- 0:33Speaker 3: football Friday. Live from Rouse's on Burbank and Lee here in.
- 0:38Speaker 2: The capital city. Yeah, it is. Jake Flynn. You nailed it.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Cassie here with you at Rouse's.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Alondra and Tay-Tay holding it down there in downtown Baton
- 0:49Speaker 3: Rouge in the studio.
- 0:51Speaker 2: It's finally catching on, huh? Told you. I told you.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I said it on the LSU broadcast last weekend. We
- 1:00Speaker 2: are going, it's like they tried to make Fetch a
- 1:02Speaker 2: thing in Mean Girls. We're going to make the Capital
- 1:04Speaker 2: City a.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Thing here in the Capital City.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Nailed it. Good morning, buddy. Excited to see you.
- 1:11Speaker 4: I would like to say that you just brought a
- 1:14Speaker 4: whole ball of energy in with you this morning, but
- 1:18Speaker 4: you got locked out. Safety first here at Rouse's.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It was about to be a substitute teacher situation. No,
- 1:25Speaker 2: I wasn't going to let that happen. I sat out there.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Nobody was answering the door. I knocked right here.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Cassie didn't hear me, but the alarm would have gone
- 1:33Speaker 3: off if she opened the door, so that would have
- 1:35Speaker 3: been a whole mess. You went and got somebody. They
- 1:38Speaker 3: were real helpful. They were not helpful. They weren't helpful
- 1:43Speaker 3: at the door.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It was about to be a substitute teacher situation. Well,
- 1:47Speaker 2: you got it. It was about to be me and
- 1:48Speaker 2: Cassie up here at the table. Cassie and Flynn, OTB. Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 2: it happened.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Safety first here. Excited to be at Rouse's right here
- 1:58Speaker 4: on Burbank again. Week number two, college football. Can you
- 2:03Speaker 4: feel it? Can you feel the energy? Well, it's a
- 2:06Speaker 4: Louisiana taxi. It's not quite as much energy in the air.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It's sold out, though.
- 2:10Speaker 4: It is sold out, which is fantastic. What a great
- 2:13Speaker 4: response by the fans.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah. By the people.
- 2:17Speaker 4: But still, it's still one of those weeks, week two,
- 2:21Speaker 4: that you're kind of getting ready. You are looking forward
- 2:23Speaker 4: to getting to Tiger Stadium. You are looking forward to tailgating.
- 2:26Speaker 4: You are looking forward to seeing your Tigers, led by
- 2:28Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin, run out on the field.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Hopefully they play like they did this past week.
- 2:33Speaker 4: But you kind of also have, like, one eye looking
- 2:36Speaker 4: into the distance, looking into Oxford, Mississippi a little bit.
- 2:39Speaker 4: We hope the team doesn't. And I don't think they do.
- 2:42Speaker 4: I don't think they will. I think Louisiana Tech is
- 2:43Speaker 4: about to feel the wrath of– The.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Whole nation, basically.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Everybody coming together to cheer against LSU. Well, I think
- 2:53Speaker 4: it's galvanized the team. I think it's brought everybody together.
- 2:56Speaker 4: So we're excited to see the Tigers take the field tomorrow.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Excited for the rest of the lineup in college football.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Some great game this weekend that we will get into
- 3:08Speaker 4: throughout the show today. And look, I'm excited for football Friday.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Excited to be here. My sushi guy isn't here. which
- 3:16Speaker 4: I'm a little bit concerned for his health because my guy.
- 3:19Speaker 4: He probably can't get in the door.
- 3:20Speaker 2: My guy is always here.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Yeah, they did a different safety protocol this morning with
- 3:27Speaker 4: the doors.
- 3:27Speaker 2: They did. We almost didn't get in. There was a
- 3:29Speaker 2: walkie-talkie involved. Yeah, the walkie-talkie was involved last year a
- 3:33Speaker 2: few times. Oh, was it? Okay. Now, you get here,
- 3:36Speaker 2: you know. Yeah, why would I get here at like 630? Well,
- 3:39Speaker 2: you know, just to prep. What did you prep? Well,
- 3:42Speaker 2: I got these my eyes off the shelf. Kind of
- 3:45Speaker 2: stocked up a little bit over here now. That's not prep.
- 3:47Speaker 2: That's advertising. I kind of got after. Kind of got
- 3:49Speaker 2: after the distributor a little bit.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Oh.
- 3:52Speaker 4: We ain't doing this. We're not playing this game. My people,
- 3:55Speaker 4: you better triple stock it around here.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Okay. That's not prep. That's advertising.
- 4:00Speaker 4: I also got my computer and my iPad out.
- 4:03Speaker 2: All right. What else? I got my notebook out. You
- 4:05Speaker 2: got it out. Okay. I got double pens. Yep.
- 4:08Speaker 4: What'd you write with those pens? I said hi to Cassie.
- 4:11Speaker 4: You didn't even say hi to Cassie this morning.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I did. I introduced her on the show.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Yeah, but you didn't have niceties. You didn't talk to her. Say, hello,
- 4:19Speaker 4: how's your day going?
- 4:22Speaker 2: Hey, Cassie. How's your day going? It's going good. If
- 4:26Speaker 2: she's this close to Chick-fil-A, I know how her day's going.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Okay?
- 4:30Speaker 2: You've got a lot more technology than you do. Yeah,
- 4:34Speaker 2: you do. This little microphone is just droopy. Yeah, that's
- 4:39Speaker 2: the one I had last week. Oh, you switched it. Oh,
- 4:41Speaker 2: I didn't switch it. You son of a gun. Yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's a little bit limpy. It's a challenge. It's a challenge.
- 4:50Speaker 2: It is a limpy fellow.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Somebody was like, can Matt speak closer to the microphone?
- 4:54Speaker 4: And I was like, well, I'm trying, but the microphone's
- 4:56Speaker 4: running away. It's connected to my head, but it's still
- 5:00Speaker 4: trying to run away.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Oh, man. It's fine. We'll get one in a couple years.
- 5:04Speaker 2: We'll get a new one.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Just got to fight through it. Doesn't kill you, make
- 5:08Speaker 2: you stronger. That's fair. It's a good outlook to have.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Thank you. It's a very good outlook to have. And
- 5:14Speaker 2: you're right.
- 5:15Speaker 3: We've got a lot to talk about. We'll preview LSU
- 5:18Speaker 3: La Tech one last time. We'll give you a look
- 5:21Speaker 3: at the Saints versus the Lions. We'll preview here. Because
- 5:24Speaker 3: if last night taught us anything... It's the NFL is
- 5:29Speaker 3: the greatest thing that we have.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 3: And anybody can get got and anybody can beat anybody.
- 5:35Speaker 3: And just when you think you have an idea of
- 5:37Speaker 3: what's going to happen.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Twenty seven to seven happens. Forty niners over the Rams. Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 2: In Australia.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Turns out, turns out you should probably go to Australia
- 5:48Speaker 3: for the week and.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Not 28 hours before the game. And people were asking
- 5:53Speaker 2: me that on my NFL show, and they were like, oh,
- 5:56Speaker 2: I like it. I go, you like it because you're
- 5:57Speaker 2: a Rams fan. That's a big time difference. You're playing
- 6:01Speaker 2: tomorrow when it's today back in the United States. You
- 6:05Speaker 2: should probably get acclimated to that. Yeah, I think.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Both those teams are going probably close to their 40th
- 6:13Speaker 4: hour on Friday.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:16Speaker 4: It being Friday to them, obviously they played on Friday
- 6:18Speaker 4: in Australia yesterday, and still it's Friday here. I'm sure
- 6:22Speaker 4: they're still on the flight back. I mean, they're still
- 6:26Speaker 4: in air.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. For sure. Somebody just caught a cramp. Somebody
- 6:31Speaker 2: just caught a cramp. They're hydrating.
