- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of Not Another Football Podcast with myself,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Simon Donley and Jackie mc andhr. I'm a delighted. I've
- 0:12Speaker 1: got a fantastic guest as always, direk Ryerdan oh good
- 0:18Speaker 1: all good looking forward it and as we record this
- 0:21Speaker 1: for two games into the new season. So your reflection
- 0:25Speaker 1: on yesterday delighted.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I delighted. I watched it in my bed, funny enough,
- 0:30Speaker 2: but that was it was a snatched it then, to
- 0:34Speaker 2: be fair, I think obviously Ranger started to battle us
- 0:38Speaker 2: in the second half. Anyway, I folk, but.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Let's see, I've.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Been I've been to the home games. I have been
- 0:48Speaker 2: taking they be man and we girls, so they've got
- 0:51Speaker 2: season tickets so I'm getting dragged along and I'm basically
- 0:54Speaker 2: so it's I don't know. It's been all right, I
- 0:58Speaker 2: don't know. I think we need improved all obviously, but
- 1:01Speaker 2: as I say, it's a good result. It's a good
- 1:03Speaker 2: result yesterday. So he and.
- 1:05Speaker 3: A few younger ones as well, and he tried to
- 1:07Speaker 3: bid them in the boy fireland all right. I think
- 1:11Speaker 3: boyled and I think the elders he's got a really
- 1:14Speaker 3: good chance.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I think he'll get ill. Did you see the composer
- 1:19Speaker 2: of parsionally out of books. I think he's got a
- 1:23Speaker 2: really good chance.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Cool. So I take you back to the start of
- 1:28Speaker 1: a career. Obviously, Hubs. Did you come through there through
- 1:32Speaker 1: the ranks really young?
- 1:33Speaker 2: When you start I think, I think I maybe wait
- 1:36Speaker 2: and I think it was Martin Ferguson. I think it
- 1:40Speaker 2: was it maybe scouted me or whatever at Granting Sports.
- 1:45Speaker 3: That must have been.
- 1:45Speaker 2: About thirteen fourteen ish maybe, and I started going. You know,
- 1:49Speaker 2: you get holidays at football is different now obviously I
- 1:51Speaker 2: think I was going on the holidays with Donald park Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Obviously Parking was the main one for me. He was
- 1:56Speaker 2: brilliant start going to the holiday is signed at sixteen obviously,
- 2:03Speaker 2: Hank at your pro contracts at sixteen a right for
- 2:05Speaker 2: two years or sudden you get that time. And I
- 2:08Speaker 2: was coming through that Big Gary. Obviously there was a
- 2:12Speaker 2: group piece King Gary to be fair, Tomo and Brunie
- 2:15Speaker 2: and all that. They sortly comes to a bit after
- 2:17Speaker 2: I because I played with Big gask Grant and Sports.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Then he went to Salvey and I went a hutchie Vale,
- 2:24Speaker 2: which normally most end up at Hutchey. They take the
- 2:28Speaker 2: good players with it for the other teams and I
- 2:31Speaker 2: went Hutchey and he went Salvey. Then both of us
- 2:34Speaker 2: ended up at him at the same time, so it
- 2:35Speaker 2: was it was good then obviously Tomo and Brunie and
- 2:38Speaker 2: with current Ai.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That he shows you that, we shows you that broke
- 2:43Speaker 1: Mowbray broke. They want to be fair, but we had
- 2:44Speaker 1: a good way young groups. That difference between you and
- 2:47Speaker 1: the likes of Brunnie and Tom. Think Brunie is maybe
- 2:50Speaker 1: two couple of year two.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Three manus as well want them after that.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Tamas Tamas in before us, hink times a couple of
- 2:59Speaker 2: years older than other time was really involved with us.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I didn't think when you came in, Nah, he was older.
- 3:06Speaker 2: He was in the older group. Fe were at sixteen.
- 3:08Speaker 2: He was like in the would have been twenty ones,
- 3:10Speaker 2: I think. But then because we played under eighteens and
- 3:14Speaker 2: they were in under twenty ones. When you played at
- 3:15Speaker 2: stadiums and stuff, it's actually good under twenty one reserve
- 3:18Speaker 2: matches back then. Yeah, there was also the big players
- 3:20Speaker 2: in a minute and you go big crowds and I
- 3:23Speaker 2: remember it was like six or something that tink Castle
- 3:25Speaker 2: remember that's every and all that replace you look forward
- 3:28Speaker 2: to that as you were young, you just touching.
- 3:31Speaker 1: But we were talking about it before we came on here.
- 3:34Speaker 1: The day obviously been the youngsters and getting bled into
- 3:37Speaker 1: the football. But what do you put that down to the
- 3:40Speaker 1: back then? Was that just a stroke color that a
- 3:42Speaker 1: group of used came through it the one time?
- 3:44Speaker 2: I think it is. I don't think you coach it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And yeah, trying to think. I think, obviously say just
- 3:50Speaker 2: hopefully the new batch coming through that. But know for
- 3:53Speaker 2: that many players coming through at the same time, I
- 3:55Speaker 2: think it's hard to get and obviously clubs, clubs would
- 3:58Speaker 2: love that to happen. I signed a five year away McLeish,
- 4:05Speaker 2: so I was stally quite lucky. I think he signed
- 4:08Speaker 2: with Rangels about a week or two after that was
- 4:11Speaker 2: run out my contract that actually went to sell ticket
- 4:14Speaker 2: twenty three so it was at the end of the was.
- 4:17Speaker 3: That five years and five that just let's what.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Must have been because the only pie cheap or whatever
- 4:23Speaker 2: for me just to get me quick or whatever. I
- 4:25Speaker 2: haven't worked, I die. But it was a five year contract,
- 4:28Speaker 2: so I was quite lucky. I got that just before
- 4:32Speaker 2: came in after again, was it Frank was it Frank
- 4:37Speaker 2: or was it Bobby? No, it was Frank Sozy Frank
- 4:40Speaker 2: Sosi go. The joe was now dead quick because he
- 4:43Speaker 2: gave me. He gave me my debut and he only
- 4:45Speaker 2: lasted maybe was that a month?
- 4:47Speaker 3: Three games?
- 4:48Speaker 2: Then Bobby come aby that so having.
- 4:52Speaker 1: That short period, so he gave you your debut. It
- 4:55Speaker 1: was against that's fun enough, and then Bobby came in.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Then Bobby come in.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I had to go a loan. I didn't really hang
- 5:02Speaker 2: me away and loan he killed in beef for three games,
- 5:04Speaker 2: so I don't well scored the hat at the first
- 5:06Speaker 2: game or whatever. Then he called me back and I
- 5:10Speaker 2: was in the stand against Obviously I was the happy.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I was like to enjoying it when you go to
- 5:14Speaker 2: a young playing football or whatever. So done it and
- 5:17Speaker 2: then took me back then left or that. I got
- 5:19Speaker 2: a wee sniff and the team and I don't think
- 5:21Speaker 2: I scored maybe damn it mass come off he fenied
- 5:24Speaker 2: or something, so he exhaustion. I got come on and
- 5:29Speaker 2: scored the free kick that game and that was sly
- 5:31Speaker 2: in the team.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Then onwards did he did he just give you the
- 5:34Speaker 1: license to go and play Bobby? Because he's anytime I
- 5:38Speaker 1: look at that team we are using it it.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Was four of us. I think it was me brilliant.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Was Booney coming as a coming as a striker I
- 5:47Speaker 2: think at the start or a winger or something like that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: He coming later with Mowbray, but Bunny coming as a
- 5:55Speaker 2: obviously a winger a striker. Then he ended up going
- 5:57Speaker 2: to right back and he said mid obviously with Celtic
- 6:01Speaker 2: and Hubs. But to be fair, Bobby was he was good.
- 6:06Speaker 2: He came up being big guys. We're like, well'm up
- 6:08Speaker 2: the boot and stuff. So so he liked that. He
- 6:11Speaker 2: liked to laugh, to be fair Bobby.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So after that, then you met a Celtic at two
- 6:16Speaker 1: thousand and five or soon, I think you're a Celic player.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It never really happened for it's Celtic. But can I
- 6:24Speaker 1: what was the difficulties of what did you find to
- 6:27Speaker 1: be Celtic.
