- 0:08Hello there, and welcome to another mental health moment
- 0:11from the Life Live Better podcast.
- 0:13This is a place where we take just a couple of minutes to care
- 0:16for our minds. I'm Paula, and today's message
- 0:19might feel a little unexpected, but I hope that it's right on
- 0:23time. It is the idea that not
- 0:26everything needs to be healed. And we hear a lot about healing.
- 0:31Healing your past, healing your inner child, healing
- 0:35relationships. We talk about it here on the
- 0:37podcast all the time. And while that work can be
- 0:41powerful, somewhere along the way healing started to feel like
- 0:46a requirement. Like every emotion needs to be
- 0:50processed, every wound needs to be resolved, every part of you
- 0:56needs to be fixed. But here's a different
- 0:59perspective. What if some things aren't
- 1:01problems to be solved, but realities to accept?
- 1:06Because not every painful experience is something you're
- 1:09meant to erase. Some things just become part of
- 1:13your story. And the constant pressure to
- 1:17heal everything can actually become exhausting.
- 1:22It can leave you feeling like you're never done, like there's
- 1:25always one more layer, one more issue, one more thing wrong with
- 1:29you that needs attention and that can quietly turn into a
- 1:35belief of I am always a work in progress and I am never enough
- 1:41as I am. But acceptance offers something
- 1:44different. Acceptance says this happened,
- 1:49this mattered, and I don't have to fix it to move forward now.
- 1:54Acceptance isn't giving up. It's not even minimizing your
- 1:58experience, and it is definitely not pretending that something
- 2:01didn't hurt. Acceptance is making space for
- 2:05what is without trying to force it into something else.
- 2:11Things in life sometimes just don't get neatly resolved.
- 2:18Grief that softens but doesn't disappear.
- 2:22Losses that change you permanently.
- 2:25Parts of your past that you understand but you still wish
- 2:29had been different. And the work isn't always to
- 2:33heal those things away. Sometimes the work is just to
- 2:37live well along aside them, to stop fighting you know what
- 2:43already exists, and to to start building a life that includes it
- 2:48without being defined by it. Because when everything becomes
- 2:53something to fix, we can really lose sight of something
- 2:57important. The fact that you're not broken,
- 3:02you're human. And being human means carrying
- 3:06experiences, sometimes beautiful, sometimes painful,
- 3:11that shape who you are. So maybe today isn't about
- 3:15asking what do I need to heal next.
- 3:18Maybe it's asking what can I allow to simply be without
- 3:23trying to change it. Because sometimes acceptance
- 3:28isn't the end of the work, it is the work.
- 3:35The life. Live Better podcast thanks you
- 3:37for joining us for this mental health moment.
- 3:39Until next time, take care of your mind because it's the only
- 3:43one you've got. And don't forget that knowledge
- 3:46leads to a life lived better.
