- 0:09Speaker 1: from Neptune City to remote Planetoid sixty. This is Space
- 0:14Speaker 1: Patrol The Treasure of Planetoid sixty, Episode thirty nine, heard
- 0:19Speaker 1: on ABC Radio under the sponsorship of Ralston Serials on
- 0:24Speaker 1: June twenty seventh, nineteen fifty three. Ed Kemmer and Lynn
- 0:28Speaker 1: Osborne are featured as Corey and Happy, alongside Ken Mayer,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Bella Kovats and Norman Jolly. In a script by Leu Houston,
- 0:38Speaker 1: a Space Patrol microscope, a derelict spaceship, and two crooks
- 0:42Speaker 1: figure in their search for the vanished explorer's cash and
- 0:46Speaker 1: now the original broadcast.

- 0:58Speaker 2: Football I Adventure in the Wild Beast, Breaches of Space,
- 1:05Speaker 2: Missions of Daring in the name of Interplanetary Justice. Travel
- 1:09Speaker 2: into the future with Buzz Cory, Commander in Chief of
- 1:13Speaker 2: the Space Putfrol. In today's transcribed adventure, Buzz and Happy
- 1:20Speaker 2: are in their space uites examining the wreckage a long
- 1:23Speaker 2: lost spaceship that crushed under strained circumstances from the looks.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Of the wreckage. The ship didn't hit head on. It
- 1:30Speaker 3: came in at a mangle, right over those pinnacles of rock.
- 1:33Speaker 3: How old would you say the ship was, sir? Judging
- 1:35Speaker 3: by the fragments and what's left to the instruments, I'd
- 1:38Speaker 3: say it was at least one hundred years old. One
- 1:40Speaker 3: hundred years old smoking rockets. What a story this old
- 1:43Speaker 3: ship could tell the commander. Somebody or or something shooting
- 1:47Speaker 3: at us. It's a spaceship coming in law this time
- 1:49Speaker 3: they won't miss.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Come on, get out here, everybody fire again?
- 1:52Speaker 3: But no matter, why would they fire on us?
- 1:53Speaker 4: If we don't get into that lager rock, you'll never
- 1:55Speaker 4: find out.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I'll return in just a moment.
- 2:01Speaker 2: But today's Space Patrol Adventure, The Treasure of Panetoid sixteen.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Say, gang, did you.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Ever try a cereal that tasted so good you felt
- 2:13Speaker 2: like bouncing right up to the ceiling like a spring. Well,
- 2:16Speaker 2: if you haven't, try rice checks and wheat checks so
- 2:19Speaker 2: good you just can't seem to get them out of
- 2:21Speaker 2: the package fast enough. And when you see that bowl
- 2:25Speaker 2: full of bite sized biscuits looking up at you, why, man,
- 2:28Speaker 2: oh man, you can hardly wait until you'll pour on
- 2:31Speaker 2: the milk and sprinkle on the sugar and wow when
- 2:35Speaker 2: you dive into checks. Well, sir, that was you bouncing
- 2:40Speaker 2: right up to the ceiling because you like your check
- 2:42Speaker 2: so much, so try them Space Patrollers. Rice Checks delicious nutritious,
- 2:48Speaker 2: bite size shredded rice biscuits hollow inside so they can
- 2:51Speaker 2: fill up with milk. And Wheat Checks, a bite sized
- 2:55Speaker 2: treat made of energy rich whole wheat.
- 2:57Speaker 5: The super cereals that helped the super ch rice checks.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Wheat Checks the only cereals in the universe that bring
- 3:05Speaker 2: you a magic space picture inside of every package. And
- 3:13Speaker 2: now today's Space Patrol Adventure, the Treasure of Planetoid sixty.
- 3:19Speaker 6: Commander Cory and Goodet Happy have.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Just finished inspecting Space Patrol units on the planet Neptune.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Now in the Neptune City headquarters, Buzz is showing Happy
- 3:28Speaker 2: a fragment of bluish rock streaked with bands of violence.
- 3:34Speaker 7: It's an odd looking rock, sir, What is it?
- 3:36Speaker 8: It's called transplute Hide Happy. It's brought to by a
- 3:39Speaker 8: gem expert named Hollister. He wanted it examined by the
- 3:42Speaker 8: Space Patrol scientists.
- 3:43Speaker 7: Transplutite, I don't think I ever heard of it.
- 3:46Speaker 6: Very few people have.
- 3:47Speaker 8: Outside of a few specimens and museums, no transplute hide
- 3:50Speaker 8: has been seen in the one hundred years. Hollister says
- 3:53Speaker 8: that yesterday two men came into a shop with several
- 3:55Speaker 8: chunks of this rock.
- 3:57Speaker 6: He couldn't believe his eyes. And men refuse to say
- 3:59Speaker 6: what they got.
- 4:00Speaker 7: Well, why did Hollister bring it here? Does he think
- 4:02Speaker 7: it was stolen from a museum?
- 4:04Speaker 8: Yes, we're checking by space of bone now with museums
- 4:07Speaker 8: all over the Solar System.
- 4:08Speaker 7: Oh, then this transplutype must be pretty valuable.
