1:39
Speaker 2: I did when I was young.
1:42
Speaker 1: We all went by.
1:43
Speaker 2: Up to 20, and then I became Jim.
1:46
Speaker 1: You went from a Jimmy to a James.
1:47
Speaker 1: Well, I used to be a Donnie, and then I went to a.
1:49
Speaker 1: Don.
1:50
Speaker 2: Went to a Don.
1:50
Speaker 2: Now he's something else we can't find out now.
1:52
Speaker 2: Now I'm an absolute jerk.
1:53
Speaker 2: Okay, I've always been that way, so it's okay, you can relate, I can relate.
1:59
Speaker 1: Well, beautiful, 57.
2:00
Speaker 1: Thank you.
2:01
Speaker 1: Two-door hard top, maroon in color, and I'm thinking that Jeff has got that up on our.
2:10
Speaker 1: I can't see because the sunshine is too bright.
2:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
2:16
Speaker 1: And I think that we don't do.
2:17
Speaker 1: We have the same problem that we did last week.
2:19
Speaker 4: No, no, I can't see.
2:20
Speaker 4: I can't see where he's at.
2:22
Speaker 4: Well, it's right here.
2:23
Speaker 1: Well, at any rate, Jim, tell me about your car.
2:25
Speaker 1: How long have you had it?
2:26
Speaker 2: I've had it since 1983.
2:29
Speaker 1: So it's been around.
2:31
Speaker 2: It's been in the garage a lot.
2:32
Speaker 2: It was a garage storage facility for about almost 40 years Wow, really 37.
2:41
Speaker 2: So I bought it in 83, towed it home from East Texas when we were visiting my wife's grandmother and then set it in my garage.
2:50
Speaker 2: You know how life gets in the way.
2:54
Speaker 2: Yes, very much so Sending kids to college and otherwise, so set it in my garage until 2000.
2:59
Speaker 2: At that point or 2020, my wife said either fix it or get rid of it.
3:05
Speaker 2: So I fixed it, okay.
3:07
Speaker 2: So what did you fix?
3:09
Speaker 2: Everything, everything, pretty much.
3:11
Speaker 2: It's got a new motor.
3:12
Speaker 2: It's a 383 blueprint Strucker engine, got you With a Holley Sniper.
3:17
Speaker 2: It's a 700R4 transmission, 9-inch.
3:22
Speaker 1: So the wife can drive it.
3:23
Speaker 2: She can.
3:24
Speaker 2: Yes, automatic.
3:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, she didn't want to, but she can.
3:26
Speaker 2: Good, has it got power steering Power, steering air brakes.
3:30
Speaker 1: Got air conditioning Air conditioning Did you get vintage air in it?
3:32
Speaker 1: Of course, absolutely.
3:34
Speaker 1: I think everybody gets vintage air.
3:44
Speaker 2: And so who did the paint?
3:44
Speaker 2: A body shop in Alvin called Alvin Auto Collision they can do paint there.
3:46
Speaker 2: They can do paint there they really can Did a good job.
3:49
Speaker 1: Why did you choose that color?
3:50
Speaker 2: Well, interesting.
3:51
Speaker 2: That's an interesting question because originally I was trying to get the real bright red Lexus color.
3:58
Speaker 2: Yes, and the guy says, well, it's going to cost you X amount of dollars more.
4:03
Speaker 2: And he said, why don't you pick one of these colors?
4:04
Speaker 2: And that's the color I picked.
4:06
Speaker 2: It's called a blazed red metallic pearl.
4:12
Speaker 1: Blazed red metallic pearl.
4:15
Speaker 2: Yep.
4:15
Speaker 1: Okay.
4:16
Speaker 2: So and.
4:18
Speaker 1: Did you have?
4:18
Speaker 1: Was the car just a shell when you had it painted, or did he paint around?
4:23
Speaker 2: it.
4:23
Speaker 2: No, it was just a shell.
4:25
Speaker 2: We took the body off because I took the frame home and was working on something else on it.
4:30
Speaker 2: So he had the whole body and did it frame off.
4:34
Speaker 3: Oh nice, Not necessarily rotisserie, but he had all the parts.
4:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, he had all the parts, yeah.
4:39
Speaker 1: Well, it's beautiful.
4:40
Speaker 1: And who did the interior?
4:44
Speaker 2: Give me a minute, Well that's okay.
4:46
Speaker 2: I mean somebody local, odias Upholstery.
4:50
Speaker 2: They're in Stafford a little small shop and they mostly do upholstery for sofas and otherwise, but he also does auto interior.
5:02
Speaker 3: But you've got to bring the seats and the stuff to him.
5:03
Speaker 3: Take everything to him, not just the car.
5:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, he, you've got to bring the seats and the stuff to him.
5:05
Speaker 3: Take everything to him, not just the car.
5:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, he has no place to put the car, gotcha.
5:09
Speaker 1: Well, as far as the seats are concerned, I haven't obviously gotten up and looked in there, are they stock?
5:14
Speaker 2: No, no.
5:15
Speaker 2: So I bought.
5:16
Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of the brand name.
5:19
Speaker 2: It's a custom seat that has an armrest.
5:26
Speaker 2: I could have bought the standard seat, but I didn't have an armrest and I just thought well, You've got to have an armrest.
5:33
Speaker 1: You've got to have an armrest.
5:34
Speaker 2: My wife said we don't have anything else.
5:36
Speaker 2: The only thing I've missed is a cup holder, so I bought a little cup holder.
5:39
Speaker 2: That sounds bad, but you don't have a cup holder.
5:43
Speaker 1: Now, do you take it on any road trips, or is it just a show queen?
5:46
Speaker 2: No, we just got back from Bowling Green.
5:49
Speaker 2: Wow, we went on the road trip.
5:55
Speaker 1: The Corvette thing.
5:56
Speaker 2: No, no, this was.
5:57
Speaker 1: Tri-Fi National.
5:58
Speaker 2: Oh okay, Tri-Fi, so Woody's had a Tri-Fi National road trip from Dallas to Bowling Green.
6:00
Speaker 2: Woody's had a Tri-Fi National road trip from Dallas to Bowling Green, so we went to Shreveport, vicksburg, meridian, chattanooga, it sounds like cruising the coast.
6:14
Speaker 2: Close.
6:15
Speaker 1: Hot Rod.
6:15
Speaker 2: Tour of Texas, yeah that's a good one too, but I say, and the reason why I did that is because, just so I feel comfortable, I have people around me in case you break down.
6:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
6:29
Speaker 2: So I've had issues and I just replaced the original was a Holley Sniper 1, and I had nothing but pure problems and finally they agreed it was something Sniper was bad, sent me a new one and I didn't have any problem.
6:44
Speaker 2: Usually I'd sit there and crank for three to five minutes to get it to start.
6:48
Speaker 4: Oh, my Really yeah.
6:50
Speaker 2: And you know you've got a brand new engine.
6:51
Speaker 2: You think, turn the key and start right up, right.
6:53
Speaker 2: And you talk to Holly, start right up.
