Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Offsies, a show covering the mighty Gulf, the NFL, pop culture, drinking culture and of course.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: I show it now, hear your host, out for our T.I.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: in myself.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we're on and welcome to the Offsies, and this is our third season with Marit Brave and myself, where we talk pretty much everything, we talk dolphins, we talk.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: hockey, wrestling, combat sports, pretty much anything that comes to mind in the off season.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: And we will touch upon the dolphins a little bit.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, Mark.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, I'll be excited to be back here with you, man.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is our time as Dolphins fans, the off season.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: This is when we do good work.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is when the Dolphins usually win, and not necessarily during the actual season, the regularly season, certainly not during the playoffs.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: But during the off season, the Dolphins have taken away a few off season championships in recent memory.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not this year, depending on what they,
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: they end up doing with what little cap space they'll have.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: But this is our time.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's Dolphin Spain's time.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's the off season.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I don't know if you remember last off season, but that was pretty awful.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was a horrific off season.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you remember that.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: But no.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: And it led into a pretty terrible season.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let's at least spend five minutes recapping this season.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Since it is the off-season show, and we're gonna be with you right up until June, I mean July.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: Right up until July, right before the calendar turns toward training camp, we will be with you.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so let's just pick up where we left off last season.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: When we did our last show last season, we really weren't expecting a lot.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: We also weren't expecting a complete implosion of the team, and since then that's what we got.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty much everybody has gone.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: Think about it.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: They fired literally everybody.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: The entire coaching staff, even the quarterback is going to be gone.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody in the front office is gone and everybody is new.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: So what did you make of the run-up to our debut of our third season of the off-season and what transpired this season?
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was on record last off-season saying I didn't think that dolphins were going
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here to tell you I was wrong.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: You already know I was wrong, but I'm going to sit here.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to admit it.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to eat crow.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: I was completely wrong.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: The team was a bismal.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was not a fun season at all.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Not a fun season as all.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how you felt about it, Alf.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Watching the games and watching the team be poor and watching them just lose week after week after week.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's never fun as a fan.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: But then as a content creator as a writer for the fin cider, having to recap these losses and these boneheaded mistakes by two a tongue of a loa and these these awful decisions in short yardage situations by Mike McDaniel just having to sit there and then rehash it over and over and over again throughout the week.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was just it was depressing as all hell and and by you know week four, I was ready I said flush it get rid of everybody get rid of McDaniel get rid of Greer get rid of Tua and and Thankfully somebody listened within the Miami Dolphins organization not to me, but but to the collective we the Royal We so to speak
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: all of us often say as we're sick of it and now we get it we get a shot we get a shot to to clean clean house clean slate and see if we can finally nail a head coach higher a GM higher a potential replacement quarterback you know a lot of us got our eyes on milk willus i think he's a lot better than than uh... some casual fans might think he is but uh... the dolphins have a chance to to remake the entire organization now
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: become a tougher team, which is what John Erick Sullivan and Jeff Hathley have talked about since joining the Miami Dolphins.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: They want to be tougher.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: They want to get better on defense.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: They want to be able to run the ball.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: They want to get stronger from the inside out, right?
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: They want to strengthen that offensive line.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: They want to strengthen that defensive line.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: And they want to impose their will against their opponents.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: Something the Miami Dolphins weren't able to do under Mike McDaniel.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's more of a finesse guy, more of a smoking mirror
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's off to Los Angeles with the Chargers.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: He joins former, another former Dolphins coach Adam Gace over there coming out of retirement after five years to coach under Jim Harbob.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: But the Dolphins have a shot to do something different.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: And it might be rough next season, and I'll based on kind of the cap hell that they're in.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: But they can start.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: placing the building blocks the foundation for a better football team this off season and during next season and I'm excited for the future of this organization and hopefully it works out fingers crossed fingers crossed did we finally do it did we finally get it right or not
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: or not, it might not work.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, my interpretation of what happened last season is, you still had the feeling that they under achieved, right?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they weren't good, but they weren't horrific either.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: They went seven games, they punt on the last,
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: Essentially, almost last quarter of the season, as soon as they lose the game against Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, they say, all right, that's it.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're done and they put on the last quarter to finish up one in two the win one game.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: I still got to sense that the team under achieved that they were more likely a eight or nine wind team than the seven that they got.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: And that's pretty much why everybody got fired, right?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's this consistent underachievement that they've grown accustomed to to being basically every single season.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's it's almost like like a view.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: If you go back and I'm fond of looking
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: If you go back and you look at those win totals, when did they beat those win totals the last four seasons?
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: They beat them once, and that was the year that they weren't 11 games.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: They were at 9 and a half and 22 they win 9 games, so they were under by a half.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: In 23, they were 9.5 again, they went 11, so they went over, right?
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: So they over achieved in 23.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: In 24, they were 9.5.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: And they went 8.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: And this past season, they were 8.5.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: And they went 7.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that was kind of, you know, to put a button on this, to put a bow on this.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think that this era of dolphin football was marked by consistent under achievement.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: You agree?