- 6:32Speaker 4: The Rams, you know, the Rams, they forgot about the
- 6:36Speaker 4: loss before they even stepped on. They're right in the
- 6:37Speaker 4: middle of some spades, lots of different, maybe some sheephead,
- 6:42Speaker 4: lots of different card games are planned. But, yeah, that
- 6:45Speaker 4: was a anything can happen in the NFL. And a
- 6:49Speaker 4: lot of talk about the super team. Well, I guess
- 6:53Speaker 4: everybody kind of forgot that.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Kyle Shanahan can coach his ass off, especially when his
- 7:00Speaker 4: team is like at.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Least fairly healthy. I guess you could say they're fairly healthy.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Last year they were the most unhealthy and they were
- 7:08Speaker 4: still finding ways to win games. Kyle Shanahan is an
- 7:12Speaker 4: absolute monster.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah, he is. My God.
- 7:15Speaker 4: I mean, his first 15 plays, you know, you kind
- 7:18Speaker 4: of diagram out. We've talked about it here. You diagram
- 7:20Speaker 4: out your first 15 plays on how you think they're
- 7:22Speaker 4: going to go as long as you stay in normal
- 7:23Speaker 4: down the distance.
- 7:25Speaker 2: This is the script that we're going to go. I mean,
- 7:27Speaker 2: it's a beautiful thing.
- 7:28Speaker 4: It is just, it is like, I'm not even, I
- 7:33Speaker 4: wanted to say coaches 101, but it's not because nobody
- 7:36Speaker 4: does it like him.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And he can just build a fantastic script.
- 7:39Speaker 4: His play calling is, um it looks so simple and
- 7:43Speaker 4: it looks so basic and it's really hard to do
- 7:46Speaker 4: things at that level that looks simple and they're well
- 7:49Speaker 4: executed but then you're like man how are these guys
- 7:52Speaker 4: how are they giving up an angle route in the
- 7:56Speaker 4: inside the 10 yard line against the rams yeah it's
- 8:01Speaker 4: like they're doing it against the best in the the
- 8:04Speaker 4: best in the business the best who we thought was
- 8:06Speaker 4: the best roster in the entire world so it's just
- 8:10Speaker 4: incredible the things that they can get done and my
- 8:12Speaker 4: god did they look good and my god did the
- 8:14Speaker 4: Rams not look good you know it was the lowest
- 8:17Speaker 4: scoring game the Rams have had in Matthew Stafford's tenure
- 8:21Speaker 4: with the Rams and we talked.
- 8:22Speaker 2: All all season long on every show that I do
- 8:26Speaker 2: about the Rams their pass rush how they were going
- 8:29Speaker 2: to get after the quarterback and because they probably still
- 8:32Speaker 2: will but what a job by the.
- 8:34Speaker 3: 49ers you know how many sacks the Rams had I'm
- 8:37Speaker 3: going to guess zero.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Zero. Yeah. You know how many TFLs they had? One.
- 8:43Speaker 1: One.
- 8:44Speaker 2: They only hit the quarterback twice. Trent Davis, is that
- 8:47Speaker 2: who it is? Who's the left tackle? Trent Williams. Trent Williams.
- 8:51Speaker 2: My God, I saw the clips of him afterwards. Yeah.
- 8:54Speaker 2: On Miles Garrett. Yeah. He was, I mean, didn't even
- 8:58Speaker 2: sniff it. We had. I don't even think he had
- 9:00Speaker 2: a pressure.
- 9:01Speaker 3: No, we had a caller call in to move into
- 9:03Speaker 3: chains yesterday, and he was like, So do you think, like,
- 9:07Speaker 3: they're going to help with a tight end or a
- 9:09Speaker 3: back or Miles Garrett? I go, that's Trent Williams out there.
- 9:11Speaker 3: He's like, yeah, yeah, but, like, what do you think
- 9:13Speaker 3: the plan is going to be to slow him down?
- 9:15Speaker 3: I go, Trent Williams isn't going to ask for help.
- 9:19Speaker 3: He's not going to ask for a back or a
- 9:20Speaker 3: tight end. Like, he is going to go one-on-one all
- 9:24Speaker 3: night long.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, is he excited?
- 9:27Speaker 4: Did he throw a party when Miles Garrett– Went to
- 9:31Speaker 4: the NFC West?
- 9:31Speaker 2: No.
- 9:32Speaker 4: But he wasn't scared of the opportunity. I remember those
- 9:36Speaker 4: offensive linemen, like, when we were playing and we would go,
- 9:39Speaker 4: we'd have, like, the Lions or somebody, and we would play,
- 9:42Speaker 4: who was the big white dude in San Francisco at
- 9:45Speaker 4: the time? Justin Smith. We would play these big dudes,
- 9:49Speaker 4: these monsters, and, like, the linemen would just, like, you know,
- 9:53Speaker 4: therapeutically complain for the first couple days. Like, oh, my God,
- 9:55Speaker 4: I've got to play hard this week and blah, blah, blah.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Because they'd play some games and they could just, like,
- 10:00Speaker 4: kind of, because they were really good at the time.
- 10:02Speaker 2: And they're like, oh, God, I got to play hard
- 10:04Speaker 2: this week. Got this monster coming at me.
- 10:08Speaker 4: But that's kind of what the linemen, they just do.
- 10:10Speaker 4: They just complain a little bit. But that's all he did.
- 10:12Speaker 4: He was like, oh, God, I'm not excited that Miles
- 10:15Speaker 4: is here. And then I got to block him twice
- 10:16Speaker 4: a year now. Um, but I'm not scared of the
- 10:19Speaker 4: challenge and he, I'm not even gonna say stepped up
- 10:23Speaker 4: because he's.
- 10:23Speaker 2: A great left tackle, but he worked miles Garrett.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Miles Garrett said, I don't remember the exact quote he said,
- 10:31Speaker 4: cause I did not stay up for the postgame presser.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Um, but that's actually not like you. Well, I was
- 10:40Speaker 2: too busy working with technology last night. You know what
- 10:42Speaker 2: I mean? Oh, you were, it was not a big deal.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Hashtag guy in the sky. Hashtag. Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 4: But I think Miles Garrett made some sort of comment
- 10:52Speaker 4: that he played terribly or that was the worst he's
- 10:54Speaker 4: played in a long time, something like that.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Well, that was because of Trent Williams. There's a reason. Yeah,
- 10:57Speaker 2: there's a reason. There is a fella out there, and
- 10:59Speaker 2: that was the reason why.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Trent Williams plus jet lag equals you don't get close
- 11:03Speaker 4: to the quarterback.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 3: So I was actually at the U-High Madison prep game,
- 11:09Speaker 3: and so I didn't get a chance to see a
- 11:11Speaker 3: lot of it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: So I'm, like, watching highlights. I'm trying to watch, like,
- 11:13Speaker 2: on my phone. A little bit there.
- 11:15Speaker 3: So, I'm excited to go back and watch that tape
- 11:17Speaker 3: today to kind of see exactly.
- 11:19Speaker 2: What you're talking about. So, any updates? On what? No.
- 11:25Speaker 2: On what? Oh, the game? J-Bones? No, Madison Prep beat
- 11:28Speaker 2: us pretty good, though. Well, let's talk about J-Bones. 38-21.
