- 0:09Speaker 1: the store. Grab yourself a couple of things. Tweet at
- 0:12Speaker 1: the boys tweet the bus and the count tweet the
- 0:13Speaker 1: boys in the bag tweet it. Myself tweeted, well, contin
- 0:15Speaker 1: we love to see it. We love seeing the support.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Nate BARGOTSI let's get right to it. What a time
- 0:20Speaker 1: that was twenty twenty one on the bus in the church.
- 0:23Speaker 1: What do you think of this compared to the church?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Uh?
- 0:25Speaker 3: I like this.
- 0:26Speaker 2: You know, I used to work this area. I used
- 0:28Speaker 2: to do I was a delivery guy. Uh and we
- 0:32Speaker 2: used to deliver appliances and stuff like that. And we
- 0:35Speaker 2: I was over I would do it over here, and
- 0:37Speaker 2: I mowed and I and I worked for a guy
- 0:38Speaker 2: to cut grass once and his thing was right back
- 0:42Speaker 2: over here too, So I used to go over here
- 0:43Speaker 2: a lot.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you have Mowen jow you had Mowen jobs. I
- 0:46Speaker 3: had one. It's Mowen's the worst, dude.
- 0:49Speaker 2: It's it's uh, you know, like I would cut grass
- 0:52Speaker 2: going up like your neighbor's yard.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Ors.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I had this old lady, excuse me, I got five
- 0:56Speaker 2: bucks they cut her grass and then, uh, this was
- 1:00Speaker 2: nineteen fifty three.
- 1:01Speaker 4: You got Yeah, that's a whole bunch of salary right there.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Back then, I remember I could go there was a
- 1:08Speaker 2: candy store. This is I mean, I'm forty four. It's
- 1:10Speaker 2: not like I'm one hundred. But there was a candy
- 1:12Speaker 2: store in old Hickory and you could go.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Five bucks was a lot. Five bucks was like.
- 1:16Speaker 2: The twenty I think now like if you give a kid,
- 1:19Speaker 2: if you give a kid five now, I feel like
- 1:21Speaker 2: they don't even respect it. But twenty is, you know,
- 1:26Speaker 2: it's like fun. We were like, eh, but we so.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I mowed grass for a little bit, but I mean
- 1:30Speaker 2: just doing businesses and it's just man people that mow,
- 1:34Speaker 2: you know, like landscape and all that. That is brutal work.
- 1:39Speaker 2: It's so hot and you're just out in it all day.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I quit after one day of landscaping. Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it was brutal. It was like a hot ninety
- 1:47Speaker 4: eight degrees. Like my mom wanted me to go do this.
- 1:50Speaker 4: You know, I was lifeguard this summer before next summer,
- 1:54Speaker 4: I got thrust it into a landscaping job and I
- 1:58Speaker 4: quit immediately.
- 2:00Speaker 3: The first day.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Yeah, we went, we went and got lunch and got
- 2:02Speaker 4: sandwiches or whatever. I text my mom, I said, you
- 2:05Speaker 4: got to get me out of here, dude. The first
- 2:07Speaker 4: I've never mowed along in my entire life. Really, not one.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I grew up in Arizona.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Yeah, only rich people had brass and so got the turf. Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, people got turf or people got rocks. Like that's
- 2:18Speaker 1: really what you get to deal with out there. So
- 2:19Speaker 1: coming out here or even being up in Michigan, the
- 2:22Speaker 1: maintenance is nuts.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And I feel like land like a landscaping deal isn't
- 2:27Speaker 1: as bad because they have like the cool mowers that.
- 2:30Speaker 3: They can kind of move around. You're sitting the whole time.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah, they're all. They got the whole garment and everything on.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm sure as a boy, you were just short.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And so shorts. I was, yeah, I was never I
- 2:39Speaker 3: wasn't that high.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Up, so you'd be weed eating, which is I mean
- 2:43Speaker 2: just no fun, or you're doing all the weird kind
- 2:46Speaker 2: of like where you gotta be like you got to
- 2:47Speaker 2: push it because they can't get a thing on it. Landscaping, though,
- 2:51Speaker 2: was the if you have no college, if you've no
- 2:56Speaker 2: chances of going to college, always starting a landscaping company
- 3:00Speaker 2: was talked about pretty heavily.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Dude, I have like four friends to have a landscaping company.
- 3:04Speaker 3: They you just go in town.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, when you're like I can't I'm not smart enough
- 3:08Speaker 2: to go really, I can't get in college or any stuff.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And you just have a group of people that'd be like,
- 3:14Speaker 2: we'll start a landscaping dude.
- 3:16Speaker 4: But if somebody doesn't high school, they're the man for
- 3:18Speaker 4: a minute because they can afford all the when they
- 3:21Speaker 4: go whatever. Yeah, because you're you're collecting a lot of
- 3:24Speaker 4: money being mowing lawns.
- 3:25Speaker 3: But then they're doing it still because they're you know,
- 3:27Speaker 3: didn't go to college.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I have a buddy mind his brother, he actually owns
- 3:31Speaker 2: a landscaping company.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Now.
- 3:32Speaker 2: He was a he was a kid that just started
- 3:34Speaker 2: cutting yards. Was like smart enough to realize like, oh,
- 3:38Speaker 2: let me start building this up into a thing.
- 3:40Speaker 3: And it is them.
- 3:41Speaker 2: They got money, like they saved money and like you're like,
- 3:44Speaker 2: you know someone's got like three grand and you're like what, yeah, yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 2: like unheard of, unheard of is someone sixteen, Yeah, sitting on.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Three grand and then they pull like you know, a
- 3:55Speaker 4: business gig or a corporate gig, and their mowing those yards.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Like you lived with my parents. Give that money thousand dollars.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Imagine seeing three thousand dollars in high school. It would
- 4:05Speaker 1: have been unimaginable. No, that's that'd be way too much.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Is that the worst job you've ever had?
- 4:09Speaker 3: Being a landscaper? Uh?
- 4:11Speaker 2: I Also, so the guy I used to deliver with
- 4:13Speaker 2: over here, we did another job where we recycle tires.
- 4:16Speaker 2: That job was on dirty jobs and how do you
- 4:20Speaker 2: recycle the tire? So you would go and pick up
- 4:23Speaker 2: Uh you remember, I don't know if you remember, but
- 4:25Speaker 2: there's a big Ford. Uh they did the where they
- 4:29Speaker 2: did a call back or recall on all the tires.
- 4:32Speaker 3: For Ford one. Uh, Chevy would never and.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Then uh, there's and and so we had to go
- 4:38Speaker 2: get all the tires. So you go get all the
- 4:39Speaker 2: tires and then you pick them up and you take
- 4:41Speaker 2: them to Australia. I'm in Australia. I'm going to Australia
- 4:44Speaker 2: this week.
- 4:45Speaker 3: It's on.
- 4:45Speaker 2: You take them to Atlanta and then they have a
- 4:47Speaker 2: thing and then they cut them up and you know
- 4:49Speaker 2: whatever they do recycling, whatever recycling is.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure sure fields have like tire peloton them.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, yeah, so that's where they don't know what
- 4:57Speaker 2: to do with it, so they just put it in
- 4:58Speaker 2: the field. Uh yeah, So what why was so hard?
- 5:06Speaker 2: Uh So you had to go pick up all these tires.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Water sits in the bottom of a tire, and that's
- 5:11Speaker 2: where mosquitoes lay eggs and that's where it are. So
- 5:14Speaker 2: the whole time you're just getting lit up of mosquitoes.
- 5:18Speaker 2: That's just your day. I was doing this job when
- 5:21Speaker 2: nine to eleven happened.
- 5:22Speaker 3: That just like it was. It was remember when I
- 5:24Speaker 3: remember when, Yeah, I remember it very well.
- 5:27Speaker 1: You heard that Alan Jackson song. You're like, I will
- 5:29Speaker 1: forever know where I was.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And uh so I did did the mosquitoes there.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And then we had one time we had to go
- 5:36Speaker 2: pick up tires out of a cave. So if someone
- 5:39Speaker 2: would pay you to come get the tires and then
- 5:41Speaker 2: you would go recycle them and then hopefully make some profit.
- 5:44Speaker 2: But one guy would just get the tires and then
- 5:47Speaker 2: just go dump them in a cave, and he wasn't
- 5:49Speaker 2: getting them recycled, so he's so he's just making straight
- 5:52Speaker 2: profit from taking tires. Well, they found out that guy
- 5:55Speaker 2: would ended up going to jail. And but then we
- 5:57Speaker 2: had to go get those tires and they were all
- 5:58Speaker 2: in a cave. So we had a backup trucks just
- 6:01Speaker 2: in this cave and you gotta like run them up
- 6:03Speaker 2: your chest and like bump them and then they and
- 6:06Speaker 2: then then stack them up into the back of a
- 6:09Speaker 2: like a is it too where you got to pick
- 6:11Speaker 2: up fucking you see a big trick.
- 6:12Speaker 4: You're like, oh, let's go do the shop and get
- 6:14Speaker 4: a couple of tires. And then they're massive tractor tires.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Uh yeah, I don't remember that.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I don't necessarily ours were all car tires because this
- 6:21Speaker 2: was again the recall, so it was like everybody around
- 6:25Speaker 2: here had so many tires because all these tires got recalled,
- 6:28Speaker 2: so they everybody was like it was a big kind
- 6:30Speaker 2: of booming business at that moment. And uh this when
- 6:34Speaker 2: this one guy just figured like I'll just dump them
- 6:36Speaker 2: in a cave Jesus, and we had I mean, there
- 6:38Speaker 2: was so many tires in this cave, dude. We just
- 6:40Speaker 2: drove backed up in there and just there's the most
- 6:44Speaker 2: tires and you're like all right, and you.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Just all right, I would be good at it.
- 6:49Speaker 2: They would you you would run it up your body
- 6:51Speaker 2: and then bounce the tire off your chest.
- 6:53Speaker 3: How would you would it? Started the toes like you
- 6:54Speaker 3: get the toes up a little flick you kind of.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you just kind of run it up and it's
- 6:57Speaker 2: all in one motion and then it's probably a work.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Now you probably pay you to get a trainer or
- 7:02Speaker 2: make you do it. Yeah, but yeah, you just do
- 7:04Speaker 2: it and you roll it back and then you got
- 7:06Speaker 2: to stack the tires like kind of criss crossed.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Oh where you found that physique of yours? Dude, that
- 7:10Speaker 3: muscle memory.
- 7:11Speaker 2: You have, you know, you're probably probably was a pretty strong.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah you're strong, like you're like, uh you know, like
- 7:17Speaker 2: uh blue collar strong where.
- 7:19Speaker 4: You're yeah, country boys strong, weird strength. The metior hands
- 7:23Speaker 4: throwing the hay bales out there, they just got a
- 7:25Speaker 4: grip like a motherfucker.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a tough job.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Another job that'd be tough is like, uh, have you
- 7:29Speaker 4: ever heard like college hunks and junks?
- 7:32Speaker 3: That company? Uh No, was like two man are at
- 7:36Speaker 3: uh truck.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of like that, but like their whole
- 7:40Speaker 1: promo of the whole thing is essentially hot college guys
- 7:43Speaker 1: come and pick up your trash. Yeah, and we use
- 7:45Speaker 1: them and they come in and they're like they're not hot,
- 7:50Speaker 1: Like they're like thirty five, forty years old, Like, yeah,
- 7:52Speaker 1: bad tans.
- 7:53Speaker 3: You hired them? Oh yeah, I call them up. I
- 7:56Speaker 3: want to see what this is all about.
- 7:57Speaker 1: If this is your branding, you were not the guys
- 7:59Speaker 1: on the fly when I called them out to them.
- 8:01Speaker 2: When they get you go, y'all are not hot. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 2: what's the deal with that promise?
- 8:05Speaker 1: The funny thing is they'll just look at all the
- 8:07Speaker 1: trash you have and they'll go three hundred like all right,
- 8:11Speaker 1: and they just take it and they leave.
- 8:12Speaker 4: And that's their job. That's a wild job to have. Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 4: no living, Yeah, for your retired one. What'd you get paid?
- 8:20Speaker 4: I don't even know if I remember. I mean no,
- 8:21Speaker 4: I mean nothing like uh or what you know? Enough
- 8:25Speaker 4: I was twenty, so it's like enough to give buy
- 8:29Speaker 4: like whatever you know you're living and I might used
- 8:31Speaker 4: to have lived at home or you're at an apartment. I
- 8:34Speaker 4: mean back then it was just everything was so it
- 8:36Speaker 4: was you know, you your rent was probably four hundred
- 8:39Speaker 4: a month or some hand in a month, like you
- 8:41Speaker 4: had an apartment.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I don't remember being that crazy.
- 8:44Speaker 1: You know when you were when you were twenty years old,
- 8:46Speaker 1: you were still here. I know you guys talked about
- 8:47Speaker 1: the last podcast, But when did you make the trip
- 8:49Speaker 1: to New York?
- 8:50Speaker 3: When did you decide that's where I'm going.
- 8:51Speaker 2: For So, I moved to Chicago first, and then uh,
- 8:56Speaker 2: because I had a buddy. We were reading water meters
- 8:59Speaker 2: and uh Mount Joiet, and so he wanted to go
- 9:02Speaker 2: to Second City in Chicago.
- 9:03Speaker 3: It's where a lot of SNL people come out of it.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Farley came out of Yeah, and so we went to Uh.
- 9:08Speaker 2: So I was like, oh, I think I want to
- 9:10Speaker 2: start comedy. And so we went to Chicago and uh
- 9:13Speaker 2: uh moved up there and I did that very briefly.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Then I kind of started doing stand up and then Uh.
- 9:19Speaker 2: There's a there's a great documentary with Seinfeld called Comedian.
- 9:23Speaker 3: It's on Netflix.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It's when he's like he's starting a new hour and
- 9:28Speaker 2: so he's writing it and shows all this New York
- 9:31Speaker 2: He's going to all these New York clubs and doing
- 9:32Speaker 2: this stuff. And so then I saw that and when
- 9:35Speaker 2: I saw that. It was like I got to go
- 9:37Speaker 2: to New York and then that just went so I
- 9:39Speaker 2: moved to New York and oh four Yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 4: We just had to Stefano on the podcast and he
- 9:43Speaker 4: was talking about how like New York is the spot.
