- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, here with Luna. Luna: Ciao! And I'm so ready to learn today. But Lucas, it's getting chilly outside, don't you think? Lucas: It really is. Perfect timing, because today we're talking about cold weather. Our first phrase is: 'Fa freddo.' Luna: Fa freddo. That means 'It's cold,' right? Lucas: Exactly. Say it with me: 'Fa freddo.' Luna: Fa freddo. Lucas: Good. Now, if you want to say 'I'm cold,' you say 'Ho freddo.' Luna: Ho freddo. That's useful. So 'fa' is for the weather, and 'ho' is for how I feel? Lucas: Exactly right. 'Fa freddo' is about the weather, 'Ho freddo' is about your body. Let's hear you say it. Luna: Ho freddo. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if it's really cold, you can say 'Fa molto freddo.' Luna: Fa molto freddo. 'Molto' means 'very,' so 'It's very cold.' Lucas: Yes. And when it's cold, you might tell someone 'Metti il cappotto' — 'Put on your coat.' Luna: Metti il cappotto. That's a nice phrase for winter mornings. Lucas: It is. And if you're not cold, you can say 'Non ho freddo.' Luna: Non ho freddo. I'm not cold. Let me try all of them together. Lucas: Go for it. Luna: Fa freddo. Ho freddo. Fa molto freddo. Metti il cappotto. Non ho freddo. Lucas: You did it. Let's use them in a quick scene. Imagine we're outside. I say 'Fa freddo oggi.' Luna: Then I say 'Ho freddo! Metti il cappotto?' Lucas: Close. 'Metti il cappotto' is a command. So I'd say 'Metti il cappotto' to you. You could say 'Sì, metto il cappotto.' Luna: Sì, metto il cappotto. Yes, I put on the coat. Got it. Lucas: And now you try a full exchange. I'll say 'Fa molto freddo oggi!' Luna: Ho freddo! Metti il cappotto? Lucas: You said 'Metti il cappotto?' as a question. Good. But I'd respond 'Sì, metto il cappotto.' Or if I'm not cold, 'Non ho freddo.' Luna: Right. So I could say 'Ho freddo' and you say 'Metti il cappotto.' That works. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice once more. Repeat after me: 'Fa freddo.' Luna: Fa freddo. Lucas: 'Ho freddo.' Luna: Ho freddo. Lucas: 'Metti il cappotto.' Luna: Metti il cappotto. Lucas: 'Fa molto freddo.' Luna: Fa molto freddo. Lucas: 'Non ho freddo.' Luna: Non ho freddo. Lucas: You've got them. And you know, if Fexingo has been helping you make real progress with Italian, we'd love your support. Luna: That's a great way to keep the lessons coming. And I'm so grateful for everyone who listens. Now, back to the cold – I think I'll use 'Ho freddo' a lot this week. Lucas: Same. So let's do one more quick scene. Imagine you're at home, it's cold. You say 'Fa freddo in casa.' Luna: Fa freddo in casa. Then I say 'Ho freddo! Metti il cappotto?' Lucas: Perfect. And I answer 'Sì, metto il cappotto. Fa molto freddo oggi.' Luna: Great. So next time it's cold, I'll know what to say. Lucas: Exactly. Practice these phrases, and we'll see you next time for more Italian on Fexingo.
