- 0:15Speaker 2: of course Twitter and substack. A lot of stuff on
- 0:18Speaker 2: substack you'll like. Let's go to a culture dot substack
- 0:22Speaker 2: dot com and culture.
- 0:24Speaker 3: How you doing fantastic? How are you, Mark Simone?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Good? Where are you.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Amsterdam?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Amsterdam?
- 0:33Speaker 3: Yes?
- 0:34Speaker 2: How come the line sounds clearer in Amsterdam than when
- 0:37Speaker 2: you're here. It's one hundred times better.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Well, I to borrow my friend's iPhone. My iPhone broke,
- 0:45Speaker 1: so I'm phone less for the next few days. But
- 0:49Speaker 1: soon I'll have a new iPhone, so I'll be clear
- 0:51Speaker 1: as a bell.
- 0:54Speaker 2: It's crystal clear right now. Just fly to Amsterdam every
- 0:58Speaker 2: week when you do this and talk from there.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Well, that's assuming I'm blaming your phone system for the
- 1:02Speaker 1: problems with that in the past.
- 1:04Speaker 2: But what are you doing in Amsterdam? What is there
- 1:06Speaker 2: to do in Amsterdam?
- 1:08Speaker 1: It's fabulous, it's beautiful. Well, you know I'm part Dutch.
- 1:12Speaker 1: How would I know that to my Dutch ancestors. Well,
- 1:17Speaker 1: I dedicated one of my books to one of my
- 1:20Speaker 1: Dutch ancestors who assisted with the revolutionary side f e
- 1:25Speaker 1: Tennaike van Vreck and I've been to the Netherlands before,
- 1:28Speaker 1: i haven't been to Amsterdam, and I've been dying to
- 1:31Speaker 1: come here. It is, it is even more wonderful than
- 1:33Speaker 1: I imagined it would be.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Well, what's so wonderful, what are you doing Amsterdam?
- 1:39Speaker 3: Well, it's a beautiful city.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You know, it's all canals and I'm going to talk
- 1:43Speaker 1: a little bit about it on my Substack and Rumble
- 1:46Speaker 1: video which would be live tomorrow. It's unbelievably beautiful. You
- 1:51Speaker 1: can take canal rides, and of course you have all
- 1:54Speaker 1: the Dutch masters at their reich Museum here. I mean,
- 1:58Speaker 1: it's just unbelievable what Dutch people were doing in the
- 2:01Speaker 1: seventeen hundreds, both in terms of you know, building, architecture, shipbuilding.
- 2:06Speaker 1: They've had a huge influence on America, even though there
- 2:10Speaker 1: were very few of them, only about three thousand Dutch
- 2:13Speaker 1: people came to America before before in colonial times. But
- 2:19Speaker 1: the Dutch were always traders. They were never you know,
- 2:22Speaker 1: taking territory. They weren't like the English coming over, and
- 2:25Speaker 1: the Dutch were concerned about all the British coming over
- 2:29Speaker 1: who were coming to stay, moving in and much like
- 2:32Speaker 1: Americans today, with the mass wave of immigration from the
- 2:36Speaker 1: Third World, the Dutch were worried that the British would.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Overwhelm them, and oh boy did they.
- 2:43Speaker 1: But basically, anyone who had a a is related to
- 2:48Speaker 1: a Dutch person here around before or the time of
- 2:51Speaker 1: the Revolution. They're all related to one another of villains
- 2:56Speaker 1: Bogarty Bogart Dutch, Bruce Springsteen Dutch, Walter Kronkit Walter Kronkite Dutch,
- 3:05Speaker 1: and you know what, cronkite. They have a funny way
- 3:07Speaker 1: of naming, giving giving surnames for centuries. You know, nobody
- 3:14Speaker 1: had surnames that sort of developed in in the Middle Ages.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You didn't really need to know you only need to
- 3:19Speaker 1: know somebody's first name. There's Egor, and everybody knows Igor.
- 3:23Speaker 1: So it's only when we had more people that we
- 3:25Speaker 1: even needed surnames. So they the Dutch surnames tend to
- 3:30Speaker 1: describe the person like where they're.
- 3:32Speaker 3: From, or son of or the tall something like that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So Konkrite cronkite, as in Walter Cronkite, Cronkite means sickly sickly.
- 3:46Speaker 3: How do you like getting that name? And you you
- 3:48Speaker 3: will be sickly? This is also am I getting you?
