- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10It is about butt guts. Scary Movie, The podcast where
- 0:15we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd, and all
- 0:19of our favorite. And we's favorite scary movies
- 0:21because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its fan
- 0:24base. Even if we don't always get it,
- 0:26but especially when we do. My name is Travis.
- 0:29My name is Jesse. And welcome back everybody.
- 0:32Hey, we're back in the world of Final Destination.
- 0:35We are back with Nick Zano and we can finally say this is the
- 0:39Nick Zano movie that is about butt guts.
- 0:43That is right If you if you are very confused, which I'm sure
- 0:46many of you are, this is a call back to our Joyride 2 episode to
- 0:49go listen to that if you want some context.
- 0:51And if you have the context, then hopefully you are just as
- 0:55excited as us about this joke a year in the making.
- 0:59It was so stupid, but you know what?
- 1:01It was worth it. I think.
- 1:02So I think it works. And on that episode, almost a
- 1:05year ago, I made a note in our room.
- 1:09It is about butt guts. It's.
- 1:10Still here somewhere and it's. Still here?
- 1:11It's right there. Yeah, you're right.
- 1:13Yeah. So I wouldn't forget.
- 1:15Man, I'm glad you remembered. OK, so we're off to a fucking
- 1:19big star right here this week. Yeah, well, that's great because
- 1:22I don't have anything other than I've got announcements unless.
- 1:27It's a meet up weekend and our schedule's a little messed up
- 1:31and I'm having surgery in a couple days.
- 1:33So yeah, we just, we didn't do. All over the place we're.
- 1:36A little bit all over the place, but it's OK.
- 1:38It's OK, cuz we're here and we're talking about Final
- 1:40Destination and I guess that just leads us into you giving us
- 1:45background information. One thing though, we do have our
- 1:49poll for next month's Patreon vote coming up around the time
- 1:53this episode is released. It should be up by now.
- 1:55Good remembering there. Yeah.
- 1:57So just be on the lookout for that.
- 1:59We haven't made that. We haven't.
- 2:01Yeah, we haven't posted it yet, but keep a lookout if you are a
- 2:05budget tier patron. All right.
- 2:07So I guess we're just going to get into this thing.
- 2:09Yeah, Yeah. Great.
- 2:10So let's talk about the final destination, the very last one.
- 2:13They never made one ever again in the end.
- 2:15It's it this started almost it feels like the trend with like
- 2:20the requels. Kind of, yeah.
- 2:23Because it's like we're going to give it the same name.
- 2:26I I just mean give it the same name.
- 2:28It's kind of hard to qualify anything as a requel or a sequel
- 2:34or a prequel or a reboot, anything with Final Destination
- 2:38because. It's all consistent.
- 2:40It it just it's installments in the franchise.
- 2:43Yeah, You know what I mean? Like where other than one and
- 2:47two, because we get clear rivers in the second one, they're just
- 2:51it's almost kind of anthology. Yeah, well, we we may have some
- 2:56connections here. I'm going to go into some stuff
- 2:58here in a little bit, but yeah, OK, so let's just dive on into
- 3:01it. OK.
- 3:02OK. So the Final Destination release
- 3:03August 28th, 2009. We watched it on our DVD and if
- 3:07you would like to watch it, you cannot stream it as of right
- 3:10now. Maybe next month it may appear
- 3:12back on streaming services, but right now, perhaps right now,
- 3:15you'd have to rinse it. You can rent it on Plex Prime,
- 3:18Apple TV, YouTube, or Fandango at home.
- 3:21Written by Eric Brass, who returns from Final Destination
- 3:25Two. OK, OK Directed by David R
- 3:27Ellis, who also returns from Final Destination 2 and also
- 3:31directed another movie that we talked about not that long ago,
- 3:33Snakes on the Plane. Oh, that was him.
- 3:36Yeah, it was I I was surprised too.
- 3:39Music by Brian Tyler and special effects make up by K&B Effects
- 3:44all. That for them.
- 3:46Starring Bobby Campo as Nick, Chantelle Van Santen as a Warri,
- 3:51Nick Zano as Hunt, Hayley Webb as Janet, and Mckelty Williamson
- 3:56as George Jesse. Time for our favorite game on
- 3:59the show, Budget or bug Ted? I think this is budget, I think
- 4:05it's on the lower end of the budget side of things.
- 4:07But considering it's 3D, we've got KNB, it's it was the 4th one
- 4:14in what's been a fairly successful franchise.
- 4:16I think they had a little bit of money to play with well, but I
- 4:19do think they ran out near the end.
- 4:21You did OK, because I think that's why we don't see.
- 4:25I think that's why we get a lot of radiography at the end.
- 4:28That's my prediction. I don't know.
- 4:30Well, you've done all the background for this and there
- 4:32wasn't anything for me to overhear folks.
- 4:34So this is my conjecture. The budget was $40 million, so
- 4:38it was pretty. Sizable, yeah.
- 4:39So it was just budget. Budget, It was so much money
- 4:41that they were originally planning on shooting in US, in
- 4:43Canada. And David Ariellas was like,
- 4:46hey, let's shoot in New Orleans because let's help their local
- 4:50economy there, you know, and they're like, his excuse was we
- 4:53had the money. So yeah, why not, you know, go
- 4:55for it. Absolutely. 27.4 million at the
- 4:59opening box office. 186 OK worldwide gross.
- 5:03Good, good. So close to 180.
- 5:05So, so close. It's $6 million.
- 5:08Stop, sell. Like it's like why can't anybody
- 5:10ever purchase this movie? Because we we made $180,000.
- 5:14Yeah, 5.1 IMDb score. Rude.
- 5:18OK, so I have a theme for three movies that also released in
- 5:212009. OK, the theme is the least liked
- 5:25in this series. Oh.
- 5:28No. Yeah, because the final
- 5:30destination here is usually the one that comes up as the least
- 5:33favorite amongst fans. So I think I've got 3 movies
- 5:37here that are the least liked in their little franchises.
- 5:39OK, well you know, it's always subjective and up for debate,
- 5:44but I think there's an argument for all of these here.
- 5:46The first one is Wrong Turn 3. Now, I know a lot of people hate
- 5:50Wrong Turn 3. It's not our least favorite, but
- 5:54I think it is a lot of people's least favorite.
- 5:57Listen, Wrong Turn 3 exists in a franchise that also has Wrong
- 6:00Turn 6, so yeah. There's a lot of contenders in
- 6:04that one right there. It's my least favorite out of
- 6:06the first 3. Don't we wait?
- 6:09I can't remember what was the IMDb score for wrong Turn 6.
- 6:13It was way too high for us, I remember.
- 6:15I don't remember. We gotta look this up.
- 6:18I gotta I gotta compare it's. Okay, I've got my, I've got my
- 6:20phone and my IMDb app. Okay, I'm always ready for this.
- 6:24I'm so happy. I honestly I think if we pulled
- 6:27up my phone like app usage, IMDb would probably be more used than
- 6:32you should be able to Anything else.
- 6:33I guarantee you wrong. Turn 6 last resort has a 4.1 out
- 6:37of 10 that is that. No, that's still too high.
- 6:39Yeah, that's still too high. That is lower than this one.
- 6:42The IMDb for a Wrong turn 3 is 4.6, but that released October
- 6:4820th, 2009. Three million budgets don't have
- 6:50the growth since it was straight to DVD and like I said, 4.6 on
- 6:53IMDb. OK, second movie.
- 6:55Was it a 4.6 on IMDb? 4.6 on IMDb. 4.6 on IMDb OK 4.
- 7:00.6 on IMDb it. Is higher than 4.1 on IMDb
- 7:04because it's four point. 60 God. OK, we can't IMDb.
- 7:07We're gonna get to that. Point Talia.
- 7:09We're gonna get to that point where like saying IMDb is gonna
- 7:12be like gibberish to. Me.
- 7:13Yeah, I feel like these aren't the right letters.
- 7:16OK, so the second one, Halloween 2 Rob zombies that is.
- 7:20Oh, I will always defend that one as well.
- 7:22Well, a lot of people will, but a lot of people, that one was
- 7:24the least liked one until Halloween Nens arrived.
- 7:29And I think Halloween Nens has dethroned it here.
- 7:32I think a lot of people still hate Halloween too, but.
- 7:34Rumbling Maternal. God, don't get me started.
- 7:39All right, so that came out August 28th, 2915 million
- 7:44budget, 39 million gross 4.8 IMDb.
- 7:48See. It's not that light.
- 7:50It you know what, it's higher than 4.6 on IMDb.
- 7:53That is true. That is true.
- 7:56I was hoping wrong Turner was going to be the highest, but no.
- 7:58But don't worry, nothing can beat this one.
- 8:00Oh no. And this one I picked for us
- 8:03because it's a sequel to a Toby movie that we covered that we
- 8:09really, really hated, that we were really hoping was going to
- 8:12be fun. The Toby movie that we covered
- 8:15was Are You Scared? This is Are You scared too?
- 8:20I don't remember, are you scared?
- 8:21It's the, it's basically the saw knock off where they are in the
- 8:26warehouse and they have to like play the game.
- 8:28They think it's a game show and they submit the tapes for that.
- 8:30Oh. My God, they made a sequel to
- 8:31that. We watched it.
- 8:32Don't you remember? They're like out in the
- 8:34abandoned building in the field and like, like they're like
- 8:38having the, it's basically like they're going to checkpoints
- 8:43across like an area and they're having to like, it's basically
- 8:50like geocaching where they're like having to go to a location
- 8:52where they get coordinates. Yeah, You remember what I'm
- 8:54talking about. OK, yeah.
- 8:55And we were. So disappointed with the sequel.
- 8:58I think I let my brain just erase that memory.
- 9:00I'm sorry to remind. You to protect it.
- 9:02But that is why I included it because it is our we select in
- 9:06the franchise and I would imagine just everybody's because
- 9:09it's got an IMDb of 2.2. Wow.
- 9:12Really, really, really bad. I think it deserves that.
- 9:15Really. It's a it's a horrendous movie.
- 9:17I. Didn't even remember it.
- 9:19So that came out February 10th, 2009 750,000 budget did not work
- 9:25it at all. Don't have the gross and yeah,
- 9:29that's that. OK, all right, so on 2 tag
- 9:32lines, tag lines, tag lines. The one on the poster is rests
- 9:36in pieces, however I am having to pull up my phone because I
- 9:40had to screenshot the rest Aw. Man, we are eating good today.
- 9:44This is a This is a first for the final destinations.
- 9:48They've usually been lacking in tag lines.
- 9:50I'm happy for them. All right, so here we go.
- 9:53Take the trip in real D3D. OK.
- 9:56That's not really. That's just advertising the
- 9:58technology. Who's real DI know what that's
- 10:02supposed to mean? I'm sorry.
- 10:03Just because you know it's happening doesn't mean you'll
- 10:05see it coming. That's actually, you know what,
- 10:09Honestly, that's pretty good. That's not too bad for for this
- 10:11franchise. It's pretty good.
- 10:13On August 28th, prepare for the 3D thrill ride everyone's dying
- 10:16to see. Dying to.
- 10:19See, on August 28th, no matter what you do or how loud you
- 10:22scream, death will find you. OK.
- 10:25Death. Save the best for three.
- 10:28DI OK, I mean. How will you die?
- 10:34I. No mercy, no escape, no limits.
- 10:40No mercy, no escape, no limits, no limits.
- 10:44No limits. What are limits?
- 10:46OK, whatever. I don't like that one.
- 10:48And keep going. Death saved the best for last.
- 10:52Lie. That is a light room.
- 10:53Yeah, all. Right.
- 10:55And there were a couple of others on there, but it was just
- 10:58like this movie is in 3D. Can you believe?