- 11:32Speaker 2: He plays zero nose in a three-man front. What do
- 11:35Speaker 2: you think he saw all night long? A lot of
- 11:37Speaker 2: double teams. A guard and a center every single play.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Got to split them. No, there's like.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Like the way they play it, it's like you pick
- 11:47Speaker 3: a side, the linebacker fills the others.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 11:51Speaker 3: It's a garden of center every play.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah, odd man front. Good learning experiences at the
- 11:57Speaker 2: beginning of the season. Yeah, I wish the odd man
- 12:00Speaker 2: front would go the way of the white buffalo. Yeah.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Hate it. I wish.
- 12:08Speaker 4: I had so much fun watching that football game last
- 12:11Speaker 4: night because of– it's just things that make sense and down,
- 12:17Speaker 4: you know, all the love devil there's, there's things in college,
- 12:20Speaker 4: high school, obviously that, you know, that, that don't make sense.
- 12:23Speaker 2: But like that game.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Last night was just both those coaches and offensive philosophies
- 12:28Speaker 4: is just such a, like a tip of the cap
- 12:31Speaker 4: nod to everybody that's ever played football because they do
- 12:34Speaker 4: a little bit of everything.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 4: They're in the shotgun. They spread them out. They got
- 12:37Speaker 4: these shifts. They got these motions. They do these things.
- 12:40Speaker 4: That's the new age era football. But then I also
- 12:42Speaker 4: saw Brock Purdy underneath the center. With a seven-step drop
- 12:46Speaker 4: and throw a touchdown pass. Like, the drop-back pass from
- 12:50Speaker 4: under center, the straight drop-back pass from under center is
- 12:53Speaker 4: so back, baby, in the NFL.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And I hope that goes. I was about to say,
- 12:56Speaker 2: you're going to tag this NFL? Yeah, I'm going to
- 12:59Speaker 2: tag this NFL for sure.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Well, we see a seven-step drop pass in college football
- 13:02Speaker 3: this year.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I know.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I know.
- 13:04Speaker 2: And the Rams, they played offensively. That was their worst
- 13:06Speaker 2: game in years. Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 4: But it was still great to see the 13 personnel.
- 13:10Speaker 4: We know how much success they had with that. A
- 13:13Speaker 4: year ago in 13 personnel, but I saw a lot
- 13:15Speaker 4: of that. I love seeing offensives under the center. I
- 13:19Speaker 4: think hopefully, hopefully in the college football world and the
- 13:23Speaker 4: high school football world, we start to see more and
- 13:25Speaker 4: more of that at least creep its way back a
- 13:27Speaker 4: little bit.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I don't obviously never get to where it was.
- 13:30Speaker 4: And it'll probably never get to the level where the
- 13:31Speaker 4: NFL is right now from going back to underneath the
- 13:34Speaker 4: center just because it's easier reads and the types of
- 13:37Speaker 4: quarterbacks that you won in college versus you won in
- 13:39Speaker 4: the NFL and the different types of offenses and people
- 13:43Speaker 4: moving so much in college. It's easier to learn a
- 13:47Speaker 4: short and more condensed type of playbook faster in the shotgun.
- 13:52Speaker 4: So it's– I hope it does, but it's fun to
- 13:55Speaker 4: watch when you can turn your back to the quarterback,
- 13:56Speaker 4: when you can drop back like an old school quarterback
- 13:59Speaker 4: from underneath the center. It's a beautiful thing, and it
- 14:02Speaker 4: stresses the defenses a lot more. They have to have
- 14:04Speaker 4: a lot more eye control. They hesitate a little bit more,
- 14:07Speaker 4: and it's fun to watch.
- 14:10Speaker 3: It was fun to watch Fred Warner be back healthy
- 14:13Speaker 3: for the 49ers in the middle of the defense. I
- 14:15Speaker 3: think it You know, I'll kind of tie it back
- 14:19Speaker 3: to what we talked about all week with LSU and
- 14:21Speaker 3: how good their middle linebackers played. And you mentioned T.J.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Dottery a bunch of times when we did our film session.
- 14:27Speaker 3: And when you've got a guy like that in the
- 14:29Speaker 3: middle of your defense that just is roaming around, flying around,
- 14:33Speaker 3: he's everywhere, he's dropping into coverage, he's stopping the run,
- 14:37Speaker 3: he's getting after the quarterback when they ask him to.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Those guys don't get valued for whatever reason, and I
- 14:43Speaker 3: don't know why. They just don't. Like, they don't get
- 14:46Speaker 3: paid like the other guys on the defense. They don't
- 14:49Speaker 3: get paid like the edge rusher of the corner. But
- 14:51Speaker 3: when you've got one of those guys in the middle
- 14:52Speaker 3: of your defense, because he was hurt last year, the
- 14:56Speaker 3: difference that it can do, the things that it can
- 14:57Speaker 3: open up for you are endless.
- 15:03Speaker 4: The versatility that a great linebacker has is– I mean,
- 15:08Speaker 4: you saw it last night. Like we said, that defense
- 15:10Speaker 4: played so well. And, you know, on the other end,
- 15:14Speaker 4: the Rams played so poorly that, again, it's the lowest
- 15:18Speaker 4: amount of points scored for the Rams since Matthew Stafford
- 15:22Speaker 4: has been the quarterback.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Seven points.
- 15:24Speaker 4: I mean, that doesn't happen to them. They got Puka Nakua.
- 15:27Speaker 4: They got Devontae Adams. They got the reigning MVP. The
- 15:32Speaker 4: running backs actually looked pretty good yesterday. Corham ran really well.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah. But for whatever reason, the drives just kept stalling
- 15:40Speaker 2: because they got a lot of players in San Francisco.
- 15:43Speaker 2: They got a lot of really good players. Fred Warner
- 15:45Speaker 2: is a difference maker.
- 15:46Speaker 4: The things that he can do, the amount of ground
- 15:49Speaker 4: that he can cover, line up on the line of scrimmage,
- 15:52Speaker 4: and then also make a play in the secondary. He's
- 15:55Speaker 4: just all over the place flying around. And if you
- 15:59Speaker 4: want to try to compare that to what LSU has
- 16:02Speaker 4: this year, LSU's got two of those.
- 16:04Speaker 2: They got two of those guys. in the college football level.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Now we're not going to compare it to like Fred Warner,
- 16:09Speaker 2: but like at the college level, they are on that level.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Both of those guys. And we highlighted, of course, we
- 16:15Speaker 4: highlighted TJ Daugherty in our film.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Study this week. And, um, it was well deserved. And
- 16:20Speaker 2: of course we all know about wit, but we got
- 16:22Speaker 2: two of those.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Roaming around and that can fly around being a lot
- 16:25Speaker 4: of scrimmage, dropping a coverage, stick your nose in them,
- 16:29Speaker 4: drive people backwards, uh, and extremely athletic. So we're in
- 16:32Speaker 4: a good place. We are in a good spot right now. Um,
- 16:36Speaker 4: As we head into this Louisiana Tech weekend.
- 16:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 16:41Speaker 3: And we will preview the Saints, by the way, who've
- 16:43Speaker 3: got the Detroit Lions on the road.
- 16:46Speaker 2: That game's going to be on noon on Sunday.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Now the rest of the NFL slate's going to be
- 16:50Speaker 3: on Sunday. And the Saints are going to be one
- 16:52Speaker 3: of those early window games, something we will certainly break
- 16:56Speaker 3: down here today. We've got LSU, Louisiana Tech to break down.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Some of the other top games across the country. It's
- 17:04Speaker 3: Ohio State traveling to Texas to take on the Longhorns.
