- 1:12This week we are going to be talking about Ferrari's latest,
- 1:16I don't want to say onslaught.
- 1:18God, how would, I'm trying to think of what the right word would be to say this.
- 1:21Their latest thing to rail against, I guess you could say, and attacking
- 1:26owners and what someone's allowed to do with their car after they buy it.
- 1:30Now they put out a presser in regards to stating, and I'm sure they were
- 1:35kind of doing this, but I don't know how wild they let people get, but
- 1:38in their personalization program.
- 1:41Obviously, those lucky few that are in that little, uh, family or
- 1:46whatever, they get to choose and customize their cars from the factory.
- 1:51Ferrari says they're going to tighten the reins, so to speak, on what someone's
- 1:55going to be allowed to do, can't do, or what they're going to let someone do.
- 1:59Now, obviously, I don't think they're going to let him come out of the factory
- 2:02like in polka dots and stuff like that.
- 2:04But as the YouTube generation and Instagram, TikTok and all that gets
- 2:12bigger and more influential and people needing to stand out from
- 2:16the guy next to him, so to speak.
- 2:18So they're doing stupider, wilder, crazier things with their car.
- 2:22Ferrari's just not going to let you come out of the gate swinging for the fences.
- 2:27with the car from the factory that's customized to the tilt.
- 2:30So they're going to get really stringent and strict in regards to
- 2:34what you're going to be able to do.
- 2:35And it's going to, and this is going to come down to color combinations too.
- 2:38I don't think they're going to let someone go nuts with the color interior choice.
- 2:41Like even if you're doing a solid exterior.
- 2:44Then, you know, your interior colors, they're not going to let someone go
- 2:48with a yellow exterior, red interior with green stripes, you know, something
- 2:52stupid that makes it look like it's a hamburger topping on it, you know, just
- 2:56like with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and all that kind of stuff.
- 2:59So they're going to get a little more strict in regards to that.
- 3:02Cause I think they're, you know, looking at obviously resale side of it.
- 3:05And I would say, you know, looking out for that purchaser, because you get more
- 3:11and more individualized with your options and choices, which what you do for your
- 3:16guys from the factory, or even after the fact, I mean, you really narrowed down.
- 3:20You're buying audience when you go to resell that car.
- 3:24I mean, and it's with any car.
- 3:25Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, any car.
- 3:26Chevy, doesn't matter.
- 3:28You know, if you get stupid with some combos and stuff like that, you're
- 3:31buying pool gets very, very small because now you're talking about
- 3:35someone's personal preference and taste.
- 3:37And let's face it, you know, and to try and remedy some of those
- 3:40things, even though you're working with a great solid base, you're
- 3:43working with a 296 or 488, whatever.
- 3:47Okay.
- 3:47Yeah, you can go back and you can change it.
- 3:49It's one thing to do it on, say, a Chevy Corvette or something like that, where I
- 3:52say it's relatively cheap, so to speak.
- 3:54You know, you got your Ferrari tax, so it's gonna be a lot more expensive to
- 3:57get stuff back to either original or factory or what have you on a Ferrari
- 4:01than it is, say, on a Chevy or a Ford.
- 4:04So, you gotta look that way.
- 4:05Now, of course, people that are buying these things got the checkbooks
- 4:08and the pocketbook, you know, to be able to remedy these things.
- 4:11But surprisingly, and I'm sure a lot of you probably do know this or are aware of
- 4:15this, rich people are very, very cheap.
- 4:17Very, very cheap and stingy.
- 4:19Uh, I don't know, maybe that's the way they, you know, they are rich.
- 4:22They hold onto the money because they just are very, very cheap.
- 4:26I mean, I can tell you horror stories.
- 4:27People trying to save, you know, a hundred bucks or something like that and the guy's
- 4:30worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 4:32He wants to save a hundred dollars and cheapen out.
- 4:34This kind of goes back to the shipping situation in regards to someone Trying
- 4:37to go with the cheapest route for someone shipping their million dollar car.
- 4:40Why would you do that?
