- 0:29What is going on, everybody?
- 0:30Welcome to Class Domini Roundtable.
- 0:32We've already got Kenneth
- 0:34and Corey and Jake in the chat.
- 0:36Good to see you all.
- 0:37And Kat's with us.
- 0:40She is.
- 0:41I am surprised, surprised.
- 0:44Yeah, it didn't last very long, so.
- 0:48Oh,
- 0:48you actually had your meeting and it's
- 0:50already over?
- 0:50I did and it was over, yeah.
- 0:52You never really know.
- 0:55Yeah.
- 0:55Yeah.
- 0:56Well, before we jump into too much stuff,
- 0:58we have a new sponsor.
- 0:59See at the bottom of the screen, thick boy,
- 1:02thick boy apparel.
- 1:03I'm wearing a thick boy
- 1:05sweatshirt right now.
- 1:07And Amy,
- 1:07I'm going to drop yours off tonight.
- 1:09Cool.
- 1:11They're sitting in my dining room,
- 1:12yours and Charlie's and Kat's.
- 1:14I just need to mail Kat's out and get you,
- 1:16Charlie, and yours.
- 1:18I had my thick boy summer
- 1:21sweatshirt on this morning,
- 1:22but it's very hot where I am today.
- 1:24So I took it off, but it's so cute.
- 1:25I love it.
- 1:27Yeah, I love their stuff.
- 1:30And yeah,
- 1:30they're going to be with us at
- 1:31least for a few months
- 1:32through the season.
- 1:33And we're super excited about that.
- 1:36And they're going to start
- 1:37carrying Clydesdale Media
- 1:39merch on their website.
- 1:41So they're starting with
- 1:42tanks and t-shirts.
- 1:45It'll be the horse logo to start.
- 1:47And they will come in purple, gray,
- 1:50and our blue.
- 1:51Awesome.
- 1:55no more black because the
- 1:57new logo is all black.
- 1:59So we're just going to start
- 2:00getting some colors into this thing.
- 2:01And I knew Amy would want purple.
- 2:04So I, I mean,
- 2:05you're speaking my language right there.
- 2:07Same.
- 2:07That's my favorite color.
- 2:09I'm rewatching breaking bad right now.
- 2:11And yeah,
- 2:13Marie Marie purple is her favorite color.
- 2:15Yeah.
- 2:16Every time they cut to her.
- 2:17I love it.
- 2:18I did some research about that.
- 2:21Oh yeah.
- 2:21Was there some hidden meaning?
- 2:22I think that there could be
- 2:23because it's loyalty.
- 2:25Purple is a loyal color.
- 2:27Okay.
- 2:28So, but yeah, everything was purple.
- 2:30Purple and yellow and
- 2:32accessorized with yellow.
- 2:33Yeah.
- 2:35What a great series.
- 2:36I miss that show.
- 2:37It's so good.
- 2:39It's funny too.
- 2:40I saw it when it originally came out,
- 2:42I guess.
- 2:42I think I binge watched it
- 2:43like once it was almost over.
- 2:46But I don't remember everything.
- 2:47I mean, I remember big chunks,
- 2:49but I'm still at the edge
- 2:50of my seat every time.
- 2:51I'm always like, Oh,
- 2:52what's going to happen?
- 2:53So it's kind of fun to watch again.
- 2:54Cause I,
- 2:55it's like I've watched it for
- 2:57watching it for the first time.
- 2:58Yeah.
- 2:59Julie,
- 2:59Julie didn't watch it with me the
- 3:00last time she wants to watch it now.
- 3:03So I think we're going to go
- 3:04through it again.
- 3:04So we're going to call Saul.
- 3:07No, never watched some of it.
- 3:10You have to get through the
- 3:11first two seasons and then
- 3:12it's as good as breaking bad.
- 3:14Is it really?
- 3:15Yeah.
- 3:16Okay, good.
- 3:19Good, good, good.
- 3:21So it's been a crazy week.
- 3:25I want to start off with some good news.
- 3:27I don't know if you guys saw this,
- 3:29but friends of the show,
- 3:32Dan and Alex Bailey,
- 3:35Alex had their twins.
- 3:38And I put the picture up
- 3:39just to confirm it doesn't have a mullet.
- 3:43They weren't fitted for a frame t-shirts.
- 3:45Danny bro flex that gene
- 3:47must not have been passed on.
- 3:50No.
- 3:52But super excited for them.
- 3:55I guess it was not an easy labor, but she,
- 4:00Alex hung in there and gave
- 4:02birth late last week to
- 4:06Hayden and Addison Bailey.
- 4:09So congrats to them.
- 4:14um I haven't got your your
- 4:15guys's perspective why does
- 4:17it go back to that when I i
- 4:19don't know yeah uh well I
- 4:20haven't got your
- 4:21perspective on the
- 4:21penalties well I watched
- 4:27dave's week in review that
- 4:30was did you watch it to see
- 4:32him talking about it I did okay
- 4:36So that's interesting.
- 4:39Um, I,
- 4:40I can hear what he's saying and that
- 4:41already sounds like they're
- 4:42making changes for next year.
- 4:50Yeah, I don't.
- 4:51Yeah, sure.
- 4:54But I know in our text string,
- 4:56one of the things I was
- 4:57talking about was I was
- 5:00curious about what does
- 5:02that review process look like?
- 5:03Like when when they're watching the videos,
- 5:06do they just watch it straight through?
- 5:08Do they slow it down?
- 5:09Do they freeze it?
- 5:10Do they go back?
- 5:12Because that to me is
- 5:12completely different versus, you know,
- 5:15being in.
- 5:17live competition.
- 5:18You can't go back and re-watch footage,
- 5:21at least in this sport.
- 5:23Different, obviously, in other sports.
- 5:27So that is kind of bothersome to me.
- 5:31And if they just do watch it through,
- 5:33then cool.
- 5:34But it seems like, wait, did I see that?
- 5:37Was that a no rep or not?
- 5:38I'm curious what those
- 5:40standards are for them on reviewing.
- 5:44Kat,
- 5:44I think you're probably best qualified to
- 5:46Yeah.
- 5:46I mean,
- 5:47I can only speak to how video
- 5:48review for CrossFit has
- 5:50been done in the past.
- 5:52I have no idea.
- 5:53It could be a thousand
- 5:54percent different this year.
- 5:55Um, and I,
- 5:57and it's been several years
- 5:58since I was on that team
- 5:59reviewing videos.
- 6:01Um,
- 6:01but the way it worked back then was
- 6:03you'd get assigned, um, an age group or a,
- 6:06you know, open or men or, you know,
- 6:1050 to 54 males, whatever it was.
- 6:13Um,
- 6:13And we would all, and when I say we,
- 6:15I mean, you know,
- 6:16the same batch of people
- 6:17that are judging at
- 6:19semifinals and at the games
- 6:22and probably lesser
- 6:24qualified judges as well,
- 6:26not just those sort of higher level folks,
- 6:28but because, you know,
- 6:29you need a lot of resources.
- 6:32We would go through the videos and
- 6:35from my perspective,
- 6:36I would go through like a,
- 6:37just a perfunctory review, you know,
- 6:39did they say all the things,
- 6:40did they get the measurements right?
