- 0:03Speaker 1: Yo Bootleg cav podcast, Yes on the Road with Jelly Roll.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Baby The Road with the Role Dude.
- 0:10Speaker 1: First of all, Man, congratulations a new album. I text
- 0:12Speaker 1: you this, but I truly feel I know it's, you know,
- 0:15Speaker 1: coming from the hip hop side of things to say classic.
- 0:18Speaker 1: When I hear a project a couple of times straight through,
- 0:21Speaker 1: I feel like this is a classic body of work.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We're gonna come back at this.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm super proud of it.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Dude.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It's the most time I've ever spent on a single
- 0:28Speaker 2: body of.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Work and it's twenty eight songs, but it's.
- 0:31Speaker 2: A lot of meat. Dude. I wrote like one hundred
- 0:33Speaker 2: and fifty, one hundred and sixty or something.
- 0:34Speaker 1: It's so crazy because even if like I go back
- 0:36Speaker 1: to like your old school shit, like your songwriting to
- 0:41Speaker 1: me has always been pretty superior in terms of like
- 0:44Speaker 1: your ability to write certain hooks, like you know, thinking
- 0:48Speaker 1: back to like Sunday Morning or smoking section. But it
- 0:53Speaker 1: feels like the song writing has just like it's like
- 0:58Speaker 1: it's hit its peak. Like I feel like you're in
- 0:59Speaker 1: your prime with the pen right now.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I think I'm getting close. I don't think I'm there yet.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I think i'm because I'm starting to like learn more
- 1:06Speaker 3: about music too. Yeah, So the more I understand how
- 1:09Speaker 3: the top line, like the lyrics side of what I
- 1:11Speaker 3: do works with the music side of what's happening under it,
- 1:15Speaker 3: the more dangerous I'm getting with understanding how this all
- 1:18Speaker 3: works together.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting too because like I think of a song, like,
- 1:22Speaker 1: first of all, you kicked the album off with winning streak,
- 1:24Speaker 1: which is crazy because I grew up going to NA
- 1:27Speaker 1: and AA meetings. My uncle had a drug rehab and
- 1:29Speaker 1: he is recovering addict. My dad's a recovering addict. So
- 1:33Speaker 1: I some my summer job used to be to sit
- 1:36Speaker 1: in the back of those meetings. Wow, as like a
- 1:38Speaker 1: fourteen or fifteen year old wow, collect people's stuff, you know,
- 1:42Speaker 1: like because it was it was a part of like
- 1:44Speaker 1: a people who are on probation. You know.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Did you understand at that age how impactful what was
- 1:50Speaker 3: happening in front of you was?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Or no?
- 1:52Speaker 1: I think so, man, because you would just see people
- 1:54Speaker 1: break down and like, I know, you know, I was like,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I never have touched any like I would say hard. Oh,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I've dounch rooms and weed and you know, a little
- 2:02Speaker 1: bit of molly but I've never like putting none up
- 2:04Speaker 1: my nose and shit because of like the I've seen
- 2:08Speaker 1: it with my own eyes, Like right, you know, you.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Know the dangers of you got to see it. It's
- 2:12Speaker 3: absolute worse. It's crazy that you got to see the
- 2:16Speaker 3: impact and understood the impact at that age too, because
- 2:18Speaker 3: something what's happened in those rooms, it's magical at times. Man,
- 2:22Speaker 3: it's also hilarious. I've heard some of the funniest stories
- 2:25Speaker 3: of my life ever in those rooms.
- 2:27Speaker 1: How because I heard you talk about it a little
- 2:29Speaker 1: bit on Joe, But like, how often do you try
- 2:31Speaker 1: to get into a meeting and like, at this point
- 2:34Speaker 1: your jelly roll, So I can only imagine you walking
- 2:37Speaker 1: into a meeting.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Nah, Man, That's kind of one of the cool things
- 2:41Speaker 3: about going to a meeting is they take the anonymous
- 2:43Speaker 3: side of that really serious. So that's why I don't
- 2:46Speaker 3: That's why I haven't talked a lot about it, because
- 2:47Speaker 3: I don't know how much they would want me sharing
- 2:49Speaker 3: what happens in those rooms or not. Dude, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 3: but it's just so magical. But uh, yeah, man, that's
- 2:55Speaker 3: the cool thing is that never bothered at all, man, Yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 3: never bothered at all anytime you go, man, just you know,
- 3:00Speaker 3: you're just another addict or just another alcoholic to them.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That's how they look at you.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Man.
- 3:04Speaker 4: It just really humiliation, really this thing of humiliation that
- 3:09Speaker 4: happens in there in a way of like humbling, like
- 3:11Speaker 4: in a good way of like, no matter how great
- 3:14Speaker 4: we're doing today, we always reduce ourselves to know that
- 3:17Speaker 4: we're still that addict at heart, so we could that
- 3:20Speaker 4: any moment, this thing could go left for us, and
- 3:23Speaker 4: it is what keeps people in constant gratitude.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I was gonna ask you, man, but to answer.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Your question, because I hate avoiding questions as much as
- 3:31Speaker 3: I can go right, you know these days a few
- 3:34Speaker 3: a year, you know what I mean, ten a year, maybe.
- 3:36Speaker 1: What has there been, like any specific feedback you've gotten
- 3:39Speaker 1: from that song and just being like wow, someone because
- 3:41Speaker 1: I can't recall someone who's tackled that experience on a record,
- 3:45Speaker 1: let alone kicking kicking off an album.
- 3:47Speaker 2: You know, yeah, it's been cool, man. I haven't I
- 3:49Speaker 2: haven't got I've been sub dude. I hate to admit this.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I've been so in the vortex of this thing right here.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I hadn't.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Even just today took the time to look at like critical.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Reviews of my album?
- 4:03Speaker 2: You know what I mean about that?
- 4:05Speaker 3: No, not at all, but it just popped up on
- 4:07Speaker 3: my feed and I actually had time today to entertain it.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I didn't go search for it.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I just you know, it's like it's there and it's
- 4:14Speaker 3: album review and then you hit one and you know
- 4:16Speaker 3: how news feeds doing the Google, it just immediately gives
- 4:18Speaker 3: you the role and you're like, well, let me just
- 4:19Speaker 3: what did Pitchfork say?
- 4:20Speaker 2: What did Browne? So?
- 4:21Speaker 3: You know, and more than anything, it's not that I
- 4:23Speaker 3: care about it. I'm just still so new to this.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I care that they cared, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I don't care if you shop on the album.
- 4:29Speaker 2: The fact that you took the time to review a
- 4:32Speaker 2: twenty eight song album that I put out, it's still
- 4:35Speaker 2: fucking insane to me. Did people care enough about what
- 4:38Speaker 2: I'm doing? You know? Yo?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Uh if by the time this comes out.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Think about that somebody got paid.
- 4:45Speaker 1: To listen to your music and give them like a.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Real deal, like well thought out thought like dude, thank you.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I'm honored.
- 4:54Speaker 1: No, Like, I mean shit, growing up like and the
- 4:56Speaker 1: source was such a big deal when you like going
- 4:57Speaker 1: to look at the mics and but but again, it'd
- 4:59Speaker 1: be like just having people give a fuck from Pitchfork
- 5:02Speaker 1: or you know, if someone talked to you fifteen years ago,
- 5:05Speaker 1: ten years ago, shit, eight years ago.
- 5:07Speaker 3: One hunt, I would just be I would be so
- 5:09Speaker 3: excited that the review could have just been a shit
- 5:12Speaker 3: on me. And I've been like I'm getting reviewed, and
- 5:13Speaker 3: that's still how I feel now. So yeah, but I
- 5:17Speaker 3: just now I'm starting to see like the effects of
- 5:19Speaker 3: the music that's happened even past yesterday. I kind of
- 5:22Speaker 3: missed how big that moment was on TikTok. For the
- 5:24Speaker 3: first few days of like twelve fifteen, twenty thousand women
- 5:27Speaker 3: just sharing their story was crazy.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, it's it's crazy too because you the
- 5:33Speaker 1: success of that moment on TikTok is what kind of
- 5:36Speaker 1: it sped up you dropping the deluxe?
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 5:39Speaker 3: We planned to drop the Deluxe, but it was like,
- 5:41Speaker 3: I was gonna wait a few days or maybe even
- 5:42Speaker 3: a week and see if I needed to come back around.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And I was kind of inspired by post Malone because
- 5:48Speaker 3: remember he dropped F one trillion and it had all
- 5:50Speaker 3: these features, and then he dropped like seven songs called
- 5:52Speaker 3: the Long Bed Edition right after with seven songs that.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Were so low.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I had these five like fire features come in the
- 6:00Speaker 2: bottom of the night.
- 6:00Speaker 3: In it, like people showed up for me, like Halsey,
- 6:05Speaker 3: Russ Keith, Urban Ernest, like all those features showed up
- 6:10Speaker 3: with for me, like within a week of releasing.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Crazy now because I remember hearing you working on some
- 6:14Speaker 1: of these records, like at the beginning of the tour,
- 6:17Speaker 1: just in a room backstage.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Yeah, and like these we're still writing Beautifully Broken on
- 6:23Speaker 3: the Beautifully Broken tour.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I never thought of it that way. Cam. That's right,
- 6:26Speaker 2: that's true.
- 6:26Speaker 1: That's a great way to put it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: That's why you're interview.
- 6:29Speaker 1: If you're watching this, there's a good chance by the
- 6:32Speaker 1: time this is released, that you had the number one album,
- 6:34Speaker 1: your first number one album.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yes, it was either me or Rod Wave and it's
- 6:38Speaker 2: the battle is more than me and I'm happy for him.
- 6:40Speaker 1: But it's crazy to think how far you've come.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Bro.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Like you know, I always say when I when I
- 6:47Speaker 1: think of music, you are an anomaly in terms of
- 6:53Speaker 1: your career path, Like this doesn't happen, I don't know
- 6:56Speaker 1: if it will ever happen again. I think that You've
- 6:59Speaker 1: always heard this from when you know, however many fifty
- 7:03Speaker 1: to one hundred or three or four hundred people cedars
- 7:05Speaker 1: you were doing. But I feel like what's always been
- 7:07Speaker 1: synonymous with you is when people meet you, they love
- 7:10Speaker 1: you right right, And I feel like that's just happening
- 7:14Speaker 1: now on a world worldly stage. Yes, and just talk
- 7:20Speaker 1: like how big of a deal is that?
- 7:21Speaker 2: Man?
- 7:21Speaker 1: Because the last album was number five?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Right? Yeah? I think last album was five, And I
- 7:25Speaker 2: was blown away that we were in that car. That's
- 7:26Speaker 2: what I was talking to Joe about. And I love
- 7:28Speaker 2: Joe's perspective.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I needed it this week, Yeah, album week when Joe's like,
- 7:31Speaker 3: don't worry about a number one out, dude, worry about
- 7:33Speaker 3: being jelly roll man. I'll stay at the sun. I've
- 7:35Speaker 3: got that'll stick with me forever. But for me, it's
- 7:38Speaker 3: still just like I guess, just.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Being in the conversations are still so new to me.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Like when I read the first time that charge hits whatever,
- 7:46Speaker 3: David double drops and it goes jelly rolling rodwave with
- 7:49Speaker 3: an X amount of thousands of each other for what
- 7:51Speaker 3: could be first week number one, and.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I'm a like enormous road wave man.
- 7:56Speaker 3: He's like a huge rod like and as an artist,
- 8:00Speaker 3: as a human, like how he's handled himself in critical
- 8:03Speaker 3: appeal and the songs and just what he stands for.
- 8:06Speaker 3: And I feel like we're singing the exact same song,
- 8:09Speaker 3: just over two different beds.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Of music, right, you know what I mean?
- 8:16Speaker 3: You know it's a It's like I would say that
- 8:19Speaker 3: we're in the same house, just you know, we're in
- 8:20Speaker 3: different rooms, you know what I mean.
- 8:22Speaker 2: That's what's happening right with Jelly Rolling rod Wave anyway.
- 8:24Speaker 3: So just even being that kind of conversation with him
- 8:27Speaker 3: or Charlie XCX and like these like these.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Are pop stars to me.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Hey, you know this, you're a fucking pop star.
- 8:34Speaker 2: That's crazy talk. That's that's crazy weep.
- 8:37Speaker 1: It's funny. Every time we see each other after some time,
- 8:39Speaker 1: we'll be like, Yo, it's getting weird, ain't it.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It's getting weird, and it's getting weird. I'll admit that
- 8:44Speaker 3: to you though on and off camera. It's getting weird,
- 8:46Speaker 3: but like in a good way.
- 8:47Speaker 1: But it's but dude, it's like if if I'm watching
- 8:50Speaker 1: the Super Bowl and you're in a commercial, and then
- 8:53Speaker 1: I'm watching Summer Slam and you're fucking by the way
- 8:55Speaker 1: pulling off what what an amazing choke slamb.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Listen it was I probably up there, Listen.
- 9:04Speaker 3: I hate to say this. I'll get in trouble for
- 9:07Speaker 3: just saying this. I've had one of the best years ever.
- 9:09Speaker 3: If I have a number one album this week, I've
- 9:11Speaker 3: had a number one album Saturday Night Live. I mean,
- 9:14Speaker 3: I was invited to the Grammys for the first time
- 9:16Speaker 3: this year.
- 9:16Speaker 2: This is all this year and I'm turning forty forty.
- 9:19Speaker 3: I want to be forty this year, and I can
- 9:21Speaker 3: still tell you that I think Summer slim is probably
- 9:23Speaker 3: the coolest moment of the year.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Oh for sure.
- 9:25Speaker 2: It's just hard to beat. Dude. It's like the listen,
- 9:28Speaker 2: I got slimmed. That's up there.
- 9:30Speaker 1: That was cool.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 3: But for me, these were big moments for me because
- 9:33Speaker 3: I've talked about this a little bit, but not the
- 9:34Speaker 3: way I really want to. It's like this was like
- 9:37Speaker 3: inner child moments for me, you know what I mean,
- 9:40Speaker 3: Like as a kid who grew up in the system,
- 9:42Speaker 3: and everybody knows my story. They're exhausted here and I
- 9:44Speaker 3: don't talk about it no more neither, But just knowing
- 9:47Speaker 3: where I'm from, I was by by some decisions I made, had.
- 9:51Speaker 2: To grow up a little earlier than most people.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yeah, so because of that, I didn't you know what
- 9:55Speaker 3: I mean, Like, you bring me back and slim me,
- 9:58Speaker 3: you circle back around and I get to choke slam
- 10:01Speaker 3: somebody and sugget to listen, and they brought me in
- 10:04Speaker 3: full face, just feeling off, just doing what they do best,
- 10:10Speaker 3: just gracing them, just gracing and Austin just wiling people up.
- 10:14Speaker 3: And I get to come in with a chair shot
- 10:17Speaker 3: and then listen, here's the shoot on and I shot on.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I shot on a little bit with Logan, but here's
- 10:21Speaker 3: a real shoot on this. To giv Austin theory is
- 10:23Speaker 3: a hero in this. Grayson's a hero in this. MI
- 10:28Speaker 3: is our truth, dude, our truth. Is one of the
- 10:34Speaker 3: best humans on earth I've heard, one of the sweetest,
- 10:37Speaker 3: most down to earth.
