- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast, taking
- 0:14Speaker 1: our final dip into The Foresights for season one. I Megan,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:22Speaker 1: former Hamewark hater. Hey I have a question for you. Yeah,
- 0:25Speaker 1: I know you just posted on our website, Girls Go
- 0:27Speaker 1: one Hallmark dot Com a sneak preview of season two
- 0:31Speaker 1: of The Foresight. Yeah. I'm so excited. It's actually in
- 0:35Speaker 1: my notes to discuss it. Oh, okay, okay, because one
- 0:38Speaker 1: I haven't read it. Two, I'm just curious, like, do
- 0:41Speaker 1: we know when that season's going to drop? No, it's
- 0:45Speaker 1: estimated to be sometime in twenty twenty seven. Oh thing.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Oh I would have loved it, like later this year.
- 0:51Speaker 1: It would have been great. Yeah. I don't think we're
- 0:53Speaker 1: going to get that. Okay. We are discussing The Foresight
- 0:56Speaker 1: Season one, episode six, the season finale, which originally aired
- 1:01Speaker 1: on PBS on Sunday, April twenty six, and is currently
- 1:05Speaker 1: available to stream on PBS dot Org and the PBS
- 1:07Speaker 1: Passport app. If you want to keep up with us
- 1:10Speaker 1: even though The Foresights is over, follow us over on Instagram,
- 1:13Speaker 1: where we are Girls Gone Hallmark, and you can see
- 1:15Speaker 1: our schedule of all the shows and movies that we
- 1:20Speaker 1: are currently reviewing. We're gonna lean more Hallmark heavy in
- 1:24Speaker 1: the next coming weeks, yes, scaling back to PBS. Unfortunately
- 1:29Speaker 1: even then they make great entertainment. Yeah, we're going to
- 1:33Speaker 1: be a real Hallmark focused operation around here. Although if
- 1:38Speaker 1: you like a little bit of soapiness, check out our
- 1:41Speaker 1: podcast Last to the Party, because we are recapping this
- 1:46Speaker 1: Summer's in the City post summer House scandal. Yeah, hey,
- 1:51Speaker 1: let's hear a synopsis for this episode of the Foresights.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Selm's commissions a country house despite Irene's distress. As Louisa
- 1:59Speaker 1: faces a fresh start, Joe decides his future. Anne reveals
- 2:03Speaker 1: a dark secret, dark question mark, what's the dark secret?
- 2:10Speaker 1: She has a grandson? Oh oh? Anne reveals that, Okay,
- 2:13Speaker 1: what's your first impression of this episode? Look? I like
- 2:16Speaker 1: a little bad boy energy, but this not so much.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So I would like to officially retract to everything I
- 2:22Speaker 1: said about I stand down so scary. My first impression
- 2:33Speaker 1: is call it Mariy Povich because I need to know
- 2:35Speaker 1: who the father is. Okay, can we talk about it? Yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 1: let's do it. And big reveal at the end that
- 2:44Speaker 1: Henry Falconer is her grandson from who well, how oh,
- 2:50Speaker 1: the only two options. It's one of the two dudes.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Alexandra is the mother, but who who was asking? Forget
- 2:56Speaker 1: I forget who Anne was talking to, because if she's
- 2:59Speaker 1: talking to Joe Senior, and she says, Faulkner is my grandson,
- 3:04Speaker 1: then James is the father. Well, got pull it up.