- 17:07Speaker 3: What could that game mean for the SEC? Of course,
- 17:10Speaker 3: we've got all of our favorite Friday games that we
- 17:13Speaker 3: like to play. A little what's the ticket, a little
- 17:14Speaker 3: pontoon parlay.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Richard Dick Dixon is supposed to stop by as well. Yes,
- 17:20Speaker 2: we've got a lot coming your way. Stay locked in here.

- 17:44Speaker 2: We're out late.
- 17:45Speaker 3: There's going to be a mess. It's going to be
- 17:47Speaker 3: weeks of work at the house. Somebody's going to have
- 17:49Speaker 3: to be there just for weeks upon end and not
- 17:52Speaker 3: be able to go about their day. That is not
- 17:53Speaker 3: the case. In as little as one singular day, They

- 18:50Speaker 1: Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 18:58Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from Rouse's.
- 19:02Speaker 3: On Burbank and Lee. We will be here, obviously, all
- 19:05Speaker 3: show long. Come hang out, come see us. And what
- 19:08Speaker 3: are you getting frustrated about over there, sir?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Technology. What about it? Chargers aren't working.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I don't know what they're doing. Laptops freezing. Wi-Fi slow.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Pet's heads are falling off.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Jeez. Oh, my God. Reminds me of
- 19:29Speaker 2: a song. Falling apart. Just barely breathing. I don't know
- 19:36Speaker 2: what song is that. I think it's Lifehouse, I think.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Early 2000s. I'll just let them sing it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: No.
- 19:46Speaker 2: You need to be sung, too, right now. Because you
- 19:48Speaker 2: are struggling. I know. That's all right. My guy, you
- 19:51Speaker 2: want to turn your microphone off? While I'm breathing heavy? Yeah,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I don't think the people want to hear the grunts
- 19:56Speaker 2: in the air. Okay, we're good. This is a tripwire,
- 20:01Speaker 2: but we're good. I thought they were listening to Big
- 20:03Speaker 2: Fave Rush the Passer there.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Zzzz! Zzzz!
- 20:07Speaker 2: Zzzz! Zzzz! All right, we are back here. It is
- 20:10Speaker 2: Football Friday.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Louisiana Tech, LSU, going to be tomorrow night in a
- 20:15Speaker 3: sold-out Tiger Stadium. And I don't feel like it's one
- 20:18Speaker 3: of those, air quote, sold-out games. I actually believe that
- 20:22Speaker 3: it's sold out. I think people are very excited about
- 20:26Speaker 3: this matchup. And then probably, you know, excited about a
- 20:31Speaker 3: lot of the things that are on, you know, the
- 20:33Speaker 3: outside kind of being settled.
- 20:36Speaker 2: That's kind of going away finally.
- 20:38Speaker 3: It's not going to be on the news every single
- 20:40Speaker 3: time you turn it on, and it's not going to
- 20:42Speaker 3: be on our station three hours of shows talking about
- 20:45Speaker 3: that situation. Like, as of right now, I mean, that's
- 20:51Speaker 3: to the side.
- 20:52Speaker 2: It's focused on football.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Now the football team has been focused on football this
- 20:56Speaker 3: entire time.
- 20:57Speaker 2: How do I know? I watched last weekend's game. That's
- 21:00Speaker 2: how I know.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Being in the building, those guys aren't talking about what
- 21:05Speaker 3: everybody else is talking about. But to have that put
- 21:08Speaker 3: to rest, it can't be a bad thing.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I mean, no, of course not. I think, you know,
- 21:17Speaker 2: it's funny, too.
- 21:17Speaker 4: It's like a double-edged sword because I feel like, you know,
- 21:20Speaker 4: sports is the greatest reality television of all time. So
- 21:24Speaker 4: I think it is. When it's just about the football,
- 21:28Speaker 4: it's awesome because you get to focus in. You get
- 21:30Speaker 4: to talk about the team. But with the other outside noise,
- 21:34Speaker 4: I mean.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I don't know. People kind of enjoy yelling, too, right?
- 21:39Speaker 4: People enjoy getting upset and emotional and mad at something.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Everyone coming together to be mad at one singular thing,
- 21:46Speaker 4: even though it is annoying and we were so ready
- 21:48Speaker 4: to get away from that.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I mean, it is kind of fun from a reality
- 21:52Speaker 2: television standpoint just to get upset.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Reality TV, let's just go to The Bachelor. It's fun
- 21:59Speaker 4: when there's drama, right? So it's kind of fun to
- 22:01Speaker 4: get galvanized as a fan base. Be Jon Snow. In
- 22:07Speaker 4: the Battle of the Bastards, you know, it's fun to
- 22:09Speaker 4: do that. No doubt that's who LSU is.
- 22:11Speaker 3: And to your point, there is something about that that
- 22:16Speaker 3: when it is all against you, if you have the
- 22:18Speaker 3: right leader, which it certainly feels like LSU does as
- 22:21Speaker 3: their head coach, you can galvanize the fellows around that.
- 22:25Speaker 2: But it has to be authentic. Yeah. Like it can't
- 22:28Speaker 2: be fake. Yeah. And so that's why like when the.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Halftime speech drops and a lot of people are like,
- 22:32Speaker 3: I didn't know Lane Kiffin had that in his bag.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Well, that felt authentic. Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 3: It felt like he had the ear of his entire team.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We've never really heard a side of Lane.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Kiffin like that. We didn't see it. It was just
- 22:45Speaker 2: somebody's foot. Except for that one rat. We heard it.
- 22:49Speaker 2: We didn't see it.
- 22:51Speaker 3: That's what that team was. That team was galvanized around
- 22:55Speaker 3: the fact that nobody likes them. Nobody wants them to succeed.
- 22:58Speaker 3: That part didn't go away. That part's going to be there.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I think just the oh, they're going to get kicked
- 23:04Speaker 2: out of the SEC or they're going to get sanctions
- 23:06Speaker 2: and all those things.
- 23:07Speaker 4: But that brought everybody together even more so. Like even
- 23:11Speaker 4: people that were on the fence that were, like people
- 23:13Speaker 4: like myself, they're like questioning, oh, should we be doing this?
- 23:16Speaker 4: Like it's still not like I want to protect the
- 23:19Speaker 4: longevity of college football and like where does this lead to?
- 23:22Speaker 4: Like what windows does this open up in the future?
- 23:24Speaker 4: Like I was probably like one of the biggest people like, hey,
- 23:28Speaker 4: we need to pump the brakes.
- 23:29Speaker 2: We don't need to do this or that, blah, blah, blah. But, like,
- 23:32Speaker 2: even people like me and myself.
- 23:33Speaker 4: And even more so against it, that whole situation said,
- 23:39Speaker 4: all right, well, screw you guys.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Like, I'm all in. Now, like, it brought everybody together.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Like, everybody is on the same page and behind Lane
- 23:46Speaker 4: and whatever and every decision.
- 23:48Speaker 2: So, it's just like, whatever. They're going to try to
- 23:49Speaker 2: come after us. Whatever you do, Lane. Yeah, we're good. Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 2: we're good now.
- 23:56Speaker 4: You know, let's move forward and brought everybody together in
- 23:59Speaker 4: that situation and probably even more so within that locker room.
- 24:03Speaker 4: And it's such great motivation for Lane. It's so easy
- 24:09Speaker 4: to keep his team motivated in this. And it's hard.
- 24:12Speaker 4: We've talked about this. This is a tough week to
- 24:16Speaker 4: get motivated for. This was like the biggest test for
- 24:19Speaker 4: me at the beginning of the season on how Lane
- 24:21Speaker 4: can handle his team. You come off your opener, it's
- 24:25Speaker 4: a week before the Ole Miss game, and it's sandwiched
- 24:27Speaker 4: in between those.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Is Louisiana Tech. How do you get your team ready
- 24:31Speaker 2: for that? And coaches always look for bulletin board material
- 24:35Speaker 2: to help motivate.