6:55
Speaker 2: Well, no, so $1,500 later, what?
6:59
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I took it to a Holly specialist and $750 is oh, it's fixed.
7:07
Speaker 2: No, so finally, Blueprint was good enough.
7:11
Speaker 2: They've replaced it and it starts right up.
7:14
Speaker 4: It's been great ever since it starts up every time Nice.
7:17
Speaker 3: Do they give you an indication of what it was, or just they'll never admit that?
7:21
Speaker 3: No, no, no, they won't admit whatever it was.
7:24
Speaker 2: But you know, know, once again, what do you do?
7:26
Speaker 2: You know, you, you try everything.
7:28
Speaker 2: You think.
7:28
Speaker 2: You know I took two different shops, thinking anything.
7:31
Speaker 2: So first I've got people that work on my car most of the time, you know I do a good job but just couldn't fix it.
7:37
Speaker 2: So I thought, well, I'll call a holly specialist, take it there.
7:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, it didn't happen, you know, seven or fifty dollars later.
7:45
Speaker 2: And so I told holly, as you know, you need to look at your specialist because they should have caught that there's something wrong with the car brand instead of just saying, oh, we fixed it.
7:53
Speaker 2: So you know that's sad but true.
7:56
Speaker 2: So, but I have a sniper 200 now and it starts right up no problem, no problems, it's, it's great.
8:01
Speaker 3: So is it for sale?
8:03
Speaker 4: no, why are you?
8:04
Speaker 4: You just bought a car, I know.
8:05
Speaker 3: I'm trying to help the man out.
8:06
Speaker 3: I'm trying to get Don to know no, no, no, this one's not for sale.
8:11
Speaker 2: This will probably remain in my family.
8:15
Speaker 1: How long did it take you to do all that work?
8:17
Speaker 2: A couple years, well, about a year A year.
8:21
Speaker 2: I had done the underneath, all the drive train and everything we'd done earlier.
8:27
Speaker 2: But then the body and then putting it all back together took about a year, year and a half.
8:33
Speaker 2: So I had a guy out of Angleton or, excuse me, out of Alvin that did it and put it back together and then the body shop was in Alvin Gotcha, but some sort of draw down there in Alvin I think.
8:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, something.
8:50
Speaker 1: I think that there's some sort of a vegetable garden down there.
8:53
Speaker 2: There is one, david says him David's not in, alvin, you're not in.
8:58
Speaker 1: Alvin?
8:58
Speaker 1: Well, but that's not Alvin.
9:02
Speaker 1: It's close, come on, it's like saying I'm close, eight miles away.
9:05
Speaker 2: Where are you, friendswood?
9:06
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he's close.
9:09
Speaker 3: Highway 6.
9:10
Speaker 2: Come on, give the guy a break.
9:13
Speaker 2: Come on, help my brother out here.
9:16
Speaker 3: He's an engineer, so it's yeah, joe's right there.
9:20
Speaker 4: You know of course, if he was a good engineer he'd have the microphone down where people could hear what he's saying.
9:25
Speaker 2: That's why he has it up.
9:26
Speaker 3: He doesn't want anybody to hear him.
9:28
Speaker 4: Thank you, David.
9:31
Speaker 3: I just want to go.
9:32
Speaker 3: We know that.
9:34
Speaker 1: Exactly.
9:35
Speaker 2: Thank you.
9:36
Speaker 1: David, do you show it often?
9:39
Speaker 2: Not really.
9:39
Speaker 2: Do you live close by here?
9:41
Speaker 2: No, I live in Missouri City.
9:43
Speaker 2: Okay, there you go, I live in Missouri City.
9:45
Speaker 1: Oh, there you go.
9:46
Speaker 1: I live in Sugar Land, kind of like Alvin and Friends.
9:48
Speaker 1: Was that's right Well?
9:51
Speaker 2: back in the 80s, nobody knew where Missouri City was.
9:53
Speaker 2: They knew where Sugar Land was, but they didn't know where.
9:55
Speaker 1: Missouri City was Only because of the sugar factory.
9:57
Speaker 1: That's right.
9:58
Speaker 2: But I didn't build it to show, I built it to drive and enjoy Very good.
10:04
Speaker 2: You know, because it's you know, I'll go show it.
10:07
Speaker 2: And if I win something, great, if I don't.
10:10
Speaker 1: Who cares?
10:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know, as far as I'm concerned, it's as much about the people and other car lovers than it is about winning a trophy.
10:19
Speaker 1: Yeah.
10:20
Speaker 2: It's talking about experiences.
10:23
Speaker 2: Well, we all have a story to tell.
10:25
Speaker 3: Yes, we do, we all have some stories, several stories Saying oh you had that problem too.
10:32
Speaker 2: Now, did you grow up a car guy?
10:33
Speaker 2: I did.
10:34
Speaker 2: I've been in Houston.
10:35
Speaker 2: I was born and raised in Houston.
10:38
Speaker 1: Where'd you go to high school?

10:54
Speaker 2: Luther was the big guy in the 60s.
10:56
Speaker 2: Everybody wanted him to tune your car.
10:59
Speaker 2: Well, tommy and I went to high school together.
11:01
Speaker 2: It was his son to Tommy passed away probably 10 years ago.
11:04
Speaker 2: Sometime in the last 10 years, once I retired, I lose track of days and hours.
11:09
Speaker 2: Good for you?
11:10
Speaker 2: I don't know.
11:12
Speaker 1: I'm still working and I lose track of days and times we all have.
11:17
Speaker 2: We used to go out to the Dickinson Drag Strip.
11:21
Speaker 2: Yes, of course, back when Don Gay was running the Infinity.
11:26
Speaker 1: Houston International Raceway.
11:27
Speaker 1: Yep, yes, I was there.
11:29
Speaker 1: That's where I cut my teeth.
11:31
Speaker 1: Okay, back in the day.
11:32
Speaker 2: Back in the day, and then they finally built the one in Baytown.
11:35
Speaker 1: Actually, if you go down to Dickinson and over on the north side of I-45, you're going to find a Walmart there, and the Walmart is where the drag strip used to be, is it Okay?
11:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, I drove by there yesterday and I was looking at it.
11:50
Speaker 2: I pointed it out to my wife and said I think right over there at Walmart was where it used to be.
11:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's where you showed me on our last trip down there.
11:59
Speaker 3: Yeah.
11:59
Speaker 2: But, like I say you know, I've been here all my life.
12:00
Speaker 2: Like I say you know, been here all my life and you know we used to go racing in Holly Hall.
12:05
Speaker 3: Of course we did.
12:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, and used to go down to Bill Williams, yep, downtown Yep, which is now Skirlock Tower, yep.
12:18
Speaker 3: If you know where Skirlock Tower is, I do.
12:19
Speaker 3: Okay, I know all I know right there, if you grew up here you.
12:22
Speaker 1: What he's talking about, though is right there across from Shamrock Hilton.
12:27
Speaker 2: A little further down Is Shamrock's not there anymore, though, is it?