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: absolutely absolutely you know like you said the one year that they over-cheered and you know it was exciting to get into the playoffs the first couple years of the Mike McDaniel era and it was exciting to have a revolutionary offense a high-flying offense you know we talk about it at Nazium but 70 points against the Denver Broncos to a Tonga by Loa was an MVP candidate at times during
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: or a while.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: But when opposing defenses were able to counter what Mike McDaniel was scheming up for the Dolphins offense, the team was never able to develop a counter punch and that ultimately sunk the team in an ultimately sunk Mike McDaniel's tenure as the team's head coach.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: And now he's back to being an offensive coordinator, which is a job I frankly feel he's much more suited for.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how you feel about that out, but I think he'll be a better offensive coordinator than he was a head coach for the Miami Dolphins.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because that's pretty much what he wanted to do here.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, now he gets to do it, and it's in his job description and in his title, so he doesn't really have to worry about the rest of the team.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, by the way, red flag, and let's move off of the past, and let's move toward the future.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Red Flag, first red flag has developed for Jeff Hathley, didn't interview when he was talking about why he hired Bobby Slowick and he says Bobby Slowick can take care of that side of the building huge red flag.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like I did not like to hear that if you're the head coach you run the whole team I don't like this this I run half the team type stuff.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Mike McDaniel did and I don't think that that's a that's a good look.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna look that up and I'm gonna post it when I get a chance in the three-way Perce Channel By the way, if you want to participate with us you want to ask questions of us and you want to
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: Watch this record these shows every single week and you want to interact with us in our in our other sports channel or in Our patron chat and you want to read what we write on three way PC you got to go to our discord and to do that You go to discord dot gg forward slash only fins you become a member there all access for 99 a month Do it under that stop avoid the apple up charges.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: I put a link to everything one of them.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: So Jeff Haffley your thoughts
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Red flag or not that he said that because I'll tell you right now, I hate it that he said that.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: I hate it He that he said that I despise it with the intensity of a thousand sons I don't like that.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like head coach is talking about I run one side of the building and the other guy runs the other side.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: I despise that I don't like it your thoughts
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: half Lee kind of has the balls to to step up and take over if he needs to, right?
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like he'll be the type of guy that gets on slow excess if if the results aren't there where maybe as Mike McDaniel was, you know, a bit more
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: timid about things you know and you know you're you're inside the building alph at times and you have deeper connections so maybe I'm off base there but it just feels like Jeff Haftley has more of a no nonsense personality no bullshit personality and he's going to call people out if they try to feed him bullshit so
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: While there is a little bit of a red flag there, I'm willing to let it play out and see where we go from here.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: But as far as Jeff Happley has an individual, he comes across as a no-nonsense type of guy.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody who's going to relate to this new generation of NFL player, right?
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to different time.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the same as it was 20, 30 years ago in the NFL.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: People are being raised different.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got to treat these people.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: a little differently, and I think happily he's going to be able to do that, but he's also going to be able to lay the hammer down in ways that Mike McDaniel wasn't able to.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's not trying to be everybody's best friend, and it did feel like at least for the first couple of years that Mike McDaniel wanted to be everybody's best friend.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he, he, he,
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: He developed the nickname McBuddy, right?
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: And he was Mike McBuddy, everybody's buddy.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Jeff Hathley's gonna be that kind of guy.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm hoping Jeff Hathley's not gonna be that kind of guy because he need an adult in the room.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: You need somebody who's going to put people in their place when they need to be put in their place.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Jeff Hathley's going to be that guy for the Miami Dolphins.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping he's going to be that guy and my fingers are crossed.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what this team needs.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you take a look at how the Green Bay Packers were run, and that's what Miami's building now is Green Bay Packer, South.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're going to transition more to that, you know, no bullshit type of style that the Packers have been running for as long as I can remember, and I think that's something a team based in South Florida based in Miami with all these detractions.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's something a team like the dolphins are going to benefit from.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: yeah i tend to agree like that's that's one thing that you know would ease my mind a little bit and i still think it's a red flag like i don't like i don't like coaches talking about other guys having a lot of responsibility and you're already delegating huge parts of the team and they haven't even had their first practice yet but i do think and i do believe that
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's one thing that I think Brian Flores did have going in his favor, and some would say that Brian Flores abused that, which is whenever he had any kind of semblance of dysfunction on the other side of the ball, he stepped in right away, and I would hope, and I think he would, I think Jeff Halfly's the type of guy that would step in if he does see some
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Fuckery for the last lack of a better word going on on the other side of the Paul.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Moving on, the biggest topic right now, really, in Dolphin Twitter, it's Malik Wallace.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: To Malik Wallace are to not Malik Wallace, and I'm sorry, I don't understand this.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost a religious fervor against Malik Wallace.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like, who gives a shit, if he sucks,
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: You go in the draft pool in 2027, that's it, but then...
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: But then all of a sudden you see the very nuanced argument.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but what if we win too much?
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: What?
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: If we win 11 games?
