- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Are you in a job that feels limited, confining, maybe even
- 0:44that you're kind of exploited or not valued that much?
- 0:49If so, you're not alone. Adam here and I was working with
- 0:53a client that had a job, quite a stressful job, a high pressure
- 0:57job, but they didn't really feel valued and they had dreams of
- 1:01escaping. But at the same time they had
- 1:04certain limitations that felt like it was too much or too
- 1:08risky to go off and do their own thing.
- 1:11And this hypnosis session is all about helping to shift the
- 1:15identity to move from an employee perhaps to a freelancer
- 1:20or straight to a business owner. And I made that choice when I
- 1:24was 23 years old. I've only actually had two jobs.
- 1:28One was working for a radio station and the other was a PR
- 1:30agency. And then I thought, you know
- 1:32what? I want to own my own business
- 1:34and the way I framed it is that if I did that at a young age,
- 1:38then even if I failed, I'd get so much knowledge and learning
- 1:41that it would be useful anyway. But if I succeeded, I would have
- 1:45built my own business at a very young age.
- 1:48So the last time I actually worked for anyone else as an
- 1:50employee over 25 years ago. So that has given me a whole
- 1:56life of being able to do cool stuff like this and be a
- 1:59hypnotherapist. So I have two businesses, I
- 2:01still own my PR agency, but I also have this hypnotherapy
- 2:04business and I get to live life on my terms, doing what I want.
- 2:09And in the analogy here for this client, it was when I was 23
- 2:12years old, I jumped out of the fishbowl, initially went into
- 2:16the pond, which became a very small business of being a one
- 2:20man band, and then move to a bigger business where I had
- 2:23employees working for me so I could leverage my time.
- 2:27And that's essentially the essence of this.
- 2:29Every business owner craves freedom over security, even
- 2:34though it carries more risk. That's the nature of an
- 2:37entrepreneur. There are risk takers.
- 2:39So if you like the idea of having the courage or the self
- 2:43belief or even just the willingness to try to explore
- 2:47something beyond just becoming an employee, this is a metaphor
- 2:51rich hypnosis session which could get you thinking in a
- 2:54different way. Lots of metaphors, lots of
- 2:57animal metaphors in particular because that resonated with the
- 3:00client that I was working with. It was created for an
- 3:03individual. Some of the references might not
- 3:05connect with you. So if you do like the idea of a
- 3:09session bespoke and tailor made to you and your circumstances,
- 3:13there will be a link in the description where you can
- 3:15schedule a completely free consultation call, we'll have a
- 3:18chat and we might end U working together, me being a
- 3:21hypnotherapist for you. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:25comfortable place, ideally where you're not going to be
- 3:27disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:50Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:59wonderful feeling of confidence. And as you exhale, just imagine
- 4:09how it would feel to breathe out doubt, breathing in that
- 4:17confidence, exhaling doubt. And as you breathe in that
- 4:23confidence, I want you to think of a time that you felt full of
- 4:31confidence. Maybe you did something to a
- 4:36certain level, you accomplished something.
- 4:40You weren't sure if you could just drift back to that memory,
- 4:48not just of social confidence, but of the confidence that comes
- 4:55from competence. You're good at something.
- 5:02Drift back to that memory and feel how it feels to feel that
- 5:09level of confidence. Continue to breathe in, not just
- 5:17confidence, but deeper levels of relaxation, and continue to
- 5:24exhale any doubts, any fears, any worries, each breath taking
- 5:31you deeper and deeper. Relaxed.
- 5:36That's it. And I want you to get a sense
- 5:41then. What if doubts and a lack of
- 5:48self belief becomes a self fulfilling prophecy that limits
- 5:57your ability to grow? I want you to imagine a goldfish
- 6:05in a bowl. And I want you to get a sense
- 6:10that while the goldfish is in the bowl, it can only grow so
- 6:18big. And I want your doubts, your
- 6:24fears, and any limiting beliefs to feel like that bowl and
- 6:34you're inside. And while those fears and
- 6:38insecurities, doubts and worries, limitations are there,
- 6:44there's only so much growth that you can do.