12:29
Speaker 3: Oh, no, oh no, it's been gone.
12:31
Speaker 3: I remember I was there once A long time ago.
12:33
Speaker 3: That's Texas A&M something.
12:35
Speaker 2: Yeah.
12:36
Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
12:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, but like I say, I've always been a car guy.
12:40
Speaker 2: My first car was a 57 Chevrolet.
12:43
Speaker 1: So you know your way around that thing, don't you?
12:45
Speaker 2: My first car was $32.50.
12:47
Speaker 2: $32.50.
12:49
Speaker 2: And $0.50.
12:51
Speaker 2: So the story is that my sister was dating a guy who had bought this car and he had another car and he parked it in a no parking zone and they finally towed it off and he said if you go go get it, you can have it.
13:05
Speaker 2: So there's you dollars and 50 cents later I bought it.
13:10
Speaker 3: oh my god I sure hope that guy doesn't run into our camera.
13:20
Speaker 3: Well, I'm sure hoping I just run into us.
13:21
Speaker 2: I hope he doesn't run into any of us.
13:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, but so I.
13:22
Speaker 2: This is my third, 57, so Very nice.
13:26
Speaker 1: Well, it's a beautiful car.
13:28
Speaker 1: Thank you, Yep, and I know that you enjoy driving it and we enjoy looking at it.

Speaker 1: Thank you.

18:41
Speaker 1: Well, we can do Jeff's feature, and then Mr Mars has his car review.
18:46
Speaker 1: All right?
18:47
Speaker 3: Let me get my feature out, Well whatever you want to do it.
18:50
Speaker 3: Okay, give me a sec here.
18:52
Speaker 3: Sure, what is your feature about?
18:54
Speaker 3: My feature is about the Buick Motor Corporation.
18:58
Speaker 1: Buick Motor Corporation.
18:59
Speaker 1: Buick, I did not know it was a Buick Motor Corporation.
19:01
Speaker 1: I did not know it was a Buick Motor Corporation.
19:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, as soon as I get my stuff out of here for crying out loud.
19:03
Speaker 3: Here we go.
19:04
Speaker 3: Nail heads Buick is one of the oldest automobile brands in the world and is currently the oldest in the United States and still active today.
19:12
Speaker 3: Autocar was founded in 1897, which made it the oldest motor vehicle manufacturer in the Western Hemisphere Originally made the AutoCar, but they now build heavy trucks.
19:23
Speaker 3: The division of American automobile manufacturer General Motors started by automotive pioneer David Dunbar Buick in 1899.
19:33
Speaker 3: It was among the first American automobile brands that the company had established by General Motors in 1908.
19:39
Speaker 3: During the 19th century, durant had made his fortune as co-owner, also in Flint Michigan, with Josiah Dallas Dort, of the Durant-.
19:47
Speaker 1: Wait a minute, josiah-.
19:49
Speaker 3: Josiah Dallas Dort of the Durant-Dort Carriage.
19:51
Speaker 1: Company.
19:51
Speaker 3: Dort, dort, dort Dort, d-o-r-t.
19:54
Speaker 1: He's such a dort.
19:55
Speaker 3: Carriage Company which by 1904 was the largest carriage company in the world.
19:59
Speaker 3: In 1904, it was the largest carriage company in the world.
20:01
Speaker 3: Before the establishment of General Motors, the GM founder, william C Durant, had served as Buick's general manager and a major investor.
20:08
Speaker 3: With the demise of Oldsmobile in 2004, buick then became the oldest surviving American carmaker.
20:14
Speaker 3: Thank you, oldsmobile.
20:16
Speaker 3: There's some people out there that are a little disappointed.
20:18
Speaker 3: Today Buick is positioned as a premium automobile brand selling luxury vehicles.
20:23
Speaker 3: I know that because I have one positioned above chevrolet while priced below the flagship luxury cadillac division.
20:28
Speaker 3: I've had those two.
20:29
Speaker 3: Uh, in north america buick vehicles are almost always sold alongside of gmc, another premium brand vehicles, with multi-branded dealerships like gmc, buick, chevrolet, cadill and things of that nature.
20:42
Speaker 3: So in the US market the share was 1.2%, down by nearly half of its market share in the year 2000.
20:50
Speaker 3: However, over the same period time frame Buick sold more than 1.4 million vehicles recorded the brand as a record.
20:57
Speaker 3: The growth was driven by sales in China.
21:00
Speaker 3: How about that?
21:01
Speaker 3: Which accounted for 80% of the Buick sales in America during that?
21:05
Speaker 2: time.
21:06
Speaker 3: So, back in June of 2022, buick Global Chief Duncan Allred announced that Buick would transition its entire lineup to electric vehicles by the year 2030, as part of a plan Everybody's got those Not going there, so nevertheless, buick is now the oldest in America in the world automobile manufacturer.
21:26
Speaker 4: I'll be darned.
21:26
Speaker 4: Yep, how about that?
21:27
Speaker 4: I'll be darned I'll be darned.
21:29
Speaker 4: Didn't know that.
21:30
Speaker 1: Well, mr Mike Mars, here on the In Wheel Time Show.
21:34
Speaker 3: I've got to get you down.
21:34
Speaker 1: Michael.
21:35
Speaker 1: He has a review coming up.
21:45
Speaker 4: And what is that review going to be on my let's?
21:47
Speaker 1: hear, is this their?
21:47
Speaker 4: 2024 Kia Niro, niro, nero it's SX, touring it's a touring car.
21:50
Speaker 1: Touring car, it's a Nero, so I keep thinking of Greek mythology and a Nero yeah, I'm really not sure how they came up with that name but Nero is burning.
21:59
Speaker 1: Think of it.
21:59
Speaker 1: You know, not narrow, but Nero, nero, yeah, burning Once you think of it.
22:01
Speaker 4: You know it's there Not Nero, but Nero, nero, and in fact, this is actually the second generation, because this generation was introduced in 2023.
22:07
Speaker 4: So this is kind of a carryover, going to do a little tweaking on it, tweak it Kind of, get it going.
22:12
Speaker 4: Comes in five available trim levels.
22:14
Speaker 4: You've got an LX SX touring.
22:19
Speaker 4: We happen to have the SX touring, so we're sitting at the top of the line and this is a really nice vehicle, so it is considered a small, compact SUV.
22:28
Speaker 4: They kind of change.
22:29
Speaker 4: Everything's growing a little bit, so they're trying to get away, I think, from the compacts and the subcompacts and just say it's small.
22:35
Speaker 4: That way you don't have to worry about people getting insulted because they got the wrong thing I'm not sure nope, but uh this one because of the styling wall it goes between a.
22:44
Speaker 4: It almost looks like a hatchback to some people, but it's not really a hatchback because of the styling on it, so it gives you a little more room in the back.
22:52
Speaker 4: As far as the head room in the back seat goes, it's not available with any r wheel all-wheel drive either, so it's got a couple of things here got led lighting all the way around, including the fog lights, got some gloss black body trim, including the rear spoiler and the roof rails.