- 4:10Speaker 8: Extremely not because of the rock itself, it's the arcturium
- 4:14Speaker 8: in it that makes it valuable.
- 4:15Speaker 7: That's another new one, Commander.
- 4:17Speaker 8: And you've never heard of Captain Hartog, No, sir, but
- 4:20Speaker 8: Captain Hartog was a scientist and space explorer who lived
- 4:23Speaker 8: about a century ago. After a long space trip, he
- 4:26Speaker 8: showed up and the planet Earth with samples of his
- 4:28Speaker 8: blue rock and some strange new gems that he'd ground
- 4:31Speaker 8: into microscopic cutting tools. The amazing thing about these gems
- 4:35Speaker 8: was that they emitted radiation when a small current was
- 4:38Speaker 8: sent through them. They provided their own light for the
- 4:40Speaker 8: most delicate analysis.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Under a microscope. I see instantly.
- 4:44Speaker 8: There was a tremendous demand for the gems, and Captain
- 4:46Speaker 8: Hartog was the only one who could supply them. When
- 4:49Speaker 8: he was asked where he got them, he just laughed
- 4:51Speaker 8: and said from Arcturis arc Touris.
- 4:54Speaker 7: But that's impossible.
- 4:55Speaker 8: Course, ark Touris is a star thirty two light years away.
- 4:58Speaker 8: But the gem was called arcium, just the same the
- 5:01Speaker 8: rock itself was named transplutite, indicating that it came from
- 5:05Speaker 8: beyond Pluto.
- 5:06Speaker 7: Well, didn't Captain hard Talk ever know where he got it?
- 5:09Speaker 8: No, Now he blasted off on a space flight. Nothing
- 5:11Speaker 8: was ever heard from him again. No trace of his
- 5:14Speaker 8: ship has ever found. Naturally, that cut off the supply
- 5:17Speaker 8: of octurium. No substitute has ever been discovered. Well, is
- 5:20Speaker 8: there arcturium in this piece of rock?
- 5:21Speaker 7: Commended?
- 5:21Speaker 6: Yes, Oh, here's a chance to use your new space
- 5:24Speaker 6: Betol microscope. Have think got it with him?
- 5:25Speaker 8: Oh yes, sir, right here in my pocket, all right,
- 5:28Speaker 8: focused it on one of those violet.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Streaks in the rock.
- 5:31Speaker 7: That sure as a terrific little microscope, sir.
- 5:33Speaker 6: I've been making fingerprint tests with it, just for fun.
- 5:35Speaker 6: You'll find it comes in handy in hundreds of ways. Happy.
- 5:38Speaker 8: For a long time, we've needed a small, compact, powerful
- 5:41Speaker 8: microscope that I turned on.
- 5:43Speaker 6: A dozen models till the security lab came up with
- 5:45Speaker 6: this one.
- 5:46Speaker 7: Well it's a beauty, sir.
- 5:47Speaker 9: It's light and still plenty of rugged, and I've got
- 5:50Speaker 9: the microscope focused.
- 5:51Speaker 6: I just watched that violet streak.
- 5:54Speaker 7: It looks like tiny sparks of light are shooting through
- 5:57Speaker 7: the rock.
- 5:58Speaker 6: That's the action of the arcturium. Happy. You could see
- 6:01Speaker 6: it better if the rock were.
- 6:01Speaker 8: Polished, If electric current were applied, the octorium would really glow.
- 6:05Speaker 7: Should I hook it up to a currency?
- 6:07Speaker 4: Now?
- 6:07Speaker 8: That's where do we get over to Hollister's shop. I
- 6:09Speaker 8: want to return this sample to him before Corbo and
- 6:11Speaker 8: Rough get there. Corbo and Rough or they are the
- 6:13Speaker 8: two men who brought in the transplute height. If one
- 6:16Speaker 8: of their samples is missing, they're going to get suspicious.
- 6:19Speaker 8: That is, if the Rough does something crooked. That's good
- 6:21Speaker 8: over there right away.
- 6:25Speaker 1: All right, Hollister, where is it? What's stalin? We left
- 6:29Speaker 1: four rock samples here and we've only got three. Where's
- 6:31Speaker 1: the other one? Come on, Hollister, what are you up to?
- 6:34Speaker 5: What are you doing.
- 6:36Speaker 6: Trying to make them talk?
- 6:37Speaker 10: Leave them alone? Take your hands off them.
- 6:39Speaker 6: As well, I guess, just to hit him a little
- 6:40Speaker 6: too hard. He's unconscious.
- 6:42Speaker 1: That was a stupid thing to do at Corbo. What
- 6:44Speaker 1: businesses he got holding out on one of our samples.
- 6:46Speaker 11: Maybe he wasn't sure what it was and turned it
- 6:48Speaker 11: over to another mineral expert.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Why didn't he say so the pro personal pride?
- 6:51Speaker 11: Maybe anyway, we'd better shut this door to his back
- 6:54Speaker 11: office and get.
- 6:55Speaker 10: Out of here.
- 6:55Speaker 6: You got the other samples?