- 4:42So, and that's a scenario too is they're going to go the cheapest route or they're
- 4:45going to expect it for free or like that.
- 4:47Cause as also rich people kind of anticipate the figure everyone
- 4:49should just give them everything because, Oh, I have all this money.
- 4:51Just give me stuff for free.
- 4:53Their mentality and the way they view the world is so different from
- 4:57actual people that live in the real world compared to where they are.
- 4:59But anyways, and this kind of goes back to my last episode in regards to.
- 5:04These annoying YouTubers and their statements they make about
- 5:07what they do with their cars.
- 5:08Ferrari's getting more and more tricked, I guess, I guess you could
- 5:12say, in regards to setting out cease and desist letters and telling
- 5:16people, Hey, you can't do that.
- 5:18Hey, you're diminishing our brand value because you're doing this to your car.
- 5:23Some of the people that I was referencing in my last episode, it's like, they're
- 5:27just waiting, counting the days till they get the cease and desist.
- 5:30Well, they get it.
- 5:31Who knows?
- 5:31On one side of it, they're worried about their brand and value and all that.
- 5:37Also is another side, when you got someone that's got four or 5 million
- 5:40subscribers and they get, you know, half a million views per video, as soon as
- 5:45it drops, that's pretty good marketing.
- 5:47That's not costing you a penny.
- 5:49So it's kind of like.
- 5:50All right, where do you draw that line?
- 5:51And, you know, I've heard the stories, you know, people fiddle with it and they
- 5:55do certain things to it, but then they remove the badging, and if they don't
- 5:59refer to it as a Ferrari XYZ, whatever you want to call it, then, you know, they
- 6:02kind of will leave you alone, but they get a little prickly when you start fiddling
- 6:07with Something and you throw the Ferrari name in there and they put some other
- 6:12name or something to it But then the car is like absolutely horrendously gaudy
- 6:15and ugly nothing against I like some of the stuff Liberty Walk does Don't get me
- 6:20wrong, you know some of the stuff that their kits and stuff are pretty nice.
- 6:24They're pretty cool.
- 6:25Again though, I'm a purist.
- 6:26I don't like things too obscene or too crazy because some of the things they put
- 6:29out there are just like way over the top.
- 6:31Now I will say what they just did with that Lamborghini Miura is outstanding.
- 6:34That looks gorgeous.
- 6:36Subtle, but what they did was instead of like just doing some bolt
- 6:39on stuff to the fenders and that kind of stuff, they actually made.
- 6:42Whole clamshell the whole thing and whatnot.
- 6:44So it's all one piece.
- 6:45So it all looks like it was almost from the factory Not so much.
- 6:48Okay, you just went down to AutoZone and bought yourself some mud guards and
- 6:52screwed them on with some tap screws You know that kind of scenario sad to say
- 6:56some of this stuff does look like You get some of these guys that you know again
- 7:00trying to get views is I'm gonna buy something off of Timu and get it On there.
- 7:04Obviously you good.
- 7:05Well, no, I mean any kid you can buy anything from anywhere
- 7:08high end low end whatnot It's never always going to fit 100%.
- 7:12You're always going to have to fiddle with it.
- 7:13You're going to have to have body work done to it.
- 7:15It's just plain and simple.
- 7:16It's just, it's the way it is.
- 7:17I mean, unless you build each kit specifically for each car, like you
- 7:23do a 3D scan of it, you got your ferro arm or whatever you're scanning, you
- 7:26scan that specific car, then you get it all made specifically for that car.
- 7:30They're okay, but you still got to do some tweaks to it.
- 7:32But, going back to this fiddling with It's the brand and image and
- 7:37what Ferrari's doing and Porsche is notorious for this as well.
- 7:41I have a little back story on that for a project that I was involved in for a
- 7:46period of time, but the lawyers got ahold of the one person that was involved in
- 7:51this kind of got the whole thing hatched.
- 7:52And you know, they got their panties in a bunch because the way the
- 7:55verbiage were title was like that.
- 7:57Of course, then they got mad at me because I was out there trying to promote it a
- 8:00little bit and I was using exactly what.