23:06
Speaker 4: So it's got a nice combination.
23:08
Speaker 4: Whatever color you get, it's got some nice black to kind of offset it there.
23:11
Speaker 4: Power liftgate, power sunroof.
23:13
Speaker 4: We had we were on the optional 18-inch alloy wheels, which were also black.
23:18
Speaker 4: So once we got into it we found out we had leather seating surfaces the front seats are heated and ventilated, as you would expect or a car like this 10.25-inch touchscreen.
23:30
Speaker 4: Now this is the bigger one because they're up in the trim level lines.
23:32
Speaker 4: But the strange thing is it's got a wireless charger.
23:36
Speaker 4: But if you want to use Apple CarPlay or Android you have to wire it.
23:40
Speaker 4: You can't use Bluetooth.
23:42
Speaker 4: It's kind of weird.
23:45
Speaker 4: That took me a little while to figure out why I couldn't connect.
23:46
Speaker 4: Old-fashioned, yes, had the, but, like I say, it does have the wireless charging pad.
23:51
Speaker 4: Now it also has a seven speaker harman kardon system, so it's got plenty of tunes on it.
23:56
Speaker 4: You can crank it up up under the hood.
23:58
Speaker 4: It's got a 1.6 liter inline-four hybrid motor.
24:02
Speaker 4: This is a hybrid 139 horsepower, got 195 torque, equivalent with a six-speed automatic.
24:08
Speaker 4: You put this all together and the EPA says in the city, you should be looking for 53.
24:13
Speaker 4: The highway 45.
24:14
Speaker 4: Combined, you're looking at 49.
24:17
Speaker 4: Now I drove this car 315 miles.
24:19
Speaker 4: I didn't have any issues with it as far as charging or keeping it going.
24:23
Speaker 4: I had to put a little gas in it and that was about it.
24:24
Speaker 4: It is very smooth and quiet around town.
24:28
Speaker 4: I mean, this is a nice easy-driving city car.
24:30
Speaker 4: You get out on the highway you're going to pick up a little bit of road noise.
24:33
Speaker 4: That, I think, is probably the tires, but I also think that you could turn up that hard and carbon and you didn't even notice it at all.
24:44
Speaker 4: How about that?
24:44
Speaker 4: Now, if you get to looking at it, base model price is twenty eight thousand three hundred fifteen dollars for this car.
24:47
Speaker 4: Now the base trim price that we were driving, again top of the line, thirty five thousand three hundred forty dollars.
24:54
Speaker 4: Now, as tested, the msrp on this baby was thirty seven thousand one hundred and five dollars.
25:00
Speaker 4: Wow.
25:00
Speaker 4: So if you're looking for something to compare it to, it's bigger.
25:03
Speaker 4: But the Honda CR-V hybrid kind of falls into that same hybrid, smaller type car.
25:08
Speaker 4: It is $34,050.
25:10
Speaker 4: But again, it's larger, smaller.
25:13
Speaker 4: So the Toyota Corolla Cross, which is fairly new but it's closer in size, it's $28,220 is what it's going to start at.
25:24
Speaker 4: And I do want to mention that the Kia does have the 10-year 100,000-mile warranty, which I think is personally outstanding.
25:30
Speaker 4: So if you're looking for something in that smaller compact SUV CUV category, there's a lot of competition there, but this is one of them you ought to look at.
25:40
Speaker 4: Well, mr Mars, did you that their next guest roll up there?
25:46
Speaker 4: Is that?
25:47
Speaker 4: It?
25:47
Speaker 4: Is that a guest?
25:48
Speaker 1: yes, I heard that you have to wonder whether or not that the rest of the world heard that I've you know, if they didn't, it's I'll bet he can make them hear it if they didn't hear it, then they're there exactly they need to be doing something else.
26:00
Speaker 1: That actually is a very nice looking Camaro, very nice, and I typically I'm not a big fan of that particular body style, but that looks really good.
26:10
Speaker 3: It does look it fits Well.
26:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, it does.
26:13
Speaker 3: It doesn't fit a lot because there's stuff coming out of the hood.
26:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, there is that, but it fits, got a couple carburetors on it and everything.
26:19
Speaker 3: You know what I think makes it.
26:20
Speaker 1: It's the grill that makes it.
26:21
Speaker 1: I think it's the tubs, the tubs yeah.
26:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm into tubs.
26:26
Speaker 1: I mean, I don't even know how you got a center section differential in there.
26:29
Speaker 3: You know, in my Buick's all-wheel drive I'm going to tub out every corner.
26:32
Speaker 2: I'm going to do that.
26:38
Speaker 1: That's right, I'm trying to do the.
26:40
Speaker 3: We're getting the gentleman's name and all his details.
26:42
Speaker 1: I'm just trying to get all of the timing just right here, and we've got his videographers right here and everything.
26:46
Speaker 1: Look at that, that's perfect.
26:47
Speaker 1: Well, I did have a couple of recalls I wanted to squeeze in Okay, audi 22 to 24, the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT.
26:57
Speaker 1: High voltage batteries may short circuit.
27:00
Speaker 1: Stand back, buddy, because it's fixing to burn down.
27:04
Speaker 1: You know they had a huge fire over in the Galleria area in an apartment complex.
27:11
Speaker 1: Oh, I heard about that Under an awning.
27:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so all these cars are parked in there and in the middle of the night, something caught fire and they're thinking that it was one of the cars that was in there.
27:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, and my guess is no, it wasn't plugged in, but we've been having reports of cars.
27:28
Speaker 1: Park them outside and that sort of stuff, because it may well.
27:32
Speaker 1: I have a feeling that one of those set all of those cars on fire.
27:35
Speaker 1: There must have been at least two dozen cars that burnt to the ground.
27:39
Speaker 1: That would be darn, wow.
27:40
Speaker 1: Bad, not good.
27:43
Speaker 1: No, so you're not messing with any of them.
27:45
Speaker 1: Electric cars High-voltage batteries may short-circuit, also in the Porsche Taycan 2020 to 2023 and 2020 to 2024.
27:55
Speaker 1: Okay, vehicle door may open unexpectedly.
27:59
Speaker 1: That's not good, mabel, mabel, she fell out the car.
28:03
Speaker 1: She's about a mile back out there.
28:05
Speaker 3: I wonder why it was so quiet in here.
28:06
Speaker 3: Chevrolet.
28:08
Speaker 1: Blazer Blazer EV and Equinox EV for 2025.
28:12
Speaker 1: That ain't good, nope.
28:15
Speaker 1: Inactive airbags may fail to deploy Silverado $4,500, $5,500, $6,500 for 2024.
28:22
Speaker 1: Every BMW known to man there is an integrated brake system malfunction.
28:30
Speaker 1: Let's see the year.
28:31
Speaker 1: Models 23 and 24.
28:33
Speaker 1: I mean, there's too many to even go through.
28:35
Speaker 1: But if you own a late model BMW, go to safercargov and get on there and go, let's see if my car is on there.
28:43
Speaker 1: You type in your VIN number and it'll tell you whether it's being recalled or not.