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we win 11 games, guess what?
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: I like the quarterback.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, but what do you mean what if we win too much?
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: Are you saying we might win seven?
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: Is that what you're saying?
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, we won't win four or we won't win three.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I've explained this many many times before on only fence.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: If this team wins like three or four games, we got bigger problems on the quarterback.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have to fire Jeff Haffley after one season.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: because you know what good coaches don't do, they don't lose tons and tons of football games.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: They managed to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Brian Flores, okay.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: When 5 and 11 were the roster, that was essentially a UFL championship roster, okay.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: That roster was tragic.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: That was a tank roster.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: They were bringing people off the street every single week to start and to play 40, 50 snaps.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: He won five games.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: So, if Jeff Hathley fires off a ridiculous win-loss record next season, you know, four and 13 or something like that, guess what?
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: We're probably gonna have to fire Jeff Hathley.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's probably not the right man for this job.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, what are people afraid of?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but your thoughts on Malik Willis and this whole narrative that's taking place.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: think people who are against the Dolphin Signing Malik Willis just haven't watched Malik Willis play.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I live in the Midwest, the Packers are probably the the second favorite team in my area, you know, with the bears being number one.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: So you get a lot of Packers games around here, you get a lot of Packers coverage.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: and watching Malik Willis play this past season and the season prior, he's not your average backup quarterback.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's not your typical backup quarterback.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: This guy is something special.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: When you watch him play, if you had never seen the Packers play a day in your life,
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: And you tuned in for the very first time when Malik Willis was starting for them.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: You would have no idea that he wasn't the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's how good he was when he was pressed into action this year when Jordan Love was hurt.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: In my personal opinion, I thought Malik Willis looked better than Jordan Love when he was forced into action this year.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Malik Willis looked electric, he has a strong arm, he's an accurate quarterback and he's mobile and that's what you need in this division when you're playing against teams like the Buffalo Bills, up in Western New York, when you're playing against the Jets and New Jersey, when you're playing against.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: the the Patriots and Fox spur when you get these December games these January games in those cold weather cities You need a player who plays football like Malik Willis plays football.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: I was the biggest to a tongue-by-law a fan in the world, but he is not the type of quarterback who succeeds in those environments.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: Malik Willis is and like you said, out
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: What are you going to do?
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: You signed them to a two year 40 million dollar contract with 30 million guaranteed.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, but that's that's chump change for a quarterback.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: You're paying for the ability to scratch the lottery ticket and sometimes.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: you're going to strike out and sometimes you're going to hit a home run when that happens.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you're going to cash in big and that's what the dolphins need to do right now because right now you don't have a quarterback.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry you don't.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: To a tongue out by Lowa, you know, by all accounts is not going to be here next year and, you know, obviously the injuries have taken their toll.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: And he's not the same quarterback that he was in 2022 or 2023.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, when yours looked
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: Good for what he was you know 7th round Ricky quarterback.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: He looked fine, but he's not Your future Franchise savior for the Miami Dolphins.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's just not he can be a quality back up in this league But he's not going to be your starter.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: So you're paying for the ability to scratch the ticket and if Malik will his hits Then then you did it you found a 25 year old quarterback who can lead your franchise
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: for the next 12, 13, 14 years plus, and you kind of jump to the head of the line of that rebuilding process.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_00]: You skip multiple steps.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to be terrible to get your quarterback.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to get a top three draft pick to get your quarterback or you don't have to trade.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a shit ton of future assets future draft picks to get your quarterback.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: You have him.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's in the building.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: You sign them to a Contract extension beyond that and there he is.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's your guy.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: And if it doesn't work out like you said, it doesn't prohibit you from going into that 2027 You know quarterback draft class, which is supposed to be really good and we all kind of know how those things play out right every quarterback class is supposed to be great until it isn't
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm hoping it's a great quarterback class and if Millie Willis doesn't show you what you're hoping he shows you next season, then you draft another quarterback high in and you figure out and you pay Millie Willis to go away at that point, right?
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see the harm in going for it.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see the harm in trying to find this quarterback and I think the leak will it says the guy.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: Just by watching him play the few times I've watched him play over the last couple seasons, he doesn't feel like a backup quarterback.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: He feels like a starting quarterback in this league and quite frankly he feels like a quality starting quarterback in this league.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: He just feels different.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think what people are seeing as I went when they hear a lot of reticket, they feel as if the lottery ticket we're buying is like a $100 lottery ticket.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, if I went out right now and bought a $100 lottery ticket and I scratched it off and it gave me nothing.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be like, then that was stupid.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: I just threw away a hundred bucks.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: But if I went in about a $10 scratch off ticket and it gave me nothing,
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't care, right?
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's just 10 bucks, like that's it.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, guess what?
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a $100 lottery ticket, like this is not gonna bury you if he doesn't work out.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: Cause that's what I keep saying on Twitter is like, oh my god, it'll bury the franchise if Malik willa sucks.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, no, it won't.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: This is like a $10 scratch off ticket.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: If you lose you rip up the ticket you throw it in the garbage and the story and then you know you buy another one Or you draft you draft one.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: You do the the responsible thing, but yeah, I just don't get it I don't understand this angst that's out there on Twitter.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna go to break.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we come back We're pretty much talking about everything.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: How's that?