- 24:36Speaker 4: There's only so many words a coach can say. There's
- 24:39Speaker 4: only so much a coach can push. At some point,
- 24:43Speaker 4: it takes some other outside.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Stuff to be like, all right, let's, you know, to
- 24:47Speaker 2: give you extra motivation. Because you can do this all. Usually,
- 24:51Speaker 2: in these types of weeks, Louisiana Tech, like these directional schools,
- 24:54Speaker 2: like these smaller schools, No disrespect. It just is what
- 24:58Speaker 2: it is. It's a different level of football played every
- 25:01Speaker 2: single week. Can they beat you? Yeah, of course. It
- 25:04Speaker 2: could happen. We see it happen once every couple of
- 25:07Speaker 2: years with different big teams. Could it happen? Yes. But
- 25:09Speaker 2: should it happen? No.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Because they're at different levels. So during the schedule of
- 25:14Speaker 4: the week, you could do the exact.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Same thing you did the week before. You could go
- 25:17Speaker 2: to the.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Same amount of film work, eat the same food, work
- 25:21Speaker 4: out the same amount, do the same weight on bench
- 25:23Speaker 4: press this week that you did last week. You could
- 25:26Speaker 4: do everything the same, but you still don't get out
- 25:29Speaker 4: of it as much as you did the week before.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Even though you're trying, you're trying, you're trying. Your brain
- 25:33Speaker 4: says yes. Your brain says yes.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Do this. Focus. Blah, blah, blah. But there's something. There's
- 25:38Speaker 2: a feeling. There's a something else that doesn't motivate you
- 25:41Speaker 2: a little bit more to keep that attention for that
- 25:44Speaker 2: extra five minutes, to keep that attention, to make you
- 25:47Speaker 2: push a little bit harder. It's subconscious. And that's a feeling.
- 25:50Speaker 2: That's a motivational thing. We all feel it in life.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Sometimes you're motivated at work. Sometimes you're not.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:56Speaker 2: And we all feel that.
- 25:58Speaker 4: So the coaches are always trying to motivate to get
- 26:00Speaker 4: that extra to where not only where your mind's telling
- 26:03Speaker 4: you to do something, but your heart's telling you as well.
- 26:05Speaker 4: And that job has been made easy because of the
- 26:08Speaker 4: outside noise. And so we've got to thank Greg Sankey
- 26:10Speaker 4: for that.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Thank you. Yeah, sure. And last year you played this team,
- 26:17Speaker 2: and it was ugly.
- 26:18Speaker 3: It was clunky. It was, I think, 23-7. It was
- 26:21Speaker 3: just not a great football game. And so you have
- 26:23Speaker 3: that as added motivation as well. But with what they
- 26:27Speaker 3: have coming down the line here, I mean, they should
- 26:29Speaker 3: know that keeping this positive momentum is going to be
- 26:33Speaker 3: something that would.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Obviously be very fruitful for the.
- 26:37Speaker 3: LSU football team as you've got Ole Miss and you've
- 26:40Speaker 3: got Texas A & M right down the road.
- 26:42Speaker 2: And so you don't want to lose what you had
- 26:44Speaker 2: a week ago.
- 26:45Speaker 3: But to your point, you do try to do everything
- 26:48Speaker 3: that you did for the Clemson week, and sometimes you
- 26:50Speaker 3: think you are, but you're really– Really not, but all
- 26:53Speaker 3: the things going on right now with people having a
- 26:56Speaker 3: lot to say about LSU, I think you do those things.
- 26:59Speaker 3: That was a defense that played pissed off last weekend,
- 27:04Speaker 3: and we talked about it. Coaches will find ways. Veteran
- 27:10Speaker 3: leader players can find ways to motivate the young guys.
- 27:14Speaker 3: It is absolutely ludicrous that Coach Saban used what he
- 27:18Speaker 3: did with us against Florida in 2004. you should be
- 27:22Speaker 3: pissed off that they opened the gate to the stadium.
- 27:25Speaker 3: That was his motivation that week.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I can't believe it. We've talked about it three times
- 27:29Speaker 2: this week, but it's still like it was factual.
- 27:31Speaker 3: He's like, I cannot believe it. If they open that
- 27:33Speaker 3: gate and you're not disrespected, why are you even here?
- 27:36Speaker 3: And I'm like, yeah, why'd they open the gate? They're
- 27:39Speaker 3: going to show up and play this game? I'm not
- 27:40Speaker 3: thinking that it's an SEC game. They have to open
- 27:42Speaker 3: the gate.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Coach, what do you mean? But he sold it. That'd
- 27:45Speaker 2: be a lot of money they'd have to refund back.
- 27:47Speaker 3: It would be, but he sold it, and we all
- 27:49Speaker 3: believed it. He's like, you should be so disrespected. Ron
- 27:53Speaker 3: Zook thinks his team's going to come in. Ron Zook.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Why is this little guy so mad right now?
- 28:01Speaker 2: I feel like he should want to coach this game, right?
- 28:04Speaker 2: I don't know what Ron Zook did to him. He's like,
- 28:05Speaker 2: Ron Zook. Yeah, coach. He opened the gate to the swamp.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Are you serious? But if you sell it.
- 28:14Speaker 3: And your team has that belief in you, that trust
- 28:17Speaker 3: in you, then they're going to do it.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And Lane's got that. Yeah. Like you saw that in
- 28:22Speaker 2: the locker room last weekend. It's all about strain, right?
- 28:25Speaker 2: I use that word with my kids a lot when
- 28:27Speaker 2: they're playing sports, and strain. You have to strain. Like,
- 28:32Speaker 2: what does that mean?
- 28:33Speaker 4: That means you use every fiber in you to go
- 28:36Speaker 4: make a play, to go do something. So you saw
- 28:38Speaker 4: that from the defense. You saw Ty Benefield from the
- 28:41Speaker 4: secondary strain to make a play on the edge.
- 28:44Speaker 2: You saw the defense alignment fighting. And what does that
- 28:46Speaker 2: strain like?
- 28:46Speaker 4: How do you explain strain? You use every fiber in you. Like,
- 28:49Speaker 4: when you're running and you're tackling, there's a muscle in
- 28:52Speaker 4: your pinky toe that you hadn't felt work in years, right?
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Like you are straining every fiber of your being. And
- 28:58Speaker 4: that is the motivation part of it. Yeah, you're going
- 29:01Speaker 4: to fly around. And guess what it's like? You might
- 29:03Speaker 4: run as fast as you can. But there's something. Everybody
- 29:06Speaker 4: understands that strain word. Like what is that? Sometimes you do.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Sometimes you don't. Sometimes that little extra that comes from
- 29:14Speaker 4: the subconscious that's not just like, all right, I had
- 29:17Speaker 4: to convince myself to run fast right there.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Because I had to, because it's a game, blah, blah, blah.
- 29:21Speaker 4: So that motivation is going to show itself this week.
- 29:25Speaker 4: And all this stuff going on, I know LSU fans
- 29:28Speaker 4: were ticked off about all this stuff happening with Sankey
- 29:31Speaker 4: and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Are we going to
- 29:33Speaker 4: get kicked out? Is there going to be a vote?