- 6:29Speaker 2: It's Celtic. It was as I said, it's they've all
- 6:31Speaker 2: got good players for a start, so I've never got
- 6:33Speaker 2: to see no good players. But sometimes you didn't get
- 6:35Speaker 2: a fair crack of the whip and mys I think
- 6:38Speaker 2: I did they but it's a I think Aidan was
- 6:41Speaker 2: the left winger at the time, which is I've always
- 6:44Speaker 2: says I would play Aiding in front of me anyway,
- 6:46Speaker 2: as a left midfielder or whatever, because gone past people,
- 6:49Speaker 2: he's brilliant. I see I'm different. I think my better
- 6:53Speaker 2: finisher than then and stuff. But as I said, it
- 6:55Speaker 2: depends what the marger wants and what formations and all that.
- 6:57Speaker 2: But I wanted to play up front by obviously a big,
- 7:00Speaker 2: big guy, which would have been big Yan, which was perfect.
- 7:04Speaker 2: But as I said, Aidan Pooey do it on the left.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And I think it was at Knacko, maybe outing right
- 7:09Speaker 2: there off the center midwark. It was at Boonie And
- 7:14Speaker 2: at the start when I first was hardly partly hardly
- 7:17Speaker 2: went as a sitting different because defensive I.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Had just left and actually the meeting me Gordon a
- 7:26Speaker 3: week before I left, and then he brought us in
- 7:29Speaker 3: and it was like start of June and he asked
- 7:31Speaker 3: me about you, and he asked me about Paul Hartley
- 7:36Speaker 3: and it was like, would you think you think you
- 7:39Speaker 3: could play in the team, And I was like, that's
- 7:42Speaker 3: the best position. I think your best position would be,
- 7:45Speaker 3: you know, a ten or off off the striker of
- 7:48Speaker 3: a striker. I know you played a lot of times
- 7:50Speaker 3: against mysel coming after left, but a good natural finisher
- 7:55Speaker 3: and hardly asked about him. And a week later I left.
- 8:00Speaker 3: My contract was up, but you know I maintained he
- 8:03Speaker 3: didn't want me. You know, you signed Paul Telfa.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yep, but that.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Was that was Willow was well. I was Willow Mark
- 8:16Speaker 2: Willow and tell for one of the right backs, and
- 8:19Speaker 2: Hink Pinkle Hinkle coming as well.
- 8:21Speaker 3: He signed. The first one was will Virgo.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Was there when I went America and the preseason.
- 8:28Speaker 3: That's right, he was my replacement Virgo to start with.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Comfy was bright and at the time or or something
- 8:34Speaker 3: like that, it was.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Big money as well. I think if it was.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's interesting though that you're saying your top at megid
- 8:43Speaker 1: there because obviously I see Aiden's a totally different player
- 8:46Speaker 1: to you. But is that what is that what you
- 8:47Speaker 1: preferred to play coming in off that left on your
- 8:50Speaker 1: right foot.
- 8:51Speaker 2: It depends what the formation was when I think was
- 8:53Speaker 2: selter count You can play attacking anyways, but they've got
- 8:57Speaker 2: the most of the ball find back in the days anyway,
- 8:59Speaker 2: Definitely back then, I think Celic Rangers were obviously stronger then.
- 9:06Speaker 2: But ay, as I said, I always want to play
- 9:08Speaker 2: at a candy defense. So obviously my main thing was
- 9:11Speaker 2: was obviously scoring goals. I always want to be the
- 9:14Speaker 2: high schoal score, no matter what what to be the
- 9:17Speaker 2: high school score. I set pieces and stuff, so as
- 9:20Speaker 2: I say, as the marger always got the rain things
- 9:23Speaker 2: if they want to play them or whatever. And you've
- 9:24Speaker 2: just got to try and think me. But if you're
- 9:26Speaker 2: not happy enough playing then.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Which you ended up playing? How many games did you play?
- 9:29Speaker 2: I didn't even tell you. I can I tell you,
- 9:31Speaker 2: but I think it starts what I'll write for goals wise,
- 9:33Speaker 2: and I think it was all right for coming on
- 9:36Speaker 2: and if that makes sense, because I don't, I will
- 9:37Speaker 2: look at them more starts. And I think he started
- 9:40Speaker 2: me in which was strange that com on that game
- 9:44Speaker 2: when I won the league. Yeah, I think I go
- 9:46Speaker 2: cramp and I would never like that go cramp and
- 9:49Speaker 2: in the game and I've never used to get that.
- 9:51Speaker 2: But I just showed you because obviously I was playing
- 9:53Speaker 2: plain enough and I remember getting cramp and it wasn't
- 9:56Speaker 2: even that lay into the game, but.
- 10:00Speaker 3: It would just strange you put me into. Did you
- 10:02Speaker 3: see a big difference like one for Hibs to Celtic.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Of course you do. Obviously you're sixty thousand there for
- 10:11Speaker 2: whatever it is, fifty odds. And then but I think
- 10:14Speaker 2: it's a good thing. I think you need pressure. I
- 10:17Speaker 2: think people say thing will be pressure. It's a bit
- 10:21Speaker 2: strange because you do want a bit of it, if
- 10:22Speaker 2: you know what, You need a bit of nerves and things,
- 10:24Speaker 2: so because it keeps you on your toes, if that
- 10:26Speaker 2: makes sense. He didn't mean you're not bothered about anything.
- 10:29Speaker 2: So yeah, no, I think you need a bit of
- 10:31Speaker 2: pressure on football and stuff and nerves. You definitely need that.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously I knew you as a Hibs play at
- 10:40Speaker 1: that time. I just thought the Celtic thing with a
- 10:43Speaker 1: suited you. It just shows you sometimes in football. After that,
- 10:46Speaker 1: then where did you go after the Celtic, back to the.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Back to Hibbs, Hibbs, back to Hibbs. But as I say,
- 10:53Speaker 2: I had loads I think there was loads of offers
- 10:55Speaker 2: with at the time. And obviously Gordon says they needed me.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I tend to suggest it never but they wouldn't. He
- 11:03Speaker 2: let me go out alone. And then when you want
- 11:04Speaker 2: to do that, you want to go and improve people. You
- 11:06Speaker 2: want to go and brief people, prove people wrong and stuff.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I think it was Burnley and stuff that will what
- 11:10Speaker 2: take me doing. And I think they ended up going
- 11:12Speaker 2: a premiership maybe the year after it or the next
- 11:16Speaker 2: again year so you never know how football changes or whatever.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Then didn't let me go and end up going back
- 11:21Speaker 2: to Hibbs. It was a bit overweight and obviously I've
- 11:25Speaker 2: been a bit skinning it malinky all my days. Way
- 11:28Speaker 2: back back. I'll go back in Scotland squads and that
- 11:31Speaker 2: player of the months and all that again, and back
- 11:34Speaker 2: in the squads top goal scoring stuff and Dumbell again.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Then three year I think I stayed there my contract
- 11:43Speaker 2: in the what you knew me it was obviously lower
- 11:45Speaker 2: and us as well, remember sitting and I end up
- 11:48Speaker 2: going to China after that.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Three Scotland caps. You should have a lot more than that.
- 11:57Speaker 3: You must feel it does.
- 12:00Speaker 2: That's the only thing I would say that's sort of
- 12:02Speaker 2: hinglishy is the caps. And you'll see the players that
- 12:04Speaker 2: I've got more than you that in my eyes are
- 12:07Speaker 2: no better than me. If I didn't mind, players are
- 12:09Speaker 2: better me and stuff. But the people that've got mega caps,
- 12:11Speaker 2: I definitely.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Think, but assume we Gas. Yeah, I mean we carry
- 12:15Speaker 3: a corner and it's a position. It's an area where
- 12:19Speaker 3: I think we've always kind of struggled. Yeah, it was
- 12:22Speaker 3: getting goals, especially at that level. Yep, you know, and
- 12:25Speaker 3: you should have a lot more than three caps.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Think it was obviously it was the days. It was
- 12:31Speaker 2: like Kenny up front, which to be fair, Kenny done
- 12:33Speaker 2: a good job because it was that type getting your caps.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Who was your caps? One against?
