Transcript
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you build the habits for writing success.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: For most writers, writing feels like work because it requires a lot of brain power.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: So, why not use tools that help make the work easier?
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: One of the most effective tools is music that helps you focus.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: And there are three different music tools I use to help me do this.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Most of the time when I'm writing something, I'm using one of these tools.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: The first is Brain.fm, and there will be a link in the show notes to this, by the way.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Brain.fm is scientifically designed focus music that you can set for specific lengths of time, like 30 minutes, an hour, two hours, or you can set it on the infinity loop and just to keep it going as long as you want to.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Brain.fm does not feature normal music like you hear on the radio.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: It's more like music that has kind of like a drone element to it.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: That's the best way that I can think of to describe it.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And when you have those same sounds, tempos, and rhythms going for an hour or two hours, it has this kind of hypnotic effect that helps you really get into the zone as a writer.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Now, the second resource that I use for focus music is YouTube, where there are tons of focus music playlists for every musical taste imaginable.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: You can just do a simple search for these, and I'm sure you're going to find something that you like out there on YouTube.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: The third resource that I use for focus music is a movie score playlist that I have on Spotify.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And I love to listen to scores from movies like those in the MCU, Harry Potter movies, Superman, Batman, and so forth.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: And sometimes, honestly, I just get tired of the Focus Music playlist, and I want to listen to something that has a little bit more melody and that also kind of makes me feel a little bit heroic.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can't help but feel like a hero whenever you're listening to Superman, right?
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Well, if you've never used any of these, give these a shot and see if it helps improve your focus and see if it helps you be more productive.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: I really love these.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: I use them for hours every day almost, and I think that you're going to find them really effective as well.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: So here's your daily question.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Do you use focus music to help you be more productive in writing?
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: And if so, what do you use?
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I want to take a moment to let you know about our daily writer membership community.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: You know, one of the very best ways to develop better habits and impact more people's lives with your writing is to spend time around other successful writers.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: So if you're tired of feeling isolated and chasing success on your own, then I know you're going to love the Daily Writer community.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: For years, I searched for the kind of writing community that I would want to join, but I could never find what I wanted, so I created my own.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Some of the features include weekly writing sprints, monthly community calls, book discussions, calls with guest experts, and much more.