- 11:00It we didn't get any foreign language ones.
- 11:02Those are my favorite when we have the foreign language ones
- 11:04listed on there because I don't always know what they're
- 11:07translated to, but I like. It's usually that they exist
- 11:10very loose translation. That is, there's something wrong
- 11:13about it because it's trying to translate like words into like,
- 11:18like idioms into like the English and stuff like that, and
- 11:22it just does not translate. You have to basically reword the
- 11:24meaning of the sentence instead. People don't understand how
- 11:28those like idioms are like, I guess like ethnocentric or
- 11:34whatever, because it's like where you're living at, it's
- 11:37your culture or whatever that makes the idiom make sense.
- 11:39So you can't just translate it into another language exactly
- 11:42just because you know the words. OK, so that's neither here nor
- 11:45there. What is here is fun facts.
- 11:47Yay, I love fun facts. It's so.
- 11:49Fun. Well, you know, this is weird
- 11:50because there wasn't a whole lot on this movie.
- 11:53Yeah, so I do have some interesting things right off the
- 11:57bat agreeing with this after the success of three.
- 12:00OK. And it did really well.
- 12:01So, like, fuck it, let's go. I don't know why they decided to
- 12:04make this the final one. It didn't really say.
- 12:07I think that they just wanted to like, I don't.
- 12:10I guess they wanted to make it an event because they
- 12:13immediately went against this and released 5 two years later.
- 12:17Yeah, so that one, I'm excited to talk about that one because I
- 12:21remember going to see it in the theatre with our friends Taylor
- 12:24and being shocked. But we'll talk about that next
- 12:26month. Yeah, yeah, it was originally
- 12:28going to have Wong, who directed Three Return.
- 12:31However, he had a conflict with a movie titled Dragon Ball
- 12:37Evolution. Oh no, Wong, you chose wrong.
- 12:42I know you. Chose wrong, although he did get
- 12:45to work with James Marsters who fought for any good parts that
- 12:50were in that movie. Jesse and I had a conversation
- 12:52with James Marsters. That's the same, right?
- 12:54Yes. And yeah.
- 12:56We got to talk about Dragon Ball and Buffy with him, and he
- 12:58signed our thing of Piccolo. Just saying this movie sucks.
- 13:02Yeah, he keeps it there and he waits for people to ask for the
- 13:06signature because we like started talking about Dragon
- 13:09Ball with him. And he's like, oh, I just keep
- 13:11this here. So that way when people see it
- 13:13and they want it signed, I write this movie sucks on it.
- 13:15And Travis was like, I was going to have you sign my Sensi bands,
- 13:18but I would much rather have you sign that, please.
- 13:21He's so good. I love nerding out about that
- 13:23with him. He's a big fan of the series.
- 13:24So yeah, he's the he's the reason Piccolo was green in
- 13:27Dragon Ball Evolution, because they weren't gonna do that.
- 13:29Yeah, they were gonna make him like Grayish or something like
- 13:32that. Yeah.
- 13:33So, you know, and I can at least thank Wong for stepping away
- 13:38from this and directing that because if it weren't for that
- 13:40movie, we wouldn't still have Dragon Ball to the stay
- 13:43releasing because it it's what caused the curatory on me to
- 13:46come out of retirement and bring the series back the.
- 13:48Flap of the butterfly wings, man.
- 13:50Yeah, it was, you know, it was meant to be.
- 13:53OK, So I don't think the opening was necessarily inspired by
- 13:57this, but if there's anybody that has ever seen the opening
- 14:00of this movie and thought there's no way this fucking shit
- 14:05would happen, I've got a little story for.
- 14:07You Oh, no, it absolutely does. There's a like, they didn't used
- 14:10to have those giant safety fences around speedways like
- 14:15that until there was like a huge accident that killed people in
- 14:18the stands. Yeah, well, it might have been
- 14:19this one right here. So it was something it happened
- 14:22at an event back in. I'll see What year was this?
- 14:26I have it screenshotted right here. 1955 it was called 24
- 14:30hours of the men's in South France.
- 14:34So it's a 24 hour event where they were just going non-stop
- 14:38for 24 hours and and. How long was it?
- 14:4124 hours The disaster occurred when a mid race collision sent
- 14:45Mercedes driver Pierre Lavey in his car into a spectator arena,
- 14:50causing his car to disintegrate and throwing him onto the
- 14:53racetrack, killing him instantly.
- 14:54Pieces of debris from the from both the car and the arena flew
- 14:58into the crowd, killing at least 82 people.
- 15:02I don't know if this is the specific one I've heard, but
- 15:05back like it was back when Discover, TLC, whatever those
- 15:09types of channels were like had more medical drama type stuff on
- 15:13like real life accidents and trauma, You know, like trauma,
- 15:16life in the ER, those types of things.
- 15:19And I, I remember them talking about this 'cause it wasn't just
- 15:23that one event that had accidents.
- 15:25It was like a common occurrence was like accidents, having tires
- 15:30and pieces of cars and what not flying into the stand.
- 15:32So that's why they put up those giant fences.
- 15:34Now, I think the the reason this one stands out to me is like
- 15:38because there's a lot of people that die in the opening of this
- 15:40movie. I think it's like 50.
- 15:41Some people like that right there.
- 15:43I thought was a crazy amount but in this right here 80 some
- 15:48people died. More people than than the movie.
- 15:51Yeah, this is tragedy. Yeah.
- 15:53And in the movie, it was people like, it was like the the
- 15:56racetrack collapsing. Also, this right here is just
- 15:59from debris coming out and just, like, killing people, which is
- 16:01fucking crazy. Yeah.
- 16:03So. Yeah.
- 16:04And that this has always been one of the openings.
- 16:06I was like, you know, like, interesting but not quite as
- 16:09relatable or realistic as I would.
- 16:12You know, most of the others are in the series, but here we are.
- 16:15It's something that actually has happened.
- 16:16So if you've ever asked why was Tony Todd 9 in this movie, it's
- 16:20because he was busy filming Transformers, Revenge of the
- 16:22Fallen. So another scheduling conflict.
- 16:25Was that? I don't feel like that was one
- 16:27of the good Transformers. I don't know.
- 16:30I really don't know. I I've not really.
- 16:33That was never really a series I was that into.
- 16:35My dad loved them though. I you know what that tracks.
- 16:37Yeah, my dad, I I went to the theaters to go watch one of them
- 16:41with them in 3D. It might have been this one.
- 16:45Other than that, there's not a whole lot of other things.
- 16:47However, I do have a list of all of the callbacks from previous
- 16:52movies in here. Yeah, there were a lot of nods
- 16:56to those first 3 movies. And there were a lot that we
- 16:58never picked up, Bonnie. And I've got some right here to
- 17:01go over. So of course, this one Jesse
- 17:03spotted last night. The Speedway is called McKinley
- 17:06Speedway. Never noticed that before.
- 17:08They sit in section 180. You got that one.
- 17:11Yep, at the place there in the background of the coffee shop
- 17:14that they're at, they are discussing faulty roller coaster
- 17:17equipment. Oh, I did miss that.
- 17:20The homeless man that Janet gives the quarter to.
- 17:24His dog's name is Browning, which is the last name of Alex
- 17:27from the first. Movie Browning OK.
- 17:30The beer that Carter drinks, the racist guy is the is Heispell L,
- 17:37which is the same beer that the the guy in two that is drinking
- 17:40and driving on the Interstate is drinking and the same beer truck
- 17:44that pins then and three in the drive through.
- 17:48OK. And that's all I've got right
- 17:51there. I think the other one obviously
- 17:53that is very in your face is the Queer Rivers.
- 17:55Yeah. Moments.
- 17:56Yeah, that like what was it like a pool or whatever, some ad?
- 18:01Yeah. And there's there's one other I
- 18:04think like towards the end of the movie, I think around the
- 18:07final premonition event, the the top of the bus is 180 also.
- 18:14So, you know, it's just some interesting things that like I
- 18:17have never caught. I like that that's a thing in
- 18:19the series. If you ever want to just be
- 18:21Eagle Eye and just check every detail, there's always something
- 18:26there. Yeah.
- 18:26And, you know, props to them for actually being that deep with it
- 18:30there. Like to have like, the beer from
- 18:32the game that the guy's drinking into while he's driving, you
- 18:35know, and stuff like that. You know, it's pretty cool.
- 18:38So that's it for my fun facts. OK all.
- 18:40Right, those are fun. So let's get into our good, bad,
- 18:43ugly, and absurd. Jesse, what did you like about
- 18:45this one? Well, like I said, I I defend
- 18:49this movie. I think a lot of people don't
- 18:53like it because of the the forced 3D moments and Nick is
- 18:58kind of a Gary Stew, which I'm sure we'll talk about here in a
- 19:01little bit. But I think it takes like
- 19:05elements from the previous movies and it expands upon them.
- 19:08You know, like we, we've kind of gone through this developing the
- 19:13premonition senses and like Nick, this song is just like,
- 19:15hey man, you're getting dreams with images.
- 19:17This is what you're doing 'cause, you know, we had Mary
- 19:22Elizabeth Winstead character having the photos and then we
- 19:26had like flashes of things in the second one where they see
- 19:31the pigeons and they go to Warren the kid and his mom about
- 19:34pigeons. And then the first one is just
- 19:36like a little bit more of like weird feelings.
- 19:38It's like it kind of builds upon it.
- 19:39I love the second premonition in this.
- 19:43I do too. We get a whole new premonition
- 19:45at the end and it was just so unexpected.
- 19:47It's better than the first one, yeah.
- 19:50The Mall 1 is better I think. And I don't know if that's
- 19:53mostly just because we could probably relate more to the Mall
- 19:561. Maybe.
- 19:57Yeah, I just. I don't know, I, I feel like the
- 20:01chaos from the racetrack is just all over the place.
- 20:04While the one at the mall, like there's more suspense in that
- 20:08moment because like things are just like happening at the
- 20:11racetrack and here, like we have her like going down the
- 20:14escalator and fighting for her life for a moment.
- 20:16We don't really like everybody just dies instantly at the
- 20:19racetrack. I think another part of it too,
- 20:21is that we're seeing those same signs that happened at the
- 20:25racetrack are happening there. We know that they thought they
- 20:28had broken the chain, and then Nick and George have found out
- 20:32that they haven't actually broken the chain.
- 20:34So we have more of those elements built up for us as an
- 20:37audience for what that is. I also, Carter, are you fucking
- 20:42racist? Haven't consistently had like
- 20:45super bad people be targets and death, Yeah.
- 20:49Usually they're like assholes at best, but not like terrible
- 20:52people. And so it's interesting that
- 20:56they put this character in here just like kind of as a death
- 21:00comes for everyone type of thing.
- 21:03But I also really appreciate it that he is the first death
- 21:06because it's like, hey, he is really bad and he's going to
- 21:09make you uncomfortable on screen and we're going to get him out
- 21:11of the way and we're going to make it as ironic as goddamn
- 21:14possible for him. So I really like, I am
- 21:16uncomfortable when he's on screen and then I appreciate
- 21:18that they get him out of the way as quickly as possible.
- 21:21Yeah, I just, I. And it's got a lot of
- 21:23interesting nods to the like that the opening credits is like
- 21:27all of those radiographs of what happened in the first 3 movies.
- 21:31And then same at the and and I, I think we get some interesting
- 21:35things that have kind of been asked in previous movies, but
- 21:38not addressed because we have Hunt and Janet die at the same
- 21:44time in the vision basically, and they're split up.
- 21:47And so it's like, how are we handling?
- 21:48These two, that was that was one I liked because the premonition
- 21:51that you got had both of their deaths.