- 12:43Speaker 2: The last cap was funny enough was member Burdley. I
- 12:45Speaker 2: think was the beat five now at Wales and you
- 12:48Speaker 2: go to Sack I think then it was Levina coming.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Then that's when I got bombed back at the Scotland squad.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It was weird because I got Player of the Month
- 12:55Speaker 2: when I.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Was with this.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So yeah, as I say, it's every manager's got the
- 13:01Speaker 2: rain personas or whatever, the water player, whoever you want
- 13:05Speaker 2: to put it. It was Austria. I think Japan was one,
- 13:10Speaker 2: and Japan it would have been Wills also go beat five.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Now I come on the sub and they go beat five.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Now.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I think it was Burdley's last match, but I was
- 13:20Speaker 2: always on the bench all look way water mm hmmm.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Because you didn't get the Caps is only when you
- 13:24Speaker 2: come on, isn't it. So I was always on the
- 13:26Speaker 2: Caps and that.
- 13:27Speaker 1: As well, weren't you yous?
- 13:30Speaker 3: It was thirty three caps, but I must have been
- 13:34Speaker 3: eighty squads.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Ay, well that's I think that's what I was. I
- 13:37Speaker 2: was always in the squads and the benches. But obviously
- 13:39Speaker 2: it's just never get known. It was always what the runners.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Obviously Kenny was good for these Joe and Nadas because
- 13:45Speaker 2: we weren't. I didn't we were the best they compared
- 13:48Speaker 2: to what we've done now. But yeah, you always needed
- 13:50Speaker 2: their runners up front. I think I don't think I was.
- 13:54Speaker 2: It was a running time anyway.
- 13:56Speaker 3: They wanted the fallards to defend. That's the problem, and
- 14:00Speaker 3: I started the defense started through the front. Yeah, and
- 14:05Speaker 3: you know, rather than the creativity and which we really
- 14:07Speaker 3: lacked that ley, I think we have for a number
- 14:11Speaker 3: of years. But it was more get everybody behind the
- 14:14Speaker 3: ball and then seem team in ninety eight Wor'll come
- 14:22Speaker 3: you know everybody there. It was a back say it
- 14:26Speaker 3: was a back three, it was a back five. You
- 14:28Speaker 3: know it's five at the back, three in midfield and
- 14:31Speaker 3: with keV Galla behind the ball and triangle the ball
- 14:35Speaker 3: was up front, then Joky Golden Jury and Jack Gallica,
- 14:40Speaker 3: but it was always having the going got your balls
- 14:43Speaker 3: off the start up the top.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Who was who was the manager? Then he tried he
- 14:48Speaker 2: tried to sign me a pressing for the enough mm hmm.
- 14:53Speaker 1: So China, what was the experience? How did that come out?
- 15:00Speaker 2: But it was weird. I was playing golf one enough
- 15:02Speaker 2: and it was an agent for Newcastle. He Franz Carr.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I think his name was. I didn't I didn't know
- 15:09Speaker 2: put the forest, I didn't know. I didn't know, but
- 15:12Speaker 2: it was it was him a phone me on the
- 15:13Speaker 2: golf course and I think it was about two weeks
- 15:16Speaker 2: into the hour season or whatever up here yea and
- 15:19Speaker 2: asked me about thing. Were it known that obviously that salary,
- 15:23Speaker 2: I say, is not for me going to way over
- 15:25Speaker 2: there obviously already had big golfers to go to. Yeah, Rush,
- 15:29Speaker 2: I know, I didn't know want to go obviously. Then
- 15:33Speaker 2: they come back again a couple of weeks later and
- 15:35Speaker 2: he says, right, that's that's fine, on the weight ahead
- 15:38Speaker 2: with that and went over there and it was mental.
- 15:40Speaker 3: It was so Jacko went there and I didn't. He
- 15:43Speaker 3: lasted a week.
- 15:44Speaker 2: But honestly, the foot I think I think that was right.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I heard that and loss as well, Shank Shanksy chamber
- 15:52Speaker 2: that we're called.
- 15:54Speaker 1: But is that the same team as Jacko's.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I don't know, but Jacko last these teams like they
- 15:59Speaker 3: come in and they dissolve and stuff that s meant
- 16:02Speaker 3: get food poisoned and became he lost about of stone.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Well I come.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Back, I looked like I was dying. Could be fair
- 16:10Speaker 2: when I come back as well. Just honestly, the food
- 16:14Speaker 2: like that, I was like gold even just water and stuff.
- 16:17Speaker 2: It was Coca Cola was like Christmas. Where we were,
- 16:20Speaker 2: it was of Disney westernized and I'm thinking, I'll get
- 16:23Speaker 2: a chicken. Chicken got that it's basically running about the table.
- 16:31Speaker 2: The chicken was like basically running a book. That's a
- 16:33Speaker 2: bit exaggeration, but it was like you know what I mean,
- 16:36Speaker 2: It was like a fuel chicken basically where ice at
- 16:39Speaker 2: the side and that I was like, fuck s no.
- 16:42Speaker 2: And eventually you start to find the places that turned
- 16:45Speaker 2: the western ice food. But you're like an hour away.
- 16:47Speaker 2: So I was stalking up on subway subway sandwiches, putting
- 16:51Speaker 2: them in the fridge. About seven sandwiches at times it
- 16:53Speaker 2: was about an hour walking that the roads and their stuff.
- 16:56Speaker 2: You just seen a carash every morning. So I sort
- 16:59Speaker 2: of stayed next over with Fabio for money. He was
- 17:01Speaker 2: leaving as I was gone. So when I signed, seemingly
- 17:05Speaker 2: they got riddy like a serfbe and boy we had
- 17:08Speaker 2: two Serbian managers. It was honestly, it was like guys
- 17:12Speaker 2: for the pub, you.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Just got your cell as well.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I went my cell as well, so I probably should
- 17:16Speaker 2: have took some day to be fair, but I didn't
- 17:19Speaker 2: quite lost a language. I just so you had to
- 17:22Speaker 2: rely on. Eddie was like the translator for you, and
- 17:26Speaker 2: he didn't even know what I'm saying all that. So
- 17:27Speaker 2: I'm I'll be swearing at the matager and stuff because
- 17:31Speaker 2: I'm trying to stay out in the extra kind of
- 17:32Speaker 2: free kicks and shooting and stuff shouting at me get
- 17:35Speaker 2: on the bus and I'm like trying to do a
- 17:37Speaker 2: wee bit extra. But even like the grass, the grass
- 17:39Speaker 2: length and what that was, like that and stuff and
- 17:41Speaker 2: him just just different word was the standard. Like to
- 17:45Speaker 2: be honest, right, I wrote them were good day. Remember
- 17:47Speaker 2: some ge high he played in my team, so you
- 17:50Speaker 2: had to show like it was older people respect it
- 17:53Speaker 2: must be like their culture or whatever. Yeah, became amany
- 17:57Speaker 2: and obviously moan like mad and it's like did it
- 18:00Speaker 2: kind of speak like that to people and stuff? I
- 18:03Speaker 2: was like, no, passing the ball like whatever, because it's
- 18:06Speaker 2: clear as day, you can see it. But it's like
- 18:08Speaker 2: there's no switched stone up there like passing in that.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But their technical wise was it was really good and
- 18:14Speaker 2: number fit as anything old.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Did you last six months?
- 18:18Speaker 1: Five?
- 18:18Speaker 2: Six months?
- 18:19Speaker 3: Too bad?
- 18:20Speaker 2: But they were trying to get me out over there.