- 10:38Speaker 2: What can I do to help you? Loving dudes? You
- 10:40Speaker 2: will ever meet.
- 10:42Speaker 3: His His character where he confuses stuff is so hilarious.
- 10:47Speaker 3: But like if that wasn't his character, that's a piece
- 10:49Speaker 3: of his soul anyways, Like just that lighthearted.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Spiritedness of who he is. And I realized really early
- 10:57Speaker 2: when I was working with all of these dudes that
- 10:59Speaker 2: they were doing everything they could to make me look
- 11:01Speaker 2: as good as I could.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that whole jealous a little spoof he had. It
- 11:05Speaker 1: kind of sets you up, like like that first appearance
- 11:08Speaker 1: you did and he had the jelly.
- 11:10Speaker 2: It's so good, dude, It's like it was cool man.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So like that watching them rally and when you realize that,
- 11:17Speaker 3: it gives you a whole new respect for wrestling. I
- 11:19Speaker 3: always say it to guys when they do when like, uh,
- 11:22Speaker 3: I tell Eric Church or guys. They don't know the
- 11:23Speaker 3: language sometimes, but I'm like man in the wrestling world
- 11:25Speaker 3: post Malone, when he put me on his album, I
- 11:27Speaker 3: was like, Yo, this is called giving me the rub,
- 11:29Speaker 3: Like you're pulling me.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Over right now. Yeah you know what I mean over
- 11:31Speaker 2: putting me over, dude. It's like you're giving me the
- 11:33Speaker 2: rub right now.
- 11:35Speaker 3: And I realized that that's why that business has stayed
- 11:38Speaker 3: big for so many years. I wish music would steal
- 11:40Speaker 3: that from them, the idea of constantly trying to pull people,
- 11:44Speaker 3: get people, help put people, constantly trying to put people over,
- 11:47Speaker 3: constantly trying to give people the rub, like watching.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I think you know, I think Drake did that for
- 11:52Speaker 1: a long time, you know.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Because even in Austin's shoes, his idea was like, I know,
- 11:56Speaker 3: I'm taking a bump here and listen, Austin is a
- 11:59Speaker 3: world class wrestler. He has no business allowing an overweight
- 12:02Speaker 3: musician choke slamming him on SummerSlam, you know what I mean.
- 12:07Speaker 2: But he's but it's in his mind.
- 12:09Speaker 3: It's like, no, this is what's best for all of
- 12:11Speaker 3: us in this moment, because if we all do this right,
- 12:14Speaker 3: this clip could be big for all of us. This
- 12:16Speaker 3: could be big for the entire wrestling world. This could
- 12:19Speaker 3: be new eyeballs on wrestling. This could like this is
- 12:21Speaker 3: how they think of every decision they make back in
- 12:23Speaker 3: those locker rooms, and it's I admire it, dude, and
- 12:26Speaker 3: thank you for letting me come on here and get
- 12:27Speaker 3: to shoot on that a little more because it's like I'm.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Now I'm also obsessed. I am ready in the backyard.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Rumble in Tampa.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I was just there hanging. Yeah, you was with your son. Yeah,
- 12:41Speaker 3: we were just there on some like whatever stuff.
- 12:44Speaker 2: That's yo.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It's interesting to see.
- 12:48Speaker 3: That's something else I'm proud of. I've never been worked
- 12:53Speaker 3: into the show for any reason. But being a fan
- 12:55Speaker 3: of the show right because you're just there exactly. It
- 12:58Speaker 3: was never like a media thing or like business is
- 13:01Speaker 3: people together. This was real deal, Like, Hey, I'm coming
- 13:05Speaker 3: to Monday night Raw. Anyways, how early am I allowed
- 13:08Speaker 3: to get there?
- 13:08Speaker 1: And who can I meet?
- 13:10Speaker 2: And then when I'm.
- 13:10Speaker 3: There and they see that I'm such a fan, they're like, man,
- 13:12Speaker 3: we should work this dude in the show. Randy's the
- 13:15Speaker 3: home he sodom. I just met him, but he's just
- 13:18Speaker 3: immediately was like, oh this is I love this. Let's
- 13:20Speaker 3: do this, you know what I mean. He immediately was
- 13:22Speaker 3: like drawing into bringing me into the storyline with him,
- 13:25Speaker 3: which was super super cool because he's seen that I
- 13:28Speaker 3: was a fan too, and he told me that afterwards.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Randy was like, uh, He's like, it's a lot of
- 13:31Speaker 3: people to come through here that kind of know what
- 13:33Speaker 3: we're doing, but they're not necessarily as He's like, man,
- 13:36Speaker 3: just I admire the grace you showed back here, Like
- 13:39Speaker 3: the respect. I mean, you know, I walk around that
- 13:41Speaker 3: think and I had off like yo, I have a
- 13:43Speaker 3: lot of respect for what they do back there.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Man, huge fucking wrestling fan, kah, huge wrestling fan.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Talk to me about this moment we're in where there's
- 13:52Speaker 1: a lot of uh cross genre happening in the country direction,
- 13:59Speaker 1: And I feel like you're kind of the first person
- 14:04Speaker 1: that I that did it in a serious way. But
- 14:09Speaker 1: but but you kind of did it in a way
- 14:10Speaker 1: that was a lot a lot different than some of
- 14:12Speaker 1: the artists will see it now, Like you kind of
- 14:14Speaker 1: did it. You're an underground artist initially, right, like, and
- 14:18Speaker 1: then doing country was always something that was natural to you,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but it's what changed your life.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Right do you feel like the.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Trend of the genre of country music is being like
- 14:32Speaker 1: it feels like everyone's doing country. It just kind and
- 14:37Speaker 1: like not necessarily from a place of like even being
- 14:39Speaker 1: a fan of the music, just it just feels like
- 14:41Speaker 1: it's the thing to do, Like, like from your perspective
- 14:44Speaker 1: as kind of being the first guy to kind of
- 14:47Speaker 1: people would look at you as a rapper initially right
- 14:50Speaker 1: to have all this success, Like from how you see it,
- 14:53Speaker 1: how do you how do you see what's going on
- 14:54Speaker 1: right now with everybody kind of flocking to the genre.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I think it's country music finally getting's turn.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Yeah, my perspective, it is like we've actually got to
- 15:02Speaker 3: watch every other genre get its turn on critical mass,
- 15:04Speaker 3: but never Country. There would be artists here and there
- 15:07Speaker 3: that would get big enough that, like, you know, country
- 15:11Speaker 3: has always been represented in critical masks, with the Grammys, Amas, VMA's,
- 15:16Speaker 3: you know, all these different facets. But it's I think
- 15:19Speaker 3: it's just like the natural evolution of like it was
- 15:21Speaker 3: just kind of Country's turn. Finally, it was a great
- 15:24Speaker 3: time to be there. I think I have. I think
- 15:27Speaker 3: that the only thing I have to do with that
- 15:28Speaker 3: is luck of just waiting out long enough to be around,
- 15:33Speaker 3: long enough to be there, you know what I mean.
- 15:36Speaker 3: It's kind of the John Cena story. The Seeing Punk
- 15:39Speaker 3: stories are kind of John Cena's just like it was
- 15:42Speaker 3: just he was just consistently there. You just always show
- 15:45Speaker 3: up and you're always there. It's like all of a
- 15:47Speaker 3: sudden you can you can eventually become the guys the last.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I feel like you gave Post the rub.
- 15:52Speaker 2: No Posts gave me the use. Well listen, Post is Post,
- 15:54Speaker 2: but I.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Feel like in this world like it's you giving him
- 15:57Speaker 1: the run.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Well it's a weird thing, man. It's like
- 16:00Speaker 2: Post and Beyonce.
- 16:01Speaker 3: What they did was just bringing a bigger spotlight to
- 16:03Speaker 3: what was already overwhelmingly like if country couldn't have got
- 16:09Speaker 3: any bigger, the two of the five biggest pop stars
- 16:12Speaker 3: on Earth was like, Hey, we're gonna go do country
- 16:14Speaker 3: albums this year.
- 16:15Speaker 2: It's like it couldn't.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Man, I sound silly when I talk like this, but
- 16:20Speaker 3: I really think when you look back at this ten
- 16:23Speaker 3: years from now, twenty years from now, it's going to
- 16:26Speaker 3: just continue to stand the test of time more and more.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Like when you look back, we're talking about it in
- 16:31Speaker 3: real time and it's kind of blowing our mind. But
- 16:33Speaker 3: when they really look at this decade and what happened
- 16:35Speaker 3: with country music, and they're just like yeah, and Post
- 16:38Speaker 3: Malone dropped one of the biggest albums of the year
- 16:40Speaker 3: that year, and Beyonce it was a great album. Beyonce
- 16:45Speaker 3: got in the genre.
- 16:46Speaker 1: And just by the way, the biggest song of the
- 16:49Speaker 1: year is the country song bar.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Song, Yeah, well two years in a row now last
- 16:55Speaker 3: night was last year. The second biggest song of this
- 16:57Speaker 3: year was a Morgan Waham song.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Crazy Years in a Row. Speaking of the Bar song
- 17:03Speaker 2: boy shameless.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Plug here Shaboozy's coming on tour.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Ka Boozy is on tour with Jelly Rawl. I love you, Shaboozie.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Thank you Booze Man for picking my tour.
- 17:11Speaker 1: No, that's that's special. You can have the number one album,
- 17:13Speaker 1: the number one song on toy Man.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Dude, it's like Booze Man, he could have kind of
- 17:20Speaker 3: like Warren on this tour. He could they could have.
- 17:21Speaker 3: These are two guys that are white hot right now,
- 17:24Speaker 3: especially Booze.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I mean Booze is fish grease hot.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I think eighteen weeks number one.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It just broke the record for the you know what
- 17:31Speaker 2: I mean, like just took Little Knaves X record. I
- 17:34Speaker 2: mean crazy, It's unreal.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And uh, he could have did a headliner. He could
- 17:39Speaker 3: have went out with anybody. He was like, No, I'm
- 17:41Speaker 3: into that jelly Roll tour. It's just awesome.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Man.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Just who Shaboozy is though?
- 17:45Speaker 1: Man, So you reach out to Glorila on Twitter.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I love Glow.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You guys dropped the same day. She's got a great
- 17:52Speaker 1: body and work out. Glorious.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Yes, a lot of people. That's her government name, right,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I believe I think I think I'm serious. I think
- 18:00Speaker 2: I think or something. No, I think her government name
- 18:02Speaker 2: is Glorious.
- 18:03Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Hold on the coach is looking it up. I bet
- 18:06Speaker 2: I'm right, Tennessee.
- 18:08Speaker 1: That sounds about Gloria.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Oh, you was right. It's Hallelujah. That's the part. Always
- 18:15Speaker 2: I thought it was glorious, but it's because of Gloria Hallelujah.
- 18:17Speaker 1: That's what a what a name.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I love Glow, man, I'm such a fan of Glow.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I got to meet her at the iHeart Radio Wards.
- 18:26Speaker 3: I got to meet with the iHeart Radio Awards, and
- 18:28Speaker 3: I had me and my wife had already posted tiktoks
- 18:31Speaker 3: to the song.
- 18:33Speaker 2: You know, we're huge fans.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I love Memphis music, growing up three six Mafia and
- 18:38Speaker 3: they'm being involved in me so early, and I love
- 18:40Speaker 3: a little White and living in Memphis for a few years.
- 18:42Speaker 3: It's like, I just I'm always watching what's happening in
- 18:45Speaker 3: Memphis because you can count on a couple of artists
- 18:48Speaker 3: a year being in the top ten biggest artists in
- 18:52Speaker 3: hip hop every year being Memphis.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you're You're synonymous with Memphis forever. Man.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I'm proud of that too, man, because I love you know,
- 18:58Speaker 3: I love Memphis and Gloria's just awesome. Dude, and me
- 19:02Speaker 3: and you talked about this off camera, but I think
- 19:05Speaker 3: we should give her flowers like this on camera. She
- 19:07Speaker 3: is you feel a radiation of gratitude coming off of
- 19:12Speaker 3: her that is rare in the music business, like this,
- 19:15Speaker 3: real genuine, like every step forward for her as a win,
- 19:19Speaker 3: and she is just in the most graceful place. You
- 19:23Speaker 3: can almost tell. She's to the point now where even
- 19:25Speaker 3: the bullshit don't get to her no more. She don't
- 19:26Speaker 3: get wrapped up and none of that. She is just complete.
- 19:29Speaker 3: She is floating and you can feel that when you're around.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Her, you know what I mean.
- 19:32Speaker 3: It's like she just gives off this genuine gratitude and
- 19:35Speaker 3: the music is fucking incredible.
- 19:37Speaker 2: No, she's I just thought, so here's the story. I should.
- 19:39Speaker 2: I should. I'll tell you the story.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Me and Glowyd when we met, we immediately because immediately
- 19:45Speaker 3: people in her management camp, you know my relationship with
- 19:49Speaker 3: Memphis for all these years, we all kind of know
- 19:51Speaker 3: each other.
- 19:51Speaker 2: It's two degrees of separation where that is.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Anyway, So somebody hit me and me like, yo, I'm
- 19:54Speaker 3: such a such you remember back then I'm working with Glowe.
- 19:57Speaker 3: I want to get yall together, put us on a
- 19:58Speaker 3: text thread and U Every time either one of us
- 20:02Speaker 3: have been in La. We've hit the other one and
- 20:03Speaker 3: missed each other, but like a couple of days so
- 20:05Speaker 3: we were trying to do something anyways. It was like
- 20:09Speaker 3: if I look at our text thread right now, it's
- 20:11Speaker 3: a constant like I'm in La.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Where are you at?
- 20:13Speaker 3: When you hear and it's like a day later she'll
- 20:15Speaker 3: be like, ah, I'll be there Friday, and I'm like
- 20:17Speaker 3: I'm gone, yeah, Or it's like her being like, Yo,
- 20:19Speaker 3: I'm in La.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Where are you at? Swing By? You know what I mean.
- 20:21Speaker 3: So it's like we I know, we like each other
- 20:23Speaker 3: and we want to work together and she knows I'm
- 20:25Speaker 3: a huge fan, and uh, it's been really cool man.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I love that she was like, we got to do
- 20:30Speaker 2: this for Tennessee. I've me and my heart smile.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy, dude. The Memphis, whole Memphis thing is
- 20:34Speaker 1: just crazy. You know, Rest in Peace, Golf, you know
- 20:36Speaker 1: that whole case. Some of the details that's getting interesting,
- 20:39Speaker 1: how I mean it's like for you, like you're such
- 20:41Speaker 1: a fan of just everything, Like you know, I kind
- 20:45Speaker 1: of look at you as like, let's talk about.
- 20:47Speaker 3: The doll trail for two seconds. I know you don't
- 20:48Speaker 3: want me to get hung up. Here because you're my friend.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Don't want me to get in trouble. But all I
- 20:52Speaker 3: want to say about the Doll trail is I was
- 20:54Speaker 3: blown away that the doph trial opened and closed open
- 20:58Speaker 3: on a Monday, closed on a Friday, and had a
- 21:00Speaker 3: deliberated jury.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Return a verdict back in five days. And we have
- 21:06Speaker 2: been watching.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Jeffrey sit down in the the Cave County jail for years.