- 21:53And yeah, which was. Really crazy and they happened
- 21:56at like very different locations.
- 21:58So how do you even? What do you do with that?
- 22:01And I, I think that kind of builds up on this, like, sense
- 22:03of teamwork. It's not necessarily like
- 22:05sticking together so that way like death can't take us all out
- 22:08at once, but it's more like, hey, if we're all in a big
- 22:10group, we can look out for each other.
- 22:12Yeah. So, so I just, I, I like this
- 22:16movie a lot. I like the world that it takes
- 22:19us into. I like that it expands upon
- 22:23things we're familiar with, with the franchise.
- 22:26I, I don't think it's a perfect movie by any means, but I, I
- 22:30think that it does what the other movies do successfully,
- 22:35and I don't understand why it gets as much hate as it does.
- 22:38Yeah. Truly, OK, I I'm with you.
- 22:41Like, like Jesse and I have been saying from the beginning, we
- 22:44both enjoy this one. I like this one a lot too.
- 22:47But a big part of it is because like we do have those two major
- 22:50events in this movie, which, you know, like that really does bump
- 22:54it up a grade for sure. It does a lot of heavy lifting
- 22:57for it because there are a lot of shortcomings for this movie
- 22:59too. Like I'll be realistic, but I
- 23:02think this is probably the closest to a can't be final
- 23:06destination you'll get because there's something about it that
- 23:08feels a little bit off, like not everybody's giving, like it's a
- 23:13little bit more hammy. I see, but that's my thing is
- 23:16that I feel the same way about 3.
- 23:18I see I don't feel that way about 3.
- 23:20I feel like people give legitimately good performances
- 23:22in three. I think here this is you got me
- 23:26talking about some bad stuff. Now let me let's talk about some
- 23:28good stuff, because I'm going to go into this in my bad, but I I
- 23:31just like it's I agree with you. It does feel like a culmination
- 23:36of everything that has happened in the series.
- 23:38I like how I do agree with you. Like I like how the premonitions
- 23:41are kind of building over time. I I really don't have a whole
- 23:45lot to add other than what you have said.
- 23:46Like I it's just a fun one, you know, like it's it's got fun
- 23:51enough characters, it's entertaining enough.
- 23:53Like it you know, it may not be the most suspenseful one, but I
- 23:56have a good time with it and I really don't know what else to
- 24:00say other than that. OK, so OK, let's get into the
- 24:03bed then. OK.
- 24:04Now when you talk about the handiness and the hampiness of
- 24:08this, I think it kind of flip flops from the third one because
- 24:13I think the third one has really bad dialogue that we managed to
- 24:16have actors deliver well, OK, But the dialogue on its face,
- 24:19terrible, really bad. I think we kind of flip that
- 24:23around on this because we do have some awkwardness between
- 24:25those characters and they have a hard time.
- 24:30Like is the actors are having a hard time delivering it and
- 24:32giving us that chemistry that we need 'cause it feels very much
- 24:37like if I found out that they shot that last scene in the cafe
- 24:42first, I would buy it because it doesn't seem like these three
- 24:45really know each other that well.
- 24:47It's awkward. It's a little bit awkward.
- 24:49And I, I was kind of paying attention to that because I
- 24:51like, that's been your theory for a long time.
- 24:54But like, I feel like there's just not a lot of chemistry
- 24:56throughout the entire movie between Wari and Nick
- 24:59especially. They're just that's not a strong
- 25:01pairing if you ask me. And I feel like they flesh out
- 25:05so many of the side characters that are seer in this.
- 25:11He doesn't have much characterization, which we've
- 25:16talked about before on other shows, like we've discussed
- 25:19this, Yeah. And it does make it a little bit
- 25:23harder to follow him along. But I, for me, like the other
- 25:27set pieces and everything, make up for it.
- 25:29But I do see how that's a major flaw and a major issue with this
- 25:34movie. And then of course, there's also
- 25:36the whole like, it's 3D and it's a very in your face 3D.
- 25:40You know, I think there are some 3D movies that you can watch it
- 25:43in 2D and it's not as jarring. But this one, it's like, yeah,
- 25:46well, this was clearly meant for 3D.
- 25:48But yeah, I'd say that's probably the biggest thing for
- 25:53me with this. OK, I just don't think the
- 25:56actors are the best here. I think the biggest problem with
- 26:00the cast in the chemistry or getting to know the characters
- 26:02is most of the movies before have a little bit of like a
- 26:06little bit more getting to know the people before something
- 26:09happens. I was reading this is the first
- 26:11one that has the main event happened before the opening
- 26:14credits. Oh shit.
- 26:16Yeah. And that, I think really
- 26:18explains it because we don't get a sense of these people before
- 26:22this event. We just see them after.
- 26:24And I think we actually said something like this about two.
- 26:27Yeah, cuz we didn't see Kimberly really having fun with her
- 26:32friends. Yeah, but I feel like it's even
- 26:33more because we get everybody throughout the movie.
- 26:36This time her friends die in two, and we.
- 26:38Don't really. See her as herself in that
- 26:41moment. But here we just we don't get
- 26:43anything like that with these characters.
- 26:44We just see them in like stress mode the entire time, which I
- 26:48feel like that it it causes like like less of a connection to the
- 26:53character for me at least. But yeah, the the bad 3D, it
- 26:58just really, really stands out. There are so many movies of this
- 27:02era that did 3D so well and it's not that noticeable.
- 27:06Like we watch Saw Seven all the time and that's a 3D movie, but
- 27:12it works so well in 2D because you.
- 27:14Know aside from the pink blood. Aside from the pink blood, but
- 27:17we did watch it in 3D not that long ago and it was really.
- 27:19Cool, the blood doesn't look pink in three.
- 27:21D it works in both yeah, this one right here they lean way too
- 27:24hard into the 3D and I get it. It probably was kind of neat at
- 27:29the moment watching that in theaters, but on re watches on
- 27:33T2D devices, it's it just doesn't have the same effect and
- 27:38it just makes it makes the effects that much weaker than
- 27:42they have been in the past. Like it's weird for the movie to
- 27:45look worse than the previous films to yeah, when you have
- 27:49more money and more. In a in a studio like can be
- 27:53doing the effect. Yeah, it really is just a little
- 27:56bit unfortunate because of that. OK, Yeah.
- 27:59OK. I think we're we're good here.
- 28:00Then with the bad. Let's talk about ugly Carter.
- 28:04That's my that's all I wrote too, is Carter.
- 28:06He's the worst thing in this movie.
- 28:08Yeah, I mean, he's a racist piece of shit, yeah.
- 28:12All right, Well then, absurd. There's a lot that's absurd.
- 28:18I got mine. Go ahead, go ahead.
- 28:20So OK George, how fast he buys into this?
- 28:26Immediately he is. He is with them right away.
- 28:29He catches them snooping around at this like the the race track
- 28:34and he's like, OK, you're right. Here's the footage.
- 28:37Like that is so insane that he would like go show these random
- 28:40teenagers footage of people dying just because they think
- 28:43that. They're young adults, they're
- 28:44not teenagers. OK, how old are they supposed to
- 28:47be? Like 20s.
- 28:50Lori makes a mention about studying for finals, so I think
- 28:53she's college, yeah, I'm assuming college age.
- 28:55OK. And they're, they're planning a
- 28:57trip to Amsterdam, so they're, and they're living independently
- 29:00in an apartment, so. OK, so 20s.
- 29:02Yeah, OK, early 20s then. Either way it's still insane and
- 29:06my only theory is like he just needed friends.
- 29:10He was looking for an excuse to hang out with people and he's
- 29:13like this is a great way for me to network and connect with
- 29:16people in the community. He was looking for that.
- 29:19The best I can explain is if you watch American Dad and the
- 29:24episode where Stan has amnesia and Francine takes him to the
- 29:29futon store and she tries to get the guy there.
- 29:32Yeah, I'm on board. I'm on board.
- 29:33She's. Like, wait, you haven't let me,
- 29:34like, explain. No, no, no.
- 29:35I got it. Let's go.
- 29:36Let's do this. Yeah.
- 29:37This is George. George is fully bought in.
- 29:40Navajo bitch. Like they're just like, all
- 29:43right, George, like we have it there.
- 29:44It's like, OK, OK. Yeah, yeah, I believe you.
- 29:46Like he's just like, so bought in immediately.
- 29:49And the final episode I have is the conversation that George and
- 29:52Nick have in the elevator, where there's like just doctors and
- 29:56nurses surrounding. Him.
- 29:57This is dark, but because George He has a past history of
- 30:02alcoholism. He was driving drunk the night
- 30:05his wife and daughter died. And he's in a A now and all of
- 30:09this. But you know, death starts
- 30:11coming for them. He feels like he's accepted it's
- 30:13his time to go. And we see him struggle with
- 30:17taking the decision to end his own life, but he's unable to
- 30:20because of death design and whatnot.
- 30:22And Nick and George, when they learn about the cowboy in the
- 30:28hospital, they go to make sure he's OK and they're talking
- 30:31about it on the elevator. And Nick goes, that's probably
- 30:34the reason you couldn't kill yourself was because the cowboy
- 30:37was still alive. And you see 3 characters in
- 30:39scrubs and lab coats try very hard to act like they are not
- 30:43mandatory reporters hearing this conversation.
- 30:46To add more to the campiness, I think this is meant to like I
- 30:50think the movie is implying that this is a private conversation
- 30:54that only they can hear, but they are speaking so loudly they
- 30:57are projecting. It no, the look of discomfort on
- 31:01the doctor's faces is just. Like they're pretending like
- 31:04they're not hearing AC word. Yeah, it it was just so funny.
- 31:09Come on, guys, you have to realize I can't understand what
- 31:12you're going through, but you have to realize how this sounds
- 31:14to the general public. Also here's my absurd OK and I
- 31:18can't believe I didn't remember this sooner.
- 31:20So she was gonna the mom, I forget what her actual name is.
- 31:27They don't. She's credit is a.
- 31:28MILF. Yeah, she's MILF.
- 31:30And. Then her husband's credit is
- 31:32Milf's husband. She is.
- 31:35She has a 5:00 appointment. The salon closes at six.
- 31:38She was going to get highlights, a haircut, style and pedicure in
- 31:46an hour. No, no, that wasn't ever going
- 31:49to happen anyway. Nope, that shit takes forever.
- 31:53Yeah, so that's that's how you know a man wrote this.
- 31:57Yeah, yeah, or somebody that didn't grow up with their mom
- 32:00doing here because I know that shit lasts a long time because I
- 32:02know. You, but you also know a
- 32:05surprisingly little amount of things too.
- 32:07I know how long an appointment lasts because sometimes if I
- 32:09need my mom, she's like, I got a color and I'm like, OK, that's
- 32:12going to be a couple of hours. Yeah, but like if I asked you to
- 32:15go get my wave wand you. No, I don't know.
- 32:20I'm not going to be able to inform the duties, but I am at
- 32:22least familiar with them. OK.
- 32:25Let's rate this then. OK.
- 32:27I like this one a lot. It's probably one of the ones I
- 32:31come back to more often. In terms of rewatch.
- 32:33I'm going to give it an 8.75. Wow, so this is your let's see I
- 32:38am the way you are with 3D on this one.
- 32:42I like this one, but it is it's the weakest one to me.
- 32:46Still I I agree with it that it's the weakest one, but I
- 32:49still think it's a good one overall.
- 32:51I'm gonna give it 675. 775 is our starting, yeah.
- 32:59Rich, All right, all right, We can do that.
- 33:01I can live with it. OK.
- 33:02I think that's around what we had.
- 33:03Final destination three had two maybe.
- 33:06All right, let's do this. Digging, digging, digging.