- 6:42Did they do all the, you know,
- 6:44they do the workout in the
- 6:45right order kind of a thing.
- 6:46Um,
- 6:48and oftentimes that would be done like
- 6:49at a faster speed just
- 6:50because we had so many to get through.
- 6:52Um, but if there was,
- 6:54if there were things that
- 6:55were chronic that you would
- 6:56notice that weren't happening,
- 6:58once you get back to the
- 6:58beginning and do it on, you know,
- 7:00real time and you start
- 7:01counting reps and things.
- 7:02And if you see stuff that's weird,
- 7:04you know,
- 7:05you can flag it as needs
- 7:07additional review and then
- 7:08write your notes about what
- 7:10you thought was wrong with
- 7:11the workout or the performance,
- 7:14if you will.
- 7:14And then at that point in time,
- 7:16it would get reviewed by a
- 7:17second level of person.
- 7:19And I actually complained
- 7:20the one year that I did it
- 7:21because I saw major
- 7:22penalties that I would
- 7:24report that never got reported.
- 7:27You know,
- 7:27I remember one time like talking
- 7:29to or reviewing
- 7:31remember that workout with
- 7:32the dumbbells where you
- 7:33were like right under the
- 7:33rig and it was like
- 7:34dumbbell somethings and
- 7:35then toe to bar and jump rope.
- 7:38And it was like a, you know, an AMRAP.
- 7:40And I remember somebody's,
- 7:42somebody's boyfriend was
- 7:43like moving their dumbbells
- 7:45every time after their rounds.
- 7:47And I got so mad, like,
- 7:48cause you're not allowed to have help,
- 7:51you know, during the, during the workout.
- 7:52And I had reported that and
- 7:54nothing happened.
- 7:55Like that person didn't get
- 7:57a penalty or whatever.
- 7:58So,
- 7:59I think it depends on who's reviewing,
- 8:01you know, how how strict they're being.
- 8:04But I would imagine that
- 8:05there are some folks, at least,
- 8:07like I said, back when I did it,
- 8:09there were people that
- 8:11could have had major penalties.
- 8:13But if that first line
- 8:14review didn't catch it,
- 8:17nobody else would be looking at it.
- 8:18Right.
- 8:18And you could sort of go through and flat,
- 8:20you know, and say, yep, approved,
- 8:21approved, approved.
- 8:22I don't know what the
- 8:23quality control was on the
- 8:24back end for someone to go back and say,
- 8:26okay, well,
- 8:26Kat approved all of her things.
- 8:28Do we really know that she
- 8:29did a good job approving those or not?
- 8:31Who knows?
- 8:34And, you know,
- 8:35you get some people that are
- 8:36in that role that are super
- 8:38nitpicky and they want
- 8:40every single one of their
- 8:41videos to get reviewed by
- 8:42someone else because this
- 8:44isn't right or that isn't right.
- 8:45And it's very subjective, right?
- 8:47I mean,
- 8:48I've been no repping people forever
- 8:51on air squats,
- 8:53for not fully extending at
- 8:55the top of an air squat, you know,
- 8:56you're sort of like your
- 8:58legs are straight and your,
- 8:59and your hips are kind of open,
- 9:00but you're like leaning forward, right?
- 9:01You're not standing all the way up.
- 9:03Your shoulders aren't
- 9:04stacked with your hips.
- 9:06I've done that in person too.
- 9:07And it hasn't really been upheld.
- 9:09So I see that sort of like
- 9:11the step up full extension types issue.
- 9:15And I know I've done step
- 9:17ups before where I have felt in my head,
- 9:20That I am standing all the
- 9:20way up and I've seen video
- 9:22of myself and I am nowhere
- 9:23near standing up like with
- 9:26my hips not completely open.
- 9:27So I understand, you know,
- 9:29how that could happen.
- 9:31I didn't review videos this year.
- 9:33No,
- 9:33I think probably 19 or 20 was the last
- 9:35time I reviewed videos for the games.
- 9:38Yeah, and she prefaced this, Jeff,
- 9:40with... Yeah, like I said,
- 9:41don't know how it's done now.
- 9:42Today's policy is,
- 9:44this is what she did when
- 9:45she was doing it in 19 or 20.
- 9:48But I could see other people's review.
- 9:50And, you know, there would be people on...
- 9:53on the staff that you knew
- 9:54they were going to flag
- 9:55every single one of their videos.
- 9:57And I don't know if it's
- 9:57because they needed to like
- 9:58prove their worth that they
- 9:59were actually looking at stuff and like,
- 10:01Hey, I found this and Hey, I found that.
- 10:03Or what?
- 10:04And so I don't know if you
- 10:05got 50 judges first round
- 10:07this time around that were
- 10:08like that person that
- 10:09wanted to check everything.
- 10:10And they all of a sudden had
- 10:11all this stuff to review and they thought,
- 10:13Hmm,
- 10:13maybe we should be looking at this a
- 10:15little more closely or what,
- 10:17but things escalated quickly.
- 10:20I get the not extending on top of the box,
- 10:23like with your knees, hips and all that,
- 10:24but what's the thought
- 10:26process about the neck or head?
- 10:29So I think that that's fake news.
- 10:31Okay.
- 10:31Okay.
- 10:33Every video I've seen that got dinged.
- 10:35Yeah.
- 10:36Had nothing to do with the
- 10:36neck and the head.
- 10:37Okay.
- 10:38Okay.
- 10:39So where did that even come from?
- 10:43So I'm going to share my screen,
- 10:45get with the programming
- 10:45posted this on IgE today.
- 10:48Um, and it,
- 10:49and it's a big question I have.
- 10:52Um,
- 10:54if athletes really think they're
- 10:56getting screwed,
- 10:56why aren't they making
- 10:57their videos public for everyone to see?
- 10:59Hmm.
- 11:01So as long as we can't see them,
- 11:04they can say whatever about it.
- 11:07That they said my head
- 11:08wasn't in line or my whatever.
- 11:12Everybody who has made theirs public,
- 11:14it's been soft knees or
- 11:17they were bent over at the top.
- 11:20And it's like I said,
- 11:21it's just a it's a thing.
- 11:22It's super common.
- 11:24I see it all the time in in
- 11:25in-person competitions, too.
- 11:27And we as judges don't
- 11:28always hold the standard for that.
- 11:32I've seen it before or I've
- 11:34called it on everybody and everyone that,
- 11:36you know,
- 11:36no one wants my lane because I'm
- 11:38the only one that's calling it.
- 11:39Right.
- 11:40Right.
- 11:42If you look at Pat Vellner's video,
- 11:44who I think is a great mover.
- 11:46his non-working leg so the
- 11:50is soft on almost every rep
- 11:55yeah and I would have
- 11:56called it like I don't I
- 11:58don't think it was like on
- 12:00the line it was pretty
- 12:02obvious that he did not
- 12:03extend that leg yeah and
- 12:06when and if you're in
- 12:07person you know you're no
- 12:09wrapping that once and then
- 12:10you're fixing it
- 12:13And it's probably not
- 12:15impacting your time or your
- 12:17score if you had to keep the standard.
- 12:21You know what I mean?
- 12:21Like Pat's not going that
- 12:24much slower or any slower
- 12:26at all if he's doing the
- 12:27full range of motion.
- 12:28Yeah, it's not saving him time to do that.