- 9:46Speaker 3: There's no other place like that.
- 9:47Speaker 1: You have to like literally run through like five thousand
- 9:49Speaker 1: dudes to even make it out of there, because he was.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Saying he would never move away from New York because
- 9:52Speaker 4: it's all, yeah, you can make it out of New York.
- 9:55Speaker 3: He is New York, He's New York. Yeah. And then
- 9:57Speaker 3: I grew up there.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't imagine Tennessee boy, and then going up
- 10:02Speaker 1: to New York it was, Yeah, it was a lot
- 10:03Speaker 1: like Christy's like a lot younger than me. But uh,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I remember when he got a great dude and then
- 10:10Speaker 1: when he came on the scene, you do you have
- 10:13Speaker 1: to go.
- 10:13Speaker 2: It's the best. The big saying was like go to
- 10:16Speaker 2: New York. Uh to get good in LA to get famous.
- 10:19Speaker 2: That's saying I heard once in that but it always
- 10:21Speaker 2: made a ton of sense to me.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Uh.
- 10:24Speaker 2: But New York is like it is where you go
- 10:26Speaker 2: and you're just grinding out in these comedy clubs and
- 10:29Speaker 2: just we're all doing spots. You're all doing shows for
- 10:34Speaker 2: five people. I mean it's a lot like the beginning
- 10:37Speaker 2: is most of your careers in front of five six people,
- 10:41Speaker 2: you'd be happy.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Yeah, because you talked about how you'd stand outside and
- 10:43Speaker 4: handoff flyers just to get a few people in.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, one of your boys is performing, You're like, hey,
- 10:48Speaker 3: come check it out.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's and you and you get paid in
- 10:50Speaker 2: stage time, so you you would just do that and
- 10:53Speaker 2: then at the end of the night you get to
- 10:55Speaker 2: go on stage like midnight and do five minutes, and
- 10:58Speaker 2: then you go do it and the next day.
- 10:59Speaker 3: But it's a world, I mean, you become you.
- 11:01Speaker 2: You just you fall in love with it because you're
- 11:04Speaker 2: seeing like back when I did it was like you're
- 11:06Speaker 2: seeing Bill Bird. Bill Burr's probably doing comedy ten years
- 11:08Speaker 2: when I was h in New York at the beginning,
- 11:12Speaker 2: and so like, but no one knows who he is
- 11:13Speaker 2: and patersa O'Neil and all this, So you're you're you're
- 11:17Speaker 2: like kind of like, I can't believe these dudes exist.
- 11:19Speaker 3: How'd imagine in your world?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Like it's a you think, like you know, if you're
- 11:22Speaker 2: in high school and you're the top football player in
- 11:24Speaker 2: your and then you go, oh, there's other people that
- 11:27Speaker 2: are so good yeah, and then you like and it
- 11:31Speaker 2: makes you love it because you go, oh, this it's
- 11:34Speaker 2: a whole nother level, Like it's let me see if
- 11:36Speaker 2: I can make it here, let me see if I
- 11:37Speaker 2: can make it yeah, because you can be whatever in
- 11:40Speaker 2: your own little small thing, but you gotta always change
- 11:42Speaker 2: it up so then you can be like, let me
- 11:44Speaker 2: see if I can run with these guys.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I'm with you growing up in Bontero.
- 11:48Speaker 4: When I went to college, I was like, oh shit, yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 4: white guys play football.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Yeah you know, let me see I start. Yeah, let
- 11:55Speaker 3: me see if I can run with these guys.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Yeah, how you have to work out for you at
- 11:58Speaker 4: first in uh college?
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yeah you know it's intimidating. Yeah you know how it
- 12:03Speaker 3: is absolutely yes, Like it's it's.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Intimidating, but it's like once you get that first compliment, dude, hey,
- 12:10Speaker 4: this white boy can play.
- 12:11Speaker 1: That's all. Hey, you're pretty this for a white guy.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It's okay. We've we're making it out here. That's where that's.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Why it might be one of the best athletes of
- 12:19Speaker 3: all time. Yeah. Yeah, there's no question about it. You
- 12:21Speaker 3: are you really think you're him at that point.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're in New York and you're sifting through this,
- 12:25Speaker 1: you're seeing guys like Bill Burr, who wasn't Bill Burr
- 12:27Speaker 1: at the time. How do you when you're trying to
- 12:29Speaker 1: find your own voice, not steal from these other guys
- 12:32Speaker 1: or not get influenced too much by being around all
- 12:34Speaker 1: these other people all the time. Because I'm sure you
- 12:36Speaker 1: watch a set and you're like, damn, that's shit, that
- 12:38Speaker 1: is funny, and it's kind of up your alley of
- 12:40Speaker 1: humor because it's such a subjective like career. Like some
- 12:44Speaker 1: guys you just don't think are funny.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Some guys you do.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Like when you see it, dude, they do a bit,
- 12:48Speaker 1: you're like, man, how do you not steal it?
- 12:50Speaker 3: Uh, well, steal your bit?
- 12:51Speaker 2: You wouldn't do because it's uh, their cadence is a
- 12:55Speaker 2: big thing.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, so you can sound like them.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So the way someone tells a joke and makes it
- 13:01Speaker 2: funny is, uh, there's something that that's that's something that
- 13:06Speaker 2: can get taken that. I would always talk with my
- 13:08Speaker 2: buddy Honis about it, or he honest would always bring
- 13:10Speaker 2: up like that's worse than stealing a joke because it's
- 13:13Speaker 2: like you're stealing the way to tell the joke. So
- 13:16Speaker 2: it's like the other stuff doesn't really matter. It's like,
- 13:18Speaker 2: you know, Roan Reagan has a distinct like thing when
- 13:21Speaker 2: you know when, like you know when to laugh, you
- 13:23Speaker 2: know when to do it. David Tel does too, Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 2: and so you'd have to catch yourself sounding like them.
- 13:28Speaker 2: David Tail is a big one that when I was
- 13:31Speaker 2: a lot of people sounded like David Tel. I could
- 13:33Speaker 2: catch myself in a little rhythm of David Tel. My
- 13:36Speaker 2: accent would hide it, so I don't think anybody realized it,
- 13:39Speaker 2: but I could feel it. Like I was like, oh,
- 13:41Speaker 2: I'm like watching him too much, and so you gotta
- 13:45Speaker 2: and you don't want to start writing jokes like that,
- 13:47Speaker 2: because then that's when you can see a comic they
- 13:50Speaker 2: get too far. You're like, oh, you sound like this right, like,
- 13:54Speaker 2: even though you're doing jokes that are different, but you
- 13:56Speaker 2: sound like him.
- 13:58Speaker 3: And that's the part that.
- 13:59Speaker 2: You wanna If you want to be your own voice,
- 14:01Speaker 2: you got to be super aware of that.
- 14:03Speaker 4: If you're sitting through the comments section on one of
- 14:05Speaker 4: your posts on Instagram, is that one of the more
- 14:08Speaker 4: insulting things to see is oh, you sound like so
- 14:10Speaker 4: and so.
- 14:11Speaker 2: If they do uh yeah, I mean I don't know
- 14:13Speaker 2: if I can distinctly remember, I would have some like uh,
- 14:17Speaker 2: you know, people tell you they or they've heard this
- 14:20Speaker 2: joke before they the joke stealing thing they got all started.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I don't it's not as I think, as crazy as
- 14:27Speaker 2: people think it is, Like it wasn't. It's it's just
- 14:31Speaker 2: not you know, they made it into this big thing.
- 14:34Speaker 2: A lot of times when jokes are stolen, you can
- 14:36Speaker 2: really look at the joke and be like, uh, it's
- 14:39Speaker 2: a it's not a super original idea, and you're like,
- 14:43Speaker 2: I don't know, dude. I mean like I could see
- 14:45Speaker 2: two people coming up with this thing and you really
- 14:47Speaker 2: look at it like that. I mean, there's comics. There's
- 14:49Speaker 2: only so much we're all doing the exact same thing.
- 14:52Speaker 2: There's only so much that anybody's doing. If you're in
- 14:54Speaker 2: a world that like you're single and you're going out
- 14:57Speaker 2: and you're drinking, well that's fifty comics that are goal
- 15:00Speaker 2: going out and drinking.
- 15:01Speaker 3: So what are they gonna talk about?
- 15:02Speaker 2: They're go all, you're gonna all talk about the same
- 15:04Speaker 2: kind of things, right, So that stuff gets thrown in
- 15:08Speaker 2: a lot that it's you know, you're like, I don't know.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I think it happens in movies though, something like that
- 15:14Speaker 2: that's over like Star Wars and Harry Potter, like any Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 2: like writers in a movie, like I would say, writ
- 15:20Speaker 2: a TV show writer, like you could. There's stuff like
- 15:23Speaker 2: that that I I mean, I don't know if I could,
- 15:25Speaker 2: you could ever, I don't know if there's an example
- 15:28Speaker 2: to say it, But like that stuff you get nervous
- 15:30Speaker 2: about because I mean, someone writing a movie, like they
- 15:32Speaker 2: could just grab a joke from some comic and just.
- 15:37Speaker 3: The joke in the com.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Talking like if I happen to be some writer and
- 15:40Speaker 4: I'm liking your stand up a story you tell, it's like, oh,
- 15:43Speaker 4: I'm gonna put this in that movie.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah, or it could be influenced by it. It could be.
- 15:47Speaker 2: There's a lot of things and I mean that's and
- 15:49Speaker 2: that's masked so much that I mean, you can't even
- 15:52Speaker 2: how you're gonna, you know, be like that that's my
- 15:55Speaker 2: joke and you're like, well they say it like.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I want to say that that's been talked about.
- 16:01Speaker 2: That really be wall Uh that Wahlberg's uh the Boston
- 16:09Speaker 2: bombing the movie Wahlberg about the Boston Boston bombers. I
- 16:14Speaker 2: think there's a joke about an iron or something at
- 16:17Speaker 2: the beginning of it, and I want to say that
- 16:19Speaker 2: joke might be something that's like from a comic.
- 16:21Speaker 4: And now that I'm thinking about it, I want to
- 16:23Speaker 4: say it was like THEO talking about uh oh, yeah
- 16:26Speaker 4: it was the the show Dave right, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 3: But he was digesting it. I mean you could tell
- 16:33Speaker 3: he was alluding to it. He wasn't.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I don't think he was being like, all this is fact,
- 16:37Speaker 4: because ultimately I guess.
- 16:38Speaker 3: You you don't, right, yeah, right, But yeah, that's a
- 16:42Speaker 3: good point.
- 16:43Speaker 2: You hear something he says that of yeah, and you're like,
- 16:46Speaker 2: I mean they're gonna you got the and how did
- 16:49Speaker 2: not say all these writers are writers are not doing
- 16:52Speaker 2: the majority of we're not doing it. But it's like, yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 2: I been you know, yeah, it's like they're gonna be
- 16:58Speaker 2: You're gonna be influenced by you wanna hear things here.
- 17:01Speaker 2: There's so much content now, so you're hearing stuff all
- 17:03Speaker 2: the time. You you might not realize like where you
- 17:05Speaker 2: would have possibly heard that.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but the still of the joke thing seems like
- 17:10Speaker 1: other comment like, I mean, there was there was one
- 17:14Speaker 1: reference like I was a big dang Cook guy growing up.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I was like right around my middle school time and
- 17:19Speaker 1: Dan Cook we.
- 17:20Speaker 3: All loved it. We all loved him.
- 17:22Speaker 1: There was a big time where people were like, Dan
- 17:24Speaker 1: Cook stole a joke, the same joke as Lewis c
- 17:27Speaker 1: K told.
- 17:28Speaker 3: About having a kid.
- 17:29Speaker 1: He doesn't have a kid right now, but when he
- 17:30Speaker 1: has a kid, he's gonna name something ridiculous, like just
- 17:33Speaker 1: the one letter five of them and then he like allegedly,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I haven't really looked too much into it, so I'm
- 17:38Speaker 1: kind of just speaking out of pocket here, But Dane
- 17:40Speaker 1: just changed the letter essentially and did his like his
- 17:43Speaker 1: cadence and all that, because they're totally different comments.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there's another like his itchy butthole or
- 17:49Speaker 2: something was another joke like that, and it was, uh yeah,
- 17:54Speaker 2: I mean I remember all that stuff going on, Amy Schumer.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I was around Amy a lot, and people would blame
- 17:59Speaker 2: but it's like, I just it's some of it you're
- 18:03Speaker 2: I mean, the Dane and the Louis thing. I look,
- 18:05Speaker 2: I don't know, I mean maybe they did, it's uh,
- 18:09Speaker 2: and they maybe subconsciously did it. I don't know if
- 18:12Speaker 2: I just find it hard to believe people are like
- 18:13Speaker 2: on purpose doing this stuff. Yeah, not saying that's right
- 18:17Speaker 2: to subconsciously do it, like you should somewhat try to check,
- 18:20Speaker 2: but it's overall you're like, I don't know, dude, Like
- 18:23Speaker 2: they're not comics, are not just taking each other said
- 18:26Speaker 2: where you gonna go do this?
- 18:27Speaker 3: You know? Yeah, where you're gonna get caught. You're gonna
- 18:30Speaker 3: get especially.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Now with And then the thing that was frustrating is
- 18:33Speaker 2: it makes it then everybody like, so if you have
- 18:36Speaker 2: a joke similar to someone else, someone's like, do you
- 18:38Speaker 2: steal that joke from that person? You're like, no, dude,
- 18:40Speaker 2: we're all talking about the same thing. Like, no one's
- 18:42Speaker 2: stealing a joke. They're just people are talking about stuff.
- 18:46Speaker 2: It usually goes to you gotta look at what the
- 18:49Speaker 2: joke is to be like, is it that original of
- 18:51Speaker 2: an ideah?
- 18:53Speaker 3: And a lot of times it's not.
