- 1:14I'll be on actually five minutes earlier just to make sure everything is working well.
- 1:18So with that being said, let's get into today's topic.
- 1:22This one is actually pretty powerful because I wrote it as one of my assignments,
- 1:26which actually right now I'm waiting to be graded.
- 1:29And it's an assignment that I just turned in. We had to do something regarding forgiveness and trust.
- 1:34So I wrote this one and it's still waiting for it to come back.
- 1:39Maybe I'll get the grade as I'm sharing this with you this morning.
- 1:43So I entitled it Learning to Trust Again. I hope you enjoy it.
- 1:47So because we've all been there, we've all experienced moments when someone we trusted hurt us.
- 1:55Maybe it was a friend who betrayed our confidence. Maybe a loved one who walked away.
- 2:00Maybe even someone from your church family who disappointed you deeply.
- 2:05The truth is broken trust cuts deep. Okay.
- 2:08It shakes our faith, not just in people, but sometimes even in ourselves, and yes, even in God.
- 2:16But today, I want to remind you, learning to trust again is not about pretending
- 2:21the pain never happened.
- 2:23It's about letting God heal what people broke.
- 2:26You see, when we get hurt, our natural instinct is to build walls.
- 2:31We tell ourselves, I'll never let that happen again. So we isolate,
- 2:36we protect, and we shut down.
- 2:38And while that might feel safe for a little while, over time,
- 2:43those walls become prisons.
- 2:45They keep out the hurt, but they also keep out love.
- 2:50Maybe you're listening right now and you're saying, Angel, you don't understand
- 2:55what that person did to me. You're right.
- 2:58I don't know your full story, but I do know this. God does.
- 3:03He saw the tears no one else saw. He heard the prayers that you whispered in the dark.
- 3:10You know, as I'm reading Psalms, one points out to me, Psalms 34,
- 3:15verse 18, and it says, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those
- 3:21who are crushed in spirit.
- 3:24So you may feel broken, but you're not beyond repair.
- 3:29God's love is the glue that can mend what others have shattered.
- 3:34So let's talk about forgiveness.
- 3:37Forgiveness is so difficult, right? We've all been there. And we've all said
- 3:43those words, I forgive you.
- 3:45Because it's one of the hardest commandments. It's one of the hardest commands
- 3:48that God gives us, especially when the wound is very fresh.
- 3:53In Ephesians chapter 4, verses 31 through 32. 2.
- 3:59Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, and slander,
- 4:05along with every form of malice.
- 4:08Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,
- 4:13just as in Christ God forgave you.
- 4:17Now, forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting. Well, lower that.
- 4:22It doesn't mean pretending it's okay, or it was okay.
- 4:26Forgiveness means letting go of your right to hold on to the pain.
- 4:31It means saying, God, I can't carry this anymore. So please, you take it.
- 4:39Because when you hold on to bitterness, it doesn't punish the person who hurt you.
- 4:44It punishes you and steals your joy.
- 4:47And it poisons your peace. and it makes it impossible to see the blessings right in front of you.
- 4:57So there was many seasons in my life when I struggled to trust again.
- 5:02Someone who I cared deeply for let me down and carried that pain for I can't
- 5:09remember how long and more than I'd probably like to admit.
- 5:13But one day I realized something. As long as I kept focusing on what they did,
- 5:18I could see what God was doing.
- 5:21God was ignoring my pain.
- 5:24He was using it to strengthen me to teach me compassion, and then to remind
- 5:31me that my security doesn't come from people. It comes from Him.
- 5:38So when people break your trust, it can feel like the end of something,
- 5:46but sometimes it's actually the beginning of something greater.
- 5:51It's God removing something unstable so that he can rebuild something solid.
- 5:59So if you're struggling to open your heart again, you got to start small.
- 6:04Start by trusting God again.
- 6:08Let him be the first one that you talk to, the first one you talk to in the
- 6:13morning, and the last one you lean on at night.
- 6:17Tell him you're fierce. Tell him you're hurt. He always knows,
- 6:23but he wants you to hand it over.
- 6:25And when you do, when you do something like that, something incredible begins to happen.
- 6:33The grip of bitterness begins to loosen. your heart starts to breathe again.
- 6:39And little by little, you realize
- 6:41that you can love again. You can hope again. And you can trust again.
- 6:47Because trusting again isn't a site of weakness.
- 6:51It's a sign that God's love is greater than the pain that tried to break you.
- 6:59So think about that today. Let's pray.
- 7:02Heavenly Father, today we lift up everyone who's listening, those who are carrying
- 7:06wounds from betrayal, disappointment, or loss.
- 7:10Lord, you know the hurt that's been buried deep inside of us.
- 7:14We ask you to bring healing where there's pain, peace where there's anger,
- 7:20and hope where there's fear.
- 7:23Teach us to forgive, not because others deserve it, but because we deserve to be free.
- 7:29Oh, I just got an update. Let's keep praying, sorry.
- 7:33Remind us that you never fail and that you will never fail us.
- 7:39You'll never abandon us and you'll never stop loving us. Help us to trust again, starting with you.
- 7:46And we pray this in your precious name, in Jesus' name. Amen.
- 7:51Well, guys, I just got an update. It looks like I got a hundred percent on that,
- 7:55on this. So that's pretty cool.
- 7:58I actually got it a few minutes ago, but I just had to like double take it.
- 8:02So I'm excited. Now I got another exam to do this week. I want to thank you
- 8:06for listening to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 8:08And I'm actually glad that I came back when I was recording.
- 8:11So that's kind of cool. You got to hear my reaction.
- 8:13So if today's message spoke to your heart, share it with someone who needs it,
- 8:18someone who needs to hear that healing is possible and that God's love still restores.
- 8:24So remember, don't let anyone steal that joy. Always have faith and always believe
- 8:30and trust that things will always work itself out.
- 8:34Remember that because you matter.
- 8:37And never forget, have faith, let it begin. Talk to you tomorrow.
- 8:44Have faith, let it begin.
