- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever's resonating with you, not what you've seen online, follow that intuition of yours and just run with it.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Go with it.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Don't make it complicating.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, start with a ten minute yoga flow if yoga feels called to you, maybe it's Pilates.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Just start.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also Logan, Ply's instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: My friends, action brings clarity.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, be it babe.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right, today's conversation is such a lovely window in taking a long journey and things not happening fast, but still happening for you.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: We have a really great guest today and he was making fair all she is, the host of the Bouncer Life podcast.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I really love all the different topics we talked about in today's episode.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about being a new mom, but we also talked about the basics of meditation and how to get started with that.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: kind of not knowing what to do or what to do with their time and what to be to having this really beautiful life that's built around all the things that they like and that make them feel like them.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm really excited for you to hear this journey.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's authentic and it's not perfect and it's exactly what we need to be doing and we think about like what do we want in our lives.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: So here is Megan Ferrell.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: All right, be a babe.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited because I've already had a wonderful conversation with our guest today, and I was like, Oh, I really want to keep this conversation going.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: And we are over here on my podcast, though, the host of Bouncer Life podcast with Megan Feral is our guest today.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: Megan Feral, you're tough on who you are and what you rock at.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, amazing.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the intro.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I should have you doing all of my intro calls there.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: My name is Megan Farrell.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: I am the creator and kind of the leading force behind balance by Megan.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's an online brand podcast.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: I do all the things that's just really meant to help you inspire, be inspired, be empowered to begin and maintain your own wellness journey so you can be the best version of yourself.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: I have a top Canadian podcast which I'm very proud of.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do normally I do yoga retreats, I do workshops, I'm taking a little bit of a hiatus just while I raise my, my little kid over here, but that's really kind of my jam, my jelly and jam that I do.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man, that's so fun.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but I have to, I'm, so I wonder, like, was your life always balanced?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like, did you, like, how did you, like,
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it was, it was, it was a wellness journey like always easy for you.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's like something that just came easier as it did to come because like, like, like, a things in your life that you needed to find it.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: I would love to hear how you kind of got into this.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: What's like, I always say when people ask me this, I'm like, how much time do you actually have this podcast?
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Because balance was like the least, it was like not a vocabulary, word in my vocabulary.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: I wellness like kind of a joke.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: I always think it's too like it's ironic that I teach these things because I was that girl who lived on chicken fingers and fries.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Corn was like my vegetable of choice and like you were lucky if you got some carrots into me.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: Greens were just not happening but I was diagnosed really really young with obsessive compulsive disorder and depression and anxiety.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: I had also been in out of the hospital since the day I was born with asthma like just it was not uncommon for me to be hospitalized once a month with like severe asthma tax where I was on prednisone all the time puffers all the time it was just part of my life and there was a catalyst in my life where I.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'd also been like sexually abused by my uncle.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: This is like taking a dark turn and always like to me.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: You're such a light and like so vibrant.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is good.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: Real dark real dark.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I actually, if I'm fine with this, can't you go with that path?
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: Because I actually think that it would be a shame to us for us to just like,
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: paint the picture that was so easy for you and I just want to say thank you for already sharing like the OCD and the Depression and the anxiety because I actually think a lot of people who listen to have one of those things and it's held them back in some way.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: So thank you and it's okay well we'll go I'm sure we'll get light again so
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's one of those things that I think for me when I look back on my life, I go, I wish there had been somebody like me that I could have been like, there's a beam, there's like there's a beacon of hope because I felt so lost and I just,
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: It got really to the point of like where I thought, okay, either this is life in the stocks and I'm going to end it or I do see people around me thriving like I'm just going to give it a shot and try to be happy.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: And there were many things that kind of led down this path.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: I did cognitive behavioral therapy, which was good.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: It helped me in the moment.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: I was put on anti-depressants.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: into anti-existing medication.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: Again, helped me in the moment, helped stop the suicide all thought, but I never really felt to live.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: I was consistently sleeping.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: It was not uncommon for me to have two or three hour and apps a day to sleep easily 12 hours a day.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't even know how I did school.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: I was just constantly sleeping all the time.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: I was just so zoned from those meds.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: And,
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm how I had a boyfriend and he ended up breaking up with me and it was for me.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, like, like, like, cannot get any lower than this.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: This sucks.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: And it was just like this wake up call where I thought,
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm doing all these OCD tendencies to prevent things like this from happening, but it's still happening.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: Even though, in hindsight, I'm like, the guy was a total loser.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe I even dated her.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really funny that when you look back at her.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: At the time, it was just like, Oh, I know.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Especially since he left me for another girl.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I hear you, I feel like, every time, like, we like, there's something about like, young love and you're like, this is the most important thing.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, what was I doing?
