- 0:00Speaker 1: Hopefully Texas fans will not be throwing objects like Morgan
- 0:03Speaker 1: Wallen did from his bar in Nashville after the game
- 0:05Speaker 1: on Saturday, as Texas tries to bounce back from last
- 0:09Speaker 1: week's loss to Georgia, their first loss of the regular season,
- 0:13Speaker 1: losing thirty to fifteen in a game that I think
- 0:17Speaker 1: was a game of two halves first half that Texas
- 0:20Speaker 1: fans want to forget zero points on the board. Quin
- 0:23Speaker 1: viewers gets pulled in the second quarter for arch Manning
- 0:27Speaker 1: does not change the game whatsoever Texas makes makes it
- 0:31Speaker 1: a one score game. The second half came out with
- 0:34Speaker 1: two really good drives on offense, one thanks to some
- 0:38Speaker 1: sort of a squib on side kick attempt from Georgia.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Texas drives down the field, gets a stop on defense,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and then the course the Shade Barren interception that led
- 0:48Speaker 1: to the controversial defensive passing interference call was overturned after
- 0:51Speaker 1: Texas fans were bombarding the field with water bottles. But
- 0:57Speaker 1: then eventually, after it was what three fifteen, Georgia backed
- 1:02Speaker 1: up into their own end zone third and ten, Carson
- 1:05Speaker 1: Beck with probably the biggest pass of the game. He
- 1:08Speaker 1: didn't have a great game by any means no touchdowns,
- 1:10Speaker 1: three interceptions, but that got Georgia some breathing room. Of course,
- 1:14Speaker 1: they had the trick play Georgia would score their final
- 1:17Speaker 1: touchdown of the game. They get thirty to fifteen and
- 1:20Speaker 1: that was pretty much at Texas really could not sustain
- 1:23Speaker 1: any offensive success in the fourth quarter.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Like the first half of the game.
- 1:28Speaker 1: There was a fumble involved as well, and Texas ultimately
- 1:31Speaker 1: loses thirty to fifteen. Their last three drives of the game.
- 1:36Speaker 1: He had a fumble, turnover on downs, and turnover on down.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So Texas goes in this game against Vanderbilt trying the
- 1:44Speaker 1: bounce back, not just on offense but the offensive line.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I think when yours and against the venerable team that
- 1:50Speaker 1: as we know, has made some noise this season under
- 1:54Speaker 1: Clark Lee. I can't remember where they were protected the
- 1:57Speaker 1: finish in the SEC preseason poll.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I think he was bottom half of the league. In
- 2:02Speaker 2: Vanderbilt with a.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Good start, you know, upsets for Virginia Tech beats al
- 2:08Speaker 1: Corn State two and zero, and then they just have
- 2:11Speaker 1: a really nonsensical loss to Georgia State thirty six thirty two.
- 2:16Speaker 1: They comeback, they give the Missouri a great performance Missouri
- 2:20Speaker 1: at the time was ranked seventh, and that game goes
- 2:23Speaker 1: the overtime, Missouri ends up winning by a field goal.
- 2:25Speaker 1: They come back the next week beat Alabama, then they
- 2:29Speaker 1: beat Kentucky, and then they got by ball State last week,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and now they played Texas Vanderbilt. Here they are five
- 2:35Speaker 1: and two. They are two and one in the SEC
- 2:38Speaker 1: Conference play. One loss right there with Texas, Miszoo, Tennessee, Georgia,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and it feels like to get into the SEC title game.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Two losses are more in conference play and you're out.