- 33:09Digging, Digging off. OK, so we start off, we're
- 33:12racing. Hunt is hoping to see a crash.
- 33:16Nick has brought snacks for everybody.
- 33:18And then he sits down. The bench breaks.
- 33:20This is just a bad start to everything.
- 33:23So that's never good. Hunt has some binoculars that
- 33:26are actually a flask, and he passes them down to Nick.
- 33:31And he says, Laurie says, oh, is that straight up Jack?
- 33:35And he goes, no, it's his buddy Jim.
- 33:38You can tell the difference between Jack Daniels and Jim
- 33:40Beam. Yeah, not if you're like not
- 33:42familiar with bourbon. No, we're just, you have to
- 33:44remember we're from Kentucky. We know this shit a little bit.
- 33:48So yeah. Nick is also making note of the
- 33:51race track. It's a little bit worn down
- 33:53structurally and they're. Nervous racks in the arena we
- 33:58Fun story. I got free tickets to see Auk
- 34:01football game a few years ago and we went and they were free
- 34:04because the seats were at the very tippy, tippy top.
- 34:07Like we were 2nd row from the back and there's a lot of
- 34:11structural sway when you were up that high.
- 34:13Scary. It was so scary.
- 34:15We came home and watched this movie because it just felt very
- 34:16appropriate. I.
- 34:18Remember that. Yeah.
- 34:19So we have on the racetrack, we have wind blows and some oil
- 34:25spills on the racetrack to my trap's off.
- 34:27I can't remember if that really plays a part in what's going on
- 34:30here at all. So I've got a few things written
- 34:32down too. It's interesting that we wrote
- 34:33certain things cuz I wrote that cowboy.
- 34:36And Stetson blocks Laurie's view.
- 34:39He ends up moving when she says, man, what did I miss?
- 34:41Yeah, we see the mom give her kids tampons for their ears
- 34:45because they didn't bring headphones for their chairs.
- 34:49Yeah, they didn't bring ear protection.
- 34:51Carter's a fucking racist. We see the cracks in the stands.
- 34:54We see one of the cars pulls into the pit.
- 34:56The pit crew is working on them, knocks over a bottle of oil.
- 35:00It creates a little bit of a spill.
- 35:03We see it like bolts are loosening on the safety fence.
- 35:08This is where we also back out enough to see that they're
- 35:10sitting in section 180. We see another pit crew has a
- 35:14screwdriver still stuck inside the car when the car drives off.
- 35:18Yeah, why did he put the screwdriver there in the 1st
- 35:20place? So it served no purpose.
- 35:22He was doing something I don't know, I'm not.
- 35:25Amateur hours am I? Dominic Toretto No.
- 35:27No amateur hour, right? There so when the car drives
- 35:31off, the screwdriver falls on the track, another car hits it,
- 35:34it shreds its tire, causes it to like blow out that car to crash,
- 35:38other car start crashing, it goes into the fence.
- 35:42Stand. Start falling.
- 35:44OK, here. Now you take tag team, pass it
- 35:47over to me. Boom.
- 35:47All right. So we have This is the order of
- 35:50events. Tire wax, the mechanic's
- 35:53girlfriend. Car flies into the stands.
- 35:56Mechanic falls back onto the wood where it stabs him through
- 36:00the back of the head through his mouth.
- 36:02Racist gets cut in half, as is his girlfriend.
- 36:07Mom or MILF gets trampled and then a motor flies and hits her
- 36:13on the stands. Cowboy gets torpedoed by a car.
- 36:17Stadium then collapses, which crushes Hunt and Janet and then
- 36:22something explodes which engulfs Lori and George.
- 36:25And then Nick does not. Actually we don't see him.
- 36:28Oh no, he gets blown into this. He gets.
- 36:29Blown back and he gets stabbed. Stabbed.
- 36:31Yeah. So that's the order of events
- 36:33that happened there. He comes too, at Hunt, saying,
- 36:36no, it's his buddy Jim. And he starts trying to get his
- 36:39friends out. And in classic Final Destination
- 36:41fashion, other people around him hear the commotion.
- 36:43They started saying, hey, it's not funny.
- 36:45And he's like, no, seriously, a crash is about to happen.
- 36:47And Hunt goes, of course there's a crash that's going to happen.
- 36:48There's always a crash that happens at these things they're
- 36:51fighting. George comes over and escorts
- 36:53people out. And so the fight is continuing
- 36:56on out in the parking lot. Then we start hearing crashes
- 37:00and screams and whatnot. The racist wants to go back in
- 37:02for his wife. George won't let him.
- 37:04There's an explosion, the mechanic's girlfriend says, Have
- 37:07you all lost your fucking mind? And then boom.
- 37:10She gets. Killed, and then we go.
- 37:18So that's the opening right there, so.
- 37:22Man, I never connected that this is the first one that the
- 37:25opening, that the first catastrophe is the cold open.
- 37:30I know, right? Isn't it weird?
- 37:31Yeah, I guess it explains why we get 2 of them in this movie,
- 37:33too. OK, so now we're at Death by
- 37:35Caffeine, which is the coffee shop that they keep coming back
- 37:38to in this movie. On the table, Nick notices it's
- 37:41coming. It's scratched on the table
- 37:43there. Another thing that I wrote or I
- 37:46read was that I think in most of the premonitions that shows up
- 37:49also. It's coming is somewhere on all
- 37:52the premonitions. Yeah. 52 people died at the
- 37:56racetrack. And they're, they're all
- 37:58handling this different. Nick is not sure what just
- 38:03happened to him. Laurie's concerned about Nick.
- 38:07Janet is just completely freaked out and she's saying, oh wow,
- 38:10that she's freaked out and Hunt. On face, he, he just.
- 38:15I think he's more freaked out than he's letting on, but he's
- 38:17acting unfazed. Do you think so?
- 38:19Yeah. We never once see any like
- 38:20moment like cracks in him the entire time.
- 38:23The entire time he is pretty much I.
- 38:25Think it's an in denial kind of thing.
- 38:27He he thinks his lucky coin saved his life and he's just
- 38:30flipping it around the entire time.
- 38:32That's what I mean. Like, he's a little bit
- 38:33aggressive about it and I think that's why he's like in denial
- 38:37more than just actually unfazed. You may be giving this movie
- 38:40some more credit than it truly deserves.
- 38:44Well, Nick and Lori decide that they're gonna go to the
- 38:46memorial. And while they're at the
- 38:47memorial, the MILF thanks Nick for saving their family.
- 38:52She gives them a rose. Be my bachelor.
- 38:55Yeah, George also stops and talks to him and says, hey, you
- 39:00saved a lot of people. And then Carter comes over and
- 39:02he's just mad at everybody and it's the actual.
- 39:05Worst he he's being incredibly racist to George, blames George
- 39:09for his wife dying, which is stupid because he, like his
- 39:12wife, tried to follow him out there and he's like no, stay
- 39:14here. So I mean, really, Carter, it's
- 39:17your fault that she died in there.
- 39:19That night, Nick has a dream of a door, a horseshoe and a hook.
- 39:24It's very weird. Car door, hook, hand, that's
- 39:29that's what this premonition is. So we see Carter is drunk
- 39:34watching George. How did he know where George
- 39:36lives? How does he think he's being
- 39:38sneaky sitting outside of George's house with his tow
- 39:40truck going? He's blasting music too, like
- 39:44he's I can't, I don't remember what band it is, but it's oh,
- 39:48it's what the body set before, that's what it.
- 39:50Is. No, it's not.
- 39:51It absolutely is not it. First of all, it doesn't sound
- 39:56like that song at all. Second of all, our my closed
- 39:58captions listed the song and band and it was not let the
- 40:01bodies hold on. It was not drowning fool Travis.
- 40:03Travis detective work activate right now.
- 40:06Let's do this shit. Go to soundtrack.
- 40:09Never mind, that was wrong. Wait, what's the song called
- 40:11again? Burning bridges.
- 40:12Burning bridges. OK, whatever.
- 40:14I don't know my fucking metal music people.
- 40:15OK, that's not my genre. It I don't even know that
- 40:18particular song. I just also know I do know what
- 40:22the bodies hit the floor and that's not even the name of the
- 40:24song. The song is just called Bodies.
- 40:26Well, excuse me, I don't know this shit, Jesse.
- 40:29Yeah, but you didn't take my word for it.
- 40:31No. Whatever.
- 40:35Anyway, he's got a big fucking cross.
- 40:37He's going. To do some racist shit, a hate
- 40:39crime. Yeah, he's going to blank light
- 40:40it on fire on his lawn and and. Meanwhile, George is inside
- 40:44reading his a a Bible. Yeah, and he's talking to his
- 40:47mom on the phone. George is a nice fucking guy.
- 40:50You up so like George cares about his mom?
- 40:53George is like Ma, I did it, I met some people, I got some
- 40:56friends. I might have a new friend, I'll
- 40:58let you know. It's like, yeah, me and my best
- 41:01friend Nick, we're gonna go hang out later today.
- 41:03I'm gonna go wait at the race track.
- 41:05He's gonna be there. I promise.
- 41:07I laid the plan. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:11So what happens is the Carter? 'S Carter's drunk so as he's
- 41:16pulling stuff out of his trunk he hits the like the tow gear
- 41:21shift thingy way. The chain falls.
- 41:22Yeah. And then inside the truck,
- 41:25because he was also like his horseshoe.
- 41:28Yeah, his horseshoe that's hanging from the rearview mirror
- 41:30that falls and hits the gear shift in the front part of the
- 41:33truck. Yeah, so the truck is rolling
- 41:35now. He panics.
- 41:36He goes to try and stop but instead he gets tangled up and
- 41:40the chain. The The hook, Yeah.
- 41:42Car door hook hand car door hook man.
- 41:46Something spilled in the back too.
- 41:48It was probably the gasoline that he was going to use to
- 41:50light the crossfire as part of his hate crime.
- 41:52That's what it is. And he catches on fire himself.
- 41:55And Death, being a sneaky little Rascal, plays wars.
- 41:59Why can't we be friends? Isn't it nice that death is also
- 42:02like anti racism? This was like, hey man.
- 42:05Like I kill people but. That shit still, that's too far.
- 42:08That's slow. Yeah, that's nice.
- 42:10I've tortured. You're teenagers, but Jesus
- 42:13Christ. And yeah, like George just sees
- 42:16like this man being dragged down his Rd. went on fire with the
- 42:20truck. But he's got to have a weird
- 42:22combination of feelings because he knows that man.
- 42:25That man had threatened him. That man accused him of being
- 42:28the reason his wife is dead. There is a cross on his lawn and
- 42:32with a racist man there, I'm sure George knows what was going
- 42:36to happen. I can't imagine what is what his
- 42:39emotional state has to be in this movie.
- 42:41Yeah, well, he's, he's happy. He's got friends.
- 42:43OK, that's really it. He's but.
- 42:44He doesn't. They haven't solidified the
- 42:46friendship yet. In his mind, he's already sold
- 42:48it. The deal is done.
- 42:50So the next morning, yes, Lori is watching cartoons, adult
- 42:55cartoons, cuz they say ass. And Janet calls and says, hey,
- 43:00turn on the news. And this is where they're
- 43:01talking about Carter being dragged down the street on fire
- 43:07the night before. And it goes, Oh my God, that
- 43:11door, George's door was in my dream.
- 43:14And then he has another vision of scissors, cigarette and hair
- 43:20straightener. And ceiling.
- 43:22I'm a ceiling fan and he's like, I think that these, I think I'm
- 43:26seeing what's going to happen. I don't think they're dreams.
- 43:28They kind of have their moment. They look at each other.