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: That guy is an asshole.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: I know, and even now I'm like, oh my god, but I was like, I'm not doing it anymore, like I'm not doing my OCD tendencies, which I have been in studies for OCD and they can they are just blown away by the fact that almost overnight I stopped.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: I would say 80% of them.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: I still had a couple that I kept and we're talking like.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Weird things for me like before I could sit down comfortable on a couch.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would have to stand up sit down stand up sit down six times.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: I would have to check all my books 42 times just like really weird things for me, but it's time consuming and so fascinating that like like you could have this like hold on I was doing all this so bad things what happened and bad things happened and and I do know that like there's like wonderful exposure.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: scientific studies on some OCD happenings like I've heard like you go to these places and they help expose you to the thing and like so so I do want to highlight like there's that but at how amazing that so many of them could just like your brain could just go because our brains don't like to be in dissonance right so it sounds like your brain was like hold on this does not so happen in my sense yeah so why don't these things these things are so happening like what's the point like late switches on off on off on like
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just stopped most of them.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: They were still thumb up until like I would say even like five years ago.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like I was very much like the two minute brush my teeth person, not a minute before and not a minute after.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: Not when I kept for a little bit.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm about like it's good hygiene.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, I stopped and I really thought, okay, I need to really focus on myself.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like I put all this energy into this relationship.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: I changed myself so this person liked me and it didn't work.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I really was going to just start working on myself.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: I stay on my medication for a little while.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't until I met my now husband, but my boyfriend at the time.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: We had just come back from my vacation, which was a huge deal for me to be able to go away, knapped most of it, but still came home.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Found out my grandfather was dying from lung cancer, and that rocked my world.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: He got, he went downhill really fast.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: And during that time during my grieving, I forgot to take some of my medication for a few days.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And my boyfriend was like, Brad, did you can do this?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: He had been on the medication for like a month and he was like, if this sucks, so I'm gonna be there with you and I was like, I'm gonna be like a raging bitch.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I hope I can swear on that.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he was like, no, like, I've got this, we're gonna do it together.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: so I don't suggest doing this.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: My doctor was incredibly disappointed with me.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: I do think it's a kind of like overnight.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're supposed to like ween yourself off.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I do, I will say like, I think that when you need it, medication for it can be so.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: helpful because we definitely want to stop any thoughts that could hit in someone's life.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: But I do agree with you and your boyfriend that I think long-term, we don't have a lot of information that, for everybody, it's the best thing.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm glad you're stipulating that doctors would recommend you like have a conversation about getting off.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was just like what was like, well, it's been like a month now.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not going back on them.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: And it was hard.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like I went through withdrawal, but I slowly started to feel like myself again in the biggest thing was it wasn't not being anymore.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: I had all this time on my hand, and I was like, what do I do with myself now and
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: Now that I wait for this sunlight.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: I know, what is this like, what is this?