- 21:14Speaker 3: It is, man, I don't like to get in the
- 21:16Speaker 3: middle of stuff, and some of the stuff that he
- 21:19Speaker 3: was accused of is extremely heinous and if it's true,
- 21:21Speaker 3: he should be held accountable like any other criminal. But man,
- 21:26Speaker 3: it just seems like one of the greatest injustices I've
- 21:28Speaker 3: ever seen happening down there, man.
- 21:30Speaker 2: And it's getting to the point.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Man, I don't keV. I would tell you something, keV.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I don't talk about this much, Bubba. But there's something
- 21:39Speaker 3: I'm into. When I'm writing music, I don't listen to music,
- 21:42Speaker 3: so I listened to podcasts and it's somewhere between comedy
- 21:46Speaker 3: and true crime. And my preference of keeping up with
- 21:49Speaker 3: true crime isn't like the eerie stuff. I like watching
- 21:52Speaker 3: Law and Crime with Jesse on YouTube or familiar with
- 21:55Speaker 3: his channel, or I watched Bruce Rivers. I watch, like,
- 22:00Speaker 3: I got a few of these different kind of lawyer
- 22:03Speaker 3: things that I'll watch, these kind of lawyer things that
- 22:05Speaker 3: I'll go and then if I'm really interested in what
- 22:08Speaker 3: Jesse Webber's talking about, I'll just go watch that day
- 22:11Speaker 3: of the trial. I get that nerded out about like
- 22:15Speaker 3: active trials when they're happening. I think it's because my
- 22:18Speaker 3: mama used to watch them. She obsessed about them.
- 22:20Speaker 2: We were I've never talked about Yeah, I've never talked
- 22:23Speaker 2: about this one. What do you think?
- 22:24Speaker 1: What do you think about the thug thing? Because it
- 22:26Speaker 1: feels to me as if it's gonna get thrown out
- 22:27Speaker 1: at least it and then he's.
- 22:29Speaker 3: I think they're gonna I think they're just if it
- 22:31Speaker 3: doesn't get thrown out, then it actually goes in there,
- 22:33Speaker 3: they'll either find him guilty or the juri or hang.
- 22:36Speaker 3: But the problem becomes I think that I think that
- 22:40Speaker 3: he's gonna end up getting out of the case, and
- 22:41Speaker 3: I think he's going to have the biggest class action
- 22:45Speaker 3: lawsuit against the Cab County and American history. You know
- 22:48Speaker 3: what I mean, Because it's one hundred and twenty some
- 22:49Speaker 3: people on that case. I think the da overshot. I
- 22:53Speaker 3: think that she was I don't know what she was thinking.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I think she made too. She made a mountain out
- 22:57Speaker 3: of a mole hill. And there was some really really
- 23:00Speaker 3: really bad stuff that happened. There were bodies involved, There
- 23:02Speaker 3: was murders, murder for higher plots.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I mean it.
- 23:06Speaker 3: It had all the makings of what looked like it
- 23:08Speaker 3: should be a big thing.
- 23:10Speaker 2: My man, Hey, chow chy Bobby, we have we have
- 23:18Speaker 2: three dogs, Tim, will you take them out? Tim? Yeah? Hey,
- 23:29Speaker 2: what about scary gat mad today?
- 23:31Speaker 1: Because you think at that dog?
- 23:32Speaker 2: Why am I not going to l as like? Because
- 23:34Speaker 2: you got to watch the dogs. He did bring it down.
- 23:37Speaker 2: It was like he brought a dog, so you got
- 23:39Speaker 2: to stay back with your dog. The mean greets seemed
- 23:42Speaker 2: to go quick. Huh yeah, fifteen twenty. It felt great.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Kiss Cameron, Kiss, Shots to the Bunny. A pod swap
- 23:56Speaker 1: is coming soon, the pop swap, the pods swap. I
- 24:01Speaker 1: love that.
- 24:01Speaker 2: My wife immediately made a sexual cox swah.
- 24:03Speaker 1: She said, are we cock swapping? What does that mean?
- 24:13Speaker 2: Man? I love sex? Why am I? Yeah?
- 24:16Speaker 1: It is interesting it's interesting too, because like, do you
- 24:19Speaker 1: ever get into these. I find myself sometimes watching them,
- 24:23Speaker 1: but it's it's a little different because I know, I
- 24:25Speaker 1: know like a lot of these guys, so I try
- 24:27Speaker 1: not to. But like the like Hood documentaries that they
- 24:31Speaker 1: be putting out, where they like they'll tackle like the
- 24:34Speaker 1: Jacksonville hip hop scene, or how accurate.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Do you think some of that stuff is?
- 24:38Speaker 3: Who in that scene do you think actually does there?
- 24:41Speaker 3: Takes their time against their information.
- 24:42Speaker 1: That's the problem. I just had this conversation.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I will tell you who gets their paper who gets
- 24:46Speaker 2: the paperwork right. Jake gets the paperwork right. But I
- 24:52Speaker 2: have a lot of respect for him. He takes the
- 24:55Speaker 2: time to get it right.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yeah, And I don't know if I've ever heard him
- 24:58Speaker 1: be wrong. And if he feels like the a guy
- 25:00Speaker 1: that would have the humility to be like this, this
- 25:03Speaker 1: was no.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I think he jump on the grenade. If he was
- 25:05Speaker 2: really wrong, he strikes music of would immediately be like
- 25:08Speaker 2: those documents, you think.
- 25:09Speaker 1: He's I got no.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Man.
- 25:12Speaker 1: My old thing is.
- 25:13Speaker 2: You're in a tight spot here. You can't say you think.
- 25:15Speaker 1: No, no, no, I think that when you're I just had
- 25:19Speaker 1: this conversation. Think about this, like, we're creating a culture
- 25:25Speaker 1: of hip hop fans who don't look at hip hop
- 25:29Speaker 1: artists people. They look at them as criminal interests on
- 25:33Speaker 1: their favorite YouTube channel. Overall, what they're doing is they're
- 25:37Speaker 1: not even into the music. Like, let's be honest, right,
- 25:40Speaker 1: like a lot of the stories the music. Yeah, So
- 25:42Speaker 1: it's like when someone like Folio, you know, gets murdered,
- 25:47Speaker 1: going and looking at the comments on some of these
- 25:48Speaker 1: posts are like it's like there's just no humanity like
- 25:54Speaker 1: with some of these fans, they just don't give a fuck.
- 25:56Speaker 1: And so like with Chapel of Ross, like you know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I know he made like a three and a half
- 26:00Speaker 1: half hour long King Vaughan hip hop's first serial killer video.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I mean, I just if you can't prove that, that's
- 26:09Speaker 1: a pretty crazy thing to put on someone who's dead, right,
- 26:12Speaker 1: you know. So I don't know, man, I think that
- 26:15Speaker 1: you know, there a lot of that stuff is entertaining,
- 26:18Speaker 1: Like I think Trapple of Ross does a good job
- 26:19Speaker 1: of putting together entertaining content.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Now my wonder becomes is from a I think about
- 26:23Speaker 3: it as journalism, is that who is actually doing the
- 26:26Speaker 3: research to get it right? And it makes you want
- 26:28Speaker 3: and I don't know, I've watched some of Trapleo, of
- 26:30Speaker 3: Ross's stuff.
- 26:31Speaker 1: He's got entertaining stuff for sure.
- 26:33Speaker 3: It sucks, man, because I'm such a hip hop fan
- 26:35Speaker 3: to watch that part of hip hop. You know, you
- 26:38Speaker 3: gotta think in our era when Tupac got killed, there
- 26:45Speaker 3: wasn't a bigger news story in the world.
- 26:47Speaker 2: When Master J you can go on.
- 26:49Speaker 1: YouTube and watch. I mean, if Tupac died today, you know,
- 26:52Speaker 1: there'd be so much content to digest about it.
- 26:55Speaker 2: For sure, it probably his murder probably would have gotten solved.
- 26:58Speaker 3: No, they would have filmed it all the way to
- 26:59Speaker 3: where it happened. They've been able to track back every.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Video taken of that bends coming down the strip, or
- 27:04Speaker 2: people waving at each other. All that stuff would have
- 27:06Speaker 2: been able to happen in those moments.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Talk to me, man, you know we haven't really talked
- 27:10Speaker 1: about this. I've heard you talk about it, but I
- 27:13Speaker 1: know how how much of a big deal it is
- 27:16Speaker 1: to even have like someone like Eminemic knowledge who the
- 27:19Speaker 1: fuck you are, but to have Eminem sample your song
- 27:26Speaker 1: and to be able to perform with him, to be
- 27:30Speaker 1: able to just I mean, you've been performing, uh loose
- 27:34Speaker 1: yourself on stage, yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 2: For years and years and uh you know.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Can you Like I said, I know, I know you've
- 27:41Speaker 1: talked about it a lot, but I just feel like
- 27:43Speaker 1: it's such a you know, I just know how big
- 27:46Speaker 1: of a deal that was for you, man, So you know,
- 27:50Speaker 1: just yet like it's.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Getting weird weird, No, dude, Marshall's the who's the goat.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Anybody who says Eminem is.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Not the greatest rapper ever, it's just lie. Just you know,
- 28:01Speaker 3: they're they're allowing other factors.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah, if we're talking about the talent of.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Rapping, yes, I don't I would argue to say that,
- 28:12Speaker 3: A man, I don't know. There's a lot of we'll
- 28:15Speaker 3: never see nobody better. I think there will be. I
- 28:19Speaker 3: don't think that I'll live long enough.
- 28:21Speaker 2: To see it.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I know what I think lyrically, Yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 5: I think, you know, I think I think we've we've
- 28:27Speaker 5: had we've I always say, we're in the middle of
- 28:30Speaker 5: this era of Kendrick Lamar and it's almost like watching
- 28:34Speaker 5: Steph Curry where it's like, well, we just.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Kind of take advantage of Steph Curry and Lebron's on TV,
- 28:39Speaker 1: but like we we appreciate we lived through the Eminem
- 28:42Speaker 1: thing and we're still here, so we knew what it
- 28:44Speaker 1: was like. But I think during that era we weren't.
- 28:47Speaker 1: We didn't look at Eminem as the greatest of all time.
- 28:50Speaker 1: We just loved I.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Don't know the Kendrick moment. I don't know.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Kendrick's got a unique thing that's happening right now. That's
- 28:56Speaker 3: very Eminemish. As far as that dude's been putting out
- 28:59Speaker 3: hits a long time.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Now, for sure, it's been ten years.
- 29:04Speaker 3: He's a decade into putting out real, absolute solified bangers.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Eminem had a decade like that. I think that his
- 29:12Speaker 3: follow up to Not Like Us will be one of
- 29:15Speaker 3: the most important bodies of work. Whatever he does will
- 29:18Speaker 3: be super super important.
- 29:20Speaker 2: What is it? Also takes a lot of time off right,
- 29:22Speaker 2: he has big drops and big.
- 29:24Speaker 1: It takes time. Yeah, what is what is that like?
- 29:27Speaker 1: First initial? Is it a text? Is it a call
- 29:29Speaker 1: where you find out that a save me remix is
- 29:34Speaker 1: on the eminem out?
- 29:36Speaker 2: It's Paul Rosenberg. It's Paul Paul Rosenberg. Man, Paul Rosenberg
- 29:40Speaker 2: is the dude. So that's ms longtime manager. Anybody watching
- 29:43Speaker 2: that doesn't know, absolutely legend been with him day one,
- 29:46Speaker 2: built the entire business. Around.
- 29:48Speaker 3: It just one of the He'll go down as one
- 29:51Speaker 3: of the greatest ever, do you know what I mean?
- 29:53Speaker 3: And him and my manager John and nearly been friends
- 29:55Speaker 3: since they did Renegade together back, so they've been friends for.
- 30:01Speaker 2: All this time. I didn't know I was on M's
- 30:04Speaker 2: even radar.
- 30:04Speaker 3: I just assumed, you know that if I had a
- 30:06Speaker 3: chance to be on his radar would have been a
- 30:08Speaker 3: decade ago, whenever the Timnute Freestyle might have called it,
- 30:10Speaker 3: you know. But apparently he dug the record, and when
- 30:15Speaker 3: they initially called, they just said send it with no context.
- 30:19Speaker 3: And for this, fum, I don't need any context.
- 30:21Speaker 2: You tell me.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Anyone wants something, send them, send them, Send the vocals
- 30:27Speaker 3: we didn't use. He wants to go recop, you know
- 30:30Speaker 3: what I mean, Like send him everything.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Uh, And you know how rap is.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I thought he was gonna send me a verse and
- 30:36Speaker 3: I was just gonna have a remix of my phone,
- 30:38Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I like this, let me let me slide on. Man.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I just kind of you know the role, I'm gonna
- 30:43Speaker 2: get a Rul's gonna throw you one, you know him, Drake.
- 30:46Speaker 2: They've kind of waned these I've watched these guys do
- 30:49Speaker 2: it over the years.
- 30:50Speaker 3: It's like randomly, just throw somebody one, and I was like,
- 30:52Speaker 3: I might be finn to get one, and were turned
- 30:55Speaker 3: out even cooler than getting one. It turned out that
- 30:56Speaker 3: end up being for his album. Now, I didn't I
- 30:58Speaker 3: didn't hear much about it for a year or eight
- 31:01Speaker 3: months or whatever.
- 31:01Speaker 2: It was a long period of time.
- 31:03Speaker 3: I'm not good at judging time right now, because I
- 31:05Speaker 3: think I started this tour eight months ago and it
- 31:08Speaker 3: was six weeks ago. I don't know, I'm lost, but
- 31:11Speaker 3: it was definitely enough time that I had gotten sad.
- 31:14Speaker 3: That's the best way to put it. It was long enough
- 31:16Speaker 3: that I had come to the conclusion it wasn't gonna happen.
- 31:19Speaker 2: And then John calls me.
- 31:20Speaker 3: He's like, EM's, EM's gonna put this on his record,
- 31:24Speaker 3: Like for sure, because when I seen Houdini drop, I
- 31:27Speaker 3: was like maybe maybe, I was like, he might be
- 31:30Speaker 3: you know this, this could be real, right, because my
- 31:34Speaker 3: fear was he just didn't drop at all. But I
- 31:37Speaker 3: had a feeling that it was gonna happen, and it did.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Man doing the video with him, he's been nothing but
- 31:43Speaker 3: kind man, Yeah, nothing but kind. Yeah, funny, genuine all
- 31:47Speaker 3: that stuff.
- 31:49Speaker 1: How hard is it for you with your come up?
- 31:52Speaker 1: I always wonder this because I know that we are
- 31:56Speaker 1: in a very finicky industry and you've been a part
- 31:58Speaker 1: of this industry long before you household name. But to
- 32:02Speaker 1: have the success you've had over the last couple of
- 32:04Speaker 1: years and to probably have new interactions with people that
- 32:08Speaker 1: maybe didn't reply to DMS or big timed you, and
- 32:13Speaker 1: that is that like does that do you remember all?
- 32:17Speaker 1: And I don't think you're a petty guy, but is
- 32:18Speaker 1: that like you ever?
- 32:19Speaker 2: Like?
- 32:20Speaker 1: But I also know you don't forget, so like, does
- 32:22Speaker 1: that happen a lot for you?
- 32:24Speaker 2: No? I remember like.