- 6:50And I want you to imagine that this, this bowl represents you
- 6:57being an employee. I want you to feel a sense of
- 7:06feeling confined, that you're fed only when fish food comes
- 7:14into the bowl. You're there for the amusement
- 7:19of other people. The value is being extracted
- 7:24from you. And I want you to feel limited
- 7:32in this bowl. And you've been looking at the
- 7:36world outside of the bowl, wondering if you'd ever be able
- 7:46to survive and thrive in that unfamiliar environment.
- 7:52What if that's only because you haven't been in that
- 7:57environment? People could wonder if they'd be
- 8:02any good at scuba diving if they've never scuba dived.
- 8:08But when they try it, they learn they can do it.
- 8:12I want you to feel that beyond the fishbowl is all of your
- 8:17capabilities. But you'll never know what they
- 8:21are if you remain in the fishbowl.
- 8:25And I want you to imagine what would happen to that goldfish if
- 8:35it was scooped up in a jug and then put into a pond.
- 8:46There's slightly more risks in the pond, but also a lot more
- 8:52opportunity. For the first time, this
- 8:57goldfish can explore, not limited to the monotony and
- 9:03repetition of the bowl. And I want you to imagine that
- 9:10moving from the fishbowl to the pond is like becoming a
- 9:16freelancer when you've only ever had a job.
- 9:24But I want you to feel that while there is more freedom,
- 9:28while there is more creativity, there's also still limitations.
- 9:37And I want you to get a sense that in the pond, sometimes the
- 9:45owner of the pond changes the water and throws all the things
- 9:50living in the pond away. I want you to feel a sense of
- 9:54being disposable, that it's risky, there is uncertainty, but
- 10:03there's still more space. No one need to imagine that
- 10:07goldfish, if it's spent one or two years in the pond, may
- 10:12already grow two or three times bigger simply because it has
- 10:17more space. People grow proportionate to
- 10:22their environment. The goldfish will never grow
- 10:26bigger than the bowl, but in a pond it can grow much bigger.
- 10:34And I want you to get a sand. Then you have ambitions beyond
- 10:40the pond. I want you to use the power of
- 10:45your imagination to imagine a huge lake.
- 10:55Some lakes in the world are bigger than the entire island of
- 11:04the United Kingdom. That is a Big Lake.
- 11:10I want you to imagine the Great Lakes.
- 11:14Several countries could fit in that single lake.
- 11:22And imagine putting that goldfish there in the lake.
- 11:27Bigger than a country. There is no limit to how big
- 11:34that goldfish could grow. There's more risks there in the
- 11:42Big Lake because there's bigger fish that also exist there.
- 11:50But there's also more food, more opportunity.
- 11:54The goldfish in the lake doesn't wait to be fed.
- 11:57They find their own food. The fish in the lake can find
- 12:04like minded fish and create a school of fish safety in
- 12:11numbers. I want you to imagine what it
- 12:15would be like if you'd only ever lived in the bowl.
- 12:20Moving to the pond would feel like so liberating and free.
- 12:24But what if you were in the pond and never knew that the lake
- 12:30existed? You would never know just how
- 12:35big you can grow. But I want you to imagine that
- 12:41the lake represents ownership, your own business on your own
- 12:48terms. I want you to imagine that
- 12:56there's so much space, so much opportunity.
- 12:58Things can expand. The fish in the bowl is
- 13:04dependent on the owner. The fish in the lake needs to be
- 13:08resourceful, make their own choices and decisions, find
- 13:13their own food. But with great responsibility
- 13:17comes great power. And I want you to imagine
- 13:21feeling that power, the power of how you spend your time, how you
- 13:27allocate resources, what you do differently, feel infinite
- 13:34creative freedom. And any fish in the bowl would
- 13:42have so much respect for a fish choosing to live in the lake.
- 13:52Think of all that credibility, that status, all of that
- 13:56opportunity. I want you to get a feeling, a
- 14:06feeling of the zoo animal's dilemma.
- 14:14I want you to think of your favorite animal.
- 14:18Maybe it's a tiger or a lion, a monkey or something else.