- 18:54Speaker 2: And then it's like something that's kind of like there's
- 18:56Speaker 2: jokes out there where you're like, I think I've heard
- 18:58Speaker 2: my uncle say that joke. You know that person's not
- 19:01Speaker 2: stealing that joke. It's like just telling kind of a
- 19:04Speaker 2: hacky joke. Japi, are you catching all that rain in
- 19:07Speaker 2: the headphones?
- 19:09Speaker 3: I keep seeing Garrett look back and forth and stuff
- 19:11Speaker 3: like that.
- 19:12Speaker 4: You just you hear the rain get even harder, and
- 19:15Speaker 4: you're just like, fuck the one hour we're getting Nate on. Yeah, perfect,
- 19:22Speaker 4: as he's telling a story.
- 19:23Speaker 3: You just hear it get louder and louder.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, when uh, just make sure the tornado doesn't Yeah,
- 19:30Speaker 1: we don't need that.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yeah, we definitely do not need that in our lives.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Do you catch that? It's absolutely going off. There's like
- 19:36Speaker 3: flood warnings the median. Do you ever get just tired
- 19:39Speaker 3: of being funny?
- 19:41Speaker 4: Like when you're doing you're like, you know, you kind
- 19:43Speaker 4: of fall in love with it in New York and
- 19:44Speaker 4: you're grinding through it and even now it's just like
- 19:47Speaker 4: you're just you've blown up. Like as a comedian, I've
- 19:49Speaker 4: always I don't know why I never asked him, but
- 19:51Speaker 4: I'm just thinking, do you guys just ever get tired
- 19:53Speaker 4: of just being like everybody every room I step into,
- 19:56Speaker 4: I'm expected to be funny.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you have to be on that's the
- 20:01Speaker 2: part of that's hard, but I think you all would
- 20:02Speaker 2: experience that. You know, how many times you got to
- 20:04Speaker 2: feel like you're on? So when you go out to
- 20:06Speaker 2: a public event, when you go to something or like
- 20:09Speaker 2: that kind of thing, or you meet people and like
- 20:11Speaker 2: it's it's the being on is the thing that gets exhausting.
- 20:15Speaker 3: That's for anybody.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I mean, people could feel that if they go to
- 20:18Speaker 2: work and they feel like they have to kind of
- 20:20Speaker 2: be like, all right, I got to turn it on
- 20:21Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I gotta be better. You know, we're gonna die about
- 20:26Speaker 3: this fucking funny.
- 20:27Speaker 2: That like out of this stuff we're in like a garage.
- 20:31Speaker 2: All stuff that I don't think you're supposed to be
- 20:32Speaker 2: in inside of a storm is we're in a garage
- 20:36Speaker 2: and you're like, all right, well that you should be
- 20:38Speaker 2: in there, but at least you're not in a bus
- 20:40Speaker 2: inside of it. You're like, oh, we're in a bus,
- 20:43Speaker 2: one of the old buses that look like it's driving
- 20:46Speaker 2: around trying to be struck by lighting.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Uh yeah, yeah, we're in danger right now. We are
- 20:51Speaker 3: in danger.
- 20:52Speaker 4: The being on thing, the being on things true because
- 20:54Speaker 4: anytime you come across like fans and everything else, you
- 20:56Speaker 4: want them to be like, you know, you don't want
- 20:58Speaker 4: to like let people down or all of a sudden
- 21:00Speaker 4: you're like an ass on that You're like, you know
- 21:01Speaker 4: that you're fucking not even.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah, because it only takes one bad impression for them
- 21:04Speaker 1: to be off you forever.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, you know, you meet somebody and it's you.
- 21:08Speaker 3: It's either you or not you.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So like usually when you meet if someone meets someone
- 21:12Speaker 2: famous and they're kind of stand office whatever, you're like, yeah, man,
- 21:14Speaker 2: that person's probably like that in real life. Yeah, And
- 21:17Speaker 2: otherwise it's yeah, it's like the crowd and the audience
- 21:21Speaker 2: should not feel my tiredness or my whatever.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Like that's not on them to do any of that stuff. Ye.
- 21:29Speaker 2: So there's like little moments like that, But I mean
- 21:31Speaker 2: I don't think I ever feel with an audience. You
- 21:33Speaker 2: feel it with like, you know, the business side of
- 21:36Speaker 2: sometimes just because you're like the audience you're like grateful
- 21:39Speaker 2: for because that's the reason you're here. Sometimes you gotta
- 21:43Speaker 2: go do the business.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Side of things, and then you're like yeah, but business
- 21:47Speaker 1: side you can like kind of turn it on and off.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I feel like the the being on thing is like
- 21:52Speaker 1: when you're just walking somewhere and someone's like, hey, I
- 21:56Speaker 1: like you for this, and then you feel like, okay,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I have to make sure this person has a good expltperience.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:00Speaker 1: That way, it's like the move It Forward or what's
- 22:03Speaker 1: that movie? Hey, everything paying Forward? And then just like
- 22:06Speaker 1: one person tells two people, it's like, we got to
- 22:08Speaker 1: make sure yeah, yeah, this person's happy with their experience
- 22:11Speaker 1: and move on. If that happens too many times, that's
- 22:13Speaker 1: when it kind of gets a little draining.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Be nice and the mid of that's what's so that's
- 22:16Speaker 2: the easiest part about it. It's really a lot easier
- 22:18Speaker 2: just to be nice and move on. And it's like,
- 22:20Speaker 2: it is funny if you someone that doesn't want to
- 22:22Speaker 2: be like that, you're like, well you make it much
- 22:23Speaker 2: harder bout being kind of mean.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Yeah, you could just be nice and it would move
- 22:28Speaker 3: very quickly. No doubt.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Has there ever been a person that you've like kind
- 22:31Speaker 1: of looked up to and then you meet him and
- 22:33Speaker 1: you're like, fuck, don't meet your hero type thing. You
- 22:36Speaker 1: brought up one person that universally seems like people are.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Not a huge fan of that's Jerry Seinfeld. Yeah. I
- 22:44Speaker 3: so I've only been I've talked to him once.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I'm a giant Seine Fold fan, so I I still
- 22:54Speaker 2: want to go to so I don't have. There was
- 22:55Speaker 2: a lot of people that have said that they didn't
- 22:57Speaker 2: he can be kind of staying office er.
- 22:59Speaker 3: He can be and they would be that with comics
- 23:00Speaker 3: and stuff like that.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I mean, I don't look at that too much somebody
- 23:03Speaker 2: because the year he's sixty something years old, like doing
- 23:06Speaker 2: comedy for forty years or more.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Uh So some.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Of that I look at, like, yeah, does he want
- 23:12Speaker 2: to talk to Like I mean, I'm an open micer
- 23:15Speaker 2: to him, Like you know, he's done comedy so much
- 23:17Speaker 2: longer than me.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Like not that I'm an open by, but you know
- 23:19Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Like it's like you're so if you were having talking
- 23:22Speaker 2: to some seventh grader about being aligneman or something like
- 23:27Speaker 2: playing football, you'd be like, what do we go to
- 23:29Speaker 2: talk about?
- 23:30Speaker 3: Dude? Like I don't, I can't, you're too new.
- 23:32Speaker 2: So sometimes like I think of it like that, like
- 23:35Speaker 2: people were like, ah, he wasn't not like comics specifically,
- 23:39Speaker 2: could think like I I didn't like the way he left,
- 23:41Speaker 2: and you're like, what do you want him to do?
- 23:42Speaker 3: Like just I don't know like that. So I've had
- 23:46Speaker 3: no Luis c K.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I thought I had a little bit with when I
- 23:51Speaker 2: first started.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Now it's not.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I mean, obviously he's come back down to reality a
- 23:56Speaker 2: little bit. Uh, it happens, a little bit happens a
- 24:00Speaker 2: little bit.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Have you heard Pete Davidson's a bit about that he
- 24:03Speaker 1: talks about I guess, Uh, Louisy K was hosting SNL
- 24:07Speaker 1: and then Pete Davidson got high and he was walking
- 24:09Speaker 1: through to go to the elevators, and like luisy K
- 24:11Speaker 1: caught up with him and he was like, hey, stop
- 24:13Speaker 1: getting high. You're ruining your fucking life. Blah blah blah blah,
- 24:15Speaker 1: like kind of dug into him. Yeah, and Pete so high'
- 24:17Speaker 1: is like that didn't happen. There's no way that actually
- 24:19Speaker 1: just happened. And the next day, whoever, who's the guy,
- 24:23Speaker 1: is it Lauren that Lauren's like no, yeah, he calls
- 24:27Speaker 1: Pete into the office and essentially it's like people have
- 24:30Speaker 1: done coke here before, Like just I guess, don't let
- 24:33Speaker 1: Louisy K smoke. And then his whole bit is going
- 24:35Speaker 1: into so you'd be so happy when I found out
- 24:37Speaker 1: on one great day that he was jerking off in
- 24:39Speaker 1: front of ladies and stuff like that, and it's a
- 24:41Speaker 1: it's a pretty funny deal.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like he uh, Louie's been I have like now,
- 24:48Speaker 2: it's not been back when I was when I I
- 24:50Speaker 2: remember I opened for him once a long time ago,
- 24:52Speaker 2: and uh, he was just kinda like, I don't know,
- 24:56Speaker 2: he was just I mean like at one point Louis
- 24:58Speaker 2: was on top of the world, like, so, you know,
- 25:01Speaker 2: we're in New York, like, I mean, he is the
- 25:03Speaker 2: biggest comic on the planet, and and it would come
- 25:07Speaker 2: off sometimes you can meet him and he'd be kind
- 25:09Speaker 2: of like jerkier, like you know, just not nice, not
- 25:13Speaker 2: being nice, and you're like, you know, and you're a
- 25:14Speaker 2: young comic and you're just thinking, like I'm just said,
- 25:17Speaker 2: I'm nobody, dude, Like just I'm not in you know,
- 25:19Speaker 2: I'm not trying to have You're trying to get out
- 25:20Speaker 2: of his way. You're trying to do all these things,
- 25:23Speaker 2: and he would just you know, everybody would just say,
- 25:26Speaker 2: like you I brought him up on stage and you'd
- 25:28Speaker 2: be like, all right, everybody York started to see your
- 25:31Speaker 2: headliner tonight, please welcome Louis C. K like, and then
- 25:36Speaker 2: I brought him on stage and he's like, don't introduce
- 25:38Speaker 2: me like that and look in a weird way, there's
- 25:41Speaker 2: a valid point and to be like they are there
- 25:43Speaker 2: to see him. I don't really need to say anything
- 25:45Speaker 2: but please welcome Louis c K. But the other side
- 25:49Speaker 2: of it, I've been doing comedy six years at this point,
- 25:52Speaker 2: I don't know what to do. I'm nervous, like like
- 25:55Speaker 2: it was part of you, like, why don't you think
- 25:56Speaker 2: about the situation that we have. I'm getting I can't
- 25:59Speaker 2: believe I'm here. I can't believe I'm getting to go
- 26:01Speaker 2: up in front of you. Uh, this is it's a
- 26:04Speaker 2: sold out room. I've never been in front of a
- 26:06Speaker 2: sold out room.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Uh.
- 26:07Speaker 2: There's a lot of things playing into it. So you're
- 26:10Speaker 2: like there was like that kind of stuff with Louis
- 26:12Speaker 2: where he would just like say to you.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Like, what do you want me to do? Dude? How
- 26:15Speaker 3: do you how'd you introduce him? You just where you're like,
- 26:17Speaker 3: all right, y'a excited, you know I'm from.
- 26:19Speaker 2: You're like giving his credits and all this stuff, and
- 26:21Speaker 2: it's just like, you don't sell my credits. You don't
- 26:24Speaker 2: they know who they're here to see which is true,
- 26:27Speaker 2: and that makes you don't need to say it like yeah,
- 26:29Speaker 2: but it would just be like he come tell you that,
- 26:31Speaker 2: but in like kind of an aggressive way, and you're like, Louis,
- 26:34Speaker 2: I don't know what to do, dude, I know, I'm
- 26:36Speaker 2: so nervous about this whole experience. I just don't want
- 26:41Speaker 2: you to be mad. Yeah yeah, like I and you're
- 26:45Speaker 2: mad clearly, and then now I don't know nothing.
- 26:48Speaker 3: He's that mad.
- 26:49Speaker 2: But it's just being like, just be regular, man, Just
- 26:52Speaker 2: be normal. You don't even say I don't even know
- 26:54Speaker 2: the green room, like I'm trying my best. I'm trying
- 26:57Speaker 2: to like, hey, I'm just doing whatever I can do.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I did a joke and then he went up and
- 27:02Speaker 2: made fun of my joke, and that made me so mad.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I was so mad about this. I was so mad
- 27:06Speaker 2: about this for a long time because it was just
- 27:08Speaker 2: like it was like, dude, we're nobody's man. I'm I'm
- 27:11Speaker 2: I got paid seventy five dollars that night, like I
- 27:14Speaker 2: think for hosting, so pray seventy five bucks. That's it,
- 27:18Speaker 2: and I'm fine, and I it's I would do that,
- 27:20Speaker 2: would do that game for free.
- 27:21Speaker 3: But you're like, what do you I'm again, I'm not,
- 27:24Speaker 3: I'm just so.
- 27:25Speaker 2: When you got off the stage, he came up and
- 27:27Speaker 2: made funny make fun of the yah. I was pretty
- 27:30Speaker 2: upset about that.
- 27:30Speaker 3: You remember the joke. Yeah, it was a joke.
- 27:32Speaker 2: The joke I had about, uh uh, if if I
- 27:39Speaker 2: don't have a gun in my house, I have like
- 27:40Speaker 2: a knife or something in my next to my bed.