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is sun in the sky?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's then that's really how I got into yoga.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: And that's really what started my deep dive into holistic health and wellness.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm still like to this day.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm a yogi through and through.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: I do other things now.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I wait train.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: I do Pilates.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm like, yoga is always my base and what I come back to.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: My parents are like, not necessarily, they kind of, they're interested in my stuff, but they're like, I don't understand why we can't have the processed hot dog buns for dinner.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, it's just not really their vibe, but yeah, it's it's been a really, it's been a long journey, but it's funny, like I was thinking about how my life has changed so much since then and I can't even believe the person I used to be to who I am now.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I also just want to highlight, it sounds like my focus and I'm taking care of yourself.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's how you, you know, found what you wanted and what you want to do.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think like, you know, so many people are so focused on the other people around them, making sure that they're happy and they're cared for and they're loved.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: And then they put themselves last.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, actually, when we can't get a little self focused, we actually can truly find ourselves in a way that we can be the best person.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: for the people that are alive.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like even if your parents don't like, that you won't eat the hot dog bun, they have more of you now than when you weren't focused in on yourself.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it was and it doesn't have to be a lot like it was just very much I'd come home from work and Brad would know I'm doing a little bit of yoga I was like 20 or 30 minutes, but that was my time for for myself and I mean people could just see the difference in the change in me and they were like go go ahead like go do what needs to be done so yeah that's that's kind of how I found myself in this position.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay, so can we talk a little bit like the timeline of the journey because obviously like we heard that the month of of the antipressant release, but like how long to take you to get a yoga practice, then also then discover that you wanted to teach it and then get to where you are like we're talking years, we're talking months, you know, like I've got these over to your perfectionists who are listening like, okay, so I just need to like do this for a few days and then I'm going to be good like what what's the what was the timeline.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was I see this it it was a long journey not to be discouraging, but to know like that for me that was my my truth I started off simply with 20 minutes of yoga.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think I committed to like three me before I think it was just three days a week it's like this is it this is all I'm going to do.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know, just to see, I kind of love the beef y'all.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for saying it was long and thank you.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: And it shouldn't be discouragement.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's just honest, like, I think a lot of times, you know, that the days are, the days are long with the years are short.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: And like, I can't believe I've been doing plies for 20 years.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I was just like, whoa, I've been doing this for, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've,
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, because it feels like just yesterday, I was like doing X, Y, and Z, and I'm working so hard on things.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, oh, no, actually I've achieved a ton, and it did take a long time to get that runway going.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: But it's an amazing thing that, like, once you set the time aside, you're doing three days a week.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_02]: You're doing 20 minutes at a time, and then it gets better, and people give you more time, and then you get more time, like it compounds, and then all of a sudden it's like things happen a little bit faster in the wellness journey.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, because you've built a strong foundation.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and it's funny because people often look at me now and and see everything that they do, I do like, Cole is to call if I do quantum quote, biohacks like coal plunging, we were talking about that.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: That didn't happen month three or six, that was year, how long I've been doing it.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like year seven, I got into that stuff.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was really, really slow, I even, I did yoga.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: for like five years before I even tried in different type of exercise.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and it was just natural to me to go, okay, like I feel like I'm ready for the next level of whatever, Pilates, way training, it was Pilates next.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: But even like my food journey, even now I'm really religious about eating really clean, nourishing myself.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: It started off super basic.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Was like, can I just get more vegetables into my diet that it that was it.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't looking like, did not drop the whole eat bread at first was still probably eating chicken nuggets, but it was like, okay, can I just introduce a couple new vegetables into my diet and from there will go go forward like I.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure you see this too.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes people message me, and they're like, these vegetables are going to kill me spinach is anti nutrient.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to die if I eat it.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like no wonder people feel so overwhelmed to start anything.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: You can read or look at anybody and see, oh, eat spinach is super power.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Eat spinach and die the next day.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like am I hearing this for the first time because I really like a spinach.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be really honest.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: I like a spinach.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: I like a mixed green.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't do not.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like a romaine.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to do an iceberg like but like I it's true.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think where people get confused is that there's so many people out there with that are mixing the messaging and also.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: not good information sometimes you know like you know where we live in the states.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: I got surfed on any other day and on on my socials and I'm like I'm gonna report this because this is not according to science like we actually do have science guys and does work and there is some incredible now four different bodies there's different things and like
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, there's a great book with it's so old.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's called the Plant Paradox.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: And if you really want to understand plants, it's such, it's so informative.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if you take one thing away, it's like, oh, if plants grow in rows, they have more poison to them.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: So you might have to cook them or do different things.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: So your body can digest them.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: Versus the plants that like to, their babies fly and be free.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: They're less poisonous.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: You can eat the however you want.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: Versus if you're from the South and him and Southern hemisphere, versus European, there's different plants.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I think what the problem is is that so many people are outsourcing how something feels in their body to someone else's opinion versus like, well, if you if you eat the spinach and you feel really good.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: Is it bad for you?