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: But first, let me say about it.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's factor.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: Cold days, big goals, no time to cook.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: Factor makes healthy eating easy with fully prepared meals designed by dietitians and crafted by chefs.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: So eat well without the planning or cooking.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: Quality functional ingredients, including lean proteins, colorful veggies, hopeful ingredients and healthy fats.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: No refined sugars, no artificial sweeteners, no refined seed oils, meals that fit your goals and schedule healthier eating, calorie management.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: more protein I always I am accustomed by the way and I picked my my meals on in fact I got to pick them today hopefully I didn't miss the deadline because the deadline is sometime around six so yeah I'll have time to pick these meals
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll tell you, I love picking through these meals because you're not picking through like 10 or 15 meals like you're never going to get bored because I have 100 rotating weekly meals and sometimes some meals go off and then they come back on so it's always the first menu every single week and like I said, their portion control, that's the best part.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: because you're eating really good food.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: This is not taste like cafeteria food, by the way.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: This tastes like the type of food that you would have at a restaurant.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's that good.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: They even have steaks, they have seafood.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: You could have it all.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: They also have GLP one support and ready to eat salads.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: Head on over to factormeals.com slash three yards five zero off and use the code three yards five zero off.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's the number three yards five zero off.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: They get 50% off and free breakfast for one year.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like a pro this month with factor.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: New subscribers only varies by plan.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: One free breakfast item per box for one year while subscription is active.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Make healthier eating easier with factor.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: and we are back like i don't want to spend too much time on on on the panthers but jesus christ they're a point out of a playoff spot the team that actually team is looking for shit yeah the team is beat to shit uh... they're gonna get healthier now because now they're in the Olympics you know and we don't have many guys because quite frankly the guys that we're gonna have in the Olympics are all injured so they can't play in the Olympics so we're saving ourselves the time
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: right uh but it's been a frustrating season i don't know if you've watched the games this year merit but yeah the Panthers are having one of those seasons but you know is it over no but the clock is ticking 8 points out of a playoff spot
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: 11 points out of a guaranteed spot, which is a top three in the division But more important in the eights by points and it doesn't seem like anybody in front of them is ever going to go ever going to lose, right?
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like everybody in front of them is actually who they are like they're actually good So it's a weird season and I don't know how you feel about what's gone on this season But it just feels like a tired team that has gone deep three years in a row and They're likely not to go deep a fourth year in a row
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'll if I'm just I'm going to personally take the blame for this one.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: It is it is my
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: it is my cross to bear.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: This is what I do, man.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a Miami Dolphins fan.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: We all are very well aware of their playoff utility over the last quarter century.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also a big Cleveland Guardians baseball fan and after they lost the world series to the Cubs in 2016, they became the team with the longest world series wind drought in the majors.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: got that going for me and then now you know through through my friendship with you and and the rest of the south Florida folks on only fins have become a Florida Panthers fan.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: I've enjoyed the last couple seasons but it's more so you know I'm dipping my toes in the water and this year I decided to go all in.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: I subscribe to NHL Center Ice for the first time.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: I've been watching these games on my Direct TV.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I've been watching them lose, I've been watching them lose, and I'm like, oh no, I thought I was, I thought I was jumping on the bandwagon at the right time, and unfortunately maybe I was just, uh, I was the, I was the, I was the straw that broke the camels back, because this, this, this bandwagon is, is lagging lately.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you're right, they haven't been playing very good, a banged-up hockey team for sure.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: But you tell me, you tell me, you say all hope is not lost as we are breaking for the winter Olympics.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: What are the chances they can go on a run, make a run, the last, you know, few games of this season and get themselves, sneak themselves into the playoffs, it makes noise when they get there.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's a it's a possibility, but it's going to have to come with one of those big winstreaks like they're going to have to fire off 10 in a row at some point.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: The thing that is surprising to me is that like they're not futile, like they're not terrible.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're four games over 500.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: Four games over 500 and they have 61 points at the what is this, 40, 54.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: 57 game mark.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: So after 57 games they have 61 points.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's not terrible.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: And again like I said they're four games over 400.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's the good news.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: The bad news is they're in dead last place.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: So it's one of those weird years where the team is like they're not good, but they're not bad.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: but they're not last place bad, but somehow they're in last place in the Atlantic division, like they're last place.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, eight points out.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: So the only way they remedy that is with a winning streak.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna have to fire off one of those 10 game winning streaks, get 20 points and 10 games.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that'll vault them into the playoffs.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just hold on for the rest of the season.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: But it has to come already.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like we're 57 games in.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like it has to happen now.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: The schedule softens up a little bit.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have to take advantage of it big time.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because right before they went into the Winter Olympics break, I said, look, you got three out of four games at home, swooped to home games.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: They went one and two in the home games.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's not good enough.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not good enough.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: And the one game that they went that to go over the time to get it.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: So the other team got a point.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, it can happen.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's just that the clock is taking and we're at the point where, yeah, we need a 10 game win streak.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna have to fire off 10 games in a row for us to have any chance to make the playoffs.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: Moving on to other things.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you're a college football fan, but I just finished having an awesome season.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: And now,
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: my college football team, the University of Miami hurricanes are absolutely loaded and expectations are through the roof.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a lot of fun.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: My soccer team into Miami is opening up a brand new stadium and they won the MLS Cup.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of my teams are doing a lot of winning.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: The only problem is that none of the teams I cover are doing any winning, you know, which kind of sucks.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: I get covered with dolphins and they're clearly the worst team in town, which is sad.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, a lot of my team is doing a lot of winning.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you are your fan, and we're gonna talk a little bit about here, just to move on here.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: But are you a fan of the MLS inter Miami team or college football and the Miami hurricanes?
