- 2:43That is what the master topic is for
- 2:46this entire week.
- 2:48Yes, that's what the master topic is.
- 2:51And it's a pretty good one.
- 2:54And today's granular topic for Wednesday is learn
- 2:59to enjoy the life happening right now.
- 3:02Series 5, show 34, episode number 5.
- 3:06It's Wednesday.
- 3:08Yes, guys.
- 3:09Welcome once again to the ever-popular Inspirations
- 3:12for Your Life show here.
- 3:16I'm John C.
- 3:17Morley, a serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video
- 3:22producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student
- 3:28at Montclair State University, a passionate lifelong learner,
- 3:32and so grateful now to be a published
- 3:34author.
- 3:35Welcome, everyone.
- 3:37A question for you.
- 3:38How often do we tell ourselves that we'll
- 3:40enjoy life after the next goal, the next
- 3:43project, the next achievement, or the next problem
- 3:46getting resolved?
- 3:46The danger is that there will always be
- 3:49something next on the pike.
- 3:51Today isn't about abandoning a mission.
- 3:54It's about making sure you don't become so
- 3:58focused on building tomorrow that you miss the
- 4:01life you actually are living today, being present
- 4:04in the moment.
- 4:05Let's explore 30 ways, okay, to enjoy the
- 4:08life happening right now in your life.
- 4:10Number one, stop rushing toward the next milestone.
- 4:14I know you want to get there, and
- 4:15you will, but let's enjoy the milestone we're
- 4:18in right now.
- 4:20Goals give us direction, but life isn't only
- 4:24the space between accomplishments.
- 4:25Don't move so quickly toward the next destination
- 4:29that you miss everything happening along the way.
- 4:33Number two, guys, notice what is already good
- 4:37in your life.
- 4:38Notice what is already good in your life.
- 4:40I think that's an important piece, all right?
- 4:44Very, very important piece.
- 4:46We naturally notice problems because problems demand attention.
- 4:52Deliberately notice what's working, too, and something doesn't
- 4:57have to be perfect before it can be
- 4:58appreciated.
- 5:00Number three, guys, enjoy progress before completion.
- 5:04You don't have to wait until the finish
- 5:06line to feel good about what you're building.
- 5:09Progress deserves recognition because every meaningful accomplishment begins
- 5:14with smaller steps.
- 5:16Number four, stop treating today like a waiting
- 5:20room.
- 5:21Today isn't merely where you sit until something
- 5:24better happens.
- 5:25Give this day value of its own.
- 5:27Instead of continually postponing your life, enjoy the
- 5:30moment you're in right now.
- 5:33That tea is very good.
- 5:35Number five, pay attention to ordinary pleasures.
- 5:39Pay attention to them.
- 5:41A good meal, favorite song, beautiful afternoon, interesting
- 5:46conversation, or peaceful moment may seem small, but
- 5:49these experiences may make up enormous portions of
- 5:55our lives, and that's important to recognize.
- 5:58Number six, let yourself celebrate small victories.
- 6:01Not every victory needs fireworks.
- 6:03Sometimes it could be simply acknowledging that something
- 6:07went well.
- 6:07It gives your mind a chance to recognize
- 6:10progress instead of immediately searching for another problem.
- 6:14Stop moving the finish line.
- 6:17You reach the goal and immediately create another
- 6:21one.
- 6:21Growth is great, but constantly moving the finish
- 6:25line can make success feel permanently unreachable.
- 6:30Number eight, appreciate what once felt impossible.
- 6:35Look around at something in your life that
- 6:38you once hoped for, worked toward, or weren't
- 6:42sure you could accomplish.
- 6:44What once seemed extraordinary may now feel normal.
- 6:47Don't forget what it took to get there.
- 6:50Number nine, notice how far you've already traveled.
- 6:54We spend so much time measuring the distance
- 6:56ahead that we forget to look behind us
- 6:58occasionally.
- 6:59Compare where you are today with where you
- 7:03actually started, and you'll be pretty surprised and
- 7:06impressed.
- 7:07Number 10, enjoy people while they're present.
- 7:11Don't assume there will always be another conversation
- 7:15or another opportunity to spend time together.
- 7:18Give people your attention while they're actually in
- 7:21front of you.
- 7:22Yeah, and be respectful toward them.
- 7:26Number 11, stop waiting for everything to improve.
- 7:30I know a lot of people out there
- 7:31are like, I don't want to do anything
- 7:33until this improves.
- 7:35Okay, I get the point, but we need
- 7:37to be in the moment in our lives.
- 7:40That's a very key point.
- 7:42Number 11, stop waiting for everything to improve.