- 12:31Yeah.
- 12:33Which is why, you know,
- 12:34it's not like he's trying to cheat.
- 12:37And I will say, though,
- 12:38also on the snatches, I mean,
- 12:40I see that all the time on
- 12:41a regular basis.
- 12:43People start bending their arms.
- 12:45Or just even on like if
- 12:47you're doing hang cleans or something,
- 12:48I see people start bringing
- 12:49it back down before they've
- 12:50come up to full extension.
- 12:52I remember at Granite Games,
- 12:53Ben Smith was yelling at me
- 12:55because I was no repping
- 12:56him on his muscle ups
- 12:57because he was like
- 12:58re-gripping before he would press out.
- 13:00And you weren't allowed to do that.
- 13:01It was super slight,
- 13:03but he couldn't stand me that day.
- 13:07And it's Ben Smith.
- 13:08You know we can do it right.
- 13:11So after all this noise,
- 13:13I keep going through to make sure,
- 13:15but I think there's only
- 13:16four former games athletes
- 13:18that are not going to
- 13:20semifinals because of this.
- 13:23It seems like because the
- 13:24numbers are so huge.
- 13:26Yeah, it's a handful.
- 13:27Yeah.
- 13:28Right, but it's Paige Powers, Nick Matthew,
- 13:33Sam Stewart, and Sidney Wells.
- 13:36And Paige is the only person
- 13:38to ever finish in the top 10.
- 13:40Nick Matthew's highest finish was 15th.
- 13:44And Sidney was like 28th,
- 13:46and Sam Stewart was 37th.
- 13:47So maybe, is it possible that...
- 13:54that these judging decisions
- 13:57were correct and the right
- 14:00people did make it through.
- 14:01Yeah, I hope so.
- 14:05I just hope that there
- 14:07aren't people out there
- 14:09from 30th place to 40th
- 14:11place that are getting in
- 14:13that also maybe should have
- 14:16gotten penalized that didn't.
- 14:19Yeah.
- 14:19I don't, you know, from what I heard,
- 14:21they did that.
- 14:22If you ever were in the top 60 or 80,
- 14:25it's one of those numbers.
- 14:27Yeah.
- 14:29Right.
- 14:29But again, you know,
- 14:32if there were tears to how
- 14:34things were judged,
- 14:35did somebody get a judge
- 14:36that just sort of approved everything?
- 14:39you know,
- 14:40cause when you're doing these
- 14:41video reviews,
- 14:41like you're sitting in front of the TV,
- 14:43you got your box of pretzels,
- 14:45you got your earphones.
- 14:46You don't know if the dog's running around,
- 14:47if the kids are bugging you,
- 14:48like there's lots going on.
- 14:49It's not just, and you know,
- 14:53I'm not saying that people
- 14:54aren't taking it seriously
- 14:56and doing their jobs,
- 14:56but you could have gotten a
- 14:57judge or two that looked
- 14:59through the video review
- 15:00and was just like, yep, yep, we're good.
- 15:02And then,
- 15:02and then no one's doing any QC behind it.
- 15:04And again, don't know if that's the case.
- 15:06I could be completely wrong, but
- 15:09Yeah.
- 15:09Like what's the review
- 15:10process for the reviewers?
- 15:12Yeah.
- 15:13Yeah.
- 15:14And,
- 15:14and the fact that there's no transparency,
- 15:16I think is the problem.
- 15:17Like I think if everyone
- 15:18understood what the process
- 15:20was and who the people were
- 15:22and what their credentials
- 15:23were and things like that,
- 15:24I think they'd have a
- 15:24little more faith in the system,
- 15:26but because it's not
- 15:28publicized for whatever reason.
- 15:32Cause you know,
- 15:33cause people would complain
- 15:33about it and criticize it
- 15:34and poke holes in it and
- 15:35say it's terrible or whatever,
- 15:36but it would be great if at least,
- 15:38We knew what it was.
- 15:40I don't,
- 15:40I don't see why it has to be so
- 15:41secretive.
- 15:44So Sunday night,
- 15:46Carolyn said like she did that workout,
- 15:49looked at the video herself and said,
- 15:51that doesn't look right.
- 15:52And said, I need to redo it.
- 15:56So you do have that option too.
- 15:58This is videoed.
- 15:59You have,
- 16:00I'm sure you have people in your
- 16:01camp that are willing to
- 16:02look at your video and say, Hey,
- 16:04that looks good.
- 16:04Or it doesn't look good.
- 16:06Go ahead and submit.
- 16:08Yeah.
- 16:08Right.
- 16:09And to Jeff's question, again,
- 16:11if it's organized the way
- 16:12it's been organized in the past,
- 16:13you get a certain group
- 16:15that's looking at a certain region.
- 16:17And so if we're talking
- 16:19subjectivity and you're talking about,
- 16:21you know,
- 16:21somebody that is really looking
- 16:24at things more closely than
- 16:25others and flagging more
- 16:27videos than others,
- 16:31you could have different
- 16:32regions being judged differently.
- 16:35So it's kind of like the luck of the draw.
- 16:36Who did you get?
- 16:37And yes,
- 16:38there have been times that I have
- 16:39slowed down videos to like
- 16:42the millisecond,
- 16:43to the frame by frame by
- 16:44frame to see what's going on for sure.
- 16:48Yeah.
- 16:52I still think that a bigger
- 16:55deal was made of this than
- 16:56probably it actually was.
- 16:59But I think,
- 17:00and we talked about this the other night,
- 17:02like Kelly Stone,
- 17:04she shared her email from
- 17:05CrossFit that they
- 17:07explained to her her appeal
- 17:09and why it was denied and said,
- 17:12go to rep six.
- 17:14That's what we're looking for.
- 17:16Well, on her Instagram,
- 17:17the only rep she showed to
- 17:20prove that she was good was rep six.
- 17:24You can hear her judge yell six.
- 17:29Got it.
- 17:30So how do I know that what
- 17:33you're using is evidence to
- 17:35say that CrossFit did you wrong?
- 17:37You're using the rep they said was good.
- 17:41Yeah.
- 17:41Yeah.
- 17:44And nobody's making their videos public.
- 17:48But let's celebrate the
- 17:49positive that we talked about.
- 17:51Who did make it through?
- 17:53As safe?
- 17:58Annika.
- 18:00Oh, I know.
- 18:01Thank God.
- 18:01Annika.
- 18:05She and I were going back
- 18:06and forth yesterday on Instagram.
- 18:07I sent her a DM and I was like,
- 18:08are you officially good to go?
- 18:10Like final, final.
- 18:11And she's like, Oh my God, what did,
- 18:13did you hear something?
- 18:14She thought I was like
- 18:15trying to warn her that
- 18:16something was wrong.
- 18:17I'm like, no, no.
- 18:18I just, before I congratulate you,
- 18:19I wanted to make sure.
- 18:20Yeah.
- 18:21Yeah.
- 18:22So something funny happened
- 18:22to me last night.
- 18:23I get, I,
- 18:25I reposted CrossFit's thread that
- 18:29said leaderboard is closed.
- 18:32Yeah.
- 18:33Whatever.
- 18:34I get a text from Emily Rolfe.
- 18:37Is it really?
- 18:38Because I still have a video
- 18:39that's not been validated.