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: I I I dabble in college football, you know, I live in Iowa.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I root for the Iowa Hawkeyes from from a distance, you know, you don't want to get to emotionally invested in the Hawkeyes because they're going to disappoint you every single year.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know, although watching Indiana and you know, I know that's the source bot and you know, they defeated your Miami hurricanes and the National Championship.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: But watching in the end of turning around all of a sudden they were they were nobody like four decades on end and then all of a sudden You know these last couple seasons and obviously this national championship season that could give me as a Hawkeye's fan a little bit of hope But I try not to get too emotionally invested in the Hawkeye's in
- 28:58[SPEAKER_00]: today the truth running independent wrestling shows like I do a lot of them most of them are on Saturdays and so during the college football season I don't get to watch a lot of college football because those are work days for me.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: and I'm working a lot during that time.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: As far as soccer goes, not a big soccer guy, I'll watch the World Cup when it comes around and root for Team USA, but not a big soccer guy.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: You guys got messy on your team though, right?
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: And he's bringing a lot of eyes to the MLS and specifically a lot of eyes to South Florida soccer.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: So that has to be pretty exciting for you.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh absolutely and they're opening up the new stadium so that's going to be a lot of fun That state is going to be absolutely beautiful by the way and there's well, they're spending it a go You're going to go to some games.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm not going to the opener because the openers against Austin FC and the the opener Like they're asking for these ridiculous prices so what you do is you go to the second game That they're going to have at that stadium and the prices drop precipitously, so yeah, I'll be going to that game
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: What I am doing and we're going to transition over to baseball here.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to spring training which is a lot of fun.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to port St. Lucy at the end of the month to watch spring training baseball which is kind of cool my meds did it again meaning they look like absolutely hopeless and then they just put a bunch of lipstick on the pig and We'll make a run out of play out spot again the problem is we got we got to somehow contend with that juggernaut in LA that
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: Look, we're a rich team and they make it us, look poor.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I thought we were going to get Cal Tucker and we made them an offer.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: That was about $60 million a year and the Dodger said, 60, how 68?
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: And he becomes a Dodger and not a met.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of tough.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of tough to be in the same league as a team that, you know, money's no object to that Dodger team.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've been observing what the Dodgers have done because it's rather ridiculous.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum, right?
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: Where as my team is not a rich team.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: My team is one of the poorest teams and they never spend any money.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't signed anyone this offseason except for their own backup catcher.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: They brought him back.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: e-haw couple relief pitchers that's kind of what Cleveland does though right they get really good pitching and then hope that their team can rally around Jose Ramirez best third basement in baseball and try and and go on a miracle run which they did last year they you served the Detroit Tigers right at the end of the season ended up losing to them in the postseason so you know it all balanced out there.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know, man.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I look at baseball and I look at what the Dodgers are doing and and I guess I'd like to get your opinion because you are a fan of a team that spends money, but you're also competing with the Dodgers.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think about a salary cap in baseball?
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that would work for the sport?
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think the sport needs a salary cap in order to keep
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: Involve in the game to keep a lot of these smaller market teams relevant and you think it would be good for the game of baseball to have some sort of salary cap mixed with a salary floor.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm for it, but they should have a salary floor.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: More importantly, just have a tax system that's more equitable because this is what's weird, okay?
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: The Dodgers are going to pay a luxury tax this coming season, okay?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: what they're going to be paying in luxury tax is more in total than payroll of the ten bottom teams, the ten lowest payrolls.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: So essentially the dodges could just take their tax payment and pay for the teams of the bottom ten payroll teams.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: So they could pay for ten teams in the league, like that's ridiculous.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: So essentially what I do is you got to you got to make a tax
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that penalizes teams for, for spending above the salary cap, and, you know, incentivize people that, that bring up, because, look, here's one thing about baseball is that you do get to control the, you get to control the young players that you draft and you develop.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: So you get, you get to control them for a pre-mic forever, all right, because you have these exclusive rights to negotiate with them early.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're smart, you can do something like which I thought was something stupid that the Marlins did, because the Marlins were smart enough to sign Christian Yellows to a long-term deal, and ended up becoming the best deal in all of professional baseball.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: Guy was winning an MVP award making $70 million a year, $70 million a year, okay?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of like what you want, but the trader was like three years left on his deal.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: look, incentivize that.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you could bring, if you could find your good young players, you draft them, you develop them, and they're good, you get to keep them.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's not something that after the fifth year of control, the guy just says, you know what, trade me to somewhere where I could sign a long-term deal.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: and then all of a sudden you're trading your best young players elsewhere and you're essentially doing a complete fire sale every six or seven years when you build up a generation of good young players.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: So...