- 6:56Speaker 10: Yeah here in this case, come on, let's go for me.
- 7:00Speaker 6: You were sure you searched every place here in the
- 7:03Speaker 6: outer office.
- 7:04Speaker 10: Even the safe. It was unlike the blast off for Saturday.
- 7:07Speaker 11: And to have the samples tested there and next time, Rupp,
- 7:11Speaker 11: no strong armsta All right, Corbo, letapp with you.
- 7:15Speaker 6: Oh good afternoon, gentlemen.
- 7:17Speaker 10: All right, where's mister Hollister? Oh h he stepped out
- 7:20Speaker 10: for a few minutes.
- 7:21Speaker 11: Just wait, he'll be right back. We're in sort of
- 7:24Speaker 11: a hurry if you'll excuse this in just a minute,
- 7:26Speaker 11: are you Frank Rupp and Kent Corbo? That's why?
- 7:29Speaker 8: What if we are you fit? The description mister Hollister
- 7:32Speaker 8: gave me. Then this must be one of your samples.
- 7:34Speaker 10: Why this? That's right, it's.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Transplut had all right, with octorium in it.
- 7:38Speaker 10: I'm fine. May I have it?
- 7:41Speaker 8: Please wait till mister Hollister returns. Where did you get
- 7:45Speaker 8: these samples? If we don't actually know where they came from?
- 7:48Speaker 8: You got them from a space prospect here we met
- 7:50Speaker 8: on Jupiter.
- 7:51Speaker 10: We're acting as his agent, so to speak.
- 7:54Speaker 6: You came directly hit a neptune from Jupiter.
- 7:56Speaker 10: That's right, Commander.
- 7:58Speaker 8: Well, if there's prospect a friend of yours discovered the
- 8:00Speaker 8: source of arcturium and wants to keep it a secret,
- 8:02Speaker 8: and that's his affair and yours. Fine, and we'll be
- 8:05Speaker 8: going along, Amanda.
- 8:07Speaker 7: What's that?
- 8:07Speaker 6: It came from the back room?
- 8:08Speaker 10: Check on that?
- 8:09Speaker 6: Happy? Yes, sir, you two stay where you are.
- 8:11Speaker 10: Sorry, Command that, we've got other plans.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Hey, what are you doing?
- 8:14Speaker 10: And this will take care of you?
- 8:15Speaker 7: Get that?
- 8:17Speaker 6: That's rocks makes a nice weapon, Carbo.
- 8:20Speaker 10: Come on, raight, let's get out of here quick.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Happy, I'm happier. You're all right, mander, get away.
- 8:35Speaker 8: Yeah, we've only been on a couple of minutes. I'll
- 8:38Speaker 8: call spaceport and have a guard put on the ship.
- 8:41Speaker 8: Check the back room. Happy, they've probably done something to Hollister. Yes, sir,
- 8:44Speaker 8: you'll take care of him.
- 8:45Speaker 6: Then we'll head for the spaceport. Here's Corbo's ship. Happy.
- 8:56Speaker 10: It looks like we got here ahead of him and they.
- 8:57Speaker 8: May have seen the guards and got scared off. Get
- 9:00Speaker 8: them first to examine the ship. Hop the ladder hat, Yes, sir,
- 9:08Speaker 8: Maybe the hatch open after we get in the air lock, right, Commander,
- 9:14Speaker 8: I wait, half look at this white dust on the
- 9:17Speaker 8: floor of the airlock.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I wonder where they picked that up.
- 9:21Speaker 7: Certainly not at any regular spaceport.
- 9:23Speaker 8: I'll gather up a sample of it later and examine
- 9:25Speaker 8: it under the microscope.
- 9:27Speaker 6: Now, let's go to their spacesuit locker. Open the inner hatch.
- 9:32Speaker 7: Were they sure tracked in a lot of this stuff.
- 9:35Speaker 8: By the marks on the floor, they were wearing space suits.
- 9:37Speaker 8: That's why I want to check the locker.
- 9:39Speaker 7: Spacesuits. That means they've recently been in one of the moons,
- 9:42Speaker 7: and this white stuff is probably powdered pumas.
- 9:45Speaker 8: That alone isn't much of a plume. They have a
- 9:47Speaker 8: lot of moons, partly covered with pomis.
- 9:50Speaker 6: Here's the locker.
- 9:53Speaker 8: Let's examine the boots and these suits.
- 9:57Speaker 7: Hey, they must have been waiting in pumbers halfway after
- 9:59Speaker 7: their knee.
- 10:00Speaker 8: Please get your microscope out happy, I'll scrape off a sample. Yes, sir,
- 10:04Speaker 8: mere magnification may not tell us too much, but it
- 10:06Speaker 8: might tell us if it's worthwhile making a more thorough
- 10:09Speaker 8: test at the Neptune City Lab.
- 10:11Speaker 6: The microscopes already, sir, All right.
- 10:12Speaker 8: I'll smear a little of this powder on the slide,
- 10:15Speaker 8: slip it into the stage clamp.
- 10:18Speaker 6: How they look through the lands.
- 10:19Speaker 9: Mm, it's in focus now for then there's some dark
- 10:24Speaker 9: flakes of something mixed with the powder.