- 14:24And when you can think of that animal, let me know by nodding
- 14:26your head. I don't want you to think that.
- 14:32That animal in the zoo has regular meals, a vet if they
- 14:40ever get sick. That animal has other animals in
- 14:47the same situation. That animal as the illusion of
- 14:53freedom, but only within their cage.
- 15:00I want you to get a sense that being an employee is like being
- 15:06a caged zoo animal. An element of security, a bit of
- 15:13safety, even a bit of comfort, but not quite freedom.
- 15:22And the same animal in the wild is not guaranteed their regular
- 15:26meals. There's no vet on hand if they
- 15:29get sick. But there is choice, autonomy,
- 15:36freedom. People that were meant to be
- 15:42employees their whole life, They want to be like the cage zoo
- 15:49animal. They want things predictable,
- 15:53comfortable, safe. But what if the zoo closes down?
- 16:03Sometimes safety is an illusion. Entrepreneurs, business owners,
- 16:14they would trade that security and safety for the freedom of
- 16:19the wild every day of the week because they are confident that
- 16:24they will find their own food, make their own home, live life
- 16:30on their terms. And I want you to feel, feel
- 16:38that there is a way to escape from the zoo.
- 16:43I want you to get a feeling that you feel the desire to escape
- 16:51the zoo by acting like you're already in the wild.
- 17:01And I want you to imagine now, thinking of your future.
- 17:07What would it be like to stay the next five years as an
- 17:10employee? Exploited, trapped, undervalued.
- 17:18Or maybe five years as a freelancer, stressed and hectic,
- 17:22not knowing when the next project is coming and no safety
- 17:26net if you get sick. Or think of yourself five years
- 17:31as an owner, maybe having staff, long term contracts, quality
- 17:40work and being paid well, high profit margins.
- 17:47I want you to get a sense that you get to choose your future.
- 17:56And if you know which future you desire, perhaps the fish in the
- 18:00lake, the animal no longer in the zoo, being the master of
- 18:08your own destiny. Let me know by nodding your
- 18:11head. And I want you to get a feeling
- 18:16now you don't have to do it all at once.
- 18:22You can do it step by step, action by action, 1 foot in
- 18:29front of the other, one step at a time.
- 18:34And I want you to think of three easy wins that only an owner
- 18:42would do. Your own company name, your own
- 18:49materials, your own services or pricing or packages, something
- 18:59else. And when you can think of those
- 19:033 manageable things in the direction of the owner, then it
- 19:14means you are already the owner. Because that's what owners do.
- 19:21They build, they don't work, they construct.
- 19:28They are building something, not simply doing the work.
- 19:37What you've thought about what those things could be.
- 19:40Imagine planting 3 seeds in the ground, seeing them start to
- 19:43sprout. Because these are more than just
- 19:48token gestures. This is you stepping into your
- 19:53true identity, no longer hoping or waiting to be, but actually
- 20:02being. And when your unconscious is
- 20:06ready to step into that identity, it even changes.
- 20:14Being an employee is because a future owner as an employee
- 20:23starts seeing ways that they can take inspiration for their own
- 20:28business even while being an employee for someone else's.
- 20:33They start looking at processes, documents, systems entirely
- 20:38differently, looking to emulate what works and improve what
- 20:44doesn't. But it starts with the identity,
- 20:50and it's followed by the intention and then followed by
- 20:54the action. And if you're ready to be that
- 20:58identity in advance, knowing that you will acquire the skills
- 21:03when you need them, let me know by nodding your head.
- 21:09I'd like to leave this place. But in leaving, I want you to
- 21:13see a large goldfish in a lake perhaps 10 times bigger than the
- 21:19entire fishbowl they used to be in.
- 21:23I want you to see that animal in the wild, thriving.
- 21:27And I want you to see the future version of you.
- 21:31Grateful for you to decide who you are at your core.
- 21:40It's time to drift back now. So take a deep breath in through
- 21:43your nose and out through your nose.
- 21:48Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate
- 21:52into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 21:58awaken you. Starting to count 123 Waking up
- 22:04456 more alert 7-8 Open your eyes, open your eyes 910 Wide