- 7:44And what I also want to say is
- 7:45there will probably always be something you'd like
- 7:48to change in your life.
- 7:50Don't make perfect circumstances a requirement for experiencing
- 7:53something good today.
- 7:55Number 12, find value inside imperfect days.
- 8:00A difficult day can still contain a great
- 8:03conversation, useful lesson, unexpected laugh, or peaceful moments.
- 8:09Imperfection doesn't erase everything good around it.
- 8:12No.
- 8:13It allows us to be able to appreciate
- 8:15what's going on in our life.
- 8:17Number 13, give yourself permission to feel satisfied.
- 8:23Satisfaction doesn't mean you stop growing.
- 8:26You can appreciate where you are while remaining
- 8:30excited about where you're going.
- 8:33I think that's an important piece, guys.
- 8:36Number 14, notice experiences money can't replace.
- 8:41Some of life's most valuable experiences don't have
- 8:44a price tag.
- 8:44Trust, friendship, laughter, time, connection, curiosity, and meaningful
- 8:51conversations, as they cannot simply be purchased.
- 8:56The value of understanding money can buy some
- 8:58things, but it can't buy a lot of
- 9:00things in our own personal life.
- 9:02And I think the sooner we understand that,
- 9:05the sooner we realize that a big part
- 9:07of our success is relationships, is communication, is
- 9:11connection.
- 9:12I think that's a real big one that
- 9:16we often miss because we're so into jumping
- 9:19through the next hurdle that we haven't thought
- 9:21about what's happening right now.
- 9:24We haven't thought about what's happening right now.
- 9:26And I think those are things that maybe
- 9:28some of us are going to say, wait
- 9:29a minute, I didn't quite get that.
- 9:31I didn't quite understand that.
- 9:33But when we become in the moment, we
- 9:37start to appreciate things.
- 9:39We get insights, have better creativity.
- 9:44Number 15, stop comparing today's life to somebody
- 9:48else's.
- 9:50I know that might sound like something you
- 9:52should do because you're like, well, they're here
- 9:54and I'm there.
- 9:55Everybody's different.
- 9:57Comparison can make something good suddenly feel inadequate.
- 10:01You don't know the full reality behind someone
- 10:03else's life.
- 10:05And when you start analyzing it, it can
- 10:08make you feel down.
- 10:10You don't know what they went through.
- 10:13They don't know what you went through.
- 10:15Measure your progress against your own direction.
- 10:19I think that's one that I think we
- 10:20all have to learn.
- 10:22And once we learn it, we can appreciate
- 10:24where we're coming from or where everybody else
- 10:26is coming from.
- 10:27All right.
- 10:28I think that's something that may take some
- 10:32people years to learn.
- 10:33But I want to tell you that once
- 10:36you learn that lesson, you'll be very appreciative
- 10:40to who you are, to what you're doing
- 10:42and what you're actually going to accomplish in
- 10:45life.
- 10:46Right.
- 10:46That's a that's a very, very important thing
- 10:49for us to acknowledge.
- 10:51Right.
- 10:52Very important to acknowledge.
- 10:55And when we acknowledge this, we're going to
- 10:57start to realize one thing, that we are
- 10:59in the moment.
- 11:01You're in the moment.
- 11:03We're living in the present.
- 11:06We're living intentionally.
- 11:09We didn't just show up.
- 11:11We are living intentionally.
- 11:13I think that's probably one of the biggest
- 11:15things that I can actually tell you, that
- 11:18we are living intentionally in our lives.
- 11:23I think that's a very, that's a very
- 11:24powerful thing for us to us to realize.
- 11:28Number 16, enjoy what doesn't need improvement.
- 11:31Not everything needs optimization.
- 11:35Sometimes something is already good.
- 11:38Let it be good without immediately searching for
- 11:40a way to upgrade it.
- 11:42OK, I know lots of times we want
- 11:45to make things better and there's nothing wrong
- 11:46with that.
- 11:47But if something is good the way it
- 11:49is and we're enjoying it, we don't want
- 11:51to change that.
- 11:52We want to keep things the way they
- 11:54are, like right now.
- 11:56Right.
- 11:57That's a that's a very key thing.
- 11:59But a lot of people, because they're analyzing
- 12:01other people, they get stuck.
- 12:06And they don't even know they're stuck.
- 12:09They get depressed and they get apathy and
- 12:12they decide they're inferior and they don't do
- 12:15anything.
- 12:16That all happens because of one thing.
- 12:18You know what happens, why that happens?
- 12:20It happens because of the emotional change that
- 12:25happens in our life.
- 12:26And that happens basically when we put ourselves
- 12:30down and make ourselves feel inadequate.