- 32:27Speaker 3: The couple of like booking agents that really passed on
- 32:29Speaker 3: me that like genuinely just like took the meeting and
- 32:33Speaker 3: you just never heard back from and then somebody else
- 32:35Speaker 3: come and says they passed Right, those you kind of
- 32:38Speaker 3: don't forget because you know you're so desperate that those
- 32:41Speaker 3: meetings meet everything right. But I also didn't hold much
- 32:44Speaker 3: of a grudge though, because I man, I guess that's
- 32:47Speaker 3: how I still look at stuff, keV. Is that even
- 32:49Speaker 3: then I would go into those rooms like I don't
- 32:52Speaker 3: care how this meeting goes. The fact that I was
- 32:53Speaker 3: invited here, lets me know that it was like to
- 32:56Speaker 3: me an erow this old fashioned phrase that the arrows
- 32:59Speaker 3: are all always pointing us in the right direction. You know,
- 33:02Speaker 3: you just got to look for him. It's like these
- 33:04Speaker 3: were a rows for me, you know what I mean.
- 33:06Speaker 3: So anytime I got big shot at the fact that
- 33:08Speaker 3: I was close enough to something to get big shot.
- 33:10Speaker 2: At, it was like I'm cooking. I'm cooking.
- 33:13Speaker 3: I thought about me and Paul talking about Paul Rosenberg.
- 33:15Speaker 3: I met Paul Rosenberg when Yellow Wolf was getting ready
- 33:19Speaker 3: to put out Love Story.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Okay, so this is like twenty fourteen, fifteen mm.
- 33:24Speaker 3: It's probably not right, around a decade ago, and he's
- 33:26Speaker 3: it's way before right, probably a year seven eight months
- 33:29Speaker 3: for the album came out. He was playing some of
- 33:31Speaker 3: the music for like a private Grammy pre listening party
- 33:35Speaker 3: for Interscope, and Paul was there and I got blackout
- 33:40Speaker 3: drunk on whistle Big never Forget It. And you know,
- 33:46Speaker 3: I met Paul then, and that's but I'm Yellow's plus one, right,
- 33:52Speaker 3: And even then in those moments, I was like, man,
- 33:54Speaker 3: I'm on the right path, Like if this dude likes
- 33:57Speaker 3: me enough to invite me to this party and then
- 33:59Speaker 3: introduce me to this dude. Like this is more a
- 34:02Speaker 3: Roe's point in the right way, you know.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I feel like Love Story was so ahead of its
- 34:07Speaker 1: time that if that album came out in twenty twenty four,
- 34:11Speaker 1: it's got a couple of number one records on it.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Dude, it is that it still had a couple of
- 34:18Speaker 2: really big reals.
- 34:19Speaker 1: No, of course. I mean I think I think, uh,
- 34:20Speaker 1: I know it's gone as platinum or gold. I think
- 34:24Speaker 1: it was American you on there.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I think that was a really weird time for Oh
- 34:30Speaker 3: dude had the eminem record on there, my best.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Friend yeah, yeah, out of my veins, that one, and
- 34:36Speaker 1: the one about about his baby Mama.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, was empty Bottles on that record. Was the next?
- 34:40Speaker 1: Empty Bottles was on that record? Yeah?
- 34:42Speaker 3: Man, so many has so many big records. I think
- 34:45Speaker 3: that it fell in a weird time. It was somewhere
- 34:47Speaker 3: between the tail end of digital. Did you were streaming?
- 34:52Speaker 3: Wasn't what streaming is yet?
- 34:55Speaker 1: And and and and the other, the old school way
- 34:57Speaker 1: was dying off?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Was it was all but dead?
- 35:00Speaker 1: It was weird. It was a weird limbo it was a.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Super weird time to be putting out because remember Till
- 35:05Speaker 3: It's Gone got picked up by the last scene of
- 35:07Speaker 3: Sons of Anarchy.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Which made that such a bid I remember that, Yeah, I.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Remember said at the house, watching and going this dude's
- 35:12Speaker 3: fixing out the biggest moment ever.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I could feel it right then.
- 35:15Speaker 1: For sure.
- 35:15Speaker 3: You felt it in Nashville though, Dude him and Clever
- 35:17Speaker 3: as DJ running around town on Harley's long hair. It
- 35:21Speaker 3: was just such a different feeling that was happening around
- 35:24Speaker 3: what he was doing in that moment. But I think
- 35:26Speaker 3: it was just a very weird time to be putting
- 35:28Speaker 3: out work. It's like buying houses or selling them.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Right now, yo, you are the We kind of went
- 35:37Speaker 1: over some of these numbers last night, the amount of
- 35:40Speaker 1: physical copies you're actually selling, the true album sales, which
- 35:43Speaker 1: to me means way more than streams. Right, streams can
- 35:46Speaker 1: be manipulated. Streams could be background music. People could throw
- 35:49Speaker 1: something on while they're at the barbershop. Shit just plays.
- 35:54Speaker 1: If it isn't one hundred thousand, it's close to one
- 35:55Speaker 1: hundred thousand actual physical copies of this album were bought,
- 36:00Speaker 1: which is insane. It's it's it's almost unheard of. I
- 36:04Speaker 1: feel like I feel like maybe Nikki still does that,
- 36:06Speaker 1: but at least, you know, in the genre that I'm
- 36:09Speaker 1: familiar with, it's pretty it's pretty damn near unheard of.
- 36:14Speaker 1: You've grown this like fan base through obviously being unapologetically
- 36:20Speaker 1: yourself but speaking for so many people who don't have
- 36:22Speaker 1: a voice. But I also feel like you have this
- 36:24Speaker 1: other side of your fan base that they just love you.
- 36:28Speaker 1: They're not even like they like the music's cool, but
- 36:31Speaker 1: they saw you on a podcast, right they saw you.
- 36:35Speaker 1: They just love you. They saw you on you know,
- 36:37Speaker 1: going and speaking to Congress. Just explain to me that
- 36:41Speaker 1: connection with the fans that is, you know, it's anonymally
- 36:46Speaker 1: in music right now, to have one hundred thousand physical
- 36:49Speaker 1: copies moved in seven days, that's fucking insane.
- 36:51Speaker 2: No, that's great, man.
- 36:52Speaker 3: It's it's a support in a way that I couldn't
- 36:54Speaker 3: ever dream that of felt. It's like overwhelming, honestly, you know,
- 37:01Speaker 3: it's I don't know, man, it's crazy just having to
- 37:03Speaker 3: me me and you talked about it too, and we
- 37:05Speaker 3: talked about it off camera, but I'll say it on
- 37:06Speaker 3: camera too. Is that I'm all I'm the grass is
- 37:09Speaker 3: greener for me in that scenario where it's like the
- 37:11Speaker 3: streaming side though, is such a big consumption side in
- 37:14Speaker 3: the new world, because I guess I'm still nervous. I
- 37:17Speaker 3: hope that the CDs are translating to people caring about
- 37:20Speaker 3: the music because we've watched the street hustlers. I know
- 37:23Speaker 3: dudes that have sold tens of thousands of CDs that
- 37:26Speaker 3: couldn't sell seven tickets. So the real measure to me
- 37:30Speaker 3: of an artist's success truly is if people show up
- 37:34Speaker 3: to the building and see on.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Four feet away from the stage.
- 37:37Speaker 2: That's it. It's like to me, that's the tail tale.
- 37:39Speaker 2: You sold out?
- 37:40Speaker 1: How many people in Wichita, Kansas on a Tuesday?
- 37:42Speaker 2: Yeah for sure, thirteen fourteen thousand.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Cool, great show. We're gonna do it again the night
- 37:47Speaker 3: of Springfield. But it's gonna be gonna be a ball
- 37:48Speaker 3: down here in Springfield.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Is the like the people will they will they come?
- 37:52Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah? Is that? Can you build a tour around it? And?
- 37:55Speaker 3: Uh, you know that's what to me whenever I look,
- 37:58Speaker 3: and normally the top two or three albums can normally
- 38:01Speaker 3: tell that road Wave is a huge touring act.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Charlie is a huge touring act. You know what I mean,
- 38:05Speaker 2: it's a but that's where that's where the rubber really
- 38:08Speaker 2: meets the road is if you can get somebody to
- 38:09Speaker 2: buy a ticket, because listen, man, I tell people, man,
- 38:12Speaker 2: that's not a ticket stub. That's a soul. That's a story,
- 38:16Speaker 2: and that's you get thirteen thousand stories. That's a babysitter,
- 38:20Speaker 2: that's gas money, that's that's a rough day of work.
- 38:24Speaker 3: I took a day off and drove in, you know
- 38:26Speaker 3: what I mean. That's all big stuff. So it's like,
- 38:28Speaker 3: to me, that's the real tale.
- 38:30Speaker 1: You've had so many interesting live moments in terms of
- 38:35Speaker 1: just your career obviously, many gatherings of the Juggalos opening
- 38:38Speaker 1: up for insane clown posse, being in a van with
- 38:40Speaker 1: highlight running around this country. What uh you know? Because
- 38:46Speaker 1: how many tickets total will this tour move by the end?
- 38:50Speaker 2: It's it's seven hundred thousand.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Seven hundred thousand. That's fucking crazy to here. I love
- 38:55Speaker 1: as well. What was like for you crazy? Talk to
- 39:00Speaker 1: me about the other the other side of your Tory
- 39:03Speaker 1: career where you were in the van and I think
- 39:05Speaker 1: you guys are trying to track down the van, Bertha, We're.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Trying to find that old van right now. We sticked
- 39:10Speaker 2: our guy on it.
- 39:10Speaker 1: But like for you, like to have seen it on
- 39:13Speaker 1: all ends of the spectrum, like take me back, and
- 39:16Speaker 1: you kind of shared a story about like a rough
- 39:19Speaker 1: a rough life show. You had what was like kind
- 39:21Speaker 1: of your your valley of being on the road as
- 39:25Speaker 1: an independent artist trying to make it before people gave
- 39:27Speaker 1: a fuck.
- 39:28Speaker 3: I told a story about whenever we played the Boardwalking Sacramento,
- 39:31Speaker 3: when there was like seven people or something that showed up.
- 39:34Speaker 3: But the one I told you that was just as
- 39:36Speaker 3: funny was we played the Please called the Electric Factory
- 39:39Speaker 3: Philly right in Philly, right, And I'm open enough for ICP.
- 39:42Speaker 3: And I'm one of four. So what one of four
- 39:45Speaker 3: means is there's four acts. I cps the fourth act.
- 39:48Speaker 3: I'm the first act, which means I go first of
- 39:50Speaker 3: all the four two as mad Child. Three is the
- 39:53Speaker 3: Mafia six okay, which is three six Mafia their side group, Yeah,
- 39:57Speaker 3: their side group short of Juicy.
- 39:59Speaker 2: And and so I'm one of four in Philly at
- 40:03Speaker 2: the Electric Factory.
- 40:04Speaker 3: And every night what I would do is because there
- 40:06Speaker 3: was like a change over time between acts, fifteen or
- 40:09Speaker 3: twenty minutes, I would say the last song. I would go, hey, y'all,
- 40:12Speaker 3: I got inside information here, such as Smad Child's not
- 40:15Speaker 3: coming on stage for twenty minutes.
- 40:17Speaker 2: So for the next twenty minutes until his song.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Starts, I want to be back at the merch booth,
- 40:21Speaker 3: signed stuff, taking pictures, smoking joints, whatever y'all want to do.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Just come hang. You know.
- 40:25Speaker 3: It's early, right, And uh I come off stage and
- 40:28Speaker 3: I'm like trying to get through the crowd to the
- 40:30Speaker 3: you know thing and normally have to put my hood
- 40:31Speaker 3: up and kind of get there, and I'll take a
- 40:32Speaker 3: picture or two on the way and uh man, I'm
- 40:35Speaker 3: looking people straight and the eye nothing. I'm walking right
- 40:38Speaker 3: by people. I just remember I just performed for this
- 40:40Speaker 3: whole crowd.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:41Speaker 2: And I go to my merch moove and not a
- 40:44Speaker 2: soul is in there, cav not a listen there's and
- 40:47Speaker 2: it's so packed that people are standing like they have
- 40:49Speaker 2: looked my front of my merch booth has become a
- 40:52Speaker 2: common area where like people would come together and exchange
- 40:55Speaker 2: cigarettes or like put stuff in a bag.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Even you were sitting there.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody, I'm standing there like you know, like my
- 41:01Speaker 2: little stuff behind me. You know what I'm saying, I'm
- 41:03Speaker 2: selling my little T shirts. It's like nothing. It was
- 41:07Speaker 2: so bad. I watched I watched, Uh, I watched.
- 41:11Speaker 3: ICP from front of house, but not like front of house.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I meant like front of house, like you know, I
- 41:15Speaker 3: just went out there. Yeah, I just stood next to
- 41:17Speaker 3: a guy. You know what I'm saying that look annoyed
- 41:19Speaker 3: that I was taking up faces.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Just watch those show.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Those are those stick with you too, because those are
- 41:24Speaker 3: the nights you get in the car and really be like,
- 41:27Speaker 3: maybe I'm driven. You're looking for the arrows, and that's
- 41:30Speaker 3: a night where you don't get one.
- 41:31Speaker 2: You like you getting.
- 41:32Speaker 3: In fact, arrows go the other way. Net negatives another negative.
- 41:36Speaker 1: That's funny, Yo. I wanted to you know you and
- 41:39Speaker 1: uh whether I don't know if you know this, but uh,
- 41:42Speaker 1: you know your daughter and my son have something in common.
- 41:44Speaker 1: They're both as as I heard you describe it on
- 41:47Speaker 1: a podcast Victims of Drug Addiction. Because my son's mom,
- 41:52Speaker 1: her whole life was just I mean, it was like
- 41:53Speaker 1: a battle to keep her sober. She left him when
- 41:57Speaker 1: he was like two for like a year, and then
- 42:03Speaker 1: at the age of ten, I decided to pull the
- 42:06Speaker 1: plug on trying to keep the bullshit together. He hasn't
- 42:09Speaker 1: seen it. She hasn't seen him. He's nineteen. She hadn't
- 42:13Speaker 1: seen since he was ten. Wow, but you know, my
- 42:17Speaker 1: wife comes into his life when when he's eleven, and
- 42:21Speaker 1: you know his mom now. Yeah, but you know, I
- 42:25Speaker 1: wanted to talk to you, like, how do you deal
- 42:28Speaker 1: with you know? And I'm kind of asking for advice
- 42:30Speaker 1: here because my son's nineteen. He's a great kid, you know,
- 42:33Speaker 1: just graduated high school, he's going to college. But I
- 42:35Speaker 1: feel like sometimes I see him wearing that that unresolved
- 42:40Speaker 1: mom shit.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah, well he is. There's no way he's not.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I mean even the toughest, smartest kids that are the
- 42:47Speaker 3: most grounded and understanding, when you go through something like that,
- 42:51Speaker 3: you can't help but wonder what's going on. And you
- 42:54Speaker 3: also got to keep in mind that no matter how
- 42:55Speaker 3: smart he is, that brain still developing. Yeah, for sure,
- 42:57Speaker 3: you know what I mean, he's still even though he's nineteen,
- 42:59Speaker 3: he's an he can buy a cigarette now.
- 43:01Speaker 2: It's not to me. He's not no adult. I wasn't
- 43:03Speaker 2: an adulted eighteen.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I mean I had him when I was eighteen.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, so you know that feeling.