28:47
Speaker 1: Unintended acceleration in limp mode oh, boy.
28:52
Speaker 1: That's kind of anticlimactic.
28:55
Speaker 1: No, it kind of goes against everything.
28:58
Speaker 1: Unintended acceleration in the limp mode in the volvo vn, whatever that is.
29:05
Speaker 1: Oh, difficulty steering we did this story, uh, because of steering gearbox damage.
29:12
Speaker 1: Acuras and hondas 22 to 25 model years is too many to mention here.
29:18
Speaker 1: But, uh, I would say that you guys need to check it out.
29:22
Speaker 1: Uh, again, safercargov and then a high voltage battery terminal or bus bar may break.
29:28
Speaker 1: Uh-oh again, hello for the honda crv hybrid for 2023.
29:34
Speaker 1: Electric the bus bar.
29:36
Speaker 1: It doesn't say how.
29:39
Speaker 1: I knew.
29:40
Speaker 1: Knew that would get your attention.
29:42
Speaker 4: You know we live down here on the Gulf Coast, so we've got a lot of saltwater effects.
29:47
Speaker 4: Next week, one of our guests is going to be talking about saltwater effects on EV batteries.
29:52
Speaker 4: Uh-oh, aren't they sealed?
29:55
Speaker 1: Well they're supposed to be, but salt doesn't do well with batteries.
29:59
Speaker 1: Salt has no.

33:44
Speaker 1: I was over there, I was looking at it.
33:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah yeah, the tunnel ramp.
33:47
Speaker 1: you don't see tunnel ramps very often you might have to wipe it down.
33:49
Speaker 1: No, because you know the way that the hood is cut.
33:52
Speaker 1: You don't know whether that's a supercharger on there or not, or just a blower.
33:58
Speaker 1: But the tip-off is when it's running.
34:01
Speaker 4: You don't hear the zzzz, yeah, you don't hear the bell.
34:02
Speaker 4: So this is Sergio Askew.
34:05
Speaker 5: That's close enough.
34:07
Speaker 3: How do you pronounce it?
34:08
Speaker 5: Asque Asque Asque I was trying to.
34:10
Speaker 5: He's from Peterville, I missed the Canadian thing.
34:12
Speaker 4: I guess that's it, Sergio.
34:16
Speaker 5: Yes sir, nice car, Very nice car, thank you.
34:21
Speaker 1: You've done yourself proud, sir.
34:23
Speaker 5: I've done the whole car myself.
34:25
Speaker 1: You did it all.
34:26
Speaker 5: I pretty much all that car has been done myself Ten years in the making.
34:28
Speaker 5: Wow, Well, it's beautiful.
34:30
Speaker 5: Do you have a shop or just garage?
34:31
Speaker 5: Yeah, no, we have a shop.
34:32
Speaker 5: Yeah, Roland's Paint and Body Shop.
34:34
Speaker 5: That's what we do.
34:35
Speaker 5: We do old car restorations and we've been in the business for over 40 years.
34:39
Speaker 3: And where is that we're on?
34:49
Speaker 5: the north side of town.
34:50
Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, shepard and Taylor, you're a north sider, been there for a long time.
34:53
Speaker 1: I love the big tunnel, ram manifold on it.
34:57
Speaker 1: I love the big tires, yeah, and what carburetors are those?
35:02
Speaker 5: Those are 750.
35:03
Speaker 5: I'm sorry 650s, I'm sorry 650s.
35:07
Speaker 5: They've been built by DaVinci carburetors, racing carburetors.
35:09
Speaker 5: The engine has been built by Fairman Racing.
35:13
Speaker 5: It's a small block, 406 stroker motor Run on about 800 horsepower at the wheels, and it will sit you back in a seat.
35:23
Speaker 1: Well, let's talk.
35:24
Speaker 1: Wait just a minute, let's talk about those wheels.
35:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
35:26
Speaker 1: You just kind of blew that off.
35:28
Speaker 1: What is that about?
35:30
Speaker 1: Three feet wide on each wheel?
35:32
Speaker 5: They're about 21 inches wide, 33 inches tall.
35:37
Speaker 1: So in other words, there's hardly any axle left in there.
35:41
Speaker 5: Pretty much Little stubs.
35:42
Speaker 5: Yeah, little stubs, pretty much yes.
35:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, Now did you cut that rear axle yourself.
35:47
Speaker 5: No, that's what started the whole thing.
35:48
Speaker 5: I bought the rear end at a swap meeting.
35:49
Speaker 5: That's what started the whole.
35:50
Speaker 1: Thing.
35:50
Speaker 2: I bought the rear end at a swap meeting.
35:51
Speaker 2: That's what started the whole thing.
35:52
Speaker 2: I got to start somewhere.
35:53
Speaker 5: So I bought the rear end, cut down right, with the gears in it.
35:56
Speaker 5: It's got 456 gears.
35:57
Speaker 1: Oh my God, 456 gears, and what kind of transmission.
36:00
Speaker 5: Has it got in it?
36:01
Speaker 5: It's got a 700R4 behind it.
36:02
Speaker 3: That's like buying a bottle of Coke and figuring out what whiskey goes with it, no it of coconut than a bag of peanuts and pour it in.
36:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, I see what comes up.
36:11
Speaker 5: I see what comes out yeah, that that's what started the whole thing.
36:19
Speaker 5: And uh, I bought the rear end for 200 bucks at a swap meet already built up already.
36:21
Speaker 5: So, uh, I went down and I started.
36:21
Speaker 5: I was there for six months learning how to do the back half in that car.
36:24
Speaker 5: Uh, I cut the back half of the car, from the back seats to the back of the car.
36:28
Speaker 5: I cut everything out and I bought a subframe for the back.
36:31
Speaker 5: I subframed it.
36:32
Speaker 1: Uh, subframe connectors and stuff because of the original you with that kind of horsepower, it would it would just well, that and twist the whole thing up, yeah, yeah, yeah if it ever hooked up, you'd have hooked up.
36:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, and that's why the reason I put the subframe connectors in there to connect the front frame to the back frame so that thing takes off like a rocket.
36:49
Speaker 1: I mean, it does not move I can only imagine yeah, it runs straight, and I've never seen those carburetors before yeah, da vinci.
36:55
Speaker 5: Well, those are, uh, um, they're made by da vinci.
36:59
Speaker 5: He rebuilt them cars, carburetors for me, and he does all the, all the racing carburetors, wow yeah, yeah, he does uh yeah, he does.
37:05
Speaker 5: Uh, he's, they had chokes in them and everything.
37:08
Speaker 5: He said we don't need that.
37:09
Speaker 5: We don need that.
37:10
Speaker 4: He took all that stuff out of it.
37:13
Speaker 5: Whatever dude, whatever you think, and he rejetted him and stuff specifically for that motor because he works with Ferman Racing over there too and they've made that motor and the cars just for that motor, specifically for it.
37:23
Speaker 5: And another friend of mine did the transmission and it holds up to 1,000 horsepower in that transmission.