- 12:35It causes a chemical change and that can
- 12:38cause depression.
- 12:39That can cause apathy where we just don't
- 12:42want to do things.
- 12:43And guys, I hate to break this to
- 12:45you, but that's the beginning signs of burnout.
- 12:47All right.
- 12:49Number 17, let accomplishment actually register with you.
- 12:53When you accomplish something meaningful, stop long enough
- 12:58to recognize it.
- 12:59You work for it.
- 13:01Give your mind a chance to understand that
- 13:03something changed because of your effort.
- 13:08Number 18, stop turning every victim to another
- 13:11alignment.
- 13:13I know so many people are like, well,
- 13:14I just accomplished this.
- 13:15I got to do this next and this
- 13:16next.
- 13:17And they don't enjoy the moment of where
- 13:20they are and what they have accomplished.
- 13:24You finish one goal and you immediately ask,
- 13:28well, what's next?
- 13:29We need to enjoy the goal that we're
- 13:31working on or that we've completed.
- 13:35And be grateful for it before creating another
- 13:37task.
- 13:39Experience the victory you just earned.
- 13:41You know, relax in it.
- 13:42Bask in it.
- 13:44Don't be ready to just, you know, hit
- 13:48clear and reset.
- 13:50You worked hard for that accomplishment.
- 13:54You deserve to get a reward and celebrate
- 13:57it.
- 13:58Don't just move on, guys.
- 14:00Number 14, be present for your own progress.
- 14:07Don't become a spectator to your achievements.
- 14:10Notice yourself learning, improving, adapting and becoming more
- 14:17capable.
- 14:22Our capability is something that we feed or
- 14:28starve based on our perceptions.
- 14:34Our perceptions predicate what we're doing in our
- 14:37life.
- 14:39OK, that's probably one of the most important
- 14:42things that that I can share with you.
- 14:45Number 20, notice the moments you'll someday miss.
- 14:52Ordinary routines can become precious memories later and
- 14:58a familiar place.
- 15:00Regular conversation, daily ritual or time with someone
- 15:04you care about may someday be something you
- 15:08wish you could experience again and again.
- 15:12So I think it's important that we become
- 15:18present every part of our life.
- 15:21Our life becomes intentional in everything we do.
- 15:23I think that's a really important thing.
- 15:26We need to become intentional in everything that
- 15:30we do.
- 15:32Number 21, guys, enjoy the conversations without an
- 15:39objective.
- 15:40What does that mean?
- 15:45Enjoy the experience from, you know, the words
- 15:50that you're hearing, the person you're with, but
- 15:53also the opportunity to take in knowledge.
- 16:01To take in knowledge.
- 16:03That's a very important thing.
- 16:05So enjoy the conversations without an objective.
- 16:08Not every conversation needs to generate a lead,
- 16:14solve a problem, teach something or accomplish a
- 16:17task.
- 16:17Sometimes talking with another person is valuable simply
- 16:22because you enjoy the connection.
- 16:27The connection.
- 16:29Maybe you realize you're both like each other
- 16:32and you have similarities and that gets you
- 16:36to bond better than with anyone else.
- 16:42You're not trying to impress the other person.
- 16:45You're not trying to tell them that you're
- 16:47better than them.
- 16:48You're just trying to enjoy life and take
- 16:53it step by step.
- 16:55Do you know a lot of people that
- 16:56take things step by step or do you
- 16:58basically say to yourself, John, I have no
- 17:01clue what you're talking about.
- 17:03This goes back to the whole concept of
- 17:05being intentional, right?
- 17:06If we are intentional in our life, our
- 17:12attitude changes.
- 17:14The right energy falls into our life and
- 17:18the bad energy, mismatch, just falls to the
- 17:23side.
- 17:27But this takes practice, guys.
- 17:28This does not happen overnight.
- 17:31Doesn't happen overnight.
- 17:33Number 22, let ordinary experiences matter.
- 17:38You don't need extraordinary events every week to
- 17:44have a meaningful life.
- 17:46You don't need grand gestures every day.
- 17:50Ordinary meals, walks, drives, conversations, and quiet evenings,
- 17:55guess what, guys?
- 17:56They all count too.
- 17:58It could be anything from a fancy dinner
- 18:03all the way up to just making yourself
- 18:05something simple at home and enjoying and being
- 18:10grateful for that meal.
- 18:12Maybe you ordered out.
- 18:14Maybe it's just a slice of pizza.
- 18:16But being grateful for that moment that you
- 18:18have to sit there and to enjoy the
- 18:22food and the beverage that you are able
- 18:26to take part in.