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just finished that book two or three books ago.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: And the same thing, I was like, all of this makes so much that and you know, a plan for living organisms.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, they have things that deter us from eating it.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: But as I'm like reading it too, I'm like,
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: I also feel like this guy, like, do you go out for food?
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, I eat something that makes me feel sick, but at the same time, like some of these people, they're like, oh, I, like, yes, there's no place for consuming seed oils on a daily basis.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: But if I'm in a restaurant, and they're like, this story, this is how we make our things.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm a surrounded by friends and family.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask if they can do something different, but if they're like, we absolutely can't like, this is how it is.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you know, like, putting more stress on my body about eating that is going to cause more damage than just enjoying myself once in a while like that and just like, I know life.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: I also think that's the balance, right?
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like,
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think it's a little like to me that perfectionism that control of like it has to be a certain way when I go out.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm going out.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's like I'm going to someone else's kitchen.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: And this is how they prepare it.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: And if I don't like that, I can not go.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: I can ask people what's the after-dinner party look like.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: I can do by research beforehand.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like because I've had foods and
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: doing my research ahead of time.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: So when I'm there, I can go, I'll take this thing.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take this thing because what I don't want is the whole dinner to be about what I can and can't or won't eat because then I'm not actually getting to know the people I'm with.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm busy like talking about like why you shouldn't have seed oils.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to be that person.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's not who I want to be at the dinner table.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's not my thing.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: And so like,
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think for I think people do have to have some sort of balance and when I was on an elimination diet, years ago was trying to figure out what's one of my stomach, I went to a ton of places and I said, oh, what time is dinner?
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'll meet you guys for dessert and then I wouldn't have tea because every rest on has tea, right?
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: And so you can do different things to like still be part of society.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the balance part of it and then understanding like,
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a little bit of something isn't going to kill you unless it's going to kill you, like unless you're allergic to shellfish, like that will kill you.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're just one of those like sensitive people, like either choose to not do it or just do it and like be kind to yourself the next day when you're a little more inflamed.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, just know that's going to happen.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I couldn't agree more.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it my son has a bunch of food allergies.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I've really opened my eyes up to that and sometimes it's simply like I will message people and say just so you know I'm calling the restaurant to see if I can bring some food for my for my son or at the time, like I'm still nursing.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: So there was a lot of things and we're talking like anaphylactic.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, which is all very different.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think these like you have to understand that and then like, but also I love that you did a head of time.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is where people can have a wonderful life is if you can advocate for yourself, but do it ahead of time and then that way you're not like, oh, can't with this restaurant isn't taking care of me, I know.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: And like, yeah, there's like there's a certain place we go to the chef knows me.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, I go into the sort of, or she knows me now too, but I'm like, just let the chef know that it's the girl with a lot of the allergy restrictions and he'll come out and he smiles he's like, I knew it was you.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: But like he and he gets it, right?
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's he's really accommodated us for that.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: So it's he's yeah, I found a way to kind of live and that, you know, at first two, it was like, okay, I guess I'll have the solid because, you know, at least I can put the dressing on the side, but
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's it's it's it's all a learning curve and I think to people shouldn't be so hard of themselves like if they're hearing me talk about spend I eat spinach by the way, I'm just saying there's some people out there that like you will die if you eat spinach oh my god and you have to you do you have to get really in tune with like how does it make you feel if you eat spinach and you're like I feel like garbage afterwards.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Mm hmm you should probably stop eating.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: I used to, I would have brown rice because some people would tell me it's healthier than white rice.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: And guess what?
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: You guys, it has arsenic.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: And it's actually not so awesome.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: For me, especially because I have a hard time breaking down lectern, and so I was telling my fun of an old friend, my fundamental health doctor, right?
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I said, I said, oh my god, I'm going to make this one ball.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: It has veggies, it has protein, it has all these things, but I just feel exhausted after I eat it.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: And she said, what's the base?
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: I said, it's brown rice and she'll switch it to right, right, right, right, right.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I switch it to right, right, right.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Fine.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like I just couldn't put, I just couldn't break down the lectern.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: And so, but also we're all very different.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I think,
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: where I hope people are getting permission here is like figure out what works for you and do the best you can and then we can have like what you do so while making it was like finding balance.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: You know like I think where a lot of people are getting confused is they're going oh this person says this but this person says this and what should I do it's like what what felt good to you?