37:28
Speaker 5: So it's all built up right away.
37:31
Speaker 1: What's the compression ratio on that?
37:33
Speaker 5: motor.
37:33
Speaker 5: That thing is running at 12.5 to 1.
37:35
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's 40 over.
37:37
Speaker 5: It's got a Carrillo rods in it.
37:38
Speaker 5: It's got an Eagle crank, a 4340 crank under it.
37:42
Speaker 5: It's got the trick-full heads on it, 206 valves on it.
37:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, that thing is nasty.
37:48
Speaker 3: And pump gas.
37:49
Speaker 5: Well, right now it runs on pump gas.
37:51
Speaker 5: Right now I got 104 octane in it right now.
37:53
Speaker 1: I was going to say because you're going to have to use some booster with that compression ratio.
37:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
37:57
Speaker 5: But it runs good on pump gas 93 octane.
37:59
Speaker 5: It runs fine with it.
38:00
Speaker 5: But I put a little bit in it yesterday just so you could smell it coming to the parking lot Just to have bone.
38:08
Speaker 3: It crackles more too.
38:08
Speaker 3: It's like the kid with his eyes closed.
38:10
Speaker 3: It smells like Sergio driving by.
38:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much.
38:13
Speaker 5: Yeah, you can smell it.
38:14
Speaker 5: It'll burn your eyes a little bit, yeah, but yeah, she's nice and everyone's good in the street.
38:20
Speaker 1: I love the emblem on the front fender there.
38:22
Speaker 1: Pro Street, yeah, the Pro Street, it's got a canary.
38:26
Speaker 3: Just put them on yesterday.
38:27
Speaker 3: Just Well, I noticed them.
38:29
Speaker 3: Is that a root beer?
38:29
Speaker 5: brown.
38:30
Speaker 5: No, that is a burgundy, custom-made burgundy.
38:33
Speaker 3: But it flip-flops and it's got a red pearl on top of it.
38:36
Speaker 5: It looks brown from this direction.
38:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks brown.
38:38
Speaker 3: You hit the other side you see it, it's purple.
38:41
Speaker 1: Have you ever had that thing on the drag strip?
38:43
Speaker 5: Not yet.
38:43
Speaker 5: I'm afraid to, I'm afraid to, I'm breaking.
38:47
Speaker 2: I got the deep pockets like that, so it's a conversation you start.
38:51
Speaker 5: I like coming out to car shows and, you know, talk to the guys out here.
38:54
Speaker 3: You might give a little fun every now and then.
38:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, I want to have fun.
38:56
Speaker 5: I get into it a little bit, but you know I might take it to the track, you know, to see what't doing it.
39:09
Speaker 5: This year I'm going to try to put it in this show and then it's going to the Autorama.
39:12
Speaker 1: You know, we all want to be you.
39:14
Speaker 3: No, you don't want to be me.
39:15
Speaker 3: You've got a young lady with you.
39:16
Speaker 3: Does she drive it?
39:17
Speaker 5: That's my wife.
39:18
Speaker 5: She's driven that car one time and it scared her.
39:21
Speaker 4: Yeah.
39:21
Speaker 5: She let go of the steering wheel.
39:33
Speaker 1: I said, yeah, she drives, I let her drive, it's not a big deal.
39:35
Speaker 1: Well, I just took delivery.
39:35
Speaker 1: I get a different car every week, and so to test drive, and I'm currently.
39:37
Speaker 1: I just got this one on Thursday.
39:37
Speaker 1: It's the Ford F-150 Raptor R.
39:41
Speaker 1: It's over there.
39:42
Speaker 1: It's got 700-plus horsepower in it.
39:44
Speaker 5: Yeah, I just and.
39:46
Speaker 1: I tromped on it right after I got it.
39:48
Speaker 1: Just to see it scared me yeah, it'll sit you back it no, but I mean, I'm afraid that if I let my foot in it that you know I'd lose control of it.
39:58
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not that good yeah, you're not that good, I'll race one like that.
40:02
Speaker 5: The other day, just a little off the line on Shepherd, I was driving my car down Shepherd and he pulled next to me of the Raptor.
40:07
Speaker 5: He wants to race well that was probably.
40:10
Speaker 1: That was probably the twin-turbo V6.
40:13
Speaker 5: Yeah.
40:13
Speaker 1: This one here has got the V8.
40:14
Speaker 1: Oh, the V8, yeah, yeah.
40:16
Speaker 5: Well, he, yeah, yeah, I took off the light, I let him go for a little bit and I stomped on him, see you.
40:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, bye-bye.
40:23
Speaker 5: He's still here and trying to catch up to me.
40:37
Speaker 1: I said he ain't catching up, brother throttle.
40:37
Speaker 1: You know, I've never seen, I've never seen the car and clearly we haven't run into each other.
40:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, oddly enough, yeah, so we've got some more car shows coming up.
40:40
Speaker 1: We want you, we want you to come out to tailpipe tacos.
40:41
Speaker 5: It's gonna be there.
40:41
Speaker 5: It's gonna be there.
40:41
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm bringing around.
40:41
Speaker 5: Like I said, it's been in.
40:42
Speaker 5: It's been in hibernation for four years since covid.
40:44
Speaker 5: Uh, I had the car part the shop and you know so, as long as I happen, no car show.
40:48
Speaker 5: So I took the engine apart, put a bigger cam.
40:50
Speaker 5: I had a 488 lift in it, I put a 501 lift in it now of course you did yeah yeah, that's what you
40:55
Speaker 5: do I opened the exhaust more, I put three inches exhaust under it and, uh, I redid the seats inside, we did the dashboard and stuff on it.
41:01
Speaker 5: I did a couple things to the car and, uh, the car's one of five first place trophies on it already.
41:05
Speaker 5: Wow, so it's been out, yeah so it's been pretty good is daddy proud daddy's proud, yeah.
41:11
Speaker 1: So what's your daily?
41:12
Speaker 5: he's not with us, but uh, he's uh, you yeah yeah, uh, my daily driver is a uh 2015.
41:18
Speaker 5: Uh, gmc denali.
41:19
Speaker 5: Okay, that's my daily driver and I got two other cars that I'm working on.
41:22
Speaker 5: I got a 67 impala 2.0 hardtop that I'm working on and I got a 64.
41:26
Speaker 5: Uh, impala that I bought for my wife and uh, that's gonna to be a ProMod 64-tool hardtop that I'm working on that for her and you're going to ProMod it?
41:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, promod it, but wait a minute, she doesn't go to the steering wheel.
41:36
Speaker 5: I've got a ProMod but it's going to be one of those StreetMod 6.2 engine and stuff in it.
41:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, like a restaurant Driveable for her.
41:46
Speaker 5: So you know this has no AC in it, but people put AC in it.
41:49
Speaker 5: Nope, not in my car.
41:50
Speaker 2: It's going to weigh me down, not this car.
41:51
Speaker 2: Slow me down.
41:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's going to slow me down, but so yeah.
41:55
Speaker 5: So I'm building that up for her and my 617 Impala.
