
- 48:00Speaker 15: The folks at Shulty guided me every step.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Of the way.
- 48:02Speaker 15: They showed me my options, They told me what my
- 48:05Speaker 15: out of pocket cost would be after insurance. They took
- 48:08Speaker 15: the complication out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They
- 48:11Speaker 15: took off the damage roof, put on the new roof,
- 48:13Speaker 15: did all the clean up, and I had my new
- 48:15Speaker 15: roof in one day, the whole roof.
- 48:24Speaker 16: I'm Adam C with your Texas Rangers Reports. The Rangers
- 48:27Speaker 16: opened up their three game series against the Tampa Bay

- 49:02Speaker 16: The Texas Rangers won the opening game of their road
- 49:05Speaker 16: series against the Tampa Bay Rays last night, final score
- 49:09Speaker 16: for to one. The Rangers got on the board first,
- 49:11Speaker 16: scoring two runs off a couple sacrifice flies in the
- 49:14Speaker 16: first three innings. Austin Wins added another run in the
- 49:18Speaker 16: sixth inning off a solo blast, and the Rangers won
- 49:21Speaker 16: behind their pitching.

- 50:52Speaker 8: Final segment of Tip Howard Sports Talk here on the
- 50:56Speaker 8: Zone eleven to fifty am ninety three point seven FM.
- 50:59Speaker 8: Caleb Rapoli here in the host chair alongside Andrew Rapsolver,
- 51:03Speaker 8: the play by play broadcaster for the Brasses Valley Bombers
- 51:07Speaker 8: here on the zone, and last night we had game
- 51:11Speaker 8: one of the TCL playoffs. Unfortunately Bombers coming up short
- 51:18Speaker 8: in that one at home, and it was it was
- 51:22Speaker 8: an exciting game and the Bombers, you know, we're on
- 51:24Speaker 8: top for a lot of it and then kind of
- 51:27Speaker 8: all fell apart at the end, ended up taking the loss.
- 51:33Speaker 8: So in eight to four, eight to four loss at home.
- 51:36Speaker 8: Now they have to go on the road and win
- 51:38Speaker 8: two against the Victoria Generals. So you know, kind of
- 51:42Speaker 8: what are your thoughts coming out of out of the
- 51:44Speaker 8: game last night, and maybe how do you think they're
- 51:49Speaker 8: going to bounce back tonight?
- 51:51Speaker 9: Well, I thought last night it started off really really
- 51:55Speaker 9: well in terms of the pitching for both sides. Austin
- 52:01Speaker 9: Ford through for the Bombers and Jacob Rees through for Victoria,
- 52:06Speaker 9: and you go through the first five innings of the
- 52:07Speaker 9: game and only believe it was two or three hits
- 52:11Speaker 9: allowed combined by both by both pitchers, and then you
- 52:15Speaker 9: get into the sixth inning and the Bombers put up
- 52:17Speaker 9: four runs, including a multi run home run by Tanner Cooper,
- 52:21Speaker 9: who's been pretty much the best player consistently all season
- 52:26Speaker 9: for them, and he tied the single season Bombers record
- 52:28Speaker 9: for home runs. To match that at seven last night,
- 52:32Speaker 9: he has an opportunity to break that. All the playoff
- 52:34Speaker 9: stats go count as well for the regular season, and
- 52:38Speaker 9: it really looked it looked good. There were some times
- 52:42Speaker 9: earlier in the season where the wind blew out of
- 52:44Speaker 9: the sail in late innings where you could let up
- 52:48Speaker 9: a lot of runs and then it just bit them
- 52:50Speaker 9: at the worst time. We went into it and laybel
- 52:52Speaker 9: all the offensive stats in Victoria. There's so many categories
- 52:56Speaker 9: with tied first for home runs and RBIs extra base hits,
- 53:01Speaker 9: a total of plate appearances, and it has so many
- 53:04Speaker 9: offensive categories where they're at the top. And we talked
- 53:07Speaker 9: about it in the pregame show about it was going
- 53:09Speaker 9: to take eight or ten runs to even think about winning.