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah exactly.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah
- 21:27[SPEAKER_02]: So okay, you have a kid out, life is totally changed for the moms who are listening like how have you been, because you focus on you to kind of get you here and obviously when they're an infant, they're an infant that's a different story, but how are you making sure you're still focusing on you while raising this kid out?
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I was just talking to a girlfriend about this literally this morning.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I was lucky enough that I live in Canada by the way, it's cold most of the time here.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's a summer baby.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Thank God.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: And so when I first brought him home like days old right away, I would just go out and get some like that was like my self-care moment with him.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: I would keep him skin to skin on my chest, we'd go outside.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: And to like I just it felt so good to get the vitamin D for him.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was really good.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: I had been really active my entire pregnancy knew that I wanted to kind of get back into that afterwards, but I also was really mindful of giving myself great grace.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'd really hard labor and delivery.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so I wasn't like I was even able to kind of get up and like walk around right the next day.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of followed Ish the 555 rule, which if you don't know, it's like five days in the bed, five days on the bed, five days around the bed.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of perfect science day four.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: I had to take into the doctors for a check-up.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: But that was kind of like my mentality.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was like I'm just going to be on the bed in the bed for the first little bit with him.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: My husband had dragged out like the food ton to the living room.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I can watch a TV show if I wanted.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: And that was kind of like the first 15 days for me.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was just really focusing on that.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then it started off with just going on walks afterwards.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: These were not hour long walks.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they were up and down the street.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: And that was it.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: I knew I really wanted to set my son up for healthy habits to for his life.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: And so really right from
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: I got the clearance.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I got usually a clearance like week six more getting back into your fitness routine.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: It was week nine for me.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: I had I literally got in a car accident like a month before my son had been born and so it took a little while for me to recover.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but as soon as I was able to, like, he would go in this swing next to me.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I did, like, my pelvic floor exercises and I did 10 minutes of yoga and he's almost to now, like, I work out with him or do yoga Pilates five or six days a week and he's there with me.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: I put toys around, I snacked out for him.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it takes like an hour and a half to do like a 40 minute class because he needs constant snacks now.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: But he sees me doing that and he knows in the morning when the weights come out like he even rolls out my yoga mat for me now.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: He has a little set of weights that he can do what's doing.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: He does his squats with me.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: And even before we do our workout together, I do a one half breath session and he goes bananas for that.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like he runs into the room.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, whim, whim, whim, whim.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: I put him on the bed and he sits with me.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: He watches the screen, which I'm sure some news like he's too young to look at a screen.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's whim-hoff.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: So he, and he thinks he's writing a moderation breathing thing.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he just sits there.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes I'll even hear him going.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: like he tries to do it and yeah something like some days it doesn't happen exactly how I wanted to but I would say for the most part like he just he knows the routine he knows that this is this is important to mommy and I will even tell him this is mommy's time now you can stay here and play with me but this is we're doing mommy's thing first and he's like okay I love this first
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I also, we had a guest on also, let's in Canada.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she married in Diff 5 kids.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: And she said, actions are caught not taught.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, our kids see us.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're making our movement practice a priority.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: And they don't have to do the movement practice, but they don't get to tell us we don't get to the movement practice.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, we are going to go, we work out in the morning, we do a walk, you can come with us or not.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to go do this, then we're going to go do this.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: Then we will do these things with you.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: So if you don't want to wait, hang out with us until then, then you can come with us.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's her big thing is that kids really pick up on that.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's really important.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: Because of course they have needs and there's other things they need.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: But like if you can find patient and you can give yourself grace to take 45 minutes to do if they get out and have to do a 45 minute workout.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Then as they get older, look, he's rolling your bad at that's so cute.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: We have OPC members who's
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: kids know the sound of my voice and they'll like be on the ground next their mom they're like oh I could roll like a ball like I could do it you know I'm like that is so important and if they're on screen learning healthy stuff versus being babysat there's a very big difference so I'm all for that but I but I just really thank you because I do think that so many people are like oh I need to have complete alone time and then I can work out and it's like there's no
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: Perfect day like I barely have can but I don't even have kids, but I used to have three dogs and they have you got a different times like, okay, hold on let me let you out.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let me let me let you up this while now you want your food.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, here's like, you know, so like I've pre made all the bowls and then they come to like even my own workout would be interrupted.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even have children.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so it's like how can we.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: prep the area, prep the scene, prep the people in our lives for what we're about to do.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then how can we take advantage of what we can do?