41:57
Speaker 5: That I'm building up and stuff right now too.
41:59
Speaker 5: This will be just a stock original car.
42:07
Speaker 4: I got the interior already next.
42:08
Speaker 4: That's beautiful.
42:08
Speaker 4: So you got a lot of polished aluminum under the hood to go along with some chrome.
42:12
Speaker 4: Did you do that, or somebody do?
42:13
Speaker 5: it.
42:14
Speaker 5: All the aluminum was bought.
42:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, I bought it pretty much Bolt-on stuff.
42:17
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, bolt-on stuff.
42:19
Speaker 3: I like.
42:19
Speaker 3: What makes the front unique is that grill.
42:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
42:26
Speaker 5: Bit of grill, because it and that grill they don't sell anymore, so I'm trying to keep that one in good shape.
42:31
Speaker 3: They don't settle no more at all.
42:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, keep it polished like that, don't sell that grill probably find somebody to make one for you, but it would be outrageous.
42:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, be outrageous.
42:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, so that's my grill and I keep on there and that's staying on there, yeah, yeah, I've had a hard time finding that grill and I found it and they don't make them anymore.
42:45
Speaker 5: Another guy wanted that grill.
42:46
Speaker 5: I said, man, they don't make them no more they make a little cheap one.
42:48
Speaker 3: So that's what you do for a living.
42:49
Speaker 3: You're a technician, you work on cars.
42:50
Speaker 5: I work on cars.
42:51
Speaker 5: That's what I do for a living.
42:52
Speaker 5: That's what I do.
42:54
Speaker 3: Your own shop or where at.
42:55
Speaker 5: My brother owns his own shop and I work at the shop with him.
42:58
Speaker 3: Let's give a brother a shout-out, yeah.
42:59
Speaker 5: Roland's Paint Body Shop.
43:00
Speaker 5: He's out in Arizona right now playing ball.
43:07
Speaker 5: That's what keeps him young.
43:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go.
43:09
Speaker 4: More power to him, yeah.
43:11
Speaker 5: And the guy here is still Horace Cookers.
43:13
Speaker 5: That's a buddy of ours and we paint that trailer as a matter of fact, and there's a sign on the side of the trailer there too.
43:18
Speaker 1: I'll be darned.
43:19
Speaker 1: I'm looking for somebody to put a harmonic balancer on my 01 Corvette.
43:23
Speaker 5: LS1.
43:24
Speaker 5: Ls1?
43:26
Speaker 5: We can do it.
43:27
Speaker 5: We can do it.
43:28
Speaker 1: Because you know you've got to pull the steering rack.
43:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, you have to pull the steering rack and there's a trick to getting it back on there.
43:36
Speaker 1: That's the whole thing and the problem is that you know it's a two-piece harmonic balancer and the car is 22, 23 years old now and I'm afraid that it's going to come apart.
43:46
Speaker 1: And when they start walking off of the it'll tear up the motor.
43:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, it'll tear everything up.
43:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and so that's my next goal that I have to do.
43:56
Speaker 5: There's the 60 Impala out here too that we did that car.
43:59
Speaker 5: The black one, the black one, yeah.
44:01
Speaker 4: I couldn't find the driver.
44:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, joe Reyes, he's around somewhere.
44:05
Speaker 1: Joe Reyes, yeah, joe Reyes.
44:14
Speaker 3: Joe Reyes.
44:14
Speaker 3: If you're with him, can you see us, Joe Calling.
44:16
Speaker 1: Joe Reyes, calling Joe Reyes, you have a lost child at the wheel time booth, that's it.
44:18
Speaker 5: Well, dude, I just stuck my head underneath that and let me tell you something that's some really nice work you've done back there, that rear end buddy.
44:25
Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of work on that car, yeah you can tell and all the floorances are so tight back there.
44:29
Speaker 5: Yes, it's tight, but it doesn't move.
44:31
Speaker 3: Does that back end?
44:32
Speaker 3: No, it can't move.
44:34
Speaker 3: The suspension behind it does not move.
44:35
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's A to B, yeah, it does not move.
44:37
Speaker 5: That thing is just.
44:37
Speaker 5: I mean just right there.
44:39
Speaker 1: Well, I know you've got to be proud, dude, because that is one sweet car.
44:42
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, a long time I owned that car.
44:53
Speaker 1: Really it's beautiful.
44:53
Speaker 1: We want to see you joining us at other events as well.
44:54
Speaker 1: It's a two-seat Camaro, by the way.
44:55
Speaker 5: Yes, it's a two-seater, and I want to know where you got those seats.
44:56
Speaker 5: What are those seats from?
44:57
Speaker 5: Those are pro car seats, pro car, pro cars.
44:58
Speaker 5: Yeah.
44:58
Speaker 3: What do you got in your vet Corbeaus Corbeaus?
45:01
Speaker 5: Oh, the Corbeaus.
45:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, it fits.
45:07
Speaker 3: I mean his works, because it's a Corvette.
45:09
Speaker 3: You really can't see back anyway.
45:10
Speaker 3: Right, right, regardless that's true.
45:12
Speaker 4: So who needs a back end?
45:13
Speaker 5: You don't need to look behind you, yeah, you don't need to look behind you, but I needed to see behind me when parking and stuff and I couldn't see.
45:17
Speaker 5: I used to have a rear-view camera behind me and stuff and I took that out, but I put the lower seats in T-Bone.
45:22
Speaker 5: There was a four-point harness in it.
45:23
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
45:24
Speaker 5: So, but it does good.
45:33
Speaker 1: It's a beautiful car.
45:34
Speaker 1: Thank you, inside and out.
45:35
Speaker 1: Thank you, it's getting a lot of attention right here.
45:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's been getting a lot of attention in the car.
45:38
Speaker 5: I think they were asking for autographs.
45:40
Speaker 4: They were looking for your driver there, even down the streets and the rolling stuff.
45:42
Speaker 5: People beat up, I beat you.
45:45
Speaker 5: That's my wife.
45:48
Speaker 5: Well sorry you had to have us in this interview.
45:52
Speaker 1: But you know it comes with the territory.
45:54
Speaker 5: It comes with the territory.
45:55
Speaker 1: Sergio, it was a pleasure.
45:56
Speaker 5: Matt, thank you, thank you very much.

Speaker 4: All right, perfect.
51:03
Speaker 1: Let's see if I can make myself mad all over again.
51:06
Speaker 1: I've been doing that a lot with these headlines.
51:08
Speaker 4: You're talking about Stellantis again.
51:09
Speaker 4: Hey, let me see if I can give you a hand, okay.
51:13
Speaker 1: Well, oddly enough, it's the story.
51:15
Speaker 1: Stellantis is hauling employees back to the office, told you Walking back?
51:20
Speaker 1: A work-from-home policy after a profit warning prompted a shakeup at the carmaker's top management.
51:27
Speaker 1: We've been talking about that.
51:28
Speaker 1: The maker of Jeeps and Fiats now wants staff in the office three days a week on average a major change from its previous 70% remote work policy In the US.