- 3:52Speaker 3: This is getting boring.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The Dutch are also responsible for the name of our
- 3:56Speaker 1: favorite sports team, the Yankees.
- 3:59Speaker 3: What books. The Dutch made fun of the British.
- 4:02Speaker 1: They thought they were all names John, which in uh
- 4:06Speaker 1: in Dutch is is yon. And and by the way,
- 4:10Speaker 1: they are all names John. They were all names John.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I have a million John's in my family at one point. Well,
- 4:18Speaker 1: my brother, my father, my roommate, my officemate, my best friend,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and my boyfriend were all names John. It got very
- 4:26Speaker 1: confusing talking about any of them. In any event, They
- 4:30Speaker 1: thought all the British were named John, so to make
- 4:32Speaker 1: fun of them, they called them Yankees.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Really, and that's how the new Yes.
- 4:38Speaker 3: That's where we got Yankees.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Well, this is actually pretty interesting now. Uh So Amsterdam,
- 4:45Speaker 2: I never thought about that. It's a nice but that
- 4:47Speaker 2: sounds like a great place to visit. Everything's of Italy
- 4:51Speaker 2: or France. Amsterdam sounds very nice.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and for the cautious traveler, uh, we've seen very
- 5:00Speaker 1: few Muslims.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Well mind a few Muslims, but so it's not like
- 5:05Speaker 2: a great Britain getting overrun by illegals and all that.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Well, they aren't illegals.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You keep making this legal illegal thing other countries. I
- 5:15Speaker 1: mean I've talked to obviously, I know some Dutch people.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I've talked to a lot of Dutch people. They consider it.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Bless their little heart, it's a huge problem. So it
- 5:24Speaker 1: may be. Well, what my experience in London is, which
- 5:27Speaker 1: is you don't really see well, you see a fair
- 5:30Speaker 1: number of them in London, but they're the fancy, rich
- 5:32Speaker 1: ones in London. And when I refer to Muslims, most
- 5:37Speaker 1: of the quote migrants coming, it's not just that they're Muslim.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I have plenty of Muslim friends. They're lovely, they're educated.
- 5:44Speaker 1: The first Muslims we started to get, you know, from
- 5:47Speaker 1: back in the seventies, eighties, nineties, they tended to be
- 5:51Speaker 1: doctors educated. It's only recently that we're just taking as
- 5:56Speaker 1: Trump said, they're not sending their best. We're getting the
- 5:59Speaker 1: dregs of every country, every religion. The other are a
- 6:03Speaker 1: few good ones, as Trump said, I'm sure some of
- 6:07Speaker 1: them are fine people. But when I say so, I'm
- 6:12Speaker 1: not being I'm not being snotty and mean about Muslims
- 6:16Speaker 1: by saying I see very few Muslims, but I do
- 6:19Speaker 1: expect to see Dutch people when I come to the Netherlands,
- 6:21Speaker 1: just as I expect to see French people when I
- 6:23Speaker 1: go to Paris and British people when I go to one.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Sounds pretty good. Hey, I don't know if you're following
- 6:28Speaker 2: what's going on here. Last night we had a primary night,
- 6:30Speaker 2: Democratic primary night, every crazy Kami backed by mom Dommy one.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Last night. The only good news is George Conway was
- 6:39Speaker 2: humiliated out of the race.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Oh yes, I've been all over this.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I will also be talking about that in my Rumble
- 6:49Speaker 1: video tomorrow. I'm not sure if you were aware of this,
- 6:55Speaker 1: but George Conway used to be my best friend. I
- 6:58Speaker 1: introduced him to Kelly. There was no daylight between our positions.
- 7:04Speaker 1: We worked on the Paula Jones case together. But even
- 7:07Speaker 1: before that, when I was wearing a law firm in
- 7:09Speaker 1: New York, we we we were fast friends.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Uh and mostly over over politics? Man? Has he changed?
- 7:20Speaker 2: And how explain this transition to lunatic? What caused that?
- 7:27Speaker 3: So many people? I don't know if this happened to you.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Trump really broke people's brains I know that's a cliche,
- 7:36Speaker 1: but I think it's true. I've never had this, this
- 7:39Speaker 1: happened before with any other I mean, I've had disagreements
- 7:42Speaker 1: with friends.