- 18:23Speaker 2: So I'm on my end and then my agent when
- 18:25Speaker 2: they come over and I was like, you need to
- 18:26Speaker 2: come over, basically threatening me, which so I remember being
- 18:31Speaker 2: in the in the room and had obviously five six
- 18:35Speaker 2: Chinese people and Eddie's god, no, you better signing that
- 18:39Speaker 2: contract and famous almost signing nothing. But then they come
- 18:42Speaker 2: into paper that says i'd wear a wall or something
- 18:44Speaker 2: that was in the sun. You'd probably see if you
- 18:46Speaker 2: searched the back, you would see it. They had been
- 18:48Speaker 2: training basically like six in the morning and then two
- 18:50Speaker 2: in the afternoon and like nine at night, try to
- 18:53Speaker 2: get me out. I'm not going out anyway, And anyway,
- 18:57Speaker 2: eventually six months or sting after agreement there, I was gone.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I was actually glad to be fair, because it was
- 19:03Speaker 2: it was.
- 19:04Speaker 3: A bit of relief.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Is really hard over there, like it was totally different.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Just everything was family as well. Had a wee lasting
- 19:14Speaker 2: that at the time as well. So they couldn't come,
- 19:17Speaker 2: You couldn't. You couldn't take them over there. Different planet's
- 19:22Speaker 2: five of them on a motorbike and that just the
- 19:25Speaker 2: helmets and crashes every two seconds. So we had the
- 19:28Speaker 2: driver as well. Me and Fabi used to get driven
- 19:30Speaker 2: to train and even then it was still don't you.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Other europe It was other European players.
- 19:35Speaker 2: It was only Fabio for money. He played at Lazio, so.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Chinese guy, no.
- 19:40Speaker 2: But the Brazilian so that was so he ever be
- 19:44Speaker 2: group and you're two certainly is.
- 19:45Speaker 3: That when they started like throwing real money.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Ay try to sing. Lampard left for me it was
- 19:51Speaker 2: two hundred and fifty grand a week or something they
- 19:53Speaker 2: got offered or something and says, now shows you what
- 19:56Speaker 2: type of players they are on or whatever. But they
- 19:59Speaker 2: must have thought no, but I think then dropped on
- 20:00Speaker 2: all that started coming maybe about six months after TV's
- 20:03Speaker 2: and all that they started going because they were chucking
- 20:06Speaker 2: scanning money, some of the decisions and all that, the
- 20:09Speaker 2: referee and stuff on the pictures and stuff. It just
- 20:13Speaker 2: didn't seem right. So I eventually fell out with him.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I was putting the bringing. So there was two Serby
- 20:20Speaker 2: and Marger. The first one we were sitting second. We
- 20:22Speaker 2: were actually doing well. He seemed he seemed he was
- 20:25Speaker 2: a nice guy. Second one coming he was like a
- 20:28Speaker 2: really old guy. All we warlord, we said, and that.
- 20:34Speaker 2: So I ended up arguing me because he was like
- 20:35Speaker 2: really angry, really angry type of person, and they eventually
- 20:41Speaker 2: started to get used to me what type of person
- 20:44Speaker 2: I was. Obviously, then they bring enough sacked him sitting Ford.
- 20:48Speaker 2: So this was only this is only within five months
- 20:50Speaker 2: six months I was there, sacked two guys sitting second
- 20:53Speaker 2: and Ford, and then they brung a Chinese guy in.
- 20:55Speaker 2: So obviously you've got to show respect to this culture thing. Obviously.
- 20:59Speaker 2: So it was rudy for play. Remember, I says, play
- 21:03Speaker 2: me ooting the left. Depend on what for me? She
- 21:05Speaker 2: was ooting the left or up front bay another striker,
- 21:09Speaker 2: So she puts me in the right wing, says, I
- 21:12Speaker 2: says the left. So anyways, took me off from the
- 21:14Speaker 2: one that's cut inside and had the shop goales tipped
- 21:16Speaker 2: around the post. We're getting beat one out halftime, I
- 21:19Speaker 2: get substituted obviously, so I've sparted dummy and that was it.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Then that was when it all went wrong. So it
- 21:24Speaker 2: must be the culture hang with them and that was
- 21:26Speaker 2: it basically for there.
- 21:28Speaker 3: But do you regret going out?
- 21:30Speaker 2: Nah? Knots. I've tried it. So as I said, I
- 21:33Speaker 2: had the choice choice to go.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Your time again like all of it. Yeah, she could
- 21:42Speaker 3: say ay and no, So I didn't regret.
- 21:43Speaker 2: And then because you didn't get bigger than Celtic and
- 21:46Speaker 2: that type of stuff. My family obviously, my mum signed
- 21:48Speaker 2: the family or Celtic fans, so I never along the
- 21:51Speaker 2: road it's perfect for me, but probably gone maybe leads
- 21:56Speaker 2: or something when the leads try to sign me. A
- 21:58Speaker 2: couple of times Cardiff as well, and I didn't. I
- 22:01Speaker 2: didn't fancy at the time. I don't know why when
- 22:04Speaker 2: you were at HBBS. That's when I was at HBBS
- 22:07Speaker 2: first time and then hand the second time.
- 22:10Speaker 1: What made you know go for that?
- 22:12Speaker 2: I don't know the time I didn't kime what was
- 22:16Speaker 2: why I didn't go down to them impressed. And obviously
- 22:19Speaker 2: that was the other one with Craig Brown and.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Homeboy.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Maybe back then I probably put it into that then
- 22:26Speaker 2: obviously my contract was so I could away to handle
- 22:29Speaker 2: lect and stuff. I met him actually and a Hoo's
- 22:33Speaker 2: and the guy actually.
- 22:34Speaker 3: And.
- 22:36Speaker 2: They seemed really distracted. So I didn't fancy that. And
- 22:40Speaker 2: what they do is that, you know, to drink and stuff.
- 22:42Speaker 2: That was the other things told that just yeah, but
- 22:46Speaker 2: I didn't think you should be doing what that makes
- 22:48Speaker 2: sense kind of.
- 22:50Speaker 3: I think we are background with the night clubs in
- 22:53Speaker 3: Edinburgh and we get banned.
- 22:56Speaker 2: That's still gone is it's still in the nightclub only
- 23:00Speaker 2: getting certain places. I it's mental, but it's ridiculous. Hbbs
- 23:05Speaker 2: actually try to sort it for me back in the day,
- 23:08Speaker 2: so I wannestly I used to go added on. So
- 23:11Speaker 2: if you get into somewhere and you were spotted in.
- 23:13Speaker 3: That place with just any bar or club, it.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Was all nightclubs. It was basically on nightclubs, and I
- 23:19Speaker 2: think it got doubled and trebled treble board whatever. So
- 23:24Speaker 2: that's what ended up happening.
- 23:26Speaker 3: So how did that come out? Just a fight one night?
- 23:29Speaker 2: To be fair, The first one that banned me was
- 23:33Speaker 2: a guy in Funny Enough, the guy in a place
- 23:35Speaker 2: that you still go. The guy actually got sacked and
- 23:37Speaker 2: that was the one that caused the band that start
- 23:39Speaker 2: for stealing it the safe the band started for and
- 23:43Speaker 2: I got caught in like in a nightclub basically where
- 23:47Speaker 2: you're not supposed to be. But that's when Hibbs actually
- 23:50Speaker 2: had to get a list made up for so it
- 23:52Speaker 2: was only certain ones at the time. Then they all
- 23:54Speaker 2: started adding on a list of the main ones.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Then would that be.
- 23:58Speaker 2: It was like the one that got caught for the
- 24:01Speaker 2: first one added on an extra three year or whatever
- 24:04Speaker 2: it was was. Remember espionage, Yeah, that's where it was espinage.
- 24:07Speaker 1: What do you mean you get caught?
- 24:09Speaker 2: I've been in it. So it's like if if you
- 24:11Speaker 2: were band fit, they added on extra To be honest,
- 24:16Speaker 2: they were adding things on the Then Billy's Laws place
- 24:18Speaker 2: was one of them as well. The more than that,
- 24:20Speaker 2: so it's a group of like all the owners of
- 24:22Speaker 2: the night clubs, basically the groups, and it was hard
- 24:25Speaker 2: to walk a book with an actual list once to
- 24:27Speaker 2: the list was huge. You's a bigbo as well, so
- 24:30Speaker 2: I was allowed to go into his place only for
- 24:32Speaker 2: the Christmas night, so with one cousin or one part
- 24:37Speaker 2: that's always allowed.