- 3:08Speaker 1: That's James. No, that's Joe, My damn boy. You can
- 3:13Speaker 1: speak of these things some other time, But Mama, who
- 3:16Speaker 1: is he? These my grantson? So you said, if she's
- 3:20Speaker 1: talking to one, we know it's the other. Yeah, but
- 3:23Speaker 1: there's a case to be made that he didn't that
- 3:27Speaker 1: we don't know James's past, like maybe he went away somewhere.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And she says, wait, who's talking to Anne? Joe? Sorry,
- 3:35Speaker 1: we own Joe Senior. So there is a case to
- 3:38Speaker 1: be made. She says, like we brought his mother into
- 3:40Speaker 1: our home. Is there a case to be made that
- 3:42Speaker 1: like the boys were gone away somewhere and she cared
- 3:47Speaker 1: for Alexandra and this baby and she's felt this responsibility
- 3:51Speaker 1: and neither James nor Joe ever knew of the existence
- 3:55Speaker 1: of this child, because James looks shocked. Maybe not a
- 3:58Speaker 1: by a lodge O. I think it's a biological grandson,
- 4:01Speaker 1: because okay, let's think about it for a second. We
- 4:03Speaker 1: have like the whole side story line of the wayward women,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and yes, but they have these children, you know what
- 4:13Speaker 1: I mean. So maybe Ann takes it in Alexandra, who
- 4:17Speaker 1: is pregnant with some child, and then you know, Anne,
- 4:21Speaker 1: like I'm quoting, adopts that baby. Okay, I think you
- 4:26Speaker 1: could make that case. But I also think that with
- 4:28Speaker 1: all the hinting around we've been getting from about James
- 4:31Speaker 1: and Joe and this affair they had and how it
- 4:34Speaker 1: was like a love triangle between them, I think we're
- 4:38Speaker 1: supposed to assume it belongs to one of them. We
- 4:40Speaker 1: could be surprised. Do you dare me to google who
- 4:43Speaker 1: is the father of Henry Falconer? Oh? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 1: yah yeah. Do you want to know? Yeah? I forgot
- 4:47Speaker 1: that this is actual like a book. Oh, Henry Falconer
- 4:51Speaker 1: is not a character from the original books, but a
- 4:53Speaker 1: new figure in the series. H we've taken liberties here,
- 4:58Speaker 1: storytelling the liberties. Okay, they're going to try to make
- 5:02Speaker 1: it real. Soapy then okay, that's okay. To me, it
- 5:05Speaker 1: makes a little more sense for it to be Joe
- 5:08Speaker 1: than James because Joe is widowed and James is married,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and so that opens up an opportunity. I don't know
- 5:14Speaker 1: if Alexandra is still alive. Have they touched on that?
- 5:17Speaker 1: Did she say his mother had died? I don't know.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I don't know, But that was juicy. I liked it.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I thought it was juicy too, and it set up
- 5:27Speaker 1: a good season two. Sure, I think it was a
- 5:30Speaker 1: little disappointed honestly with the finale of Oh but that
- 5:34Speaker 1: was gonna be my my, so interesting. My question to you. Okay,
- 5:38Speaker 1: so overall as a finale, you were not impressed. I
- 5:43Speaker 1: wanted explosive. I mean, I think Anne's reveal is is good,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but I wanted explosive. Okay, wait, let me let me
- 5:53Speaker 1: put something to you. Joe leaves his wife and goes
- 5:56Speaker 1: to live with the mother of his children. Uh huh,
- 5:58Speaker 1: so Elms is really dangerous. Yeah, Irene is stuck. Yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 1: Irene and Philip are going to bounce a go wow wow.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So disappointed, Please tell me your notes say, I'm going
- 6:10Speaker 1: to give you your flowers once again, because two episodes
- 6:12Speaker 1: in a row. I have the words. I knew it. Oh,
- 6:14Speaker 1: I don't remember you talking about that last time. Okay,
- 6:16Speaker 1: we're trying to get all to it. Yes, I guess
- 6:18Speaker 1: there was a lot of stuff that happened in this episode,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but I thought I saw a spoiler from the original
- 6:25Speaker 1: story and you were waiting for Francis and Joe Senior
- 6:30Speaker 1: to bounce. Well, yeah, exactly. We need another euphemism for
- 6:36Speaker 1: for that getting it on something perhaps from this century. Oh,
- 6:41Speaker 1: please write in, Please write in, give us suggestions. We
- 6:45Speaker 1: are at hello at Girls Gone HomeLink dot com. Let's
- 6:48Speaker 1: dig into all the things you mentioned. So I rewind
- 6:52Speaker 1: so scary. He just gets worse and worse. It's I
- 6:56Speaker 1: felt uncomfortable watching it. You can see him unraveling. I
- 7:01Speaker 1: mean like it opens with him like watching Irene and
- 7:03Speaker 1: he gives her a necklace and I'm like, oh, this
- 7:05Speaker 1: is giving like abusers, you know, the cycle of abuse
- 7:09Speaker 1: that you go through, that honeymoon phase where you you're
- 7:11Speaker 1: loving nice and you give gifts to bring them back
- 7:14Speaker 1: to your side, and then at work he's bad too. Yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I agree, but I'm okay. So about Irene, I don't
- 7:23Speaker 1: think see I don't think Irene is taken by the
- 7:29Speaker 1: no Me either, you know, the the gifts of it all.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, she sees right through him. The
- 7:36Speaker 1: bloom is off that rose. She is so over him. Agree,
- 7:41Speaker 1: So what I need Watching Irene's realization is kind of
- 7:46Speaker 1: heartbreaking to me. But also you know, I'm gonna need
- 7:51Speaker 1: her in season two to be like a little bit
- 7:55Speaker 1: more strategic and like getting back at him or getting
- 7:58Speaker 1: away from him. I'm hoping that. I hope she just
- 8:02Speaker 1: doesn't like fall into the role of docile wife of Solme's. Well,
- 8:09Speaker 1: she's not docile. I need her to be Taylor Swift
- 8:13Speaker 1: kind of like reputation here you made me do sort of.
