- 0:00Speaker 1: Joining us is Peter Murphy. Peter is a senior fellow
- 0:03Speaker 1: at the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow. It's known as
- 0:05Speaker 1: sea Fact. We've had guests from sea FACT over the
- 0:08Speaker 1: years with US to Washington, DC based organization in support
- 0:12Speaker 1: of free market technological solutions to energy and environmental challenges. Peter,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome to the show. How are you, sir?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Good morning, Preston. I'm great, thank you, and.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Good to be on. Yesterday we highlighted Joe Biden's efforts
- 0:27Speaker 1: to leave a lasting mark if you will damaging our country.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Let me first ask you before we get into the
- 0:34Speaker 1: nuts and bolts of that, Peter, who do you think
- 0:37Speaker 1: is really making these decisions? Because Joe Biden just puts
- 0:40Speaker 1: his signature on it, and someone may very well be
- 0:43Speaker 1: moving his hand for all I know. But who do
- 0:45Speaker 1: you think is really authoring these policies? Is this Barack Obama?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Are these baroxick of fans? Who's behind this?
- 0:53Speaker 2: I think the baroxick of fans is an app description
- 0:57Speaker 2: what the Democratic Party has become in the twenty twenties
- 1:02Speaker 2: and progressively unintended throughout the century. The first quarter of
- 1:09Speaker 2: this century is they become a much more hard left
- 1:14Speaker 2: Marxist Party, and Joe Biden made a deal with this
- 1:19Speaker 2: devil to be the moderate face the fay Cave to
- 1:26Speaker 2: be elected, he and of course Missus Biden, to occupy
- 1:32Speaker 2: the White House, to be president, to have all the perks,
- 1:36Speaker 2: and to do whatever this party had become, to implement
- 1:41Speaker 2: whatever it is they have become, and that is a
- 1:43Speaker 2: much more left wing party now. Joe Biden's career, which
- 1:48Speaker 2: of course spans from Nixon's re election in nineteen seventy two,
- 1:51Speaker 2: that's Biden's first election to the Senate, he was always
- 1:55Speaker 2: in the middle of where the party was, whether it
- 1:58Speaker 2: was a uh you know, dominated by by Southern Democrats
- 2:05Speaker 2: who were the chairman still at the time of the
- 2:07Speaker 2: Senate Committees, where it became a kind of more law
- 2:11Speaker 2: and order, more centrist party under Bill Clinton in the nineties,
- 2:15Speaker 2: to now this far left, progressive radical group, that's what
- 2:21Speaker 2: he is. And he has no he has no compass whatsoever,
- 2:26Speaker 2: he has no principles, and so he just went with
- 2:30Speaker 2: it and it got him the presidency because again he
- 2:33Speaker 2: was this moderate face, this exterior charm that prevailed and
- 2:39Speaker 2: made all kinds of promises that they never meant. So
- 2:44Speaker 2: he's been there. He's been there, fakid as they implement
- 2:49Speaker 2: all this stuff right till the time they leave.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Tell me this we got We got about two minutes
- 2:54Speaker 1: before we take a quick break. What does this executive
- 2:58Speaker 1: order do in practicality.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It shuts off unless it's reversed. This executive order involving
- 3:06Speaker 2: the offshore offshore oil exploration. Yeah, it puts a it
- 3:14Speaker 2: makes it untouchable. And you know, we have to grow
- 3:17Speaker 2: our economy. We need affordable energy, period, end of story.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It's what drove the worst inflation in the late seventies,
- 3:27Speaker 2: the cost of energy. It and it's and we have
- 3:32Speaker 2: to tame inflation by lowering the price of energy and
- 3:35Speaker 2: making America more competitive in the global marketplace. So you
- 3:40Speaker 2: have to expand our reach, our resources. And there's this
- 3:45Speaker 2: vast six and twenty five million acres is a third
- 3:49Speaker 2: of the land masks of the United States. You put
- 3:52Speaker 2: that all off limits with this ancient law, and that's
- 3:57Speaker 2: got to be reversed. It can be, but it's not
- 3:59Speaker 2: as simple as it sounds.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to get to that next. Peter Murphy
- 4:03Speaker 1: with me, he's a senior fellow with ce fact we're
- 4:05Speaker 1: talking about Joe Biden. I mean, why not end the
- 4:08Speaker 1: way he came in day one he killed the Keystone
- 4:11Speaker 1: XL pipeline and put us on an IV with everybody
- 4:15Speaker 1: who hates us to find the energy, the sources of
- 4:19Speaker 1: energy that we need and then move this to this ridiculous,
- 4:21Speaker 1: untenable ev nonsense. Back with Peter Murphy. Peter, we were
- 4:25Speaker 1: talking about this executive order. Now, I would immediately come
- 4:31Speaker 1: to the conclusion that, look, this is going to get
- 4:34Speaker 1: reversed on January twenty at the moment Donald Trump takes office.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You mentioned it might not be that easy.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Well, the law is not clear that a president can
- 4:44Speaker 2: reverse it. The law is clear that you can put
- 4:50Speaker 2: imposed conservation or in the name of conservation, you can
- 4:54Speaker 2: impose off limits to development. It's not clear that you
- 4:59Speaker 2: can reverse that in the law. So that has to
- 5:03Speaker 2: be tested in the courts. Donald Trump should not assume
- 5:07Speaker 2: anything other than he can reverse it. I mean, you
- 5:10Speaker 2: know he needs to, and I'm sure he will act
- 5:13Speaker 2: to reverse it. Then there'll be a lawsuit. The Greens
- 5:17Speaker 2: will bring a lawsuit, of course, and the courts will
- 5:19Speaker 2: be tested by this. Now, but this goes to show this,
- 5:24Speaker 2: you know, in the modern era. I mean, I guess
- 5:27Speaker 2: back in the day when this law was put in place,
- 5:30Speaker 2: you don't anticipate presidents abusing it, right, this is an
- 5:34Speaker 2: abuse of this law, and especially when you're the lamest
- 5:39Speaker 2: of lame ducks, you're actually leaving office in ten days,
- 5:42Speaker 2: and so you're going to act this way. I mean,
- 5:43Speaker 2: it's a really disgraceful approach. And that's certainly not what
- 5:48Speaker 2: Congress had intended. Nor has it been acted on this
- 5:52Speaker 2: way for seventy years. It's been in existence, and so
- 5:58Speaker 2: so the courts may recognize that abuse of it. But
- 6:00Speaker 2: this goes to a long standing problem of the Congress
- 6:03Speaker 2: city the United States is they don't make laws specific enough.