- 18:41I am not an official from CrossFit HQ.
- 18:46I cannot verify that.
- 18:50But I'm assuming if it's closed,
- 18:52they're done reviewing.
- 18:53Yeah.
- 18:56And what I've kind of heard
- 18:57through the grapevine today
- 18:58is that CrossFit didn't
- 19:01review all of three and four,
- 19:03and you may have one that's
- 19:04not validated because they
- 19:05didn't review it.
- 19:12Oh, so there's still a appeal,
- 19:17but it's been finalized?
- 19:20Well, Rosecott just got dinged on Sunday.
- 19:23Okay.
- 19:23Okay.
- 19:24And a pretty major penalty.
- 19:26So,
- 19:29and I don't know where she is in the
- 19:30appeal process.
- 19:31I would just be guessing, but it has been,
- 19:37I do believe in the past
- 19:38CrossFit has said
- 19:39leaderboards closed and
- 19:40then made a decision after.
- 19:41It's never really,
- 19:44it's never really close.
- 19:45Just when everyone gets to the venue,
- 19:49then we know it's official.
- 19:50you know, I mean, we,
- 19:52this season has been so wild.
- 19:54We don't know.
- 19:54There could be a wild card.
- 20:01Charlie, I'm going to invite you.
- 20:06So, so talk about judging cat.
- 20:08You received an email yesterday.
- 20:10I did.
- 20:10Yeah.
- 20:11It was kind of, kind of like an invite.
- 20:13Um,
- 20:16it looks like they're only
- 20:17taking 30 volunteer judges
- 20:19for the CrossFit games this year,
- 20:22as opposed to, uh,
- 20:25the very lots and lots that
- 20:26they had before.
- 20:27So traditionally, um,
- 20:29we'll call us civilian
- 20:31judges or non seminar staff judges,
- 20:33volunteer judges, um,
- 20:35typically did in years past.
- 20:37Let's talking like from like
- 20:3927 prior to 2019 when they
- 20:42had 8,000 people from every country come,
- 20:44um,
- 20:46We,
- 20:46the volunteer judges would just do
- 20:48teams and age groups, mostly age groups.
- 20:51And then like the higher
- 20:53echelon of those volunteer
- 20:54judges would get to do
- 20:55teams and never individual.
- 20:58And then once the field grew
- 21:01that one year when we
- 21:02brought all the national
- 21:03champions and things like that,
- 21:04there were a group of
- 21:06volunteer judges that got
- 21:07to do individual.
- 21:09And then there'd be a group for team.
- 21:11I was on the group for team.
- 21:12And then there was a group for age groups.
- 21:14And it was, I don't know the numbers,
- 21:16but I gotta say it's like,
- 21:18it was in the 50, 60, 70 range,
- 21:20like a lot of people volunteering.
- 21:24And then as you know, this year,
- 21:26we saw a bunch of very high
- 21:29level volunteer judges or a
- 21:30lot of like the directors
- 21:32and things like that,
- 21:34that were doing individual judging.
- 21:36And then most of the, most of the
- 21:39Again,
- 21:39I think that's just a resource issue.
- 21:41I don't think there are a
- 21:41ton of seminar staff
- 21:43members that we're judging
- 21:44this past year.
- 21:46So yeah,
- 21:47so we got an email saying that
- 21:48there were going to be 30.
- 21:49It was from a guy,
- 21:51a seminar staff person that runs Rogue.
- 21:55So he sent it to like the
- 21:56folks that I guess have
- 21:57done the games before,
- 21:58been on his team or whoever, and said,
- 22:00if you're interested,
- 22:01reply to this email and let
- 22:02me know ASAP because we're going to
- 22:05create a group out of this.
- 22:06I think they're going to
- 22:07take 30 confirmed and then
- 22:08keep 10 as alternates.
- 22:10And those volunteers will
- 22:12only be needed for Thursday and Friday.
- 22:15They won't be needed for
- 22:16Saturday and Sunday.
- 22:17So it sounds like they'll be on teams,
- 22:20I'm assuming,
- 22:21or not a bunch of the stuff
- 22:23that's going to be
- 22:23highlighted over the weekend.
- 22:25And that those volunteers
- 22:26will have access to the venue,
- 22:27limited access to the venue
- 22:29after the fact,
- 22:30so on Saturday and Sunday.
- 22:32You know,
- 22:32not like butts in seats necessarily,
- 22:35but some general admission
- 22:36access to the event, which is nice.
- 22:40And they'll get their swag
- 22:40and all that kind of stuff,
- 22:41but a much smaller group
- 22:42than they've used in the past.
- 22:44Just to let you know,
- 22:45because you weren't at the
- 22:45games last year,
- 22:46that same person was head
- 22:47of the logistics of the
- 22:49judging last year.
- 22:50Okay, yeah.
- 22:51At the games as well.
- 22:53So he did get that job.
- 22:55I don't think,
- 22:56he was never on the floor like Boz was.
- 22:59Yeah, I mean,
- 22:59he's always been part of the games too,
- 23:01like running teams and things like that.
- 23:05What I find fascinating is
- 23:06this used to be an open call.
- 23:09Yeah.
- 23:09Now it's invite only.
- 23:11And people with the tinfoil hats,
- 23:14there were people that believed that
- 23:16Athletes got judged a
- 23:18certain way if they had an
- 23:20AFJ judge or not.
- 23:23Oh yeah.
- 23:24And it looks like this, like,
- 23:27let's be honest, Kat,
- 23:28you have not judged in a
- 23:29couple of years and you're
- 23:32on this invite to, to go to the games.
- 23:37Do you think that they are
- 23:39trying not to have certain people on?
- 23:42No,
- 23:42I think it's probably just an
- 23:44administrative error on the
- 23:45part of the person that
- 23:46didn't realize that I've
- 23:48been out of the game for quite some time.
- 23:49Um, but, uh, no, I think, you know,
- 23:52I think at one point in time,
- 23:54I was part of that core group that,
- 23:56that eventually became the AFJ.
- 23:58Um, I am not part of the AFJ, um,
- 24:00nor was I ever asked to be on the AFJ.
- 24:03Um,
- 24:03not to say that I would or wouldn't have,
- 24:05if I had been asked, but, um,
- 24:07Yeah, I don't know.
- 24:08That's a good question.
- 24:09I'm pretty sure that, you know,
- 24:10like all the usual suspects
- 24:11and all the folks that I
- 24:12judged rogue at rogue with
- 24:14are probably on that list.
- 24:17It's true.
- 24:18Corey.
- 24:19Yes.
- 24:19Have you heard from people?
- 24:20Because I am really curious to know that.
- 24:24I haven't.
- 24:24I did.
- 24:25I did see something.
- 24:26Somebody posted something in
- 24:28one of the Facebook groups that said like,
- 24:30Hey guys,
- 24:30I looked on the games website
- 24:32for volunteers and judges
- 24:33isn't an option.
- 24:34And then someone was kind of coy and wrote,
- 24:37hey,
- 24:38they're doing it differently this year.
- 24:39Stay close to your email.
- 24:41So the person that posted
- 24:42that obviously didn't get
- 24:42the email and the original
- 24:45post and the person that
- 24:45probably sent that
- 24:46suggestion probably did get the email.