- 8:19Speaker 1: She's certainly not behaving the way he wants her to behave.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I think maybe I've been watching The Count of Monte
- 8:25Speaker 1: Cristo too closely. You need her to pull on Edmund dunt.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I need her to get a little We also need
- 8:32Speaker 1: to remember the time and remember that I know she's bankrupt,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and she's bankrupt because of Selms. He deliberately tanks for
- 8:40Speaker 1: satstock that caused her family to lose their entire fortune,
- 8:44Speaker 1: and then married her. And when Joe calls him on it.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Solmes immediately Solmes and Francis do something very similar in
- 8:51Speaker 1: this episode. When they get angry, they immediately turn on
- 8:54Speaker 1: the other person, and he calls Luisa his mistress. He says,
- 8:57Speaker 1: go back to your brats and your mistress. Ah. And
- 9:02Speaker 1: what's interesting is Joe's just so even tempered through that
- 9:04Speaker 1: entire no change. It's just like this the guy you
- 9:08Speaker 1: want in charge. Yeah, no, it's great. I know, some
- 9:11Speaker 1: is just real scary. I mentioned Francis. Honestly, she's just
- 9:14Speaker 1: as mean. She's terrible. She's just as mean. And when
- 9:18Speaker 1: Joe comes home and she's like, we can make this work,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I just and he tells her like in the nicest
- 9:23Speaker 1: way possible. He says, I'll always take care of you.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I'll never I'm not going to ruin you. And she says,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I once found you interesting, now you bore me. Yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 1: this is really interesting. And what I liked about Joe,
- 9:36Speaker 1: I mean, Joe continues to be like a real stand
- 9:38Speaker 1: up dude in my opinion. But she's like, oh, you
- 9:40Speaker 1: want to leave so you can go run off with
- 9:41Speaker 1: your mistress. He's like, it's never been about the mistress.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It's about the children, Like, he's like, why can't you
- 9:47Speaker 1: get that she's so threatened by that? I mean, he
- 9:51Speaker 1: does go be with her. I think Louis is a
- 9:54Speaker 1: cheery on top in this situation. Yeah, but he's telling
- 9:59Speaker 1: me the viewer, like he wants to be there for
- 10:01Speaker 1: his kids, and I believe him. Do you not believe
- 10:05Speaker 1: that's the whole story? Well, I mean he might want
- 10:09Speaker 1: to be like he really wants to maybe get back
- 10:12Speaker 1: to the Venus Joe Venus Joe. That's a good question.
- 10:16Speaker 1: If Francis had said, fine, have a relationship with these children,
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'm cool with that. Would that have been enough for him?
- 10:24Speaker 1: If he could have had an open relationship, been there
- 10:26Speaker 1: for them, provided for them financially, been a father figure
- 10:29Speaker 1: without necessarily letting them know. I don't know if they'll
- 10:32Speaker 1: let them in on who he is ever. I feel
- 10:34Speaker 1: like the draw to Luisa was really strong. I do
- 10:37Speaker 1: feel like he was trying to do the right thing
- 10:38Speaker 1: all along, and he was trying to I'm married to you,
- 10:42Speaker 1: but let me have a relationship with my children. Would
- 10:44Speaker 1: they have continued maybe this push and pull back and
- 10:47Speaker 1: forth for a longer period of time. But Louisa sees
- 10:50Speaker 1: him for who he is, and Francis has only seen
- 10:54Speaker 1: him for what he could be, right, And I think
- 10:57Speaker 1: he realized that. So I think he was as good
- 11:01Speaker 1: as he could possibly be. But in the end, chose
- 11:03Speaker 1: his own happiness and I don't judge him for that,
- 11:06Speaker 1: because Francis is not the kind of person that I
- 11:09Speaker 1: would want to be attached to for the rest of
- 11:12Speaker 1: my life. God, I mean, Joe's not a dummy. He's
- 11:15Speaker 1: had to have seen like how Francis operates all these years, right,
- 11:20Speaker 1: ten years or whatever. It is, Like she is so
- 11:24Speaker 1: interested in the social respect of it all and being
- 11:29Speaker 1: seen in society and so on. That's that's just not
- 11:32Speaker 1: new news to him. Nope. So maybe if we had
- 11:36Speaker 1: just the tiniest bit more context of like Joe realizing
- 11:40Speaker 1: how different Louisa and Francis are and then being like,
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'm more into Louisa and this, but I don't know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: there's no way it ends us easily in season two though,
- 11:52Speaker 1: Like it's not just going to be the end of
- 11:55Speaker 1: Like Joe's not going to get to go live in
- 11:57Speaker 1: the country house with Louisa with the kids, get back
- 12:00Speaker 1: to his art. Yeah, Francis is not going to let
- 12:02Speaker 1: it go that easy, don't you well, Lena, his dad
- 12:04Speaker 1: probably is not going to let his role with Foreside
- 12:07Speaker 1: and Co go that easily. Francis is the main player.