- 10:26Speaker 6: You want to see I think, mm hmm.
- 10:31Speaker 8: It'll take us spectrographic analysis at the lab that tell
- 10:34Speaker 8: us exactly what those flakes are.
- 10:35Speaker 7: Yeah, then we'll have a line on where Rupped and
- 10:37Speaker 7: Corbo have been.
- 10:38Speaker 8: We'll also disconnect our vector computer and take it with
- 10:40Speaker 8: us the vector computer.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Yes, if they.
- 10:42Speaker 8: Didn't clear the settings after they land that it may
- 10:44Speaker 8: show us exactly where they were before landing up to them.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Let's take these spaces, Carbo, look at our ship.
- 10:55Speaker 6: They get guards around it.
- 10:56Speaker 10: Corey must have come to and alerted the space.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Put We better get away from here quickly.
- 10:59Speaker 10: Yeah, we'll get out of the city. How I'm a
- 11:02Speaker 10: surface car.
- 11:03Speaker 11: We'll drive out through the surface lights at the north
- 11:05Speaker 11: side of the atmosphere show the spacephone wrapped to pick
- 11:07Speaker 11: us up in a spaceship the other side.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Of the hills.
- 11:09Speaker 11: We have to have space suits and transfer to the ship,
- 11:12Speaker 11: and they're already in the surface car. Come on, rep
- 11:14Speaker 11: We've got to get out of Neptune City before they
- 11:16Speaker 11: put a guard at the surface lights.
- 11:25Speaker 7: I just checked with the infirmary, Sir. Mister Hollister's okay,
- 11:27Speaker 7: and he's on his way back to his shop.
- 11:29Speaker 8: Good reports have come in from the museums happy no transplute,
- 11:32Speaker 8: eyed exhibits are missing.
- 11:33Speaker 7: Well, I don't get it, sir.
- 11:34Speaker 9: If Rough and Corbo didn't steal the transplute, tyg, why
- 11:37Speaker 9: would they beat up Hollister and attack us, What have
- 11:40Speaker 9: they got to be afraid of?
- 11:41Speaker 6: I think I've got part of the answer. Happening.
- 11:43Speaker 8: Rob and Corbo apparently have stumbled onto something more than
- 11:46Speaker 8: Octurian bearing rock. I think they've found out what happened
- 11:49Speaker 8: to Captain Hartog. Wow, the lab has carefully analyzed those
- 11:53Speaker 8: space suits we took from the ship. If you remember
- 11:55Speaker 8: those dark flakes and the powdered promis, yes, sir, they're
- 11:58Speaker 8: bits of enamel they scraped off of metal when Rough
- 12:01Speaker 8: and Corbol walked over it in their suits. Enamel that
- 12:04Speaker 8: was once used to coat the interior of space ships.
- 12:07Speaker 9: But how does that connect up with Captain Heartog, sir,
- 12:10Speaker 9: because enamel of this type hasn't been used in ninety years.
- 12:13Speaker 8: Of course, Rough and Corbo might have been tramping around
- 12:16Speaker 8: the wreck of another old Gault, but.
- 12:18Speaker 6: They also show up with transplutype. There's only one conclusion.
- 12:22Speaker 7: Then, Hertogs ship was wrecked here inside the Solar System.
- 12:25Speaker 8: And if we only knew where, the vector computer from
- 12:27Speaker 8: Corbo's ship gave us a clue. Corbo didn't come to
- 12:30Speaker 8: Neptune directly from Jupiter. The formula for the vector curve
- 12:33Speaker 8: indicates that they came from the direction of planetoid sixty.
- 12:37Speaker 8: Planetoid sixty, Yes, it's one of the thousands of planetoids
- 12:40Speaker 8: that have never been officially observed at close range. Its
- 12:43Speaker 8: orbit is so freaky that Old sixty has been out
- 12:45Speaker 8: of the regular space lanes for fifty years.
- 12:47Speaker 7: That's where Heartogs ship crashed.
- 12:49Speaker 8: And that's what we're going to find out. Let's get
- 12:51Speaker 8: out of the spaceport. We're blasting off right away.
- 13:01Speaker 11: Cut our velocity happy. Even at this distance, it won't
- 13:03Speaker 11: take us long to completely circle the planetoid. Yes, sure,
- 13:07Speaker 11: it's small, not more than ten miles in diameter. I
- 13:10Speaker 11: think I see something in the fuscope sirt, sort of
- 13:12Speaker 11: a dark area on the white surface.
- 13:14Speaker 8: You're right, increase the sensitivity more pull it.
- 13:20Speaker 9: It's a wreck ship, Commander, what a crash. That must
- 13:23Speaker 9: have been chunks of the huller scattered all over.
- 13:26Speaker 6: You'll put on a space suits and set the ship down.
- 13:28Speaker 12: I want to get a close look at that wreckage.
- 13:40Speaker 10: Give me the control. I'll take her into the landing
- 13:42Speaker 10: for a look.
- 13:43Speaker 6: There's a space ship on the planet to it, right
- 13:44Speaker 6: near the wreck.