- 2:51Speaker 1: That's what That's what appears like. It felt like Alabama
- 2:54Speaker 1: losing last with the Tennessee now means they are out
- 2:57Speaker 1: of the SEC title game. In Georgia against Texas last week,
- 3:02Speaker 1: it felt like if they lost that game, they would
- 3:05Speaker 1: be out. And I think that plays in the white.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Georgia played so well last week against Texas. I mean
- 3:10Speaker 1: it was a must win game for the Bulldogs and
- 3:11Speaker 1: they responded minorly, especially on defense. So for Vanderbilt, you know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: if they want to make the SEC title game, probably
- 3:20Speaker 1: a must win here. But they're coming into this game
- 3:23Speaker 1: Andrew with upset all on their mind, and their team
- 3:27Speaker 1: under Clark Lee, as most Texas fans already know, loves
- 3:31Speaker 1: to control time of possession. Looking back at their win
- 3:36Speaker 1: over Alabama, that upset win, Now it's a little weird
- 3:40Speaker 1: because you had Milroe throwing a pick six in that game.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You had a big fumble in the second half right
- 3:47Speaker 1: after Alabama made it a two point game, that Ventorabile
- 3:51Speaker 1: kicked a phield gold and in Alabama has it a
- 3:53Speaker 1: chance to take the lead, A big fumble there from
- 3:57Speaker 1: Jylen Milroe had two just just awful turnovers in that game.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Kind of a theme for Jal Milroll this season. But
- 4:04Speaker 1: title possession huge factor in this game. Manager first drive
- 4:08Speaker 1: of the game against Alabama, Vanderbilt went ten plays, six
- 4:11Speaker 1: minutes off the clock. Then it's the pick six in Boom,
- 4:15Speaker 1: just like that. It's already thirteen to nothing late in
- 4:19Speaker 1: the first quarter. Their second drive of the game seventeen plays,
- 4:24Speaker 1: nine minutes in fifty seconds off the clock, twenty to seven,
- 4:29Speaker 1: just like that. Now Alabama would come back in this game.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Of course, mentioned already the Milrolle fumble, and then ultimately
- 4:34Speaker 1: it was Alabama just getting not getting out of their
- 4:37Speaker 1: own way. A lot of costs penalties on that game.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You look at the first of their first drive on
- 4:45Speaker 1: off whether it was Vanderbilt's second drive on offense, they
- 4:50Speaker 1: had an illegal substitution on fourth and four automatic first down.
- 4:54Speaker 1: There was a third and eight where there was a
- 4:55Speaker 1: face mask penalty called an Alabama fifteen yards automatic first
- 4:59Speaker 1: down that came on third and eight. By the way,
- 5:01Speaker 1: Vanderbilt would later score on that drive. And then you
- 5:05Speaker 1: had some just other costume mistakes from Alabama in that game.
- 5:09Speaker 1: So the point being here is Alabama did not execute
- 5:13Speaker 1: well in that game. I don't think Texas has executed
- 5:16Speaker 1: well against Georgia. Of course, you had quin Yours with
- 5:20Speaker 1: the costly sack fumble early on in that game, which
- 5:24Speaker 1: led to Georgia's first real points in that ball game.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I mean four turnovers overall. In the stat that concerns
- 5:31Speaker 1: me is Vanderbilt is third in the country in turnovers
- 5:37Speaker 1: given up. They do not turn the ball over at all,
- 5:39Speaker 1: Texas one hundred and second. You had four against Georgia.
- 5:44Speaker 1: You had one against Oklahoma. The interception on the first
- 5:48Speaker 1: drive right where Quinn Yours just overthrew a THINGK was
- 5:51Speaker 1: Isaiah Bond In terms of interception for Billy Bowman so
- 5:56Speaker 1: two big factors in this game. I think Andrew is
- 5:59Speaker 1: in Texas execut We saw some false start penalties from
- 6:03Speaker 1: Gunnery Helm in defensive line, we saw some holding penalties.
- 6:06Speaker 1: We also just saw them not being able to execute
- 6:08Speaker 1: on third down as well as Sark wanted the offense
- 6:10Speaker 1: to do so. So the big keys in this game,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I think obviously or time of posession. Vanderbilt will control
- 6:16Speaker 1: the clock, but it's not turning. You're not compounding errors
- 6:21Speaker 1: one hundred percent.
- 6:22Speaker 3: And you mentioned that two losses in SEC play essentially
- 6:25Speaker 3: knocks you out of any SEC championship ideas if you're Vanderbilt.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Same goes for Texas. Every game now throughout the rest
- 6:33Speaker 3: of the season is a must win. And for Texas fans,
- 6:37Speaker 3: players can't think about this, Stark can't think about this,
- 6:39Speaker 3: But for the fans, you gotta keep an eye on
- 6:41Speaker 3: that LSUA and M game because if A and M
- 6:43Speaker 3: comes clean into that final game of the season, that
- 6:46Speaker 3: game turns into essentially like a de facto SEC championship game,
- 6:51Speaker 3: like that's just another playoff game on the Longhorn schedule.