- 29:34Speaker 4: But I can tell you Louisiana Tech probably wasn't any
- 29:37Speaker 4: happier than LSU fans were because they probably knew. I mean,
- 29:40Speaker 4: this is a little bit different.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I think their coach went on with Matt, right? Yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 2: he's like, yeah, this looks a little different than last year. Well,
- 29:49Speaker 2: damn right it does because that defense looked amazing. Yeah,
- 29:51Speaker 2: and they ran a power. Six times. Seven. Seven? Seven. Whoa.
- 29:59Speaker 2: I might have thanked our head coach for running one.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Thank you, coach. I really did. Did you kiss the
- 30:06Speaker 2: back of his hand? No, I didn't do that. But
- 30:09Speaker 2: I was like, thank you.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Because that's what LSU football does.
- 30:14Speaker 2: We didn't go a series without running a power. It
- 30:16Speaker 2: was weird. They were like, there was this one time
- 30:18Speaker 2: they ran inside zone. And then, like, there was this
- 30:20Speaker 2: other time, outside zone. I know. And then another time
- 30:25Speaker 2: they pulled a guard and ran in the A gap?
- 30:27Speaker 2: I know. It's weird. It's weird. That's weird. And then
- 30:29Speaker 2: another time they had two double teams up to the linebacker.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Did you just invent those plays? No. No.
- 30:36Speaker 3: There's somebody that was in the booth last year that
- 30:39Speaker 3: probably thinks they did.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Yeah. No. Coach, we did that under Coach Atwood in
- 30:45Speaker 2: seventh grade Hubbard Middle School.
- 30:48Speaker 3: We did that with Joey Hester in six-year-old Sunset Acre
- 30:52Speaker 3: Indian football.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, many Christmas. But we don't have the guards,
- 30:57Speaker 2: we don't think, to do that.
- 30:58Speaker 3: What?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, okay. Don't tell me you don't have the
- 31:01Speaker 2: guards to run power at LSU. Those guards are a
- 31:04Speaker 2: lot different this year. Anyways, let's don't do that. Let's go.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I don't want to get mad at what we had
- 31:10Speaker 2: to watch last year. All right, we will take a break.
- 31:14Speaker 2: When we come back, we'll continue on down the road.
- 31:16Speaker 2: A little football Friday here. Again, the New Orleans Saints
- 31:20Speaker 2: traveling up to the Motor City to take on the
- 31:22Speaker 2: Detroit Lions, one of the bigger... in the NFL this week.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Only two other games have a bigger line than Saints-Lions.
- 31:32Speaker 3: How did the Saints win the game? How did they
- 31:33Speaker 3: pull off the upset? We'll tell you when we come
- 31:36Speaker 3: back here on OTB.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 31:43Speaker 3: All right, go to RussellPools.com, the website for Russell Poole Company.
- 31:48Speaker 3: They've been in the game since the 1960s, right?
- 31:52Speaker 2: And South Louisiana has harsh weather. We know that. We
- 31:54Speaker 2: talk about it all the time.
- 31:56Speaker 3: And so you want a company that understands that harsh
- 31:59Speaker 3: weather and conditions. And when they build a pool, they
- 32:01Speaker 3: build it to last here in these conditions. And that's
- 32:04Speaker 3: how you stay in business and thrive as long as
- 32:06Speaker 3: Russell Pool Company has. Go to the website today, get
- 32:09Speaker 3: everything started, RussellPools.com.
- 32:11Speaker 4: That's right, RussellPools, RussellPools.com. Chris Sanderson and the team over
- 32:16Speaker 4: there at Russell Pools. They've been doing it a long time.
- 32:18Speaker 4: They do it at an expert level. They are the
- 32:19Speaker 4: name you should think of when you're thinking about a
- 32:22Speaker 4: custom pool. And it's not just brand-new pools either. It's
- 32:25Speaker 4: also renovations. Not just any company can handle a pool renovation.
- 32:29Speaker 4: A lot of people buy a house, there's already a
- 32:30Speaker 4: pool there. It's a little outdated. Maybe there's a crack
- 32:32Speaker 4: in it. Whatever it is, they can update it. They
- 32:35Speaker 4: can upgrade it and make it like new. And they
- 32:38Speaker 4: are the experts. Two landscape architects right on staff over there.
- 32:41Speaker 2: So go check them out. Russell Pools, russellpools.com.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Now here you go again, you say you want your freedom. Well,
- 33:07Speaker 5: who am I to keep you down?
- 33:12Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves, it's Off the
- 33:15Speaker 1: Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 33:17Speaker 2: It's Off the Bench.
- 33:32Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTV here live from Rouse's
- 33:36Speaker 3: on a football Friday. Jake Flynn and Cassie here at Rouse's.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Alondra and Tay-Tay back in studio. New Orleans Saints traveling
- 33:49Speaker 3: to Detroit to take on the Lions. ESPN matchup predictor
- 33:54Speaker 3: gives the Lions a 73.6% chance to win said matchup.
- 34:00Speaker 2: That's all right. The odds aren't great. Oh, that's all right.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I've lost bets that I've placed that I had a
- 34:06Speaker 2: 99% chance of winning. That's fair. Plenty of them. All right.
- 34:09Speaker 2: One very, very big one. No. Do tell. No, no.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I don't need to. You don't need to? Don't need
- 34:18Speaker 2: to bring that back up. I'd comment it. Ooh. Mm-hmm.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Just one, though, right? Yeah, just one. Just one. Just one.
- 34:28Speaker 3: All right, so right now, as we've told you all
- 34:31Speaker 3: week long, the Saints are one of the bigger underdogs
- 34:34Speaker 3: in the NFL.
- 34:35Speaker 2: They still are a seven-point dog.
- 34:37Speaker 3: The only teams that are bigger underdogs, the Browns against Jacksonville,
- 34:41Speaker 3: eight and a half is the line there, and then
- 34:44Speaker 3: the Cardinals against the Chargers where the line is nine
- 34:47Speaker 3: and a half. So there's not a lot of people
- 34:49Speaker 3: that give the New Orleans Saints an opportunity.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Now, some of that is because they.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Don't believe in the Saints maybe a little bit, But
- 34:56Speaker 3: I think a lot of that has to do with
- 34:57Speaker 3: the belief they have in the Detroit Lions. The Lions
- 35:00Speaker 3: last year had a season that was disappointing to their standard.
- 35:04Speaker 2: They only won nine games.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Now they had a winning record, but that was a
- 35:07Speaker 3: team that was expected to make a run to the
- 35:09Speaker 3: Super Bowl. Now for the Detroit Lions, who are they?
- 35:13Speaker 3: What did they do in the all season? What's going
- 35:16Speaker 3: to be a little bit different for them? Because we
- 35:19Speaker 3: know like offensively they are really, really good. But I
- 35:22Speaker 3: will say that the backfield is going to look different.
- 35:25Speaker 3: There's no Montgomery. Pacheco, who you signed, he's on the IR.
- 35:28Speaker 3: So you have Jameer Gibbs. And the Lions have done
- 35:32Speaker 3: really well with a one-two punch. I don't think they
- 35:34Speaker 3: have a one-two punch here in this game since Pacheco
- 35:38Speaker 3: is on the IR. It's still going to have Laporta
- 35:41Speaker 3: at tight end. It's still going to have St. Brown
- 35:44Speaker 3: and Williams at receiver. Tesla as well. They've got, you know,
- 35:48Speaker 3: Panay Sewell's moving over to left tackle from right tackle.
- 35:50Speaker 3: It's a very stacked offense. Where you can make your hay,
- 35:55Speaker 3: I feel like, against the Lions is going to be
- 35:57Speaker 3: on the other side of the football. They are beat
- 36:00Speaker 3: to all hell in the defensive backfield. They're missing their
- 36:03Speaker 3: starting safeties. Terry and Arnold's no longer on this team
- 36:06Speaker 3: after getting in trouble in the offseason. They've got some
- 36:10Speaker 3: spots where I think Tyler Shuck, Chris Alave, Vele, they
- 36:14Speaker 3: can take advantage of.