- 8:02They had put out there in regards to the website, everything.
- 8:05So they get mad at me.
- 8:06It's like, well, they're going to find out some point in time.
- 8:08So why are you mad at me?
- 8:09You know, I don't get it.
- 8:10But again, it's always those people.
- 8:11They point fingers at everyone else.
- 8:13So looking in the fricking mirror and say, Oh, you know what?
- 8:16I effed up my bad.
- 8:17Oh, well, we got it taken care of.
- 8:19You know, that kind of nonsense.
- 8:20But anyways, back to Ferrari.
- 8:22You're finding it more.
- 8:24I would say with four or five eights are being that's a notorious.
- 8:27But those are the ones you're seeing a lot.
- 8:29That's so much a four, eight, eight.
- 8:31458s, there's a lot of aftermarket kits out there for those cars.
- 8:36Now the one very high profile celebrities that do some obnoxious, really
- 8:41obnoxious things with their car, i.
- 8:43e.
- 8:43there's one Canadian person that got blacklisted by Ferrari because he did some
- 8:49absolutely obnoxious things to his car.
- 8:52So I mean, given blacklist, what's that going to do?
- 8:54Okay.
- 8:54You're not going to be able to buy a new one, but you can
- 8:56buy a used one, obviously.
- 8:58But they went so far and I guess, and it's all how this person is using that
- 9:02vehicle in regards to image and branding and how Ferrari is perceiving it.
- 9:08Yes.
- 9:08They did some.
- 9:09Absolutely obnoxious, totally just horrendous.
- 9:12I mean, this thing looks horrible to the car.
- 9:14So kudos to Friar say, no, you can't do that.
- 9:16You can't have our emblems on there.
- 9:18You can't have any Ferrari branding on that car.
- 9:20And you cannot say anything saying that it is a Ferrari because that is
- 9:24not the Ferrari that left our factory.
- 9:26So you cannot say that.
- 9:27So that's kind of the big thing is like, look, if you're going to do it, you just,
- 9:29you cannot put it out there that this is a Ferrari, or this is my Ferrari.
- 9:34blah, blah, blah.
- 9:35Bieber model.
- 9:36There you go.
- 9:37I said his name, you know, that kind of scenario.
- 9:38So they keep track of that pretty tight.
- 9:42Again, it's gonna be interesting to see how far they're going to go with it.
- 9:45Cause I've been on the side that once I buy something, it's mine.
- 9:50I can do whatever the F I want with it.
- 9:53You can't tell me.
- 9:55As a matter of fact, that's what commerce is.
- 9:57You make something, you sell it, it's mine.
- 9:59I own it.
- 10:00You don't own it anymore.
- 10:02You have no say in this situation.
- 10:04It's interesting, this day and age, I don't know, the lawyers are very
- 10:07good, how things are interpreted from, you know, one country to the next,
- 10:11I don't know, but I think it's rude.
- 10:15Plain and simple.
- 10:16I just think it's wrong.
- 10:17You should be able to do what you want with your car after you buy it and you
- 10:19can't have the manufacturer coming in dictating to you after the fact that oh
- 10:23you can't do this you can't do that it's like hey I just spent half a million
- 10:26dollars on this car from you even after the fact you know it was a 10 year old
- 10:29car I bought it used for 200 grand and you're trying to tell me after the fact
- 10:33that I can't bolt this on I can't do that I mean and everyone knows what brand it
- 10:38is everyone can 200 Plainly see what it is, unless you're doing something crazy,
- 10:44you know, doing a complete new body shell or front clip, rear clip, quarter, rear
- 10:48quarter, you're doing something totally outlandish with this car turned into
- 10:53a four by four or something, you know, jacking up an F40, making it off road,
- 10:56buy it, you know, that kind of stuff.
- 10:58People will know exactly what that car is and what brand it
- 11:00is and how it started life out.
- 11:02I don't see what their point is in trying to come after that fact and doing it.
- 11:06Plus the fact that if you're going after someone that's like a YouTuber, Instagram,
- 11:10whatever, TikToker, they're just going to take that and that's just fodder for their
- 11:14followers and what they can put out there.