- 43:30But we don't have time for that because we got to talk to the
- 43:32MILF. Who is MILF?
- 43:35Definitely service industries worst nightmare.
- 43:39Yeah, well, she's dealing with Francesca here from Better Call
- 43:43Saul. I wish that she had just told
- 43:46her now. Yeah, it's one of the situations
- 43:49where you're like, you want to, this person comes in 2 minutes
- 43:52till closing and I'm like, hey, I need this really big
- 43:55appointment and everybody fucking hates it.
- 43:58But you can't say no sometimes because technically we're still
- 44:00open. This is when we were scheduling
- 44:02the movie we were going to see this weekend with Monster Lodge.
- 44:06I get a text from Kendra and she says do you have a hair
- 44:09appointment? I feel like you normally have a
- 44:11hair appointment during these weekends and I need to know
- 44:13which showing to book tickets for.
- 44:14And I was like, surprisingly no. To her right?
- 44:18That you usually do. I'd usually do and I usually
- 44:21plan for more than an hour of being there.
- 44:24So when they arrive out there, the kids are like, hey, let's
- 44:28throw rocks at the sign. So they're just over there
- 44:30picking up rocks and throwing them over there.
- 44:32There's a guy on the wall next to where the sign is and he's
- 44:35getting ready to mow the grass. Her name is Samantha.
- 44:38Yeah, they give they give her a name.
- 44:40They also had like Carter, who accredited as racist.
- 44:44So they just didn't bother with the names for some of these
- 44:46people, even though they had names.
- 44:49So she is late for her. She gives the boys money to go
- 44:53to arcade for an hour and then she goes in and she says she's
- 44:56late for 5:00 PM with Richard because soccer ran late.
- 44:59And she says oh hey, Richard didn't come in today, somebody
- 45:02should have called you. Somebody got dragged down his
- 45:04St. and burned last night. So he lives near George.
- 45:08She is looking for an excuse to get off work.
- 45:10That's not like nobody's like that Her about a race is getting
- 45:13dragged down the street like. Well, if the if the street is
- 45:16still closed down for like a police investigation maybe.
- 45:19Fair enough. But yeah, she they're like, it's
- 45:245:50 and we close at six and she's like, please let's girls
- 45:28night out. I haven't done this in months.
- 45:30I really need it. And she goes, you're killing me.
- 45:34I love the stylist is just I think this is she might have
- 45:39some of the best acting in this movie because she is so clearly
- 45:42fucking over Samantha the whole time.
- 45:44And the chair keeps praying and she goes.
- 45:46I've only told them to fix it like 1000 times.
- 45:49I think she did it intentionally the first time because I think
- 45:52it shows her like press the little lever down and she just
- 45:56sinks down really fast. And then later when it happens
- 46:00again, she's visibly shaking up. She's Oh my God I'm so sorry she
- 46:03broke it. I actually get scared.
- 46:04She broke it when she did that because whenever she raises her
- 46:06back up, the thing just lowers down again and starts.
- 46:09To I do think the chair is actually broken.
- 46:11I don't think she broke it. I think it's actually broken.
- 46:14OK, maybe. I think she's being passed
- 46:15progressive here. I mean she she can be passive
- 46:18aggressive and the chair also be broken.
- 46:20They're not mutually exclusive. Whatever.
- 46:23Anyway, she wants some water, so she's drinking some water and
- 46:26she sets it down. There's no coaster so it starts
- 46:28sliding along on condensation and it knocks a bottle of
- 46:34Hairspray also into a straightener that is turned on
- 46:37and sitting there. Dude.
- 46:38This thing is just, it's just going on its own.
- 46:41There's not even a slope. It's just like, hey, I'm going
- 46:43to move laterally. Have you ever seen that?
- 46:47It's never been anything I've witnessed.
- 46:49Oh, no, I've seen that plenty of times.
- 46:50If you've got something creating enough condensation on a flat
- 46:53space, like it will slide along on its own, it doesn't need to
- 46:55be on it. Yeah, we use coasters in our
- 46:58house, beer mats, if you will. Yeah, OK.
- 47:01And yeah, the the condensation, it's real.
- 47:05Well, it scoots its way over into the hair straightener and
- 47:08it gets caught in there, so it's being burned on the sides.
- 47:12And we, we know something's about to happen.
- 47:14This is when the chair falls down again.
- 47:16And the stylist is like, oh, shit, OK, whoo.
- 47:19We're just, she just leaves her close to the ground and she just
- 47:21crouches for the rest of the visit.
- 47:23The boys run in. They spill their slushies all
- 47:26over the floor and create a mess, and then in that moment
- 47:30the Hairspray shoots up, hits the ceiling fan which has been
- 47:35coming loose this entire time. Ceiling fan crashes.
- 47:37There's a disaster in there. She still gets her fucking hair
- 47:40blow dried. Why was the ceiling fan even
- 47:44part of the premonition if it really had nothing to do with
- 47:46the events that happened? That was a sneaky little Rascal.
- 47:50I guess someone to give? Him like this happened like.
- 47:52False things. OK, fair enough.
- 47:53And so she leaves, and she was like, I've got my eye on you
- 47:59too. And when she turns to walk
- 48:01outside, the lawnmower shoots a rock that goes.
- 48:04And brains are. Yep, the rock that the kids
- 48:06threw over there. So they killed their mom.
- 48:10And dark, but sure. So Laurie and Nick have Janet
- 48:16and Hunt come over to discuss the visions, and they also talk
- 48:20about other documented instances of premonitions and saving
- 48:24people's lives and how their theories about like, breaking
- 48:27the chain of event, breaking the chain of deaths that were going
- 48:30to happen in those accidents. One thing that I wish would have
- 48:33happened throughout these movies, I wish people would
- 48:35actually learn from past movies. Really, they just like, this is
- 48:39a thing that has happened before, but there's never but
- 48:40then like, but then they did this and that didn't work, so
- 48:44now we know that doesn't work, so we got to try something new.
- 48:46It's always like we're trying the same shit over and over
- 48:48again. Yeah, I wish that they went for
- 48:50like a different Ave. this time. Yeah, that's.
- 48:54That's just one weakness. Janet panics and leaves, and
- 49:01Hunt also says if he's he's dying, he's trying.
- 49:04Yeah, I'm going to live my life, basically.
- 49:06That's a good philosophy. Like whatever, like it's coming.
- 49:08I'm just going to go have fun. And then Nick sees a torch.
- 49:12So I'm like, oh, a wire cable type of thing.
- 49:15And then some projectile being shot.
- 49:17And he goes, I need to go to the track so I can have an idea of
- 49:20what the order of deaths was. And I need to like kind of see
- 49:23it to trigger the memory. So Nick and Lori break into the
- 49:27Speedway and George is there. George knew this was going to
- 49:32happen. I feel like he is still going
- 49:36and doing security at the Speedway even though the
- 49:38Speedway is closed. And I feel like they've been
- 49:40like, George, you don't need to be here.
- 49:42And he's like, I, I need my work.
- 49:43I need my work in this moment more than anything right now.
- 49:46And I need. Friends, Yeah.
- 49:47He was just hoping that they would come back, and they did.
- 49:50Yeah, and he's like, I should arrest you for trespassing.
- 49:54You're a security officer, George.
- 49:55I can't arrest my friends. Get over here.
- 49:57I'll show you guys the footage. You want to.
- 50:00You want to see something real sick?
- 50:03So they finally see the events app and they're able to piece
- 50:06together the the timeline. Yeah, and he's like, so next is
- 50:12the mechanic, then Hunt and Janet, George, Laurie, Nick.
- 50:18So they need to go try and stop the mechanic's death.
- 50:20And then if they stop the mechanic's death, that'll break
- 50:22the chain and they get there. And I actually really love this
- 50:26approach to him because I think this is probably my favorite
- 50:28approach to a stranger in the entire franchise because he's
- 50:31like, Sir, I hate to be frank, but I think your life's in
- 50:34danger. Yeah, I mean, and he, he buys
- 50:38into it kind of fast too. He's like, like.
- 50:41His name's Andy. Yeah, his name's Andy.
- 50:42And his boss tells him he needs to get outside because he can't
- 50:46have visitors in the garage. You expect him to be aggro but
- 50:48he's actually like reasonable here.
- 50:49He's like, look guys, like I am going through shit and I am
- 50:52changing as a person because of my girlfriend.
- 50:55Yeah, he's like, I'm just trying to put my life back together.
- 50:57And George is like, hey, man, listen, I got it.
- 50:59Your girlfriend died horribly in an accident in front of you.
- 51:02I accidentally killed my family, He.
- 51:05Woke up online he's like, what's a good way to form fast
- 51:07connections? Trauma.
- 51:08Bonds. Trauma bonds.
- 51:09Like, all right, this guy went through some trauma and let me
- 51:11relate. I killed my wife and my kids.
- 51:13So you OK dude? I I like it's that's got to be
- 51:18such a heavy thing to live. With it does.
- 51:20It does. He's doing the work to be
- 51:22better. I don't want to.
- 51:23I don't want to be too harsh on him.
- 51:25I think he's been harsh on himself.
- 51:27That's fair, that's fair. It's just he's coming on hard
- 51:30and fast to a lot of these people.
- 51:32He's sharing some very intimate tells with some people very,
- 51:35very early. That is what friends?
- 51:37Do friends. Share OK, that's true.
- 51:39So the guys like, look like I'm around dangerous shit every
- 51:43single day. Nothing's going to happen here,
- 51:46and as that happens, it death works really fast in this moment
- 51:49here. So that's like, shit they're
- 51:51getting too. And so this van starts to roll
- 51:53back and he always gets hit, but it's on that wire, that cable
- 51:57that Nicks on his vision. He's like, see, I'm fine.
- 51:59And he turns around and there he's like, Nos, Nos, Yeah.
- 52:04Gets knocked loose, flies at him.
- 52:07That's the projectile from the vision hits him and he goes into
- 52:10the chain link fence. Yeah.
- 52:13You know why does the fence? Break.
- 52:17This is a stronger fence than the one at the Speedway.
- 52:19It really is. It's a million times stronger.
- 52:24It's kind of like if you went to the different sections of our
- 52:26fence because Talia is afraid of fences, so we didn't have to put
- 52:31a lot of money. Talia's afraid of any barrier.
- 52:33Yeah. You don't have to try hard with
- 52:35her. We just literally part of our
- 52:38fence is zip tied. To Talia is like the producer's
- 52:41cut of Halloween 6. You can just put like rocks
- 52:43around her and she's like. She's like, this stops me, Yeah.
- 52:47I cannot move. She's like Michael Myers.
- 52:49She's like, I, you've defeated me.
- 52:53They split up to find Hunt and Janet because they're next.
- 52:56They don't know who technically dies first because it was a
- 53:00section of the stadium that fell on both of them at the same
- 53:03time. So Hunt is a Country Club.
- 53:06Janet is coming out of getting her dry cleaning.
- 53:10She gives some change to a homeless man on the sidewalk and
- 53:14she gets into a car. The man has thrown the penny
- 53:17because he didn't want the penny.
- 53:18I. Like to imagine that dog is the
- 53:19reincarnation of Alex. He he was reincarnated as a dog.
- 53:23He would be that type of dog. Absolutely Chihuahua.
- 53:27So the the birds get spooked by the penny.
- 53:30They fly away. One of them shits on Janet's car
- 53:34like it thinks it's your car. Yeah.
- 53:37Shit on her house. Shit on my house.
- 53:40So she's like, I got to go to the car wash.
- 53:42And this is a bold move because she's fighting with her sunroof.
- 53:46She has paid for the car wash and started to drive in before
- 53:51she has gotten her sunroof closed.
- 53:52It's really Jana might not be smart.