- 12:09Speaker 1: She's gonna stick around somehow, so I think she absolutely will.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Then maybe this is when she starts to get it
- 12:17Speaker 1: on with Joe Senior. Maybe maybe they realize like they're
- 12:24Speaker 1: meant to be perhaps gross. Could you even imagine now
- 12:29Speaker 1: married to your husband for how many years? And then
- 12:32Speaker 1: you guys split up and then you get together with
- 12:34Speaker 1: your husband's father. Although Joe Senior's real silver Fox. Oh
- 12:38Speaker 1: I'm Stephen Moyer. Is that his name? Yeah? Like wasn't
- 12:42Speaker 1: he a true blood? Yeah? Yeah. I would also like
- 12:44Speaker 1: to point out France's terribleness when she goes to the
- 12:48Speaker 1: charity and she's like, don't you think these women should
- 12:50Speaker 1: atone for their sins? Like, shouldn't we just publicly humiliate
- 12:54Speaker 1: these women who have not had perfect lives? I just thought, Wow,
- 12:59Speaker 1: you're you're just a real terrible person. You know, she
- 13:02Speaker 1: should be careful. What's that saying? You don't throw stones
- 13:05Speaker 1: and glasshouses or something? She was about to be divorced
- 13:09Speaker 1: before that. She's a widow. Yes, yeah, she could have
- 13:13Speaker 1: been alone on the streets with her daughter, Not on
- 13:15Speaker 1: the streets but in need of hell. Yes, but for
- 13:19Speaker 1: the grace of God and the Foresights. Yeah, I think
- 13:24Speaker 1: she purposely went after Joe. But the Four Sights felt
- 13:29Speaker 1: like she was a get for them too. In that
- 13:31Speaker 1: wedding scene in the beginning, they so gross. They wanted
- 13:36Speaker 1: her for what she could bring to the family. Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and you know her her big thing at the end
- 13:42Speaker 1: where she is going to donate all this money or
- 13:44Speaker 1: start her own Yeah, I can't remember it. It's exactly
- 13:49Speaker 1: what happens, obviously, that's calculated. Calculated. That's the word I
- 13:53Speaker 1: was looking for. Thank you, But did you understand the
- 13:58Speaker 1: purpose behind that? Not really? So is this her way
- 14:02Speaker 1: of she knows that Joe is leaving. Joe leaving, she
- 14:07Speaker 1: knows is going to reflect on her negatively because the
- 14:09Speaker 1: elder Carteret woman had been throwing shade at her because
- 14:13Speaker 1: there were rumors around town, right, Joe and Francis weren't
- 14:17Speaker 1: doing so well, right, And she knows that people are like, oh,
- 14:21Speaker 1: look at Frances getting divorced like that. It'll be a
- 14:24Speaker 1: stain on her worth. Right? Is she doing this to
- 14:29Speaker 1: ingratiate herself with this society, like I still have value,
- 14:34Speaker 1: You still need to let me be one of you.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I think so. I was trying to think if there's
- 14:38Speaker 1: something more sinister in it than that, but I suspect
- 14:42Speaker 1: there's not. It's definitely calculated at this least. Oh, sorry,
- 14:48Speaker 1: go ahead. A few things for leading to Irene Okay,
- 14:51Speaker 1: Solmes was chilling when she says, remember when you said
- 14:55Speaker 1: you'd release me, and he says, I can't recall I
- 14:59Speaker 1: would make such a promise. Gas lighting here. Yes, I
- 15:03Speaker 1: never would have said such a thing. And then the
- 15:07Speaker 1: heat between Irene and Philip. I hate it, but they
- 15:11Speaker 1: got the heat. I hate I we'll talk about it.