- 13:45Speaker 10: That's Corey's ship.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Terrified. How did he know this is where hart Talk crashed.
- 13:49Speaker 10: I don't know, but this is a good chance to
- 13:51Speaker 10: get rid of him.
- 13:52Speaker 11: You mean blast a ship, leave them stranded here now, Look,
- 13:55Speaker 11: they're in space suits poking around the wreckage. You'll blastm
- 13:58Speaker 11: with a space cannon, then land you blast off in
- 14:00Speaker 11: Corey's ship what four. You don't want anyone to find
- 14:03Speaker 11: a trace of Corey ship on that planet. Toid you're
- 14:06Speaker 11: out in space, I'll join air locks with Terra five
- 14:08Speaker 11: and you come aboard.
- 14:10Speaker 10: Then we'll cut Corey ship loose.
- 14:11Speaker 6: I get it.
- 14:12Speaker 1: They'll find Corey's ship maybe, but they'll never know what
- 14:15Speaker 1: happened to Corey.
- 14:16Speaker 11: Right, we'll be able to keep searching planetoids sixty for
- 14:19Speaker 11: the rest of Heartog's treasure.
- 14:20Speaker 10: All right, train your gun sights on Flory.
- 14:27Speaker 3: For the looks of the wreckage would be the ship
- 14:28Speaker 3: didn't hit a head on, It came in and mangled right.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Over those pinnacles of rock. Yes, is it heartg Ship?
- 14:34Speaker 5: Sir? I don't know.
- 14:35Speaker 3: If a boy the fragments and what's left of the instruments,
- 14:37Speaker 3: I'd say it was at least one hundred years old. Hey,
- 14:41Speaker 3: look at this, a blue rock, A chunk of transplutite?
- 14:45Speaker 3: Is there are more chunks scuttered around? There must have
- 14:47Speaker 3: been tons of it in.
- 14:48Speaker 4: The cargo home.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Come on, there's somebody shooting at us. It's the space
- 14:51Speaker 3: ship coming in low corporal.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yes, we'll return to space patrol in just a moment.
- 15:06Speaker 5: Hey, space patrollers, how would you like.
- 15:08Speaker 2: To go along with me into a hidden world, a
- 15:10Speaker 2: world your eyes alone cannot see what am I talking about?
- 15:14Speaker 6: How can you do it?
- 15:15Speaker 10: Well?
- 15:15Speaker 2: I wish I could tell you this very moment, but
- 15:18Speaker 2: until the end of today's Space Patrol program, this great
- 15:21Speaker 2: wonderful trip is a deep dark secret.
- 15:24Speaker 6: This much, however, I can tell you.
- 15:26Speaker 2: To get into this hidden world, you need a magical
- 15:30Speaker 2: scientific instrument, an official piece of Space Patrol equipment. It's
- 15:35Speaker 2: a surprise for you from Commander Corey, a new and
- 15:37Speaker 2: different surprise you'll really go for. So stand by, have
- 15:42Speaker 2: pencil and paper ready, and they all set to hear
- 15:44Speaker 2: this exciting, wonderful news at the end of today's Space
- 15:47Speaker 2: Patrol adventure. And now back to the treasure of Planetoid sixty.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Through some tinny fragments of enamel found clinging to the
- 15:59Speaker 2: boots of a space Commander, Corey with the new Space
- 16:02Speaker 2: Patrol microscope and other laboratory equipment, has partly solved the mystery.
- 16:07Speaker 2: He has discovered that Captain Hartog, a space explorer of
- 16:10Speaker 2: a century before, crashed his ship on Planetoid sixty. While
- 16:14Speaker 2: examining the wreckage, Buzz and Happy were attacked by Ruff
- 16:17Speaker 2: and Corbol who fired blast at them from their space cruiser.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Now the two criminals are hovering above the scene looking
- 16:23Speaker 2: for the trace of Buzz and Happy.
- 16:26Speaker 10: Looks like we got him.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Reped, not a trace of him.
- 16:28Speaker 6: Yeah, the last blast not only finished him, it buried
- 16:31Speaker 6: him on.
- 16:31Speaker 10: The rock ledge cleft right on top of him.
- 16:33Speaker 6: Nice neat chap.
- 16:35Speaker 11: Nothing the tidy up except to get rid of Corey's ship.
- 16:38Speaker 11: Get into a spacesuit and I'll set our ship down.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Okay, after I blast off and terrified, where do I head?
- 16:44Speaker 10: Point it out toward the Pluto orbit. Then I'll join
- 16:46Speaker 10: air locks and bring.
- 16:47Speaker 11: You back aboard before you leave Corey ship. Cut on
- 16:50Speaker 11: the automatic emergency signal on the spaceboat. That'll bring the
- 16:53Speaker 11: space patrol after the ship, and no one will bother
- 16:55Speaker 11: about planetoid sixty.