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and then be kind, I know that that's good enough for today.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I think I never heard the 555 thing, of course, every mom listening, probably is a common lesson, but that's so interesting because I do think that people had a girlfriend who had kids, and she's like, I really didn't think that eight months after
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: you know, and she went to it as a trainer and like all these things and pre-postenatal and she's like experience it for herself for the first time and it's like, yeah, everyone is different.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're all different and we have to to know that and and take our time getting it back.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, I have one child.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: Someone's like, I have three or four or five kids, like, you know, maybe you don't have the luxury of doing the five, five, five right away after, but it's also like little things for a postpartum like it's nice to get the bass and that and the clothes for the kiddo, but I had people meal prep me a bunch of things that was part of a postpartum gift.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: And some of them are me cleaning services for like four or five different times.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: I utilize that so I don't have to get out of bed or off the couch and take away the Yes, why don't people write a string for this because I see the registrations.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: I had a girlfriend and we were like late to the party on like buying the right.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, oh, now we're down to the things kids not going to wear this stuff.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, we're not getting any of these things.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to get some dinner gifts or tickets to restaurants near her house.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: I can deliver.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's what we're doing.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: Because that is, I refuse to buy clothes.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: This kid is gonna be born in the summer.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: We naked the whole time.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was my, like, my kid lived in a diaper for the first, like four months.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: And we got so many handy downs.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I'm not, I'm not spending money on clothing.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to grow out of in two weeks, but yeah, like the dinner thing, if someone is ever, like, I don't know what to get a postpartum mom, food or cleaning services will, you will be their favorite person in the entire world because there's, yeah, you don't want to be, you don't want to be cooking or cleaning after watching it.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: Bring me food.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: So kiddos to your your business had to change.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds like from what you were doing before him to now what you're doing.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: What is the beat till you see it that you're working on right now?
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like are we are you going to add more things back?
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: Are you trying to enjoy what you got?
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like what what are we what what's the thing you're most excited about right now?
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: I really wanted to get back to basics.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: For me, when I first started yoga, I was like, this has changed my life so profoundly, I wanted to teach others how to do the same.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so I had done like a manifestation meditation teacher training and a meditation teacher training.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: And just this, you kind of want to grow new things happen to you.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: I got caught up in what everyone else was doing and thought I should be doing the same thing.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I was thinking of this the other day and I was like, I really want to get back to basics.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably not going to happen right away for me, just realistically with a little guy with allergies.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I really want to get back to I literally before the world shut down.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: I did Costa Rica.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: yoga retreat and in before 2020.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: and I loved it.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: It was, I love to travel.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: I love yoga.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, this is an amazing blend here.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: I really want to get back to doing retreats again in an ideal world.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: I would love to do like three to four a year.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: But I also kind of want to do some weekend ones.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a mom now.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not realistic for me to pack up and say to you for a week.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I go to Cyprus.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: But I could probably figure out how to get away
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Just to kind of teach people the basics.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: Again, everybody's seeing all these like cold, lunch, things, sauna things.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I wanted to teach people how to get into meditation.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: You can meditate in five minutes a day.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: And change your absolute lead.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about teaching how to get into meditation.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: I would love to go there because I do think like, yes, of course, as a cold plunder.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, all these things, but I will say like, a lot of this have as advanced.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's advanced by a hacking.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's advanced, like,
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: things in a fitness.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_02]: We also have to get people moving, but also like my husband other day was like, I had like feeling like he had something like his chest and I was like, oh, have you like meditated?
- 31:31[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, no, and I was like, I said, I'm going to do it every day.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: So let's talk about the basics of meditation because I think people think it's a little more difficult than it is.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they don't think they have time.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: So what are the basics?
- 31:44[SPEAKER_02]: How do we get started?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: Super big.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: I always tell people like truly what type of person do you think you are.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: If you have a movement practice, are you a morning or an evening person?