- 7:43Speaker 3: And even among you know, Republican friends.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Forget I expect the liberals and friends and me to disagree,
- 7:52Speaker 1: but we've had disagreements about presidential.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Candidates or presidents.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I've actually lost three friends over Trump who used to
- 8:02Speaker 1: be too in particular, used to be absolutely rock solid
- 8:06Speaker 1: right wingers. Very little we would disagree on, and they
- 8:10Speaker 1: so flipped out over Trump. I mean, you know, I'm
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'm annoyed at Trump are a more more first term
- 8:17Speaker 1: than second term second term. I'm only annoyed about Epstein
- 8:21Speaker 1: and the stupid Iran war, which I'm so happy he's
- 8:24Speaker 1: finally going to end, along with the vast majority of
- 8:27Speaker 1: other Americans. But that doesn't make me change my position
- 8:33Speaker 1: on every other issue under the sign. These two right
- 8:37Speaker 1: wingers who shall go unnamed other than the one who
- 8:40Speaker 1: just came in dead last in a congressional race in
- 8:45Speaker 1: New York, they're changing their positions on you know, on immigration,
- 8:51Speaker 1: on teachers, unions, on crime.
- 8:55Speaker 3: It's it's unbelievable.
- 8:56Speaker 1: You don't have to give up everything you've ever believed.
- 8:59Speaker 3: In just because you don't like Trump.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but George Conway, he lived in a Trump building.
- 9:05Speaker 2: He knew Trump. Why did he go so crazy?
- 9:07Speaker 1: What?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Your He lived in a Trump building for years?
- 9:10Speaker 3: Why didn't he do what?
- 9:11Speaker 2: Why did he go so crazy? He lived in a
- 9:13Speaker 2: Trump building? Obviously he liked Trump at one point.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Well, no, I think even more than that. Back in
- 9:20Speaker 1: twenty sixteen when Trump was first running. George was for
- 9:25Speaker 1: Trump before Kelly Anne Wasnmber.
- 9:27Speaker 3: She was working for Cruise up until the last one.
- 9:30Speaker 2: That's right, Yeah, yeah, So.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So Trump's policies were very much in line with what
- 9:38Speaker 1: George Conway and I agreed with on all kinds of things.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So I don't know, but he isn't He is not
- 9:47Speaker 1: my only friend that has made a dramatic shift like this.
- 9:51Speaker 2: So he lost so badly. He came in sixth place,
- 9:54Speaker 2: He got like a couple thousand votes. I mean, he
- 9:56Speaker 2: was humiliating. Do you think he got the message that
- 9:58Speaker 2: he can never run for anything?
- 10:02Speaker 3: I think so.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I mean he's very it may be hard to believe.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I think some of the things he's done and said
- 10:09Speaker 1: are crazy. I mean, wearing that T shirt I am
- 10:11Speaker 1: Antifa kind of knocks my socks off. But he's actually
- 10:16Speaker 1: very smart, he's very clever, and he's really funny.
- 10:20Speaker 3: It's it's really sad.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I'm smiling and laughing about it because it's so unbelievable,
- 10:26Speaker 1: But if you make me really think.
- 10:28Speaker 3: About it, it's sad that I've lost this friend.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Ye.
- 10:31Speaker 2: No, he was a top, top attorney, obviously very smart.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But you're right. Trump just drives people insane, literally insane.
- 10:38Speaker 2: So well, I'm afraid I like.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It when it's Democrats that makes me laugh.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That was, as I've said many times, that was the
- 10:46Speaker 1: theme of my last book, Resistance is futile. Liberals goes
- 10:51Speaker 1: so crazy over Trump they can't oppose him effectively. There
- 10:56Speaker 1: are I mean, if they could just calm down. It's
- 11:00Speaker 1: it's like what you always tell people, or you are told,
- 11:03Speaker 1: one is told, you know, don't react in anger, don't
- 11:06Speaker 1: act when you're still, when you're still upset about something.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Calm down. Revenge is best serves cold.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Liberals cannot do what they cannot do, what they so
- 11:16Speaker 1: hate Trump, they lose their minds and that's why they
- 11:18Speaker 1: are quote resistance is so ineffective.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Well, actually, everybody should get go go get that book,
- 11:23Speaker 2: read and read it. If you haven't read it, Resistance
- 11:25Speaker 2: is Feudle. It'll make you feel good when you read
- 11:27Speaker 2: that book. Also, make sure you watch and Culture on Rumble.