- 6:55Speaker 3: You mentioned Vanderbilt. They were picked dead last CAM in
- 6:58Speaker 3: the preseason Plato. Oh God, nobody believed in this team
- 7:02Speaker 3: except for coach Lee and his players. Nobody believed in
- 7:05Speaker 3: this team. I go through the schedule before the season,
- 7:08Speaker 3: Georgia really was the only game I kind of.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Had a question mark. L next two for Texas.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Now, this game, the Longhorns have a better team on paper.
- 7:19Speaker 3: If they execute their game plan, they should win. If
- 7:22Speaker 3: Jayden Blue has the type of performance that I think
- 7:25Speaker 3: people are expecting him to have against this commodore defense,
- 7:28Speaker 3: and the Texas run game is developed in this game
- 7:32Speaker 3: prior to what they looked like last week against Georgia,
- 7:35Speaker 3: Texas should win. But again it comes back to that
- 7:37Speaker 3: time possession and turnover battle. It is going to be
- 7:39Speaker 3: a grinded out effort in Nashville for sure.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I think to your point there about if Texas just
- 7:45Speaker 1: comes out and executes and plays clean football, they should
- 7:50Speaker 1: win this game. I mean, let me ask you that
- 7:52Speaker 1: by eighteen points for a reason. Go ahead, let me
- 7:55Speaker 1: ask you this.
- 7:56Speaker 3: When have we seen Texas execute perfectly this season? Because
- 8:02Speaker 3: outside of a couple of the That's what I'm saying,
- 8:07Speaker 3: Because outside of Watchington play UTSA and run through ULM Oklahoma,
- 8:12Speaker 3: there were some hiccups.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Georgia clearly some hiccups.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So this is a game that I think before the
- 8:17Speaker 3: season you looked at and go, Okay, a tune up
- 8:19Speaker 3: game before we get into kind of the deeper sec play.
- 8:21Speaker 3: You have to come out perfect or in you're perfect
- 8:24Speaker 3: against Vanderbilt, because if you get down by ten at
- 8:27Speaker 3: any point in the second half, you might not get
- 8:29Speaker 3: those points back.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and especially with how Vanderbilt controls the clock. I
- 8:35Speaker 1: mean it's similar to Georgia where it feels like when
- 8:37Speaker 1: if you are behind my ten points against Georgia, you're screwed.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I think that goes for any team, any team the
- 8:43Speaker 1: george will play, especially with their defense and their pass rushers.
- 8:46Speaker 1: With Vanderbilt, it's more about time of possession. Now with Georgia,
- 8:52Speaker 1: they're not going to face another team as talented as
- 8:54Speaker 1: the Bulldogs until they see them again, possibly in Atlanta
- 8:57Speaker 1: or in the playoff. I mean, that was a team
- 8:59Speaker 1: that I think a lot of people maybe rode off
- 9:03Speaker 1: after Alabama and saw them struggle against Kentucky and against
- 9:08Speaker 1: Psissippi State, and there's it's.
- 9:09Speaker 2: It's not the same Georgia team, and I fall into
- 9:11Speaker 2: that trap.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But I mean, that first quarter was so weird against
- 9:13Speaker 1: Alabama where you had the Carson Beck turnover right out
- 9:18Speaker 1: of the gate mil Roe. There was a couple of
- 9:22Speaker 1: big penalties against George I think in that first drive,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and then George's pass rush was getting the mill Rolle.
- 9:27Speaker 1: But Melrolle's ability to make plays really changed that game.
- 9:30Speaker 1: All of a sudden, it's twenty eight to nothing. Now
- 9:33Speaker 1: the second half, Georgia was by far the better team.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And if you played one more quarter and they didn't,
- 9:39Speaker 1: obviously it's a four quarter game and it's georgea's fault
- 9:42Speaker 1: for coming out flat. But Georgia ends up winning that
- 9:44Speaker 1: football game. So I mean, all along, I think Georgia,
- 9:48Speaker 1: I know Oregon's one. I think Georgia is the best
- 9:50Speaker 1: team in the country after what I saw, especially when
- 9:52Speaker 1: they play like that in the way Kirby Smart schemed
- 9:54Speaker 1: up that defense. I mean, some of the looks he
- 9:57Speaker 1: was sorrowing at Quinnewers in Texas. I mean, I get it,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I get it. I mean at a lot of people
- 10:02Speaker 1: want to, you know, put a lot on quinn yours there,
- 10:05Speaker 1: but he had not seen a defense like that. I
- 10:07Speaker 1: don't think he's seen a defense like that at all
- 10:09Speaker 1: during his time at Texas, which kind of show hold on,
- 10:13Speaker 1: what about you? No, I think okay, no, no, no,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I don't think no. I think Georgia's defense, yes, for
- 10:23Speaker 1: last week, that's the best defense I think Texas has
- 10:25Speaker 1: seen in quite some time.