- 36:16Speaker 2: It might be a little bit of a track meet.
- 36:18Speaker 2: It really might.
- 36:19Speaker 3: It might turn into a game like that. And so,
- 36:22Speaker 3: you know, take a look at the point spread. Take
- 36:23Speaker 3: a look at the total number in this game.
- 36:26Speaker 2: It's 49 and a half. It's 49 and a half.
- 36:30Speaker 2: It's a big number.
- 36:30Speaker 3: It's a big number in the NFL. So that's what
- 36:33Speaker 3: I think Vegas is expecting as well. So you potentially
- 36:37Speaker 3: could see a chance for Tyler Shuck to go toe-to-toe
- 36:41Speaker 3: with a guy in Jared Goff, who over the last
- 36:43Speaker 3: three years has the most touchdowns, the most yards and
- 36:46Speaker 3: tied for the most wins in the NFL and second
- 36:48Speaker 3: in quarterback rating.
- 36:49Speaker 4: That's a big number over under number to still have
- 36:52Speaker 4: the spread at seven, right?
- 36:55Speaker 2: That's true.
- 36:55Speaker 4: That's, that's a, I mean, that's a big number. Um,
- 37:00Speaker 4: the lions are going to be really good this year.
- 37:02Speaker 4: They're going to be very, they're, they're going to be
- 37:04Speaker 4: improved from a year ago. Uh, the last year was
- 37:07Speaker 4: a very disappointing season for them, but offensively they were
- 37:11Speaker 4: still really good. Like we, like, We all believe in
- 37:14Speaker 4: the Wolfpack that Jared Goff is going to have.
- 37:17Speaker 2: A hell of a year. I think, was it you
- 37:20Speaker 2: or Taylor that predicted him as an MVP pick? Yeah, Taylor.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Yeah, Taylor, MVP pick for this year. I mean, that's–
- 37:27Speaker 4: and it's a very realistic pick. Like, I kept trying
- 37:30Speaker 4: last year to keep him out of the top five
- 37:32Speaker 4: of my quarterback rankings every single year or.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Every single week. He did absolutely nothing.
- 37:37Speaker 4: He's just not the sexy pick when you pick up, like,
- 37:39Speaker 4: the top quarterbacks in the league. But you look at
- 37:41Speaker 4: the stats every single week, And he's at the top
- 37:43Speaker 4: of QBR completion percentage, touchdowns, yards, ink blank, everything. He's
- 37:49Speaker 4: always towards the top. You look at all the grades
- 37:51Speaker 4: from the quarterbacks, uh, this past year, he's at least
- 37:55Speaker 4: in the top seven or eight in every category. In
- 37:58Speaker 4: most categories, he's top three or four.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Um, so what he does, he's a really good player
- 38:04Speaker 4: and a really good offense. Like, like I think last
- 38:06Speaker 4: year they missed Ben Johnson a little bit, but they
- 38:08Speaker 4: still were able to execute pretty frequently at a high
- 38:11Speaker 4: clip last year. Um, This is a game that is
- 38:15Speaker 4: going to show us pretty early in the season what
- 38:19Speaker 4: kind of leap Kellen Moore is going to take from
- 38:23Speaker 4: year one to two as a head coach, what kind
- 38:25Speaker 4: of leap Tyler Shuck's going to take from year one
- 38:26Speaker 4: to two as a quarterback, because as we've talked about
- 38:29Speaker 4: and as we know, that is the opportunity for the
- 38:33Speaker 4: biggest jump in a quarterback career, so year one to two.
- 38:37Speaker 2: He has done everything right.
- 38:39Speaker 4: He played awesome towards the end of the season last
- 38:41Speaker 4: year with Uber drivers at wide receiver.
- 38:44Speaker 2: And plumbers. Yes, and plumbers. Uber drivers and plumbers. Yes.
- 38:48Speaker 4: He's done everything right in the offseason. He's done everything
- 38:52Speaker 4: right with the fan base, within the community. He has
- 38:54Speaker 4: done everything the right way, and everybody is behind Tyler Sheck.
- 38:59Speaker 4: This is going to be an opportunity. You're playing inside
- 39:02Speaker 4: against one of what we think is going to be
- 39:04Speaker 4: the top teams in the NFC.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Yeah. But you're playing them without their starting two safeties.
- 39:10Speaker 2: You're playing them with a little bit of injury concern.
- 39:12Speaker 2: You're playing them inside on a fast track. We're going
- 39:15Speaker 2: to get a really good inside peek at to what
- 39:19Speaker 2: that improvement is. How was training camp really for that offense?
- 39:23Speaker 4: Because we saw you were at training camp for their
- 39:26Speaker 4: practice against the Jaguars where they dominated.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Yeah. We haven't. seen Tyler Shuck play. Okay? Unless you
- 39:33Speaker 2: went to practice, unless you've seen clips, you haven't seen
- 39:35Speaker 2: Tyler Shuck play. No, you haven't seen him put a
- 39:38Speaker 2: shoulder pad on. Yes, he put one shoulder pad on.
- 39:41Speaker 4: So we are going to get an opportunity to see
- 39:43Speaker 4: what kind of jumps and what we can expect for
- 39:45Speaker 4: the rest of the season. What a great opportunity. playing
- 39:48Speaker 4: inside in an adverse environment, a fast field against a team,
- 39:53Speaker 4: really good team.
- 39:53Speaker 2: It is a fast field.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Really good team that has their starting two safeties out.
- 39:57Speaker 4: So I hope we attack the middle of the field
- 40:00Speaker 4: early and attack the middle of the field often.
- 40:02Speaker 2: And if you're listening to us saying, hey, I know
- 40:04Speaker 2: these guys have CTE. What do they mean? It's a
- 40:07Speaker 2: fast field. Every field is the same. It's not.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Certainly when it comes to artificial turf like this, Some
- 40:13Speaker 3: are soft.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Some are firm. Some are, you know, have the right
- 40:17Speaker 2: amount of rubber pellets in there. Some don't. Whatever it is.
- 40:20Speaker 3: This one, every time I've played there and every time
- 40:23Speaker 3: I've covered a game there, it is a fast surface.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, just go around. Ford Field. Ford Field.
- 40:29Speaker 2: That's at least what it used to be called. Ford Field.
- 40:31Speaker 2: That sucks playing there. That place sucks. It is a–
- 40:35Speaker 2: it's a warehouse.
- 40:36Speaker 4: I started a game there on Thanksgiving Day. Started a
- 40:39Speaker 4: game there on Thanksgiving Day, and I got my butt whipped.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Good Lord. They were just– and then I was like, man,
- 40:45Speaker 2: I'm going to stink. And then, like, the next year,
- 40:47Speaker 2: like the year before that, I mean, we go there
- 40:49Speaker 2: and didn't do much better with Aaron at quarterback. So
- 40:52Speaker 2: it's like, all right, it's just a tough place for
- 40:54Speaker 2: us to play. Yeah, we got beat pretty good too.
- 40:56Speaker 2: And when they weren't very good, Megatron just continued to catch, like,
- 41:01Speaker 2: And Dominick is always, like, stomping on our real offensive linemen. Yeah.