- 24:48And that person,
- 24:49I didn't recognize that person's name.
- 24:51So who knows?
- 24:54And I'd be very surprised if
- 24:56I was selected to go to the
- 24:58games just based on my
- 24:59tenure and what I do now
- 25:01and everything else.
- 25:01But
- 25:02I put my hat in the ring anyway,
- 25:03cause I would love to go.
- 25:05In Dave's week in review,
- 25:07he said that they needed to
- 25:08do something about having
- 25:10more standardized judging at the semi,
- 25:12at the quarterfinal level.
- 25:16But he, in that statement, he said,
- 25:17not like an organization, just.
- 25:19Oh yeah.
- 25:22So I don't know.
- 25:23I haven't talked to like
- 25:24Jules or anybody to see if
- 25:25those guys are part of it.
- 25:26I can't imagine that they
- 25:27would cut those people out though.
- 25:31I'd be surprised.
- 25:32I'd be, I'd be shocked if they did.
- 25:33Uh,
- 25:35it's not the first time CrossFit is
- 25:37entered into a pissing
- 25:38contest with a group.
- 25:40I mean, I was,
- 25:41I was kind of hoping that
- 25:42this whole thing, you know,
- 25:44I feel bad for the AFJ folks that were,
- 25:47you know, at these camps and, you know,
- 25:50thinking they were doing a
- 25:51great job of holding the
- 25:51standard when in fact
- 25:53CrossFit came back and said, Oh,
- 25:54actually no.
- 25:55Um,
- 25:56That kind of sucks for them.
- 25:58I feel bad.
- 25:59It feels like a slap in the
- 26:00face from CrossFit,
- 26:01which I hope is just a
- 26:03coincidence and not an actual thing.
- 26:07Yeah,
- 26:07there has been speculation that it
- 26:09wasn't coincidence.
- 26:11And I don't know that.
- 26:15I mean,
- 26:15it's all speculation at this point.
- 26:18Yeah,
- 26:18now I'm afraid to reach out to anybody.
- 26:20Oh, no.
- 26:25I guess we'll see soon enough.
- 26:27Yeah,
- 26:27and that's one of the things Dave was
- 26:28talking about, about the standardized,
- 26:30like saying like maybe not
- 26:31having your husband judge
- 26:32you or like maybe going to...
- 26:37different and the problem
- 26:40too with the you know that
- 26:41group of judges it's so
- 26:42small and they they are
- 26:43really really good but they
- 26:45definitely have like
- 26:46personal relationships with
- 26:48the athletes just because
- 26:50it's such a small sport and
- 26:51they've been doing it for
- 26:52so long and um you know
- 26:55kudos to them for staying
- 26:56impartial because that's
- 26:57not the easiest thing to do
- 27:00I could not judge anymore I could not
- 27:03Yeah.
- 27:03See, I totally could.
- 27:06Yeah.
- 27:06But you're hard.
- 27:07I'm not.
- 27:10I like to hold the standard for sure.
- 27:11I remember the, the,
- 27:13the person I remember being
- 27:15the best mover of anyone
- 27:16that I've ever judged.
- 27:19I'll throw some tea now.
- 27:21Brent Fikowski, the best, the best.
- 27:24And I even said to him afterwards,
- 27:25I was like, you were so easy to judge.
- 27:27And he's like, well,
- 27:27I want your job to be easy too.
- 27:29Like, I don't want to get in a rut.
- 27:31I've never had to give him a no rep.
- 27:33And I will tell you that
- 27:36who's the French guy?
- 27:38Willie George was very mean
- 27:42to me at Rogue when I was
- 27:43no repping him on his front
- 27:45rack position for kettlebell thrusters.
- 27:47He was not nice at all.
- 27:49And that was in 2019.
- 27:51And I have not gotten over that yet.
- 27:53I still don't like him.
- 27:55Just saying.
- 27:56Yeah,
- 27:57the best mover I ever judged was Saxon.
- 27:59Yeah, I would imagine he's good.
- 28:01And then I got in a really
- 28:02big fight almost with Joey Toto.
- 28:04I think I've told this story
- 28:05before at Granite Games
- 28:06where he was on a team and
- 28:08one of his teammates...
- 28:09had to drop the sandbag and
- 28:10like go to the end of the thing.
- 28:11But I stopped her in the
- 28:13middle of the run and made
- 28:14like to make her move the sandbag,
- 28:15but she didn't really have
- 28:16to move the sandbag.
- 28:17So it was kind of my fault.
- 28:18And then everyone was
- 28:20screaming and yelling at me
- 28:21and it didn't make a
- 28:21difference because they won
- 28:22and they went to the games anyway.
- 28:23But that was a tenuous
- 28:26moment for all of us.
- 28:28He was very apologetic afterwards,
- 28:29but I understand how mad he was.
- 28:32I know repped 20 wall balls.
- 28:37on the quarterfinal workout just recently.
- 28:40Oh no.
- 28:41I had to, I had to no rep.
- 28:43Yeah.
- 28:44It wasn't depth either.
- 28:45It was like hitting it on
- 28:47the way up versus, you know, you know,
- 28:51who does that a lot?
- 28:52Um, Noah Olson, he'll,
- 28:53he'll admit that wall balls,
- 28:54at least as of 2019,
- 28:55it was not a strength of his.
- 28:57And he,
- 28:57I had him at rogue on that wall
- 28:59ball rowing box, jump over workout.
- 29:01And, um,
- 29:03know started out with like
- 29:0450 wall balls and I think
- 29:05he probably did 60 wall
- 29:06balls felt really bad oh
- 29:09holly said I've only judged
- 29:11little local things but
- 29:12it's so fun ha I judged
- 29:14stacy tovar once forever
- 29:15ago and she's lovely and
- 29:17you know why I had to share
- 29:18that comment scott's jealous
- 29:21but Holly is our stats and data girl.
- 29:25And she's the one that does
- 29:26all of our chaptering now.
- 29:27And I am so appreciative of her.
- 29:28Anytime I can tout her,
- 29:30she's been killing it these
- 29:31last couple of weeks with
- 29:32stats and stuff.
- 29:35Love, love what she's doing for us.
- 29:37I have to hop off,
- 29:38but I was going to tell you
- 29:39one thing real quick about one,
- 29:41the workout I coached today
- 29:44was called the wrath of con.
- 29:49Oh, no way.
- 29:52But it's what Star Trek
- 29:55stuff on there anyways.
- 29:57But it was,
- 29:58it was funny because even the
- 29:59athletes were like, Amy,
- 30:00this one was meant for you to come.
- 30:03It does kind of seem like it
- 30:04because it was accumulate a
- 30:07hundred air bike calories
- 30:09and then accumulate a
- 30:10hundred ski calories and
- 30:11you can mix it up however you want to.
- 30:12So it was very endurance-y like that.
- 30:16See, Justin, you did that like that.
- 30:19Mayhem, yeah.
- 30:20But I'm calling it the wrath
- 30:22of Con Porter because I couldn't.
- 30:24Con is awesome on the machines.
- 30:28Right.
- 30:28That's what I'm saying.
- 30:29It just worked out.
- 30:31Yep.
- 30:33All right.
- 30:34I saw a workout the other
- 30:35day called Star Trek.