- 53:57Not very. So she is going to go into that
- 54:01and let's just let's talk about Jana and then let's talk about
- 54:03Hunt instead of jumping back and forth the way the movie does.
- 54:06OK, So Janet gets into the car wash.
- 54:08She manages to get the sunroof closed.
- 54:10She has not put her antenna down.
- 54:12I don't. Are there vehicles where you can
- 54:14put the antenna down? Yeah, I think so.
- 54:16OK, well she didn't do it. That was one of the warnings
- 54:19that she was supposed to follow when she went into the car wash.
- 54:22So the antenna breaks off and it goes into the control plan
- 54:25panel, causes it to short circuit, and then she's just
- 54:30stuck. It's not.
- 54:32Pulling her along anymore. Yeah, and then the sunroof opens
- 54:36up and it starts filling up and she is trying to get unstuck.
- 54:41And in the midst of all this, the pipe over top of her bursts.
- 54:45And so now it's not just like a little bit of spray is getting
- 54:48in there. Her car is filling up very
- 54:49quickly. Yeah, and she's got the wipers
- 54:52on the side, so she can't get out of the side of her, like
- 54:56through the doors. Yeah, she's surrounded by those,
- 54:58like the big rolling brushes. So she's trying to climb out of
- 55:01the sunroof. And when she knows, she starts
- 55:03to get out of the sunroof and it closes, so her head's just stuck
- 55:07and oh, wouldn't you know it, the car is starting to move
- 55:09again. The machine has started moving
- 55:12again, so she's about to get hit by a big roller brush.
- 55:14I'm wondering if that would actually kill her though.
- 55:16Would it be strong enough to do that?
- 55:18I don't know. Maybe it would break her neck.
- 55:21It might be tough. Probably wouldn't be a good
- 55:23time. No, I wouldn't.
- 55:24Know but it's OK because George and Lori know that she cuz she
- 55:29had Lori had called her and she said hey I'm going into car wash
- 55:31I'll call you back in 5 minutes. And so they go to the New Year's
- 55:34car wash. Fortunately it is the same one
- 55:37Janet is at and George goes in there and just smashes into the
- 55:41car, pushes her out the other way.
- 55:42How the? Fuck did that not whiplash her
- 55:45right there because he rims that shit hard.
- 55:49You know, I, I don't have a good answer for you on that.
- 55:52Maybe the sunroof had her neck braced well enough so they push
- 55:57her back a little bit. Janet gets or Lori gets out,
- 56:00helps her get out of the car just in time for another big
- 56:02pipe to burst and fall and smash in the window.
- 56:06So Janet is safe. Meanwhile, over at the pool,
- 56:10where Nick or not Nick, well, Nick is going over there by now.
- 56:14Yeah, Hunt is over there. He's sex on somebody.
- 56:17He's playing Donkey Punch and you know that.
- 56:20That's over. With is that what they call it
- 56:21these days? Yeah.
- 56:23So he's walking around, he's having a good time, there's this
- 56:26little shit over there with a water gun and he sprays Nick.
- 56:29Or you know what? Hunt.
- 56:31I You know what's really funny? OK, so Nick Zana plays Hunt in
- 56:36this movie. Yeah.
- 56:38Who is friends with a character named Nick, played by Bobby
- 56:41Campo. But in the Nick Zana movie
- 56:43that's not about butt guts, he plays a character named Bobby.
- 56:47Oh my God. Wow, so it was about butt guts?
- 56:51In a way. Truly was.
- 56:52In a way. They made that connection.
- 56:54The real butt guts were the friends we made along the way.
- 56:59So I think that in a public pool, water gun shouldn't be
- 57:05allowed, water balloon shouldn't be loud, any kind of child
- 57:10projectile. Any kind of child should not be
- 57:12allowed. Children should not be allowed.
- 57:16Yeah, yeah. Because yeah, like don't squirt
- 57:20people you as a child. My mom would have raised hell
- 57:25towards me if I had sprayed an adult with a water gun.
- 57:28But I didn't know she would be like no, what the fuck is wrong
- 57:30with you? Probably not in so many words,
- 57:33but this like you have more sense than that.
- 57:36This kid fucked up his phone too, so he has a right to be.
- 57:39Upset about it, which means that he's not getting the calls from
- 57:42Nick. So he takes his toothpick, pops
- 57:45the kids raft and steals his. Water go away.
- 57:48Yeah, Super Soaker, that thing cost like 3499 you.
- 57:51Know what? This kid had it coming.
- 57:53OK, this kid had it coming. He then takes the Super Soaker.
- 57:56Tosses. It over the fence and by doing
- 57:59that he hits a lever to drain the pool.
- 58:02Do you think that in a pool that size, in a Country Club like
- 58:06this, that it would be as simple as a pool of a lever to drain a
- 58:10pool? I feel like there are probably a
- 58:12few steps. They have a fence jetting.
- 58:14They have a fence. OK, It is.
- 58:16It's as secure as you can get out of pool.
- 58:19All right, So anyways, that has started.
- 58:22The pool is starting to drain and the little cover the the
- 58:26vent, I don't know what you call it, it it breaks down there.
- 58:30So like, yeah, there's nothing like, it's just like a hole at
- 58:33the bottom of the pool sucking water out.
- 58:35Yeah, and Hunt has his lucky coin and he's tossing it around.
- 58:39It falls to the ground, rolls into the pool.
- 58:42He wants to go get it 'cause it's his lucky coin.
- 58:44So he dives in, he finds it, he's looking around the floor of
- 58:47the pool, and then he gets sucked towards the drain and
- 58:51creates a seal with his butt against the drain.
- 58:57And we see his like stomach having in and Nick gets there
- 59:04just in time for there to be a rain of water and blood and
- 59:09colon coming from the pump behind the fence.
- 59:13Just makes me so nervous. And I think of that episode of
- 59:17It's always Sony where Mac keeps trying to go to the bottom of
- 59:19the pool to put his butt up against the thing right here.
- 59:22And I'm like, dude, your guts going to get sucked out.
- 59:24Have you not seen Final Destination?
- 59:26I think of the short story Guts by Chuck Palahniuk.
- 59:29Which is where the butt guts came from to begin with.
- 59:31Yeah. So yeah, Yep, Hunt's dead.
- 59:35Hunt's dead and the Country Club pool is closed for the rest of
- 59:40the summer. Probably.
- 59:41Yeah, yeah, I don't think that shit's opening.
- 59:45Back up, George says that he's OK if he's next.
- 59:48Yeah, he's accepted that. He's like, I don't know if we
- 59:51managed to break the chain or not, but like, I'm fine if I'm
- 59:53going to go be with my wife and kid, I'm OK with it.
- 59:56And then this is maybe the saddest part of the movie,
- 59:59because he's sitting there at his table in his dark kitchen,
- 1:00:04all alone, just staring at a glass of.
- 1:00:07His wine or something? He's got some alcohol pours.
- 1:00:10Yeah. And he's just, you know,
- 1:00:11fighting the temptation. And he's looking, he's got his
- 1:00:13chip, his like a a chip. And we don't know how long he's
- 1:00:18been sober, but like, you see him looking between the alcohol
- 1:00:21and his chip and I just, man, I feel so bad.
- 1:00:23For you feel bad for him here. Meanwhile, Nick and the Warrior
- 1:00:27safety proofing their house. Yeah, I like they're just like
- 1:00:30taping the knives into cardboard sleeves.
- 1:00:32Yeah, I know. What a weird, what a weird
- 1:00:37choice to make. And as they're doing this, he
- 1:00:39spills some coffee onto a newspaper.
- 1:00:41And it kind of like makes the newspaper mostly wet.
- 1:00:44But there are a few words that are dry.
- 1:00:46And it says through action they were saved.
- 1:00:48And they're like, what do you go tell George?
- 1:00:51And they find George in his house and he is hanging in his
- 1:00:55bedroom. But then the the bean breaks and
- 1:01:00he's like I've been trying all day to do this.
- 1:01:04He took pills, he threw them up. He he tried to hang himself.
- 1:01:08Could not do that. There was one other thing I
- 1:01:10think he tried. To He went to the garage and put
- 1:01:13a hose up to his exhaust pipe and then his car wouldn't start.
- 1:01:15It was stalling. Yeah, and they're like, hey, you
- 1:01:19know what? The scenes that were saved.
- 1:01:20And so they're excited and they do a toast with cider.
- 1:01:23First though, it's so weird, like they're thinking and
- 1:01:27they're sitting on his bed thinking he is still wearing the
- 1:01:31noose. It is so weird.
- 1:01:33George, why are you still wearing the noose while you
- 1:01:36guys? He had a rough day.
- 1:01:38And this is all really, they're just sitting there thinking for
- 1:01:42a minute and then suddenly was like, hold on a second, we saved
- 1:01:45Janet, so that means we must have broken the thing.
- 1:01:49It doesn't make any sense. So if Death's plan was broken,
- 1:01:52George could have killed himself because that would have just
- 1:01:56been like, he was going on his own way at that point.
- 1:01:58He wasn't following any plan. Death wants the exact amount of
- 1:02:02people it was supposed to have, no more, no less.
- 1:02:05I know, yeah. But like, it's just so stupid
- 1:02:07that they think like, OK, so like, we won.
- 1:02:09So we're now invincible. We can't die.
- 1:02:12Ever. Yeah, this.
- 1:02:14It feels like that's kind of what they think here now.
- 1:02:16So Nick and Lori decide that they're going to travel and Nick
- 1:02:21is packing for Amsterdam and Lori goes to get the travelers
- 1:02:23checks and then her and Janet are going to go shopping and to
- 1:02:26see a movie. Nick has a vision of a hospital.
- 1:02:30He's got various things like, you know, the snake that's on
- 1:02:34the like the EMT sign. And so he's like what?
- 1:02:38And then the TV comes on and it shows a report.
- 1:02:41The cowboy that was sitting in front of them, he never moved
- 1:02:44because of how things change. At the lorry, yeah.
- 1:02:47And he was actually pulled out of the rubble.
- 1:02:49He survived. He survived.
- 1:02:51He's in a coma. And so Nick calls George and
- 1:02:54he's like, we've got to get to the hospital until they get
- 1:02:56there and there is a racist old man in a lift by a tub.
- 1:03:01Yeah, what? What's with all the racism in
- 1:03:03this movie? It's just so it's a little
- 1:03:05excessive. It's realistic, but I don't want
- 1:03:09that level of realism in my escapism.
- 1:03:11Yeah, come on, man. So this guy, the orderly, he is
- 1:03:15called away while he's filling up the pool for this old man.
- 1:03:19Listen, whenever OIG comes and does their investigation into
- 1:03:23this incident, they're going to be like, why was this man left
- 1:03:26in a lift alone? Why was the tub left on?
- 1:03:28Like there's going to be a bunch of questions that they're not
- 1:03:31going to have a good answer. He took it way too literally.
- 1:03:33Because the woman comes in, it's like, you're needed this second,
- 1:03:36like. Not even any time for him to go
- 1:03:38turn off the tub. And that tub was like this close
- 1:03:41most to full. Yeah, it's gonna be too big for
- 1:03:43him anyway. It was gonna overflow.
- 1:03:46It's on him there's. So many protocols were not
- 1:03:48followed. Yeah, so anyways, that's
- 1:03:51happening. This room, by the way, where all
- 1:03:52this is happening is right above where the cowboy is.
- 1:03:55Can you imagine coming out of a coma and you're in a hospital
- 1:03:57and you're like, wow, I survived, this is great.
- 1:04:01And then the ceiling starts stripping on you and you're
- 1:04:03like. Oh no.