51:41
Speaker 1: Ceo Carlos Tavares.
51:45
Speaker 3: Oh boy, we're just going to start calling him Carl oh Carl.
51:49
Speaker 3: Carl T, you've done it again, you idiot.
51:52
Speaker 1: Oh, come on.
51:52
Speaker 1: Has been in talks with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, your fan oh, come on.
51:56
Speaker 1: Has been in talks with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, your fan about keeping its North American headquarters open in the Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills.
52:02
Speaker 1: David Carl has struck a defiant tone since pledging fixes in the key US market and jettisoning executives, including his CFO.
52:19
Speaker 4: But you notice, he hasn't jettisoned his salary and he hasn't jettisoned himself.
52:25
Speaker 1: No, because that's going to be done for him eventually.
52:28
Speaker 4: Well, no, I think they said he's going out in 26.
52:31
Speaker 4: He's going out if they let him stay that long.
52:33
Speaker 1: My guess is he'll be gone before then.
52:35
Speaker 4: Yeah.
52:38
Speaker 1: Mike, you know I wasn't doing this car show back during all of the GM and Chrysler problems back in the day, and even Ford had some problems as well, but I've never seen a car company go down the toilet as fast as this one.
52:58
Speaker 1: Oh, we're going to build nothing but electric cars, but we're not going to continue building our bread and butter that we've made for years.
53:07
Speaker 1: That's still selling by the thousands and thousands and thousands the challenger, the charger, the cars that were really popular with everybody.
53:15
Speaker 1: We're not going to build those anymore.
53:16
Speaker 1: We're going to start now.
53:17
Speaker 3: It just shows you that the decisions you make reflect not only on you, but either the company or everyone involved.
53:23
Speaker 3: Well at that level.
53:25
Speaker 4: When you make those kind of decisions, those kind of millions and billion-dollar decisions, you've got to have a little bit of common sense.
53:32
Speaker 4: You can't just sit there and say well, we're going to throw out everything and we're going to start from scratch to satisfy an entity, the government well, and that's really where it's coming from.
53:41
Speaker 4: That and the bean counters yep, well, the government's saying you got to do this and so he jumped in and hit over heels and anyway, we're not in.
53:49
Speaker 4: We're not going to talk about politics well I'm not talking about politics.
53:54
Speaker 1: I'm talking about an idiot that's running a major car manufacturer that's costing people thousands and thousands of people their jobs.
54:02
Speaker 4: Absolutely, and it just makes.
54:04
Speaker 4: It doesn't make sense on any level, particularly if you're supposed to be that smart.
54:09
Speaker 4: You're worth $30 million a year, never mind.
54:15
Speaker 3: Dak.
54:15
Speaker 1: Prescott comes to mind.
54:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
54:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, I got to do it, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
54:21
Speaker 1: I don't know, didn't they pay him $30 million a?
54:23
Speaker 3: year?
54:23
Speaker 3: No, really, it was more than that.
54:24
Speaker 3: I think they got a 500 record right now.
54:27
Speaker 4: Yeah, a bazillion dollars, they got their butts beat by triple digits almost last week.
54:32
Speaker 4: That was pretty awesome.
54:34
Speaker 1: And then the television cameras showed Jerry with his minions walking behind him, and he had kind of a glum look on his face as he was getting ready to go into the locker room.
54:46
Speaker 1: I can only imagine what transpired in there.
54:49
Speaker 3: Well, I did hear the story and I don't know how true the story is, but there was a family.
54:53
Speaker 3: They were separating, a couple were separating and they had a small child and the judge wanted to know from the child what parent he wanted to live with.
55:02
Speaker 3: And the judge asked the little person and they said you want to live with your mom, and no, my mom beats me.
55:05
Speaker 3: Oh, that's terrible.
55:06
Speaker 3: You want to live with your dad?
55:07
Speaker 3: No, my dad beats me.
55:08
Speaker 3: Who do you want to live with?
55:09
Speaker 3: I want to live with the cowboys, because they can't beat anybody.
55:11
Speaker 4: Thank you.
55:12
Speaker 1: Jeffrey, there you go.
55:13
Speaker 1: We all needed that, didn't?
55:20
Speaker 3: we.
55:20
Speaker 1: You needed that too, didn't you, David?
55:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, you did.
55:23
Speaker 1: Well, you got it anyway, whether you needed it or not?
55:28
Speaker 3: And I like it.
55:29
Speaker 3: It was.
55:29
Speaker 3: I don't know if it's a true story or not.
55:32
Speaker 1: Well, we're just make believe that it is it's true Until somebody proves it different.
55:36
Speaker 4: That's right.
55:37
Speaker 4: Well, we have just make-believe that it is that's true Until somebody proves it different.
55:37
Speaker 1: That's right.
55:38
Speaker 1: Well, we have a brief moment here.
55:39
Speaker 1: I did want to remind everybody that we are at the Back to the Past Car Show.
55:45
Speaker 1: It is presented by the Spring Branch Senior High School Foundation and they support the museum that is here on the property, all the, all the important buildings and people and all that's behind us right right right and uh, we're on westview 90 16 westview.

56:16
Speaker 1: Juan.
56:18
Speaker 1: We're doing why.
56:19
Speaker 1: You have something underneath the front seat of the car or what she's got.
56:25
Speaker 1: I was just going to say.
56:28
Speaker 3: No drinking in school?
56:28
Speaker 3: Probably no, I can't do that.
56:29
Speaker 3: You get suspended for that.
56:31
Speaker 1: Anyway.
56:31
Speaker 1: So this show runs until 2 o'clock.
56:33
Speaker 1: Judging awards will be presented at 1.30.
56:36
Speaker 1: So you've got time to come down.
56:38
Speaker 1: If you ain't doing nothing, come on down.
56:40
Speaker 3: And why is it?
56:41
Speaker 3: Every time we show up to one of these places, people offer us liquor.
56:43
Speaker 3: Why is that?
56:45
Speaker 1: Because they see you and think, oh dear God, let's have a drink.
56:48
Speaker 1: Probably, drive me to drink.
56:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, what did you say?
56:51
Speaker 1: Drive me to drink, drive, drive me to drink.
56:52
Speaker 3: Yeah.
56:52
Speaker 4: What did you say?
56:53
Speaker 3: Drive me to drink.
56:54
Speaker 4: Drive me to drink, I guess is the only thing.
56:56
Speaker 4: And your hot.

57:02
Speaker 1: Hot Rod, Lincoln oh nice, nice, nice.
57:04
Speaker 4: There's a very nice Chevy II parked over here, yeah, we're going to get to that right after the top of the hour.
57:10
Speaker 1: Okay, I believe that's the same model as the Stans, except Stans is a coupe, yeah, and this is a convertible.

57:59
Speaker 1: There's an Edsel here.
58:01

58:05
Speaker 3: I saw one roll through earlier.
58:06
Speaker 3: It didn't quite cut it.
58:07
Speaker 3: It kind of rattled when it went through.