- 30:36Peace out.
- 30:37Bye, Amy.
- 30:38Bye, Amy.
- 30:40Back here, someone asked about IF3.
- 30:42I am familiar with that.
- 30:43It's the International
- 30:44Federation of Fitness...
- 30:48something or other, but it, um,
- 30:51it's the thing that like, uh,
- 30:52Norway wins all of the stuff.
- 30:56Cause they have national like athletes,
- 30:57right.
- 30:58That trained for that and
- 30:59they get paid to do it.
- 31:00Um, Mattel Garness has won it.
- 31:02Um,
- 31:03Kristen Holta has won it a couple of
- 31:04times.
- 31:06Um, is the,
- 31:07like the U S poster girl for it
- 31:09or has been in the past, I think.
- 31:11And I think Justin Kotler
- 31:12has something to do with it
- 31:13as well here in the States.
- 31:16But it's grown in those
- 31:18countries where fitnessing
- 31:21is a national sport.
- 31:23They do really well because
- 31:24they're actually funded to do it.
- 31:28But it is a set regimen.
- 31:31It is not unknown and unknowable.
- 31:33It is very set in what they do.
- 31:36And they have a judging group.
- 31:40I did hear that they were
- 31:41trying to form a judge.
- 31:43They have very standard movements too.
- 31:44I think their movements are
- 31:45super standardized.
- 31:47And so it's like a plug and play.
- 31:48There's no, there,
- 31:49there isn't much variation in, um,
- 31:52in their movements and things.
- 31:53So I think that's what they
- 31:54were talking about.
- 31:55Yeah.
- 31:55They have a pretty, I think, um,
- 31:57Andrew Sten knows a little bit about it,
- 31:58I think.
- 32:00Yeah.
- 32:02He says they have a judging level system.
- 32:05That should be done.
- 32:07You get graded as a judge
- 32:08and the better you are,
- 32:09the higher level judge you are.
- 32:11That happens in pro sports
- 32:13all over the place.
- 32:14And you screw up and you get demoted.
- 32:16Right.
- 32:17Or you do really well and
- 32:18you get to go to the games or, you know,
- 32:21in the NFL, if you're,
- 32:22if you get graded out as a good referee,
- 32:23you're the one doing the Superbowl.
- 32:27Yeah.
- 32:27So, um, yeah.
- 32:31So the one thing on my list
- 32:33that we haven't talked
- 32:34about is I'm going to be on
- 32:37Around the Whiteboard tomorrow.
- 32:39Oh, yeah?
- 32:40Yeah, I just found out last night.
- 32:43Cool.
- 32:44I think.
- 32:45And so I got to represent
- 32:48Clydesdale Media and hopefully win.
- 32:52I'm going up against Harriet
- 32:54Roberts and Adam Klink.
- 32:59Oh, okay.
- 33:02So I've, they've never been on the show,
- 33:05so I have no,
- 33:08I'm just going to be brutal
- 33:09and sarcastic and take them out.
- 33:12I love it.
- 33:14That'll be really fun.
- 33:16Yeah.
- 33:18We get the questions like a
- 33:19little bit ahead of time.
- 33:20Okay.
- 33:22So I just got them and it's
- 33:26going to be interesting.
- 33:28Two of them I have like a
- 33:31stream of consciousness of
- 33:32things I want to say.
- 33:33Now I got to get down to 60 seconds.
- 33:35The other one,
- 33:36like I have no idea where I'm going.
- 33:39Oh boy.
- 33:41So got to figure that out
- 33:42before tomorrow at 3 p.m.
- 33:44Eastern time.
- 33:45Fun.
- 33:47That's super fun.
- 33:48Speaking of competition,
- 33:49how are you feeling about the draft?
- 33:51How are your bears doing?
- 33:54All reports,
- 33:55people love what the Bears
- 33:56have done in the draft.
- 33:57They got a good grade?
- 34:00Yeah, A-plus from Yahoo.
- 34:04They drafted a punter,
- 34:05so some people gave him a ding on that,
- 34:06but whatever.
- 34:12I wanted to talk about,
- 34:13have you been able to see Kill Taylor?
- 34:19A little bit of it.
- 34:22I've listened to Seb on some
- 34:23of his podcasts,
- 34:24but is Kill Taylor like a
- 34:25separate series?
- 34:27Yeah.
- 34:28So it just started last week.
- 34:30Coming off of Taylor versus the world.
- 34:33Now they're doing Kill
- 34:34Taylor where he comes up with a workout.
- 34:38He does it.
- 34:40And then you can call in and get a link.
- 34:44Sevan sends you the link and
- 34:46then you can try to beat Taylor's score.
- 34:49If you do, you win $500.
- 34:55Now last week, nobody won it.
- 34:57So that 500 rolls over.
- 34:59So this week it'll be a thousand dollars.
- 35:02Okay.
- 35:02Does he pick the workouts?
- 35:04He does.
- 35:05Okay.
- 35:06So they're like in his
- 35:06wheelhouse for the most part.
- 35:08Right.
- 35:08Because you want to be a challenge.
- 35:11Right.
- 35:13Um, is he going to semifinals?
- 35:15He does.
- 35:16Okay.
- 35:17Like he's training for semifinals.
- 35:18He needs to chill out.
- 35:21Well,
- 35:22like this workout he did the other
- 35:23day was his time was two 50, two minutes.
- 35:27So it's, well, yeah,
- 35:28I guess for a viewing value too,
- 35:30you can't have like a 20
- 35:31minute something or other.
- 35:33Yeah,
- 35:33so the first workout was 10 rope climbs,
- 35:3930 kettlebell clean and jerks.
- 35:42Hmm, okay.
- 35:48Is there a female scaled
- 35:50equivalent to beat or do
- 35:51you have to actually beat this time?
- 35:53Yeah, they do put out a scaled.
- 35:54Oh, they do?
- 35:56They tried to get Alex Kazan to jump on.
- 35:58Mm-hmm.
- 36:01Jason Hopper was in the chat
- 36:04saying that he was going to
- 36:05wait till the money got
- 36:06high enough to make it worth it.
- 36:09So it'd be really cool if
- 36:12like games athletes show showed up.
- 36:15Jamie was Jamie was tempted
- 36:18to jump on and do it last week.
- 36:20She did not.
- 36:22I'm I'm sad because she's
- 36:24really good at rope climbs.
- 36:26It would have been
- 36:26kettlebell clean jerks for
- 36:28her to get through that.
- 36:30Um,
- 36:31the one guy came really close and at
- 36:33like rep 26 of the clean and jerk,
- 36:36he just died and dropped the kettlebells.
- 36:38Oh no.
- 36:40But it was so fun to watch.
- 36:42That's cool.
- 36:42Yeah.
- 36:42I'll have to look at that.
- 36:43Watch.
- 36:45Um, and they're doing it this Saturday.
- 36:47Okay.
- 36:49Um, I think it's like 10 Pacific,
- 36:5110 or 10 30 Pacific.
- 36:53So what's that?
- 36:55Three hours,
- 36:55one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday.
- 36:57Okay.
- 37:00There is no max ceiling.
- 37:04It's just going to keep
- 37:05going and going until somebody beats him.
- 37:13And, and,
- 37:13and Corey's kind of bringing up
- 37:15Taylor is mic'd up while
- 37:16the other people are going.