- 24:39Speaker 1: M hmm.
- 24:40Speaker 2: It was ridiculous. Honestly, the rules were ridiculous.
- 24:43Speaker 1: What was it to get into a couple of fights?
- 24:46Speaker 2: I no like what they may cookie be because the
- 24:50Speaker 2: millions of people that are a lot worse getting place.
- 24:53Speaker 2: But I think they just tried tried to basically promote
- 24:56Speaker 2: it with the Unite thing.
- 24:58Speaker 3: It was called I kind of get together though don't
- 25:01Speaker 3: need That's what I was at Celtic. I was in
- 25:07Speaker 3: one of the places I never really know much, but
- 25:10Speaker 3: I did. I was and a guy had put the
- 25:13Speaker 3: head on me as I was coming a certain area.
- 25:18Speaker 1: What was that called again in Edinburgh?
- 25:21Speaker 3: Edinburgh and the bouncil just seen me obviously go down
- 25:24Speaker 3: and the marster's out. I had a cut in my eye,
- 25:27Speaker 3: but I wasn't in an argument of nothing. The guy
- 25:30Speaker 3: just it's an opportunity and he's putting the head on us.
- 25:33Speaker 3: But actually got to the bottom. But it was put
- 25:37Speaker 3: it was in the paper and all that as if
- 25:39Speaker 3: like I had picked up something, I've done something more
- 25:41Speaker 3: you caused it because don't want it to be what
- 25:44Speaker 3: was the name of that eros.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Eros was used to go Eros I used to go
- 25:49Speaker 2: and was one of the good ones, but.
- 25:50Speaker 3: I never I don't I went ever went back there
- 25:53Speaker 3: after that. I mean I didn't got much anyway, but
- 25:56Speaker 3: I was coming to speak to somebody and the v
- 25:59Speaker 3: I peepa.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yep, so they just Eros was quite Eros was one
- 26:04Speaker 2: of the roughy ones, to be fair, but that was
- 26:07Speaker 2: one of the good ones as well. Yeah, and your
- 26:09Speaker 2: Brannigan's next door, Remember I find a big sty bar one.
- 26:14Speaker 2: But as I say, I think they just tried to
- 26:16Speaker 2: promote all that unite stuff and that nass Tom I says, well,
- 26:18Speaker 2: I'm you can't stop me going out. It's ridiculous obviously
- 26:23Speaker 2: obviously I'm fair and brough as well, So what do
- 26:26Speaker 2: you expect me to day travel the club?
- 26:28Speaker 1: Try to do that with you?
- 26:29Speaker 2: A couple of couple of all right, to be fair,
- 26:31Speaker 2: there one of that bad with me lasts well, I
- 26:34Speaker 2: didn't even know I'm barred for there. You kind of
- 26:36Speaker 2: just kind of guess where I'm bandfait And eventually they
- 26:38Speaker 2: come up with that last time lubbish. You still you
- 26:42Speaker 2: still get fring me. But the dorm and that are
- 26:44Speaker 2: fine because it's all changing now because it's like twenty
- 26:47Speaker 2: year ago, but try and still do it now.
- 26:49Speaker 1: It's still the places you wreck now now that you're oh, you'll.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Still get places like Yean and that I mad just
- 26:55Speaker 2: because it will still be the same owner type people.
- 26:59Speaker 2: That's what was mm hmmm.
- 27:01Speaker 1: So did you go hubs three times? Did you go
- 27:04Speaker 1: back to hubs again twice? Twice? After China?
- 27:08Speaker 2: China? After China, I had the chance to go to
- 27:11Speaker 2: actually Brentford that's where it was. I think it was Wrostler.
- 27:15Speaker 2: He was a manager. But I've had enough. My head
- 27:18Speaker 2: was always hanging after that China, honestly, and I was
- 27:21Speaker 2: like that Instagram over there though snow like Chinese food,
- 27:32Speaker 2: so Chi Chippy. Last night it was I saw come back.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I think kind I've got Saint Johnston because I was
- 27:42Speaker 2: up and I went Saint Johns. I did in the
- 27:44Speaker 2: last long to be fair, I got Sack then, so
- 27:50Speaker 2: I took the huff Who's never played? They played it?
- 27:54Speaker 2: Tin Castle.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Who's the gaffer there?
- 27:55Speaker 2: It was Steve as it was he was ever That
- 28:01Speaker 2: group was really good. That was probably the worst drinker
- 28:03Speaker 2: and the worst drinking group I've been at a cup.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I think was Saint Johnston, brilliant, all brilliant guys and stuff.
- 28:12Speaker 2: But what happened is we played Harts and I only
- 28:15Speaker 2: had just joined basically, and I think did he put
- 28:19Speaker 2: me I can't remember if we put me, start me
- 28:21Speaker 2: in sub or whatever and put me on the bench
- 28:22Speaker 2: I come on or something. Obviously I was getting pure
- 28:25Speaker 2: pelt us warming up and they had a Player of
- 28:28Speaker 2: the Year night or whatever it was away back at Perth.
- 28:32Speaker 2: So I've obviously said for I've only just joined, like
- 28:35Speaker 2: literally this week or the week before, they pointed me
- 28:38Speaker 2: going away back up there. So I was in the
- 28:39Speaker 2: half anyway for being on the bench obviously at Hearts
- 28:42Speaker 2: and I went out that night and I got lifted,
- 28:46Speaker 2: So that was probably got how lifted it was, And
- 28:52Speaker 2: that was for being in a That was for being
- 28:55Speaker 2: in a cub And I got legging the line down
- 28:57Speaker 2: the stairs with the doorman.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And the households.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Beatings and all.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Nah, no really not but that one there they were
- 29:06Speaker 2: sitting on me in a puddle kind of like your
- 29:08Speaker 2: arms up on loving road to the police come. So
- 29:11Speaker 2: they could have actually just let you go, you know
- 29:13Speaker 2: what I mean, Because I've never done any wrong. Would
- 29:15Speaker 2: want to make a scene by so that's where it happens.
- 29:20Speaker 2: And if I've done any long obviously I don't. I
- 29:21Speaker 2: was always admitted if I've done something.
- 29:23Speaker 1: But don't a target. Is that an obvious thing is
- 29:29Speaker 1: because I've only known you in years, we had you
- 29:32Speaker 1: done it touching that the minute. But you don't come
- 29:35Speaker 1: across to me as that you matured. You don't come
- 29:37Speaker 1: across as a guy that does bother never own guy.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Do you feel as if in your early days because
- 29:45Speaker 1: you get into the house team.
- 29:46Speaker 2: It's probably because you're local as well. It's as I say,
- 29:48Speaker 2: it's for my pals and stuff, and it is obviously
- 29:52Speaker 2: there is obviously bothering stuff when you're you're young in that,
- 29:54Speaker 2: but certainly know to what the extremes it made it
- 29:58Speaker 2: things worth. I mean it's singing. I didn't know what
- 30:01Speaker 2: grief anybody played football and stuff, so no, I didn't
- 30:05Speaker 2: want that. But that's it. That's what you kind of changing.
- 30:09Speaker 2: So whatever do you never.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Never came across as like a trouble maker.
- 30:16Speaker 2: That's what I said. Look of the players that.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Comes to stuff you turned into a maniac way.
- 30:20Speaker 2: But this is this is what I'm saying though, but
- 30:22Speaker 2: you got when like player's go the stories here, you're
- 30:26Speaker 2: like pure hannibal lecture and stuff. I was like, I
- 30:28Speaker 2: don't know where the comfy was, but that just shows
- 30:31Speaker 2: you people talk crap.
- 30:32Speaker 3: You only like that even a drink, you will that
- 30:35Speaker 3: we switched to go crazy.
- 30:37Speaker 2: No, no, no, not just well you've seen you for
- 30:44Speaker 2: a few drinks for use a few times.
- 30:45Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. What I'm saying when I look
- 30:47Speaker 1: back at it, I think maybe just target of course
- 30:50Speaker 1: who you are.