- 1:04:05I maybe the cowboy had his own vision happen, but because Nick
- 1:04:10acted first, he didn't have time to react.
- 1:04:12And that's why he got pinned down in the rubble.
- 1:04:14And he's like, OK, cool, now I can save my own life.
- 1:04:17I'm having a new vision. I also saw the EMT signs.
- 1:04:20Let's get out of the bed. And then he starts crawling and
- 1:04:22you're like, cool, He's away from where the tub is.
- 1:04:24And at this same time, Nick and George Bernstein are like, cool,
- 1:04:27we're going to save the cowboy. Except he is.
- 1:04:29It's called to where the tub is. Yeah.
- 1:04:32And it falls on top of them. Yeehaw, it's crushed.
- 1:04:37That old man looks so sad. He's.
- 1:04:40Like Dana and Lori, this is also a piece of realism in this movie
- 1:04:44that I didn't need because why is every man that works at the
- 1:04:49RC booth in the mall a creep? Yeah, it is true.
- 1:04:53Like it is. It's such an accurate
- 1:04:55stereotype. It really is.
- 1:04:56There's always these people there and.
- 1:04:58They always think it's funny to like, run their gadgets into
- 1:05:01women who are just trying to live their fucking life.
- 1:05:04Another fun thing that I'd noticed a while back is the car
- 1:05:06that Rams into is the car that wrecked in the opening.
- 1:05:11Oh, that. Is a nice.
- 1:05:12That's a nice. Catch.
- 1:05:13Yeah, it is interesting. Good job.
- 1:05:15So yeah, they're going to the movies.
- 1:05:17They get 2 tickets. She pays dime.
- 1:05:21She pays $20 and gets $8 in change.
- 1:05:25Can you imagine getting 2 tickets for $12.00?
- 1:05:30No, I know that's crazy. That's almost 20 years ago, by
- 1:05:35the way, getting close. Why do you why?
- 1:05:38Why do you have to say things like?
- 1:05:39That haven't you just got to say this?
- 1:05:42Yeah. That's that's that was the
- 1:05:43times. OK, so they're there 17 years.
- 1:05:47It's a movie in 3D. Yeah.
- 1:05:49And Laurie starts seeing all of the same signs that were
- 1:05:52happening at the theater. Same dialogue in the.
- 1:05:55Down in front, asshole. Somebody has Dixie as their cell
- 1:06:01phone ringtone, which is a strong choice.
- 1:06:05And she start looking around. She's like Janet.
- 1:06:07What if like we didn't actually stop anything and Janet's like
- 1:06:10please stop talking over the fucking movie.
- 1:06:12This is so rude. Yeah, they they have like a
- 1:06:15straight up conversation. She's not even trying to
- 1:06:18whisper. And Nick and George are like,
- 1:06:22we've got to get out of here. So they're getting ready to go
- 1:06:24to the mall. George just hit by an ambulance.
- 1:06:29He's gone. He's like in the middle of the
- 1:06:30story. Yeah, that I like that because
- 1:06:33it's just so sudden. It reminds me of the bus from
- 1:06:35the first. One yeah.
- 1:06:37And so Nick has a vision of fire and like nails and he was like,
- 1:06:43oh God, I've got to go save him. So he gets.
- 1:06:44To the mall, he sees the explosion from the movie, which
- 1:06:47also causes a real explosion in the theater.
- 1:06:49Well, it doesn't cause the explosion, it's just timed
- 1:06:51really well. What?
- 1:06:52You know what I mean? I'm just being clear, OK,
- 1:06:56Rivers. Which I think is this is where
- 1:07:00he sees that it's around this time where he.
- 1:07:01Sees. No, it was before he went to go
- 1:07:03get hunt, but he saw the clear rivers.
- 1:07:04OK, that was a while back. Nevermind.
- 1:07:06So he gets to the mall. We are also seeing that the
- 1:07:10Multiplex has 6 new screens coming soon, so there's
- 1:07:12construction going on. We see one of the construction
- 1:07:15workers has left his glasses sitting on a beam.
- 1:07:17Sun is coming through, hitting the sunglasses, directing that
- 1:07:20beam towards a pile of sawdust, which starts a fire.
- 1:07:25And as the fire is going, there is a tarp in this construction
- 1:07:31area. A fan knocks it loose, and it
- 1:07:33causes some chemicals to get knocked over.
- 1:07:35And we see in the theater where Jana and Lori are, there's like
- 1:07:39a countdown of a timer for a bomb, and Janet and Lori are
- 1:07:45fighting. And then there's an explosion
- 1:07:47behind the screen at the same time as the explosion on the
- 1:07:49screen. And it's a huge fire.
- 1:07:51And Nick has just gotten there in time to get Lori out.
- 1:07:53Janet didn't want to go, She said.
- 1:07:55I meant to be right here. She's the one in this movie that
- 1:07:58has that speech from all of the other movies like Death Doesn't
- 1:08:00Come. She's like, yeah, she.
- 1:08:01Was meant to be here. Meant.
- 1:08:02To be right here watching this movie, right?
- 1:08:05No. She wasn't wrong though.
- 1:08:07She was the only one that's not wrong.
- 1:08:08She's like, I was meant to be here.
- 1:08:09I'm meant to be. That's where fate had her.
- 1:08:12So Nick and Lori are trying to leave the mall.
- 1:08:15The escalator breaks down her new shoes with the shoe laces.
- 1:08:20They're caught in the escalator. Nick is.
- 1:08:22Trying like your sneaks. Your snakes, he's trying to pull
- 1:08:26her up. Her leg gets caught in the
- 1:08:28machinery. And as we all know, when your
- 1:08:31leg gets crushed, you start coughing up blood.
- 1:08:34Yeah, that's how that works. Questionable that it Honestly it
- 1:08:37could have worked if the scene was edited a little bit better.
- 1:08:40If she got dragged in a little. Bit more, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:44And then? This is Death does George dirty
- 1:08:49here because like, like Nick snaps out of it right as he gets
- 1:08:53whacked. Yep.
- 1:08:54Like there's no chance to save them at all.
- 1:08:56Yep. So he runs to the theater and
- 1:08:57he's going to stop the explosion.
- 1:08:59He doesn't know which theater they're in, because apparently
- 1:09:02Lovely's Dying was a very important it's in like.
- 1:09:05A different yeah. Screens, yeah.
- 1:09:07So he's like, all right, I got to figure out what this
- 1:09:09construction is going on. So he goes in to the
- 1:09:11construction area and the smoke alarm is not connected to
- 1:09:16anything, which is probably a huge fucking violation.
- 1:09:19Yeah, the fire has already started, so he finds a fire
- 1:09:22extinguisher and is able to get most of the flames.
- 1:09:25The fire alarm does not work. Yeah, but the problem is that it
- 1:09:28runs out before he can get all of the flames.
- 1:09:30So they continue moving on and they catch on to other things.
- 1:09:33And he's trying to find something that he can put the
- 1:09:35fire out with. And then a nail gun is on a
- 1:09:38table that gets a leg knocked out from underneath it.
- 1:09:41And then and he's nailed to the wall.
- 1:09:44He's pinned. And he's like, he sees a big VAT
- 1:09:48of chemicals, and he's like, well, that's going to cause the
- 1:09:50explosion. What do I need to do?
- 1:09:52He grabs a board that's conveniently near him, gets the
- 1:09:55edge of it caught on fire. He holds it up to a sprinkler.
- 1:09:59He's like, come on, come on, come on.
- 1:10:00And the flames are just approaching the chemicals.
- 1:10:03Is he going to make it? Would Sprinkler put up the
- 1:10:08flames that quickly? No, I don't think so either.
- 1:10:11Like it was like, it was like not even an inch away from being
- 1:10:15igniting, like whatever it was that was over there.
- 1:10:17Yeah, no, it it wouldn't have worked quite so effectively, but
- 1:10:20it's fine for two weeks. Whatever, it's a movie.
- 1:10:22Yeah, yeah. Two weeks later, he is a
- 1:10:24nightmare to everybody he meets on the street because he sees
- 1:10:27somebody working on a scaffold and he's like, hey buddy, this
- 1:10:30supposed to be like this? It's like, oh, no, you got, I
- 1:10:34mean, like, he pays to be safe, bro.
- 1:10:35And he like points out his cast like, OK, cool.
- 1:10:37Yeah, you had it in, you had an incident.
- 1:10:39Now you're going to be like this, everybody.
- 1:10:41You're a fun guy. And what's funny because every
- 1:10:44time I see this at first, I'm like, imagine like being at your
- 1:10:48job and some idiot with a broken arm tells you it fails to be
- 1:10:51safe. And you're just like, I don't
- 1:10:52know your life, man. I don't know.
- 1:10:54Did you fall off a scaffolding? Is this your business?
- 1:10:56Like are you the? Person that should be telling me
- 1:10:58this, it doesn't seem like you've been safe.
- 1:11:00Except then he goes to the cafe and the same man with the
- 1:11:04reincarnation of Alex Browning says, hey, man, you say you
- 1:11:07saved that the a lot of people at the mall from that fire.
- 1:11:11Which means that people around town do know who Nick is and
- 1:11:15they do know what he's done. Which means the person on the
- 1:11:17scaffolding probably has had this conversation with him a few
- 1:11:23times by now, probably. Obviously he's like, man, you
- 1:11:26save one little Multiplex. I like major explosion and now
- 1:11:31you feel like you can tell me how to do my job as.
- 1:11:34Much as it doesn't make sense, I like to imagine that the
- 1:11:36homeless man is reincarnation of Todd TO single D.
- 1:11:40Also, Todd and Alex are together again I love.
- 1:11:43That yeah, he he reincarnated. As.
- 1:11:46An old man. This man entered the universe as
- 1:11:49an old man with a dog. Yeah.
- 1:11:52That's how it happened, people. It makes sense.
- 1:11:54I don't make the rules. So Nick is meeting Laurie and
- 1:11:57Janet at a cafe. He gets a an incredibly sugary
- 1:12:03drink and they make fun of him and he says it tastes
- 1:12:06disgusting. I'm sure it's overly sweet, but
- 1:12:09I don't know if disgusting is the right word.
- 1:12:11It reminds me, it made me think of that drink that I got from 7
- 1:12:14brew that I could not drink because it made me sick.
- 1:12:16Yeah, it feels a little shiny, like, EW, this much sugar grows.
- 1:12:21Yes, well, they sit down at the same table that they met at
- 1:12:24after the event the first time, except this time.
- 1:12:27It's coming as crushed out. Yeah, and there's something else
- 1:12:29there. I think it says it's here.
- 1:12:32And then it goes, What if we were meant to be here all along?
- 1:12:39And then the scaffolding falls. I hate to give Nick credit on
- 1:12:44this, but he was correct. It falls, which means that the
- 1:12:47truck that's coming down the street has to swerve to avoid
- 1:12:50hitting the scaffolding and causing an accident there, and
- 1:12:53instead it hits death by caffeine.
- 1:12:57Yep, and we see in 3D through their skeletons, all of the
- 1:13:01damage that's being done, and they're dead.
- 1:13:04And that's how the movie ends. I'm still gonna give it an 8.75.
- 1:13:09I still really enjoy this one. I enjoy it too.
- 1:13:11I'll bump it to 7. It's a fun movie.
- 1:13:15Like I like the movie, I enjoy it, It just is you know?
- 1:13:19It has enough shortcomings to be the weakest one for me
- 1:13:22personally. OK, well.
- 1:13:25So what would I change, Jesse? That's a great question.
- 1:13:27I was trying to get an average real quick. 7.875 yes.
- 1:13:32What would you change Travis? Well.