- 27:43Speaker 2: So if my if I but I have my wife
- 27:46Speaker 2: sleep next to the door so if someone broke in,
- 27:48Speaker 2: I can shove her at it or and then it
- 27:50Speaker 2: was something like that joke I'm not great at memory,
- 27:53Speaker 2: and then other ones that would I take a bullet
- 27:54Speaker 2: for my wife? That was it, and I was like
- 27:57Speaker 2: and I said yes, because how could I ever take
- 27:59Speaker 2: a bull? That's pretty fast, you know for a gun
- 28:02Speaker 2: to be You can't like hear a gun go off
- 28:04Speaker 2: and jump in front of it. It would hit her
- 28:06Speaker 2: so quick. So you're like, I just would say, yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 2: I will take a bullet. I'll take a bull for
- 28:09Speaker 2: anybody because I'm never gonna be able to get in
- 28:11Speaker 2: front of that bullet.
- 28:13Speaker 3: And that was like kind of the joke.
- 28:15Speaker 2: And then he was like, well, you stand in front
- 28:18Speaker 2: of him when the person holds a gun.
- 28:19Speaker 3: You didn't get in front of her.
- 28:20Speaker 2: He like just like he described it the way like
- 28:23Speaker 2: my wife would describe it and make it like not fun,
- 28:25Speaker 2: like why you have Like your parent would just be like, well,
- 28:27Speaker 2: I don't know if it's going to work like that.
- 28:29Speaker 4: You're like, yeah, it's a joke. We're just trying to
- 28:30Speaker 4: have fun. She just knows the whole crowd's gonna laugh
- 28:32Speaker 4: because it's.
- 28:33Speaker 2: They laugh like then making fun of me, and then
- 28:36Speaker 2: you're like and then you're just like sitting there like
- 28:38Speaker 2: you know, I'm twenty seven years old, Like.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Why would you? What do I have to do with anything?
- 28:44Speaker 4: Right?
- 28:45Speaker 2: Like, please leave me out of this. Yeah, you're I'm
- 28:47Speaker 2: just doing a spot, dude, I'm hosting. Hannibal is supposed
- 28:49Speaker 2: to be on that show too, Burst and he didn't
- 28:51Speaker 2: even show up to the first show and uh he
- 28:54Speaker 2: was hosting and then like that was mad at that.
- 28:56Speaker 2: I'll tell you that was mad at the whole night,
- 29:00Speaker 2: snowballs me.
- 29:02Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm here, Yeah, we Hannimal didn't show up
- 29:06Speaker 3: like I did.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Like a little more time, yeah, because handle want to
- 29:09Speaker 2: show up and you're still making fun of me. This
- 29:11Speaker 2: was Hannibal is like starting to because I started with
- 29:13Speaker 2: Hannibal and Hanbal was like you started writing for U
- 29:16Speaker 2: and l At this point he was on thirty Rock
- 29:17Speaker 2: I think, or writing for thirty Rock. Man hands great
- 29:19Speaker 2: and so he was like starting to like really kind
- 29:21Speaker 2: of blow up and we were and I was just,
- 29:24Speaker 2: you know, still at the bottom. So I didn't care
- 29:27Speaker 2: for the whole thing. But now it's been fine. I've
- 29:29Speaker 2: never told Loui that. But while I would hopefully watches
- 29:32Speaker 2: the show show up, You're like texta, Hannibal, did you
- 29:36Speaker 2: know this is gonna happen?
- 29:37Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Well you guys had it out for me. Huh yeah, Hannibal. Well,
- 29:40Speaker 2: Hannibal was late because of thirty Rock. But I remember
- 29:43Speaker 2: I just remember thinking, why, like I'm the one here, yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 2: and I'm just getting trashed.
- 29:50Speaker 3: If I wasn't here, there be no one else but
- 29:52Speaker 3: you on the show.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you're just saying it to Hannibal. He
- 29:54Speaker 2: was excited. Hannimals on the show. Hannibal was like again
- 29:57Speaker 2: starting to kind of rise and do good. So it
- 30:00Speaker 2: was like it was cool to have Hannibal.
- 30:03Speaker 4: Or you thinking your head at the time, I'm never
- 30:04Speaker 4: doing this again. No, I mean I you would use that.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I mean honestly, I would use it for like I
- 30:10Speaker 2: hate this dude, and like I will make sure he
- 30:13Speaker 2: knows me right, like you honestly not to act like
- 30:18Speaker 2: a brag or anything, but in your head at the moment,
- 30:21Speaker 2: I would always just flip it to like, all right,
- 30:23Speaker 2: I will be positive that you know. And he would
- 30:28Speaker 2: never Louis would never remember any of this, as he
- 30:31Speaker 2: probably shouldn't. He shouldn't remember it. I was really there's
- 30:34Speaker 2: no reason he would know me at the time, you
- 30:35Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like, I don't expect, but these
- 30:37Speaker 2: are moments that I would use. I would be I
- 30:39Speaker 2: was so mad about the situation. And then you're like,
- 30:42Speaker 2: all right, all right, well then this is where I'm
- 30:45Speaker 2: at in comedy. So I need to be get to
- 30:48Speaker 2: a level that like I'm not gonna get treated like this,
- 30:51Speaker 2: And so you just use that drive to like chip
- 30:54Speaker 2: on your shoulder.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Yeah, telling yourself whatever you can whatever.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Yeah, make sure that hey, people will know some day.
- 31:00Speaker 3: But I'm laugh now.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Yeah, some other person could probably look at that situation
- 31:03Speaker 2: and be like, dude, he like said he liked you,
- 31:05Speaker 2: and Mabe he was making a funny joke at the
- 31:07Speaker 2: beginning about you. It was all very sweet. In my head.
- 31:10Speaker 2: It's like, I mean, it's armageddon. I'm like, right, But
- 31:13Speaker 2: someone else could be like, no, well he was being nice.
- 31:16Speaker 2: What are you talking about? Like I could have read
- 31:17Speaker 2: the whole situation wrong. Yeah, but I did, and I
- 31:21Speaker 2: read it the way I read it, and then you
- 31:23Speaker 2: just like kind of go all right, we'll grint it.
- 31:25Speaker 1: You know, man, I wonder what you were feeling during
- 31:27Speaker 1: his like whole what if he did an hour or whatever,
- 31:29Speaker 1: just kind of sitting there and slowly like that seed
- 31:31Speaker 1: of anger started. Oh by the end of that hour,
- 31:33Speaker 1: it had to be a full plant, Like you had
- 31:35Speaker 1: to be fucking ready.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Oh.
- 31:36Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I mean I think I did
- 31:38Speaker 2: one more show. We're doing a show for his school,
- 31:41Speaker 2: for his daughter's school, like a fundraiser. Uh so, uh
- 31:45Speaker 2: because he was at We're at Carolines, and he wouldn't
- 31:48Speaker 2: be because I mean he's at this point, he's doing
- 31:49Speaker 2: massive square garden, so he's just doing this for a
- 31:52Speaker 2: fundraiser and uh so, yeah, I mean it all built in.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I mean I sit there and watch him though too
- 31:57Speaker 2: like him obviously he's he's unreal. Like it was like,
- 32:00Speaker 2: you know, you're sitting there watching me and that's you know,
- 32:02Speaker 2: that's part of you that it hurts. It's like because
- 32:04Speaker 2: it's like the dude you're like sitting there going like
- 32:07Speaker 2: that's the main guy.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Like Burr, I always had much.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Burr was very nice to me and would say things
- 32:14Speaker 2: and like be very so you just would have like
- 32:17Speaker 2: little parts of you know where who you got treated
- 32:21Speaker 2: by this person. And I'm not trying to reflect on
- 32:24Speaker 2: what they are now or anything, but it was like
- 32:27Speaker 2: these were little things that you'd be like, they really
- 32:31Speaker 2: stick with you.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Yeah, who's somebody now might be Bill Burr, but who
- 32:35Speaker 4: are who are? Who is a comic or a couple
- 32:37Speaker 4: of comics that have been like the most encouraging that
- 32:39Speaker 4: you actually think about back then when you're younger and
- 32:41Speaker 4: building these chips on your shoulders and people have kind
- 32:43Speaker 4: of pulled you aside or given you any kind of
- 32:45Speaker 4: advice or something where it's like, man, this really stuck
- 32:47Speaker 4: with me. This this comic might have no idea, Bill Burr,
- 32:51Speaker 4: this stuck with me throughout my entire career.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Burr was. Burr was a big one because Burr,
- 32:55Speaker 2: I rememberer. Uh he told me. Uh it was at
- 33:00Speaker 2: Carolines and uh because we go watch Burr like before
- 33:04Speaker 2: he blew up, and he'd be like you could go
- 33:07Speaker 2: sit in the back of the room and watch because
- 33:08Speaker 2: it wasn't sold out. And then I remember the next
- 33:10Speaker 2: year it was it was like they wouldn't even let
- 33:14Speaker 2: us come in the room because it was too sold out.
- 33:16Speaker 2: And like so but Burr like when you just when
- 33:19Speaker 2: he knew your name, when he like he knew he
- 33:21Speaker 2: knew you, and uh, it was it was a really
- 33:25Speaker 2: big deal. And then I remember him saying like, look it,
- 33:28Speaker 2: uh it takes the route that guys let us go.
- 33:32Speaker 2: It takes us a long time, but you gain fans,
- 33:35Speaker 2: and you gain fans for life. And I remember, and
- 33:37Speaker 2: I always thought about that throughout my whole career, like
- 33:41Speaker 2: how like you know, like this build up it take.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I've been common twenty years and uh, it's all just
- 33:47Speaker 2: like a slow like kind of just always going up.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Not a bad thing, but it can be frustrating. It
- 33:52Speaker 2: doesn't happen as fast as another one some one said
- 33:55Speaker 2: was like it's not as it's not as fast as
- 33:58Speaker 2: you want, but quicker than you think like and so
- 34:00Speaker 2: you have these moments that just like it kind of
- 34:03Speaker 2: takes a slow kind of thing and you got to
- 34:04Speaker 2: just kind of grind it out. And so yeah, Burr
- 34:07Speaker 2: was a big part of that. At Mayor Marin was
- 34:11Speaker 2: very nice to me and uh foul and obviously to
- 34:14Speaker 2: do a lot of stuff for me, and uh so
- 34:17Speaker 2: there's just a world of people that end up, you know,
- 34:20Speaker 2: doing things that are very they're just nice to you
- 34:23Speaker 2: or there they see it and they go like, you know,
- 34:25Speaker 2: this dude's like the real deal, and you're you know,
- 34:28Speaker 2: you just need that little confidence that right.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Then, that like a little bit of yeah yeah, yeah.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you want the validation from your peers. I mean
- 34:36Speaker 2: that's all that really matters, is uh what other comics. Yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 2: that's that's the beginning that you feel like what do
- 34:43Speaker 2: they think of us?
- 34:44Speaker 3: You know?
- 34:44Speaker 1: Is that process different though? When you like you've been
- 34:46Speaker 1: doing it for twenty years, you see a guy's been
- 34:48Speaker 1: doing it for maybe five or six years and they're
- 34:51Speaker 1: trying to accelerate their career. Do you ever sit with
- 34:54Speaker 1: those guys like, hey, just take your time, Like some
- 34:57Speaker 1: dudes are you know, trying to do too much too early.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I think a lot.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I think sometimes people can do they can go too
- 35:06Speaker 2: they can do too much stuff. That's like, uh, you
- 35:09Speaker 2: know they're like, I'm gonna do sketches, i wanna do
- 35:10Speaker 2: a podcast, I'm gonna do stand up, I'm gonna do
- 35:12Speaker 2: impro like and it's like, well, go be great at
- 35:15Speaker 2: one thing. If you can be great at one thing,
- 35:17Speaker 2: you can do all the other things. But you have
- 35:20Speaker 2: to you can't just be kind of fine at a
- 35:23Speaker 2: bunch of things. You need to really learn how to
- 35:25Speaker 2: be great at one thing. And that's then you know
- 35:27Speaker 2: how to be great at other things because you know
- 35:30Speaker 2: what it takes to become great or really good at
- 35:32Speaker 2: one thing. So I think soon as like younger comics
- 35:35Speaker 2: can spread them stuff out and there there's too much
- 35:37Speaker 2: stuff that they're trying to do.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Uh, so you can see.
- 35:41Speaker 2: That I'm a big like younger comics like, I'm a
- 35:44Speaker 2: big I'm a big act person. Like there's a lot
- 35:47Speaker 2: of crowd work stuff. Look, I know people can do crowdworks.
- 35:52Speaker 2: It's easiest to post content on social media's the crowd
- 35:55Speaker 2: work and stuff like that. But I'm a creating an
- 35:58Speaker 2: act is a If you can create an act it's uh,
- 36:01Speaker 2: it's it's it's the best thing you can do, and
- 36:03Speaker 2: it's it's the most reliable, and it's Uh when people
- 36:07Speaker 2: come see you in d a live show, they I
- 36:09Speaker 2: mean they want to see an act.
- 36:10Speaker 3: They want to see a whole kind of thing.
- 36:12Speaker 2: And stand up is in such a great spot right
- 36:14Speaker 2: now where like we're doing arenas and they're doing there's
- 36:17Speaker 2: a lot of comics doing arenas and doing these big
- 36:20Speaker 2: kind of venues and uh, stand ups in a pretty
- 36:23Speaker 2: wonderful spot. And you know, guys are selling out and
- 36:26Speaker 2: doing big things, and so it's you want them to
- 36:30Speaker 2: be like the exhausting part. You gotta create. You got
- 36:32Speaker 2: to create an act. You gotta constant use stuff coming
- 36:35Speaker 2: uh coming up with stuff on the fly. Like you
- 36:37Speaker 2: look at like Shane, like I know they are, you
- 36:40Speaker 2: know with Shane Gillis, Like Shane gils Is, Like I
- 36:43Speaker 2: haven't seen someone like Shane in a long time. And uh,
- 36:46Speaker 2: he's he's unbelievable as a comedian and like seeing him
- 36:51Speaker 2: like I know his what his next special is going
- 36:53Speaker 2: to be, and it's like it's gonna be great, and
- 36:57Speaker 2: he's I've i mean, I've seen the hour he's run.