- 30:51Speaker 2: They didn't arguing that uniting was honestly united. That band
- 30:55Speaker 2: last thing was a fast and that just seemed to
- 30:57Speaker 2: make the paper all the time. Because I didn't like
- 31:00Speaker 2: getting told what to day as well, if you know
- 31:02Speaker 2: what I mean, I bought my bard for there had
- 31:06Speaker 2: any answers for you to see how you were barred.
- 31:08Speaker 2: That was the funny thing.
- 31:09Speaker 3: I mean, the definitely if you're going to and causing boy,
- 31:11Speaker 3: you know, getting steaming and starting fire, somebody.
- 31:14Speaker 2: May because bother it was maybe because somebody's like yourself,
- 31:17Speaker 2: somebody has obviously tried to day something that would be it. Yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 2: but no going because of brother John.
- 31:24Speaker 1: So many clubs after how long after that you've done it,
- 31:28Speaker 1: you and your last club.
- 31:32Speaker 2: No, I went to Edinburgh City Edinburgh Sy I finished it,
- 31:37Speaker 2: but that was between John. You're just basically watching the boy.
- 31:40Speaker 3: That was League two wasn't bad.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Sorry, No, I waited Bristol Rovers, Bristol Rovers. It was
- 31:52Speaker 2: Mark McGee, that's what it was. And there was a
- 31:55Speaker 2: few Scotch boys and that we're there. Clarkson was there
- 31:59Speaker 2: then a party is it parts him Jim Jim parts
- 32:05Speaker 2: and he was there, Garry Kenneth. So there was a
- 32:07Speaker 2: few because it was Mark McGee was the marger Well,
- 32:10Speaker 2: that's what was thought. It was funnier folk. He's what
- 32:14Speaker 2: me about. I know it was. It was Gordon's obviously
- 32:17Speaker 2: best bower By. As soon as I got in the
- 32:20Speaker 2: taxi had to be manas they've got a problem for you.
- 32:22Speaker 2: I was all right, just a bit strange that comes
- 32:25Speaker 2: to you and I but I enjoyed it doing there
- 32:29Speaker 2: to be for you, and it was quite hard. So
- 32:31Speaker 2: I just had the mother kids. So I was flying
- 32:34Speaker 2: up and I'm never an injury poll and I actually
- 32:37Speaker 2: pulled my hamstring well because I was flying up and
- 32:41Speaker 2: don because of the kids, and they were brilliant. They
- 32:43Speaker 2: actually sent stuff up to the hoose for the kid
- 32:46Speaker 2: and all that actually a good company club. I just
- 32:51Speaker 2: I think gee got sacked, I think and sees you
- 32:54Speaker 2: think that is when the new marger Cos half here
- 32:57Speaker 2: and I'll be up the road. I think after Christmas
- 32:59Speaker 2: or whatever it was back up the road because of
- 33:02Speaker 2: one of them. I was basically playing like left wing back.
- 33:04Speaker 2: You know what I was like doing in England? Are
- 33:06Speaker 2: all big units dias only my head the best big
- 33:10Speaker 2: meat heads. I love you. So there wasn't a good
- 33:13Speaker 2: football as well. To be fair, they were a week
- 33:17Speaker 2: too as well.
- 33:18Speaker 1: I think we.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Played them away.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember playing them away and all the feat I.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Think we were wanting to start.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Let go or they loved the Gary Kenneth and that,
- 33:30Speaker 2: don't you. So it just showed you what their mentality
- 33:34Speaker 2: was for football boys. Yeah, he did it for the yard.
- 33:38Speaker 3: It was the other end. It was a culture shop.
- 33:41Speaker 2: But I end up ended a parking me Gary Kenneth.
- 33:45Speaker 2: So he was telling me how to free kick and
- 33:47Speaker 2: I was like, so we end up we'll go splap
- 33:50Speaker 2: in the chains room through the boys were hudding obviously
- 33:54Speaker 2: back and that was Aslortly didn't enjoy it on the
- 33:58Speaker 2: rest of that because the football wasn't good and there
- 34:01Speaker 2: was loads of arguments in the changing rooms and stuff.
- 34:03Speaker 1: What made you company up? Then it would be nice
- 34:05Speaker 1: to persuade you obviously.
- 34:07Speaker 2: As I say, it's not even far either. You know,
- 34:09Speaker 2: it's a nice place to be fair, it's really nice.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I like it. I liked it doing that as well.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Obviously used to use word I went for me, even
- 34:15Speaker 2: though I didn't play much. See, I didn't mind it.
- 34:17Speaker 2: See like if managers and that are good, it's fine.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Obviously I'm coming towards my end trying to get you
- 34:23Speaker 2: up to speak.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember I was remembers sitting in the office
- 34:27Speaker 1: with the chairman and.
- 34:30Speaker 3: I was totally a bite before we brought him down.
- 34:33Speaker 1: But we put his reel on on YouTube. Every goals,
- 34:37Speaker 1: every goal was better than the last one, and it's like,
- 34:41Speaker 1: you get this guy done.
- 34:43Speaker 2: As I say, it's it's getting the chances and stuff
- 34:46Speaker 2: as well. You want to take chances when it comes
- 34:48Speaker 2: and stuff. And when I say, I told you when
- 34:50Speaker 2: I looked at that forty, when I've seen that forty
- 34:52Speaker 2: stretching up other beer gut, But then you didn't You've
- 34:54Speaker 2: got you.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Know what, so remember me taking you for the shooting
- 34:58Speaker 1: thing A didn't wanted it again.
- 35:01Speaker 2: It was quite runny. That was like the sky they said,
- 35:04Speaker 2: the sky is running.
- 35:05Speaker 1: The sky is running. After that, never again did you
- 35:10Speaker 1: think they're moved to me? And I'll finish some of the.
- 35:12Speaker 3: You're seeing you the city. You're the same weight or
- 35:14Speaker 3: that as your world when your hobs and with a bit.
- 35:18Speaker 3: I really like your honesty, but yours. But it was
- 35:23Speaker 3: the boxing was on and your flat was right off
- 35:27Speaker 3: fifty yards fairls. I think it was like midnight and
- 35:32Speaker 3: we were talking about getting you fit. Nor At and says,
- 35:34Speaker 3: I'll take something that shooting you can get decup to speeding,
- 35:38Speaker 3: or that you will score goals. You'll fucking piss it
- 35:41Speaker 3: on this level. I was, I know, I had no doubt.
- 35:44Speaker 3: You need to get them up and you get them fed.
- 35:46Speaker 3: You get on there and then you text him. It
- 35:49Speaker 3: was like midnight. The boxing, one of the big boxing
- 35:53Speaker 3: bouts was on. He is like you, I've just ordered
- 35:55Speaker 3: a pizza.
- 35:56Speaker 2: It was something, but that take away it's because it
- 35:59Speaker 2: was in mine. It's will remember. It was like a.
- 36:03Speaker 1: How we coat had one? It's me you and in
- 36:06Speaker 1: one flat, you're another flat. But as he said, the innocence,
- 36:09Speaker 1: it was the honesty about it, because he also text me.
- 36:12Speaker 2: One moment I didn't like story line.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I like to tell you, I'm going to the shop.
- 36:17Speaker 1: You want any fry stuff? Get this guy fat No.
- 36:24Speaker 2: But as good as I said, the joy that they're
- 36:25Speaker 2: obviously was used to it. It helps it over. You
- 36:28Speaker 2: get me the coaches, and that's what I meaning.
- 36:30Speaker 1: So but what I remember as well, because we'd all
- 36:34Speaker 1: be other difficulties in that dis room and I'm not
- 36:37Speaker 1: going that even a popular boy in that dish room,
- 36:41Speaker 1: I thought.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I way everyone liked. Obviously, it's hard because you think
- 36:46Speaker 2: maybe we used and I think maybe I say something that,
- 36:50Speaker 2: but I say, I'm neverthing like.
- 36:51Speaker 3: That because of what you've done before and what you've achieved,
- 36:56Speaker 3: you know, and people look up to that and you're
- 36:57Speaker 3: still doing it. I know you're down there.
- 36:59Speaker 2: But it was just it was quite hard.