- 1:13:35I would like to see these people kind of learn from the past
- 1:13:39instances, you know? It would be nice to see some new
- 1:13:43strategies tried throughout, you know, like I, I just think
- 1:13:47there's enough out there and clearly people are able to
- 1:13:50research this and get enough because I mean, everybody's able
- 1:13:53to do in every single movie. So that'd be nice.
- 1:13:57And I also would have liked to have just have the characters be
- 1:14:00a little bit more together and get a more, get more of a sense
- 1:14:03of them as people before this shit happened.
- 1:14:06Because it just happened so fast in this movie and we just don't
- 1:14:10get good character development this time around, I don't think.
- 1:14:14OK, Talia. Talia, she started off kind of
- 1:14:18sleepy, but she was pretty playful.
- 1:14:19Near the end of the movie, she was actually having a really
- 1:14:21good time with it. I think the 3D is really
- 1:14:23effective for her. She's like, well.
- 1:14:25It came right at us, guys. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:28She loves the concept of racing because this car's going fast.
- 1:14:31That's super cool for. Her, my guy, I thought you were
- 1:14:33about to say a different word. No, she hates racists.
- 1:14:37So that guy gone, Yeah, that's also awesome.
- 1:14:40And she loves going to a coffee shop and getting a pub cup.
- 1:14:45That's true. There's a lot of things Italia
- 1:14:47loves. Yeah, this is you know what, I
- 1:14:49think this might be a nine out of 10 for Italia I.
- 1:14:51Agree. Who's those?
- 1:14:53Ultimate warrior? Even more important question.
- 1:15:00I think it was the cowboy because Zoe here lately has been
- 1:15:06this little cat that's been on a mission to sit in as many laps
- 1:15:09as possible. And we have to tell her, Zoe,
- 1:15:11you can't sit here right now. And that's what happened to the
- 1:15:13cowboy. It's like you can't sit here
- 1:15:15right now. That is, she's like, you know,
- 1:15:17what happened, guys? He was able to sit there and he
- 1:15:19lived. So you think that she she's the
- 1:15:24cowboy because she wants to prove like.
- 1:15:26Her choice, like, yeah, where is she?
- 1:15:28Like wherever she sits is like where she's meant to be, or else
- 1:15:31she'll die. OK, I'll accept that.
- 1:15:34Yeah, was it a hoot or a holler for Cordelia?
- 1:15:40Cordelia was also fighting to get a seat.
- 1:15:43She was, I think she was very immersed in the movie because of
- 1:15:46that. I think it's a hoot then, yeah.
- 1:15:48OK, OK. All right, who did you relate
- 1:15:52to? Who did I relate to?
- 1:15:53Jesus. I guess I probably relate to the
- 1:15:57MILF because Hunt shames her for having that many tampons in her
- 1:16:01verse. I don't think 4 tampons is crazy
- 1:16:02to have if you bleed a lot and you got to be prepared for
- 1:16:05anything. Again, it's a dude commenting on
- 1:16:08that, you know he doesn't know what's going.
- 1:16:09On Yeah, 4 is not an outrageous amount to have in your purse.
- 1:16:13It just isn't. OK, I'll relate to the Milfs
- 1:16:18kids because I remember as a kid, like my mom would like give
- 1:16:23me games. So like I would have to like,
- 1:16:25you know, it's a little bit different like I would I was
- 1:16:27used as a tool to like hey Travis, my customer has kids
- 1:16:32over here. I need you to come over here to
- 1:16:34distract them so they have somebody to play with.
- 1:16:37That way I can do this appointment.
- 1:16:39So I was forced to hang out with a lot of people I really didn't
- 1:16:42want to hang out with because of the I I was the arcade.
- 1:16:47I really. You are at the arcade.
- 1:16:51That was me. OK, OK, what would Dom do?
- 1:16:55I'm glad you asked. I've got this.
- 1:16:58Oh, OK. I'm curious to hear.
- 1:16:59OK, so all of this would stop at the garage.
- 1:17:04OK. When they go to stop Andy.
- 1:17:06Yeah. And I know you're asking.
- 1:17:08Well, they're at a race at the very beginning.
- 1:17:10Why wouldn't it stop there? Well, see, you have to remember
- 1:17:13Dom watched his dad die on a Speedway.
- 1:17:16I think that was. And I think that was traumatic
- 1:17:19for him. I think he had a moment, he
- 1:17:21flashed back, he didn't act quick enough.
- 1:17:23So the major accident at the Speedway, not only was it
- 1:17:25retriggering A trauma for him, it also made him mad at himself
- 1:17:29for not reacting quick enough. And he vowed that that wouldn't
- 1:17:31happen again. And he happens to be at the
- 1:17:33garage working with Andy and the rest of the crew later on when
- 1:17:37these people come in and they're trying to explain this to Andy
- 1:17:39and he's like, you know what? No, I got it.
- 1:17:41He makes sure that this accident never happens in the 1st place,
- 1:17:44breaks the chain and he doesn't die.
- 1:17:47Rest of the movie just they just go on and they live happily.
- 1:17:51OK, there we go. You know what?
- 1:17:53That makes a lot of sense right there.
- 1:17:55Dom through intervention, Dom saves the day.
- 1:17:57Yes. As always through Dom all things
- 1:18:00are possible. OK, all right.
- 1:18:04And tagline. That's the way we.
- 1:18:07Do. Tagline.
- 1:18:08Yeah, yeah, we do. We don't do dream sequel.
- 1:18:10Yeah. OK, So what?
- 1:18:12What's tagline? Speed kills.
- 1:18:17Yep. All right, that's it, That's it.
- 1:18:19We're done. OK, cool.
- 1:18:21All right. So I guess it's time to do
- 1:18:24reviews. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:26All right. So as we said before, we have
- 1:18:28been a little bit sidetracked this weekend.
- 1:18:29So I didn't get a chance to do call for reviews, unfortunately.
- 1:18:33So in order to do something, I got 2 reviews.
- 1:18:36I got a positive and a negative, OK.
- 1:18:38And since we are both on the positive end of this, so let's
- 1:18:40start off with the negative, OK? All right, so where are we at?
- 1:18:47OK, 2 out of 10 painfully bad. Reviewed in 2025.
- 1:18:51OK. So this is recent, somebody
- 1:18:53probably prepping for the for bloodlines.
- 1:18:56Yeah, that was June 2nd so I can't remember when Bloodlines
- 1:18:59came out. That sounds about around that
- 1:19:00time. The Final Destination is by far
- 1:19:03the weakest in the entire franchise for me.
- 1:19:04It feels like the series hit a wall with this one.
- 1:19:07The deaths are goofy in a bad way, the CGI looks awful, and
- 1:19:10the characters are the most forgettable bunch we've had so
- 1:19:12far. It tries to use 3D as a gimmick,
- 1:19:15but instead of enhancing anything, it just makes
- 1:19:17everything feel even more cartoonish and cheap.
- 1:19:20The racetrack disaster opening could have been cool, but it
- 1:19:22ends up feeling flat and unconvincing.
- 1:19:26There's not much suspense either, and by the halfway point
- 1:19:28it feels like the movie is just going through the motions.
- 1:19:31It lacks the charm, creativity, and tension that made the
- 1:19:34earlier films work. This one feels like a parody of
- 1:19:37itself and almost tanked the whole franchise.
- 1:19:39I don't think so. Like it did really well.
- 1:19:42Thankfully it bounced back with the next film.
- 1:19:44But yeah, this one easily skippable.
- 1:19:49This is the sentiment that I find most people have with this
- 1:19:52movie. The 3D really does ruin it for a
- 1:19:55lot of people. I do agree that it's the weakest
- 1:20:01batch of characters. Yeah, the characters are the
- 1:20:03flattest for sure. I I would maybe agree it it
- 1:20:08lacks the tension that most of them have to I can understand
- 1:20:12the going through the motions that it's saying.
- 1:20:14However, The thing is, I love the motions of these movies.
- 1:20:17So even if these movies go through the motions, I'm having
- 1:20:20a great time. OK, that's fair.
- 1:20:23Yeah, I, I, I think it's not. I wouldn't say it's completely
- 1:20:27going through the motions. I think they were a little bit
- 1:20:29more caught up on the 3D than they were of the actual story
- 1:20:31they were trying to tell. Yeah, I think it took priority
- 1:20:34with like, how are we going to make this death in 3D instead of
- 1:20:37how are we going to make this a fun death?
- 1:20:38Yes, yeah, yeah. OK, that that makes a lot of
- 1:20:41sense. And that probably does explain a
- 1:20:43lot of it. All right, let's think.
- 1:20:45Let's go over to somebody that had some nice things to say.
- 1:20:48Yay. Also in 2025, May 21st, Brutal
- 1:20:53and unforgiving, Final Destination 4 brings back
- 1:20:56everything fans loved about the series.
- 1:20:58Suspense, unpredictability, and the eerie feeling that fate is
- 1:21:01always watching. This installment keeps the
- 1:21:03formula alive in the best way possible, with a new set of
- 1:21:06characters, a fresh opening disaster, and a series of
- 1:21:08chilling events that'll have you holding your breath.
- 1:21:10The tension builds up beautifully and while the deaths
- 1:21:13are creative and intense, what really makes the movie fun is
- 1:21:16how it plays with the idea of inevitability.
- 1:21:19You know something bad is going to happen, the suspense is just
- 1:21:22in the how and when. The pacing is solid, the visuals
- 1:21:25are sharp, and the movie doesn't waste time getting to the good
- 1:21:27stuff. It may, it may not reinvent the
- 1:21:30formula, but it fully embraces what the franchise is all about.
- 1:21:34Suspenseful thrills, clever setups, and a sense of doom you
- 1:21:37can't shake. If you're into a psychological
- 1:21:39suspense mixed with shocking moments and a clever concept,
- 1:21:41this movie absolutely delivers it's thrillings, smart in its
- 1:21:45execution, and a solid horror ride from beginning to end. 10
- 1:21:48out of 10 I must watch. For fans of the franchise or
- 1:21:50horror in general, this is kind of generally how I feel most of
- 1:21:54the time. Like it is like it does what the
- 1:21:57series does well enough. It's a final destination movie.
- 1:22:02It follows the formula to a T. Yeah, this isn't like a jigsaw
- 1:22:07of a situation where it's trying to reinvent the thing.
- 1:22:09Yeah, it's just like, hey. It's a saw 3D of a thing.
- 1:22:14Yeah, it does the thing, but it's very distracted by the 3D
- 1:22:18elements. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:22:20Like, I mean, that's it. Like it doesn't reinvent
- 1:22:22formula. It's just it embraces it and
- 1:22:24that it's just, it is a Final Destination movie.
- 1:22:27It has fun and that's really all I'm here for.
- 1:22:29Whenever I want to watch your Final Destination movie, I want
- 1:22:31to see death do it's shit. Yeah.
- 1:22:33You know, that's really it. So that's it.
- 1:22:37That's it. That's it for the reviews.
- 1:22:38I think that's it for this episode.
- 1:22:40I think that's it for February all.
- 1:22:42Right, I do have the 1st March movie.
- 1:22:45Oh, you do. Yes, OK, I'm prepared for this.
- 1:22:48I'm going to tell you guys what it is.

- 1:25:38OK, bye. My mic just came after me and
- 1:25:53soon it again. I think you need to fix the base
- 1:25:57of your mic stand. It's not the mic itself that's
- 1:25:59falling. It is.
- 1:26:00No, it's the mic. No, I agree with you.
- 1:26:02That's what I'm saying. Yeah, OK.
- 1:26:05All right. Chantelle Vance.
- 1:26:08Chantelle, there we go. It took me a couple tries there.
- 1:26:12I think you just found a really good outtake for yourself.
- 1:26:15I did this episode.