- 37:00Speaker 3: I didn't see the taping.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Yeah we saw was Dudeah, I I really I think
- 37:06Speaker 4: it's feel the smiles creeping up on our faces the
- 37:09Speaker 4: minute you said Shane like we means the I mean,
- 37:12Speaker 4: so Shane is yeah, like I mean, I, uh, Shane's
- 37:17Speaker 4: I wasn't really there when Shane was there.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I don't. I think I was gone. I've been a
- 37:20Speaker 3: comedy forever.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Shane's Like Shane's also reminder how old I am, Like
- 37:24Speaker 2: when you used to realize, like, I mean, he's been
- 37:26Speaker 2: a comedy for a little bit now, and uh, he
- 37:30Speaker 2: was just he was like I remember hearing about him
- 37:32Speaker 2: when he first came out. He would go out with
- 37:34Speaker 2: Dan Soder a lot in another comic. That's an unbelievable comedian. That's, Uh,
- 37:38Speaker 2: SODA's really hitting the road now. Soda is a great
- 37:41Speaker 2: comedian that if you go watch, like me and Soda
- 37:44Speaker 2: are very close friends, and like he's friends with Mike McDaniels.
- 37:47Speaker 2: There is and uh, but SODA's like was doing the
- 37:50Speaker 2: Bonfire with Big Jay and uh then now he's doing comedy,
- 37:53Speaker 2: He's really going to go hit the road really hard.
- 37:56Speaker 2: So Soda, like that's what you got to do like
- 37:58Speaker 2: you got to go on the road and you got
- 38:00Speaker 2: to just stay in these and build this stuff up.
- 38:02Speaker 2: And if you build these are guys that if you
- 38:04Speaker 2: build these acts, and they will because they their acts
- 38:07Speaker 2: are gonna be you start producing hours. If you look
- 38:09Speaker 2: at Louis or Carlin or Chris Rocker all this kind
- 38:12Speaker 2: of stuff, you know, you're you're you're building these hours
- 38:15Speaker 2: that you can go specials. Gaffkin's just putting out a
- 38:18Speaker 2: new special. It's I think it's coming out this week maybe,
- 38:21Speaker 2: uh it's his tenth hour. It's you know how hard
- 38:24Speaker 2: it is to write ten hours of material. It's basically impossible.
- 38:29Speaker 2: There's no one that's really that you know, that can
- 38:31Speaker 2: do it. The limited amount that can do it is
- 38:33Speaker 2: it's a very small group.
- 38:35Speaker 3: And uh so it's.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Like, go try to be in that group, Like that's
- 38:39Speaker 2: what that's what I look at like, stim try to
- 38:41Speaker 2: be in that group to go produce stuff. That's why
- 38:43Speaker 2: I think some people get it's it's hard to do,
- 38:46Speaker 2: it's tiring. Uh and so then you can flip into
- 38:50Speaker 2: slide into this other stuff where it's like whether it
- 38:52Speaker 2: be like if your whole act becomes I'm not trying
- 38:54Speaker 2: to crack.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Some people are so great at craftwork.
- 38:57Speaker 2: But if your whole act becomes that, then and it's
- 39:00Speaker 2: like you're not really creating, you know, it's like you're
- 39:02Speaker 2: just I think you get stuck. Versus if you build
- 39:06Speaker 2: an act. I think an act can go because people
- 39:08Speaker 2: want to go watch the show. I mean, you can't
- 39:10Speaker 2: go really watch in an arena and just be like
- 39:12Speaker 2: sitting in the top watching a guy get made fun of,
- 39:15Speaker 2: you know, in the front row. That's not gonna come
- 39:17Speaker 2: across as fun for that person up at the top.
- 39:20Speaker 2: So it's always as big as it can get, I think,
- 39:24Speaker 2: And so like the ones that are creating the act, because.
- 39:26Speaker 4: You're never actually like working on something, yeah, I knowing
- 39:29Speaker 4: your next show, thinking you can not like write I
- 39:32Speaker 4: don't know, I'm assuming like you're just not writing things
- 39:34Speaker 4: down or trying to work on bits and be like
- 39:35Speaker 4: I'm gonna go take it here.
- 39:36Speaker 3: You're just leaning on the fact that you can do
- 39:38Speaker 3: crowd working.
- 39:38Speaker 2: You can go sit and like yeah, and I mean
- 39:40Speaker 2: that stuff's super fun. I mean it's like I and
- 39:43Speaker 2: guys are really really great at Big Jay Orgerson's. Big
- 39:46Speaker 2: Jay's one of the funniest people I've ever met in
- 39:48Speaker 2: my entire life, and he's the best and he does
- 39:51Speaker 2: all like he does it and not.
- 39:53Speaker 3: And it it.
- 39:54Speaker 2: But Big Jays can tell stories and he's so great
- 39:56Speaker 2: at stories and all this stuff.
- 39:58Speaker 3: So it's U. I always to people think I'm trying.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I trash crowd work more than most people, but I'm
- 40:06Speaker 2: I just see with young girl. I just hope that
- 40:09Speaker 2: some still like. That's why I was so great seeing Shane.
- 40:12Speaker 2: And like when I saw Shane for the first time,
- 40:14Speaker 2: I came he came to his aenies and I went
- 40:16Speaker 2: down and watched him before I really knew him, and
- 40:18Speaker 2: but I've heard about him. We've kind of like said
- 40:20Speaker 2: what's up. And I watched him and I was like,
- 40:22Speaker 2: oh man, this is crazy, dude, this is like and
- 40:26Speaker 2: it was and I got very excited because it was like, yeah, yeah, dude,
- 40:30Speaker 2: Like this is this Dude's gonna be you know, obviously
- 40:34Speaker 2: he's super funny in this situation all that, but he
- 40:37Speaker 2: has an act and he goes up with an act
- 40:40Speaker 2: and goes out and destroys. I mean we saw him
- 40:43Speaker 2: in Charleston and uh it was like, dude, I mean
- 40:48Speaker 2: they stand up and you could just get a standovation immediately,
- 40:51Speaker 2: like you saw, people are so excited to see him,
- 40:55Speaker 2: and he's so fun and funny, and it just feels different,
- 40:58Speaker 2: and it's like it doesn't feel serious, and I think
- 41:01Speaker 2: comedy's going that way back that way, which is a
- 41:04Speaker 2: good thing.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Where it's comedy that's like.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Being like, yeah, dude, I'm not No one's trying to
- 41:07Speaker 2: tell you what to do or you know, Shane's not
- 41:09Speaker 2: telling you how to vote. He's not telling you how
- 41:11Speaker 2: to do any of this stuff. It's like just being
- 41:13Speaker 2: funny and like anybody can watch it. Anybody can like
- 41:16Speaker 2: just you know, it's like I'm just having fun, man,
- 41:18Speaker 2: not everybody, not everybody.
- 41:20Speaker 3: I had a clothes boyd Yeah, he's the boy.
- 41:24Speaker 1: But we saw his stand up in Austin and shortly
- 41:26Speaker 1: after he came on the bus for the first time.
- 41:29Speaker 1: We really didn't know about Shane, like we knew I
- 41:31Speaker 1: got fired from SNEL. You know, he's a comedian on
- 41:33Speaker 1: the up, and we're like, hey, we're excited to have him.
- 41:35Speaker 1: He crushed it on the podcast. He was so funny.
- 41:38Speaker 1: So then we took the time to like go watch
- 41:40Speaker 1: his YouTube special in Austin and it is I'm like,
- 41:42Speaker 1: I'm by myself, laughing my ass off. And so I
- 41:46Speaker 1: go to Arizona and see this family that I lived with. Yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 1: and one day like the dad is you know fox
- 41:53Speaker 1: News dad, he's a Fox News dad and his bit
- 41:55Speaker 1: about Fox News dade.
- 41:57Speaker 3: I was like, hey, you've got to watch.
- 41:58Speaker 4: His stand up and I put it on, and in
- 42:00Speaker 4: the first five minutes is him essentially making a fun
- 42:04Speaker 4: of Fox.
- 42:04Speaker 3: News dads and like the Wall and all that, and
- 42:07Speaker 3: I'm laughing. Still.
- 42:08Speaker 1: It's like the fourth or fifth time I've watched it,
- 42:09Speaker 1: and he doesn't laugh, doesn't make a noise, and he
- 42:13Speaker 1: just grabs the controler and goes, let's watch something else,
- 42:15Speaker 1: and then it turns it off without taking a vote
- 42:17Speaker 1: from anybody else.
- 42:18Speaker 3: I thought, man, you got to open up, you got
- 42:20Speaker 3: to open it up a little bit, bro. I told
- 42:22Speaker 3: him that a dozen times, like you've got to rewatch it.
- 42:24Speaker 1: But then I'll rewatch it, and then I'll hear the
- 42:25Speaker 1: Trump stuff and I'm like, hey, maybe he shouldn't watch it. Yeah,
- 42:27Speaker 1: maybe he shouldn't into your gay yo. He does sit
- 42:31Speaker 1: down your gay bro.
- 42:32Speaker 4: The military bit that he does with the Taliban when
- 42:37Speaker 4: people get to see that you were with him in
- 42:39Speaker 4: Zanies a couple of weeks ago, right, Yeah, I bet
- 42:41Speaker 4: the people at Zany's were so fired up because he
- 42:43Speaker 4: had hit us up.
- 42:43Speaker 3: It was after Beer Olympics.
- 42:44Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a hey after Yeah, the day after we're recovering,
- 42:48Speaker 4: he's like, hey, Nate and I are gonna we're gonna
- 42:51Speaker 4: go on a Zanies at like nine thirty or ten
- 42:52Speaker 4: thirty or something like that.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I was like, oh, man, like I'm out, Like y'all
- 42:56Speaker 2: had a pretty big day.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, like I was fucking hurt. Bro, he was
- 43:00Speaker 4: bruised up, probably prime telling you about. He kept showing us,
- 43:04Speaker 4: He kept showing us his body. That's more on him though,
- 43:07Speaker 4: But I saw him because you.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Tackled in the photo.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and like you're it's like, y'all just don't like realize,
- 43:14Speaker 2: like because Shane's big too, but he's not like strong
- 43:18Speaker 2: like y'all, and so I feel like he gets meat.
- 43:20Speaker 2: It's like a big dog. Like it's a dog that
- 43:23Speaker 2: you're like that tries to play with them and then
- 43:24Speaker 2: you're like, well, I don't know if i'd play with
- 43:27Speaker 2: he goes, don't go, don't go full on.
- 43:29Speaker 4: You don't have this laboratory retrieve. Yeah, show on Instagram
- 43:32Speaker 4: man just being on top of Shane and because it's
- 43:35Speaker 4: started off if him, like you know, he gets there,
- 43:38Speaker 4: he seems very unenthusiastic to be there.
- 43:41Speaker 3: He's like, we're gonna get buried.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Whatever it is, what it is he gets, he does
- 43:45Speaker 1: one chug, like the first event was was a chug,
- 43:48Speaker 1: and then after that anytime he lost an event, be
- 43:50Speaker 1: behind me and will just talking ship, like you guys
- 43:52Speaker 1: are pet hosts.
- 43:53Speaker 3: You guys are nasty quick being that they're all laughing
- 43:55Speaker 3: at you. I'm gonna remind you they're all laughing at
- 43:57Speaker 3: you when you chug you.
- 43:58Speaker 4: I go in one of my one of the rooms
- 44:00Speaker 4: and he's there talking ship, sitting on a chair and
- 44:02Speaker 4: he's like, you dude, you're a pussy dude.
- 44:03Speaker 3: I'll beat your ass right now.
- 44:05Speaker 4: So I start wrestling him, and the whole rest of
- 44:07Speaker 4: the day like turned into that.
- 44:08Speaker 3: And then he's talking about all the bruises.
- 44:10Speaker 1: It's like, but you gotta get out in the sun
- 44:11Speaker 1: if you don't want a bruise like that, Like he
- 44:13Speaker 1: literally has michelin Man type of skin.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Is that what you have to do?
- 44:17Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like you gotta weather it up
- 44:18Speaker 1: a little bit, right, Is that what you have to do?
- 44:21Speaker 1: I think I do well. You say older dudes. You
- 44:23Speaker 1: see older dudes, You're like, what does their skin look like?
- 44:25Speaker 3: Leather?
- 44:25Speaker 4: Yeah, Leather's tough, it's durable, it's reliable. It's like the
- 44:28Speaker 4: Chevy Silverado.
- 44:29Speaker 1: If you don't ever go out in the sun like
- 44:31Speaker 1: one little hey, how you doing a little slap on
- 44:33Speaker 1: the lake, there's gonna be a welt there. Luckily Will
- 44:35Speaker 1: got some nice thighs and he's got a little sun
- 44:38Speaker 1: tent on there.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Shane Shane just welted up easy to like that. I've
- 44:43Speaker 3: never heard anything like that.
- 44:45Speaker 2: It's just it's like, well, you know, want bruises, just
- 44:47Speaker 2: get on the sun right there, just jumping the city a.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Little bit and then bruised.
- 44:52Speaker 4: That's all you got.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Do you just make that up?
- 44:54Speaker 4: It's like, did essentially make that out? But it gotta
- 44:58Speaker 4: makes sense when you really think about it. I guess
- 45:00Speaker 4: it does. Chandler on me, dude, Michael Chandler. I mean
- 45:04Speaker 4: he could stand up on this bus, no problem. I
- 45:07Speaker 4: have plenty of room, little or guy. But he wrestled
- 45:10Speaker 4: me in the pool and I almost drowned about six times,
- 45:12Speaker 4: and then the rest of the day it was like
- 45:13Speaker 4: he was.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Being Yeah, he's a little bit pool. It was his
- 45:17Speaker 3: right hand man.
- 45:17Speaker 2: It was his guard so strong. Oh, dude, Fandler is
- 45:21Speaker 2: just and the best, due, the nicest guy.
- 45:25Speaker 4: You're way too nice to be in the octagon like that.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. Yeah, he's a wild thought. Yeah, but
- 45:32Speaker 3: he like enjoys it.
