Latest / Scott & Ally on Demand / Getting rabies shots 2 and Gen X at concerts
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_02: It's it's it was just a random thing where, you know, you when we were younger, and if you're of a certain age, you knew that you never wanted to get in a situation to get rabies shots because it was I couldn't remember the number until you googled it and told me, and now I'm like, oh my god, I thought it was 10.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: No, it's 14 to 21 shots.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: You got them in the stomach.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because that's a lot of space to work with.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: And a lot of fluid is coming in.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: And even Merle said, Yep, uh, we were told uh when we were younger to stay away from strays, uh or we'd have to get the stomach shots.
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: So that he confirms that like this was the way it is.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: Now I guess it's better now.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: It's a shot in each arm and in each leg.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: This one, I was in the ER once and two kids were getting rabies shots.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: It was terrible.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: They were screaming so much.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, God.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I think this is also something.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Well, so uh growing up in like, you know, suburbia city, we didn't have that, like, you're not gonna come across strays all that often, except for when my friend Julie Harmon had two raccoons for pets.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Other than that, walking waiting for rabies shot.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, other than that, I never heard anyone getting bit by a stray, if you will.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Never heard anyone getting a rabies shot.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Nothing.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Nothing like that.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: God.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: Now, I don't know about this, but then again, I don't work in a vet's office, but even Tiffany just texted.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: She said, if you work in a vet's office, you have to get ra the rabies series.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Well, even Taiwan Dave, uh, yeah, he actually pretty much mimicked that, saying, Good everyone, my daughter's getting the pre-Raby shot in order to attend vet tech school at Alfred State.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: She has to have two shots in her arm one week apart.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Taiwan Dave.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, confirmed.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: Well, maybe if you're working the front desk, you don't need it.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: I don't know either.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: I really have no idea.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Maybe maybe one of those strays can come out and, you know, bite you or scratch you or rapidly run around the the uh entryway.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: I've never seen that in my vet's office, but uh but I don't think my vet really takes anything except for like dogs and cats.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Maybe a bunny.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: Other people I don't know.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Well, okay, so I was telling you, and I was describing it how, you know, being a Gen Xer, how we were told we were sold the worst bag of goods.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Because I want you to think about generationally, you guys have it made now.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: You can just very quickly Google her AI and bang, or you can listen to Scott Nally and we'll do it live for you on the show because that's what we do.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: That's wonderful.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, but back at back in the day, you you didn't we didn't have it.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: So I am relying on stories that came from the older brother of my buddy who lived down the street.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Could be a wives tale.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, a lot of it was.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Who got it from somebody.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, these stories were trickled down from like World War II vets, right?
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: Although, I don't know.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: A lot of this seems pretty accurate.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Terrifyingly, right?
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: And yes, thankfully, we've advanced in technology.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Well, now there's a new thing going on with Gen X, and I didn't realize this.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: Now, I listen, I'm gonna be the first to tell you.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: I'm not a big concert going person.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: That's just not my biggest thing.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: Which is funny because I'm going to one tonight.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: I I'm more of a if I'm gonna be this has to do with the work that I do.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: So I'm different because I have an interest outside of standing with the audience.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: I'm kind of more like, I want to see everything that's happening behind the scenes and all that.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: It's because of what we do.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: I'm and I'm the opposite.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't care about being backstage.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: One iota.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: I want to be in the crowd.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Can I just crowd surf right now?
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: Apparently, there's a thing though.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Gen Xers are not, and you're not that old if you're a Gen Xer.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, you gotta realize, you know, okay, I'm 55.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: I freely will tell you this.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: I am from that age group.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: I am perfectly healthy, as far as I know.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: And uh I I mean, I'm I could go to a concert and enjoy it if I wanted to, but apparently Gen Xers are 46 to 61.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Apparently they're stopping going to concerts as much, and a marketing director has asked what needs to happen for Gen Xers to go to concerts again.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't I don't know if they just don't want to be around the crowd.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure if that's part of the the research.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: So I can tell you this.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: I had to convince my dad to take me to Fleetwood Mac back in 2019.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: And we had saw Fleetwood Mac before, and it was fantastic.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: So I wanted to relive that memory again.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: And the reason my dad didn't want to go is because his hearing is compromised.
- 4:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: See, there's so I think that's part of it.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: That that could be, I mean, in your dad's case.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna take you right now to this comedian who has the perfect list of demands for Gen Xers to get back to concerts.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: First, physical tickets, and the purchase of your tickets should include complimentary readers and ibuprofen.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Chairs would be awesome.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Peta chairs with a back.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Yes, none of those stools or high chairs.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Or sciatic can't deal with that.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Clean restrooms.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: I once gave a restaurant a five-star review because they had an immaculate restroom.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Find the band a thousand dollars for every minute they are late taking the stage from the start time.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: If it's spring or summer, it should start no later than 3 p.m.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: So we could be home by 6 p.m.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: Okay, well.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: That Ashanti show peed me right off.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Because what who opened up for her?
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Trey Songs?
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Trey Songs came out right on time.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, perfect.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Right there.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: No issues.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: And it was an hour and a half.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: And let me tell you a little something else, too.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Actually, I have two things.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: So the first one is Lauren Hill is notorious for being late to her shows.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, so is Madonna Sorrel?
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: A ton of these are.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: But I want to be like, Lauren Hill, your crowd is getting to the point where they're not gonna put up with that BS.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: No.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: And actually, Jay-Z was notoriously late recently too.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Again, they're not gonna put up with it.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: They're gonna go home, they're gonna try to get a refund.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: And how they're gonna try to get a refund is tell their credit card that they were accidentally charged or they got hacked.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, we know the tricks.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: And the the well, the last thing, seventh thing, eighth thing, who knows?
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: So I have a concert coming up in September.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: I'm going to see Old Crow Medicine Show.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: It's a three o'clock show.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: I can't even tell you how glad I am about that.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: I'm like, sweet, I can drink three glasses of wine and make Shelby drive me home.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: And it's not even eight o'clock.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