- 11:16It's almost like they want to get that cease and desist because you want to talk
- 11:21about content that's good for four or five episodes and talk about stuff in the
- 11:26future because you can always go back and reference it and drop it in their own.
- 11:29If you haven't seen that, go back and watch this video,
- 11:30you know, that kind of stuff.
- 11:31So it's almost like they're daring.
- 11:34Ferrari to send them the cease and desist because they want it and again like these
- 11:39one gentlemen that are doing that Supposed as they like to say the only one in the
- 11:42world They mention it quite often in their videos when they're talking about this car
- 11:48that you know Oh, we haven't got it yet.
- 11:49Why not and they even use the tease that they've gotten a cease and
- 11:52desist supposedly But then it's something completely different you
- 11:55know that clickbait shit doing the bait and switch stuff on you to get
- 11:58you to watch the video and Oh, we got to watch all the way to the end.
- 12:01It's a 40 minute video.
- 12:02Yeah, well you know what you can do?
- 12:03You just fast forward the video.
- 12:04You don't have to sit there and watch the whole damn thing.
- 12:06Because it's basically always the same stuff.
- 12:08There's really nothing ever new in it.
- 12:10You know, you got to wonder about the life of these.
- 12:13Because, you know, look at it as, you know, a show.
- 12:16A sitcom.
- 12:16On, well, I guess it used to be on regular TV, but now wherever.
- 12:20It's got a life to it.
- 12:21Because it runs its course, because you only can repackage and regurgitate
- 12:25something so many times, so many different ways, then you're done.
- 12:28So, unless you get real creative.
- 12:30And again, that's when these YouTubers, they start going nuts
- 12:32and start doing stupid crap.
- 12:34They totally deviate away from what they actually Started the channel
- 12:37out at as an automotive channel look at some of these really big ones
- 12:41I got a lot of followers look at whistling diesel how you start out.
- 12:44Okay, so what are you doing now?
- 12:45What was his latest one someone gave him?
- 12:47I think it was more advertisement for his lawyer or whatever it was But
- 12:50you know they took this guy's Rolls Royce and beat the shit out of it in
- 12:53LA then Vegas And that's all I did was just go out and destroy the car
- 12:56just driving like an asshole I just started watching Cletus McFarlane.
- 12:59I never really got into what he was doing, but after his little NASCAR
- 13:01stuff, running the ARCA race, stuff like that, I started watching it,
- 13:03and you know, he's not a bad dude.
- 13:04Guy's super smart.
- 13:05I'll give him that.
- 13:06I mean, super intelligent guy.
- 13:07He knows what he's doing, but kind of getting away from his Freedom
- 13:11Factory and race stuff like that, because from my understanding,
- 13:14because he was just on Dale Jr.
- 13:15's Dirty Mo Media's podcast, and Job the Bomb, that their thing is to build the
- 13:21shortest, Smallest aircraft boat carrier.
- 13:24I guess you could say that's only gonna be three pontoon boats long So it's
- 13:27like 60 or 70 feet because I guess you know, he's a really good pilot Garrett
- 13:31Mitchell is his real name So I guess Garrett's a super talented pilot and
- 13:35he does stall competitions And though you know stall competition is take
- 13:39these single engine prop planes Cessnas Whatever and you're able to take off in
- 13:44like 50 60 feet and land them short and all this kind of crazy stuff It's very
- 13:48I would say But it's really cool stuff.
- 13:51I mean, it takes a lot of talent to do it, you know, because it's one thing to
- 13:54kind of fiddle around on the ground with a car and stuff like that, you stall
- 13:57whatnot, but when you're up in the air in a plane, you're 500 feet in the air,
- 14:00even a hundred feet in the air, you know, some screws up, you're falling a
- 14:03hundred feet flat straight to the ground.
- 14:04Yeah.
- 14:04You're dead.
- 14:05So again, now you're talking, he's deviating away from what he originally
- 14:10doing the freedom factory, doing the races, doing that kind of stuff.
- 14:12Cause he's got to get the audience.
- 14:14Okay.