- 45:33Speaker 1: We were at his, uh his house for Labor Day
- 45:36Speaker 1: weekend last year, and his pool is like four feet deep.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's the late night.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Everyone's been drinking a little bit and I see somebody
- 45:43Speaker 1: something dive into the pool, but their feet don't go
- 45:46Speaker 1: in the water, so he essentially dove in the pool
- 45:49Speaker 1: and hits his face and comes up. And I'm in
- 45:51Speaker 1: the middle of a conversation with somebody. I look back and hey, Mike,
- 45:53Speaker 1: did you just hit your face on the floor of
- 45:56Speaker 1: the pool. And he's like no, no, He's like laughing,
- 45:59Speaker 1: just having a good and then all of a sudden,
- 46:01Speaker 1: his face just starts bleeding everywhere, and I'm like, you
- 46:04Speaker 1: gotta go wipe your faces, like, don't tell my wife,
- 46:06Speaker 1: don't tell my wife. And I was like, she's gonna fine,
- 46:07Speaker 1: look at you. She's gonna find you. Look like you
- 46:09Speaker 1: just got done with a fight from forehead to chin
- 46:13Speaker 1: road rash. And he's like helped me out of the pool.
- 46:15Speaker 1: So I literally grabbed him by his hips, like right
- 46:17Speaker 1: like here. I just remember thinking, he's just a fucking
- 46:21Speaker 1: dense ball of muscle. That's all this fucking dude is.
- 46:24Speaker 1: He's just so goddamn strong. Yeah, he's so strong. Yeah,
- 46:27Speaker 1: and then he takes my big ass and throws me
- 46:29Speaker 1: around the pool like a child.
- 46:31Speaker 3: I was humbled. It was a humbling experience for me.
- 46:33Speaker 3: I forgot that would be.
- 46:34Speaker 2: That would be the people always wondered, like a fight
- 46:37Speaker 2: would be like you and him with your sighs, even
- 46:41Speaker 2: anything else.
- 46:42Speaker 1: But if I had any training, I'm sure there'd be
- 46:45Speaker 1: more of an evil fight.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Yeah, no training, right me? Yeah, no, I'm getting bank. Yeah,
- 46:50Speaker 3: he's gonna absolutely tae me.
- 46:51Speaker 4: I've wrestled himsh Yeah, we were.
- 46:55Speaker 3: In the Oxygen one time. I did sneak him with
- 46:57Speaker 3: a spinning backfist.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Luckily for him, I stopped because my the awareness, but
- 47:01Speaker 1: that would have probably taken him out, would take him out.
- 47:03Speaker 1: But he's got He takes me to the ground, it's
- 47:05Speaker 1: over and he's gonna get to these legs be not
- 47:08Speaker 1: an issue at all.
- 47:09Speaker 3: He's excited about it.
- 47:10Speaker 1: No, Yeah, he sees these little sticks and he's like,
- 47:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna take advantage.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Yeah for sure. Yeah.
- 47:15Speaker 4: But the whole whoever was at Zany's, I mean that
- 47:18Speaker 4: was a surprise, right.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Yeah, so we.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Did, Uh, we were hanging out because I knew he
- 47:22Speaker 2: came down because I talked to Shane quite a bit,
- 47:24Speaker 2: like Shane's going uh not that I just like talking
- 47:27Speaker 2: to him because he's I mean, he's I think he's
- 47:30Speaker 2: very funny and then like he's just where he's at
- 47:32Speaker 2: in his career and he's starting to like really, I
- 47:34Speaker 2: think after this next special, I mean, Shane's going to
- 47:36Speaker 2: really be uh one of the top touring acts. I
- 47:40Speaker 2: mean he already is a very top touring act. He's
- 47:42Speaker 2: gonna be one of the top. And so he's a
- 47:44Speaker 2: good dude and just uh so we were just in town.
- 47:48Speaker 2: So we were hanging out just that day and then
- 47:50Speaker 2: I was like I kind of was I've been kind
- 47:51Speaker 2: of wanting to go up, uh and then I was
- 47:54Speaker 2: like you want to go up? And then He's like yeah,
- 47:56Speaker 2: So we were like let's just see and then so
- 47:58Speaker 2: we you know, it was I won the people I
- 48:01Speaker 2: don't think expected me and Shane to do.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:04Speaker 2: And then so we just called Zani's and they were
- 48:06Speaker 2: like yeah, and they put on selling and sold out immediately,
- 48:08Speaker 2: which we both you never get used to that.
- 48:10Speaker 3: You're both like in your head like is this gonna
- 48:12Speaker 3: sell it? Like you think like there's no way you
- 48:15Speaker 3: thought that. Sweet, you have a moment, dude.
- 48:17Speaker 2: You just you know, when you put yourself out there
- 48:18Speaker 2: a little bit and you're like, what if it doesn't
- 48:22Speaker 2: like imposter syndrome. Yeah, like yeah, and you think like
- 48:24Speaker 2: you're like, all right, me and Shane gonna do a show.
- 48:26Speaker 2: And then everybody's like we're good. I mean because it
- 48:29Speaker 2: was in let me make a call at like four
- 48:31Speaker 2: thirty and the show's at nine or nine thirty.
- 48:33Speaker 3: How quickly did it sell out? I think in fIF
- 48:35Speaker 3: in like ten minutes or it was like it was like.
- 48:37Speaker 4: Oh, if you're going yeah, yeah, when you're in Nashville,
- 48:40Speaker 4: you have to catch that.
- 48:41Speaker 3: You're fired the fuck up getting to watch Shane and you.
- 48:44Speaker 2: It was I want to do it again because it's
- 48:45Speaker 2: like the people that I, uh, we went in there.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Actually we had did some work I needed to. I
- 48:51Speaker 2: needed to like kind of run my hour and like
- 48:53Speaker 2: pull something. I needed to just figure out some time
- 48:55Speaker 2: stuff with my hour, and then Shane just went up there.
- 48:58Speaker 2: And but we went up there together at the end.
- 49:00Speaker 2: And that's what I think people like the most is
- 49:02Speaker 2: just me and him on stage hanging out and talking
- 49:05Speaker 2: and so I mean we talked about we want to
- 49:08Speaker 2: do it again, like it was because we both really
- 49:10Speaker 2: enjoyed it, and uh, I really like him, and uh
- 49:14Speaker 2: he's and he's a great I mean, he's a truly great, great.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Comment possibility you guys tour together now, I mean, the
- 49:20Speaker 3: only thing I'm clean.
- 49:21Speaker 2: So it's like I couldn't the audience that comes to me,
- 49:24Speaker 2: even though a lot of people that would see me
- 49:25Speaker 2: love Shane, but I wouldn't. I mean, I my kids
- 49:28Speaker 2: can come to my show, like it's all ages. So
- 49:30Speaker 2: it's I wouldn't want to put that much, you know,
- 49:32Speaker 2: like someone if that's our part of being clean, you
- 49:35Speaker 2: kind of on your own. And the fact that like
- 49:38Speaker 2: there's only so many I mean the comics that bring
- 49:40Speaker 2: out with me, not that they're all they're not all
- 49:42Speaker 2: clean outside of me, but they have to be clean
- 49:44Speaker 2: when they come to my shows. So uh, outside of that,
- 49:49Speaker 2: it's it's like kind of hard to be like because
- 49:51Speaker 2: it's like my crowds are I just can't.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I just really can't do it.
- 49:55Speaker 2: But so it's like that's why a situation like that
- 49:58Speaker 2: where we just like kind of pop on last minut
- 50:00Speaker 2: it yeah, is because then, you know, I think it's
- 50:02Speaker 2: people that are comedy fans and.
- 50:04Speaker 4: Right, they completely understand that this is like an anomaly
- 50:07Speaker 4: of Nate and shit coming out there.
- 50:09Speaker 2: It's not like there's versus like, you know, I might
- 50:11Speaker 2: have an entire my real show, Like there's be an
- 50:14Speaker 2: entire family comes, bring your grandparents, the grandchildren, and I'm
- 50:18Speaker 2: gonna be like, they're ready for Shane, and I think
- 50:20Speaker 2: they think we'll find Shane very funny. But they also
- 50:22Speaker 2: might be like, we didn't expect to hear all those words.
- 50:26Speaker 1: I mean, dude, we had that situation this past weekend
- 50:32Speaker 1: with what Kittlefest and Laser.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Yeah who uncle Laser is? I think I've heard his name.
- 50:39Speaker 1: He's a he's a comedian out of Austin, Texa's Yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 1: he's hilarious And I went and saw him at Zany's
- 50:45Speaker 1: a few weeks ago, and it's all, you know, pussy
- 50:49Speaker 1: eating ass.
- 50:50Speaker 3: It's as dirty.
- 50:51Speaker 1: As a gat mom jokes young gun like yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 50:55Speaker 1: So Kittle meets Laser at Beer Olympics and reaches out
- 50:59Speaker 1: to Lasers like, hey, I have Kittlefest coming up. Would
- 51:01Speaker 1: you like to come to it and do some stand
- 51:03Speaker 1: up like ten minutes? And Laser's like absolutely, I'll go.
- 51:05Speaker 1: And so once I caught wind of this, I caught
- 51:07Speaker 1: wind of it at the party, and I have seen
- 51:09Speaker 1: his stand up and it's you know, me and Will
- 51:12Speaker 1: are there, A bunch of our friends are there, but
- 51:13Speaker 1: there's also his aunts, his uncles, his grandparents, like there's
- 51:18Speaker 1: an older crowd as well, buttoned up wearing their Sunday
- 51:21Speaker 1: best type of stuff at a frat party.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Essentially, I told him I was like, brother, have you
- 51:25Speaker 3: heard Laser's stand up?
- 51:26Speaker 1: He's like, no, Yo, all right, okay, and he's the
- 51:28Speaker 1: first person to go up, and dude, it was probably
- 51:32Speaker 1: the most mixed review thing I've ever watched in my
- 51:34Speaker 1: life because there's like me and Will.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Are literally like probably standing there like smiling doing this.
- 51:39Speaker 3: So I mean, it's funny.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Spur a crowd that's you know RiPPs Marlboroughs and wears Nascar,
- 51:43Speaker 4: you know what I mean, Like it's you're not scared
- 51:44Speaker 4: of hearing the language, but then some people are can
- 51:47Speaker 4: be surprised at how dirty something can actually get.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Yeah, brings out us harmonica that talks about one's the
- 51:52Speaker 1: pussy and one's the ass, and that's how he learned
- 51:54Speaker 1: to eat out chicks.
- 51:55Speaker 3: And I'm just looking at the.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Grandma and she's like, oh yeah, she's looking like leans
- 51:58Speaker 1: over her husband, like did we He's got.
- 52:00Speaker 3: The harmonica playing that.
- 52:01Speaker 4: It gets him out of They can just get you harmonica,
- 52:05Speaker 4: all right.
- 52:05Speaker 1: It was so funny because he didn't hold back, He
- 52:08Speaker 1: didn't look at the crowd and go I should probably
- 52:09Speaker 1: tighten a couple of things up.
- 52:10Speaker 3: He went full boored right into it, no doubt that,
- 52:12Speaker 3: I fully believe. His eyes glazed over and he knew
- 52:16Speaker 3: the situation he was in. He's like, I just gotta
- 52:18Speaker 3: fucking get through this. Yeah, you gotta run.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean some of you get You're like, it
- 52:23Speaker 2: is what you do. So it's like just go do
- 52:26Speaker 2: what you do. And then you know, they either get
- 52:28Speaker 2: they laugh or they won't. What was the choice for
- 52:30Speaker 2: you to go clean. I just started that way, like, uh,
- 52:34Speaker 2: it was just how you know, grows from the South,
- 52:37Speaker 2: Southern Christian, Like, well, I wasn't allowed to watch anything
- 52:40Speaker 2: that stuff like that, and so my uh yeah.
- 52:45Speaker 1: We saw that we were watching some of your bits
- 52:47Speaker 1: before that ship was hilarious.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Yeah yeah it wasn't.
- 52:49Speaker 2: I mean I wasn't allowed to watch And there's so
- 52:51Speaker 2: many movies I've missed because I just was never allowed
- 52:53Speaker 2: to watch them and never watched up. Yeah, and I
- 52:56Speaker 2: still I know, uh, I never watched it. When we
- 53:00Speaker 2: weren't allowed to watch Simpsons, that was a big deal.
- 53:03Speaker 2: When I was young Simpsons came out. It was like
- 53:05Speaker 2: because bart was like against authority, Like it's like a
- 53:08Speaker 2: lot of parents didn't like that.
- 53:10Speaker 3: It was like this kid, did your dad watch the Simpsons?
- 53:13Speaker 4: No, no, no, one be like Sunday night football is over, Simpsons,
- 53:16Speaker 4: come on.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Yeah no.
- 53:18Speaker 2: It was yeah, it was just very I mean, I
- 53:21Speaker 2: I just when I grew up, it was just a lot.
- 53:22Speaker 3: It was just different.
- 53:23Speaker 2: There was the South was pretty strict and like what
- 53:26Speaker 2: you could do, I mean, you couldn't dance or I
- 53:29Speaker 2: went to Donaldall Christian Academy that they did.
- 53:32Speaker 3: We didn't have a problem.
- 53:33Speaker 2: We had like a banquet, and then you couldn't dance
- 53:36Speaker 2: because it was like dancing was not and it wasn't
- 53:38Speaker 2: like the parents don't believe dancing is bad. They believe
- 53:41Speaker 2: dancing is bad. But it's like you just would have
- 53:43Speaker 2: you know back then, I mean an eighty year old
- 53:46Speaker 2: in nineteen ninety seven that she thinks dancing is bad.
- 53:50Speaker 2: So you're kind of like not doing it to be
- 53:52Speaker 2: like kind of you.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Can get a little space, leave some room for the lord. Yeah,
- 53:56Speaker 3: you just go, well we would we could, you could go.
- 53:59Speaker 2: The parents with then they would rent out of room
- 54:01Speaker 2: and then everybody could have like a more of a
- 54:03Speaker 2: prom dance kind of after you would do a banquet,
- 54:06Speaker 2: like it's kind of a proper thing for like, you know,
- 54:08Speaker 2: those older people to be like we're not you know,
- 54:11Speaker 2: and then you go do the dance thing after.
- 54:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it was you know.