- 53:14Speaker 9: We're going into the sixth inning it won nothing, and
- 53:17Speaker 9: I'm starting to think, well, we were totally totally wrong
- 53:20Speaker 9: on that, and then final score is eight to four.
- 53:22Speaker 9: The Victoria is so potent and so dangerous and they
- 53:26Speaker 9: could beat you a lot of ways, and they did
- 53:28Speaker 9: just that. It was a great environment out in Avisota
- 53:31Speaker 9: and a great crowd on hand for game one. I
- 53:34Speaker 9: think starting strong is going to be the key to
- 53:36Speaker 9: win game two. But you go to you have a
- 53:38Speaker 9: three game series, and the job is simple. When when
- 53:41Speaker 9: it comes down to something like this in playoffs, you're
- 53:44Speaker 9: trying to whether it for baseball, trying to force a
- 53:46Speaker 9: game five or game seven, in this potential, this area,
- 53:49Speaker 9: game three, win one game. Anything can happen in game three.
- 53:53Speaker 9: We've seen crazy things happen before. Just go win tonight,
- 53:56Speaker 9: don't you don't have don't worry about winning two. Yeah,
- 53:58Speaker 9: so that's the big thing. Start strong, get early runs.
- 54:01Speaker 6: I think.
- 54:04Speaker 9: Not having it beat till the sixth inning when your
- 54:07Speaker 9: first offensive outburst is I think that's going to be
- 54:10Speaker 9: to try to be the message is start stronger earlier.
- 54:13Speaker 9: I think that'll be the key to winning game two.
- 54:16Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's it was just a very unfortunate way
- 54:18Speaker 5: to lose.
- 54:18Speaker 17: Yeh.
- 54:19Speaker 5: Top of the eighth, they.
- 54:20Speaker 8: Were up four to two, got the first two outs
- 54:23Speaker 8: by way of strikeout, and then a walk, a wild pitch,
- 54:27Speaker 8: an error, another walk, another walk, hit, and then a
- 54:32Speaker 8: home run and five run eighth inning for the Generals
- 54:35Speaker 8: just kind of took all the wind out of the Sales.
- 54:38Speaker 9: The only thing more painful than you just reading that now,
- 54:41Speaker 9: was when I wrote it in my score book last night. Okay, strikeout, strikeout,
- 54:45Speaker 9: and then it's a walk, okay, okay, then home run.
- 54:48Speaker 6: It's like, oh man. So it was.
- 54:51Speaker 9: It was a frustrating into that one. Great energy by
- 54:56Speaker 9: both teams, though you know, all of these guys go
- 55:00Speaker 9: to the play for their respective colleges and this is
- 55:03Speaker 9: about growth and this is about exposure for summer league.
- 55:07Speaker 9: But the environment between those two teams last night, you
- 55:11Speaker 9: tell them, this is a league you've been playing in
- 55:13Speaker 9: all summer, and this is a playoff game. They treated
- 55:15Speaker 9: it like a playoff game, and they were fully fully
- 55:19Speaker 9: you you could hear both dug outs the loudest you
- 55:22Speaker 9: had all season, and it was it was a fun
- 55:24Speaker 9: environment to be a part of. And we certainly hope
- 55:27Speaker 9: they can go down the go down the road to
- 55:30Speaker 9: Victoria and win a game too, and for the force
- 55:33Speaker 9: the game three, which would be there again tomorrow night,
- 55:35Speaker 9: and that those games are on TCL TV and they'll
- 55:37Speaker 9: be covered by the great broadcast crew of the Victoria Generals,
- 55:42Speaker 9: and we hope, we hope we can maybe still see
- 55:46Speaker 9: some baseball after that. See championship game Saturday, right, hope, Right?
- 55:50Speaker 8: All right, Well, you can catch that game at seven
- 55:53Speaker 8: o'clock tonight and we will react to it tomorrow. Andrew
- 55:57Speaker 8: and I will be back on sports Talk tomorrow at four.
- 55:59Speaker 8: But that's about all the time we have. We'll take
- 56:01Speaker 8: one more break and then we'll get you out of here.
- 56:04Speaker 8: This is Chip Howard, Sports Talk on the Zone.