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes people are like, I'm up at five.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: I do my work.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: Go after.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're an evening person, let's just dedicate 10 minutes, right?
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: We're not going to do 10 minutes of meditation, but let's just dedicate the 10 minutes at the end of the night to
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: What feels good to you?
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: And that's another thing too.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: Do you feel like I can't close my mind down, but I can listen to somebody tell me what to do?
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: A guided meditation is where we're at.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're more of like a, I just feel like I need to actually physically do something and be such just listen to somebody talk.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: Do a breath work, take a meditation where you kind of have to use your head to count things out, but it's also tangible, like you're actually doing this breathing thing.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're whole body is an instrument.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, but no I understand.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, when you do a whiff off guys, it's like it is full belly, full long full.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's like really in.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's very kinesthetic.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and it's like some people need to be guided.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, sometimes people like I just sat in 30 minutes of silence.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not at that point.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: I very rarely did things like that when I was doing meditation.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a works for you great.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're like I can sit there for five minutes, 10 minutes, however long and do that.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: perfect.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it's more for the people that are like, I know I should probably start where find a person even online that you resonate with, see one they have meditations, and if they don't, who do they like to use?
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: I have some, you know, free on YouTube and all that stuff too, but I'm always recommending my meditation teacher because she is the most soothing voice in the entire world.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely adore her.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes I don't want to listen to myself do it.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, I mean, I did it in a different way.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: Every teacher should have their own teacher.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love this suggestion.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's like dedicate ten minutes.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's a happy ten minute.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: Do a guided.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's, and tell you, especially if you're new, like, I don't, I don't, everyone listening here is like, recovering prefectious over achiever.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: We want to know if we're doing it right.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_02]: So like having a guided meditations really nice, you know, and like I have an or a ring you guys in the or app there are guided meditations and breath work once part of the thing which is like insane I was like oh well I'm glad I'm paying for this but also YouTube you know like you'd be surprised like the workouts have ads because those people want to get paid but the meditations actually don't have ads during the meditations so you can get an interrupted meditation for free and it's true like fine the voices that you like to listen to I love that.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it also, you know, like when I first started my first original, it was a yoga teacher who was trying to teach us to meditate.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: She was like, you absolutely have to sit up tall, spine is nice and long cross like it.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: And then when I did my meditation teacher, she was like, that's not feasible for a lot of people.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: Get comfortable.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that means lying down.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe someone's in a wheelchair and they actually can't.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically like into a different position.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like it does not have to be the super rigid thing you could.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: When your alarm goes off first thing in the morning, lay back into bed, obviously not into a point of wanting to fall back asleep and stuff, but get comfortable, you know.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: without scrolling on social media, go to like the podcast app has the bunch of meditations on it.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: Find what and listen to it there.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a mom, I get it.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it's not easy.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes my meditation is literally while we're brushing our teeth in the morning.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: And that's going, so my son's also listening to it.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I have it stuck at that way.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: If I could do breath work, working out meditation, like I used to pre-baby, I would.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not a reality for me a lot of the time.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know, maybe you do it as you're getting breakfast in the morning.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're just listening and just dipping your toes into the the water that way.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, actually, I like all the permission there.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's like meditation doesn't really require perfection.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people make it more difficult than it is.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: Are you able to just be mindful?
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I had a thought.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: Let's like, okay, now I had another, okay, there's another thought and another like there's clouds, right?
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's it's actually not as
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: We make it seem like we have to have the clearest mind, the perfect, which is it perfectly still.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't sat perfectly still in an interview.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: I've had my legs crossed.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: I have my legs on the table now.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's a whole thing.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: We're not like, that's just not how we are.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: So we have to like, what is possible for us?