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, have the salary cap, have a strong tax system, definitely have a salary floor, and allow teams to control players for a while.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that's what's best.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: But as we know, the Yankees are going to fight it.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_01]: The Dodgers are going to fight it.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: Hell, I think my team is going to fight it.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: So although Rich teams are going to fight it, they're going to say, no, why should we?
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, why should we share?
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: and really all of this is about the TV contract that the Dodger signed.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's allowing them to spend all that money because they share in none of that money with the rest of the league.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: there's going to be a lockout and after that lockout we'll see what kind of sport we get afterwards.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: I just hope that, look, the baseball is a terrible commissioner.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: I just hope that they really don't screw it up like they did in the NBA because Adam's silver just completely destroyed the NBA in the last CBA where in other words, they have no free agency whatsoever.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what are your thoughts on the Saturday cap.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like we were definitely
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: a lockout and likely maybe not even a season to your from now.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that'll be sad to see, you know, but whatever it takes to get it done and hopefully it doesn't cost the league.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_00]: Too much popularity, it feels like baseball's been on an upswing for the last few seasons.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like people are interested again.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like young people, you know, at least my kids.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: I got a nine year old in the 14 year old son.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: They're both interested in baseball, so you'd hate to see.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: The league do damage to the popularity upswing that it's been, you know, incurring over the last few seasons, but something needs to be done because it feels like a broken system right now and it feels like something that needs to change.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: yeah and it's a fun sport like if you have a team that's relevant you have a team that's playoff relevant it's really fun watching them all throughout the season like i don't know how you watch baseball but the way i watch baseball is like mostly Monday through through thursday i'm kind of busy so i just boxcore watch or watch the last three innings of a game right i go on the MOB TV app and i watch the last three innings of a game but Friday Saturday Sunday i'm watching my team play you know
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: I watch them play, I watch full games and it's fun, you know, it's fun to follow the box scores, it's fun to follow the standings and, you know, can you make the playoffs, can you not make the playoffs and if you do make the playoffs, you know, you always have a chance.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I hope that, you know, I hope that they could figure this out, but however they figured it out, it's going to have to come with a side recap.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, moving on to our last topic of the day and we're gonna move on to a little bit of wrestling here and your boy Seth Rollins Correct.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: Correct.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: We were wrong.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: First of all he's he's on he's on my TV like every single day Because I put every morning now.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I put on good morning football So I watch it every single morning and there he is.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: There's Seth Rollins again and I was thinking of myself and and tell me what you think about this because
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure you're this type of guy.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: The type of guy that would be on 24-7 like you would like you would be more under taker then I don't know who's a guy who doesn't live the gimmick 24-7 Who would be that guy most of them?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: Most of them all of them now nowadays for sure
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that they don't live the gimmick 24-7.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you, but I think you'll be more undertaker than these guys, but in my opinion Seth Rollins is playing the baby face on good morning football, and I've always thought of him as one of the best heels in wrestling.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: Shouldn't you be dropping like all types of hot hot takes on good morning football and pissing off fan bases so you could lean into his character?