- 10:27Speaker 3: So I think that the best defense as well in
- 10:30Speaker 3: the country. I think that that's what Kirby Smartest hung
- 10:32Speaker 3: his hat on, is going to continue to hang his
- 10:34Speaker 3: hat on. The one thing I will say, though, the
- 10:37Speaker 3: win for Georgia has disguised how bad Carson Beck has
- 10:40Speaker 3: been this season. People are giving Quinn a lot of grief.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Quinn dealing with an injury where he's trying to rehab
- 10:47Speaker 3: back on the fly during the season. Carson Beck has
- 10:49Speaker 3: no excuses and has not looked like a projected first
- 10:52Speaker 3: round quarterback in the NFL.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Like I have not been impressed by back at all
- 10:56Speaker 2: this year.
- 10:57Speaker 1: No, I think you're right. I think if you watched
- 10:59Speaker 1: that game without a scoreboard, you just watch that. You
- 11:01Speaker 1: just watch every quarterback snap. And Todd McShay from The
- 11:05Speaker 1: Ringer Now talked about it that when he he watched
- 11:07Speaker 1: the game behind and he thought, okay, if any quarterbacks
- 11:11Speaker 1: getting benched in this game, it's Carson Beck. He I
- 11:13Speaker 1: think he was frankly awful. I was not afraid. Every
- 11:16Speaker 1: time he dropped back to throw. I was like, good,
- 11:19Speaker 1: thank you, thank you. And I thought Quinn was so
- 11:22Speaker 1: much better than the third and fourth quarter, and for
- 11:24Speaker 1: whatever reason, Texas just could not sustain success on the
- 11:27Speaker 1: last couple of drives. You know, you can point to
- 11:29Speaker 1: the pass rush from Georgia or not having Isay a bond,
- 11:33Speaker 1: But again, the key for Georgia, I think Andrew is
- 11:37Speaker 1: can they get up to a ten point fourteen point
- 11:41Speaker 1: lead and not have to rely on Carson Beck? That
- 11:44Speaker 1: that is their blueprint for success. And I can't believe it. Actually,
- 11:50Speaker 1: it makes me feel worse about Alabama because Carson Beck
- 11:54Speaker 1: threw for what four hundred yards against them, and he
- 11:56Speaker 1: threw for one hundred and forty three against Texas with
- 11:59Speaker 1: a quarterback rating of what sixty four? So hey, if
- 12:03Speaker 1: you want to look for positives from that game, it's
- 12:05Speaker 1: the Texas pass defense I think is still legit. Now
- 12:08Speaker 1: you're playing the Vanderbilt team who defensively gives up two
- 12:13Speaker 1: hundred and forty five yards through the air, ninety third
- 12:16Speaker 1: in the country.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Talk about Queen yours.
- 12:17Speaker 1: When you have a bounce back game, they do not
- 12:20Speaker 1: have the same pass rush that Georgia has. There is
- 12:23Speaker 1: no Michael Williams or Deafonte Walker coming off the edge,
- 12:26Speaker 1: So Kelvin Banks and Cam Williams can sleep a little
- 12:30Speaker 1: bit easy there. So if Texas can provide a clean
- 12:32Speaker 1: pocket for quin yours, and again we can speculate on
- 12:36Speaker 1: where he's at physically, I think maybe that plays into
- 12:40Speaker 1: a little mental side of it of just you knowing
- 12:42Speaker 1: n one hundred percent, you don't trust your body to
- 12:44Speaker 1: make the right throws. If he can, if he can
- 12:46Speaker 1: come into this game, you know, just kind of flushing
- 12:50Speaker 1: away the Georgia first half and play like the third
- 12:53Speaker 1: and fourth quarter. I think Quinn has a big game,
- 12:56Speaker 1: he bounces back in Texas gets a big win. But
- 12:59Speaker 1: as you said, Andrew, it comes down to just executing
- 13:02Speaker 1: and not turning the ball over a Texas at Vanderbilt again,
- 13:07Speaker 1: kicking off tomorrow three point fifteen. Scheduled kickoff Network coverage