- 15:15Speaker 1: The last thing I liked Anne removing the chair that
- 15:18Speaker 1: was meant for Joe and Monty tries to sit in it.
- 15:20Speaker 1: She's so funny. I just hope. I hope Monty never
- 15:25Speaker 1: gets his rightful place in the family. I just hope
- 15:27Speaker 1: they continue to He's just the clown. Yeah, let's take
- 15:31Speaker 1: a good break and we'll come right back with our wishes.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I only have one real main wish about this episode, okay,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and it goes right back to what we were talking about.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I hate that poor June is headed for heartbreak. June,
- 15:52Speaker 1: she's gonna be collateral damage. And she's great. She's so
- 15:58Speaker 1: earnest and sweet, and she's been such a good friend
- 16:00Speaker 1: to Irene, and she's she's rooting for her man and
- 16:06Speaker 1: who he is and to get his first commission, and
- 16:08Speaker 1: she's just so excited. And when she grabs his hand
- 16:11Speaker 1: and they go running down the street together, it just
- 16:13Speaker 1: breaks my heart, I know, And I have to question.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, so is it possible Philip and Irene
- 16:20Speaker 1: have they known each other maybe? Or is this just
- 16:24Speaker 1: like some sort of instant Like I don't see Irene
- 16:26Speaker 1: like fawning over him, Like I don't. I see Philip
- 16:29Speaker 1: being like very interested in Irene, but I don't I
- 16:32Speaker 1: don't totally see like the interest from Irene in the
- 16:36Speaker 1: final scene when they're framed in that window, the final
- 16:39Speaker 1: scene of them together, Okay, it seems like there's an attraction,
- 16:42Speaker 1: But prior to that, I would agree, I would agree
- 16:44Speaker 1: with you, Oh what is Irene gonna do? Here? What
- 16:49Speaker 1: is Philip gonna do? Phillip's got his commission, He's gonna
- 16:52Speaker 1: end up getting married to June, or at least headed
- 16:55Speaker 1: that direction. Yeah, boy, oh boy. Question, Maybe I miss it.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Did it's Solmes pick up on anything between Philip and
- 17:03Speaker 1: Irene and that's why he gave Philip the commission so
- 17:06Speaker 1: he will marry June. Or did he give Philip the
- 17:08Speaker 1: commission one because he wants to put Irene in like
- 17:12Speaker 1: a house far away? Or third option, did he give
- 17:16Speaker 1: Philip the commission as stick it to to that side
- 17:19Speaker 1: of the family because they don't. Oh, that's an interesting perspective.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Maybe that I just thought he was like, I gotta
- 17:27Speaker 1: get Irene out of here. I gotta get her out
- 17:29Speaker 1: of the country and away from people. I need to
- 17:32Speaker 1: isolate her houses out in the country, already built a vacant.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know either. I don't know. Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 1: that's probably my biggest wish too, Like I didn't see
- 17:41Speaker 1: it coming, and I don't like to see where it's
- 17:43Speaker 1: going either, Like just because I love June, me too,
- 17:47Speaker 1: what's not to love? Yeah, we already talked about. My
- 17:50Speaker 1: other wish was that I thought this was a good
- 17:52Speaker 1: setup for season two when you break it down to
- 17:56Speaker 1: all the things that happen, Yes, it's a lot. I
- 18:00Speaker 1: was hoping for something between Francis and Joe SR. I
- 18:05Speaker 1: don't know, Joe Junior walking in on them or something.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I don't know. She's got to maintain the moral high
- 18:11Speaker 1: ground for now. Yeah, for sure. Are you excited for
- 18:14Speaker 1: a season two? I am me too. I really like
- 18:19Speaker 1: this show. I like playing in this era a little there,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I'm shocked that I like it so much. Yeah, it's
- 18:26Speaker 1: This show is very entertaining. And speaking of season two,
- 18:29Speaker 1: if you had read the post on our website, there
- 18:31Speaker 1: are a few new cast members joining. The main one
- 18:34Speaker 1: that they made the big announcement about is Richard Rankin.
- 18:37Speaker 1: They have not his photos on our website. They have
- 18:39Speaker 1: not named his character, and he is listed on IMDb
- 18:43Speaker 1: under the foresights without a character name. I'm guessing he's
- 18:46Speaker 1: Henry Falconer. He's a real Wowie's Howie. Yeah, I don't
- 18:49Speaker 1: know who this dude is. He was an Outlander and Sarah, Alexander,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and nia Ashi are joining the cast as well, although
