Glen Powell, star of Top Gun: Maverick, is taking on the legendary role of Lou Gehrig in a new biopic directed by Richard Linklater — a reunion of sorts, since they previously collaborated on Everybody Wants Some!! The script, penned by Simon Rich and produced by Lorne Michaels (a die-hard Yankees fan), will chronicle Gehrig’s incredible baseball career, including his record-breaking 2,130 consecutive games, six World Series titles, and MVP honors — all before his tragic diagnosis with ALS at age 37.