- 37:02Speaker 3: It was just it was a toxic for us, even before,
- 37:06Speaker 3: way before you came down. It was toxic.
- 37:08Speaker 2: You know, a few arguments with groups, remember that was
- 37:11Speaker 2: to be good things. I remember in arguments at half
- 37:15Speaker 2: times or whatever it was. It was like with each
- 37:17Speaker 2: other and stuff.
- 37:19Speaker 3: It was. It's not not a happy time. They talk
- 37:24Speaker 3: about regrets and things that you would change for me.
- 37:27Speaker 3: That would be one thing. I mean, I never never
- 37:30Speaker 3: applied for the job going down there. I'd only been
- 37:33Speaker 3: a month, but my time again, I wouldn't. I wouldn't.
- 37:38Speaker 3: The only thing it did did stop me doing management again.
- 37:41Speaker 3: You know that after United was it was quite It
- 37:47Speaker 3: was quite tough in the last sort of six months
- 37:49Speaker 3: it done United, but we had good moments, yeah, moments
- 37:54Speaker 3: at all, and that kind of took my appetite away
- 37:59Speaker 3: from doing that being involved in it again. You know,
- 38:02Speaker 3: the management it was kind of and you and.
- 38:06Speaker 4: It totally totally just a difficult hard got people that
- 38:14Speaker 4: aren you've the room before even step into for other reasons.
- 38:20Speaker 2: kN that happens. It happens every every club, doesn't matter
- 38:23Speaker 2: where where it is.
- 38:24Speaker 1: But a nice place.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Easy right, the night clubs, you've got any clubs in there?
- 38:35Speaker 2: What was the we did? What was the didn't she?
- 38:39Speaker 2: And then she ended up jumping into my pals coming
- 38:41Speaker 2: back up the road, and that I was just saying
- 38:43Speaker 2: coming up and they had up but they hadn't even
- 38:47Speaker 2: been sleep back on the training back up your pals.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Once she ended up on the train with them. It
- 38:54Speaker 2: was because I stid didn't made Danny and his missus
- 38:57Speaker 2: and so they were all right. They were actually quite
- 38:59Speaker 2: good for me. They were making the they were making
- 39:02Speaker 2: my dinners and I had soap. It was perfect Danny, right.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I forgot, but they did the same block.
- 39:09Speaker 2: He was ooting the road rollers all the time, Danny,
- 39:11Speaker 2: and that hight. I'm through putting the computers Chinese the PlayStation,
- 39:18Speaker 2: Oh god, so that's that's what I've done. Basically, was
- 39:22Speaker 2: on the Xbox or whatever and watch football night.
- 39:26Speaker 1: See involved in football in any capacity now to be
- 39:29Speaker 1: man just just he playing.
- 39:32Speaker 2: He's in hibs and now as well as doing well
- 39:34Speaker 2: to be fair good left it is all left fed.
- 39:37Speaker 2: It's all lefty.
- 39:38Speaker 1: So I think it's left.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Oh I don't know. I mean just something right fight anyway.
- 39:42Speaker 2: But the left was all right, and I was practicing
- 39:45Speaker 2: to be fair. That was all through practice, and left
- 39:47Speaker 2: has always looked better as well. I think they do
- 39:50Speaker 2: look better left us.
- 39:53Speaker 3: The stuff you'd pass on to him, would you pass
- 39:55Speaker 3: on your bodying?
- 39:59Speaker 2: I just as long as he works hard. It's probably
- 40:03Speaker 2: thinly coming for me for working hard. But I just say,
- 40:06Speaker 2: as long as you work hard, then's your football. I'll
- 40:08Speaker 2: do the talking anyways. Just work hard and I'll be
- 40:11Speaker 2: He's only eleven, but is it at that age where
- 40:14Speaker 2: his own zook came and you're there's no paying attention
- 40:16Speaker 2: and stuff. It's just obviously he's only young, so he's
- 40:20Speaker 2: he needs to pick up where he run and stuff,
- 40:24Speaker 2: just but picking up passes and stuff. The set pieces.
- 40:27Speaker 2: He does take some corners. Is the left winger plays
- 40:30Speaker 2: rooting the right right coming in coming in, but he does,
- 40:33Speaker 2: he smokes. The boy hits it hard, like does He's
- 40:36Speaker 2: got a good good at finishing, to be honest, he's
- 40:39Speaker 2: got some some good goals already. But outside of that,
- 40:42Speaker 2: taking him his football then taking them to Hibs games.
- 40:45Speaker 1: So you don't have that hankering to get And the.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Only thing I would day would probably be I wouldn't
- 40:53Speaker 2: mind going to heights scout players and that's probably what
- 40:55Speaker 2: I like, or finishing because you did just fish.
- 40:58Speaker 3: You got that book four agency.
- 41:05Speaker 2: It's hard pointless as well, Nah, I don't know, just finishing,
- 41:10Speaker 2: finishing and scouting. I wouldn't mind got to watch players
- 41:12Speaker 2: and that because there's players that I've looked at only actually,
- 41:15Speaker 2: well that's the only thing I would think, but assistant
- 41:19Speaker 2: managers and managers and coaching. I'd like to just be
- 41:23Speaker 2: in the background having a laugh, like yourself if you're
- 41:26Speaker 2: finishing and all that that type and like McCoys would
- 41:29Speaker 2: sort of day back in the day way Yeah, it's
- 41:30Speaker 2: Scotland and stuff, just there for having the laugh, taking strikers.
- 41:34Speaker 1: And I think there is higher levels now, but there
- 41:37Speaker 1: should be room for that.
- 41:38Speaker 2: You've got set piece.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Piece Corges, I know, but you can in the working
- 41:43Speaker 1: me young boys and finishing.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Just finishing and stuff. I it's like I already sort
- 41:49Speaker 2: of know. It's weird. You should. I think if you're
- 41:52Speaker 2: a decent player, you've got sortly roughly know what you're
- 41:55Speaker 2: doing before the boy even Yeah, get so you've got
- 41:58Speaker 2: that first touch, you can what you're doing. If you know,
- 42:00Speaker 2: then thinkings are gone.
- 42:01Speaker 3: I mean, would you actually think you like today's football though,
- 42:05Speaker 3: in terms of the how they got the modern player
- 42:08Speaker 3: compare even your your time yea and I will.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Time just I just think the game is I don't know,
- 42:16Speaker 2: I think football is mega change now. I mean I've
- 42:21Speaker 2: got to bring it. Hymns here, and I didn't. I
- 42:22Speaker 2: didn't like the whit Hims plays how they play. They
- 42:25Speaker 2: play with that back three or five as you want
- 42:28Speaker 2: to call it, so and my eyes are so taken
- 42:31Speaker 2: and taking a winger route rather than a defender. Do
- 42:36Speaker 2: you know what I mean? So that I'd rather have
- 42:37Speaker 2: a winger on and steady a wing back.
- 42:39Speaker 3: I think when you've seen teams like that, it's because
- 42:43Speaker 3: you know you're you're five or your set and a
- 42:46Speaker 3: halfs a no mobile enough or good enough to play
- 42:49Speaker 3: in a four.
- 42:51Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I just didn't.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I didn't like it. I don't like that. I didn't
- 42:54Speaker 2: like a back three or five. It's not for me.
- 42:56Speaker 3: You know.
- 42:57Speaker 2: I prefer a four two or four four one for
- 43:00Speaker 2: free free water, while you want to put for two
- 43:02Speaker 2: three one preferred me attackers. Obviously, it depends the team
- 43:05Speaker 2: you're playing it and what type of as well. Obviously
- 43:09Speaker 2: these are the guys.
- 43:10Speaker 3: That are on the ball the most, as the center
- 43:11Speaker 3: halfs and the goalie.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Yep, what I'm saying, just watched it, I'm saying, each
- 43:17Speaker 2: other and who's who did him just play last set
- 43:20Speaker 2: for Rangers? Well then, and the fans obviously the center half.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I've got the botto non stop. It's just going like
- 43:28Speaker 2: that to the wing back, saying back the back that way.