- 6:07Speaker 2: They leave too much discretion to the executive branch, and
- 6:11Speaker 2: which is now scores of agencies and unelected bureaucrats who
- 6:16Speaker 2: are interpreting things. Now, the courts rolled some of that back.
- 6:19Speaker 2: The agency's ability to interpret laws or reinterpret them is
- 6:24Speaker 2: the key. The courts did roll that power back somewhat
- 6:27Speaker 2: in this last session, but nonetheless, Congress needs to be
- 6:31Speaker 2: more specific in the laws that they pass. And if
- 6:35Speaker 2: the law, if a new circumstances arise, then you go
- 6:39Speaker 2: back to Congress and you change the law. I mean,
- 6:42Speaker 2: that's how it should be. And this is a result
- 6:45Speaker 2: of just decades of Congress being very vague and leaving
- 6:49Speaker 2: too much discretion to the executive branch, which is now
- 6:53Speaker 2: comprised not so much of the president's people as these
- 6:56Speaker 2: lifelong bureaucrats who have their own agenda.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I was going to ask you, Peter, in closing as
- 7:02Speaker 1: many things as you and I could point to and
- 7:05Speaker 1: absolutely agree on that Joe Biden his administration and I
- 7:09Speaker 1: call it the O Biden administration, have done to damage
- 7:15Speaker 1: hurt this country. Couldn't you argue the real lasting legacy
- 7:20Speaker 1: is what you just defined, This ability to dig in
- 7:25Speaker 1: and find ways to take legislation and twist it.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Well, progressivism as they practice it, and this really began
- 7:35Speaker 2: under Woodrow Wilson, or even to be fair of Teddy Roosevelt. Yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 2: they are not governed by law. They are governed by
- 7:42Speaker 2: their own agenda, which they view is higher than law.
- 7:45Speaker 2: More important, there's a moral superiority to their agenda. And
- 7:49Speaker 2: the laws are for basically for the other side, not
- 7:52Speaker 2: for them, because this is the this is their religion
- 7:56Speaker 2: in effect, and the lasting legacy, you know, they're using
- 7:59Speaker 2: this clawlimate issue, which is so manufactured and fake and unscientific,
- 8:05Speaker 2: to do whatever they want. You have not a few
- 8:07Speaker 2: Democrats in Congress who want a climate emergency quote unquote
- 8:11Speaker 2: climate emergency like a COVID emergency that gives untrammeled power
- 8:16Speaker 2: to the executive ranch. Now they're not going to want
- 8:18Speaker 2: it now, but when Biden was in office, Chuck Schumer,
- 8:21Speaker 2: Jeff murkand of Oregon, many others, we're calling for climate emergency.
- 8:25Speaker 2: This is a dangerous time for because progressimism is not
- 8:31Speaker 2: bound by laws and constitutional principles. They will do what
- 8:34Speaker 2: they want until someone can stop them. That's their mentality,
- 8:37Speaker 2: and it's a dangerous one going forward if they should
- 8:39Speaker 2: get back into power.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Peter, thank you. I appreciate your insight and expertise and
- 8:44Speaker 1: look forward to having you back on the show sometime.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Thank you, sir.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Thank you, Preston, appreciate it.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Peter Murphy with us from c fact. There you go.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I thought it was as easy as putting your signature
- 8:54Speaker 1: to it. Not so much. That's a very important clarification.
- 8:59Speaker 1: But he's so they just weasele in there and say,
- 9:02Speaker 1: oh wait a minute, we can do this. With that law,
- 9:05Speaker 1: we can do that, and he's right. It's due as
- 9:08Speaker 1: we say, not as we do. Absolutely positively, that's the
- 9:11Speaker 1: progressive mantra.