- 43:08Speaker 3: So it's like, I don't know, man, I would I
- 43:11Speaker 3: would encourage you to encourage him, or I'll encourage him
- 43:16Speaker 3: to reach out and seek real help about that, you
- 43:19Speaker 3: know what I mean. There is a book called.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Children of Drug Addict Parents or something like that, children
- 43:29Speaker 2: of Alcoholic Parents.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I'm just not didn't you know whatever, But I normally
- 43:34Speaker 3: would have that book on the top of my head.
- 43:35Speaker 3: But I've read it before. It's a great book. It
- 43:37Speaker 3: helped me a lot, just like getting in tune with
- 43:40Speaker 3: that and understanding and one him just acknowledging it, that'll
- 43:43Speaker 3: be a good step for him just to kind of
- 43:45Speaker 3: be like, yeah, man, it does bother me a little
- 43:47Speaker 3: bit that, you know.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Do you have to deal with that with Bailey at all?
- 43:49Speaker 1: Sometimes where you got kind of like, you know, because
- 43:52Speaker 1: to get your you were forced to get your shit together.
- 43:55Speaker 2: And I still had the moments would be where I
- 43:57Speaker 2: can tell its way and on and we still allow
- 43:59Speaker 2: her to talk. Yeah, and I allowed she I allow
- 44:02Speaker 2: her to have space to feel however she feels about
- 44:04Speaker 2: her mother. That's a big one because sometimes she's like, yo,
- 44:07Speaker 2: I kind of want to talk to her and I
- 44:09Speaker 2: want to figure this out, and I'm like cool. And
- 44:10Speaker 2: then sometimes she's like, I never want to talk to
- 44:12Speaker 2: that woman again, and I'm like, I respect that decision too,
- 44:16Speaker 2: But either decision you make, I think it's important that
- 44:18Speaker 2: you continue to get help about it. So, you know,
- 44:21Speaker 2: she goes and Bay, he's been in therapy for a
- 44:23Speaker 2: couple of years about it.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Right, Well, that's important.
- 44:25Speaker 3: They yeah, well, it just will help him to understand
- 44:30Speaker 3: why he thinks the way he thinks about things. And
- 44:34Speaker 3: I would hate for it to affect his relationships later
- 44:38Speaker 3: in life by not getting ahead of it now.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's like having you know, like the way
- 44:44Speaker 1: you had Bunny, the way I have my wife. It's like, man,
- 44:47Speaker 1: I don't know where. I don't know if I was
- 44:49Speaker 1: able to even handle like the level of like fatherhood
- 44:52Speaker 1: that came with trying to make it while also keeping
- 44:56Speaker 1: this kid right on the right tracks. You know what
- 44:59Speaker 1: I'm saying? So deep?
- 45:00Speaker 3: No, that's deep. Thanks for sharing that. I'll get the
- 45:02Speaker 3: name of that book though. Man, that book is it's
- 45:04Speaker 3: it's incredible.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Man.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I remember when I first looked at it, I was like,
- 45:07Speaker 3: this doesn't look like children of adult children. Of adult
- 45:12Speaker 3: alcoholics or something like that, adult children of our adult
- 45:15Speaker 3: children of alcoholics, is it?
- 45:17Speaker 2: Or something like that.
- 45:18Speaker 1: You're on this health kick right now? How many I
- 45:20Speaker 1: think I heard you say you lost about sixty pounds?
- 45:23Speaker 1: Hundred pounds? Well, congratulations, I'm at a legit hundred.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I'm at a legit hundred from my like kind of
- 45:31Speaker 3: a little bit more than a hundred from what my
- 45:32Speaker 3: biggest was. I'm down eighty or ninety this year.
- 45:35Speaker 1: It's amazing. I remember the last time, because I remember
- 45:39Speaker 1: was about twenty sixteen, seventeen, you had lost a lot
- 45:42Speaker 1: of weight.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Yep, and back this time I got to keep it off.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Well, you know, it's it's crazy because I was talking
- 45:50Speaker 1: with Big X the Plug about this because I was like, hey, man,
- 45:52Speaker 1: like you're like Big X the Plug, but like we
- 45:56Speaker 1: also want you to be here, right. Do you worry
- 46:00Speaker 1: about like your image of what the public knows you
- 46:02Speaker 1: as being wrapped into being like a heavier guy.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Man, I'm gonna lose the weight and I'm gonna break
- 46:08Speaker 3: the curse.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Because there is a quote.
- 46:11Speaker 3: Actor curse of actors who lost weight that couldn't find work,
- 46:15Speaker 3: but there's also actors that lost weight and found more work,
- 46:18Speaker 3: you know what I mean. But if that is a
- 46:20Speaker 3: quote unquote curse, I'm gonna break it. Me and my
- 46:23Speaker 3: wife actually talked about this real deep one night recently,
- 46:25Speaker 3: because she she knows whenever I get the eye of
- 46:28Speaker 3: the tiger in me, she's seen it before. Now we've
- 46:30Speaker 3: been together long enough that she's like, oh, I know
- 46:33Speaker 3: my husband, he's not gonna stop to his weights off,
- 46:35Speaker 3: like when he really dials in this, dude's fixing it
- 46:38Speaker 3: completely shed this And she was like, well, you know,
- 46:40Speaker 3: do you have a plan sustainable to keep it off?
- 46:42Speaker 3: She just being a good woman, you know what I mean,
- 46:43Speaker 3: just having real conversations with me, And she goes, are
- 46:48Speaker 3: you worried about any criticism?
- 46:52Speaker 2: You know?
- 46:52Speaker 3: And I was like a little bit. I was like,
- 46:53Speaker 3: I know that, I know how this works. Like they're
- 46:57Speaker 3: gonna even though I'm losing the weight in front of everybody,
- 46:59Speaker 3: They're still going to like, there's still gonna be some
- 47:01Speaker 3: people like, well, of course he took the shot.
- 47:03Speaker 2: I never took a shot. Yeah.
- 47:05Speaker 3: It's like it's like they're not not that I'm against
- 47:07Speaker 3: those in picks. My doctor thinks it's great. I'm just
- 47:08Speaker 3: personally not. I'm afraid of stuff like that.
- 47:11Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 47:12Speaker 3: I did drugs for so long. I like putting weird
- 47:13Speaker 3: shit in my body on one fair enough.
- 47:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 47:16Speaker 3: But I'm not saying I won't do it. But you
- 47:18Speaker 3: know it's I can still see her. I can imagine
- 47:20Speaker 3: that I'm about another seventy eighty pound. I got another
- 47:23Speaker 3: goal to lose a lot more weight. And they'll come
- 47:24Speaker 3: a point where they'll start saying I look sick, you know,
- 47:27Speaker 3: and I'm cool with I'm just me. And her talked
- 47:29Speaker 3: about it, and she was so honest. She was like, good,
- 47:30Speaker 3: I just wanted to make sure it didn't hurt your feelings.
- 47:32Speaker 2: I was like, no, I'm not.
- 47:34Speaker 3: The difference is I think a lot of people make
- 47:36Speaker 3: the mistake of going and hiding and getting healthy and
- 47:40Speaker 3: then coming out healthy, you know what I mean.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Where it's like instead of doing it in front of everybody,
- 47:46Speaker 1: so they see that.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Like watch the daily rolls and I put them on
- 47:48Speaker 3: my Instagram every day. It's like just what we're doing
- 47:51Speaker 3: in life. And I'm not going to be one of
- 47:54Speaker 3: them weird people that loses a bunch of weight and
- 47:56Speaker 3: it becomes my identity.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Neither right, like I feel better.
- 47:59Speaker 3: I'm gonna talk about it because it's going to always
- 48:01Speaker 3: be the elephant in the room. But it's like, I
- 48:03Speaker 3: feel better, I'm thinking clearer, and uh, it's just it's
- 48:07Speaker 3: one part of what I do every day is I
- 48:09Speaker 3: now eat better, I fight my my food addiction demon,
- 48:12Speaker 3: and I work out. It's just but it's still makes
- 48:15Speaker 3: very little of who I am.
- 48:16Speaker 2: As a human.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Yeah, only making who I am as a human better.
- 48:20Speaker 3: I'm only becoming a better human as I'm getting healthier.
- 48:23Speaker 1: What for you like talk about just like because you know,
- 48:26Speaker 1: for anybody who's friends with you, you've always been at
- 48:30Speaker 1: a recreational relationship with certain substances. But for you, like,
- 48:37Speaker 1: you know, just being around you the last like six
- 48:38Speaker 1: seven months, I've noticed like you're like you've like calmed
- 48:40Speaker 1: down a lot when it comes to I mean obviously
- 48:42Speaker 1: we'll drink sometimes, but was there like a breaking point
- 48:45Speaker 1: for you where you're like, yo, I gotta kind of
- 48:47Speaker 1: kick back a little.
- 48:48Speaker 2: I could not drink the way I was drinking and
- 48:50Speaker 2: keep up with this schedule.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Yeah, because dude, you're the tequila god.
- 48:55Speaker 2: I drink. I don't drink a lot, but when I
- 48:57Speaker 2: drink I drink a lot.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Sure, I am legend with people. It gets it is crazy,
- 49:04Speaker 3: but yeah, I just couldn't drink. I just man, I'm
- 49:06Speaker 3: so like.
- 49:08Speaker 2: I have one. I started implementing a little like adult
- 49:11Speaker 2: forty year old rules.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Now that are like, I don't drink unless I have
- 49:14Speaker 3: a full day off the next day, just in case
- 49:16Speaker 3: it's the way I like to drink and I haven't.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Had a full day off.
- 49:21Speaker 1: It.
- 49:22Speaker 3: Yeah, backed up to a night that it made sense
- 49:24Speaker 3: to drink in a long time night or something like
- 49:29Speaker 3: we were we were thinking about it, like the iHeartRadio
- 49:32Speaker 3: Awards was like one of those magical nights where we
- 49:34Speaker 3: won an award that we're celebrating and had nothing to
- 49:38Speaker 3: do the next day.
- 49:38Speaker 2: It was like.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Score, we know we got blacked out that night.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Buba for sure, because when I like.
- 49:46Speaker 1: That was wasn't that the name you fell in the pond?
- 49:48Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 49:49Speaker 3: I fear of the hotel splashed around? No, It's like, dude,
- 49:52Speaker 3: those are the like if I'm gonna go out and party,
- 49:54Speaker 3: I party that way and the next day it falls
- 49:57Speaker 3: real recovery from Yeah, I gotta drink certain water, drink
- 50:01Speaker 3: eat food, get in asana, getting I be I'm old.
- 50:05Speaker 3: I just don't have it no more. So it's like,
- 50:06Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm just more I'm more in love
- 50:08Speaker 3: with the pace of.
- 50:09Speaker 2: The work I'm doing right now, we're working at a
- 50:11Speaker 2: way different pace. Man.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy too, man, just to see the production,
- 50:15Speaker 1: Like how many people are employed on this tour? One
- 50:17Speaker 1: hundred and fifty something that's insane.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Twenty two trucks, sixteen buses. Bro, Like, it's crazy, huge production.
- 50:26Speaker 1: That's so crazy, so fun though, Like so many people's
- 50:29Speaker 1: livelihoods are in this building and connected to you going
- 50:32Speaker 1: on that stage and doing your You're out, And that's.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Not counting the one hundred plus locals every night, another
- 50:39Speaker 3: one hundred vendors.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Right, you know what I mean. So that shit's crazy.
- 50:43Speaker 1: I'm curious.
- 50:44Speaker 2: I know.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Really, you got your bar coming yes in Nashville, which
- 50:48Speaker 1: is I can't wait to like how far along is
- 50:51Speaker 1: that process?
- 50:51Speaker 3: Oh it's there, dude, they went the other day. It's
- 50:53Speaker 3: framed out, it's ready. We should be open top of
- 50:56Speaker 3: the year sometime early.
- 50:57Speaker 1: So you already got the least together and all that.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Oh no, at least, I mean, dude, this building is
- 51:01Speaker 3: being has been getting rebuilt for the last eight months.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Oh wow from scratch.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, this has been a.
- 51:09Speaker 3: They kept the frame of the building because it was
- 51:10Speaker 3: an old concrete built in the nineteen twenties concrete style,
- 51:15Speaker 3: but then they just framed wood inside of it. But
- 51:16Speaker 3: she had no completely remodeled the whole thing. Really really
- 51:19Speaker 3: did it the right way.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Yo. This guy and this company we're with is like
- 51:23Speaker 2: really really good at what they do. Are you are you?
- 51:26Speaker 2: You know them from Phoenix? You know what I'm working with?
- 51:28Speaker 2: Right the bottle blinde? Oh ship? Yeah, they got a
- 51:31Speaker 2: great place. Got they got a bunch of great spots. Yeah,
- 51:34Speaker 2: I'm working.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Oh that's gonna be crazy and they're gonna be great
- 51:36Speaker 1: to put everywhere.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Yeah that God? Will you know what I mean? Hey, hey, holler,
- 51:42Speaker 2: I'd love to expand. I love it.
- 51:44Speaker 3: Man, let me tell you, I want to touch this.
- 51:45Speaker 3: For a second, I said it. It kind of glossed over
- 51:47Speaker 3: and on, Joe. But I'm the first.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Uh.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Of course, Steve and his son BT owned most of
- 51:54Speaker 3: Broadway and their locals. They're real Nashville people, like for
- 51:56Speaker 3: real Steve Smith and BT. But as a as an artist,
- 52:01Speaker 3: I'm the first real Nashville guy to get a bar.
- 52:04Speaker 2: It's a big deal. Man.
- 52:05Speaker 3: It's like, I don't know, I don't feel entitled to
- 52:08Speaker 3: very Broadway. Yeah, I don't feel entitled to very much.
- 52:11Speaker 3: But like being a local, It's like.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I feel like I feel local.
- 52:15Speaker 3: That was my only complaint when I didn't think I'd
- 52:17Speaker 3: ever be in the runnings for one. I'd be like,
- 52:18Speaker 3: let Chris Young get one or Cadillac three or Ernest Like,
- 52:21Speaker 3: let a local get one.
- 52:22Speaker 1: I mean, you've done the the opry, You've got a
- 52:25Speaker 1: bar on Broadway. I think the next thing is owning
- 52:27Speaker 1: a piece of the Titans.
- 52:28Speaker 2: I would love to own. Hey, miss Samy, Me and
- 52:31Speaker 2: Miss Amy, your friends even hang out with the other day.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Just give me a little skin in the game.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Amy, I'll give you some money and I'll stay out
- 52:38Speaker 3: of the business completely. Miss Amy, I just love to
- 52:41Speaker 3: you know what's crazy I talk about that. I mean,
- 52:43Speaker 3: the only way it happens is if she'd ever let
- 52:45Speaker 3: me buy into the team, and I'd take I.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Would take whatever she'd give you. But of course I
- 52:49Speaker 2: would have never dreamed of that. Man. But Eric Church
- 52:52Speaker 2: is kind of a mentor to me.
- 52:54Speaker 3: And Eric Church owns a piece of the Charlotte Hornets.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Wow, like a real piece.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Wow.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:03Speaker 3: And it's a true story. And I heard Kenny Chesney
- 53:06Speaker 3: is trying to work out a deal with a with
- 53:09Speaker 3: his dream. I think has been always work out with
- 53:10Speaker 3: mister craft. Something for the Patriots from a lifelong Patriots
- 53:13Speaker 3: fan got.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Me So Tom brook Brady just brought up a piece
- 53:16Speaker 1: of the fucking Raiders.