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: No
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: I know he has big aspirations, you know, for a future career in NFL broadcasting.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_00]: Once he's done, once he wraps it up in the ring, you know, this is what he wants to do.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a massive football fan his entire life and, you know, he doesn't want to go do movies and stuff.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's been in a few movies, but he hates it.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: He hates acting.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't want to do
- 38:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he doesn't want to go the rock route and even even the route that his wife is going down where she's on the new star Trek show And she was in happy Gilmore too and and things like that.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's not interested in that.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: He still wants to be a part of the entertainment business But he wants it to be football focus.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he's trying to do as good of a job as he can You know with the knowledge that he has and and you know, he's still just kind of
- 39:24[SPEAKER_00]: you know break in the seal here trying to try to get comfortable doing this and I think he's doing an admirable admirable job.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think he probably just wishes that he could ditch the character altogether so he could just dress like a normal human being when he's on television.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: instead of having to wear all the crazy outfits because he's not that guy.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: I've known him since he was 16 years old.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's not a stylish individual.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's not getting dressed up and doing things.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: He wears the same tattered sweatpants that he used to wear when we met in high school.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: And like the not a similar pair, the exact pair.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, that's when he wears down at the gym and everything like that.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he just wishes he could dress normal, but I don't know.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's trying to build himself a nice resume so that he can keep his opportunities open when he does eventually hang up the wrestling boots.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know, hopefully that too soon.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, hopefully he's got a few more years left in the wrestling world.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: you know father times undefeated eventually it'll come for him as well and obviously he deals with a lot of injuries out with an injury right now shoulder injury so once that heals up you'll see him back on your television screens doing what he does best being one of the best professional wrestlers in the world.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I saw him at the, he was at the Super Bowl with his wife and both of them were like in full gimmick mode, so.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: You know.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: That has to kill him.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: That has to kill him.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like they were both.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like first of all, they were dressed the same.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, all in white and like.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, lavish, you know outfits and Seth had that big chain and my daughter even remarked that my daughter goes He's wearing that chain everywhere he goes now isn't he and I'm like, yeah, he kind of is yeah, although guess what he's not wearing it on good morning football Which is kind of interesting right if he's trying to normalize yeah, he's just he's not like that if you if you saw him
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: stroll into the gym in Davenport, Iowa.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: He'd be wearing a ball cap and a t-shirt and some workout shorts and some tennis shoes and he just looked like any old dude, maybe a little more jacked than the rest of us at this age.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he's not like that.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: And there's not a chance in the world.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: He picked out that outfit for the Super Bowl.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: That was definitely picked out and sent to him by a stylist.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, Becky may have had some input.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: She's a little bit more fashion-focused than he is.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: But there's not a chance in the world.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: He looked at it and said, yeah, sure, whatever.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think put it on.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, somebody writes in the chat.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: I laughed at what Seth said about taking coffee Kingston to the Super Bowl.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: What do you say about taking coffee Kingston to the Super Bowl?
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: Is that not coffee's a patriot's fan?
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: Which means I, I, I, I, I, I'll have a set and I don't like them, okay?
- 42:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right, yeah, I mean that the text message exchange was on the internet yesterday We're basically Seth was like hey, we got an extra ticket to you want to go and coffee was like whoa shit Are you you kidding me like what do you mean?
- 42:26[SPEAKER_00]: I get to go to super well with you that that's fantastic and Coffee was trying to offer him some sort of compensation and and Seth's like no, I got this shit for free You could have it for free too.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care Must be nice
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: must be nice.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: I told him that you know you got the the new Super Bowl logo that came out and it's, you know,
- 42:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's got the aqua, it's got the orange in there, people say that the colors predict which team's going to make it.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Some people were saying maybe a bear's dolphin's Super Bowl and I said if that happens, or tap a bat.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: Or tap a bat?
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: It could be tap a bat, but if it's bears dolphins, that extra ticket better go to me next year because it'll be his team versus my team.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_00]: And one of us would be crushed by the end of it.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, more likely it's going to be Bear's Jaguars and we're just we're just seeing what we want to see, you know, what the aqua and and maybe that's teal and and it means that the Jaguars are going to get in.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_00]: Roya Rumble.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see the Roya Rumble?
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: You saw the Roya Rumble.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: You told me saw the Roya Rumble.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: What did you think of it?
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, by watch.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: I watched the Royal Rumble.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly wasn't wasn't my favorite Royal Rumble I've ever watched.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: WWE, at least for me personally, is becoming harder to watch and it's not just WWE.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of the television product.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think wrestling is morphing into something that I don't necessarily recognize anymore.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: You know, WWE's doing a lot of this stuff over in Saudi, and they got the TKO merger and takeover, and it's just, it doesn't look like it did.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_00]: When I was growing up, it doesn't look like it did when, you know, Vince McMahon.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_00]: I know he has had a lot of controversies, but when Vince McMahon was in charge of the company,
- 44:07[SPEAKER_00]: It felt like WWE still had the heart and soul of pro wrestling in mind.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: And now it just feels like it's being sold to the highest bidder.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_00]: Which just happens to be the Saudi government.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: And it just, it doesn't feel the same to me.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess the only positive for me about the event being in Saudi Arabia was that I got to watch it at one o'clock in the afternoon.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of staying up late and pass my bedtime and
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: have a couple beers at one p.m. and then sober up before it was time to get some sleep.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_00]: So other than that, I thought it was an average show.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_00]: It was fine.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't hate anything.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't love anything.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Glunter and AJ was pretty good.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_00]: But other than that, it was an event that happened and how they moved forward.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because one thing that I did notice, and by the way, I liked all of these events at night so I way I can drink myself to sleep.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: When you go to bed drunk, there's nothing like it.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: You go to bed, you're kind of drunk.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: The next thing you do is you open your eyes and it's 9 a.m.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's awesome.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of the greatest things ever.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's my favorite thing about going to bed drunk.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's odd.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion, it's odd.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: Roman Reigns winning, like I understand, okay, you're going to bring them back, okay, but we know he's a part timer, okay?
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: The booking of some of these Saudi shows, I don't know.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's just fishy to me.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that that their sports entertainment division in Saudi Arabia, which I think is run by,
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: by Turkey Alshik, which is the guy who is essentially owns boxing now, and he's doing a great job at boxing because he's making all the great fights, but he's doing the match making.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way that Triple H is allowing the Saudis to do some of his booking.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: Are they?