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then like, be kind to ourselves and then start using the tools that we have.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I really appreciate you sharing that.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's really great.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: And I do like the idea.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: of what you're wanting to do next, which is going back to basics with people because especially as your little one is getting to be more independent, you'll have more time.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: They'll be people who also need to go back to the basics and start there and rebuild the foundation because you're a new person.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we have to, I think like the idea that like I've always hated the word like bouncing back when that's with like shoved into mothers, wives like you're going to bounce
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: None of us are going back.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: We're always going forward.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: So how do we take the new chapter that we're in, the new book and like create what is the scene and the setting that's gonna be the best for where you're going.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then when your cake goes to school, that's a new transition.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then like when they're in high school, it's a different, there's all these different things.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: And so,
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: what I love about your journey making and like what you've shared with us is just like this idea that like what is possible, be kind to ourselves and then like little by little it's a long journey but you're going to get there.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's, you know, it's I people always like roll their eyes when they hear, but it really isn't about the destination.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's about the journey or, you know, I've also heard people say, well, the time's going to pass anyways, what are you going to do with it might as well do something that makes you feel happier brings you a little bit of fulfillment gives you purpose.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, brings you joy and for me, this is what, you know, I love this stuff.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: I was just saying to my husband, like, I love listening to podcasts, I love watching documentaries.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: To me, this is not boring.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't find it like, I roll over the, I enjoy it.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes I listen to things that I'm like, I don't resonate with that person said, I know I keep harping on spinach, but like,
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't keep eating spinach as long as I feel good eating it and other times, you know, like, we were just talking about, too.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you hear something on a podcast and it just for whatever reason, it just clicks with you that and you make a change from brown rice to white rice and all of a sudden you feel a thousand times better like to me, I love learning how can I optimize myself to be a better version of how I was then yesterday.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: And it comes in little little changes, not big ones to be honest.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if we look at how corporations make big changes, it's like years in the making.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: I remember we're going to corporation and they're like, okay, you're,
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: In February, they're going to do the one-slok room, and in March or into the men's locker room.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: In April, they're going to do this room, and it's going to take a year to re-model this gym little by little so that it's on the new branding.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, you're going to take a year.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_02]: I can't just shut down for a week and just do the whole thing.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: No, like, why don't they do that?
- 39:05[SPEAKER_02]: Because you actually, like,
- 39:09[SPEAKER_02]: The gym is like a body.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's an organism itself.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's had its own season, its own routine, its own thing.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: And if you disrupt the whole thing and you shake it up, you actually don't really see what worked and what didn't work.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: You don't learn from mistakes.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: And so like we all can go, okay, I'm just gonna switch out the rice.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: Or I'm actually gonna keep this vintage.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna heat it up or I am gonna work out.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm gonna pick a 30 minute class in this hour and a half time that I have.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm gonna see how long it takes me.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: Wonderful.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like I think like it's just being okay experimenting and then reflecting and refining.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_02]: I really appreciate that permission you gave us, making one take a brief break and then find out what people can find you follow you and work with you.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Megan, where do you hang out?
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: Where can they go back to the basics with you?
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if anyone wants to follow along with me, you can find me on all the places, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, at Balance, by Megan, M-E-G-H-A-N.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: My podcast is Balance Your Life, which you are also being guessed on in your episode will really soon.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, those are the places that you can connect with me.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: Wonderful.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, you've given us a lot, but bold, executable, intrinsic, or targeted steps people can take to be until they see it.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: What do you have for us?
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have to just, whatever is calling to you right now, whether that's starting a new movement practice or starting a meditation practice or taking one food item and swapping it for something healthier.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: whatever's resonating with you, not what you've seen online, fall that intuition of yours and just run with it, go with it, don't make it complicating, you know, start with a 10 minute yoga flow if yoga feels called to you, maybe it's Pilate.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's just start and see how you feel.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: Give yourself some time too, like this isn't like a one day thing, how did I feel?
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if you were excruciating pain that's one thing, but just start and just let the map
- 41:16[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, I like that.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_02]: Just start with one thing and then take your time.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_02]: I really, I think that's okay.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I know we all want things up and faster, but they actually happen.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_02]: They happen faster, more slowly, like they really do.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: Wonderful.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, you guys, we want to know how you're using these tips in your life.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_02]: What's the one thing that you start?
- 41:35[SPEAKER_02]: What's the meditation that you like share it with Megan?
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: Share with it be a pod, because hey, especially the meditation things you're like, and we love to share those out with people.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: And it shares with the friend who needs to hear it.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you have someone in your life who's going through something, and they need to hear like, there is light on the other side.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: And the journey is long, but it's worth going on.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: And we would love for them to share that from us,
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: Be it tell you see it.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's all I got for this episode of The Beat Tell You See A Podcast.