- 53:18Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. Tom got him a little piece.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Give me that little deal, you know what I mean?
- 53:21Speaker 3: They got him a deal where he's not allowed to nothing.
- 53:23Speaker 3: He just got a little piece of the team. And
- 53:25Speaker 3: that's it, you know what I mean.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Yo. I know there was a lot of big dream
- 53:28Speaker 2: big dreams.
- 53:29Speaker 1: I know there was a lot of features that almost
- 53:31Speaker 1: happened for the album. Is there anybody who you weren't
- 53:36Speaker 1: able to because you have some great features on this album,
- 53:38Speaker 1: Hawsey Russ, Uh shit, I'm forgetting Skylar Gray, Ernest, anybody, Yeah,
- 53:46Speaker 1: anybody who you're like ya, I got this. I got this,
- 53:50Speaker 1: Like there's two or three of these motherfuckers. I just
- 53:52Speaker 1: got to do something with that. Just it just didn't
- 53:54Speaker 1: work out this time.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Oh, I mean for me, just like my list of
- 53:59Speaker 3: people out want to work with or I still want
- 54:02Speaker 3: to work with, like Miley really bad. She's from Tennessee?
- 54:05Speaker 3: What not from Tennessee? Always I like make her claim Tennessee.
- 54:08Speaker 3: I don't know she probably you know, but I know
- 54:10Speaker 3: that they have Tennessee roots. Of course Sissa. I think
- 54:13Speaker 3: Siss is like everything about her Lizzo just what they
- 54:17Speaker 3: them is people. And you know what I mean, she
- 54:22Speaker 3: is so special. She is such a gift from God. Man,
- 54:26Speaker 3: she is so grounded and the music is so.
- 54:30Speaker 2: I hey, how are you.
- 54:36Speaker 1: There's a special delivery? Sorry sorry, A nice a nice
- 54:39Speaker 1: young lady.
- 54:40Speaker 3: But and you know she's Sciss is great also because
- 54:44Speaker 3: of outside of the writing, the music, the rollouts are crazy,
- 54:50Speaker 3: the labels I mean, but.
- 54:54Speaker 2: Man, her artistry is just different. Right.
- 54:55Speaker 3: I love when you know people are putting in the
- 54:57Speaker 3: work and you can't watch Sissa do anything thing live,
- 55:00Speaker 3: whether it's an award show or an actual concert without
- 55:03Speaker 3: it just reeking of her putting tens.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Or hundreds of hours into into it. Yeah you know
- 55:09Speaker 2: what I mean. Like not the craft itself, you can
- 55:11Speaker 2: tell she spent tens of thousands there, but I mean
- 55:14Speaker 2: in individual you see her on an award show, like
- 55:17Speaker 2: the Grammys, and you're like, dude, I bet she spent
- 55:19Speaker 2: one hundred hours working on this, you know what I mean,
- 55:22Speaker 2: You're like real hours stand here and working on the court,
- 55:27Speaker 2: you know.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Like I mean, I think we waited for five years.
- 55:30Speaker 3: For albums and she don't miss man, because if you
- 55:33Speaker 3: take that long to put out an album. You know
- 55:36Speaker 3: this in our business is inside baseball right here. But
- 55:38Speaker 3: there's an old joke that says, uh, the longer you sit,
- 55:42Speaker 3: the bigger the hit, you know what I mean, Like,
- 55:44Speaker 3: the longer you sit out, you better have that much
- 55:46Speaker 3: bigger of a hit, you know what I mean, Like
- 55:48Speaker 3: when you do come back. Adele's the queen of that,
- 55:50Speaker 3: by the way, coming when she wants but never missing.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Apparently, Dell would be a dream dream scenario. The weekend.
- 55:56Speaker 3: The weekend would be my true, true, true buck. I
- 55:58Speaker 3: think he's the greatest artist this generation.
- 56:01Speaker 1: I agree.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I just, I just, I just not the number
- 56:03Speaker 2: one artist in the world for by default. No, he
- 56:06Speaker 2: makes my favorite music too, I.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Mean, yeah, great shots of the weekend. I just met
- 56:12Speaker 1: him in at the iHeart of iHeart festival and it
- 56:17Speaker 1: feels like a fan of my work. Really, he was like, Yo,
- 56:20Speaker 1: I just want you to know, like, uh, like it
- 56:23Speaker 1: seems like everything you do is like from a genuine
- 56:25Speaker 1: good place. You feel like you got a good spirit.
- 56:28Speaker 2: If Abel said something like that to me, I know.
- 56:30Speaker 1: It was crazy because and we just started talking about
- 56:32Speaker 1: like we talked for like twenty minutes.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Did you gets a fuck?
- 56:36Speaker 1: It was just cool as fuck. And then he was
- 56:38Speaker 1: like yeah, he was like, yo, dude, you look like
- 56:39Speaker 1: you're like talking.
- 56:40Speaker 3: If I could have a thirty minute conversation with anybody,
- 56:42Speaker 3: it would be be him or James.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Taylor Man or Seeger see.
- 56:47Speaker 3: One of them three Seager, Taylor, Abel. It's yeah, that'd
- 56:51Speaker 3: be a dream feature for me though. Man, I'm a
- 56:53Speaker 3: huge weekend fan.
- 56:55Speaker 1: How do you feel about these you mentioned, adell, these
- 56:57Speaker 1: memes that are going around that you're the adele.
- 56:59Speaker 3: For uh fort Drivers. Man, dude, I'm just glad. I'm
- 57:07Speaker 3: just dude. Can you believe I've become a mame?
- 57:10Speaker 2: Yeah? No, I mean you know what they've got so
- 57:11Speaker 2: many are they called gifts or gifts?
- 57:14Speaker 1: I think it's a gift.
- 57:16Speaker 3: I think it's a it's a gift.
- 57:21Speaker 2: So yeah, they got they got gifts of me. Now, yeah,
- 57:25Speaker 2: it's really cool.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you're You're like I've said this to other people,
- 57:29Speaker 1: but I'll say to you you are on your way
- 57:31Speaker 1: to being And I don't mean musically in any sense,
- 57:34Speaker 1: because I think you have a lot. You're gonna be
- 57:37Speaker 1: like the white Snoop Dogg hope. And I mean that
- 57:43Speaker 1: in the terms of, like, oh.
- 57:44Speaker 2: My god, Snoop Dogg announced I'm on this album. Oh
- 57:47Speaker 2: we can.
- 57:48Speaker 3: Talk about this, Snoops on the album. You're He announced it,
- 57:52Speaker 3: so I think I'm allowed to talk about it. We
- 57:54Speaker 3: cut this, I'm not okay, but he announced it. It sounds
- 57:57Speaker 3: like it should be fair Gun and the records dope, Dude,
- 58:00Speaker 3: it is crazy. I won't say anything about the record
- 58:02Speaker 3: because he didn't, but man, it's special.
- 58:04Speaker 2: It's really good.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Him and the Him and Dre shit.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Yes, the Hum and Dre album. Dog, I'm legitimately on
- 58:09Speaker 2: the Snoop dog and Doctor Dre outm It's crazy.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Who reaches out for that?
- 58:12Speaker 2: Ian Oh ship dude.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Jimmy hits John and says, can we get on a
- 58:17Speaker 3: FaceTime with Jelly Rowland Drake And I'm like, Doctor Dre.
- 58:21Speaker 3: They're like, yeah, so listen, I get on a FaceTime
- 58:24Speaker 3: on my back porch. I'm like a kid. Jimmy's there
- 58:27Speaker 3: and I'm already like I cannot believe.
- 58:28Speaker 2: This is Jimmy.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and uh.
- 58:31Speaker 2: He goes, oh, there goes on Dre coming.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Now.
- 58:33Speaker 2: There goes Dre now. And you can see that the
- 58:37Speaker 2: cameras wiggling a little bit, so you could tell he's
- 58:39Speaker 2: walking in the frame, and you could tell that they
- 58:41Speaker 2: do that, you know that this is there still. They
- 58:43Speaker 2: could tell they're still this close. So it was just
- 58:45Speaker 2: super cool.
- 58:46Speaker 3: And he sits down and they're just like yo, and
- 58:48Speaker 3: he's like, I got this crazy idea and.
- 58:50Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, dude, this is doctor Dray.
- 58:52Speaker 3: And then he's like so it gets even cooler and
- 58:55Speaker 3: he's like, I can send you something, or you can
- 58:57Speaker 3: write something and send it back, or you can come
- 58:59Speaker 3: here and we can write something something. When he said that,
- 59:01Speaker 3: I was like, I don't there's no way he expected
- 59:04Speaker 3: me to do any other option. I was like, if
- 59:05Speaker 3: coming and writing with you is the option, I'm coming.
- 59:08Speaker 1: So you went. I went, and you worked with Dre
- 59:11Speaker 1: and person.
- 59:11Speaker 2: I worked with Dre in person.
- 59:13Speaker 1: At his house. Yes, yeah, because that's why we were I mean,
- 59:16Speaker 1: I heard that it's it's.
- 59:18Speaker 2: We're gonna say at his studio, but yeah, but yeah
- 59:21Speaker 2: it was. It was cool.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody I heard the speakers are crazy.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Listen dog.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Now that I've worked with Eminem and doctor Dre, when
- 59:29Speaker 3: you work with people that big, they're the only two
- 59:31Speaker 3: people I'm scared to talk about, like when it's like
- 59:33Speaker 3: how did that go? But I mean like being like
- 59:35Speaker 3: I don't know what I can and came to you
- 59:37Speaker 3: know what I mean, They're that famous and that legendary.
- 59:39Speaker 3: But uh, it was the most awesome session ever. Dude,
- 59:41Speaker 3: I walked in. Dre was just like the biggest, most
- 59:44Speaker 3: warm hug. I went by myself completely, So I mean
- 59:47Speaker 3: I pull up solo, walk in solo, and then we
- 59:50Speaker 3: go down to like the dungeon and it's just a vibe.
- 59:55Speaker 3: We're in there right and immediately start just like no hesitation,
- 59:58Speaker 3: we just start writing it just immediately. Me and the
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: people that were already working on the record immediately got
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: it together and you could just feel that like it
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: was really fun because I felt like I earned their
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: respect kind of early in the process.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: So I had a moment where I was like, all right.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Cool, I'm holding Yeah, It's like because I knew when
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: you walk in those rooms, I'm still the kid that's
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: coming to wrap at the lunch table, like I want
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: to prove that I just deserve to be at the table.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: And uh I came in with that kind of attitude. Man,
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: it was really cool. We hung out, wrote stayed there
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: for a few hours. I mean, we chatted. Is he
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: by the way, Kendrick Lamar pop out of just having okay,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: So I'm getting like when I say just happened, I'm
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: his first session.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: After that, I'm.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Getting all getting I'm getting all that energy. You know,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: all these people in the room together for the first
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: time too, So I'm getting all this energy.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: So it was really it was special. Man. Is he directed?
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Because I heard he's like a perfectionist dude, so he
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: directed your takes perfectionist.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Let me tell you about Drey. This dude, he's doctor
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Dre for a reason. But he's incredible. He's a conductor
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: of a symphony in there, and he hears everything in everything,
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: and he hears it twenty different ways. And he'll like
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: put his ears up to these two speakers and you'll
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: start to sing and he'll be like a little sharp
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: you were flat on the word d you were a
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: little sharp on the word, and like he is man,
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: it's like not a perfectionist in like a picky asshole
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: way and like a super encouraging like now you got
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: that in your baby just a little bit like right here,
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: and I hit it like this, Now give me one
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: choice like this to work with. Like he makes you
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: feel like a rock star too, So you also get
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: why he's good at this because he's clearly correcting me
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: and getting what he wants out of me, but doing
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: it while like making me feel like I'm like Adele.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: I'm over here feeling like for a forklift, you know
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: I'm over here feeling like fucking Frank Ocean right like
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: I'm killing it, you know what I mean.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Snoop was not around.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Snoop was not there, Okay, saddest part of the whole
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: story is that Snoop wasn't there.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I don't think I could have took it though.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: I just feel like I couldn't.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Have walked into Snoop Dogg and Doctor.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Drape famous in like twenty years where it doesn't matter what,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: like you're just gonna be, You're gonna have five TV shows,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: You're gonna be hosting the Olympics.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I'll receive that. I would be honored, kind of would
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: love it. Noop is definitely a model, a career after
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: kind of guy.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Yo, it's give me some of the inside baseball on
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: you know, when we talk about the music industry, You've
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: seen so many facets of it. You've been independent, you've
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: done distro deals. Uh, you know, you're you're with your
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: label now, but you still you still own everything, right,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: It's still it's like a partnership. Would it for you
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: would be you know, the like number one thing you
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: could point to that you were able to kind of
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: do in the last two or three years that is
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: like applicable for other artists who are watching this, whether
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: it's like learning something new or changing an attitude towards everything,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: or something on the business side, maybe bringing in the
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: right people maybe, you know, because sometimes as an independent
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: artist you don't think you need as much help as
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: you do. But now you have a team, like a
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: real team, you know.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: So yeah, I could definitely say that the biggest difference
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: was really getting with a label, like honestly, not because
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: of the machine as much as people like I used
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: to be the guy who like rage like the machine, right,
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: but more so just having an infrastructure of people who
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: are working all day delicately towards what you're ever.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: We all got the same goal.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: We all got the same goal is to try to
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: get this music in front of as many people as possible.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: And it's been really, really, really cool. But I can
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: also tell everybody this man, that it's I truly believe
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: that what makes music and art so special is that
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: it can be done so many different ways. So do
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: it the way that your heart is convicted to do it.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Like for me, my heart was convicted to try to
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: get my message to critical mass. Like I felt like
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: what I was saying was so unspoken for in mass
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: media and in critical mass, meaning like the masses quote unquote,
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: that I wanted to do whatever I could to try
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: to get that message there, and that the deal, the
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: percentage was worth doing that deal and the stress that
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: comes with it too, also the attention, you know what
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: I mean, Like there's a whole new work schedule, Like
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: you know, there's.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Also like a whole new way you have to move.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: Man, Everything about my life is different, Everything about my
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: life is different. I'll be the first one to admit that,
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: but it was a sacrifice that I wanted to make
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: to try to get the message out.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: You know what I mean? But man that you know
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: there's other artists that do it otherwise.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: Me and you were talking about how much we love
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: the way Rod Waves operates, like he just wakes up
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: and he's like.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: You know what, the album's done, let's put it out.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: And then he puts it out and goes in towards it,
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: and then you don't hear from him again until he weekends.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: The same way.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Able is the I am. We've talked about this privately
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: a bunch, but I love I am such a fan
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: of people that do it different than how I do
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: it because I'm like most people. You know, why this something?
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: I'll this this good one. I used when everybody says
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: comparison is a thief of joy. I used to always
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: look at the way other people would do things, and
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: if they did it different than me, I had a
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: natural that was the wrong way to do.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: It, that you were doing it the wrong way. They
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: were doing that.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: Somebody had to be wrong. There's no way that both
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: could be right correct. And now I've realized that there's
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: like I let go that was all ego.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: There's no rules.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: Now I look like there's no rules man.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: It's like whatever your conviction is, to do it, whatever
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: way you want to do it.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: That actually works for you. You know.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: It's uh, what the best news I ever heard from
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: a trainer. When I sat down with Ian and Uh,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: we were talking about getting my weight together, and I
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: was like, what kind of diet are.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: We going on? It's like the one that you'll eat mmmm,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: And I was like huh.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: He was like, yeah, man, all that stuff is like, yeah,
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: does keto work for sure? But can you eat carbs
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: and still lose weight?