- 41:05Speaker 2: You say Aaron? Has Aaron been in the news lately? No,
- 41:08Speaker 2: I don't think so. I haven't heard from him. No,
- 41:10Speaker 2: I hadn't heard from him. He does this speaking on
- 41:12Speaker 2: the field. Oh, okay. That was– I enjoyed it. That
- 41:16Speaker 2: was awesome. He's great. Like– He didn't hold back. He
- 41:20Speaker 2: didn't hold back, but, I mean, it's relatable, right? I mean,
- 41:23Speaker 2: he talks to people like a real– Like a real human.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Like a real human. Yeah. So that was great. We
- 41:29Speaker 2: can talk about that a little bit more.
- 41:31Speaker 5: All right.
- 41:31Speaker 2: We'll take a break.
- 41:32Speaker 3: We've got more OTB coming to you live from Rouse's
- 41:35Speaker 3: here on Burbank and Lee.

- 41:51Speaker 3: They're not just in Baton Rouge driving back and forth
- 41:53Speaker 3: on the basin to Lafayette or vice versa. They are
- 41:56Speaker 3: in the local communities to run with Rufus. They do
- 41:59Speaker 3: every single year. The Mother's Day Roof Giveaway, the Veterans
- 42:01Speaker 3: Day Roof Giveaway. They're always in the local communities there.
- 42:05Speaker 3: But you know what they are in the roofing game.
- 42:07Speaker 3: They are five stars all across the board. Over 600
- 42:10Speaker 3: five-star reviews. Those come into the website organically.
- 42:13Speaker 2: They're not cherry-picked. Go to pelicanroof.com.
- 42:15Speaker 4: If there was an option on the Internet to give
- 42:17Speaker 4: them five-star plus... Don't you think they would do that?
- 42:20Speaker 2: They would be Jordan Seaton.
- 42:21Speaker 4: We talked about it. 600 five-star reviews. That's 3,000 total
- 42:23Speaker 4: stars over there. Pelican Roof, the best roofing company in Louisiana.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Lafayette, Baton Rouge, the best. So give them a call.
- 42:30Speaker 4: They can come out and take a look at your

- 42:34Speaker 2: Go to pelicanroof.com.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers. This is Off the Bench.
- 42:48Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in. OTB here. You know you
- 42:53Speaker 2: have to turn it off, right? Yep. Did you know
- 42:56Speaker 2: that that was the applause? No. You know what this
- 42:59Speaker 2: one is? Nope. This is my favorite one. That's only
- 43:09Speaker 2: during spooky season, though. Oh, yeah. We're... We're kind of
- 43:12Speaker 2: getting close. Okay.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Or you can be like, hey, what's Louisiana Tech feeling
- 43:16Speaker 3: coming up here tomorrow when they see LSU take the field?
- 43:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Real spooky. Yep. Getting close to Robot Flynn season
- 43:26Speaker 2: for sure. We are. We are getting there. I mean,
- 43:28Speaker 2: we are just days away basically. I'm excited. You should be.
- 43:33Speaker 2: That's like, that is late October, early November. That's the
- 43:39Speaker 2: sweet spot.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I can't wait. You can smell it. Has the weather
- 43:43Speaker 2: started to turn? Nope. Not yet. Nope. It probably won't
- 43:48Speaker 2: turn then either. But it's okay. Oh, wait a second.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Happy birthday, Taylor.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I was going to actually save that for like the
- 43:56Speaker 3: top of the next hour. It always feels weird when
- 43:58Speaker 3: you do it like, you know, in the middle of
- 44:02Speaker 3: a segment.
- 44:02Speaker 2: I don't know. The back end. I didn't want Taylor
- 44:05Speaker 2: to think, hey, we're fitting Taylor in at 753.57, you
- 44:07Speaker 2: know what I mean? Yeah, but no, we fit him
- 44:09Speaker 2: in right for the sound effects, so it's more special.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Happy birthday, Taylor. Happy 30th birthday, Taylor.
- 44:15Speaker 4: I was hoping that you guys were going to forget
- 44:19Speaker 4: because I could make you feel bad about it, but
- 44:21Speaker 4: thank you anyways.
- 44:21Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Buddy, we're not forgetting your birthday. It's
- 44:25Speaker 2: September 11th. Well, we told you happy early birthday yesterday, too. Yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 2: we did. So we kind of saved ourselves a little bit.
- 44:32Speaker 2: So that's right. Just us over here. Just remember it.
- 44:38Speaker 2: It's tough to do for us. It is.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Jordan in the chat. Just started from the beginning of
- 44:42Speaker 3: the show. Jake's a big old grumpy gills, eh?
- 44:45Speaker 2: What are you grumpy for? He did walk in a
- 44:48Speaker 2: little grumpy. I couldn't get in. I couldn't get in.
- 44:50Speaker 3: I had to watch my son's team get beat up
- 44:53Speaker 3: on last night. There was a referee down the sideline
- 44:56Speaker 3: who was horrible. He thought everybody was there to see him.
- 44:59Speaker 3: It's not the reason we lost. We got beat pretty good.
- 45:01Speaker 3: He was thinking everybody was there to see him. Nobody
- 45:04Speaker 3: was there to see him. He's trying to yell and argue.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Didn't make a single call all night until it was
- 45:09Speaker 3: like third and forever on a pass interference against us.
- 45:13Speaker 3: The only call the guy made all night. Guy thinks
- 45:15Speaker 3: he's real cool.
- 45:16Speaker 2: He sucks. Yeah. Anyways. You know who you are.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Older, polite gentleman on the sideline. You were on the
- 45:24Speaker 3: UI sideline in the first half. Let's be very specific
- 45:27Speaker 3: about this.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Jeff. His name's no doubt Jim. My name's Jeff. He's
- 45:33Speaker 2: a Jeff or a Jim. Yeah. No doubt. Yeah. You
- 45:37Speaker 2: know who you are.
- 45:38Speaker 4: You should be ashamed of yourself. You should go to
- 45:41Speaker 4: referee school, pal. It's not about you.
- 45:44Speaker 2: It's not. He was like a baseball umpire. Anyways. You
- 45:50Speaker 2: want to do this for a second ever? Maybe even
- 45:53Speaker 2: a third. More OTB live from Ross's. Off the Bench.
- 45:59Speaker 3: All right, go see our friends over at Ochsner. So
- 46:01Speaker 3: many different things that, you know, that they can help
- 46:04Speaker 3: you out with. Now, one of the things that we
- 46:06Speaker 3: do talk about often because we're right down the road
- 46:09Speaker 3: is the full orthopedic clinic they've got on the campus
- 46:12Speaker 3: of Elite Training Academy.
- 46:13Speaker 2: It is right there to the left of the indoor.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Walk-ins are welcome.
- 46:16Speaker 3: So speaking of like high school football, you have a
- 46:19Speaker 3: game last night, you know, you get banged up, you
- 46:21Speaker 3: get nicked up, you got one tonight, whatever it might be,
- 46:24Speaker 3: you can go see them, right? Full orthopedic clinic so
- 46:28Speaker 3: they can treat those injuries. They can even treat an
- 46:30Speaker 3: ACL injury. We've talked about that over the last couple
- 46:33Speaker 3: of weeks as well. Go to Ochsner.org for more information.
- 46:36Speaker 3: That's Ochsner.org.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've been dealing with some back pain recently.
- 46:39Speaker 2: And Ochsner wants you around.
- 46:40Speaker 4: Like, if you've dealt with back, spine pain, it can
- 46:43Speaker 4: affect everything that you do. So make sure you go
- 46:45Speaker 4: to your nearest Ochsner Health Center and get that checked up.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Get a fix up at the professionals over there. Learn more.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Schedule an appointment over there at Ochsner.org. That's Ochsner.org.