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: would say at this point, everything is negotiable.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to throw a couple extra million on there, or a couple extra 100 million onto your price that you're paying to have the Royal Rumble in Saudi, I think WWE says, alright, cool, whatever, whatever you want, man, you want
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: You want to pay for this guy, you want to pay for that guy, you want to pay to have this person win and this person lose.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: We'll let you do it.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: They're just, they're just racking up the big bucks right now.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: And, and that's part of what I'm talking about with this, this, the soul of pro wrestling being sold.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, at the end of the day,
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: Wrestling is still performance art, right?
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's still an art form.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: And when you take away the soul of an art form, then what are we really doing out here?
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: At this point, you're just fake fighting in your underwear.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_00]: And there's nothing romantic about that in my opinion.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like the professional wrestling is changing at least at that level.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still doing a lot of stuff on the independent level here and we're still
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: keeping that in mind that we want to listen to our fan base and give them what they want and we want to make them feel something.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of times WWE just feels like they want to make as much money as humanly possible and if they can do that through allowing whatever salty federation to book some of the show, I wouldn't put a pass them to allow that to happen.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, you said soul and I completely agree with you.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, you know, the National Championship game.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that this was instructive for the Super Bowl parking was 400 bucks.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: Which makes perfect sense.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's 400 bucks to park at the Super Bowl.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like you want to tell again at the Super Bowl.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of a fucking big deal.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_01]: So that it cost you 400 bucks.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you write share with with three other people that are going to the Super Bowl.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: Cost you 100 each.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's no big deal.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: At the National Championship game, it was $1,100 to park.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's ridiculous.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: The cost of some of these events is ridiculous.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: I love to go, look, I bought right before the pandemic.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: I bought both days of WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: I bought both days.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: I remember exactly what I paid.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: I paid 450 per day per person.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I spent 1800 bucks for two days, four tickets.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's nothing wrong with that.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: mixed perfect sense like if you want to go to a Stanley Cup finals game, it's going to cost you about $1,000 to take it.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's normal.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: But now it's like $3,000 per ticket for a weekend pass for WrestleMania, that's not, look, I do well, Marick, I do well.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: I do well enough to spend 1800 bucks on WrestleMania tickets, which I did, for two days.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: I can't afford $3,000 for what kind of stupid shit is that?
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to cost me $6,000 to take my daughter for two days of WrestleMania.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: $6,000 dollars?
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: I rather give her the $6,000 and, you know, she could pay down her car or whatever credit card bill she has or whatever, you know, expenses she has a college, then spend it on wrestling tickets like that's part of my issue with what's happening in sports is the costs are just ridiculous nowadays.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: They're pricing out the every man, you know, you want to be able to take your whole family out for a night, a fun for a night of enjoyment, you want to be able to not have to worry about how you're going to pay for your groceries next week.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, it's just, it's not possible.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's not humanly possible for the average American to buy tickets to any of these events and be able to, to, to,
- 50:03[SPEAKER_00]: continue living life like they want to live life.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's just they're price gouging all of us whether you're going to a sporting event, whether you're going to a concert.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_00]: If it's a major thing, you better be ready to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_00]: And it's honestly it's pretty sad.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty sad in my opinion.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_00]: And they're going to drive people away from attending these things
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: Paying what?
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: $12,000 to go to WrestleMania?
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: Observe.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_00]: You could sit at home, watch it for 30 bucks when you pay your ESPN unlimited subscription.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_00]: You can sit at home have everybody over and have a big ol' party.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to drive people away from going to these events.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_00]: You just are.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that's why this coming year, my daughter's at the age that she wants to go to events, and I'm trying to get her into it, and this year we're going to go to about three games.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go to college football, because that's still, you know, relatively affordable.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's only a hundred and ten dollars to park, you know, so you get to tailgate for a football game.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: Good seats cost like a hundred and twenty dollars per person, so, you know, I'll take my
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: It'll take, it'll cost us maybe all in less than 500 bucks for a game.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: You do that three times in a season.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's that terrible, you know?
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: And college football, you know, we have a good team down here, so that's going to be a lot of fun.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_01]: But guess what?
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's probably on the way, too.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's on the way out as well.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's well.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, in a couple of years, I'm on a be like, ah, you know, we're going to do the three hurricane games this year again, right?
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: And my daughters will say, yeah, and then I'm going to look online,
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: Whoa!
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: Look at the prices.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: Look where they're gone now.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: Nevermind.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess we're watching Colin's football at home again.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're going to call it right here.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, next week, we'll shoot the shit again once again.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we do at the office.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: How do you think, uh, our first episode of this season?
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: Season three by the way of the office season.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: How do you think it went?
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: Fantastic.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we've ever done.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: We will talk to you guys again next week.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_00]: Peace!
- 52:19[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening to the Off-Seats American Out!
- 52:23[SPEAKER_00]: Until next time, raise your fans, raise your glasses, and we'll talk to you next time.