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: For sure?
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Can you do all this? It really comes down to
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: what you will stick to, the moderation you're willing to
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: eat at. If you want to eat nothing but shitty foods,
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: we can really make that figure out. You're gonna have
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: to eat a lot less because this is a calorie
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: in calorie.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: But when he put that to me, it's like, I
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: feel that same way I walk through life with that.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: I used to walk through life like this, keV. Everything
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: that I had I held like this, and it served
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: me none at all. It only worked against me. I
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: learned I walked through life like this. I don't hold
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: none of that stuff like this no more, you know
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: what I mean. I don't have none of those I
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: don't have No. I'm not hammered to one ideology. I'm
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: open to listen to any interpretation anybody has of anything,
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: to see if I can gain anything from it at
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: any moment. I'm not like that overly committed anything at
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: any point anymore.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think you like you're on a
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: record with Russ. There's a kid named love Russell. Have
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: you heard of the Russell? Yeah, like the Russell's. He's
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: doing this pay what you want live show thing, and
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: it's like, I've never seen anybody do that.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: It's work, dude.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: It's like, go do it the way that you want
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: to do it, the way Russell has done it. I
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: love watching people that do it their own way.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: I chose to write songs about it, stuff that I
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: grew up experiencing, and I chose to go out and
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: beat the drum about it like this. You know, that's
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: just the way I chose to go about it. Yo.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: When you write some of these records, man, like it
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: feels like like you know what I think about like
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: the records you got with Skyler that is going crazy
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: on TikTok right now after you get down recording that,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: like you wear that on you for a little bit,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Like that's a really like that's a crazy Oh.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Yeah, No, we have sessions. Man, you know you don't
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: You're not writing the right song if you don't leave
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: a piece of it there. Yeah of you there, you.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Know what I mean, if there's not a part of
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: you that it doesn't stir your soul. The songs that
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: mean the most to me are the ones that sit
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: on my phone and bother me that they're not out,
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: Like this was one of those songs. The Skylar record
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: was like the song with Keith Urban Believe it or not,
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: was like I just could not quit singing that and
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: don't mean I don't taste and crave it in every
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: corner of my mind right Like that line for whatever reason,
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: just stuck with me in such a way that I
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: was like, if we don't put this song out, like
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: one of my favorite songs ever. Look it up from
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Red Quick Gooch. You always blow the girl's name wrong, Jamie,
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: She's got the two Am song at.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Two am and I'm still away writing this song. I
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: of me.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Two am song.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's called just Breathe two am, Just breathe good.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear it. Yeah. And she has
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: a line that goes.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: The end of the song goes two am. And I'm
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: still awake writing this song. If I get it all
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: out on paper, it's no longer inside of me, threatening
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: the life.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: It belongs to.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Wow, arguably greatest lyric ever written in a song. I've
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: been arguing this with people all the time, and whatever
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: I mean. There's a lot of other lyric you know,
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I could there's other, but like, as a songwriter, I
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: don't think anybody's ever encapsul how I feel in one
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: sentence ever Better then, like songs like past Yesterday drive
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: me crazy because I know that they belong to someone
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: else and I have to get them out.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: They're not for me.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: I have a lot of songs that are for me
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: that will never make it, that are just wasn't either
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: written well enough, I just never wrote, or just they
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: were for.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Me, you know what I mean. But this song, when
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: it's really not for you, those are those kinds of songs.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Man, yo, because you have this Like you know, when
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: I was watching the Hulu documentary when it came out,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: there was a part where I don't know if it
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: was a grandmother and a daughter, you were approached backstage,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: and I forget the exact interaction that ended up happening
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: between you and these two fans, but it may like
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: brought tears to the minds. It was like so crazy, But
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: I can only imagine for you that's like every day, right,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: like there's people out here with signs of you know,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: maybe a kid that overdose store.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: This is like if I remember that right, that story
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: was a murder suicide, yeah, little girl.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: It was something.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: It was just a lot, but uh, it was one
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: of the one of the hardest stories I've ever heard.
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: I do hear that stuff a lot.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: I just feel honored that I can help people in
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: such a moment. I'm very empathic, so I feel it.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: I definitely feel it.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: How do you turn off that because you also kind
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: of like, you know, you have your own shit to
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: worry about, so it's like, you know, you're having all
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: these deep interactions with people, you see, how the whether
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: even if it's online like the TikTok response to your record,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: it's so crazy.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: I'm encouraged by it too, though, because I think that
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: it's like creating conversations.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Whenever I spoke about Finton all that, Whenever I went
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: to the Grammys two weeks later, everybody on the red
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: carpet want to just tell me their story about a
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: family member they had. You know, it's like that kind
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: of vulnerability because I think once we start letting people
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: tell their stories, like I don't know how many times
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: you share the story about your son and your podcast.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: And it's zero.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you see what I'm saying, Like, now there's somebody
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: who's been watching you for years that's gonna see that,
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: and like it's gonna impact them different because they're gonna
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: be like, damn, man.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: Him, damn.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Like it's gonna hit different with people.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: So like me, creating that kind of vulnerability where people
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: will have these kind of conversations is Man.
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: I think it's what I'm actually really here for.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Pose.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: I think that's truly what my purpose is.
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: The music and me talking is just a vessel. The
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: music is just a vessel to create these conversations with
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: people that normally wouldn't be had, you know what I mean,
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: Because now it's like there's we've You've brought a human
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: element to it.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: So Vester Stallone, you said it was the first person
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: that commented congrats on the album.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: The first person first comments.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Sulton King slides the best shout out to the Stallone sisters. Systeine,
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: Yes they are. They came to the show. Is it
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: Sophia or Sophia. I think it's Sophie Sophie Stallone or
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: is it Sophia Stallone? But it's and Sofia and the
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: sweetest girls ever, so humble. You never think they grew up,
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Sophia Custine and Sophia Stallone. You would never know they
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: were like they just don't act like Sylvester Stallone's kids.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: They just act like two like really humble, cool kids,
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: you know what I mean. And I say kids like
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: cause I'm forty and they're in their twenties. Probably you
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: know what I mean. But they were so sweet.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: Sistine loved Bunny. This is how Bunny changes my life.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: As always found me through Bunny. Then seeing they had
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: a documentary about me on Hulu, it was like, oh well,
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: this is Bunny's husband, let's see what this is about.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: Loves it, and then like Cistine being a true champion,
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: thank you for this forever. Sisteine rallies her family around
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: one night like, hey, y'all gott to watch this. This
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: is a crazy documentary, you know what I mean. And
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: then they watched the documentary too, so from there on
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: they were just like and then how the world works
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: fast forward. David Glasser is a producer for One on
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: One Studios. Met him at State Age Coach. We've been
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: friends ever since, like talk all the time. It was
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: so cool because he was like one of those dudes.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: It was like just super nice and humbly and he's like,
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: I know I don't talk to people, but I just
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: want to come say we love your music. And my
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: wife his wife was the sweetest woman ever, and he
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: was like, yeah, I produced television, man, we should just
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: you know, whatever, man, anything I can ever do to help,
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: I'd love to help. We just kind of parted ways.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: I didn't think much about it. I text him and
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: I was like, hey, good to meet you man. He's like, yeah,
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: lock me in. I'm David glass for One on one
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: Studios And at that point, I kind of copy and
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: paste and see this guy is and I'm like, he
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: does all my favorite shows. So then I hit him like, yo,
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: I don't want to be a super whirdo here, but like,
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: I think Mike McClusky is one of I think he's
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: the new Tony soprano. Right, you watch this show The
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: King's Down, Yeah, for sure, I think Mike McClusky is
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: like and then I'm like right, And then he does
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: Yellowstone and.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Then they do I haven't watched any of I haven't
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: watched any of the Yellowstone spinoffs, but yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: So then we get to talk about Tulsa King and
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: he just can tell I won't shut up about it
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: because I'm just like, this.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Show is so well thought out. I was like, Sophster
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Stallone is back, like he never left. I'm just like,
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: this show it could do. This show is fire.
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: It's great show.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: I don't care who you are.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Now, Plut's got some heat.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: You go sit down and watch fucking Tulsa King and
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: tell me I ain't one of the best shows on TV.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: You're fucking litw you know what I mean? It is
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: so good.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: So he was like yeah, and what's so cool about
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: David was, h go back to our Paul Rosenberg conversation.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: People who just have your back and are men of
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: their word. Paul told me how my back ten years ago,
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: and fuck kept over for ten years. David goes, oh, dude,
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: we're shooting the next season in Atlanta. Just drive down
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: one day at least come hang out on set. Maybe
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: we'll get you in the show. But I'd love to
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: introduce you to sly. So when he calls Slash, I
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: was like, my daughter, Maam, he watched the show. I
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: love this guy. Put him on the phone right now.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Let's put him in the show. And immediately, you know it,
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: like calls me and U slides such a creative on
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: that show. When he facetimes me, cam Ford him put
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: us on the phone together. As soon as he face
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: times cam Cam hands me the phone. I'm in my
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Dunkin Donut commercial, so I'm already having a weird day.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: I'm like, this is crazy. I'm doing a Dunkin Donut
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: commercial right now. And Sylvester Stalon's on the FaceTime and uh,
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: He's like, this is my idea, and he shoots his
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: idea at me right then on the phone. I'm like,
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: I'm gonna like, mistake you for a janitor, and we're
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: gonna like, let me put some egg on my face.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: It'll be funny. I'm gonna set you up to you
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: know what I mean. It was really cool. It was like.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: I hate to keep circling back to previous conversations, but
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: I love podcasts that have themes. It's like Austin theory.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: Like I realized right then that Sylvester Stallone putting you over,
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: he just was putting me over, dude. He just wanted
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: me to look as good as I could, you know
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: what I mean, And like he was just in a
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: place where that's what his heart was.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: And I'll forever clip.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: This and send this to me so I can send
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: this to him and his family because thank you forever.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Selvestro. Acting next, I want to do it so bad. Yeah,
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: I want to do it so well.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: You know, I'm gonna just move to LA and try
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: get a little acting coach and stand in line.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: You're gonna get typecasted like a motherfucker.
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: And the prison, Oh, I'm gonna be every fucking But
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: you know what I told him, I was like, if
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: they ever knew the prisoner of a Mary Kingstown. I'll
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: be a prisoner for y'all. Oh yeah, Now i'd go
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: to play a cricket cop or real cop.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: A crookeedt cop would be fun.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Oh I might get in trouble for telling this story.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Have you ever seen the rookie the ricky? No
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: rookie on a Oh the rookie no like her family.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: You know, I'm aware of the show like a dramed
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I'm aware of the show. Yeah.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: Me and my wife and daughter watch it all the time.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: I was gonna get to be on this season, dude.
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: I had the coolest scene ever. I wasn't jelly rolled.
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: I was like something else. I was gonna go get
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: to be on the watch be a part of my
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: favorite show. And I thought. I had a gallbladder attack
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: the night the day before we flew to the point
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: that I went to the hospital and I missed the scene.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Oh shit, but that's the next thing to try to tackle. Yeah,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: man acting.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well, dude, that's like my daughter like, bust my
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: balls about that.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Now, when you do a twenty eight song project, you
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: have a lot of songs to work, So I feel like,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: is it safe to say that this album is gonna
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: live with us for a little bit.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: I can tell you that I'm not an you know,
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: we were talking about the artists that take their time to
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: put out albums.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take my time to put.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Out my next album. Yeah.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: I hope Beautifully Broken can suffice people for a while
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: because I'm gonna go get I'm gonna do some acting.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I'm gonna really focus on now. M hm, you're getting
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: good stuff today for me.
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: My next goal, too, is that the next hundred pounds
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: I want to lose a little different than the first hundred.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: The first hundred was just head down, eat right, drink water, exercise,
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: get it off. I want to start lifting. I want
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: to make sure that when I do lose the next
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: hundred pounds out of the body. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: look I don't want to look weird.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: So so that's the next thing.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: That's the next thing. Focus on health, focus on acting,
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: and really slow rite the albums.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, dude, it's it feels like an album
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: full of singles.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty crazy to go.
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: Just keep working this album, man, take it slow, just
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: keep pushing Beautifully Broken. Festivals only next year and travel abroad.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Yo U would you obviously? And you're not gonna stop
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: doing features though, like the go to feature. I feel
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: like you're becoming like a go to guy.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Kel told me I was the White Way, and in twenty.
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: Eleven, it's what it's feeling that way, That's what MGK said.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: I loved him for it, but uh now, I'm always up.
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: I'm a collaborative guy. So somebody, especially if a friend
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: of mine or somebody I really adore sends me a record,
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: I'm always in.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Would you ever do another?
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Whaling?
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: And Willie would Struggle.
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: And Struggling are definitely gonna do another. We got a
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: single coming out next year that we're gonna go to
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: the country radio with his single feature of meat Fire.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: He's I'm proud of struggle Man one. He's just he's
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: putting out a great body of work right now. He's
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: fixing to go out on tour. Struggles just always work
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: and he's been I didn't get him on this album,
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: and it was kind of intentionally. I've had him on
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: every album I've ever done, and I think that I
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: wanted to let him have. He toured with me last year, yep,
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: and we intentionally was like, Yo, take a year, go
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: out there and you know what I mean.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: And and and kind of like grab grab your people in.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: For sure, like go out there and plan because you
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: haven't even got to go plan this flag yetty and
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: so with and then he'll go do a couple of
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: headliners himself with his artists like Caitlyn Curtis and them,
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: but he hasn't, like, you know, I'm such a I'll
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: block off half that dude schedule every year with my
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: ship for sure, you know what I mean. So it's like, dude,
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: go go keep building, drop money, Carlo, drop these records
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: that you've been working on El Camino, Drop money Carlo
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: and uh, and then we'll double back around and catch
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: a Weathering and Willy probably in the next year, next
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: couple of years. Could you see he'll go on my next,
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: my next, my next American tours a year after the
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: next twenty six he'll be up for me for sure.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna take them abroad wherever I can, wherever I
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: can get.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Could you see yourself doing another hip hop album?
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: I don't know, man, I don't I don't have If
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: you get you you'd have to probably get the itch
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: right like something I'd have to really, yeah, something would
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: like and I would spend a lot of time thinking
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: about what the subject matter was.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: I wrapped about certain things for so long that I
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: wouldn't even know how to. And I was always so
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: honest in my raps that I don't know if I
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: would even be allowed that kind of honesty right now
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: in my life, you know.
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: Yo, I mean, I don't know. I just don't know. Man,
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: I don't have the itch at all. Well, we're talking
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: about this some people's hearts out there.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: There's so much money, there's so many deals.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: I would rather do a hook for Big Exes album,
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: which I'm working on. Oh so you're I'm working on
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: a Big X record. I would rather do something for
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: Mexican O T. I would rather work with Joiner again.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: I would rather work with him again.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: That makes sense.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: I would rather like keep I think I'm bringing more
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: value to hip hop right now than I ever brought
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: to hip hop.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: And I hadn't wrapped a bar in five years.