- 54:15Speaker 2: So it's like I grew up. You just grew up
- 54:16Speaker 2: in under those like, uh standards. So it's like I
- 54:20Speaker 2: just started. I just started clean and then uh, I
- 54:22Speaker 2: was always clean and and then you know, once you
- 54:25Speaker 2: start it's like kind of just the only way I
- 54:27Speaker 2: go now dide.
- 54:28Speaker 3: You've had a glow up about you.
- 54:29Speaker 4: I remember seeing you in NASCAR and you had that
- 54:31Speaker 4: your haircuts not that way, but you were laced up
- 54:33Speaker 4: with a skin fade.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Yeah, compared to years past.
- 54:36Speaker 4: I mean your stand up a couple of years ago,
- 54:38Speaker 4: the way you were a couple of years ago. You've
- 54:40Speaker 4: aged very well. Your skin I've noticed the entire time
- 54:42Speaker 4: is phenomenal. But you're like you were like one of
- 54:45Speaker 4: the dads where you show up at the barbecue and
- 54:47Speaker 4: you're like, oh, I hey, Nates here, this will be
- 54:48Speaker 4: a fun time.
- 54:49Speaker 3: Now it's like you show up at the barbecue. I
- 54:50Speaker 3: hate Nates here. He's you guys, he's pretty fucking big, ticking.
- 54:53Speaker 3: I'm going no bread. Yeah, what's what's the glow up? Like,
- 54:56Speaker 3: I'm not fun? I brought my own food door. Yeah,
- 55:00Speaker 3: you know, you don't talk to anymore.
- 55:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, it's been I mean the whole you know,
- 55:06Speaker 3: my whole run.
- 55:08Speaker 2: I'm forty four, So I quit drinking in twenty nineteen,
- 55:12Speaker 2: and a big part of that was like I was
- 55:16Speaker 2: just getting I knew I was like starting to go
- 55:18Speaker 2: to theaters and all this stuff. I knew if I
- 55:20Speaker 2: wanted to get where I wanted to go. I couldn't drink,
- 55:22Speaker 2: Like I wasn't able to when I drank. It's like
- 55:25Speaker 2: it's not like I just drank at home or did
- 55:27Speaker 2: all these things. Some people can drink and they you
- 55:30Speaker 2: might think you don't have a problem because you're not,
- 55:32Speaker 2: like your ago a week without drinking, But it's like
- 55:34Speaker 2: I didn't when I started. I didn't know how to
- 55:35Speaker 2: stop and like all that stuff. And so I knew
- 55:38Speaker 2: when i'd go on the road. It's like I start
- 55:40Speaker 2: Thursday night, it would be a fun night out at
- 55:41Speaker 2: a club, and then you drink that night and then
- 55:44Speaker 2: you're just hung over the rest of the weekend. So
- 55:46Speaker 2: then you then then you're just trying to get through
- 55:47Speaker 2: the shows because you don't feel great. And so I
- 55:50Speaker 2: was like, if I need if I want to produce
- 55:52Speaker 2: the material that I want to produce and tour and
- 55:54Speaker 2: all that, I needed to stop that. So that was
- 55:58Speaker 2: that was the when the first one and happened because
- 56:00Speaker 2: I just stopped drinking and something just literally drinking will
- 56:04Speaker 2: just help a lot of things. I still don't eat great,
- 56:08Speaker 2: and I'm trying now that's the second one. I'm trying
- 56:10Speaker 2: to overcome because it's like being on the road again.
- 56:13Speaker 2: It's like hard on your body. You kind of gotta
- 56:15Speaker 2: treat it like not an at like not a full athlete,
- 56:18Speaker 2: but as both y'all. Like, but it's like half of
- 56:21Speaker 2: it at you have to somewhat be so mentally you
- 56:24Speaker 2: can handle all the things that you have to go
- 56:27Speaker 2: do and so you can be in good moods and
- 56:30Speaker 2: be fun and then not be like just on edge
- 56:33Speaker 2: all the time and all this. So I'm trying to
- 56:35Speaker 2: work on that as well. But yeah, I man, we
- 56:38Speaker 2: had a good time. I mean the whole beginning of it. Yeah,
- 56:41Speaker 2: there's a lot of drinking. I mean, me and Hannibal
- 56:43Speaker 2: said we because I don't think he drinks anymore. I
- 56:46Speaker 2: don't know if he does now or not, but he
- 56:48Speaker 2: didn't a few years ago and we were talking about
- 56:50Speaker 2: Hannibal said something that always stuck with me. He was like,
- 56:53Speaker 2: you know, he goes, I look at it. He's like,
- 56:54Speaker 2: we put up some good numbers because we did good.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Because a lot of times you get drinking, everybody thinks like, wow,
- 57:00Speaker 2: it's being fun. You're like, no, I did all. I
- 57:02Speaker 2: did what you're doing right now. I did I already
- 57:04Speaker 2: did all this and you just weren't you were not
- 57:06Speaker 2: old enough to be there. But yeah, you're like, I
- 57:08Speaker 2: already went and did all this and it was a
- 57:09Speaker 2: fun time and I had to And then there's a
- 57:12Speaker 2: then you just hit a point where you get older
- 57:14Speaker 2: and you're like about forty, start going like all right,
- 57:17Speaker 2: You're like, I mean, just stuff starts hurting, like you
- 57:19Speaker 2: just You're like, I can't wake up and feel like
- 57:21Speaker 2: this every day, Like this is brutal.
- 57:23Speaker 3: It's a brutal feeling. That fog. That fog is terrible.
- 57:26Speaker 2: But it's the most fun in the during it for suing,
- 57:29Speaker 2: it is the most fun. I mean the Senior's Beer Olympics,
- 57:32Speaker 2: like that looked like it's the it's a wonderful, wonderful time.
- 57:37Speaker 3: It was awesome. It was so much awesome. Man.
- 57:39Speaker 4: You ever want to come out of retirement for a day, Yeah,
- 57:42Speaker 4: I know, I'm more than welcome.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Yeah. There's always moments where you're like, you know, I
- 57:46Speaker 2: hung out this weekend that I feel like I could
- 57:48Speaker 2: get your uh not to football because I did the
- 57:51Speaker 2: American Century Championship.
- 57:53Speaker 3: John Elway, John.
- 57:55Speaker 2: When meeting John Alway, who's bad on Alway is a
- 57:57Speaker 2: good time oh yeah, And I was telling dance Ow
- 57:59Speaker 2: does a giant Uh John Alway fans just he's from Denver,
- 58:03Speaker 2: And I was like telling Dan, I was like, John
- 58:05Speaker 2: Elway could make you quit drink, come out of retirement
- 58:08Speaker 2: and drink.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Dan doesn't drink either, and uh, because.
- 58:11Speaker 2: He's like just like a good like You're like, this
- 58:14Speaker 2: dude's the most fun and you don't think have you
- 58:17Speaker 2: met him.
- 58:17Speaker 3: No, I've never met John, but I hear a bunch
- 58:20Speaker 3: of stories.
- 58:20Speaker 2: You don't stories, like you think he's gonna be his
- 58:23Speaker 2: son is awesome to his son's a big Shane Gills fan. Uh,
- 58:27Speaker 2: his son's great, big comedy fan, roight, big fan of
- 58:30Speaker 2: you guys.
- 58:30Speaker 3: Like, does Shane know that his son's a big Shane
- 58:32Speaker 3: Gills fan? I think so, I don't know.
- 58:34Speaker 1: You know, yeah, Shane nuts over football players and you know,
- 58:40Speaker 1: but he was like someone that you're like, you know,
- 58:43Speaker 1: this dude's the bad I mean, you just think he's
- 58:45Speaker 1: gonna be stowing like this.
- 58:46Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 58:47Speaker 2: It's John Alway, so you just you just think he's
- 58:49Speaker 2: gonna be like you'll meet him, like how you doing this?
- 58:53Speaker 2: And you're like, this guy is a good time man.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Just like what a lot of charisma, A lot of charisma,
- 58:59Speaker 2: like laugh a lot you say anything, he's laugh at it.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Fun Like you just feel like you're gonna just be
- 59:04Speaker 2: with him and he'd be like You're like yeah, he's
- 59:06Speaker 2: like they take the boat out, and you're I didn't
- 59:08Speaker 2: go on the boat, but he's like you just he's
- 59:09Speaker 2: talking about it, like, oh, the boat showed me the boat.
- 59:12Speaker 3: You mentioned a boat. I think I could have gone
- 59:14Speaker 3: out of this.
- 59:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was just like it was just like
- 59:18Speaker 2: a very surprising meeting someone that you're like, oh, dude,
- 59:21Speaker 2: you're not what I thought. Like you realize Peyton maning
- 59:24Speaker 2: going to Denver, You're like, yeah, dude, Like yeah, yeah,
- 59:29Speaker 2: put anybody in.
- 59:30Speaker 3: A room with John Denver. You're John ellwooy, You're gonna
- 59:32Speaker 3: be like, yeah, I'll go.
- 59:33Speaker 4: Dude, you're the best, best fucking cool man. Who else? Like,
- 59:37Speaker 4: who else have you met?
- 59:38Speaker 3: This been? Like, oh, dude, you are fucking because that
- 59:41Speaker 3: is the best feeling.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Like we talked about the people you meet and you're like, man,
- 59:44Speaker 1: don't meet your heroes, but the people you meet and
- 59:46Speaker 1: they're either exactly like you thought they would be or
- 59:48Speaker 1: even better, like you're saying, Yeah, that's the best feeling.
- 59:50Speaker 2: A lot of like Cable guys like that, Larry Cable guy,
- 59:54Speaker 2: Larry's aweah, bro, Yeah.
- 59:57Speaker 4: I would have loved to join you in that enthusiast.
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: He's obviously a massive Nebraska fan. So when we had
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: our one of our tailgates last year at Nebraska, well
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: he came on the uh we had the podcast out
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: there at Nebraska, and he's just the nicest fucking dude.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: He's just so funny, just salt of the earth, exactly
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: like what you kind of see on camera, and even
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: better just like you're hanging out with him.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that that's the part that you want, is like
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: when you can see when you meet someone in there
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: like super nice and they're just it seems like they're
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: like a girl.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: I met Devonte Adams this week and he was awesome.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: He was like kind of a funny dude, like uh
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: and just like kind of quiet and but just my
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: experience with him was very nice to talk to and
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: like it was just super fun.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Vrabel was there. I met very Rabel's a good time.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you see why you want to like, yeah, you
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: can see why you want to play for like you
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: get it. Like that's what's interesting, is like when you
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: when you go, oh, this is why people like like
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: you and want to play, like cause you're like you're
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: you're He just feels like he'd be one of he'd
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: be you, Like he'd be like if you played for him,
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: you'd be like, he's just you.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: There's a totally different dynamic though when you're his player
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: like him now with us is great. Like we had
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: him on the podcast very recently. He came on yesterday.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I know, but I'm trying to play because this this
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: comes out forty or whatever. Yeah, he came on yesterday. Yeah,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: and the three of us have a group chat, me,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Will and Braves and it's our podcast. Was every bit
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: of that group chat. Like it can be awkward at times,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: it's funny at times he gets serious, Like you just
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: don't he like Rabel's a guy that dictates how the
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: conversation is going to go, especially when you're the player. Yeah,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: in the first year we sit twenty eighteen, he's got.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: That alpha energy and you could just tell, like the
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: dynamic even on him on yesterday, you just you know,
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: there's still those nerves of like, you know, is he.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we're growing mad for this.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Will's turning thirty thirty three this year, right, Yeah, I
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: literally turned thirty two in less than a week. Yeah,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: and we're there's literally nerves where I'm being around another
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: man like, hey, yeah, but he can't hurt us anymore.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: We can't. There's nothing he can do. We start joking
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: about fighting that I really thought, is he does he second? Yeah?
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: But he is like a good time Rabell has got
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: to be the best time. Yeah. He's a guy that dynamic,
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I but I've always liked the New York comedy had
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: a dynamic like that. Like you always like the people
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: that started that were the bigger comics above you, and
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: not even necessarily like fame wise, but just the you know,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: there's guys that started before you. There's always ah, there's
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: always like a respect that you're like, you know, like
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: you just the older guys. I remember Robert Kill, Bobby Kelly,
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: who does uh podka, who does a bonfire now with
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: Big Jay. Bobby is like so funny and uh. But
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Bobby's like a guy that like I feel like Bobby
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: told me to go do something, I would just have
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: to go do it because he was he's you know,
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: he just looked up to him so much. He started
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: out open for him a lot and did this stuff.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: So like the I've always liked that, like kind of
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: like in stuff. I think it's a good thing.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: Yeah, like a like a natural just subtle power dynamic
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: that happens just never really get talked about.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Keith Robinson, Like Keith Robinson was in Is in New
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: York comic that was like, would he you know, Jay
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: big Ja and Kevin and they would he did. He
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: helped him a lot, and uh, you know, Kevin Art's
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: obviously the most famous person on the planet and Keith
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: is most people would not know who Keith is. But
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: I think Kevin's got to feel like a little you know.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: It's like there's a little like Keith could Keith and
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: say whatever he wants to Kevin, like the situation Raybel
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: could sit down and say whatever he wants to you whatever,
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Like You're still gonna feel like you gotta just take it, Like.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: And that hurts, like it hurts to agree with that,
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: but it's totally true.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Got them pizza feet And I'm just like, yeah, yeah
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: he did say that to you.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, who's somebody who's somebody that you've met that
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: you've been absolutely fired up to fucking meet.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: I met Tiger Tiger Woods. That's a solid one.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: And that was before or after after again, very humble,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: very cool. Uh tell you what, people just need a little.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: People need a little.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I can tell you if you think someone's like getting
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: a little too high on the horse, Uh yeah, there
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: could be.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: I got the you got the pill to make that
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: all better. Uh. But he was Yeah, he was awesome.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: I mean yeah, he just felt like I did a
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: corporate gig for the PGA or something. It was him
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: and Rory were there. This was and uh, I didn't
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: get to meet Rory. I would like to meet Rory,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: and uh, I just didn't get to meet him. But
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Rory seemed very nice.