- 17:05Speaker 4: Happy, can you hear me? Yes, sir, very faintly. Are
- 17:09Speaker 4: you all right? I think so, certainly. Can't move. I'm
- 17:13Speaker 4: buried under a pile of rock and so am on it,
- 17:15Speaker 4: but I think I can.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Work blues there. My head and shoulders are out now. Lucky,
- 17:22Speaker 3: these helmets and suits are built to take a lot
- 17:23Speaker 3: of punishment. I'll be free in a few seconds. Happy,
- 17:27Speaker 3: once you're able to move. These rocks aren't heavy. There
- 17:29Speaker 3: isn't much gravity on this little planet toid there?
- 17:34Speaker 4: Hell, Happy? Where? Oh? I see the top of your helmet.
- 17:37Speaker 3: The shirt came close with that space cannon, and I
- 17:40Speaker 3: was sure that last blast.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Was our finish. Evidently Rough and Corbol thought I was too.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Here are all these rocks away from around your helmet
- 17:48Speaker 3: so I can grab you under the shoulders. There, here
- 17:52Speaker 3: we go, Thanks man, Better turn up the power on
- 17:59Speaker 3: your suit transmitter.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Happy, I can barely hear you, all right? Has that
- 18:03Speaker 4: any better?
- 18:04Speaker 10: Little?
- 18:04Speaker 3: It's all the way up, and you're pretty faint yourself.
- 18:07Speaker 3: That fall of rock must have damage our transmitters. Hey, Commander,
- 18:11Speaker 3: our ship is gone. Rough and Corbo or smarter than
- 18:15Speaker 3: I thought. What do you mean, sir? It won't take
- 18:17Speaker 3: a space patrol long to find the ship. There won't
- 18:19Speaker 3: be anything to make anyone look for us here in
- 18:21Speaker 3: planetoit sixty And with our transmitter's damage, Ge Commander, we're stranded.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Yes, until Rough and Corbo come back. If they do,
- 18:28Speaker 4: they probably will.
- 18:29Speaker 3: If they didn't intend to, there wouldn't have been any
- 18:31Speaker 3: point in taking our ship instead of plasting it here. Well,
- 18:33Speaker 3: suppose they do come back, they'll finish us off if
- 18:36Speaker 3: they see us. We'll take care of that when the
- 18:37Speaker 3: time counts come in. Look, what are the shots that
- 18:41Speaker 3: Corbo and Rough find us hit the wreckage?
- 18:44Speaker 4: Uh s turned it up worse than it was. Oh,
- 18:48Speaker 4: what's this? What's watching?
- 18:50Speaker 3: This transparent plastic case is writing inside the small lump
- 18:54Speaker 3: of metal with a chain on it. It looks like
- 18:56Speaker 3: some sort of a bracelet that's engraved. Captain Jules Hearttog, what's.
- 19:03Speaker 4: The writing of? Answer?
- 19:04Speaker 3: Stated January fifteenth, twenty eight to fifty three, One hundred
- 19:09Speaker 3: years ago, Hartog wrote this, happy listen.
- 19:14Speaker 4: This is written just before what may be my last
- 19:17Speaker 4: voyage in space. When we found we were enable you
- 19:21Speaker 4: to throll our.
- 19:22Speaker 13: Shoe, and the crash was inevitable. We bailed out in
- 19:26Speaker 13: our spacesuits. We drifted here four hours later. Now the
- 19:32Speaker 13: three of us, Mowbray, Clayton and myself are about to
- 19:36Speaker 13: blest off on an emergency space raft. Our hope of
- 19:41Speaker 13: rescue is slight, but it is better to be out
- 19:44Speaker 13: in space, headed for the unknown, than to wait on
- 19:48Speaker 13: this planetoid for the inevitable end.
- 19:52Speaker 6: We leave behind a treasure.
- 19:54Speaker 14: With luck, we shall return to claim it ourselves. You
- 19:59Speaker 14: who read this perhaps are here by chance forgive us.
- 20:03Speaker 14: Then if we selfishly decline to make it easy for
- 20:07Speaker 14: you to obtain what.
- 20:08Speaker 15: We have discovered by years of sacrifice and the risk
- 20:12Speaker 15: of our lives and a sign Captain Jules Hardtog three
- 20:18Speaker 15: men in a tiny space raft.
- 20:20Speaker 4: No wonder they were never found, and all this happened
- 20:23Speaker 4: to hunters ago. But well, I feel like it just happened.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I can understand why they took the space raft rather
- 20:28Speaker 3: than stay here. We're in the same fix and we
- 20:31Speaker 3: haven't got a space raft. At least Captain Hartog left
- 20:33Speaker 3: us for something to do to pass the time.
- 20:35Speaker 4: What's that, sir? Look for the treasure. I wonder how
- 20:38Speaker 4: long it would take us to search this whole planetoid.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Several days, probably, you know, Happy, I've been wondering why
- 20:43Speaker 3: Captain Hartog left.
- 20:44Speaker 10: This lump of metal here with this letter.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Well, what kind of metal is it? Sir? It looks
- 20:49Speaker 4: like platinum. Happy.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Do you have your space patrol microscope where you can
- 20:52Speaker 3: get it? Yes, sir, it's in the belt pouch of
- 20:54Speaker 3: my Spacesuit'll let me have it. I want to take
- 20:56Speaker 3: a look at these scratches.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Yes, here it is. Thanks.