- 43:32Speaker 2: It's just and they're very rarely having a shot. Fa
- 43:35Speaker 2: senter in the patch. Everything is doing there, whipped in
- 43:38Speaker 2: and to be honest, it's mostly for the left hand
- 43:40Speaker 2: side and whipped in and we've got the boy low.
- 43:45Speaker 2: It's quite a big gladye came on right still. Even
- 43:50Speaker 2: the one we scored for it was it's actually played
- 43:52Speaker 2: a bad body.
- 43:53Speaker 1: And playing behind them exactly I would watching it. I'm saying,
- 43:56Speaker 1: put it on. They guy manages to get it in
- 43:58Speaker 1: the class.
- 43:59Speaker 2: But he looks all right, to be fair, he looks
- 44:01Speaker 2: at Ken's watch doing with the ball for the European game?
- 44:07Speaker 2: Or was it Elder?
- 44:08Speaker 3: No?
- 44:08Speaker 2: I was Elder and the mother well?
- 44:09Speaker 3: Was it?
- 44:09Speaker 2: Was it the mother Well? Was Eldon scored or was
- 44:11Speaker 2: it the shinder cut team?
- 44:16Speaker 3: What do you call him?
- 44:16Speaker 2: The European team?
- 44:17Speaker 3: No?
- 44:17Speaker 2: He scored the first against the Fursday night one and
- 44:20Speaker 2: I think was it? I can't remember the b boy right,
- 44:24Speaker 2: come on anyway, he was the one that turned the
- 44:26Speaker 2: boy inside. It cut across to he looks all right
- 44:29Speaker 2: on the boy kids watch doing I don't know if
- 44:31Speaker 2: he's fit enough on the bench.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Big pictures, well start that it's big now.
- 44:35Speaker 2: I've played on the charity marches were there feels like
- 44:39Speaker 2: you're running through go for a bit weird tiny I
- 44:45Speaker 2: Celtic part as well, taking corners in that yachts and
- 44:48Speaker 2: a full scalp, a full scalping and just a lot
- 44:54Speaker 2: of smaller it was small. I prefer be honest. I
- 44:56Speaker 2: prefer the old, the old standing pitch so tight. I
- 45:00Speaker 2: prefer tink Castle, I tinkcastles. I pink Castle is the
- 45:03Speaker 2: best for your atmosphere. Then dead closeness and that don't
- 45:07Speaker 2: even it's probably dead tight, and I love plenty of
- 45:10Speaker 2: prefer that. I tink Castle is probably the best because
- 45:13Speaker 2: you've got park Heading that it's obviously huge and open,
- 45:17Speaker 2: and Eyebrocks. I think I think Eyebrocks is louder cause
- 45:22Speaker 2: it's mare and closed and obviously park Head is obviously
- 45:27Speaker 2: loud when it comes to the Champions League nights on
- 45:28Speaker 2: the big games, and yeah, I prefer it. See if
- 45:31Speaker 2: you need to have the old firms were basically the
- 45:35Speaker 2: the teams in it, you can't you can't have the
- 45:38Speaker 2: Rangers fans and that, and it just spoils the whole.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Even for players, it spoils it.
- 45:43Speaker 3: You're playing the game an we're no fans, We're no
- 45:46Speaker 3: Celtic fans.
- 45:47Speaker 1: My first, my first game against Rangels. Because the plans
- 45:52Speaker 1: selling fans mckela Chenko equalize later on, we should probably
- 46:00Speaker 1: have win that game. We did all right. It was
- 46:02Speaker 1: it was mad. It was my first experience of that fixture.
- 46:05Speaker 2: And there was because you played, you playing when the
- 46:09Speaker 2: park head was getting the.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Stand and Jackie came as well.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Don't remember that.
- 46:16Speaker 2: That damp stands behind the goals it was empty. I
- 46:18Speaker 2: remember it was building.
- 46:20Speaker 3: There was nothing behind one then and then the second
- 46:22Speaker 3: time it was my first season, I was ten.
- 46:25Speaker 2: It was kind of trying and you come at the
- 46:28Speaker 2: coming to dugout. It was the left one that was nothing.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Yeah nothing, yeah, I remember you scoring, maybe you as well,
- 46:35Speaker 2: maybe you scored the money them Liverpool Liverpool one.
- 46:39Speaker 1: But by the pitch I played a few games in
- 46:42Speaker 1: the pitch feels bigger, but it's it's age, mate, age,
- 46:47Speaker 1: and you think back, how did we actually run this
- 46:49Speaker 1: pitch before?
- 46:49Speaker 2: As it's me but the picture is now our bowling
- 46:52Speaker 2: greens as well for the Boss Bobs, I don't find it,
- 46:56Speaker 2: you go, I go find the week's wages. For the
- 46:59Speaker 2: East Road, it was life obviously on sky or whatever,
- 47:03Speaker 2: but Habs had put green pellets, yeah, kind on the
- 47:06Speaker 2: pitch and it would honestly was like soon as you
- 47:08Speaker 2: stood on the dough was obviously come out in the
- 47:11Speaker 2: press and see his pictures are field outfield. Don't have
- 47:15Speaker 2: to go find for that. I seriously find for it.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Only just sau because fans can't really see what looks
- 47:22Speaker 2: like because it looks like green.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Wasn't it that game last season when Dundion heated beat Celtic?
- 47:29Speaker 3: But if you decide for the camera, I was actually
- 47:32Speaker 3: at the game and then after it you're looking it
- 47:34Speaker 3: was all like lined eye. It was. It was the
- 47:37Speaker 3: Bobbles who eye. It was terrible.
- 47:40Speaker 2: But Grad that's been bad for a bit though, wasn't it.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Mate? You've been a very good guest. We normally do
- 47:50Speaker 1: a recommendation of from a previous guest, but the last
- 47:54Speaker 1: one was Charlie Moigre. We forgot to do it with Charlie.
- 47:57Speaker 1: So a last guest for the recommend ndation was comedian
- 48:01Speaker 1: Corner Buns and it's a film, a song and an album.
- 48:05Speaker 1: The mean you have spoken about music before. I don't
- 48:08Speaker 1: think we've got the same.
- 48:10Speaker 2: In the guitars and no scoter, you're into your guitars,
- 48:16Speaker 2: and I mean that I didn't mind it. I wouldn't
- 48:23Speaker 2: on if that makes it more dance music. I like
- 48:27Speaker 2: my eighties and that eighties eighties.
- 48:32Speaker 1: So anyway, we've got Corner Bunn's recommendations here. So his
- 48:34Speaker 1: films Real Bravo, which I haven't seen.
- 48:39Speaker 3: It's a classic. I'm going to watch.
- 48:41Speaker 1: His album is a Guy. It's a country Western Tyler Childers, Childers,
- 48:47Speaker 1: Childers Childers.
- 48:48Speaker 2: That's his music. That's his album, his album the Country.
- 48:52Speaker 1: No, really, that's too much.
- 48:55Speaker 2: People for that are dressed like cowboys at that point,
- 48:57Speaker 2: money Field thing you like. I like cowboy books.
- 49:04Speaker 3: I like every tight of music.
- 49:05Speaker 1: And his song I think this was his coming on
- 49:09Speaker 1: song today money for Nothing Dire straight that song. That
- 49:15Speaker 1: was his song. So can you give us a recommendation
- 49:17Speaker 1: for our next guest? A film, an album, and a song.
- 49:21Speaker 2: Also, I need to pick a pick a film. Yeah,
- 49:25Speaker 2: favorite film.
- 49:28Speaker 3: One you would recommend you've seen recently?
- 49:31Speaker 2: Watch I've watched Molly and Stay series, and that put
- 49:37Speaker 2: me on the spot.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Film song and an album your.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Favorite song, favorite song of My favorite song is Armin
- 49:46Speaker 2: van Elden. You don't know me. That's my favorite song.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Your pick, but that's quite all dish, that's your song.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Film and an album album.
- 49:58Speaker 2: I don't know what pick album to Stay Serving two.
- 50:02Speaker 2: I know I didn't know, but I don't know.
- 50:04Speaker 3: I will do.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I didn't know finishes with a film. Ille's a good film.
- 50:09Speaker 3: I'll just try to think what your favorite what your