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: And then but Tiger was there and they I was
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: like kind of like it'd be really cool to meet him,
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: and the lady was like, yeah, we're having and he
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: kind of came up and I just gotta briefly talk
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: to him and then we just talked about it. He
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: went on the Tonight show and talked about foul and
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: and uh, kind of quick we gotta I got a picture,
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: like that's not just me and him. It was just
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: taking picture of kind of the moment and uh yeah
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: where you like just take a bunch of pak like
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: I don't I don't want to ask, make sure you
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: have your camera out. Yeah yeah, And so that that,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: I mean, that was like one that I was like,
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: you know, Jordan would be another one. Uh, but Tiger
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: was probably the is the biggest for me because Tiger
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: I watched his whole thing, like when he turned pro.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: I mean, I'm he's forty eight or nine or something
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: like that, and I was just at the age of
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: like watching that guy's whole existence. So yeah, Tiger was
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: one that where he was like You're like, this is crazy, dude. Yeah,
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: I'd imagine meeting like Tom Cruise would be like that.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: There's like big ones.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he's very nice. Yeah, he's just nice. He's someone
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: that you should want. You should meet Tom Hanks. Yeah,
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: one of those Like he's like one though that you're
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: like go you like if you if it's like if
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: you saw him out and someone's again, don't meet your hero,
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: like you can go meet Tom Hanks. That dude's a
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: good dude. Yeah, he's a he was very very nice
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: very nice.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: I wonder what Tom Cruise is about. I wonder what
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: he's think.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: I've heard scientology, right, yeah, it's like that's like I
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: do movies and then scientologist.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: That's the thing.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: I'd be scared to meet him because I would probably
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: become a scientolgst.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Have you been on a scientology building on eighth Avenue? No?
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I haven't. There's one right on eighth.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: You go down and every once in a while there'll
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: be a little thing out there that says free personality test.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: I've been tempted to just pull over.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a there's a I get nervous signs like
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: they're they're good, and I think they could you go
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: in there and you're like, all right, all right.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: They can they Yeah?
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: They go yeah, if you if you just have any
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: which I think is how you should live with any
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: question of anything.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: Just question everything a little bit.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Uh, And then you go see they go into the
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: scientology and then Tom Cruise was in there like that.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Dude's the most charming person the people that have met him.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: I knew a guy that worked as a director and
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: a writer and they had him writing on one of
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: the Mission Impossibles a while ago and they said that,
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Uh they told him when he when they met him,
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: they go, look, when you meet Tom, they go, just say, no,
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: you're gonna think y'all are going to be best friends.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Like that's how charming he is. Is He's just eat
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: takes over and you were just like this dude's.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: The best.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: And you're like, we're gonna you're like, we might be
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: hanging out every day ever. Yeah, and that's just what
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: it's gonna feel like, because that's that's what he is.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: It takes that kind of charm to be that. And
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: then they were he was he went into a hotel
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: room on the top floor. Uh, they rented the whole
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: floor out. You know, I mean, you can't that guy
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: like is a walking Walmart, Like he's a billion dollars.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Like it's just you have to be like and I
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: think he tries to get on a motorcycle alone and
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: just drive off and you're like, yeah, you're like, you're
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: like the most important person a lot, dude, You're here,
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: all these movies, all this stuff.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: You can't just run away from us like that.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: Yeah, But you know, like when he gets on a motorcycle,
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: like just all of a sudden music starts playing too,
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: like as he drives off.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: So my buddy said, he's sitting in uh, he's sitting
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: in uh the hotel. So they tell him that. So
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: Tom Cruise is here and he's facing the window, and
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: they're sitting on the couch looking at Tom, and they're
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: talking about like all right, we'll go do this for mission,
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: but then we're gonna and Tom's kind of going to
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: the whole thing. And then they see Tom start to
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: squint because the sun was setting, so the sun's coming
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: in the window and start a squint. So then they
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: say he says, Tom just pushes.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: A button on. I don't even know.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: It might have been like an iPad or it might
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: have been something pushes a button. Two people come in
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: with sunglasses. He's got an option, so they both have
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: a pair, and he just looks and then grabs this
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: pair and puts it on, and but just keeps talking
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: the whole time and then never says yeah, yeah, those
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: are my sunglasses, people, or whatever you should say to
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: go like hey, what was that like light the version people?
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: It doesn't make sense, like you're like, are they just
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: back there? Does that button just for sunglasses? Like you
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: have people just for sunglasses or like, how would they
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: know they came out of a room offered two per
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: He's still talking and just goes puts it on.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: They leave, and then he still just keeps going. You know,
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: like if you're in there and you just kind of
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: like look around, nobody says you're gonna ask, I would say, like, hey,
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: who were they?
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: It's probably one of those moments where you look around
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: you see everybody still die.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: Then you're kind of just too scared to say anything.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: He's I think he's taken over the situation. He's talking
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: so much, and he's probably and he's into it, like
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: because he's like doing these stunts.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he does all this stuff himself.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: So he's like you know, and you're just kind of
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: like caught up in it, and you might almost expect it.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: To be honest, you might sit there and go, yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: that's what. They should have brought him sunglasses And that's
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: insane that y'all made him push the button.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: You should have just felt it. Somebody just got fired.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: You know what, it's five o'clock, the sun's starting to set.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Let's go be around Tom with sunglasses and then you
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: just get on that side. You could remember once I'm
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: talking to super rich dude that said like he was
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: running by a house and uh, he said, you know
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: because with the master bedroom only had one bathroom and
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: he said it like that, and I was like, what,
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: like master bedrooms only, like they have two full bathrooms.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: And but then the moment when they say it, you're like.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, screw that house. Are you out of your mind?
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Why were you embarrass thing is that that they build
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: a house with just one bathroom, yeah, in the master bedroom.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: To thirty squire foot house.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like they didn't have two bathrooms in the
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: master bedroom. You're like, well, that's I'm glad you.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: Didn't buy it. Yeah, you know what they yeah, they
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: never sell. Yeah, and that's a good point. Yeah.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: You start realizing, like, my stupid house, I got one
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: bathroom in the master bedroom, and I.
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: Look like an idiot. I hope god he never comes over,
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: I hope. Yeah.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't invite him. Yeah, man, that's crazy. You
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: look at the window. Yeah yeah, I changed my bathroom.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: I didn't even know that was a possibility to want
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: two bathrooms, Like that's a dream that you're like, I
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: didn't know you, I could even have that dream. But
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: now I'll think about every day when I'm fuling.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Like two full bathrooms. When I look at two bathrooms
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: two showers in the master bedroom, that didn't make any sense. Well,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: that's unpractical.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: And next time you look at your dumb wife brushing
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: your teeth next to you, like you should be in
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: your own bathroom, and you're just furious, like you go,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: what are we doing all scrammed in here?
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: Pissed off? Yeah, you gotta share a scene, ma'am. We
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: got a I know, I feel like I hit the
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: first one. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: What is the shittiest moment of your career?
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Uh, there's been a bunch. Uh, it's trying to think
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: I bombed on a cruise once.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: And uh. And so you're on the boat with these
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: people and get off.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: I remember, like I had to do three shows, and
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: so I do the first two shows. One show goes
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: the point when you would do them you have to
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: do three shows of half an hour, so you'd have
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: to do a half hour clean, half hour dirty, and
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: then you'd have another show that's like a half hour.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: And so this is a show actually that a lot
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: of crowd work. Comics that can do crowd work are
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: very good at cause it's like that's kind of the
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: best thing because you can just go do talk to
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: the crowd. Every every crowd is different, every show is
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: different because you're talking to the crowd. But for me,
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: I didn't have like enough, I'm not a CrowdWork person.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: I didn't know how to do it, and then I'm
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: not great at it, and then I'll add material, so
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: I go do it and like I just bomb, like
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: because they they've all heard the jokes because I've only
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: had like basically an hour. So I split them up
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: into the two of those thirty minute shows, and then
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: the third show, I was like, well, maybe those people
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: won't come back. Well they come back and they just
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: and I wrote I remember that show. I wrote an
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: elevator with guys and they were saying, they were like, yeah,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: there's two comics and then go, this one comic was great.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: The other guy they loved him, and im me, they
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: go that other guy is like not good, and I mean,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: my shoulder is touching that man who's saying that. But
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: I have like my hat on and not that you
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: even know me. So that was a pretty tough like
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: I was in h I was in an elevator in
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: the ocean. I think it's a moment that you would
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: think you'd be happy and you just I mean, I'm
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: just and I just got off whatever floor was, the
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: next floor.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: I just walked off.
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: God, that would be brutally something body being on a
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: cruise ship.
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: He did. He did some shows and he bombed.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: And he's on the elevator and the guy, the gentleman
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: next to me, there's a you know, a crowd on
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: the other He's wearing a hat, so they can't they
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: don't recognize who he is. They're talking about how you
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: know this one comic they loved him, and then but
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: that last one, like he just.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Wasn't very good and he said he's he's just standing there.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: That's tough. You ever get over that?
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Uh yeah, you remember, you know, it's always funny afterwards
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: because you're like, you're glad it happens, like, uh, you're
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: glad in the sense that it's a funny story to tell,
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: like you know, uh, but yeah, it's pretty tough.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: I'll tell you.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: One of the ones that hurt me the most was
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: I auditioned for Last Comic Standing when Gialdo hosted, and
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: uh uh and Craig Robinson was on it because he
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: had his he had a movie. Very funny joke that
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: Girado said, Craig Robinson had the movie a hot Tub
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: time Machine. And uh and so write and you see
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: because I got a new movie, hot Tub time Machine.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: Drawda goes, Oh, what's it about? Uh?
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: This is very funny because obviously it's about a hot
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: tough time. There's no way to describe it, but hot
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: Tub time Machine.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: So when I audition for that, I did not get it.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: And I thought I always thought like being clean. I
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: was like, oh, I'm gonna get like all the you know,
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: I'm the only one clean, so like I can do
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: this stuff. And I didn't get it, and they and
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: I and I never got close with the last converstanding
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: and that that was the one that that was like
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: a one that was like it hit me and I.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: Like it hurt.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: It really hurt because you just think like, all right,
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna go on this show, I'm gonna do this.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: You kind of get your career kind of mapped out
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: a little bit. You think all this stuff's gonna happen,
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: and then it just doesn't happen.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: Another But man, when it, you know, when it, when
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: you're in it, you're like, what am I doing?
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: Dude? Like it's so frustrating.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Yeah, then our last one drunkest you've ever been were
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: the scariest.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: You seat you up and you're like, man, I gotta
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: fucking correct.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: You wake up in that shay, you have to dim
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: the lights, get a quill and some ink out, dude,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: and write some free hand poetry while the candles are lit.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: That type of stuff. Uh.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: I mean some of this I've talked about on my
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: in my act. So usually anything that I've already talked about,
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: it was uh. I mean one was at h I
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: guess an Indian casino or Native American casino.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: Uh canceled Washing Football team casinos Washington Football.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: Why didn't they keep Washington Football? I know it's such
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: a good name and the commanders a good Washington football.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: I was like, you may just think, well every team
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: we should be the Tennessee football team.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, stupid makes it easy. Yeah.
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: But so I went to that and I remember it
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: was like three hour drive from Phoenix, and so I
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: was out in Arizona. I drove to this casino to
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: do this little one night er. I mean, this is
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: you know, I'm nobody making no money talking stickers.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: Uh. I wish this was not even that.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: This was I think I did some other kind of
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: it was like a it was something I was making
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty dollars. But it was like, you
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: know what, I'll just go drive to the middle of nowhere,
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: Arizona and then go back to Phoenix and then fly home.
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: So I go out and I was like, oh, it'll
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: be fun, and uh, you know, I'm thinking, like I'll
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: just go to bed early, get up, have a nice
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: drive back because I'm like, I'm not gonna be hanging
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: out with anybody. And then so we get doing the
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: show that I'm ma on, Likexino. Then you just end
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: up meeting like some fun dudes. And next thing you know,
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: it's like it's five in the morning and I'm just
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: trying to go to bed. I gotta get up at
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: like eight to drive three hours back. So I get
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: up and I'm driving back and I mean, I'm so
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: I feel so awful and uh and when I and
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: I have this in my joke, I walked out at
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: the casino and there's like wolf like uh, and this
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: really happened. There's a wolf like in my path to
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: go to my car in the parking lot and just
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: sitting there staring at me. And I was like, uh,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: you know, like I don't know what this is. Like
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: it made me really dude, and I swear it was
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: a wolf. And so I was like this is insane,
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: you know, because I was like, I don't you know
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: what is that?
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: Is it a wolf? Is it the guy I hung
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: out with last night? I don't know?
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: And so I went, yeah, he turned into a wolf,
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: and now he's like, good day, sir.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: So I just went back inside and I remember I
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: just rolled my stuff back in the casino and I
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: just stood there. I'm not talking to anybody, like it's
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: and I just kind of stood inside for a second,
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: and then I went back out and then the wolf
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: was gone. And so then I went to my car
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: and then I drove back and uh. And then when
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: I was driving back, Uh, I'm in the I mean
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: the middle of nowhere, Arizona, just on a road alone,
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: and a helicopter lands in front of me and picks
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: up like a life support some guy on the side
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: of the road and then takes him and flies and
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: I have to wait for that to happen, and so
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: and I'm so hungover that I'm.
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: Like annoy it.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I'm like, here we go, like you know, I mean,
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: I've never had to stop for helicopter in my life.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: I don't expect to ever do it ever again.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: And I handled that moment hungover, just like and want
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: look at this every day, every day, every helicopter every
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: day there goes every day. Look I'm not I should
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: have video of this, I should have pictures. I didn't
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: do any of that. I just was like, hey, well,
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: I was like, can I get around him? Like it's
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: a hell. I mean, he's just in the middle of that.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: There's no buildings, there's just me, this helic there's five
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: us and it's the helicopter people, that guy and me
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: and uh. And then finally it took off and I
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: kept driving and so that was like that was a
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: tough one.
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: That was where all that happened.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: I I think, so, I really, yeah, cause it was
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: it was the day after.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: It feels like so far away now, but yeah, that
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: I do believe that all that stuff happened, and that
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: was stuff like when I drank like I cause I
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: talked about that my special and like uh on one
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: of my specialism. But uh it's uh yeah. Those are