- 14:14I just sidetracked way off of what I'm supposed to be talking about
- 14:18again, and Ferrari and branding and image and stuff like that.
- 14:21So it goes back to his.
- 14:23You know, my argument is how can the manufacturer instead, not just
- 14:27Ferrari, how can they come back at you for something, especially
- 14:30if you're like the fourth, fifth, sixth owner of that said car.
- 14:34Cause let's face it, people do not keep these cars for five, six, seven, 10 years.
- 14:39They keep them for a year, six months, get their use out of it, get
- 14:43their peacocking done to go out and look at me, puff out their chest.
- 14:46Oh yeah, I'm so cool.
- 14:46I got to show all their friends off.
- 14:48Then they turn around and they sell it.
- 14:49A, you know, they stretched themselves too thin or B, they
- 14:51got bored of it or who knows.
- 14:53You look at Carfax or history on these cars, a good majority of them have had
- 14:59multiple owners in their short lives.
- 15:01Now, okay, if you got a 10 year old car, three owners, okay, that's not bad.
- 15:04But when you have a five year old car and it's gotten six
- 15:07owners, what's that telling you?
- 15:08You know, and you look at this, it's going to tell you mileage,
- 15:10everything like that on it too.
- 15:11But how can you go after someone who's like, I'm the
- 15:14fifth person to own this car.
- 15:15So it's traded hands four times prior, but you're still coming at
- 15:20me saying, I can't do this with my can't do what I want to the car.
- 15:24I don't understand it.
- 15:25And again, that's, you know, how the law works and everything like that.
- 15:29And I think it boils down to basically is deep pockets.
- 15:31You know, let's face it, who's really going to go back and try and battle
- 15:35Ferrari in the open court system because they got nothing but time and money.
- 15:39Now, okay, if you're a billionaire or whatnot, you're the same position.
- 15:42You got nothing but time or money, but is it really worth it to drop
- 15:46millions and millions of dollars to try and prove your point?
- 15:48Now, ego gets in the way for some of these people.
- 15:50I can see him doing it, but you don't hear about people battling this.
- 15:54Now you do hear some people battling in regards to like that one.
- 15:58It was just with these Jaguar D types.
- 16:00They were building the replicas of, you know, they start out,
- 16:03they built one for themselves.
- 16:04And again, then it blows up because someone sees it.
- 16:05Hey, can you build me one?
- 16:06Dah, dah, dah.
- 16:07And you know, actually built in like 60, 70 of them.
- 16:09All of a sudden Jaguar comes after him saying, you know, it's
- 16:11copyright infringement, blah, blah, blah, all this stuff.
- 16:13They lost at first, but then they came back around and appealed and all that.
- 16:17And so they ended up winning.
- 16:18So then final cost, all this crap, he added up, but you know, Jaguar had to.
- 16:22Pay everything because these people won so it's kind of again, where's that line get
- 16:28drawn and what legal right and recourse does a manufacturer have to go after
- 16:34someone because let's face it, you have these multi billion dollar corporations
- 16:38going after a little mom and pop to do it.
- 16:40You know, 500, 000 a year.
- 16:42I mean, They know that they're just going to basically intimidate them and freak
- 16:47them out and scare them enough away that they're just going, okay, we'll stop.
- 16:50We'll stop.
- 16:50All right.
- 16:50Yeah.
- 16:51Hands up.
- 16:51Okay.
- 16:51I got it.
- 16:52We'll get rid of everything.
- 16:53But to those people with the Jags, I mean, that was a huge financial.
- 16:58Basically, bury them beyond broke in the poor house.
- 17:02They would have basically ended up in the end losing completely.
- 17:05But I think these manufacturers, they don't give a shit.
- 17:07They're like, you know, they'll go in and just look who we are, flex their muscles
- 17:11and say, Raaah, we're gonna scare you!
- 17:13RUN!
- 17:14That kind of scenario.
- 17:15Being a bully.
- 17:16Instead of embracing it, now they said, you have those smaller manufacturers.
- 17:20They embrace it.
- 17:21No, do that because it's your own car.