- 37:18And so he's commentary.
- 37:20Yeah.
- 37:21And then when the guy was
- 37:22really close to beating him,
- 37:23he was losing his mind.
- 37:26So that's,
- 37:27that's the entertainment value of it.
- 37:30Yeah, Taylor's entertaining for sure.
- 37:31Yeah.
- 37:33He looks really good too.
- 37:34He's looking lean and mean.
- 37:35Yeah,
- 37:38I think the pressure of taking on
- 37:41Hopper and Colton and
- 37:43Dallin really got him in
- 37:45the best shape he's ever been.
- 37:49It's going to be interesting
- 37:50to see how he does at semis.
- 37:55Because three of his workouts were top 10.
- 37:58Yeah.
- 38:00And then the one where he
- 38:02blacked out and fell off the box.
- 38:05But he's willing to go there.
- 38:06That was a freak accident too, though.
- 38:08I mean, he would have, you know,
- 38:10had that not happened,
- 38:11he would have been fine.
- 38:13I said, what I think happened is, right,
- 38:16he doesn't have the natural
- 38:17skill set of Jason Hopper
- 38:19or Dallin Pepper.
- 38:21But his work ethic is so crazy.
- 38:23Mm-hmm.
- 38:24And he's willing to push
- 38:25himself to that dark spot.
- 38:27Yeah.
- 38:27He can get there and stay there.
- 38:28Three workouts of doing that
- 38:30to compete with them.
- 38:32His body was just done on workout four.
- 38:36So it'll be interesting in
- 38:37the semifinals when it's
- 38:38not like a head to head ish thing.
- 38:41And he just has to kind of
- 38:42find his pace through the weekend.
- 38:44Can he do that?
- 38:46And it'd be, it'd be cool if he,
- 38:50he made it to the games.
- 38:51So cool.
- 38:53because he has made it to
- 38:54last chance qualifier
- 38:55before he's been really close.
- 38:59Well,
- 38:59and he would argue that he's probably
- 39:00fitter now than he's been ever been.
- 39:02So, yeah.
- 39:04And I've,
- 39:05and him and Colton are willing to
- 39:07go to places most athletes
- 39:08aren't willing to go to.
- 39:09Yeah.
- 39:10And it's fun watching that.
- 39:14So, uh, and I heard you worked out today.
- 39:16I did.
- 39:18I worked out today at a CrossFit gym.
- 39:23It was great.
- 39:24Yeah.
- 39:25So, um, I went back to the doctor,
- 39:26I got an MRI on my hand.
- 39:28There's everything's fine.
- 39:29It's just, um,
- 39:30I just had some stupid like
- 39:32flare up in the joint where
- 39:34I have that crystallization
- 39:35that could happen at any time,
- 39:36whenever they're treated the same way,
- 39:39lots of, um, lots of prednisone.
- 39:41And, um,
- 39:41he finally gave me a cortisone shot, uh,
- 39:43last Friday.
- 39:44which helped immensely.
- 39:46And while I was there,
- 39:47I got my tennis elbow
- 39:49cortisone shotted for the third time.
- 39:52Um, third time's a charm.
- 39:54What's that?
- 39:55Shot it.
- 39:56The technical term.
- 39:57Yes.
- 39:57Shot.
- 39:58I did it.
- 39:58He shot it.
- 39:59Um,
- 40:01what I was really thankful for was that
- 40:02he didn't make me come back.
- 40:04Right.
- 40:04You go to the doctor for
- 40:05like a hand thing and it's like, Oh,
- 40:06by the way, my elbow,
- 40:08So what I did was I knew,
- 40:09I know he's like an upper
- 40:10extremity doctor.
- 40:11And I said, he said, you know,
- 40:12you could have this,
- 40:13he's calling it pseudo gout
- 40:15is my diagnosis.
- 40:17So it's like, it shows up like gout,
- 40:19but it's not systemic like gout.
- 40:20I don't need to go to a
- 40:21rheumatologist or anything like that.
- 40:23But he said,
- 40:24whenever you have some kind of a flare up,
- 40:27you know,
- 40:27you're going to treat it like
- 40:28gout and we're going to, you know,
- 40:29give you some steroids or some prednisone,
- 40:31whatever,
- 40:31and hope it goes away and just
- 40:33make sure that you regain
- 40:33your range of motion, whatever.
- 40:36excuse me and uh I said okay
- 40:38well I've had this tennis
- 40:39elbow for the last like
- 40:41eight months is that my
- 40:43pseudo gout or is that just
- 40:44tennis elbow and he's like
- 40:45well I don't know let's get
- 40:45an x-ray so we took an
- 40:46x-ray he said definitely
- 40:49it's um he he said
- 40:52definitely um it's tennis
- 40:53elbow he said these are the
- 40:54things you need to do um he
- 40:57said something really
- 40:58interesting to me he said
- 40:59that we all operate with
- 41:00our hands down like palms
- 41:02down all the time um
- 41:06when we type, when we're on our phone,
- 41:08when we drive everything else, he said,
- 41:09whenever you're around and
- 41:11you can think about it,
- 41:12go palm up or thumb up.
- 41:14So like hold your hand like this.
- 41:15He's like,
- 41:16hold the steering wheel like this,
- 41:17like do the things like
- 41:19this instead of like that.
- 41:21Um, and he said that that should help.
- 41:25Um, but this, the injection,
- 41:26I got like a little
- 41:27reaction from the injection,
- 41:28like really sore, really painful,
- 41:30you know, for a couple of days, but, um,
- 41:32I'm doing all the things now.
- 41:33Anyway, long story short,
- 41:34went to the gym this morning,
- 41:36did a 20 minute AMRAP of 400
- 41:39meter run and three rounds
- 41:40of Cindy for 20 minutes.
- 41:43I know.
- 41:44We did Cindy yesterday.
- 41:45It's like Murph prep.
- 41:46We did yesterday with 200
- 41:49meter run every four minutes.
- 41:52Okay.
- 41:52Yeah.
- 41:53Kind of the same thing.
- 41:55Yeah.
- 41:56Kind of the same thing.
- 41:57So, yeah.
- 41:57And I hadn't,
- 41:58I hadn't held onto a pull-up
- 41:59bar in probably two months and
- 42:02So, and I'm down in weight.
- 42:04I'm like about 10 pounds
- 42:05lighter than I was three months ago.
- 42:08So you'd think it would have
- 42:09been easier for me to do it.
- 42:10It felt like I had a vest on.
- 42:12It was so hard.
- 42:14Brand new spiel bar,
- 42:15like rip my hands with like
- 42:16the first warmup set.
- 42:19Um, and I was like dead last,
- 42:21but whatever.
- 42:22It was cool.
- 42:24And I'm going to go four times a week now.
- 42:25That's going to be my new thing.
- 42:26Awesome.
- 42:29Yeah, I'm on that train.
- 42:30But we have some life things
- 42:33happening right now where
- 42:35my daughter actually has one of our cars.
- 42:37Oh, no.
- 42:38Okay.
- 42:38So we're down to one car.
- 42:39Garage workouts.
- 42:43Yeah, but I mean,
- 42:44Julie only works like a
- 42:45mile and a half away.