- 21:01Speaker 3: You know, from the shape of this platinum lump, it
- 21:04Speaker 3: just might be a model of this planetoid.
- 21:07Speaker 4: All Now, if I can get.
- 21:09Speaker 3: These scratch marks in the focus there, I was right happy.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Captain Hartog left us a map, a map of planetoid sixty.
- 21:19Speaker 4: What there are letters here?
- 21:21Speaker 3: Let us so small they can't be seen without the microscope.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Planetoid sixty as a cross marked in the face of
- 21:28Speaker 3: this tiny lump.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Under it's the word cave. Give.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Then that must be where the treasure is. If we
- 21:34Speaker 3: can pick out the spot where we are now, we'll
- 21:36Speaker 3: be able to.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Locate the cave.
- 21:38Speaker 3: See over there to our left is a sort of
- 21:39Speaker 3: knife headed ridge of rock. To the right three small
- 21:43Speaker 3: pinnacles and sort of triangle. Now, if there's something like
- 21:46Speaker 3: that on the metal lump, can you find it, sir? Yeah,
- 21:51Speaker 3: now here it is. The cave is about a third
- 21:53Speaker 3: of the way around, near the side of the planetoid.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Let's get going, okay, Corbo, before I left Corey ship,
- 22:07Speaker 1: but turned on the automatic emergency signal on the space phone.
- 22:10Speaker 6: You can cut the terrified loose now.
- 22:12Speaker 3: All right up.
- 22:13Speaker 11: By the time the space toe picks up, the signal
- 22:15Speaker 11: and comes to investigate.
- 22:16Speaker 10: We'll be thousands of deals away.
- 22:18Speaker 6: You're sure it's safe to go back to planetoid sixty
- 22:20Speaker 6: right away?
- 22:21Speaker 1: Sure?
- 22:21Speaker 11: With Corey ship out near the Pluto orbit, planetoid sixty
- 22:24Speaker 11: would be the last place they look for Corey.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Now, let's go back and load up all that transplutide
- 22:29Speaker 1: we can find.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We must be getting close to the cave, sir. We're
- 22:41Speaker 3: on the rim of that saucer shaped depression that shows
- 22:44Speaker 3: in the middle lump. If I've met the map right,
- 22:46Speaker 3: the cave should be right behind that rock. Matter, it's
- 22:49Speaker 3: hard talks cave. Yes, duck back into the bluff. Pleasure
- 22:53Speaker 3: a tom of light in that happy? Yes, say, look
- 22:57Speaker 3: at that. It's full of boxes, packed clear up to
- 22:59Speaker 3: the top of the cave. See if we can make
- 23:01Speaker 3: out the labels trans plutite, transplutite. That most of these
- 23:07Speaker 3: on the left side seems to be transplutite, Sir, m
- 23:10Speaker 3: h millions of credits worth? Wow, cares the light up
- 23:15Speaker 3: there on the wall of the cave. Happy, it's an
- 23:17Speaker 3: astrogation chart. Yes, the Solar system with one orbit marked
- 23:21Speaker 3: in red. It must be a comet orbit, Sir. It
- 23:24Speaker 3: loops clear outside of Pluto and then comes in fairly
- 23:26Speaker 3: close to Sun once every hundred years. Happy, that isn't
- 23:30Speaker 3: a common orbit, it's a planetoid. Look with the chart,
- 23:33Speaker 3: says part top planetoid needs it after himself. I guess
- 23:38Speaker 3: that must be the original source of the transplutite, the
- 23:41Speaker 3: rock that contains arcturium, and the used planetoid sixty sort
- 23:44Speaker 3: of way station in storage place.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Right. We can only get this news.
- 23:47Speaker 3: To the the commander look spaceship Carbo and roping back.
- 23:52Speaker 3: They'll probably stay it back at the rink. And here
- 23:54Speaker 3: we are ten miles away. It's very happy. May we
- 23:56Speaker 3: get back there before they blast off?
- 23:57Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 23:58Speaker 3: On this low gravity planetoid, we can make pretty good time.
- 24:05Speaker 3: We've got a pretty good pile of transplute here, Corbo.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Should we carry it out of the ship Now there's
- 24:09Speaker 3: a lot more scouted around. We might as well get
- 24:12Speaker 3: all we can while we're here.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Okay, there are a few chunks over there for the
- 24:16Speaker 1: rock where we've blasted Kory.
- 24:17Speaker 4: We'll go get them. Uble would those rocks be like
- 24:20Speaker 4: that if Corey and the cadet were under him. They've
- 24:23Speaker 4: been moved. Corey and the cadet got out. Where are they?
- 24:26Speaker 4: I suppose they've been picked up.
- 24:27Speaker 16: Oh maybe, but I doubt it. There hasn't been enough time.
- 24:31Speaker 16: If they were, there'd probably be space patrol ships around
- 24:33Speaker 16: waiting for us to come back. Let's get the ship
- 24:35Speaker 16: flashed off.
- 24:36Speaker 4: They don't get panicky. Let's see if we.
- 24:38Speaker 16: Can locate Corey in the cadet. If they're still here,
- 24:41Speaker 16: we better finish them up. Come on, let's try this.