- 18:28Number 23, guys, I ask you to stop,
- 18:33stop, stop requiring extraordinary circumstances because people looking
- 18:39for extraordinary circumstances, oftentimes they talk themselves out
- 18:45of where they're really going, okay?
- 18:47Not because they want to, but because they're
- 18:52putting an expectation.
- 18:55And when it's not there or fulfilled, guess
- 18:58what happens?
- 19:01Their attitude drops.
- 19:03If enjoyment requires perfect weather, plenty of money,
- 19:08unlimited time, or a major event, you'll spend
- 19:11a lot of time just waiting.
- 19:13Learn to recognize opportunities for enjoyment's sake inside
- 19:19normal circumstances.
- 19:22I think that's something that a lot of
- 19:23people here don't realize.
- 19:28You might have heard people say, oh, how
- 19:30do I get off the merry-go-round?
- 19:30How do I get off?
- 19:31It's just spinning.
- 19:33That means they're overcommitted.
- 19:36That means they're not taking time to be
- 19:38meaningful with everything they're doing.
- 19:40That's what that means.
- 19:40A lot of people don't want to hear
- 19:42that, but that's the absolute, absolute truth.
- 19:45Number 24, guys, recognize when you're already living
- 19:49something good.
- 19:52Sometimes we don't recognize a good chapter until
- 19:55it's over.
- 19:57Look around while you still know inside it.
- 20:03You may already be experiencing, well, something you'll
- 20:07remember fondly later.
- 20:10Number 25, give gratitude a practical place in
- 20:15your day.
- 20:18It deserves one.
- 20:20Gratitude doesn't have to become a complicated ritual.
- 20:25Simply pause long enough to recognize something you
- 20:29value instead of allowing everything good to become
- 20:32invisible through familiarity.
- 20:36Think about that for a moment.
- 20:38The things that you enjoy, do you just
- 20:40take them in, or do you really sit
- 20:43back and realize how grateful you are for
- 20:45them?
- 20:46I'm just asking a question.
- 20:49Number 26.
- 20:51Number 26 is an important one.
- 20:54Learn to appreciate without becoming complacent.
- 20:59Wow, that's a powerful one.
- 21:01Appreciation and ambition aren't opposites.
- 21:05You can be grateful for where you are
- 21:08while still working towards something better.
- 21:12The key is to be grateful for what
- 21:13you have now.
- 21:15In fact, appreciation can make growth healthier.
- 21:22I think we all want to change.
- 21:23We all want to grow, right?
- 21:25But we have to be grateful to what
- 21:27we have now, to what we are now
- 21:30in our life.
- 21:31That's a key, guys.
- 21:33That's a key.
- 21:34Number 27.
- 21:36Please let today have value of its own.
- 21:40Today doesn't need to justify itself by producing
- 21:44something for tomorrow.
- 21:46You may think it does, and if you
- 21:49do that, you're changing your perception, then when
- 21:50it doesn't happen, you get dismayed or you
- 21:54get disappointed.
- 21:55Some experiences deserve to matter simply because they
- 22:01happened and you were there to experience them.
- 22:09Number 28, guys.
- 22:10Stop racing past your own life.
- 22:13Constantly thinking about what comes next can prevent
- 22:16you from experiencing what is happening right now
- 22:19in the very moment.
- 22:21Occasionally, slow your mental pace enough to notice
- 22:25where you actually are.
- 22:31That's a key.
- 22:33Number 29.
- 22:34The present isn't practice for later.
- 22:37This moment isn't a rehearsal.
- 22:39You don't get to save and experience it
- 22:42again when you're less busy.
- 22:44The present is part of the actual life
- 22:49you're trying to build.
- 22:53Number 30.
- 22:54Enjoy the life happening right now before you.
- 22:57Keep your goals, continue growing, build a future
- 23:00you actually want.
- 23:02But don't make the future the only place
- 23:04where you're allowed to experience happiness, satisfaction, connection,
- 23:08or even pure enjoyment.
- 23:11As I get ready to close the show
- 23:13up for today, there is nothing, guys, wrong
- 23:16with wanting more from life.
- 23:18Okay?
- 23:19You can want to accomplish more, learn more,
- 23:24create more, experience more, and become more, and
- 23:27you should.
- 23:28But there's a difference between building towards something
- 23:30and constantly telling yourself that life hasn't started
- 23:33yet.
- 23:35Your life has already started.
- 23:37It's happening during the ordinary Wednesday, which is
- 23:42what today is.
- 23:43It's happening during the conversation you almost rushed
- 23:46through before you watched the show.
- 23:50It's happening during the meal you barely noticed
- 23:54and gave thanks for because you were too
- 24:01busy thinking about tomorrow.