- 42:46I can really take her to
- 42:48work and pick her up if I
- 42:50don't have things scheduled
- 42:52at those times.
- 42:54Look who's here.
- 42:54I know.
- 42:56Hey, buddy.
- 42:58Yeah, supinated for life.
- 42:59Definitely.
- 43:00It's I'm doing all the things.
- 43:01The funny thing is,
- 43:02I've been to like three
- 43:02different doctors for tennis elbow.
- 43:04And this is the first time
- 43:05that the doctor told me
- 43:06that particular thing,
- 43:08which has been helpful.
- 43:09And I've been consciously doing it.
- 43:11And like,
- 43:11I feel like it makes a difference.
- 43:12Because when you think about it, you know,
- 43:15he was like,
- 43:16what you're doing your
- 43:16workouts not hurting your elbow,
- 43:18like you're not
- 43:19you know, that's an hour a day.
- 43:20And he's like,
- 43:21it's another 23 hours of your day.
- 43:23It's like making your elbow
- 43:24all screwed up.
- 43:25He said basically that
- 43:26tennis elbows are right at
- 43:27passage for 50 year olds.
- 43:28So I mean, you're late.
- 43:31I, you know,
- 43:31I ripped the deck off my house
- 43:34and all that were left were
- 43:35the posts in the ground.
- 43:37So I've been breaking those
- 43:39up with a sledgehammer and
- 43:41pulling them out the ground.
- 43:42Okay.
- 43:43And I have over half of them done,
- 43:45but my elbow is on fire.
- 43:49from swinging the sledgehammer.
- 43:51Yeah.
- 43:52And that's like a different
- 43:53movement pattern.
- 43:54In my mind,
- 43:54I'm doing double banger from the front.
- 43:58Were you cheating or not cheating?
- 44:00You can't hook these.
- 44:01You have to hit them flush.
- 44:03So, um, so yeah,
- 44:05I'm trying to swing with
- 44:06all my might to get those
- 44:07posts to move and break up
- 44:08the quick creep that
- 44:09they're down in there.
- 44:11And it's working.
- 44:12It just, it, it is a really good workout.
- 44:16But yeah, my elbow is feeling it for sure.
- 44:18And I am 54 now, so.
- 44:21There you go.
- 44:24Christian, I ripped my hands a little bit,
- 44:26like the palm of my hands.
- 44:28Not completely ripped,
- 44:29but the starting of some ripped.
- 44:34That's what I am, Tex.
- 44:36Walking encyclopedia of CrossFit crap.
- 44:42I love it.
- 44:42But anyway, so that was at,
- 44:44I'll give a shout out to
- 44:44CrossFit Equity in Elkton, Maryland.
- 44:46That's going to be the gym
- 44:48that I work out in now at for a while.
- 44:51I still have my gym.
- 44:53As of tomorrow,
- 44:54it will no longer be a
- 44:55CrossFit affiliate.
- 44:57Very sad.
- 44:59And so today I was on the
- 45:01affiliate dashboard
- 45:02screenshotting as much as I
- 45:03could from the cat
- 45:05programming and the
- 45:07marketing instructions and
- 45:08all that kind of stuff.
- 45:10So we'll see how that goes.
- 45:12I know.
- 45:13Equity CrossFit.
- 45:14CrossFit Equity.
- 45:16So as an affiliate owner,
- 45:18it's hard to get your
- 45:19workouts in when you own a
- 45:20gym at your gym.
- 45:22Well,
- 45:22it was easier when I didn't have a
- 45:24full-time job because I
- 45:25could hang out after class
- 45:27and do my workouts.
- 45:28But now as soon as class is over,
- 45:29like as soon as class is over,
- 45:31I got to get in the car and
- 45:32come home and work.
- 45:34So it makes it difficult.
- 45:37Yeah.
- 45:38How is the new job?
- 45:40It's amazing.
- 45:41I love it.
- 45:42I would not, I would, you know,
- 45:44I would not, um,
- 45:46I would be homeless if it
- 45:47wasn't for my job.
- 45:50Like it's very lucrative and
- 45:51it keeps me sane.
- 45:52So, um,
- 45:56and Christian wants to know why no
- 45:57longer affiliated.
- 45:58So my business has been
- 45:59losing about $2,000 a month
- 46:00since it started.
- 46:03Um, and I used to have a lot of money, um,
- 46:06and all that money's gone
- 46:07now because I had to
- 46:08subsidize the gym and the
- 46:10gym is still underwater and
- 46:12we couldn't afford the
- 46:12$4,500 affiliate fee.
- 46:15So it's a bummer.
- 46:18Um, and the new job, um,
- 46:19Barry is with a financial
- 46:21institution that I don't want to name,
- 46:22but, um, I do some governance with, um,
- 46:26consumer savings accounts.
- 46:32And you've worked in the
- 46:33banking industry your whole
- 46:34life other than the gym.
- 46:36Correct.
- 46:37Yeah.
- 46:38I've been in banking and in
- 46:39compliance and governance
- 46:41and marketing for forever.
- 46:43It's not V of a. Yeah.
- 46:48I can't let my stalker know where I,
- 46:50where I work.
- 46:51So, so I'm not saying.
- 46:54Yeah.
- 46:56Well, cool.
- 46:57So, um, you know, yes,
- 46:58I'm going to get all the, uh,
- 47:01you know,
- 47:02all the criticism about how
- 47:03you're still doing CrossFit
- 47:04and nothing's changed and
- 47:05you're basically stealing whatever.
- 47:07I mean,
- 47:09the people in my gym were not
- 47:12CrossFitters.
- 47:13Like that's not the,
- 47:14that is not the badge that they wore.
- 47:16Um, everybody is, you know,
- 47:20trying to get fitter for longevity.
- 47:22And so strength for
- 47:22longevity is kind of like
- 47:24our new tagline.
- 47:25is what we're,
- 47:26what we're trying to market to.
- 47:27So my, my avatar client is, you know,
- 47:3050 plus years old.
- 47:32And some,
- 47:33some of those people have never
- 47:34worked out before.
- 47:36So we're just trying to keep

- 47:48been the leading brand, thank goodness.
- 47:50So nothing really changes.
- 47:51There's a,

- 48:31chopping up with Tristan on
- 48:34Thursday as well.

- 48:37CrossFit talk to Sunday nights now.
- 48:39nice um the crowd on sunday
- 48:42night was so awesome and so
- 48:45huge um we're gonna keep
- 48:47trying to do that then and
- 48:49see if that makes more
- 48:50sense kind of gives allows
- 48:52us to do a recap of the
- 48:53week um stuff like that so
- 48:56and then sometime this
- 48:59afternoon I'm gonna start
- 49:00scheduling semi-final
- 49:02interviews because the
- 49:04leaderboard is closed hopefully
- 49:09Everybody but Gabby that I scheduled,
- 49:11I had to call and say,
- 49:12I guess we need to postpone
- 49:15or whatever happens here.
- 49:16So, yeah.
- 49:17Crazy.
- 49:23And then one huge last shout
- 49:27out to Thick Boy for
- 49:29sponsoring all of our shows.
- 49:32He's doing a great job with that.
- 49:34And can't wait to get our
- 49:35merch out on his website.
- 49:38He's making the screens this week,
- 49:39so they should be coming soon.
