The Open Question Is Determinism's Demand
Why did evolution choose humans? The question hands the answer to a chooser, and the chosen cannot give a chooser's reasons. Take the chooser out and the account of differing offspring and drifting lineages stands as it was. Take out "each conscious being chooses for itself and bears the consequences" and it comes back in the act of removing it.