- 24:04It's happening while you're building the business, earning
- 24:08the degree, pursuing the opportunity, developing the relationship,
- 24:12or working toward the next goal.
- 24:15Ladies and gentlemen, don't become so focused on
- 24:18the destination that you forget the experience of
- 24:23the journey.
- 24:24You see, you're working so hard to create
- 24:27it.
- 24:28Why not enjoy the trip?
- 24:30Look around occasionally.
- 24:33The birds, different scenery, water, plants, animals.
- 24:41Notice what's already good around you.
- 24:43Celebrate the small victory.
- 24:46Recognize how far you've traveled.
- 24:49Enjoy the people who are here.
- 24:53Appreciate what once seemed impossible, and when something
- 24:56good happens, resist the urge to immediately turn
- 25:00it into another assignment.
- 25:03I know that's hard for some people.
- 25:05Ladies and gentlemen, I am John C.
- 25:07Morley, a serial entrepreneur, and I thank you
- 25:09so much for choosing to join me here
- 25:10today for another amazing episode of Inspirations for
- 25:13Your Life.
- 25:14And I want to leave you with some
- 25:15important words of wisdom, okay?
- 25:18First of all, ladies and gentlemen, please keep
- 25:21growing.
- 25:24Please keep learning.
- 25:28Please keep building.
- 25:32Growing, learning, building.
- 25:35But ladies and gentlemen, please remember, the present
- 25:39isn't practice for later.
- 25:44No, people get that wrong.
- 25:47You see, this is your life too right
- 25:50now.
- 25:51The ordinary Monday, the ordinary Tuesday, the Wednesday,
- 25:53the Thursday, the Friday, this is your life.
- 25:56You're building it.
- 25:58Learn to enjoy the life happening right now
- 26:00before you.
- 26:03And I think a good way to enjoy
- 26:07the life before you is to be mindful
- 26:11of things.
- 26:13If you're about to have a meal, regardless
- 26:16of whether you're religious or not, take a
- 26:18moment and be grateful for the precious food,
- 26:22the beverage, right?
- 26:23Say thank you.
- 26:25Even if you're at a restaurant, you can
- 26:27do it privately and quietly.
- 26:28You don't have to have a big brigade
- 26:29or a big grand gesture.
- 26:31You can do it very quietly.
- 26:35If you believe in God, you can thank
- 26:37God.
- 26:37If you're in the Lord, thank you, Lord.
- 26:39Or Creator, I thank you so much for
- 26:41allowing me.
- 26:43Or you can just say, you know, I'm
- 26:44so grateful and so thankful that I have
- 26:48this bountiful plate before me and a beverage
- 26:52to enjoy with it.
- 26:56When we start to think from those mindsets,
- 27:01we start to slowly rewire our brain.
- 27:05And over time, the neuroplasticity we've talked about
- 27:09before changes.
- 27:13And with those changes, our perceptions change.
- 27:17Our attitudes change.
- 27:19Our energy changes.
- 27:21Our health changes.
- 27:25You know what else changes?
- 27:28Our level of gratitude.
- 27:32If you're wondering why you're not successful, the
- 27:34first thing I'm going to tell you is,
- 27:36how grateful are you for everything you have
- 27:38right now?
- 27:40Just a question.
- 27:42You don't have to tell me.
- 27:44Just be grateful every day for everything you
- 27:47have.
- 27:48Take a few moments before each meal, before
- 27:50you go to sleep, before you get up.
- 27:52Be grateful for everything.
- 27:54Ladies and gentlemen, I'm John C.
- 27:55Morley, serial entrepreneur.
- 27:57Be sure to check out BelieveMeAchieve.com for
- 27:59more of my amazing, of course, inspiring creations.
- 28:01I'll catch you real soon.
- 28:43Just to clarify, are you talking about me
- 28:45specifically not loading in a browser or app
- 28:47or AI tools in general, not responding on
- 28:50your computer?
- 28:51Number two.
- 28:53Got it.
- 28:54So it's every AI tool, not just me.
- 28:56Let's narrow it down a bit.
- 28:58Yes.
- 28:58Is this a specific browser?
- 29:01Yes to both, I think you meant.
- 29:03Okay, does the page actually load like you
- 29:05see in the website?
- 29:06But then it just won't respond when you
- 29:08type or click.
- 29:09So let me be more specific.
- 29:12It's only the audio that's not working.
- 29:15I can use you in your app or
- 29:17in the websites, no problem.
- 29:18But when I try to talk, I hear
- 29:21you, but you don't hear me.
- 29:24That's a microphone issue.