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: So it's like, I think I just want to keep
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: doing that because I think I'm really I want to
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: do another Tech nine record. I want to make sure
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: that I want to I want to help hip hop
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: and them, I think I don't think I would help
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: hip hop by trying to be hip hop.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Well, and I think too like you're like, like you said,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: you're doctor d calls, You're I mean you're to me,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: you're you're a pretty genrealist man. I feel like you've
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: kind of always been that way.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: So it's like sure, and like that's a big one,
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: you know what I mean, that's huge, Like to work
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: with somebody like Rod now you know what I mean,
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: like goa happen. But yeah, that's my heart. Maybe one
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: day I'd love to wrap on somebody else's stuff for fun.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: I always joke with all my rapper homies like if
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: you ever get one, it really makes sense, you know
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: what I mean, maybe like slide a little sneaky twelve
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: in somewhere and see if I still got it.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: Yo, it's can you can you speak?
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: Struggle could get it out of I mean struggle at him.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: They could get it out of the probably maybe Wolf, Yeah,
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Wolf could get it out of him. Yeah. But but
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: once again, I think I would do Wolf more by like.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Trailer in the Skyhook, which was great. Wolf wrapped and
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: I did. I just think I bring more value to
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: the song by doing what I do.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it is whild Do you still have a ton
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: of those Day One like fans who maybe because you know,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: you are a part of this like underground hip hop
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: uh world that was very niche. It was like and
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: I was a part of that world, you know, with
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Ritz and Wolf and yourself, and you know, we can
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: go on and on and on. I guess like what
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: would call that kind of like the white the like
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: twenty ten white rapper.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, there was an air underground like rapper things.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Everybody was going all the famous white rappers are going
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: at each other. But it's like, like, do you still
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: see those same things because you were talking about back
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: in the day you would give pizza in Knoxville to
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: the people standing outside when you'd sell out, and you're like, yo,
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: we should do that again. But like, do you still
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: run into those crazy like Day one fans who?
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah all the time? Man, they're awesome. I went
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: to the DMV. I was home. I've been home two
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: days in the last one hundred days. They were just
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: like four days ago.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Walking to the DMV, I've been in there thirty seconds, right,
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: and I'm just looking for somebody I know to go Hey,
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: it's not letting me set this up online. I'm only
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: in town for a day. I need to bring my
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: daughter to get a license, which I am proud to
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: announce on the Bootleg CAF podcast. My sixteen year old daughter,
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: Bailey Anne, is now a licensed driver.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Congrats, it's a huge deal. Thank you, A huge deal.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: So I walk in, the first person I see is
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: a dude with a Jelly Roll shirt. Not making this up.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: First dude, I mean. I run into him and I'm like,
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: what's up.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: He's like David.
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: I mean, he's ghost white. You could tell he's like
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: been with me a long time. He immediately shows me
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: like a a game bad Apple blended tag like my
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: sorry two of like the original brands that we tried
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: to take off. And uh, He's like, I got a
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: brother in the car and you meet him. I was like, yell,
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: let me go talk to this person. I meet him
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: on the way out. So I take a couple of
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: pictures and I meet the DMV people are so sweet,
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: too many girl I know. Immediately gets with the manager
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: I know, and they hooked me up what I needed.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: I leave and I meet his brother on the way out,
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: and his brother goes, now, you don't get me wrong,
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: I like this album of years, but when you're gonna
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: drop some.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: Of that good good shit again?
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: And I go, good good shit, you know, and he goes,
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: you know what I'm talking about? This stuffs and he shook,
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: I need you to do something with Haystack.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: He was like, He's like, I'm talking about it, and
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: I said, listen, man, don't take this wrong, sir. I
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: don't want to sound like Andre three thousand. I'm get
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: in trouble here, but at a forty years old would
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: as soon to be college kid, I'm not sure what
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: I would rap about, you know what I mean. I'm
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: not sure that people would even want to hear what
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: I rapped about.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Right now. It's like, you know what I mean, Like,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: you're not gonna rap about slanging freaking crack, yeah, for sure.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Like slaming pussy, you know what I mean. Those days are.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: It's like, it's like, you know, I'm not gonna rap
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: about I don't know. I guess I could rap about
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: what's happening in my life now, but I'm kind of
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: you know, I don't know. I'm having more.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Fun telling other people's stories. Yeah, and I don't.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: I've never done that in hip hop. I've only kind
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: of expressed self, so I'd have to find my way
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: into it.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Are you still when you have you know your background
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: that you have and I'm sure a friend group of
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: a certain you know amount of people who may or
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: may not be up to criminal activities. You know, when
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: you come from that lifestyle, you fall out with people.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: But when you have this meteoric rise to fame, it
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: feels like the people who are closest to you or
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: where you're from, usually in hip hop, of course worse,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: you get the most hate from you know, you didn't
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: bring me up with you, do you?
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Like, how do you deal with that shit? Doug, Because
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: like even me and on whatever level of success I have,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I deal with that shit all the time.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: Man. It's it's really hard. It hurts.
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: Thanks for bringing this up because it's probably one of
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: the thorns on my side of life that it took
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: me a while to forgive myself for not being able
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: to do everything for everybody. But somebody told me you
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: can't be everything to everybody, you know what I mean?
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: And I just started forgiving myself and giving myself grace
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: you know where it's like. Look, man, if you think
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: that I'm responsible for bringing somebody up, your mentality is wrong.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: Anyways.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I remember been a time where my entire
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: world felt like it relied on the actions of another man.
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: You know, does that make sense?
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: It makes a lot of sense.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: That's not the way to go through life.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: If you if your success is dependent on anybody at all,
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: you were in the wrong. You're in the wrong area
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: searching for it. So if you're looking for a homie
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: to do this for you, or you got your buddy
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: that's doing this, that he might be able to give
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: you a look, or this guy might be able to
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: do this for you. If you're one of those people,
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: that mentality is going to tear you down. That's that
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: street stuff that tourists down for years. It's also the
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: same street stuff that'll have you. I was thinking about
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: this the other day, that the streets will train you
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: to let somebody come in your house and shoot your
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: child and you not call the police on them.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: Think about just now, that I'm an adult, and I
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: even say that back out loud, I go, how did
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: I believe that? How did I buy into that, you
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: know what I mean, Like, how did I even let
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: that become a thought? All that stuff works hand in
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: hand to me. All that is, all of those are
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: the same language. The other languages I look for now
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: that I'm very I pay attention to language now, keV,
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: that'll do you know what I mean.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: It's like entitlement words.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Entitlement's the worst, man.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: You know, these are the things that are like or
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: even friends who are like. I had a friend tell
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: me recently, he's like, you change, man, don't act like
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: you're not different. And I'm and I had to really
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: take perspective of that because it hurt my feelings. But
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: then I thought, I was that he's totally right. I
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: have Yeah, well, because there's no way you have this
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: kind of schedule and this kind of clarity and you're
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: working this hard with this kind of a mission and
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: purpose and there just not be changes that happen like yeah,
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: I've changed. I've got five hundred and thirty seven unread
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: text messages. If yours is one of them, I'm sorry.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean, Like one hundred and
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: eighty people whose mouths I have to feel like.
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: There's one hundred and eighty people that are counting on
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: me to make sure everything that stage right. And that's
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: not counting the fourteen thousand people that came here to
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: get served. You know, there's they're like, we look at
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: this like church, man, we're here to serve, dude, that
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: we're not here to do anything but serve. We are
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: here to try to make people leave this building feeling better.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: You're viral to address the Congress I thought was one
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: of the most just beautiful moments, dude, Like it was
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: fucking insane. I know you've talked about it a lot.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: I know that there was a bill that ended up
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: getting passed right.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: That it did the fend dolphin all that was put
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: in the law. I wonder I'll tell you a story
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: about that off camera. Remind me got you?
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: I wonder, like for you, you do have so much
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: good grace, so much influence right now, Like is that
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: like an area in which you're you want to still
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: kind of be active in terms of.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, man, I definitely want to just I want
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: to go use my ah No, that was the one
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: and done for me unless they need me for something
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: that I'm convicted about. As you can imagine, every Senator
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: on America called me send us an email the next
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: week with the calls, but uh, I'm just wasn't interested. Yeah,
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: I'm very specific into I don't like politics.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: I just never have.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: I mean, you can't even vote, right, Yeah, I can't vote.
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: I don't have your a feeling. Yes stuff, whoever, somebody
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: giving my right.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: Vote back and we'll start to go, Yeah, that's what
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: we'll talk.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: But I'm an ally in need of things that I know, right,
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: you know, I'm just also big about not talking about
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: shit I don't know. Yeah, I knew that particular subject
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: pretty well. There's a couple of other subjects that if
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: it really came up, I'd be willing to go try
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: to speak about. But I just want to make sure
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: that our people had a voice that day. That was
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: real simple for me, you know what I mean?
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think too. It's like, you know, going back
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: to what we're talking about the AA meetings, and you know,
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: having family members who are addicts, like legitimately people look
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: at and I just heard you talk about this, but
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: people don't acknowledge addicts who are in a really low
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: places like people. They really dehumanize them. And and you know,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I think I think that's stat that. Like, to me,
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: that was like an important moment to like shake people
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: up and me like, yo, there's like you know the
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: airplane reference you made.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: Yeah, the airplane reference is real. That many people die
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: day as a plane crash. And it's because we've long
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: had this thing in America where we look at everybody
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: as a it's a personal thing.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: We have no sense of community.
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: No more is to be more, have more tribalism in
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: America than we've ever had, to have more tribalism in
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: America than we've ever had. I feel like we have
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: less community than we've ever had.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: And you know what's crazy is most of the major
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: shit we all agree on.
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: Yeah, right, it's crazy.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: But think about it, like I don't. I think I
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: think we all agree that like our tax dollars, we'd
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: like to kind of know that they're helping you know,
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: us a little, you know, not getting you know, sent
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: over to fight O.
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: That's yeah, one percent, it's just you know, but once again,
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: it's like back to that point, we've lost our sense
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: of real like community, you know what I mean.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: So divided everybody. It's like, dude, if we don't agree
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: on this one thing. It doesn't mean that we can't
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: agree on this or we can't have beer.
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: You can't you know, man, or just say, hey man,
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: we just don't agree about that. Let's talk about something
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: we do agree with.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: Yeah, we could. I wish we would just focus a
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: little more to on the things that we do agree about.
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: We can make so much more progress.
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: All right, let's quit arguing about the stuff we don't
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: agree about for a few minutes, and the four or
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: five things that we all agree about, let's go forward
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: with that. But yeah, back to the addict talk. I
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: say that because we look at them like, ah, they
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: chose to get on drugs. Fucked them, you know what
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: I mean. It's like, but like, nah, man, that's bootleg.
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: Kev's son's mother, you know what I mean, Like this
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: is so much more bigger than her.
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: Let's think about her son, thinking about how it affected
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: her mother, how it affected keV, how it affected Kev's wife.
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: Kev's wife had to marry into a whole situation for Svins,
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: an eleven year old young man, to be a mother.
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: It's like this is you.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: Then you start seeing the the true impact the you know,
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: the uh, the drug addict is is not the victim here,
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: you know what I mean, that's not and I'm not
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: saying that they're the the the aggressor neither what you know,
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: the but saying that, you know, the victims of drug
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: addiction are so much murther further we change that we
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: state this the right way. The victims of drug addiction
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: her so much more than just the just.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: The drug addict.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: It's the family drug addict is a victim of drug addiction.
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: So it's like the victim of drug addiction is so
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: much more than just the drug addict.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: How do you how do you because you know, with
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: the last few years, man, I'm assuming like you need
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: your wife more than ever now, right, how do you guys? Like,
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: how is your guys' relationship evolved? Uh? With with the
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: new success like that, like and her own success as
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: a as an entity on her own, her podcast is massive.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: Funny's podcast is huge, Bunny's Patreon is huge, Bunny's TikTok
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: is bigger than mine.
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: But she's going crazy. I mean, she she really, I mean,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: correct me, I'm wrong, but she kind of broke the sky,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: the gray record. It was her TikTok, right, it was her. Sure.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: What's even cooler about that was I sent Bunny the
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: album and said, if any of these songs touch you
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: in any way that you want to post them and
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: help me out, please, you know. I'm just like, I'm
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: We're that kind of with each other, and buddies like,
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: she's like, she's my Wife's like, I'm gonna post something.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: I got you, no problem. And then when she did that,
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: I was like, oh, man, because you know, Bunny had
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: never shared that side of her story a lot, and
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: I won't either because that's her story to too, of course,
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: but I wrote that thinking about her and she knew that.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: So for her to like be like, you know what, man,
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna stand on this now. For all we know
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: about Bunny. When her book comes out, we're gonna find
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: out that we don't know about Bunny, you know what
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: She's like, Bunny's been through a lot more than even
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: she tells, so her connecting with the song. But dude,
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: we see each other less, but we are communicate more.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: And that's kind of the rule, is that if you're
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: not gonna be able to see each other and spend
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: time together, we got to fill in the communication blank.
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: So every night we'll talk for hours if we're on
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: the phone. If we're not together and just catch up.
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: We still prioritize making time for each other. It's just
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: important things to do.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: Man, any new brand deals on the way, Hey dude,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: do you see my hate dude shoe?
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: I did not or that with these.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: These are the hate dudes.
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: This one was a piss dirty one because I'm wearing it.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: Everyone was great, but dude, I'm sure, hey, dou won't
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: mind me, but you don't worry. On the inside it
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: says made for the beautifully broken. I mean, these are
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: just cool. I love Hey dudes, we wear them anyways
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: or it's just insanely comfortable, and uh, we did a
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: deal with them, but I'm sure they won't mind me
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: saying that we're we It wasn't a one off.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: We got like we're doing a big deal with day Dude.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: Like everybody who's like, we only did a very limited
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: drop for the album. Maybe too limited in hindsight, because
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: I've seen a lot of people that were upset, and
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: I don't like to upset people. Like I'm not trying
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: to be a rare drop artist. You know, I'm for
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: everybody all the time is how I always want to be.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: But we maybe slightly under anticipated what the demand could
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: be too. But we also wasn't worried about it because hey,
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: dude and I know that we're in this for the
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: long haul, like we've got we've got a future together.
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: We're we got we got year's worth of plans together
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: already in motion of drops every year.
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: So don't worry.
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: It's gonna be good, man, it's probably. I mean, I
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: got a lot, you know. The Dunkin donut commercial was cool.
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: I don't have a Dunkin.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Deals tak a donut shit, it's crazy. Well, I feel
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: like they need to give you your own item on
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: the maybe.
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: Dunk and holler at me. Y'all know how much I
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: loved working with y'all. It was an absolute ball.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Or a McDonald's meal.
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: Yeah, oh listen, you can have your own McDonald's. Oh
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: that's a big one.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: You remember.
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: I remember when Travis gott got his first McDonald mill.
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: I was like, get out of kas just dropped the
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: flame sent you, I know, and did it with John
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: Cena talking about a big flex. Nobody's bigger than him.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: He had John con to come to his house.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: Dude, come on, what would be that's the only way
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: you go to kind do that is fair? He's the king.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I would you guys talk to me?
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: No, please intro.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: I don't know him.
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: Oh I want to know him.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: So he's so funny.