- 24:44Speaker 10: Director.
- 24:48Speaker 3: They're walking away from the ship now, so they'll keep
- 24:50Speaker 3: down happy, don't let them see them, Yes, sir, they're
- 24:53Speaker 3: looking for us. When they go a few more yards,
- 24:55Speaker 3: we'll run for their ship and keep low. All recommended,
- 24:59Speaker 3: But I'm not ta anymore. I don't think the sup
- 25:01Speaker 3: space phones is growing off frequency, but we don't want
- 25:02Speaker 3: to take any chances.
- 25:09Speaker 8: I hear them in the airlockser then they finished loading
- 25:12Speaker 8: the transplute height and the cargo hold. I stand back
- 25:14Speaker 8: the other side of the hatch, happy, and they get
- 25:17Speaker 8: clear inside the ship before we rush them.
- 25:19Speaker 11: Yes, sir, I will blast off and make a careful
- 25:24Speaker 11: search of the planetoid at low altitude.
- 25:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I won't take long to find them on this
- 25:28Speaker 6: dank yanker rock. You're right, Rob, it won't take long
- 25:31Speaker 6: at all?
- 25:31Speaker 5: Rap over your egg?
- 25:32Speaker 6: Oh no, you don't, Corbo?
- 25:42Speaker 5: Does that? Can? Ben?
- 25:43Speaker 10: Sure?
- 25:43Speaker 5: Do you want some more?
- 25:44Speaker 10: You got? It's corny?
- 25:45Speaker 6: All right?
- 25:45Speaker 7: Rough on your feel?
- 25:47Speaker 6: Sure, Corbo? What did you do with my ship?
- 25:49Speaker 11: It's heading out towards the Pluto orbit the automatic distressingle
- 25:52Speaker 11: on the spacephone.
- 25:53Speaker 6: I'll check on that with the receiver after I lock
- 25:55Speaker 6: you man.
- 25:56Speaker 8: Incidentally, Corbo, I thought you might like to know that
- 25:58Speaker 8: there's more arcturium here than you ever dreamed of.
- 26:01Speaker 6: What do you mean You found a cave full of it?
- 26:03Speaker 9: Yeah, and an astrogation chart of the planetoid where Hearttog
- 26:06Speaker 9: got it.
- 26:07Speaker 6: Originally you would have had a share of at Corbo
- 26:09Speaker 6: if you'd played straight.
- 26:10Speaker 11: Rebini figured Hartog used planetoid sixty is storage base.
- 26:14Speaker 6: But how'd you find the cave?
- 26:15Speaker 1: We've been over this whole planetoid a dozen times with
- 26:18Speaker 1: a fine toothed comb, A fine tooth comb.
- 26:20Speaker 17: Well, that's where you made a mistake. You should have
- 26:22Speaker 17: used the microscope.
- 26:28Speaker 2: An action preview of next week's ex Settings Space Patrol
- 26:30Speaker 2: adventure in just a moment, Yang, here it is the

- 26:51Speaker 8: This is your lucky day because now you can own
- 26:54Speaker 8: an official Space Patrol Microscope kit. I just think of
- 26:57Speaker 8: all the important work the Space Patrol microscope did for
- 27:00Speaker 8: us today. It showed us that there were enamel flakes
- 27:02Speaker 8: mixed in that innocent looking white powder. And it showed
- 27:05Speaker 8: us that Captain Hartog had scratched a secret.
- 27:07Speaker 6: Map on the top of a small lump of metal.
- 27:09Speaker 8: Now you'll be able to examine all kinds of tiny
- 27:12Speaker 8: parnicles and objects with your Space Patrol microscope too.
- 27:15Speaker 6: Way do you get it?
- 27:16Speaker 17: You'll agree the Space Patrol microscope is a mighty important
- 27:19Speaker 17: instrument to have. Think of the fun, Think of all
- 27:22Speaker 17: you can learn an honest, a goodness scientific instrument with

- 27:28Speaker 2: Fifteen times gang. You can see the wing of a
- 27:31Speaker 2: butterfly fifteen times actual size, the feeders of an insect
- 27:35Speaker 2: fifteen times actual size, the texture of paper, the petals
- 27:39Speaker 2: of flowers, human hair grains of sand, all fifteen times
- 27:43Speaker 2: actual size. And imagine, imagine seeing the living creatures in
- 27:47Speaker 2: a drop of water. You can do it with a
- 27:50Speaker 2: Space Patrol microscope. It's made of sturdy, green plastic and

- 28:58Speaker 2: Buzz and Happy are space platform off the Mars orbit,
- 29:01Speaker 2: investigating the theft of supplies from the emergency space station.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Right now, they're walking down a corridor toward the control compartment.
- 29:10Speaker 8: The automatic camera in the control compartment should have a
- 29:12Speaker 8: film of all ships that docked the platform.
- 29:14Speaker 6: Happy Commander, what's that? The media warning system A mediat
- 29:18Speaker 6: is on aclesion course. Can't we cut on the power
- 29:20Speaker 6: and move the platform?