- 17:23See what we can do because think about it.
- 17:25When a car is designed and built, you're getting the vision of who's ever
- 17:30employed by that builder, manufacturer, that group, those people, that person,
- 17:35whatever, the outside entity, yada, yada.
- 17:37You see it all the time, but someone's looking at a car and
- 17:40say, well, I would have done this.
- 17:41Well, I might've tweaked this.
- 17:42I might've taken this line this way.
- 17:43You know, everyone's going to view something differently.
- 17:45The manufacturer's trying to make a, build a car that I want to say appeals
- 17:50to a large audience instead of just like.
- 17:52F you, I don't care.
- 17:54This is what I like.
- 17:54And if you don't like it, then don't buy it.
- 17:56Well, no, they got to sell vehicles.
- 17:57They're going to stay in business.
- 17:58So again, it's going to see how this plays out because if they can get
- 18:03away with it and bullying people and making it stop, everyone else
- 18:07is going to fall right in line.
- 18:08Look at what has been happening in regards to a lot of these manufacturers
- 18:12coming out with these halo cars and basically making these owners sign.
- 18:16Documents stating that you cannot sell this for two years or their legal
- 18:21action will be taken against you.
- 18:23Now, Ford did this and they lost against John Cena against
- 18:27his Ford GT, the new one.
- 18:29You know, he bought it and within two months turned around and sold it.
- 18:32He only made half a million dollars on it, but Ford went after him, but Cena won.
- 18:36So what does that kind of tell you?
- 18:39What does that say?
- 18:40It's only worth what it's written on.
- 18:41That's the value of it because, you know, lawyer, you know, it doesn't matter.
- 18:44Contracts, what not.
- 18:45Contract may be broken.
- 18:46If you got a good enough lawyer, they can work your way around it and get
- 18:48you out of, you know, everything.
- 18:49Again, it all boils down to money.
- 18:51That's why it's unfortunate you get some of these people that are innocent
- 18:54that end up going to jail because they can't afford proper representation
- 18:57and they get screwed and then they're in jail and it takes 30 years.
- 19:02for them to finally get acquitted and then, you know, then they don't
- 19:05get any money or it gets capped.
- 19:06I mean, that kind of stupid shit.
- 19:07But anyway, back to the point is again, my, uh, ADD, OCD, whatever, all that
- 19:12stuff makes me go on these sidetracks.
- 19:13My brain works out that way.
- 19:15And I know some of you understand that, but anyways, back to my final
- 19:18point here, to what point does a manufacturer have the right?
- 19:23To dictate to someone.
- 19:25Now I agree when someone comes in, they're building a brand new car and order it
- 19:29from the factory, Ferrari and whoever else can say, no, we're not going to do that.
- 19:34No, no, no, no.
- 19:35That's no, we're not going to put that color combination.
- 19:37No, we're no, we can't do that.
- 19:39No, no, no, no.
- 19:40That's fine, because, hey, they're building what, their control,
- 19:42because they still own that car.
- 19:44The sale has, the transaction has not been completed.
- 19:47After the fact, I buy it, I own it.
- 19:49And especially if I'm like the fourth, fifth, sixth owner of said car, how
- 19:53can you come at me and tell me what I can and can't do with my car?
- 19:56Good taste, bad taste, whatever.
- 19:58If I'm going to put pink ponies all over it, polka dot, whatever.
- 20:01I, that's my car.
- 20:02I can do whatever the F I want with it.
- 20:04Like I said, it's going to be interesting to see how far they take this.
- 20:07And you know, Ferrari is very uppity and you know, they got
- 20:10their nose up in the air so I could see them pushing this real far.
- 20:13I mean, they got very deep pockets and yes, they have their own entity
- 20:17in the public trade, but you know, they got fiat money behind them.
- 20:19So, I mean.
- 20:20Trust me, it's a battle that I don't think you want to get into because
- 20:23it's a battle you, I don't know.
- 20:24Again, it just boils down to how good your lawyers are.
- 20:27That's what it is.
- 20:27So, but anyways, that's my viewpoint on it.
